Was driving at about 45mph on [XXX] on [XXX] and there was a lower control arm failure on the front passenger side of vehicle. Caused the vehicle to be inoperable. I was able to have someone pull me out of the way to not impeded traffic with the car in neutral but was unable to do much with it. It was late at night so I was unable to really access the damage. My wife had our insurance tow the vehicle to my home a few hours ago on [XXX] and it appears the lower control arm is gone, the axle has detached from the wheel (axle still hanging from bottom of car), pretty bad damage to the inner wheel well, passenger fender, and minor damage to the front bumper and passenger side skirt. I had read there was a recall on this vehicle online and wanted to find out more about my options. The car has just shy of 100k miles and is a daily driver. AdvanceTrac stopped working in my car due a sensor. Had to get it replaced by Midas. When I went to turn on my car and put it in drive it started making an awful grinding sound and would not move and gave me an error code that just said service AdvanceTrac. It was insanely expensive to repair and thankfully didn't happen while I was driving.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a complete loss of power steering on my 2014 Ford Fusion. The issue occurred without warning and was accompanied by multiple dashboard alerts including: “Steering Loss – Stop Safely” “Service AdvanceTrac” “Hill Start Assist Not Available” The steering became extremely heavy and difficult to turn, creating a major safety concern—especially while driving at low speeds or attempting to park. I have since researched this issue and found numerous reports from other 2014 Ford Fusion owners experiencing the exact same failure. While Ford issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (15N01) covering similar issues on 2011–2013 Fusion models, no such support appears to be available for the 2014 model—even though the symptoms and system design are identical. Dealers are quoting repairs in excess of $3,500 to replace the rack-and-pinion steering system, which is believed to be the source of the failure. Given the abrupt and dangerous nature of the malfunction, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect and consider whether Ford should expand coverage or issue a formal recall for affected 2014 vehicles. This is a critical steering safety issue that could easily lead to accidents or injury if it happens at higher speeds or in traffic. Our 2014 Ford Fusion was recalled under NHTSA Campaign Number 15V250000, issued June 24, 2015, for an issue with internal binding and corrosion in the power steering rack which could lead to a loss of power steering assist. In 2015, Brighton Ford (Livingston County, MI) performed the recall remedy. After that service, our vehicle's VIN was removed from NHTSA's active recall list. However, on [XXX], less than 10 years later, the exact same issue occurred again—the steering wheel froze and the front wheels did not respond. The "Steering Loss" warning appeared. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The car was diagnosed and repaired at Balise Ford of Wilbraham, MA. They retrieved DTC C102D:00 which indicates high friction in the power steering gear, a symptom specifically tied to internal binding caused by water ingress, as described in the original recall. The steering rack was replaced at our expense. The repair invoice and technician comments clearly describe the same failure mode the recall was meant to prevent. This indicates the original recall remedy was ineffective in our case. WHAT IS YOUR REQUEST TO NHTSA? We respectfully request that NHTSA: Reinstate our VIN on the 15V250000 recall list, acknowledging that the original repair was inadequate and the defect recurred. Enable us to seek reimbursement from Ford for the repair and towing costs now totaling over $5,400. This situation demonstrates that a single recall remedy does not always fully resolve the safety issue. We hope NHTSA will help ensure affected owners are protected and treated fairly. On May 15, 2025 I experience a loss of power steering assist in my vehicle due to steering gear bold corrosion. There is a recall for this exact same issue, 19S26/19V632, issued on 2019-10-11, however, Ford is telling me my VIN number is not included in this recall. They are also claiming this problem was fixed as part of their recall 19R02 back in 2015. As part of the more recent recall, the remedy calls for replacing the bolts and applying a corrosion inhibitor, but they obviously did not do when fixing recall 19R02 back in 2015.

I currently have no open recalls on my vehicle however I feel as though my vehicle is apart of the the national recall involving the steer column. My vehicle jerks at high speeds randomly and I sometimes lose control. This issue has been seen by multiple mechanics and they’ve done numerous inspections but can’t find the problem. They only tell me they think it may fix the issue but none are certain. I’ve gotten two wheel alignments within a year and each time I’m recommended a wheel alignment by a different mechanic. I’ve bought several tires of this issue because the wear on my tires keeps wearing out and causing my tires to blow out. I believe it involves the national recall.

