Car began leaking coolant, overheating, smoking (white smoke) and misfiring on cylinder #3. Based on my research, this is an issue Ford knows about due to it being a defect in the design, yet I'm being told I have to pay to replace the engine. We replaced the spark plugs, coils, and nothing helped. We took it to a mechanic and were told we need an entire engine replacement and it won't be covered by Ford.
I have been having issues with the vehicle where it will stall. This even happened when I was driving on the NJ turnpike, it stalled while driving and I had to pull over (thankfully I could) to restart the vehicle. It took the dealer 3 weeks to finally figure out the issue and tracked it down to a bad BCM (Body Control Module). I researched this further and found some interesting information. A significant number of 2015 Fusion owners report similar electrical glitches, with some experiencing a complete loss of power to multiple systems, including the center console, AC, and power windows. Diagnostics have identified water intrusion and corrosion in specific connectors, such as C134 near the front bumper, as a root cause, which can be resolved by cleaning and applying electric grease. However, a failing BCM itself is a common diagnosis, especially when multiple systems fail simultaneously and no other obvious cause is found. Replacing the BCM is a known solution, but it requires programming with the vehicle's specific as-built information and PATS key programming to function correctly; a new OEM BCM typically costs around $500. The BCM must be programmed using specialized diagnostic tools like Ford IDS software or equivalent, and the process includes steps like parameter reset, CEI configuration, and battery monitor sensor reset. While some owners have successfully bypassed the BCM using an external relay for specific functions like parking lights, this is a complex workaround and not a standard fix for a failing BCM. Persistent issues, especially those that recur after resets or component replacements, often point to a defective BCM, though other factors like a faulty wiring harness or a bad ground connection should also be ruled out. Given the prevalence of these problems across 2010–2019 Ford Fusions, some owners have advocated for a recall, citing safety concerns.
I got an engine temperature warning, then I noticed the coolant reservoir was empty. I filled it back up and everything went back to normal. I was driving down the interstate when the check engine light came on. I had a few misfires and was able to make it back to a dealership, who then diagnosed the vehicle and said it coolant intrusion due to an engine block leak. Charging over $9000 in repairs
I have a 2015 Ford Fusion Ecoboost t back in 2019 took it to Ford for regular maintenance and they told me it had a recall for another engine (coolant intrusion) at that time I had no problem with my car so needless to say I was shocked . Now 2026 August 15 my car shuts down coolant temperature warning comes on , I pulled over had a mechanic look at it and he tells me the head gasket is no good coolant intrusion This is a safety issue and cars could catch on fire 🔥 Called Ford they said nothing they can do . All I can say is shame on Ford they need to do the right thing and fix these Safety issues.

Coolant leaking into cylinder 2, misfire (P0302), overheating, and white smoke from exhaust. Mechanic diagnosed potential head gasket or coolant intrusion issue. Vehicle is out of warranty. This seems related to known issues on EcoBoost engines, including TSB 19-2208 for later models, but no recall exists for the 2015 model. Major safety concern and potential engine failure
We purchased a used car for my son to use in college. While driving on the hwy, the car started loosing power and just died on the side of the road. He was towed towed to a Ford dealer and was told he was leaking coolant into cylinder #4, which is a KNOWN PROBLEM AT FORD and an active recall for model years 2016-2018. Our 2015 has the identical failure mode and is not covered in the recall!! We were told $9000 to replace the engine block ... It only has 84,000 miles on it!!!!
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was overheating, and the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact turned off the vehicle for three minutes and then immediately drove the vehicle to the local mechanic. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics. The first independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the head gasket had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the mechanic was unable to perform the repair. The vehicle was then towed to the second independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN associated with the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 144,000.

