Unknown and it's whole electrical system is failing and constantly keeps shutting the car off saying no key detected and strands me more places than I can count it's stalled out in the middle of the road and said no key detected and I had to wait for it to basically let me start the car back up after like being shut off for 20 mins or if I unhooked the battery and hooked it back up then it would start and only go for a day or so and the heat only works if it's raining outside

The rear view camera of my Ford Fusion has started to sporadically function. It started out with an occasional blank screen showing, followed by a message that the camera is not available and to call the dealer. Over the past month or so (July 2025) it is erroring more than 50% of the time. I am afraid of backing up now as I'm so used to using the camera to properly make sure everything is clear behind me. I have already been in a near-miss situation because the camera was not working, and I didn't see the vehicle that was approaching my car in a blindspot. My vehicle has roughly 190,000 miles and only recently has the camera started giving out. I saw on the news a recall of more than 120,000 Ford vehicles within similar rearview camera failure issues and I wanted to make sure that my situation was also recorded with the NHTSA for my particular Year, Make, and Model. The rear view camera will display a black screen or the image will be reversed causing confusion and dangerous reversal actions. Also the camera will go black in the middle of parking or not display at all. The transmission will slip without warning and the vehicle will have have to be shut down and restarted in order to drive correctly.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 174,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 202,000.

Low coolant light keeps coming on. Overheat light then comes on causing car to go into limp mode and causing me to almost get hit. I have had this happen almost ten times now and all Ford can tell me is my warranty ran out and it will cost more than car is worth, which is true. Ford knew the problem with these cars and they can't help us now. I don't know what to do, everyone with a Ford eco is having same problems,we need help!

Been getting a low coolant warning, coolant is not low ,is actually over limit. Car then says overheating service now,goes into limp mode. Engine light comes on. I cannot drive car until it shuts off, sit awhile and then go. Engine light on get a p1299 reading,have had that reading for years,they replaced motor while under warranty ,now four years later the exact same thing is happening and I have no warranty,I cannot pay for this . This is an Ecoboost 1.6 motor and needs recalling,I read where thousands of people are having the exact same problems,this is not new...Please help us people trying to help ourselves with the exact problems over and over again. The 2013 Ecoboost 1.6 has given me problems for years and it just now started again big time on Aug 12 2024.

The backup camera fails to show an image from behind the car over 75% of the time. The display in the car is black upon putting the car in reverse, within about 2 seconds a message displays “rear view camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership.” The collision sensors (rear cross traffic) also does not work when the camera is not working. Looking at multiple online sites, as well as a friend who has a similar model Fusion as I do, there are many many reports of this issue . My car is low mileage (63,141). Ford also has multiple recalls for this issue on other models and years, this car should be included in the recalls.

Complete computer system is not working, won’t show me how many miles i have, won’t blow out any air. My windows won’t roll down. This happens at least 10 times a year. I put it in drive and it went BACKWARDS as i pressed on the gas pedal and the brake locked up. So i turned it on and off and SAME thing happened.

I bought my car in 2020 and immediately when I got home my car had died and I had to have it towed back to the dealership. Since then I have had 2 new batteries, 1 new lithium battery, and a new transmission. Issues with my vehicle include but are not limited to: 1. sporadically when I am driving all my dash lights come on and my power steering goes out and my car becomes difficult to steer safely. 2. my car has rolled back twice while I am in park. 3. Passenger airbag randomly will fault when I am driving. 4. My e-brake will randomly fault while I am driving. All of these issues happen very often and are happening more and more often. I have brought my car in a few times but I am told it needs to replicate the issues in order to be diagnosed but these issues happen sporadically and I cannot demonstrate them at will.

I bought from a dealer in live oak and told there was no recalls I only had car 2 months and the car transmission is acting crazy it smells like burnt oil or brake fluid leaking the radio has a major electrical problem it turns off and resets if I use the Bluetooth to talk through radio. This car all in all has been nothing but huge problems and here I am paying a car note on a car that's barely drivable.

As I was going down the highway my car started smoking dramatically. There were no warning lights so I assumed it might be a belt. I pulled to the side of the road and opened the hood to find flames coming from the backside of the engine. I have had it in the shop now for the last two months and the initial thought was that the water pump could have caused the issue. However, after that set of repairs it was burning oil. Further investigation has shown that the head is cracked.