Around [XXX], I began experiencing issues with the electric power steering system in my 2014 Ford Fusion. The steering became noticeably stiff and difficult to turn, especially at low speeds. A warning message appeared on the dashboard — something like “Service Trac” or a similar alert. Despite the warning and steering difficulty, I was able to continue driving the vehicle for about a week, but it became increasingly unsafe and physically demanding to steer. The vehicle has approximately 138,000 miles and was purchased from a dealership in Michigan just a few months ago. The issue has not been inspected by a Ford dealer, but an independent service center diagnosed the problem as a failure of the electric power steering system. I was quoted $2,400 for a new part or around $1,000 for a used one, not including labor. I checked my VIN using Ford’s official site and confirmed there are no open recalls or Customer Satisfaction Programs for the steering system on this vehicle. However, this issue appears to match the symptoms described in Ford recall 19V632000, which applies to some 2014 Fusions with the same steering design. My vehicle appears to be excluded from that recall. Given the widespread nature of this defect and the serious safety risk it poses, I believe the recall should be expanded to include more affected VINs. This failure could easily result in loss of control at higher speeds and represents a hazard to both occupants and others on the road. While driving on highway, my 2014 Ford Fusion suddenly reported loss steering power and it was requiring a greater steering effort to make a small turn. I have to stop unexpectedly on highway. This incident reminded me that a day or two, I started to feel some roughness while turning in low speed locally. But it didn't affect driving.

The contact restarted the vehicle 3 times before being able to turn the steering wheel; however, the power steering functionality remained inoperable. The contact stated that the Service Advancetrac, Lane Keep Assis system malfunction, Hill Start Assist Not Available, Steering Assist Fault, and Service Required messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The dealer suggested that the contact take the battery to be tested. The battery was tested and there was no failure found with the battery. I recently noticed that the bolt that secures the steering wheel to the steering column has become loose. This seems to be the same problem for which a recall was issued but my vehicle wasn't included in the recall. I haven't had anyone look at it yet because it just started coming loose.

Was departing in my vehicle for work, only got a short distance from my home and experienced a sudden loss of power steering. Vehicle became extremely difficult to steer and I was fortunate that there was not much traffic or was not at speed or in the middle of a turn when it happened. I have not yet taken it for service, it just happened, and when I searched the issue I found this has happened to many 14 Fusion owners but my vehicle VIN is not on the recall list. The dash lit up with a number of warnings: STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, STEERING FAULT. The only symptom that I can remember before the incident happening this morning was the feel of small bump of reistance in the steering wheel as I was turning last night on my way home.

This is the 2nd time this has happed to me with this car. 2014 Hybrid Ford Fusion has Electronic Power Steering that is controlled by an electronic sensor. When I power steering went out (on my way to Las Vegas), I brought it to the Ford Dealer. They said I needed a new power steering column. After 3 days and doing nothing with my car, I lost my patience. To make me happy, they reset the error code and everything was magically fine - for 3 straight years! Was the power steering column bad? No! The sensor had to be cleared and reset. Now it locked up again. Looking for someone to clear this again. I am not spending $1,800 for this. This should be a recall issue for sure. 1000’s of instances!!! Stop delaying and make this a recall issue. The word “SAFETY” in NHTSA should mean something.

On my way home from work I turned into my driveway and my power steering just went out and when I went to start it up again ti see if it worked the steering wheel wouldn't even move. Sometimes it'll move but will be very very hard to turn when parked and other times it won't move at all. This is a known problem that needs to be fixed, luckily I wasn't on the road when it happened but plenty of other people have been and it's a couple thousand dollar fix. Whenever I start the car I get an alert saying power steering assist, uphill assist and advancetrak all require service which fits in line with everyone else's issues. I'm not sure why this hasn't been addressed yet but it should've been dealt with fat sooner. This is an error that could very easily cost lives if it were to happen on the road especially like the express way.

My 2014 Ford Fusion lost all power steering and this seems to be a very common problem and when I called Ford customer service they said the VIN did not have a recall for this issue even though it seems to happen to a lot of people. This is a very dangerous situation and I can't afford to fix it so please make them do a full recall for the effected years not just specific VINs because obviously the issue is still continuing in 2024.