I was driving on the highway in my car stop going then it start rolling backwards a little then i hit the breaks then put in park in put it back in drive then it started driving again then my brake lights came on and didn’t go off for about a week I have to unhook the battery I have a 8 year old son I was on the way to the hospital because my grand father was on life support when all this took place there was trucks going around us we almost got hit my three car thank god I made it home safe then I got. Home in my car just keep getting load as if I’m hitting the car there’s a load sound it makes when I start it up in i dont feel safe driving it … when out it being check out i really need some one to look at it
The vehicle started to over heat because the vehicle is loosing antifreeze through the head/engine block wall. This is a 1.5L Ecoboost motor. I had the water pump and radiator lines replaced 2022 by Gorilla Techs, but that did not fix the issue. It has progressively gotten worse over the course of two years. Other Ford owners, they have had engine repairs covered. However, the recommend solution is to replace the engine with a long block engine. This repair is a result of poor engineering. A new engine from Ford is priced at $6,000 and does not include labor or other one time use parts and fluids.
My 2015 Ford Fusion with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine experienced a complete engine failure due to a coolant intrusion in cylinder 3, which is consistent with Ford TSB 20-2100. In December 2023, I brought the car to the dealership due to rough starting and a non-start issue. No coolant related codes were detected at the time. In May 2025, the vehicle began running roughly and showed codes PO316 and PO303. The dealership diagnosed low coolant and coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, with a rust and fouled spark plug. I believe this is a progressively safety-related engine defect that can lead to sudden loss of power and unsafe driving conditions.
I only have 85k miles on my 2015 Ford Fusion. One day the check engine light came on, my car started stalling, shaking, and making noise. I stopped the car and checked the engine- coolant was exhausted. Upon taking to get it checked- the head gasket and short block were blown/cracked. The coolant had leaked into the engine. This should not have happened on a car with this low of mileage. I did my research and this is a well known issue for Ford Fusions during this time range. I called Ford and they told me there is nothing that they could do.
Coolant Intrusion in Cylinder 2 and 3.
After check engine light and the coolant fluid low light came on, I took it to a ford dealership and was told that they found there was a coolant leak which caused the engine to fail and that the short engine block needed to be replaced and it would be 9000 dollars to repair. so we are now faced with paying for a repair that is double what the car is worth or get a new car. there was never a recall for the coolant leak even though Ford knows its a known issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust pipes before the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The contact stated that there was a leak coming from the catalytic converter and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a blown head gasket due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was provided a case number and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

The engine (1.5L EcoBoost) has suffered a failure due to coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, which has led to repeated engine misfires. Trouble codes P0303 (misfire cylinder 3) and P0316 (misfire on startup) were found. The vehicle is currently available for inspection, and a diagnosis was performed by two Ford-certified mechanics using a borescope, confirming the presence of coolant in the combustion chamber. The misfires cause rough running, hesitation, and potential stalling, especially during startup and acceleration. This creates dangerous situations in traffic, such as loss of power while merging or crossing intersections, increasing the risk of a collision. Both technicians concluded the engine has coolant intrusion and recommended a short block replacement as the only viable fix. I was quoted approximately $10,000 for the repair. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer (Ford), but despite acknowledging this is a known issue with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine in various Ford models, they are unwilling to assist with covering the cost of the repair in my case. The Check Engine Light initially came on intermittently and then became constant. Symptoms such as engine misfires, rough idling, and hard starts appeared around the same time, several weeks ago, and have progressively worsened since.
In March of 2022 the engine failed on the vehicle. When I took it in for repairs, at the dealership where we purchased the car, I was told the engine needed to be replaced because coolant had leaked into the motor. I was told when the repairs were made I would not have this problem anymore. Three years later the same issue has occurred again and I took the vehicle back to the same dealer. This time they are trying to blame maintenance; saying there is sludge in the motor. The problem with this is the oil was recently changed (within 3500 miles) and the mechanic at the dealership did not identify any sludge or coolant in the oil. The dealership was told by the service engineer not to repair the motor. I looked on line and there reddit forums from people across the country having the same problem. What they are saying is the same thing the dealer told me. Ford is blame the customer claiming lack of maintenance. This is just a talking point because what everyone is being told is the same. Ford needs to be place under investigation. Law suits against Ford are documenting Ford knew the ecoboost engines had defects from the start and do not have a way to fix the design flaw and are refusing to make amends. Additionally these lawsuits are documenting the band aid repairs Ford is doing is simple to push the problem off and later not claim responsibility when the same malfunction occurs. The owners of Ford cars with ecoboost engine are out tens of thousands of dollars and have endure hardship inflicted by Ford that go beyond the vehicle damages. Ford should be placed under federal investigation and I believe it is possible criminal conduct may have occurred given the position Ford has taken in and its continued failure to make amends.

