The transmission failed completely. The vehicle will not engage or shift properly and cannot be driven. The failed transmission is still installed in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request.

Coolant is leaking into the head gasket of the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid similar to the other 2014 Ford Fusion cars (they have a recall on them for this issue). Upon calling the nearest Ford dealership, I was told that the recall did not apply to my vehicle, even though the same recall has been made for other 2014 Ford Fusions (just not the hybrid specifically). The safety of the driver and passengers in the car is at risk due to the coolant fluid mixing into the engine oil, eventually causing a blown head gasket and potentially engine failure. This problem was identified within minutes of getting a routine oil change, as coolant was found in the cap of the head gasket. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning signs. The car notified me when I needed to change my oil, but otherwise, no dash lights came on and no notifications were sent to the dash.

On cold startup, a significant amount of white exhaust is sometimes observed coming out of the tailpipes. The exhaust has a sweet aroma and after checking the coolant levels, it appears that the coolant levels have dropped and the exhaust smoke is being caused by a coolant intrusion into the engine block. No warning lights have been observed and it only happens about half of the time.

I was having issues with this vehicle sputtering a bit and the antifreeze was seeming to be disappearing. There were no visible leaks. I took it to the shop to have it looked at. The engine light was on and there was a code for a cylinder 3 misfire. Th mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and, upon removing the spark plugs, noticed they were fouled with what he said was antifreeze in the cylinder (because of the white substance on the electrode end). I saw where there is a recall for the particular engine block that is in this vehicle from 2014 to 2020. When I notified Ford and the NHTSA I was told that my VIN number was not included in the recall. I am confused because I would think that the recall would be for vehicles with this particular block not specific VIN numbers. Please help! I just got this car hoping for a reliable vehicle. I am a grad student and I do not have the funds for such a big repair.

Vehicle flexplate broke causing loss of power in rush hour traffic. Luckily was able to get to the side of the road without major incident or causing an accident. Broken flexplate also caused damage to transmission and ptu. Was informed this is a common issue wiith this yeat make and model but ford refuses to do anything about it. They would rather wait for some peopke to lose their life befor takiing responsibility. But who cares about peoples lives when you have stockholders to pay and ceo bonuses to hand out. Feel its worth mentioning i had the car at the dealership a couple times for other issues and had asked them about problems i suspected were precursors to this happening. They denied there was even an issue. They they told me the noises were normal and refused to even document my concerns let alone actually physically check the vehicle. I believe they were intentionally trying to hide the fact they knew exactly what was going on. Ford needs to take responsibility but since they wont you guys need to make them.

A third party hacked my CPU/Transmission Control System causing malfunction with the engine. The engine randomly would cut off during traffic, and I would need to press gas directly after starting the vehicle to go. My vehicle was fairly new and transmission module should not be ineffective after purchasing my vehicle last July 2023 with less than 80K miles. The notification that makes the vehicle stay in the lane would malfunction randomly notifying me of failure to sensor active crash alert. I also have inability to connect to Ford vehicle app with no reason provided to cut off WiFi connectivity. Please review external IP as I can hear communication of third party observing my way of driving and communication while attempting to drive causing distraction affecting safety of myself, my location placement, and health of the car. Possible CPU/transmission/AC connectivity from July 2023 to Malfunction of vehicle starting 10/2024.

Experiencing repeated coolant leaks. Heating/coolant was repaired last winter. Failed again this winter. Car keeps needing additional coolant added. Will be taking it in on Monday to find out which parts failed this time.

I bought the 2014 Fusion in 2019 used. It had roughly 60 some thousand miles. I had to replace the motor at 94 thousand miles. Now at 131 thousand miles, I am faced with the same issue and need to replace the motor again after only 37 thousand miles. From what the dealer said (Copper Country Ford in Houghton Michigan) both issues have been coolant leaking into the cylinders and killing the motor. The first motor was around $4500.00 and now it is roughly the same $4500.00. So $9000.00 in 4 years!!!!! I called Fo Mo Co and they will do nothing to help. They say there is no recall and or order from NHTSA about this issue. Nor do they have any other programs to help resolve this issue or help pay for the repair. First Motor Replaced August 2020 at 94,000 Second Motor Died December 2024 at 131,000

When accelerating from a stopped position, the throttle is staying stuck wide open. Without my foot on the accelerator, the engine still accelerates wide open. Stepping on the brake, doesn't do anything or make it stop. It has now happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I was not taking off at a fast speed. I was accelerating at a normal rate.