The power steering went out, it caused me to swerve into other lanes on the highway with me and my children in the car. I took the car to the Ford dealer and they confirmed the power steering rack and pinion needed replaced, which would cost over $3000 to repair. The power steering was reset during diagnostic so I took it to another shop for pricing, they stated the reach and pinion was bad and they quoted me $4000 to repair. I parked the car and when I drove it again the power steering completed went out. I could not afford the repair, it caused me to lose my job, fall behind on car and rental payments for my house causing is to be in eviction now. I had it towed to a shop and the mechanic asked if there was a recall for this issue because he had had multiple people come in with the same issue, he suggested we all get rid of these cars because this has been a continuous issue and the company won't do anything about it. I'm left with a $20,000 dollar payment for this car and the company is no help. It put me and my kids lives in jeopardy and put us in a horrible position financially.

My transmission has failed multiple times. Luckily my car is under warranty, because I have been able to have it replaced twice, but both times, these malfunctions have put my life and countless others in danger, because the failure is sudden and not preceded by any warnings. This problem has reproduced twice and been confirmed and fixed both times by Sun’s Auto in Spring Texas. The vehicle has been inspected recently by the manufacturer as my shifter bushings also disconnected as part of a separate recall, resulting in a similar situation as the transmission failure. There have been no warnings prior to any of these issues occurring, and at this point recalling individual parts is not sufficient. The transmission and shifter bushing issues alone cost more to repair than the car is worth at this point, and they are extremely dangerous, especially when combined with the other active safety recalls for this same car such as the brakes, door latches, and steering. Almost every aspect of this car is unsafe as manufactured .

A few weeks ago I was driving and had to pull over for a few minutes in front of an elementary school. When I started my car back up to leave I had NO POWER STEERING, actually probably no steering at all as I could not even budge the steering wheel. I had to have my car towed to be repaired. I do not understand why my car is not included in the recalls. I did some research and my car was manufactured at the Hermosillo Mexico factory in the time frame of the recall. So why is my specific car not included? I have also seen many other complaints online when it comes to this issue, so should'nt all the fusions built at that plant at that time be recalled? What if the power steering failed prior to me pulling over? In front of an Elementary school the outcome could have been tragic. I called Ford Motor Company and they were no help at all. I wanted to at least be reimbursed for the part which was $1330.73. What can I do?

While driving on the highway, I noticed a "hitch" in the steering. The car would wander one way or the other and when I attempted a normal, minor steering correction, the wheel would hit a "hitch" which would require a little more of a tug to get past the "hitch". It became a real issue to drive the car in a straight line without zig zagging down the road, because minor corrections could not be made without a tug. When I got off the highway onto two way traffic, the issue was more concerning as tugs were needed to be made to keep the car from pulling towards the road centerline into oncoming traffic, then back towards the ditch. The "service advance track " and "uphill assist" warning messages appeared as well as the traction control off icon. The Ford garage indicated the Power Steering Control Module: Replace PSCM (steering gear) includes PMI and transfer outer tie rod ends/ 2 tie rod end nuts and steering shaft bolt + 4 wheel alignment when completed. There have been multiple recalls for this issue but my vin # not included in recall, even though I bought the car new in Michigan and it has remained in Michigan. From the many complaints I see on your sight, this is a known safety issue. Somebody is going to end up getting killed from this issue if they haven't already. Please take this very dangerous situation seriously and force the hand of Ford into recalling all defective vehicles. Ford's bottom line is not more important than even 1 life. Vehicle cannot be safely driven, it is currently at the shop for repair, estimate is over $2,700.

Since receiving the Fusion from the previous owner, there had been a "dead spot" in the middle of the steering.  I didn't think anything of it as it didn't have an effect on performance. While driving down the highway, I received a "steering assist failure, service required".  The car was operating just fine so we continued home.  Upon starting a few days later, the message re-appeared and the steering was tight with the engine running.  I put the car in drive and got more warnings, "not in park", "hill assist not", and the steering message. Trying to turn the steering wheel with the engine running was more difficult than an old truck with no power steering. Did not drive the car. After a lot of research, this appears to be a known failure but one not applicable to this VIN #. The Fusion has electronic powering steering (EPS). The main issue is the seal around the shaft that lets water in and either ruins the electronics or rusts the bolts and other parts.   Unfortunately if the EPS has failed, it is about a $3,000-$4,000+ repair; quote not from Ford.  The EPS alone is about $800-$1,000 re-manufactured or $1,500+ new from Ford. (Ford wouldn't give me a direct quote without seeing the car.) I plan to use a trailer or flatbed to take the car to a dealership to have them look at it in person as well as read the computer codes. Researching further in car forums and Fusion forums online, I found a few people that have had this repair covered under warranty (this car is no longer under warranty, miles or years).  My other concern is that this is a possible known issue but this VIN is excluded for some reason. If the repair is not covered by Ford, we will be donating the car or selling it for parts depending on which is easier at the time. (This is a hail damaged car that isn't worth the price of the repairs).