Unknown. La palanca de cambios no funciona. No se pone en parking y cuando el carro se apaga no quiere prender.
Engine overheats to cause enough damage to loose all compression and power then fail to restart mid-drive even at highway speeds in passing lanes next to a semi tractor trailer. Had to have vehicle towed in after walking ½ mile to gain enough service to call for help/tow truck. Engine then requires replacement to run.
Coolant is leaking into cylinder 3 of the engine causing a misfiring and code P0303 to present itself. White exhaust is seen when the vehicle is turned on. Lots of vibrations present and the check engine light stays on. My mechanic provided me with the documentation of what he found and said it would cost 14 thousand dollars to replace. Mechanic said to bring it to a ford dealership to confirm their findings. I went to a ford dealership and explained to them what was found by my mechanic and told them to do a diagnostic on their end. The dealership confirmed the findings and sent all documentation to ford corporate headquarters with price quotes and everything so that they can repair the issue since this problem is seen on all ecoboost engines in all ford models. Ford corporate denied everything and said that my vehicle was too old and that this is not a known "issue" with their vehicles. I searched online and found multiple people having several issues with ford fusions that have the ecoboost engine problems. Ford is denying everything and they know this has been an on going issue for a long time. The first time this issue appeared for me was on May of 2024.
I own a 2015 Ford Fusion with over 160,000 miles on it. I noticed a substantial loss of coolant inside the car and decided to take it to a Ford dealership in October. I was told that my coolant was internally leaking into the combustion chamber. I decided to research why this issue occurred only a few weeks after buying the vehicle. I discovered that the 2015 Ford Fusion's engine, the 1.5 Liter EcoBoost engine, has an issue where the cylinder walls are too thin. This leads to a crack in the wall, which causes coolant loss and possible overheating. So, with that in mind, I was cautious with driving it long distances in fear of overheating. However, on Friday, November 1st, because of the coolant intrusion, the car overheated and now cannot be driven and needs to be repaired by replacing the engine.

Check engine light, Code P0303. #3 cylinder misfire. Coolant leaking into cylinders 2 & 3 due to faulty casting of the short block. This was a known defect of 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine by Ford Motor Co. No recall was issued. I was not notified of this defect until it happened. Ford covered repairs for some vehicles but not mine stating I was not within the required timeframe. I had to pay $7200.00 to repair this problem. I only had 80,000 miles on the car. I feel a recall should have been issued on all these cars since Ford knew about the defect. Please look into this and require Ford to issue a recall. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the RPM's immediately surged to 3,000 RPM. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who observed a crack in the engine block, allowing coolant to leak into the head gasket. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 22-2322. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My vehicle will not turn on after refueling, but there are no signs of visible damage. The check engine light remains illuminated, and the code read for the O2 sensors. The RPM jump up and down at the slightest push of the accelerator, and occasionally the engine will shut off when RPM drops to idle speed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated abnormally and lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was determined that cylinder #2 had low compression, there was scoring on the piston wall, the piston ring was damaged, and the long block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO COOLANT GETTING IN THE CYLINDER. THERE IS A TSB ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. NOW FORD IS OFFERING NO ASSISTANCE IN FIXING THE PROBLEM.
Prior to leaving for a weekend trip, we filled our 2015 Ford Fusion with engine coolant, as it was low. After returning from the trip, we started the care and noticed some white smoke coming from the tail pipe. While traveling around 20mph, the check engine light on the dash began to flash, and the car began to shake violently. We pulled over, and identified that the engine coolant was empty. We stopped at a gas station to fill it up. Upon returning home, we scheduled an appointment with our independent mechanic, to check for a coolant leak. He was able to recreate the white smoke, after noticing that the engine coolant was empty again. He filled it back up, and 24 hours later, the coolant was empty, despite the car not being driven. He advised that there is a possible leak, and he would pressure test it. After testing it, he confirmed that there is no leak in the coolant lines, however, there is a suspected leak within the engine.