I've had my Ford Fusion SE ecoboost 1.5, 2014 in for service on 2 separate occasions a day apart for the same reoccurring problems. The first service there was the actions done related to recalls which are consistent with 20S15 A-C and recall 23E03 B. The reasons for my Ford Fusion 1.5 to have been brought to the Premier Ford, Waveland, Ms was as follows: The temperature overheat lamp light was jared, there was 3 leaks from the overheat, there was a Shutter and sounds that came from the engine, (LIMP*)and there was no fuel power through acceleration. There had been moisture located on exhaust before brakedown without having been driven for approximately 10hrs before brakedown. 2ed service was as follows: temperature overheat lamp light jared, no power through fuel to accelerate, and issues starting. LIMP* I had not on this brakedown paid attention to if my Fusion needed water, the engines performance in regards to shakes or sounds nor did I look to notice nor did I look for leaks. I called directly to Premier Ford, Waveland and had my Ford towed in. The service was as follows: 1) 3U2Z*14S411*HYB WPT988 WIRE ASY 2) DS7Z*8501*E PW556 PUMPASP-WATER 3) BE8Z*8507*A GASKET-WATER PUMP 4)VC*13*G 3801132 ANTI-FREEZE 5) 6 BM5Z*6K2543*S437 SCREW 6) BM5Z*6K254*A TENSIONER - TIMING BELT With the parts 261.44 Labor 1748.99 misc charges 50.00 for a total of after taxes 2204.66 I picked up my Ford Fusion on October 4, 2024 and on October 9, 2024 I went beck to the Premier Ford and spoke with the service department because I had to stop and let my Fusion cool every 20 to 30 minutes, I stated that there was some loss of water and it was overheating, the power train light warning notify me of an issue, and that my Fusion would not go over 80miles per hr. On [XXX] ford premier out of waveland evaluated my car after I had to have it towed in due to overheating. The high temperature warning notification was lock and wouldn't change to normal after it cooled. I was not fully aware of my car overheating due to no warning other the the temperature overheat warning. A couple of days prior without driving it for 10hrs I noticed a moist to the exhaust pipe. When it broke down the engine had a misfire, a shake, and had not power to the engine to accelerate. There was 3 different puddles of fluids underneath the car. When I had spoke to the service department on this breakdown I made them aware of everything with one of the Mechanics witnessing the shake within the engine. There was a confusion on my part due to the sticker showing a 1.5l and my Insurance showing through carfax a 2.5l with also Descripting a 1.5l that showed for my car to be compatible to a 2.0l, 1.6l Installation of coolant system, that of which lead me to request recalls through Vin# on [XXX] through Verified and it was shown to be compatible for recall. Premier Ford service department Assured me that nothing was wrong with the coolant system that the power train control module reprogramming took care of the breakdown. He assured me when I picked up my car That nothing was wrong with my car. Except for me needing to go, change the brakes so that he could change the brake hoses that are part of the recall associated with the brakes. This was on [XXX]. On [XXX] I broke down again with the same issue with this time before the breakdown there was a stall when I started my car And when they had my car on [XXX] I asked them the check the Fuel Injections and he stated there was nothing wrong with the fuel injections. My car has shown every sign that shows through the coolant system of a fire hazard. I am requesting that the Department to assign the safety recall 17s09 to my vin# [XXX] . Vehicle showing signs of coolant leak with no visible of signs of coolant on ground. Check engine light came on and running rough on startup and high speeds. White smoke and sputtering under load. Took to local mechanic and had signs of coolant in #3 cylinder. Replaced all spark plugs and ignition coils along with thermostat and pressure tested. Vehicle still throwing codes and having heavy misfires in #3 cylinder with coolant loss. Stated will need a new long block. Vin number not covered by recall. But Def needs to be.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the water pump, thermostat, a/c hoses was replaced; however, several days later while driving 65 MPH, the "Engine Coolant Overtemperature" warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. Due to the failure, the vehicle has been towed back twice to the dealer where the mechanic discovered a coolant intrusion into an engine cylinder. In January 2024, while driving the Ford Fusion, I lost power (when I pressed the gas, it would accelerate). I pulled over the best I could (on a 2 lane road, no shoulder, at night). I found that my vehicle had no coolant; it had an oil change within the last 2 months and all fluids were topped off. It was towed to my mechanic and I had to call family for a ride. It was found that the coolant had leaked and burned out, thereby overheating, warping the block/head (placing it in limp mode). It was not holding compression or fluid. For a new engine and installation, I paid $6,800.67. Tonight ([XXX]) my "check manual" wrench light came on and I pulled over to find the coolant was near empty. I was an hour away from home, at night, with my younger brother in the car, in Reno, NV. It was scary waiting for my family to drive an hour to come get me. I paid $97 to have it towed (insurance paid $500). It is now awaiting a second inspection. I just bought this car in 2023 from CarMax with only 55k miles. Now I cannot get to work or college if someone will not borrow me a car and will be forced to walk (not to work, it's 30 miles away). Car was purchased with less than 100,000k miles and within 2 weeks the the car was put into the shop for loss of power while driving and overheating. Had supposedly needed repair and within a week the car overheated again. Paid over 2,000 in repairs and tows due to issue. Car is towed to Ford was told coolant was in the entire and would need to be replaced over $7000. No way Ford should be able to sell calls with known issues and the consumer be responsible for outrageous repair fees. Ford customer service at corporate nor did the dealership offer any type of assistance with the exception of pay for it or start over for scratch which is impossible with today’s inflation. Ford knowingly sold a faulty product and they should be held accountable.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that coolant was leaking into an engine cylinder. The dealer was notified of the failure and was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NTHSA Hotline. Hello, on Saturday May 27th, I took my car in for a regular oil change and thereafter, the rattling noise started the next day, continued rattle had me bring the vehicle back to the dealership on Monday, June 5th. I was informed that my fusion rattling sound was due to the engine flexplate being cracked causing damaging to the transmission oil pump and torque converter. Used chassis ears to pinpoint noise within the transmission bellhousing. Engine flexplat cracked causing out ot round rotation and damage to the transmission. Required transmission and engine flexpalate replacement with alignment due to subframe removal. I looked up online for recalls and found a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12 for 2019-2020 Fusion - Rattle Noise at the Transmission Bellhousing Area - Flexplate Cracks (dated 08-26-22). If this issue affects other Ford years, why is it not included in the recall for older Ford Fusion models especially if the issue is the same as that of the 2019-2022 models? Thank you