Although this vehicle is 10 years old it has only logged less than 17k miles (near new condition). A few months back it was noted that the backlighting on the console, steering wheel, interior door panels and overhead console were inoperative under non-daylight conditions. At night, it's driving blind from an instrumentation perspective. Controls cannot be located as they cannot be seen. This backlighting has a mind of its own. Upon entering the vehicle all the lighting in question lights up and then times out (?) Activating outside lighting (headlights) when you expect and need the backlighting, it just isn't there. Disconnecting the battery for 12 hours (reboot) did nothing to solve the problem. Personally, I believe the slap-happy lighting engineers went way overboard with warning and flashing lights on this vehicle. The lighting in question is there, not just when needed. Due to this over-engineering I refuse to pay shop labor prices to troubleshoot or replace parts on a premium vehicle. As this car has become the "Recall Queen" I feel it was placed on the market well before its time and as a consumer I'm now the guinea pig in the field. Never another Ford. NOTE: Uploaded file shows console section and backlighting is ON. Ignition is off and if car is started the backlighting eventually turns off. Activating the headlights the console and all other backlighting remains dead.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. The contact veered into a parking lot where the contact pumped the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact observed a moist patch underneath the front of the vehicle after moving the vehicle. The contact also stated that the windows failed to operate after the power window button was depressed. Additionally, the A/C unit was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer several times to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The system was reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving my vehicle into the garage, I placed the car into the P(park) gear and the car continued to roll. I had to hit the emergency break to stop the vehicle. The fuel line keeps cracking although it has been replaced multiple times causing gas to be leaking from the vehicle even after filling the car up.

2013 Ford Fusion with 99,799 miles on it; went out to go start it after work one day, unable to get into car or start car as battery was completely drained. Did not leave lights on etc. Had someone jump car; on way to repair shop, car shut down and would not restart; thankfully I was NOT on a highway. Since that time, it has had 2 new batteries placed in it, will run for about 5 minutes then shut off and you cannot restart it again; it has also been to 2 repair shops and is presently at the Ford dealership as my shop was not able to determine what was wrong. Cooling fan also noted to be running after car died yet still not able to restart. Read on Ford forums that this has happened to other Fusion owners of the same year.Up to this point, intermittently the battery saver message would come across the dash however I had that looked at and was cleared out. With the car just shutting down without any warning on a busy street in the city, this could have ended a lot worse: I could have been hit or even killed. No warning lights appeared on dash aside from powertrain light after it was jumped but after that, there was nothing. Car was essentially dead and I could not get it to restart. When it was running I could not get the car to go over 10mph in a 35mph zone

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after shifting to the drive(D), the transmission experienced hard shifting. Also, while shifting to the park(P) the transmission would remain in drive(D) even though the gear selector indicated that the transmission was in park(P). During the failure, the vehicle would erroneously drive forward. The contact was able to manually shift the transmission to the park(P) from under the hood while a second person depressed the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission shift cable bushing was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired on 3 separate occasions for the failure but each time the failure reoccurred. Additionally, all audible safety features such as the horn, alarms, and seatbelt alarms were inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Windows will roll down unexpectedly without any warning. This has happened multiple times. I have not had inspected by dealer, however when I take the vehicle in for the two other recalls I will report them issue to the dealer.

I was traveling with my family and a light came on the dash. I pulled over to check my manual and it said it was a power steering fault. Once I started my car again the power steering was completely gone and I had to drive 10 hours back home with no power steering which was extremely hard for someone who has never driven a vehicle like that. I seen online there was a recall for 23 ford fusions but of course mine isn’t on the list. I found 177 complaints on this and I don’t understand why this is not a recall. If this had happened while driving I could have been seriously injured or killed or harmed another life. Please take that into consideration!

My 2013 Ford Fusion SE had the high pressure fuel pump start leaking and dripped fuel on the exhaust and started the car on fire while driving down the road. This caused about $7,000.00 in damage but could have easily gotten out of control and caused injury or death to occupant(s). I reached out to Ford Motor Company and did a chat log asking for assistance and to make them aware. Ford Motor Company Case number CAS-34734107-H6J0Z5. What is dangerous about this design is that Ford chose to design and install a secondary high pressure fuel pump directly above the exhaust manifold and the engineers surely would have known the durability and longevity along with possible outcomes due to normal use over time. For the same reason you are not to refuel a hot engine, a fuel pump should not be placed directly over the exhaust manifold. I believe Ford Motor Company should be held accountable for their finished product liability. This is dangerous enough that they should remove these vehicles from service until a safe solution is available and deployed in my opinion.