I noticed the coolant level keeps getting low. There was a large amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. It sounds like water in the dash. Now the car is barely drivable. No warning lights have come on.
Spent savings on my kid’s car. Now Needs New Engine I bought my kid a 2015 For Fusion from my best friend. It was under 100k miles. I purchased it in December. She had checked out, regular oil changes. She never had issues aside from the brake light. I paid $8000. With tax, tag, title and insurance start, it was over $9000 We take it in January took to my mechanic whom I have been using almost 20 years, very reliable and honest, for oil change and to fix the wiring of the brake light. That cost a few hundred. March the AC went out. That was about $1400. Then took in for next oil change and had to get rear brakes done, which was prepared for that one, it was time. That was a few hundred. Then the car starts shaking, take it back, they replace a coil pk and some other stuff. That was almost $300. I am almost $13000 in, it has taken my emergency savings. Breaks down again, told no compression in cylinder three. After he takes it a part, the piston is burnt up and has caused damage to the cylinder. It needs a new engine. I have to order the engine, which is $2700 to $3100 and my mechanic is gonna do it for $1800, which includes the additional parts like timing belt. I talked to ford as everyone I talk to say it is super rare to have to replace the engine under 100k miles. My mechanic said he read up on this car and the 1.5/6 turbo engines have a tendency to burn up. I think Ford should be responsible for this obvious defect. Not sure how to go about it. Ford told me that I have to have it looked at by the Ford dealership. The dealership said they could run a diagnostics & see if Ford will do anything but I have to bring them the car put back together. It took my mechanic 6 hours to break it down. He said he would have to charge me if he had to put back together. I dont know what to do. 1. The Ford dealership in Glendale, CA refused to do the brake pedal recall, but it shows as complete. The car was bought at this dealership and never had work done to the brake pedal. (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 23V162000). 2. The car burns oil way quicker than it indicates. This has happened twice to me now where I had to replace the entire engine because I completely ran out of oil before I was due for a change. I check my oil religiously after that because there are no signs of leakage. I checked my oil [XXX] after having my oil changed on [XXX] and its bone dry I have only driven under 3000 miles. I still have over 2000 miles until im suppose to change my oil and its only been 2 months. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I brought a 2015 Ford Fusion and the airbags was missing as well as unrepairable overheating issues in the engine. I replaced the whole cooling system and the reason for overheating still can’t be determined. I brought the car for $5000 and had $3000 of work done and it is still not drivable. The dealer refused to fix it or give a refund. I still have not been able to drive the car.

My vehicle began having low coolant, smoking from tail pipe, running erratically, and numerous codes including ( P-300 codes). My only transportation and before I made it home the engine turned off completely and did not crank or turn over at all.. I felt the engine was about to catch on fire and so I got out and called family member for a tow and ride home. My car has been sitting in the driveway for at least 2 months. Im a veteran, and making it to doctors appointments is a big issue.

This car has cut off (lose power)twice while driving. Crank back up fine . It’s definitely a hazard if your on the interstate.
My 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5L Ecoboost has exhibited behaviors that are reflected in TSB 22-2229 or the most updated version of this TSB. Ever since I purchased the vehicle in January 2023, I have had to refill the coolant reservoir more than 5 times, and have had blueish-white smoke billow from the exhaust. Just today, February 12, 2024, when leaving my house, upon acceleration, the same tinted smoke was expelled from my exhaust, leaving a cloud in two different spots in my neighborhood. And when I left work later this evening, I had to refill my coolant AGAIN because the reservoir was empty! If Ford knows this is an issue, why has no recall happened?
We notice antifreeze was disappearing at a very fast rate without a sign of a leak found out it was leaking in the engine
Coolant intrusion into cylinders of engine. Coolant leak into the cylinders can lead to corrosion, misfires, engine failure, and even potential car fires. Local ford mechanic confirmed thus was the issue and that he's personally seen SEVERAL others. No warning lights

The vehicle exhibited zero heat when driving to work. It was operating roughly with misfiring occurring. Significant exhaust smoke was emitted during this time, enough to obscure vision in the neighborhood. I brought the vehicle to a repair facility, where they diagnosed it as extremely low on coolant, the probable cause of the lack of heat. A malfunction indicator light signified a misfire per the repair facility. They performed a pressure test on the coolant system, which held overnight. Based on those diagnostic results, they opted to replace the spark plugs. This did not resolve the issues. I contacted the dealership to inquire about further repair options, but they indicated no assistance was available after reviewing the vehicle's VIN. The vehicle lost all power while driving on public roads, placing myself and others in jeopardy.
Previously, about 5-6 times the car experienced sputtering and then stalling shortly after a warm engine restart. After 2 tries, the car would continue running. No check engine. No codes stored. Final time (before a scheduled shop visit) it stalled on a busy 4-lane road at rush hour and would not restart. Wife managed to manuever into the middle turn lane. Would not restart. Car displayed (unhelpfully) to check the owners manual. Towed to Firestone who found bad spark plugs (in particular cylinder 3) showing coolant leakage. Firestone seemed to be aware of the systemic issues (said replacing plugs was not solving the root problem, but they don't do engine replacements. Estimated that the car might run correctly for maybe a year. Car stalled again 3 days later). Coolant level was low. My experience seems similar to many others (ie., 2013-19 engine coolant leak). Car at dealership.
Engine Coolant Overheating Warning.keeps coming on. Engine coolant sensor 1 code amd Cylinders 1 and 2 misfiring codes on reader. Having to replace coolant every couple days. Afraid engine will be damaged and possibly catch fire.
Engine blew up on highway, No warning codes. 38k miles. From dealership report/ found coolant low and entering #2 cylinder. Found coolant in oil. Recommended replacement of engine.