Codes P0300 P0301 P0316 - My son was driving and approached a red light - his car began to idle rough and check engine light came on. Instructed him to park the car and we towed to a local mechanic. Cylinder 1 was misfiring and also had a mix of oil, fuel and possibly coolant in Cylinder 1. Apparently this is a defective issue with a 2014 Ford Fusion with a 2.0 Ecoboost Engine and also lawsuits regarding this. Ford dealership confirmed this is a sore issue with Ford and referred to Ford Customer Service --- no assistance and just advised to hold onto receipts in case it is a recall issue -- this is not okay at all. Ford has had plenty of opportunities to correct this with Ford Fusions but still have not!!!!! Very very very upset!!!

Engine coolant over temperature light came on as I was pulling in my driveway. Checked the coolant, it was very low. There’s been no visible leaks on the driveway. Added coolant, turned the vehicle on but the car barely turned over. It’s not drivable. Will need to be towed to the dealer. By all the research I have done, this is a huge issue on this year, make and model with the eco boost engine. This needs to be on the recall program.

My Fusion stalled when exiting a parking lot in a busy downtown area when my 17-year-old son was driving. It restarted and he was able to drive home. After the initial incident, for several days the car sputtered repeatedly. Upon inspection, the Ford dealership indicated the car has coolant leaking into a cylinder causing the performance issues. The Ford dealer service agent indicated I needed a new engine because of the situation. This is just not right. This issue should have been addressed by Ford the right way (when they knew of the design flaw), rather than pushing the problem to its customers, putting their lives and safety at risk.

Awhile back before the part was recalled the shifter cable gasket slipped and the transmission was stuck in park in a drive through fast food restaurant line. Luckily I acted quick and resolved the issue by locating the gasket and dropping the ball into the shifter cable hole. On the highway I noticed white smoke and sputtering/jerking, I took the car straight to ford. Dropped it off and today learned there is coolant intrusion causing the engine to have to be replaced while other vehicles are hnder recall mine is not. This vehicle is a major safety concern.

The engine would not product power from stop to driving speed. This became evident when we were trying to accelerate to make a left turn through oncoming traffic. We were almost in an accident as the car / engine would not accelerate under partial or wide open throttle. I had my wife, child, and a child's friend in the vehicle at the time this issue first occurred. The Vehicle is currently in my position in front of my house. It is available for inspection if needed. The vehicle was inspected and was shown to have no compression in cylinder #2. This was causing a misfire in cylinder #2. This was causing the loss of power. There were no indicators prior to the loss of power. This vehicle was in the same shop a month and half prior to replace a water pump and belt.

I have never missed a oil change and always kept fluids in my car, it has less than 60,000 miles. This a a defective issue in a court case strung out for years about allecoboosts. People are buying these cars like me, i paid $26,000 for mine and having the engine blown shortly after and all ecoboosts are. Coolant level low indicator comes on. Checked level and looked low but I take cap off and level normalized as if there was suction on the reservoir. Replaced the cap. Nothing changed. When I would start the car it would run like it’s misfiring and sometimes stall out completely. Check engine light would come on. Kept checking coolant and it wasn’t low. Sounds like a bad sensor, right? I’ve kept up on my recalls and it had been replaced when that recall came out. I told my mechanic about the issue when I brought it to the shop for oil change and brakes/tires/rotors. He could not replicate the problem because the car kept clearing the code and it never misfired when he started it. (I should mention that at first this was an intermittent issue when it started in July.) I had no choice but to drive the car when I went to visit my mom 5 hours away in early august. I went to start the car in her driveway one morning and within seconds the temp gage went all the way to hot. Obviously the car can’t actually overheat that fast, but regardless, it went into limp mode. This time the coolant level actually was low, however not so low as to merit what was happening. I topped off the coolant level. Started it again. Same thing happened again. Called tow truck to bring to the shop. When we loaded it onto the tow truck it started up and didn’t throw any codes. WTF?! So it goes to the shop and again they can’t replicate the problem. Said a mechanic drove it for over an hour and nothing happened. I pick the car up and drive it back home. Coolant low message comes on a half hour from home. I was away for the better part of august so I couldn’t do anything with the car. Dropped it off at Ford last week. They said I have cracks in cylinder walls and there’s significant amount of coolant in the engine. The mechanic said he’s been seeing this happening with a lot of the 1.6 eco boost engines. I’m just past warranty. I just paid this car off last year. I am infuriated.

Check Engine light and Wrench light illuminated on the car Sunday. However, the car was at the dealer twice the same week before this happened. I pulled over because the vehicle was performing rough into a Lowes parking lot. I was within several hundred feet of a Ford dealer and drove it there. The vehicle smelled like smoke and noise from the rear of the vehicle. Service advisor Roxanne Detgen, t. no. 586-840-1086, at Dorian Ford, says that the car likely needs a new engine. She has contacted Ford motor company and then will contact me to authorize a teardown of the engine. The vehicle is a safety risk because it had sudden poor driving performance without the illumination of any lights, loss of power, and is a fire hazard. In fact, it was at the dealer twice the same week this happened and no lights were on.