2014 Ford Fusion hybrid bought brand new, ordered it out of the catalog and have been the only owners. Passed it on down to my husband when I purchased a different Ford in 2019. He started the vehicle, backed out of a parking space and began to drive home from a family event. Suddenly he reported he had to turn the steering wheel extremely hard to make the curves on a very winding road! He immediately slowed down and noticed AdvanceTrac system and Steering Safety alerts come up on the dashboard as well as something about Incline Assist. Both of our children were with him! I could have lost my entire family yesterday, on my youngest's birthday!!! Unfortunately it occurred after 5pm on a Saturday so I haven't gotten in touch with anyone at the Ford manufacturer or local service shop to have it inspected or an estimate for repair. I'm so thankful my family made it home safely but extremely upset with Ford after reading the multiple number of reports of the same thing happening on the same year and model! I have always stood by the Brand, buying only from them and attending Ford only car shows! I seriously don't know what to think right now.

The power steering failed on my 2014 Ford Fusion. As I was driving I received a system alert and pulled over within a mile - the power steering was still functioning at this time. I pulled into a parking lot and turned the car off. When I restarted the car there were multiple similar alerts and the power steering was not functioning and the steering was locked up - almost impossible to move. Even the tow truck driver commented on how he was unable to budge it. I am lucky that I was able to pull over and park my car before the power steering failed. I had to get it towed to a local repair shop and they confirmed that the problem was corrosion in the fasteners or bolts of the electric power steering motor that caused the power steering motor to become dislodged. They informed me that there was a service bulletin out for this particular issue on Ford Fusions and to try to contact Ford about it. There is a recall for 2014 Ford Fusions regarding this issue but my VIN did not fall in the recall so Ford will not help with it. The repair shop was unable to do anything so I now have to have the car towed another 30 miles to a Ford dealership. The repair shop also told me as they were looking into it that the part alone would have cost $1200 and there will be additional programming needed.

I first bought my 2014 Ford Fusion in 2020, a few months later the electronic power steering failed and locked up while the vehicle was in motion going 45MPH on the highway. Luckily, I was able to pull over far enough to wait for a tow truck to take me to a repair shop a couple miles away. The repair shop told me I needed my electric power steering rack and pinion replaced, they quoted me $2000 for parts, labor and realignment. I got my vehicle towed to my father's house as I do not have that kind of money and proceeded to order my own electronic power steering rack and pinion online which cost me $682.76 which my dad and I installed together. Fast forward 2 years later my power steering is starting to stiffen up again while driving and likes to 'stick' to the side I am turning the steering wheel to. This is a serious safety hazard which can and will end up putting someone in the ICU or even cause death. Ford Motor Company NEEDS to issue a recall for the electronic power steering in the 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles. I will more than likely need to replace mine again just after 2 years of replacing it, I do not have the money to replace my power steering every 2 years. The first time this happened my car was at 76,000 miles and now at 107,400 miles it is happening again. I have read countless complaints online about this exact issue for the 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles of all trim levels. Located in northern New England. High salt area during winter. Very unlikely steering motor just stopped working without the elements having effect on an improperly sealed unit. The service steering assist light came on as the power steering was no longer functioning. I was driving when this occurred and had to wrestle my vehicle into the gas station I was coasting towards. Luckily, I wasn't going very fast and was able to find a safe area to pull over quickly. There was no other warning or indication that there may be an issue with he electric power steering system. I had the vehicle towed to Grand Island Auto Tech who diagnosed it as an internal steering rack failure. The steering rack is/was left at the garage as I believe it had a core charge. No one other than the repair garage inspected the steering rack.