MY FAMILY AND I DROVE TO THE BEACH AND WE PARKED. THEN WHEN WERE DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY I LOST POWER IN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH/ MUSCLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF CAR. THAT IS WHEN A LIGHT CAME ON. I MANAGED TO GET HOME AT THAT POINT WE PULLED OUT THE MANUAL TO LOOK UP THE SYMBOL. IT TOO ABOUT 1 HOUR ALONG WITH THE INTERNET JUST TO FIGURE THAT IT WAS THE POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM. IT STATED THAT THE STEERING WOULD BE WITH OUT POWER AND COULD POTENTIAL LOSE CONTROL ALL TOGETHER. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM HOME TO DEALER AFTER LOOKING UP RECALLS I NOTICED THEIR WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME THING THAT HAPPEN TO ME BUT ON THE EAST COAST. HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. BUT THE YEAR MAKE MODEL WAS. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THAT BUT EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS A 2013 IT HAVE LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. SHOWING IT WAS NOT DRIVEN MUCH OR MISSED USED. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN PART OR MANUFACTURE INSTALLATION OR WHATEVER. NOW AFTER FOUR MONTHS AND $1500.00 WE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND FORD IS SAYING THE BACKUP CAMERA IS THE CAUSE FOR THE POWER DRAIN, AND THEY ARE TELLING US IT WILL BE ANOTHER $1300.00 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS DEALER AUTONATION FORD VALENCIA, CA. HAS HAD THE CAR THERE FOR 5 WEEKS NOW AND BACK IN JULY 2020 THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 4 WEEKS!!!!! WE BELIEVE THEY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE BATTERY DRAIN AND NOW WANT TO CHARGE US AGAIN TO FIX THE MISTAKE.

THE FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BEFORE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE NEXT TIME, MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING AND HE HAD TO VEER ONTO THE SHOULDER. MOST RECENTLY, MY GRANDMOTHER DROVE MY CAR TO THE AIRPORT AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC TURNING INTO THE AIRPORT AS SHE WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO MANEUVER THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT. I REGULARLY KEEP UP WITH ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE AND HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO MODICA BROTHERS AS WELL AS A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE BOTH TOLD ME IT IS BOLT CORROSION AS THEY ASSESSED ALL OTHER POSSIBILITIES. UPON RESEARCH, I FOUND A RECALL FOR FORD FUSIONS MANUFACTURED IN HERMOSILLO IN 2013 UNDER RECALL #19S26. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT HAVING MY CAR ADDED TO THE RECALL AND WAS ADVISED TO REACH OUT TO NHTSA. AS THIS IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD, I WISH TO HAVE THIS ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.

THIS PAST SUNDAY OUR SON DROVE OUR FUSION LESS THAN 1.5 MILES TO CHURCH, PARKED IT AND WENT INSIDE. AROUND 5 MINUTES LATER, SOMEONE SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF IT. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN BEFORE THAT SINCE THURSDAY EVENING. THE CAR HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE OVER 2 YEARS EARLIER WHEN WE PURCHASED IT FOR THE COOLANT ISSUE SUSPECTED OF ENGINE FIRES. THE CAR HAD NO OTHER ISSUES AND HAD IT'S STATE INSPECTION A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DECIDED NOT TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION AS TO THE CAUSE. THE MECHANIC HAD THE VEHICLE FOR APPROX 2 MONTHS AND COULD NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. A FORD TECH EVEN LOOKED AT THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE EITHER. SEVERAL OF THE CONTROL MODULES WERE REPLACED, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WITH NO IMPACT ON PROBLEM. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE.