SHE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN TESTED DRIVING THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE HOME AS SHE WAS IN ANOTHER CITY. EVERYTHING SEEMED WELL SO SHE BEGAN HER JOURNEY BACK HOME, ONLY TO MAKE IT ABOUT 2 MILES AND THE CAR WAS LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. SHE WAS ABLE TO PARK IT IN A NEIGHBORHOOD AND WAS GIVEN A RIDE HOME. WE THEN WENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AND UPON ARRIVING, I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, BUT THE CAR WAS OFF. I DECIDED TO TRY TO DRIVE IT HOME SO THAT I COULD CONFIRM AND EXPERIENCE WHAT SHE DESCRIBED. I MAINTAINED A LOWER RATE OF SPEED, AROUND 40MPH. I DECIDED TO TRY TO PUT ON CRUISE CONTROL, BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. AT ONE POINT WHERE THE CAR WAS LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND WAS ACTIVELY DECELERATING, I PULLED IN TO A CONVENIENCE STORE. I THEN NOTICES A 'HILL PARK ASSIST' WARNING LIGHT COME ON. I DID FINALLY DRIVE IT THE REMAINDER OF THE WAY HOME. ONCE HOME, I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE POSSIBLE ISSUES AND FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORDS. THERE WAS A SUGGESTION TO LOOK AT THE FLOOR BOARD, UPON DOING SO, I FOUND BROKEN PIECES OF A SILICON TYPE BUSHING. IN SUMMARY: THE 'BRAKE SWITCH ENGAGEMENT BUSHING' BROKE AWAY. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT ENGAGE, HILL PARK ASSIST WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, BUT MOST CONCERNING IS THE VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING AND LOSES THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEEDS ABOVE 20-40MPH, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A DANGEROUS SCENARIO IF TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE.

SEVERAL UNKNOWN TROUBLE CODES WERE CLEARED AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT. AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. VEHICLE'S ENGINE MISFIRES AND STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER COLD START TRIGGERING ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC CODE. FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED INSPECTED (4/23/2019) BUT DID NOT FIND CAUSE OF MISFIRES AND STALLS. I REPLACED THE OEM LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR (11/8/2019) AS SUGGESTED BY OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES FOR LIKE MODEL VEHICLES. THE ENGINE HAS CONTINUED TO MISFIRE AND STALL AFTER REPLACING LOW PRESSURE FUEL SENSOR. DURING A RECENT INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE BY A LOCAL SERVICE CENTER (3/17/2021), THE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT WAS ABNORMALLY LOW. THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND LOW COOLANT SUGGEST A POSSIBLE COOLANT INTRUSION INTO ENGINE CYLINDERS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED WITH OTHER LIKE MODEL FORD VEHICLES WITH ECOBOOST ENGINES (SEE TSB 20-2100). AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AS I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO CUT MY CAR OFF AS TO 'RESTART' IT WOULD ALLOW ME TO DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE. THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED AT LOW MILEAGE. RESEARCH SHOWED THIS A HUGE ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THE FORD FUSION 2013-2015. SIMILAR TO ENGINE PROBLEMS, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE THE LAST THING ANY DRIVER WOULD LIKE TO DEAL WITH. THIS IS BECAUSE IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY ON REPAIR AND REQUIRES A CERTAIN SKILL SET TO GET IT FIXED. UNFORTUNATELY, 2014 FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WERE THE THIRD MOST REPORTED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. IN GENERAL, THE PROBLEMS WERE RELATED TO ISSUES WITH SHIFTING, COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE, AND TRANSMISSION SHUTTERING. MANY OWNERS OF VEHICLES AROUND 28,000 MILES REPORTED ROUGH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, WHICH IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS MILEAGE OF THIS VEHICLE. THE OWNERS DID NOT INCLUDE INFORMATION ABOUT REPAIR OPTIONS OR REPAIR COSTS. LASTLY, A COUPLE OF OWNERS INDICATED FRUSTRATION FROM TRANSMISSION SHUTTERING EVERY TIME THEY DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THEY MENTIONED THAT THE SHUTTERING FADES OUT AFTER THEY DRIVE FOR A LONG TIME. HOWEVER, THE SHUDDERING BECOMES MORE SEVERE WHEN THEY SWITCH FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR VISE VERSA. UNFORTUNATELY, TRANSMISSION SHUTTERING OCCURRED AT RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLES AROUND 5,000 MILES.

I HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR AND HAD IT SERVICED REGULARLY. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED HAVING STARTUP ISSUES WITH WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS INDICATING MISFIRE ON THIRD CYLINDER AND RANDOM MISFIRES ON STARTUP. SHORTLY AFTER THESE SYMPTOMS PRESENTED, THE CAR RAPIDLY OVERHEATED WHILE IN MOTION AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO TWO SHOPS AND BOTH CONFIRMED IT IS RELATED TO A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY ENGINE (1.5 ECOBOOST) FOR WHICH FORD HAS RELEASED MULTIPLE CORRECTIONS IN THE FORM OF TSBS, FSAS, AND CSPS. THE DESIGN OF THE SHORT BLOCK AND THE ENGINE PROGRAMMING HAVE CAUSED THE COOLANT TO PREMATURELY DEGRADE THE HEAD GASKET WHICH LEADS TO COOLANT INTRUSION INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDERS. IN MY SPECIFIC CASE, THE ISSUE HAS PRESENTED IN CYLINDER 3. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE BY THE DEALER FORD OF PORT RICHEY OR THE MANUFACTURER AND IT WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DESPITE THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE ORIGINATING AT THE MANUFACTURER FROM THE DESIGN OF THE SHORT BLOCK COOLANT PASSAGES AND THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING OF THE ENGINE. THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL CONSIDERING IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SPONTANEOUSLY OVERHEAT UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS, LEAVING A DRIVER AND THEIR TWO CHILDREN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