I purchased the car from Carvana in February of 2021. 2 months after purchase there were issues with the steering. I brought it to a mechanic to find out that the bolts had corroded and were completely sheared off causing the steering gear motor to be seperated from the steering gear. I found that this make and model (and year) of my vehicle is well known for this exact issue and was subject to a recall in august of 2019 (recall number 19V632000) however my VIN is not flagged as having this issue (which it clearly does as i cannot even drive my car now). My car was originally sold in Michigan and according to the carfax has remained in areas where road salt would be an issue for the bolts in question. I have contacted Ford and been told there is nothing they can do. It is now a very costly fix and i still owe on the car. It is clear that the recall needs to be expanded to additional VINs immediately. Incident date reflects date car was officially diagnosed at an official ford service center. Ford uses sub par bolts and as such a system that should last the life span of the car did not and i am left paying. The diagnostic report was vague and wrong - a recall fix was never completed

I talked to the dealership and they say they have seen this happen with Ford Fusions with less than 20K miles and it has been quite a problem. I also looked it up, and there are a lot of us that have had this happen with low miles and low years of ownership. This is such an issue that Ford doesn't even replace it with the same part and has a revision they are installing.

A warning message appeared referring to the steering system and hill assist. I have had the vehicle since 2017 and kept up maintenance as recommended by Ford. The steering becomes difficult at low speeds but improved with acceleration. This is a safety hazard because when slowing down to make a turn the delay from the struggle to turn the steering wheel could result in a collision. I have had the vehicle towed to the dealership for service. When checking recalls on the NHTSA app by YEAR/MAKE/MODEL, I discovered that this issue is common for drivers of my particular vehicle. See info below from www.NHTSA.gov: “ Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.” I live in NC and the vehicle has been through 3 Winters which could be responsible for the issue since salt is constantly spread on the roads to make driving conditions safer when ice and snow are present; however, NC is not one of the states being included in Recall number 15S14. I feel that NC should be included considering salt is used during winter.

I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ENGINE AND CONSULTED THE OWNER'S MANUAL WHICH ADVISED RESTARTING THE ENGINE AFTER WAITING AT LEAST 10 SECONDS. WHEN THE SAME SERIES OF ALERTS RECURRED, DESPITE THE LACK OF POWER STEERING I DROVE IT TO BORGMAN FORD MAZDA IN GRANDVILLE, MICHIGAN. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO AN ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION/FAILURE WITHIN THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT "FIX" WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER ANY FORD MOTOR WARRANTY OR RECALL AND THAT THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR WAS $2200! CONTACTING FORD MOTORS' CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY PROVED FRUITLESS SINCE MY WIFE WAS TOLD THAT FORD MOTORS WAS UNABLE/UNWILLING TO OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BUT BUT THEY DID STRONGLY "SUGGEST" THAT WE HAVE THE REPAIR COMPLETED BUT TO "SAVE OUR RECEIPTS" JUST IN CASE AT SOME FUTURE TIME A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM WAS ISSUED. REGAINED POWER STEERING AFTER RESTARTING CAR BUT THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THREE DAYS SO I TOOK IT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK AND REALIGNMENT. TOTAL COST TO ME WAS $2200. I HAVE NOTIFIED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE OF THE ISSUE, BUT OF COURSE, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN YET. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER, ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ FROM OTHER CONSUMERS ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT FOR THIS MODEL YEAR EVEN THOUGH A RECALL HAS NOT YET BEEN ISSUED.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH AND PROCEEDED TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, MY STEERING WHEEL FROZE AND I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE TURN, ALMOST CRASHING INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME THAT WAS AT A STOP. I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE WHEEL TO TURN AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT USING QUITE ABIT OF FORCE AND WAS ABLE TO PARK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT TOWED AWAY. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 47K MILES AND WE ONLY DROVE IT ABOUT 4K MILES LOCALLY WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. ALL MAINTENCE WAS KEPT UP AND NO OTHER ISSUES UNTIL NOW. DEALER QUOTED $2K FOR REPAIR. WE ARE CALLING FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AS ITS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALER SAID ITS NOT RECALLED IN THE FORD DATABASE BUT YET THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND THE RECALL LISTED MATCHED WHAT WE WERE DIAGNOSED WITH.