I AM HEARING SOME SORT OF NOISE THAT WE CAN NOT IDENTIFY AND WORRY IT IS SOMETHING WITH EITHER ONE OF THESE ISSUES. ON 10/14/2019, I CALLED ADVANTAGE FORD IN STUART, FL AND WAS TOLD TO BRING MY CAR IN ON 10/23/2019 TO HAVE THE RECALLS(WHICH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF) TAKEN CARE OF. ON 10/16/2019, MY CAR STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST AND WHEN I CALLED BACK ADVANTAGE FORD, THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN RIGHT AWAY. SINCE MY CAR WAS NO LONGER DRIVE-ABLE, I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE TECHNICIAN AT FORD, HE SAID THAT THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE RECALL AND REPLACE A HOSE THAT WAS LEAKING, BUT THAT THE DAMAGE WAS ALREADY DONE TO THE ENGINE, PROBABLY BAD RINGS (BECAUSE THE COOLANT LEAKED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT GUNKING UP THE OIL IN THE ENGINE), AND THAT THIS WAS OUR FAULT AND THAT I SHOULD TRADE THE CAR IN WHILE IT STILL RUNS! HE WASN'T SURE OF WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, NOR DID HE SUGGEST ANY TYPE OF REPAIRS, JUST THAT THIS WAS OUR PROBLEM. ON 10/22/2019, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. I WAS GIVEN A CASE # AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER. ON 10/28/2019, WE WERE TOLD BY THE MANAGER THAT THEIR FORD MECHANICS WOULD HAVE TO BREAKDOWN THE ENGINE TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED THE SLUDGE AND IF THEY ARE AT FAULT OR IF THIS IS OUR PROBLEM.

INITIAL IGNITION OF THE CAR RESULTS IN ENGINE STALL OUT POST ABNORMAL IGNITION TIME. FUSION WILL DISPLAY "POWER RUN ACTIVE" THEN "PRESS BRAKE TO START". THIS WILL REPEAT AFTER ANOTHER IGNITION ATTEMPT AND RE-SHOW THE SAME MESSAGES ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER A THIRD IGNITION ATTEMPT THE ENGINE DOES NOT STALL OUT. THE PROBLEM IS NOT A SUDDEN ONSET BUT INITIAL SYMPTOMS OF THE ISSUE IS THAT THE CAR WILL STALL OUT AFTER 10 SECONDS OF DRIVING. INITIAL RE-IGNITION POST STALL RESULTS IN NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE CAR WITHOUT EXTRA ISSUE. HOWEVER, THIS EVENT BECOMES INCREASINGLY COMMON OVER TIME UNTIL IT SIMPLY STALLS OUT IMMEDIATELY POST IGNITION. DESPITE MULTIPLE TRIPS TO A FORD CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, NO CODES ARE GIVEN BY THE COMPUTER WHICH RENDERS DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAULTY PART OR CAUSE OF THE ISSUE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. PROBLEM MAY PRESENT ITSELF AS FAULTY ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, OR STARTER. HOWEVER, EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ANY POSSIBLY FAULTY AFOREMENTIONED PARTS THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.

I HAD TO ROPE MY DOOR SHUT TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SUPPOSEDLY PUT ANOTHER LATCH ON THAT DOOR. ON FRIDAY MARCH 29 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED ON ITS OWN AGAIN. I TRIED TO SHUT IT AS I WAS DRIVING AND HAD TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP TO ME AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP I GOT THE CAR AT IS TOO FAR SO I CALLED THEM TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE BUT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL. ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 1 I SPOKE WITH FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. MY CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND FORD WILL NOT HELP WITH THE PROBLEM. FORD EXPECTS ME TO PAY $600 EVERY 6 MONTHS WHEN THEIR RECALLED PARTS STOPPED WORKING OR NOT DRIVE MY CAR AT ALL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL IN MY OPINION AS A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WHICH CAUSES ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ASSIST TO TURN OFF MAKING IT HARDER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL" QUOTED FROM THE YOUTUBE VIDEO. ALSO- I SEE THERE IS ANOTHER SEAT RECALL FROM 2014 (FRONT SEAT BACKREST REPLACEMENT) TO WHICH THE MOTOR AND SEAT ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE REMOVED/REPLACED/OR ADJUSTED. LEADS ME TO THINK THIS MAY BE AN ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL. I AM DISHING OUT THE COST OF THIS REPAIR..I DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER OPTION RIGHT NOW. ON SATURDAY 8/8/2018 THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO MY RESIDENCE TO PUT OUT AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE DUE TO THISRECALL ISSUE. THE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ENGINE OVERHEATING SIGNALS HAD ALERTED ME. I HAVE A RECALL ON MY CAR TO REPLACE THE TRANSMITION CABLE. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM BACK IN 2016. I FILED ACOMPLAINT WITH NHTSA AND NO ACTION TAKEN BACK THEN AND I FEEL SINCE THIS IS A RECALL THAT I SHOULD HAVE NEVER PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS RECALL AND I FEEL I SHOULD GET A REFUND FROM FORD. IN MY EXPERIENCE, THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND THEN RECONNECT THEM BUT THIS ONLY OFFERS A TEMPORARY FIX TO THE PROBLEM.