DROVE MY 2014 FUSION WITH APPROX 141,800 MILES ON IT TO WORK (APPROX 30 MILES) THE NIGHT OF 8/25/2020 WITH NO ISSUES OR WARNING LIGHTS UPON PARKING IN THE PARKING GARAGE AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING IT FAILED TO START WITH THE REMOTE. WHEN I GOT IN AND TRIED TO START IT, IT STILL WOULD NOT START AND IT PROVIDED NO WARNING LIGHTS. HAD SOMEONE ATTEMPT TO JUMP IT WHICH OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK, SO WAS IT TOWED TO A NEARBY FORD SERVICE CENTER. THE SUMMARY OF THEIR DIAGNOSTICS WAS AS FOLLOWS: THERE WAS NO COOLANT (WHICH I HAD PUT SOME IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS PRIOR, AFTER THE CAR DID PROVIDE A WARNING THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING. I HAD PRESUMED THAT THE FORD QUICK LANE FORGOT TO CHECK MY COOLANT LEVELS WHEN IT WAS THERE 5/13/20 AND AT THIS TIME IT WAS LOW BUT NOT EMPTY), SPARK PLUG NUMBER 2 HAD COOLANT ON IT, CYLINDER #2 ALSO HAD COOLANT IN IT, AND AFTER CLEANING ALL SPARK PLUGS AND REINSTALLING THEM WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE WHICH SMELLED LIKE COOLANT. IT WAS REQUESTED THAT I REPLACE THE BATTERY AND GET A NEW ENGINE AT WHICH THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF $6526.86. AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND ASKING A NON-FORD MECHANIC, HE AGREED IT WAS A FORD DEFECT. FORD WAS NOTIFIED VIA PHONE AND A CASE NUMBER WAS PROVIDED, BUT SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP WITH THIS MATTER. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THE 1.6L AND 2.0L HAD THAT WAS RECALLED AND FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THE ISSUE WITH THE 1.5L IN SSM 48106. REALLY SUCKS BECAUSE THE CAR RUNS GREAT OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE AND IS CURRENTLY PARKED WHILE MAKING A DECISION TO FIX OR SELL. NOTE: ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORK ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DONE BY FORD.

WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, MY 2014 FORD FUSION 2.0L ECOBOOST STARTS TO OVERHEAT. MY 2014 FORD FUSION HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE AC/HEATER JUST COME ON FULL BLAST SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL.. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I'M TRYING TO DRIVE IN BAD WEATHER. THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN FEBRUARY 2019 WHEN THE DESCRIBED CAR BEGAN TO STALL WHILE IN DRIVE, REVERSE AND/OR PARK. CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THEN DIES STATING 'PRESS BRAKE TO START'. AFTER THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, CAR RESUMES NORMAL FUNCTION. AFTER FIRST TAKING IN THE CAR, THE TURBOCHARGER WAS FOUND TO BE THE CULPRIT. AFTER GETTING A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR DONE, THE PROBLEM RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER. TRAVELING ACROSS THE COUNTRY, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND HAVING MORE WORK DONE, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. WHEN ON CITY ROADS, IN THE DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOTS, THE STALLING CONTINUED. IN ONLY NINE MONTHS, THE NEW SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND TWO ENGINE COILS HAD FAILED. THEN AFTER THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. THEN IN DECEMBER 2019 THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN KANSAS TO BE DIAGNOSED. AFTER CLAIMING THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED WORK OR EVEN WORSE POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT, I WAS FACED WITH THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT TO KEEP THE CAR. AFTER THE CAR WAS FINISHED AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO REPAIR DONE OTHER THAN A RECALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE: MORE FREQUENT AND MORE INTENSE SHAKING. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS MADE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT AFTER MARKET WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE REPAIR, THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT CALLED BACK.

I PURCHASED MY FORD WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER BECAUSE I WAS LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING IN A CERTAIN GEAR AT A CERTAIN RPM AFTER THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE WHICH I HAD THE DEALER FIX. BY THIS TIME I WAS CLOSE TO THE WARRANTY BEING UP. IT DIDNT FIX THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER INTERMITTENTLY OR STUTTERS. I GET P0352 CODES. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH IT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT RECENTLY THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED ON AN IGNITION COIL. I HAVE REPLACED THE IGNITION COILS, THE PIG TAIL, THE SPARK PLUGS, CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID, RECHECKED ALL THE CABLES, AND ONCE THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. IT HAS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION BUT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT THE DEALER CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I ACTUALLY LOST POWER ONCE AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND DINGED A POLL CAUSING A DENT IN MY CAR. THANKFULLY I ONLY LOST POWER ONCE ON THE HIGH WAY AND NO ONE HIT ME. SINCE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY I AM FORCED TO FIND THE CAUSE AND FIX IT MYSELF. I DO NOT HAVE 4 GRAND FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALL. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD HAS THREE ISSUES WITH MY YEAR. 1. IGNITION COILS OVER HEATING DUE TO BAD PCMS OR PROGRAMMING 2. TRANSMISSION BUBBLES OR TEARS FORMING IN THE RINGS 3. CABLE CONTROLS ON THE TRANSMISSIONS. INITIALLY I SENT IT TO FORD OF WAXAHACHIE, TX WHEN THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LOW COOLANT AND SENT MY CAR HOME. 5 DAYS LATER I'M 20 MILES FROM HOME AND IT OVERHEATS AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE COOLANT CONTINUED TO GET INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH WARPED GASKET OR CYLINDER AND THIS TIME IT RUINED MY ENGINE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD AND THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE ANY OF THE BLAME ON THE MISDIAGNOSIS. INSTEAD THEY PREFER I PAY $6,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE.