AFTER HAVING TO DRIVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN THIS CONDITION, I AM TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT HELP ME OUT SINCE THERE IS NO DIRECT RECALL UNDER MY VIN NUMBER TO MATCH THIS CAR ALTHOUGH THERE ARE MULTIPLE STEERING RECALLS ON TOP OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OPENED FOR THIS EXACT CLAIM I AM HAVING. I HAVE BEEN PASSED BACK AND FORTH FROM THEIR MANAGEMENT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO CARE OR SYMPATHY WHATSOEVER FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH OR INJURY OF MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME. ON AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION MAY ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED BY THE DRIVER. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN 'PARK,' WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. IT BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING 6 WEEKS AGO, TOOK IT IN THEY SAY IT IS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM NOW WITH ESTIMATED COST OF 2K TO FIX. NOT HAVING THE MONEY, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT DID NOT ACT UP UNTIL LAST WEEK. IT CONTINUES TO GO OUT, WITH NO RHYME OR REASON, AND WHEN I STOP, TURN THE CAR OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY, THEN RESTART IT, IT FIXES ITS SELF. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING THAT WAS "REPAIRED" IN OCTOBER CAN BREAK AGAIN IN A DIFFERENT WAY WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. EVERY TIME I DRIVE I HOPE THAT THE STEERING DOES NOT GO OUT WHILE I AM IN A CURVE, BECAUSE THAT COULD RESULT IN ME WRECKING. THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH FORD POWER STEERING THAT I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME, UNTIL THEY ACTUALLY GET IT RIGHT.

LIGHTS THAT CAME ON STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED, HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. THESE ARE THE LIGHT AND WARNINGS THAT CAME ON. THIS MAKES IT TO WHERE THE CAR HAD NO POWER STEERING AND VERY HARD TO MOVE THE WHEEL. I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY'RE CURRENTLY LOOKING AT IT FOR THE CAUSE. TWO LIGHTS HAVE COME ON THE DASH BOARD AS WELL. BOTH HAVE TO DO WITH STEERING.

MY WIFE ARRIVED AT WORK AND SHIFTED THE CAR INTO PARK. WHILE EXITING THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. SHE HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP IT. WHILE THE DASH AND SHIFTER SAID THE CAR WAS IN PARK IT WAS REALLY IN NEUTRAL OR REVERSE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE REPLACED THE SHIFTER CABLE ASSEMBLY AND TOLD ME THAT A SMALL PLASTIC BUSHING BROKE AND THATS WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $410. THERE IS NOW A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY WILL NOT REFUND ME THE MONEY BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER MORE FUSION'S. ALSO - I FOUND OUT THERE WAS AROUND 5 INCHES OF WATER IN MY TRUNK DUE TO A BROKEN SEAL. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER & I BEGGED THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THEY ARE, STEERING LOSS STOP FOR SAFETY, HILL START ASSIST UNAVAILABLE, AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE ADVANCTRAC. I ENDED UP TOWING IT ALL THE WAY BACK TO NORFOLK FROM EMPORIO. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE THAT HAPPENED WHEN MY CAR WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY. BUT THE THE TOWING COST IS REALLY HURTFUL. SAD PART IS, I JUST GOT MY CAR SERVICED PLUS MULTI-POINT INSPECTION BY FORD DEALER ON DEC 20TH, 2017. EVERYTHING WAS REPORTED AS GOOD, APPARENTLY NOT.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND THE STEERING COLUMN FELT VERY LOOSE. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR BUMP IN THE ROAD, JUST AN IMMEDIATE LOOSENING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE AND TURN THE VEHICLE SO I TOOK IT TO D PATRICK FORD IN EVANSVILLE, IN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 3 BOLTS RECALL#15R01 WHICH THEY REPLACED FOR FREE, BUT THEN CHARGED ME $848 TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT AS THEY SAID IT WAS WORN. I QUESTIONED THE RECALL ON THE BOLTS BEING THE CAUSE OF THE STEERING COLUMN ISSUE AND THEY SAID NO IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN FROM ME USING THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET UP OUT OF THE CAR. I DO NOT EVER RECALL USING THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, IT HAD 95,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME AND I WAS THE SECOND OWNER. THE FIRST OWNER PUT 18K MILES ON IT AND THERE WAS NEVER A CAR ACCIDENT.

AFTER HAVING THE CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MY HOMETOWN, I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALL AND IT WOULD BE OVER $2,600 TO REPAIR. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT THEIR RESPOSIBILITY. MY MAJOR COMPLAINT HERE IS THIS IS CLEARLY A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE ANYONE WHO IS DRIVING ONE OF THESE CARS TO CRASH IF THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING FAILS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAR IN QUESTION HAS ONLY 51,XXX MILES ON IT. FORD WILL NOT BUDGE NOR WILL THEY EVEN SPLIT THE BILL.