I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY SLOWLY AND PULL INTO A GAS STATION. THERE THE CAR CONTINUED TO SMOKE AND A PERSON THERE POINTED UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHERE THE FIRE WAS GOING. IT TOOK TWO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO A RECALL 17S09. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TWICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. ON 6/22/17 I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO CARMAX TO HAVE THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR REPLACED AFTER EXPERIENCING OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. I THEN TOOK THE CAR INTO TUTTLE-CLICK CAPISTRANO FORD TO HAVE THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION WORK DONE PER THE RECALL ON 7/7/17. THE WRENCH ON THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP. ONLY THING I COULD FIND OUT WAS LOOK IN THE MANUAL, WHICH SHOWED AND TOLD ME NOTHING. CAR WOULD JUST ARBITRARILY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING !!! ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, I HAD TO USE A KNIFE TO PULL THE START/STOP BUTTON OUT AND THEN IT WOULD GENERALLY RESTART AND THE WRENCH ON THE DASH WOULD GO OFF. MY 2013 FORD FUSION HAS A PROBLEM EVERY TIME I REFUEL IT. 1) IT DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN I FINISHED PUMPING GAS, I HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO TURN IT ON AND OR STEP ON GAS PEDDLE FOR IT TO TURN ON, ALSO I HAVE TO HAVE MY AC OFF CAUSE I GET THIS HORRIBLE SMELL AND AT ONE POINT SAW FUMES COMING OUT FROM MY AIR VENTS WHICH I THEN SUDDENLY TURN OFF THE AC BUT MY VEHICLE HAD ALSO TURNED OFF BY IT SELF. 2) IT HAS TURNED OFF TWICE WHILE I DRIVE OFF FROM THE GAS STATION, ON THE SAFE SIDE IT TURNED OFF BEFORE I EVEN MADE IT TO THE STREET/ROAD. I THEN HAD A RECALL ON IT AND TOOK IT FOR SERVICE FOR SOMETHING INVOLVING THE DOOR HANDLES AT THAT TIME I REPORTED MY PROBLEM TO A FORD MECHANIC/PERSONNEL AND THE GENTLE MEN ADVISED ME HE WILL NOT BE REPLACING THE PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS NOT ON THE RECALL AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PAYED FROM MY POCKET, WHICH I DONT HAVE THE BUDGET FOR IT, AND 3) WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ABOUT A 15 MILE DRIVE FROM NEIGHBORING CITY, MY VEHICLE HAD LOST POWER AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN AT WHICH POINT I REALIZED IT HAD TURNED OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED OF 50-60MPHS WHILE MY SHIFT WAS IN DRIVE AND MY KEY WAS TURNED IN THE ON POSITION. ON WAY TO WORK I ON THE MORNING OF 10-12-17 GOING ABOUT 75MPH ON INTERSTATE AND ALL THE SUDDEN THERE WAS A DING AND FLASH OF RED (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) ON THE DASHBOARD STATING ENGINE OVERHEATING AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND CAR BASICALLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I LOST ALL POWER, RADIO, LIGHTS ETC. WITH THE MOMENTUM I HAD BUILT UP GOING 75 I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT ACROSS THE 4 LANES TO THE SHOULDER. AN OHIO STATE TROOPER STOPPED TO ASSIST AND WAS DUMB FOUNDED WHEN HE SAY THERE WAS NO POWER, THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SPOKE WITH JAY AND ADVISED THAT CAR WAS BEING TOWED IN. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FORD IS STATING THAT IT'S A SAFETY FEATURE TO STOP FIRE FROM HAPPENING, BUT HONESTLY HOW SAFE IS TO HAVE THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRICAL POWER COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON INTERSTATE. IT WAS A MATTER OF SECONDS BETWEEN DING, LIGHT AND LOSS OF POWER. CAR WAS TOWED IN USING MY AAA MEMBERSHIP ON A FLATBED TO LIBERTY FORD IN BRUNSWICK, OHIO. I WAS ADVISED LATER THAT DAY THAT IT WAS THE WATER PUMP AND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SENSOR THAT WAS RECALLED. I HAD TO USE PTO FOR WORK ON THURSDAY AND CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP ON 10-13-17 AROUND LUNCH TIME. ON 10-13-17 I HAD TO LEAVE WORK EARLY TO GET TO DEALERSHIP BEFORE THEY CLOSED AT 6PM OTHERWISE I WOULD BE CHARGED $50.00 FOR THE LOANER IF RETURNED ON SATURDAY MORNING. NOW FEBRUARY, I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE (ENGINE COOLANT OVER TEMPERATURE) AND MY CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. AT SLOW SPEEDS SUCH AS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT OR COASTING TO A SLOW SPEED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE ENGINE JUST DIES LIKE IT RAN OUT OF GAS. YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE CAR. YOU THEN HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR. AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT STARTS JUST FINE. IT'S RANDOM BUT BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO MY WIFE THE OTHER DAY. IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE DEALER SAID IT'S PROBABLY THE ELECTONIC THROTTLE BODY A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE ACCORDING TO POSTINGS. PART IS $700 AND LABOR $200 FOR A PART THAT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR OTHER FORD FUSIONS BUT NOT THE ECOBOOST! MY LAST FORD FUSION HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THAT COST ME $500. I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD FUSION, 1.6L ECOBOOST TO WORK WHEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE STARTED OVERHEATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL. I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND PULLED OVER. AS I DID THIS, SOMEONE DRIVING BY SAID THEY SAW FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER MY CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE CAR ONTO SOME PAVEMENT AND GOT OUT TO CHECK. I SAW FLAMES DRIPPING FROM THE OIL RESERVOIR. I GRABBED MY BACKPACK AND STARTED RUNNING UP THE HILL TO MY OFFICE, WHICH WAS ONLY ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY, TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. AS I STARTED RUNNING, I HEARD A LOUD WOOSH SOUND AND SAW THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR HAD BURST INTO FLAMES. LESS THAN A MINUTE AFTER I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR. I CALLED FARIWAY FORD IN BURGAW, AND THEY COULD CARE LESS, I AM STRANDED. I RESEARCHED THIS AND IT'S SAYING IT COULD BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM, OR SOME TYPE OF MODULE. I HAVE ALSO NOTED THE POWER LOSS ISSUE DESCRIBED IN ANOTHER 2013 FORD FUSION OWNER'S EXPERIENCE (NHTSA COMPLAINT ID #10810590. BOTH SEEM TO BE RELATED TO THE PROBLEM I AM NOW HAVING WITH MY 2013 FORD FUSION SE, WHICH IS THE ECOBOOST MODEL WITH THE 1.6L TURBO CHARGED ENGINE. AFTER GETTING AN OBD WARNING ALONG WITH ROUGH ENGINE OPERATION AND LOWER-THAN-EXPECTED FUEL EFFICIENCY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND NOTED THAT THE OIL MINDER WOULD NOT RESET. THAT REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY DURING THANKSGIVING WEEKEND 2015. SOON AFTER, ON DECEMBER 6TH, THE CAR EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS ON TWO OCCASIONS UPON LEAVING PARKING LOTS; IN OTHER WORDS, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED WITHIN A MINUTE OF DRIVING AWAY FROM THE PARKING SPACE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED (RAN ROUGHLY) THEN LOST POWER, WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN A FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS, WITH THAT OCCURRENCE ALSO TAKING PLACE UPON LEAVING A PARKING LOT. FURTHERMORE, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON DEC. 29TH AND ON JANUARY 2, 2016, WITH THE LATTER TIME OCCURRING IMMEDIATELY TURNING ONTO NOLENSVILLE ROAD FROM A PARKING LOT. WITH ALL OF THOSE INSTANCES HAPPENING IN NASHVILLE, TN, COLD WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT AT A FACTOR AS THE CAR'S MOST RECENT FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED WITH THE ENGINE STILL WARM. SINCE THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AFTER THE AFOREMENTIONED CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT, I AM GOING TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REVISIT THAT WORK AND DETERMINE THE REASON WHY I AM NOT SEEING A WARNING LIGHT WHEN THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION OCCURS. AS A LAST RESORT, HE COMPLETELY PULLED AND DISINFECTED THE BATTERY, WAITED 2-3 MINUTES RECONNECTED IT, WAITED ANOTHER 2-3 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR STARTED. HE FELT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE UNIT-THEFT SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR PREVENTING THE KEY TO TURN. CALLED FORD AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT. WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A NUMBER OF ISSUES RELATING TO FORD VEHICLES, NEWER, AS IN 2010 AND NEWER THAT ENCOUNTER THIS ISSUE AND/OR A GROUND ISSUE DUE TO PAINTING ON THE GROUND AREA. BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER (ABOUT 5 MINUTES) EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING AND AT THE SAME TIME WHILE DRIVING MY ELECTRONIC SEAT STARTED MOVING FORWARD. FINALLY STOPPING MAYBE IN ONE OF THE PRE-PROGRAMED POSITIONS. WE HAVE HAD PRIOR ISSUES THIS PAST WINTER WITH LOSING CONTROL OVER THE CONSOLE CONTROLS AND THE HEAT SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SEAT MOVING ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE SLIGHTLY STRUCK THE DRIVER SIDE BUMPER OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. TWENTY MINUTES LATER, A POPPING SOUND EMITTED FROM INSIDE THE STEERING WHEEL AND SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF INDEPENDENTLY AND THE CONTACT HASTILY EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND THE FIREFIGHTERS HAD TO RIP APART THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD IN ORDER TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. ONE OF FORD'S ADVERTISED SAFETY SYSTEM IS THE CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (CTA) AND BACKUP SENSORS THAT ALERT THE DRIVER TO SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE VEHICLE OR APPROACHING THE VEHICLE FROM THE SIDES. WE NOTICED THAT WE COULD NOT HEAR THE SAFETY ALERT FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. I DECIDED TO MEASURE THE LOUDNESS OF THE ALERTS TO SEE HOW THE THEY COMPARED TO NORMAL LEVELS. ALL MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN AT THE DRIVER'S SEAT USING DBA SINCE THIS WEIGHTS THE SOUND TO MATCH THE CONTOUR OF THE HUMAN EAR. THE FORWARD SENSORS MEASURE AT 55 DBA WHICH IS AT THE MID-POINT OF NORMAL COMMUNICATION (50-60 DBA) AND IS QUITE NOTICEABLE UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. THE REAR SAFETY ALERT MEASURES AT 40 DBA WHICH IS A LITTLE BIT ABOVE A SOFT WHISPER. NORMAL COMMUNICATION IS BETWEEN 10 AND 100 TIMES LOUDER. WHEN YOU GET IN YOUR HOT CAR IN A PARKING LOT THE A/C IS ON HIGH IT MEASURES 70 DBA. THIS IS WHEN YOU NEED THE SAFETY SYSTEM TO WORK WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. PROBLEM IS THE NOISE FROM THE A/C IS 1,000 TIMES LOUDER THAN THE SAFETY ALERT RENDERING IT INAUDIBLE UNLESS YOU TURN YOUR HEAD AND LEAN INTO THE BACK SEAT AREA, THEN A FAINT SAFETY ALERT CAN BE HEARD. I COMPLAINED TO FORD AND THIS WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER CAS-4970853. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY CAR BECAUSE A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A FUSION ENERGI SAME YEAR AND HIS IS A LITTLE LOUDER ABOUT 46 DBA. THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND FORD SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX IT. I ASKED FOR THE SPECIFICATION ON THE SOUND LEVEL SO I COULD VERIFY MY CAR WAS WITHIN SPEC. I AM LEASING MY CAR BRAND NEW. I WENT TO GET IN IT TO GO TO WORK AND I HAD A FEW OF THE SENSOR/WARNING LIGHTS COME UP (ALS, AIRBAG, OIL, AND MORE). IT EVENTUALLY WENT OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY. TRAVELING HOME AT 35MPH, VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER - WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 15 MPH MAX SPEED THE 3 MILES HOME, BUT VEHICLE BARELY ACCELERATED AFTER SLOWING OR STOPPING. POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AS VEHICLE DRIVEN INTO GARAGE, DASHBOARD LIGHTING WENT OFF SUDDENLY, BUT VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITH EFFORT INTO GARAGE. FOUR HOURS LATER AT 10PM, STARTED VEHICLE, NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. MORNING OF DECEMBER 10, CALLED DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED IF THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON THIS MORNING, THEN THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY TO WORK WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS LOW VOLTAGE ON THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING PROBLEM AND THEY ORDERED PARTS AND "FIXED" IT ON DECEMBER 18TH, BUT ON DECEMBER 24TH, I WAS ON INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH, VEHICLE ON CRUISE CONTROL. SPEED LIMIT INCREASED TO 60MPH, BEGAN ADJUSTING CRUISE CONTROL SPEED VIA THUMB BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. AFTER THREE THUMB "CLICKS" TO 58MPH, VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER AND BEGAN IMMEDIATELY DECELERATING. POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED TO RIGHT BERM AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. OVER THE NEXT 37 MINUTES, ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE EVERY 5-6 MINUTES. ON SIX DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE REVVED AS ACCELERATOR APPLIED BUT THE ENGINE NEVER "CAUGHT" OR TURNED OVER, IT WOULD DIE AS SOON AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED. ON 7TH ATTEMPT, THE VEHICLE TURNED OVER, AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT EXIT. SINCE THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY, I RISKED IT AND TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME, KNOWING THAT A TOW AT 8PM ON CHRISTMAS EVE WOULD BE EXPENSIVE AND TIMELY. THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR THE 8 MILE TRIP HOME. THE NEXT DAY, VEHICLE OPERATED "NORMALLY" WITH NO POWER TRAIN LIGHT OR AIRBAG LIGHT. SECOND OCCURRENCE. *TR