MY CAR IS A 2014 FORD FUSION I PURCHASED AT THE DEALERSHIP 2 YEARS AGO. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL RECENTLY. AFTER I TURN ON MY CAR AND SWITCH GEAR TO "DRIVE" MY CAR WILL SHUT DOWN WITHIN 20 FEET. I HAVE TO PARK THE CAR AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN; IT ALWAYS HAPPENS LATER ON DURING THE DAY WHEN DRIVING OFF A PARKING LOT. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT NEVER COMES OF, BUT THERE IS CERTAINLY A PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN ON IT'S OWN; IT NEVER SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED, BUT I AM TRULY CONCERN WITH THIS MATTER. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS ADVISED IT WILL COST ME $110.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH I PAID. I WAITED FOR 4 HOURS AND ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC THE ANTIFREEZE IS MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL OCCASIONALLY AND THE COST OF REPAIR WILL BE $2,100.00. WHEN I CHECKED THE CAR ALONG WITH A PERSONAL MECHANIC THERE IS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL, THE OIL IS CLEAN IS NOT MILKY AND IT SMELLS FINE. BOTTOM LINE I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS SERIOUS ISSUE AND EVEN MORE SO THAT FORD DEALERSHIP WAS SO DISHONEST ABOUT THE CAR SYMPTOMS. THE RECALL COVERS CARS FROM 2012 THROUGH 2018 WITH 2-LITER FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINES." I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY KEEP DIAGNOSING IT AS A BAD FUEL SENSORS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. WELL, I'VE REPLACED THEM ALREADY AND THE SAME PROBLEM KEEPS HAPPENING. LOUD NOISE FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR ON THANKSGIVING DAY. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHICH IS 2 MILES FROM OUR HOME. HE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AS A BAD WATER PUMP BUT WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE WATER PUMP WOULD GO BAD AT ONLY 77K MILES. WHEN HE WENT TO ORDER THE PART HE FOUND OUT THAT THE EXISTING WATER PUMP HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED BY A WATER PUMP THAT NO LONGER USED THE ELECTRONICS THAT THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP USED. FORD (FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP)TECHS EXPLAINED THAT THE EXISTING WIRES SHOULD JUST BE CUT AND SHRINKWRAPPED AS THEY WERE NO LONGER NEEDED. HE ALSO LEARNED THAT TO DO THE INSTALL OF THE NEWER VERSION WATER PUMP THAT THE TIMING BELT WOULD NEED TO BE ADJUSTED AND A 'SPECIAL TIMING KIT' WOULD BE NEEDED. THIS REPAIR ACTUALLY INVOLVED REMOVING THE RIGHT SIDE AXLE TO USE THE 'SPECIAL TIMING KIT'. I CAN FIND NO RECALL ON THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED WITH AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PART. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND A PHONE COMPLAINT WITH FORD CORPORATE WAS FILED TODAY. FORD REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHY THE PUMP WAS DISCONTINUED AND OFFERED NO HELP IN COVERING THIS WEEK LONG EXPENSIVE REPAIR. MY LOCAL MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY RECALL WORTHY BUT A SAFETY HAZARD AND I SHOULD REPORT IT TO YOU IMMEDIATELY.