THIS CAR ONLY HAS 40 TO 50 THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND IS VIRTUALLY WORTHLESS. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS $1,500 TO $2,000 AND IT COULD FAIL EVEN SOONER. THE PROBLEM IS HEAT RELATED AND FORD HAS TRIED A NUMBER APPROACHES TO FIX THE PROBLEM DURING THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE HALF A MILLION RECALLS THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT TELLS ME THAT IT IS SIMPLY A BAD IDEA AND SHOULD BE SCUTTLED. WAITING FOR MY APPOINTMENT AT FORD TO RUN A $150 DIAGNOSTIC SO THE CAN TELL ME THE EPAS IS OUT WHICH I WAS READING ABOUT IN THE MANUAL, WHEN I WAS LOOK FOR THE POWER STEERING FLUID WHICH I WAS LOOKING FOR DURING THE ONSET OF THE PROBLEM TO CHECK, AND COULDN'T FIND. RECALLS ABOUT CORRODED BOLTS AND SOFTWARE REPROGRAMMING ARE NOT FIXING THE FUNDAMENTAL FLAW. THE CASE THAT IS UNDER LITIGATION IN CALIFORNIA IS EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. WHEN MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT NOTICE AT WHICH TIME HE WAS UNABLE TO EASILY STEER THE CAR. HE MANAGED TO GET THE CAR INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT WHERE WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE STEER GEAR FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH THERE A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NO 15R01, FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS GEAR, MY REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE THE GEAR DIDN'T FAIL AS A RESULT OF FAULT BOLTS. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND AND EXPERIENCED GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IN DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM, AT WHICH TIME I WAS TRANSFERED TO TJ BREWER (THOMAS), THE GENERAL MANAGER FOR THE WEST MARKET. I NEVER SPOKE WITH TJ AS SOMEONE NAMED MARK ANSWERED AND INDICATED THAT HE WOULD BE HAPPY TO GET THINGS STARTED FOR ME AND PASS IT ALONG TO TJ. MARK WAS RUDE AND BELITTLING. HE ACTED LIKE I WAS TRYING TO GET A FREE HANDOUT AND TOLD ME THAT MY REQUEST FOR REPAIR FOR THE KNOWN STEER GEAR FAILURE HAS BEEN DENIED. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH TJ AND MARK SAID THAT HE HAD ALL OF THE AUTHORITY TO APPROVE OR DENY MY REQUEST AND THAT NO EFFORT OF MY OWN WOULD OVER-RIDE HIS DECISION. I ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS ANY MANAGER THAT I COULD SPEAK WITH AND HE TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE ALL BUSY AND HE WOULD HAVE THEM CALL ME BACK. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM MARK, TJ OR HIS MANAGER YET. I FOLLOWED UP WITH A CALL INTO FORD MOTOR COMPANY AGAIN, WHERE I MY SITUATION WAS HANDLED EXPERTLY AGAIN BUT TOLD THAT TJ WOULD BE THE LAST AUTHORITY AND HAVE THE FINAL SAY ON WHETHER FORD WAS GOING TO DO THE RIGHT THING OR NOT.

I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE HARSH GEAR SHIFT ON DECEMBER 13, 2015 EVERY TIME I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. ALSO, WHEN I REACHED 20MPH AND 40MPH I FELT THE HARSH GEAR SHIFT AND THE CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON DECEMBER 14, 2015 AND THEY SAID THE MOUNT FOR THE TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN. THE TECHNICIAN WASN'T THERE TO CHECK OUT THE CAR IN ORDER TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS MECHANICAL OR NOT, BUT THEY DID THE WORK ON THE CAR ANYWAY AND ON DECEMBER 16, 2015, THE DEALER CALLED TO SAY THE CAR WAS READY. IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS THEY DID NOT TEST DRIVE THE CAR AFTER SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRING THE MOUNT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING, EXCEPT WORSE. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY, THE TECHNICIAN WAS THERE AND SAID IT IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. I ASKED FOR A LOAN SINCE THEY SAID A PART HAD TO BE ORDERED AND THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND I WAS TOLD I COULDN'T GET A LOANER. INSTEAD, THE DEALER SAID MY CAR WAS DRIVABLE AND DID DELIVER GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. IT FELT AS THOUGH HE WAS TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND NOT TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER. THEN HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THERE MIGHT BE A FURTHER PROBLEM, BUT COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT IT WAS. I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH FORD. I HAD THE CAR SINCE MARCH 2014 AND SHOULDN'T BE EXPERIENCING A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON THE STEERING BOLTS AND I DIDN'T RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL.