I DRIVE A 2013 FORD FUSION, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW FROM AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP. BY 3772 MILES, THE CAR BEGAN TO DOWNSHIFT VIOLENTLY, UPSHIFT AROUND 6 OR 7 THOUSAND RPMS, NOT SHIFT AT ALL, THE HEATED SEAT WOULD COME ON BY THEMSELVES WITH NO INDICATOR LIGHTS, THE TRANSMISSION GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND NO KEY INSIDE, THE RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AT WILL WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND LOCKED UP, A SEVERE ODOR OF MILDEW COMES FROM THE A/C WHEN FIRST COMES ON, THE TRIM MOLDING KEEPS COMING OFF, THE CAR HAS LOST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWER, THE LED LIGHTS IN THE TAIL LIGHTS STAY ON ALL NIGHT EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AND ETC. THESE PROBLEMS ARE INCONSISTENT IN NATURE WITH NO IDENTIFIABLE CONDITIONS CAUSING THE SERIES OF NON-CONFORMITIES. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE CAR AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE 12 VOLT BATTERY HAS DIED WHILE THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 24 HOURS OR MORE. THE FUSION ENERGI TITANIUM WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 10 DAYS AND THE DEALER FINALLY REPLACED THE BATTERY AFTER RUNNING EXTENSIVE TESTS. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR IS TOTALLY DISABLED AND HAS TO BE JUMPED. THIS ISSUE TENDS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS VERY HOT OUTSIDE OR THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE SUN. SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY VEHICLE, I HAVE OCCASIONALLY RECEIVED WARNINGS REGARDING A FAILURE OF THE TRACTION CONTROL AND HILL ASSIST SYSTEMS WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP A COUPLE OF TIMES, WITH "NO ISSUES FOUND" REPORTED BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO MY STARTING PROCEDURES, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPEAT THE WARNINGS WHILE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING SPECIFIC STARTING PROCEDURE... 1) REMOTELY START THE VEHICLE (FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE STARTER), 2) INSERT THE KEY AND TURN TO THE FIRST POSITION, 3) KEEP KEY IN THIS POSITION FOR 1-2 SECONDS, 4) TURN THE KEY TO THE RUN POSITION. THESE STEPS WILL CAUSE THE WARNINGS EVERY TIME. BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE WARNINGS ARE GONE, AND THERE ARE NO HISTORY OF THE WARNINGS IN THE VEHICLE COMPUTER. I HAVE SHOWN THIS STARTING PROCEDURE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE COMPLAINED DIRECTLY TO FORD WITH NO REPLY. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY 65-MPH THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING, THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL STARTS ACTING UP AS IF YOU ARE TURNING ON AND OFF THE KEY. THEY FOUND A LOSE WIRE TO THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER ON THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK SIX TIMES AND NOW THE DASHBOARD SHUTS DOWN AND I LOSE LIGHTS, SIGNALS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC FEATURES. I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES IN BETWEEN. THEY OFFERED ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY??? IT IS A SHAME THAT A CONSUMER WHO BUYS A CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP HAS TO GO THROUGH THE GRINDER JUST TO GET OUT OF THEIR LEMON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE KEYED IN THE CODE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS VIA THE NUMERIC KEYLESS ENTRY BUT THE TRUNK ERRONEOUSLY OPENED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS DID NOT ALWAYS LOCK USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED.