VACUUM PUMP FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS CAUSED LOSS OF POWER BRAKES. NEARLY CRASHED AT INTERSECTION AS I WAS FORCED TO GO THROUGH A RED LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF BRAKES. UPON DISASSEMBLY OF VACUUM PUMP I FOUND THAT THE DRIVER FOR THE VACUUM PUMP WAS BROKEN OFF IN THE CAMSHAFT AND THE PUMP WAS SEIZED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE THAT IF MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER HAD BEEN DRIVING WE WOULD HAVE SURELY WRECKED. ALSO I THINK FORD WILL AVOID THIS ISSUE BASED IN THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRS. SO I HAVE A 2014 FUSION, BOUGHT PRE-OWNED CURRENTLY WITH ABOUT 16,000 MILES. I RECENTLY NOTICED THAT MY CAR WHEN ACCELERATING PAUSES TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE TRYING TO GO FROM 0-60 AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. ALSO AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND HITTING THE GAS PEDAL IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE NO POWER IS BEING APPLIED TO THE ENGINE MOMENTARILY. I WAS STATIONARY, THEN IN MOTION BELOW 10MPH CROSSING AN INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET AND TO MY RIGHT A VEHICLE WAS DOING 40+ IN A 25 AND FLEW OVER A HILL AND ALMOST HIT ME. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF HIS WAY, THIS IS WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM, I SLAMMED THE GAS AND DIDN'T MOVE UNTIL A LITERAL SECOND LATER, LUCKILY HE SLAMMED HIS BRAKES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. REASON UNKNOWN, HOWEVER AFTER EXPERIMENTING IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT SOME MORE, I NOTICED THAT IT ONLY REALLY HAPPENS IN DRIVE, NOT SPORT. ALTHOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC, THEY SPLIT UP THESE SECTIONS AND PROBABLY DIFFERENT "CHIPS" THAT DICTATE THESE CONTROLS. IT COULD BE A DELAY BETWEEN PRESSING THE PEDAL AND RECEIVING POWER. UNFORTUNATELY, I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND RECORD AT THE SAME TIME AS I DON'T HAVE A SAFE WAY OF DOING SO, AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU DON'T ALLOW VIDEO TO BE UPLOADED ANYWAY. VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD WITH MY 2014 FORD FUSION. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR STALLING ON ME. IT WILL SPUTTER, THE RPM NEEDLE RAPIDLY FLUCTUATES ABOVE 1 AND UNDER 1, AND THEN WILL JUST GO TO 0. AT ALL TIMES I AM DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT NUMEROUS TIMES I WAS EITHER DRIVING INTO A BUSY STREET OR IT STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION WHERE I OR OTHER PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, BUT IT IS VERY RANDOM. SOME DAYS WILL GO BY WITHOUT A HITCH AND OTHER DAYS IT WILL HAPPEN 2 OR 3 TIMES. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN IT HAPPENS, IT HAPPENS AGAIN RIGHT AFTER. SO I WILL PUT THE CAR IN PARK, COMPLETELY SHUT IT OFF, AND TURN IT BACK ON, IT WILL DRIVE FOR LIKE 5-10FT AND THEN DO IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE. THE DID A FEW TEST DRIVES AND LET IT SIT AND RUN FOR AWHILE, AND THE CAR DIDN'T STALL. THERE IS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON, SO THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, UNLESS THEY SEE IT FOR THEMSELVES. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME AS I AM SCARED TO DRIVE, KNOWING THAT IT COULD STALL AND I COULD GET IN AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO DRIVE FOR A RIDE SHARING COMPANY, AND IT IS TOO RISKY FOR ME TO PICK UP PASSENGERS KNOWING SOMETHING COULD HAPPEN, AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED RIGHT AWAY AS I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, WHICH MEANS THERE A A NUMBER OF FAULTY CARS ON THE ROAD THAT CAN JUST STALL OUT AT ANY MOMENT AND CAUSE FATAL ACCIDENTS. THEY HAVE FOUND THAT THE TURBO CONNECTOR AND THE TURBOCHARGER WAS FULL OF OIL. THIS INDEED IS COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. SO, THEY REPLACED THE TURBO CHARGER. I HAVE RECEIVED MY CAR BACK WITH THE REPLACED TURBO CHARGER AND I DON'T EXPERIENCE THE ACCELERATION LAG ANYMORE. TOOK TO DEALER ON 5/30/16, DIAGNOSIS WAS VACUUM PUMP FAILURE, NEW PART WAS ORDERED. 7/5/16 GOT A CALL FROM DEALER SHOP MANAGER WHO BASICALLY SAID THE PART WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE MOTOR BEHIND WHERE THE PUMP SITS, CLAIMING DIRTY OIL CAUSED PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO VIEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. I COULD TELL BY SPINNING THE PUMP THAT THE BEARINGS HAD FAILED, MORE THAN LIKELY DISINTEGRATED AND THE SHAVINGS WERE SITTING INSIDE MY ENGINE. THE MANAGER ASKED THE MECHANIC IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE AND HE REPLIED YES. HE SAID HE REPLACED 3 RECENTLY WITH THE SAME ISSUE METAL SHAVINGS BEHIND PUMP. MY CAR WAS ALSO IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MOST IRRITATING THING WAS BEING BLAMED FOR THE PROBLEM, HE STATED MY ENGINE WILL FAIL AND I SHOULD TRADE IT IN WHILE I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH HIM PRIOR TO GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS BLAMED AND HE USED SCARE TACTICS TO TRY AND GET ME TO MAKE A PURCHASE. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN AT A FORD DEALER BEFORE. STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL SAYING MY CAR IS REPAIRED. I HAVE STARTED MY CAR AFTER BEING IN A STORE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THE CAR STARTED AND I PLACED IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A SPACE AND THEN PLACED INTO DRIVE. WITHIN A YARD OR TWO THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT THEN GAVE A MESSAGE TO PRESS BRAKE TO START. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES IN THE LAST FEW DAYS. THE DEALER SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. IF I START DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THEN FORD WILL BE AT FAULT BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE.