MY SON AND HIS FRIEND WERE DRIVING HIS 2014 FUSION ON A TWO LANE ROAD THAT MAKES A 90 DEGREE TURN TO THE RIGHT WHEN HIS POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AS HE CAME TO THE TURN HE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE WENT STRAIGHT AND LEFT THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A SMALL TREE AND SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FENDER AND THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. AN ACCIDENT REPORT WAS MADE. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THAT THE COULD PUT THE VEHICLE ON A COMPUTER TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, IT WOULD COST ME $135.00 PER HOUR FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND IT COULD TAKE 2-6 HOURS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE NEEDED REPLACED IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $2,000.00. THE VEHICLE HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. I DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME AND CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS. IT HAS BEEN PAST THE 15 WORKING DAY PERIOD FOR A REPRESENTATIVE TO CONTACT ME AND I HAVE STILL HEAR NOTHING FROM FORD. TODAY I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP.

I HAD THE ENGINE CHECKED FOR NOISE; MECHANICS AT OPELIKA FORD AL STATED IT MAY BE MY FUEL RAIL AND FUEL FILTER WHICH MAY BE CAUSING CABLING BEHIND THE FIREWALL TO RATTLE. IF THAT IS THE CASE I SHOULD HEAR THE HARD KNOCK WHILE IN REVERSE OR PARK. THEY STATED THEY TIED BOTH DOWN INCLUDING THE CABLES TO SEE IF THE NOISE SUBSIDED (TOOK THEM TEN MINUTES TO DO THIS WHICH IS QUIET FAST TO ACCESS THE FUEL RAIL AND FILTER WHEN THE AREA IS TIGHT TO ACCESS IN ORDER TO TIE CABLES DOWN). I ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED; THEY STATED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION. I GOT IT CHECKED BECAUSE OF THE KNOCK AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKED HARD INTO SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. ALSO STARTED TO IDLE HARD (THIS IS AROUND 21000 MILES). THEY MAY HAVE RE-FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION BUT NO MECHANIC CAME AND SPOKE TO ME ABOUT IT. I ALSO ASKED FOR THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE TO BE UPDATED. NOT SURE IF THEY DID THAT EITHER. THE CAR STILL IDLES A BIT ROUGH FROM TIME TO TIME. THE ISSUE IS STILL ON GOING AND I AM IN SEARCH OF A "FORD CERTIFIED MECHANIC" TO ACTUALLY SHOW ME WHAT IS WRONG SO IT CAN BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. FORD HQ STATED THEY DO NOT KEEP TRACK OF INFORMATION DONE ON THE CARS IT IS LOCAL TO THE DEALERSHIPS WHICH IS STUPID. SO HOW ARE THEIR RECALLS DONE IF THEY AREN'T REQUIRED TO KEEP TRACK OF PROBLEMS?

ON 7/7/15 WHILE ON THE 99 GRAND-PARKWAY FREEWAY MY FORD FUSION SUDDENLY STARTED DRIFTING AND WASN'T ALLOWING ME TO TURN BACK IN THE LANE CAUSING MY CAR TO SPIN OUT AND LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH INTO A BARRIER. SHORTLY AFTER I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 7/11/15 CLAIMING THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND A MECHANICAL FAILURE. FORD MOTOR MENTIONED THE GENERAL COUNSEL WOULD REACH OUT IN 15 BUSINESS DAYS AND THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS ON FILE. HOWEVER, SHORTLY AFTER I FILED THAT COMPLAINT FORD SENT A VEHICLE RECALL REGARDING POWER STEERING CORROSION (INTERESTING TIMING). I HAVE ESCALATED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND STILL NO LUCK OR CLARIFICATION OF WHY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GENERAL COUNSEL.

ONCE THEY GOT THE CAR THERE THEY LOOKED AT IT THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY WITCH WAS MONDAY THE 30TH THEY CAME TO A CONCLUSION THAT THE CARS NETWORK HAD SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING . WAS DRIVING CAR IN THE PARKING LOT LEAVING WORK AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP ON IT, I STRUGGLED TO TURN THE WHEEL AND IT WOULDN'T TURN.