I DRIVE A 2014 FORD FUSION SE WITH A 1.6L ECOBOOST AND A 6 SPD MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,500 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. UPON REACHING A SPEED OF 35-40 MPH WHILE ACCELERATING (I SHIFT AT 2500 RPM'S) I HEARD TWO CHIMES SIMILAR TO THE CHIMES THE CAR MAKES WHEN I START IT. ONCE THE CHIMES FINISHED SOUNDING MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLACK EXCEPT FOR THE NEEDLES WHICH ALL CAME TO A REST INTO THE "OFF" POSITION". THEY STILL REMAINED LIT. I HAD NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS. MY CAR LOST POWER AT THE SAME TIME AND THE STEERING BECAME SLIGHTLY HARDER THAN NORMAL. THERE WAS A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THEN NO RESPONSE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO A SIDE STREET WHERE THE CAR COMPLETELY WENT DEAD BY THE TIME I CAME TO A STOP. BEFORE COMING TO A STOP MY BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED DOWN EASIER THAN NORMAL. AT SOME POINT BEFORE COMING TO A STOP MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OFF ONCE THE CAR DIED. AFTER STAYING STOPPED FOR A FEW SECONDS I RESTARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED DRIVING WITH NO ISSUES SINCE. WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND DIED THERE WAS NO STUTTERING OR STALLING. THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF VERY SMOOTHLY. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY PROMPTLY LOOKED AT IT. AFTER CONDUCTING A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC CHECK I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A, 'THROTTLE BODY INCIDENT'. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT APPEARED THAT THE AIR FILTER HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY SEATED INTO ITS HOUSING WHEN CHANGED AT THE 30K MILE MAINTENANCE INTERVAL. THEY CONDUCTED FURTHER PINPOINTING AND LOCATED PARTICLES INSIDE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH THEY CLEANED OFF. THE DEALER UPDATED THE PCM AND CONDUCTED A SATISFACTORY ROAD TEST. SINCE THE INCIDENT I HAVE PUT SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES ONTO THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES. I WAS FORTUNATE THIS OCCURRED ON A ROAD WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC AND WHILE NOT TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED.

WHEN IT IS IN DRIVE AND STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR WITH THE ELECTRONIC EBRAKE ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE THERE IS A KNOCK BEHIND THE FIREWALL AROUND THE TRANSMISSION AREA (LOCATION IS CLOSE TO THE LOWER FRONT OF THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA; WHERE IT IS PREDOMINANTLY HEARD). I ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED; THEY STATED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION. I GOT IT CHECKED BECAUSE OF THE KNOCK AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKED HARD INTO SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. ALSO STARTED TO IDLE HARD (THIS IS AROUND 21000 MILES). THEY MAY HAVE RE-FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION BUT NO MECHANIC CAME AND SPOKE TO ME ABOUT IT. I ALSO ASKED FOR THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE TO BE UPDATED. NOT SURE IF THEY DID THAT EITHER. THE CAR STILL IDLES A BIT ROUGH FROM TIME TO TIME. I AVOIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT CUT ME OFF ON THE EXPRESSWAY BY HONKING THE HORN, SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES AND QUICKLY CHANGING LANES. ONCE EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON, THE ENGINE WAS ON A REDUCED POWER MODE AND PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR DID NOT MAKE THE CAR ACCELERATE. WITH THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY LOOSING SPEED, I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY. I SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE CAR OFF BY MOVING THE KEY TO "ACCESSORY" AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. ONCE RESTARTED, I SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR ACCELERATED NORMALLY AND ALL ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS WERE WORKING. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED EVERYTHING NORMALLY. I WAS SPEEDING UP TO GET ON TO THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN, DISPLAYING THE SAME MESSAGE. HOWEVER, THIS TIME, BECAUSE IT WAS NIGHT, THE LIGHTS POWERED OFF AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT WAS AHEAD OF ME. I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE, PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE IGNITION AND CONTINUE ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS A PROXIMITY STARTING SYSTEM. NO INSERTION OF A KEY IS NEEDED TO START THE CAR. THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO RECOGNIZE THE ELECTRONIC KEY TO YOUR VEHICLE. AFTER SHOPPING I CAME OUT GOT INTO MY CAR AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON WITH MY KEY FOB IN MY POCKET. MY WIFE HAPPENED TO BE SITTING BESIDE ME IN THE CAR WITH A KEY FOB IN HER PURSE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND A MESSAGE SAYING "KEY NOT RECOGNIZED". I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO PUSH THE START BUTTON TO TRY TO START THE CAR. IT WOULD NOT START. THE KEY FOBS WOULD HOWEVER LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR WHICH MEANT THE CAR WAS IN FACT RECOGNIZING THEM BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I CALLED MY SELLING DEALERSHIP FOR ADVICE ON HOW TO START THE CAR. THEY COULD OFFER NONE. THEY SAID ALL I COULD DO WOULD BE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEM FOR INSPECTION. L CALLED TO ARRANGE FOR THE TOW. BUT THEN WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I TRIED ONE LAST TIME TO START THE CAR BY PUSHING THE START BUTTON. AMAZINGLY AND FOR NO REASON I COULD FIGURE OUT AS I HAD DONE NOTHING DIFFERENT THE CAR DID FINALLY START THAT TIME. I DOVE OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER OVER TWO HOURS THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED IT TO NOT RECOGNIZE MY KEY FOBS AND NOT START. THEY KEPT MY CAR OVERNIGHT BUT BY NOON STILL FINDING NO PROBLEM OR CURE TO IT THEY SAID I COULD COME AND PICK UP THE CAR. WHEN I GOT THERE THEY SAID THEY HAD CONTACTED FORD AND FORD HAD NO INFORMATION TO GIVE THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I DID SOME RESEARCH MYSELF HOWEVER ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON FORD'S OWN WEBSITE IN THE "FORUM" SECTION SAYING OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD REPORTED THE VERY SAME "KEY NOT RECOGNIZED" AND NONE STARTING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR VEHICLES.