2015 Fusion with 1.5t ecoboost only 57,700 miles on it. Engine is bad. Coolant got into Cylinder heads. Ford is calling it coolant intrusion. Never heard of repairing an engine with low miles. Repair quote is $7,500. I guess Ford extended powertrain warranty on 2017 and newer to 150k 10 years. While my 17 year old son has to figure out how to pay for this. Ford customer care had nothing to offer, not even cover parts. I guess there’s a class action lawsuit filed.

My wife's Ford Fusion started having issues in 2021. I was responding to check engine lights for things like spark plugs, O2 sensors, variable valve solenoids, etc. Eventually, as these check engine lights continued, in 2022 I took the car into the dealer to have it diagnosed. They told me that the whole engine needed to be rebuilt. They obviously see this problem frequently, as the woman I spoke to had lots of familiarity with the specific problem with these Ecoboost engines. She said that engine coolant will leak into the cylinder and cause lots of problems like the ones I was experiencing, and can even lead to a fire. The only solution they had was to rebuild and replace the cylinder head for $10,000. It was not long after the visit to the dealer that the car starting misfiring. It is very violent and the engine is running on only 3 cylinders most of the time. It is not safe to drive anymore.

The power steer system went out on my car with no warning , the catalytic converter is going out . This car have caused me more problems than a little. The dealership are full so you can’t get any recall done. This is a bad car and should be off the lots. I can’t get reimbursed for no work I put into this car because I didn’t take it to the dealership. This is unfair to me I work very hard for my money. This is about the third complaint I have sent and no one has responded. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND FORDS.

Headlights do not work. I have replaced the low beams bulbs 3 times since purchasing my car over three years ago and each time the lights only work for a brief period of time them seem to short out unexpectedly, for no reason whatsoever. The high beams have been replaced multiple times as well. I purchased the fluorescent bulbs for better night vision. The lights were bright for a short period them dimmed and are only as bright as they should be if they were on low beam. This is some sort of an electrical issue or something to do with a manufacturer’s defect. Since I purchased my vehicle almost 4 years ago, there has been an ongoing issue with the transmission or alternator. The car “jumps out of gear” when putting the vehicle into park or when shifting the vehicle into drive from park. There is also a constant loud “humming/vibration” sound that clicks on and off continuously once the car is initially crunk up. The passenger door is coming off due to the loosening of bolts I assume but I’m not certain. Nothing has happened to cause this issue. The power outlets in the vehicle get extremely hot at times and cause phone cords to heat up. This has caused my phone to be destroyed! The rear view camera is now blurry with lines going through it. This is only happening when the car is put into reverse and rear view camera is in use. The Bluetooth and media in the vehicle gets stuck on “Sync Line In” & at times will not change to any other setting. This seems to be an electronic issue as well. There have been MANY recalls on my vehicle and I have taken it to the Ford dealership for repair each time however, none of these issue have been resolved . I am a single mother who work’s full time and is a full time student. This is my only form of transportation. I should not have to worry rather or not my car is safe for my children and I.

Short Block Replacement After Coolant Intrusion is affecting our model year 2015. Ford only placed a service recall on years 2017-2019 however the same issues are affecting the prior years and Ford is doing nothing to help consumers rectify this matter. Our 2015 Ford Fusion the 1.5L EcoBoost engine is exhibiting a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and run in a rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction. Our car dangerously broke down on road and Ford never sent us a letter of the known issue in their car.

There is coolant slowly leaking into cylinders. I am having to put antifreeze in reservoir every other month. I am afraid it will ruin engine or catch on fire.
The engine codes stated that cylinder 3 was misfiring, and all of the spark plugs were replaced. The check engine light went off for a few days and then came on with the same code. Then all of the coil packs were replaced. A few days later the engine light "coolant overheating" came on and the engine started running rough, the computer stated that it was shutting the car down to half power. There were visible signs of coolant sprayed all over the engine. After allowing the car to cool off for 2 hours the car continued to run rough and display coolant overheating. The car was unable to reverse but could go forward. The car was taken to a mechanic and cooling issue codes came up. The cooling system was tested and the water pump was checked before the coolant was found to be leaking into cylinder 3. The car was not repaired, as this is the second engine for this car with approximately 130,000 miles.

i have bought this 2015 ford fusion brand new. In 2017 the problem of having the engine stalling started. I took the car to the dealership they din't find nothing wrong since than the problem has continued on and for 2 or 3 week. the injector have been cleaned air filter changed i even use a higher octane fuel. the problem has been going on for 5 years I have told the dealership several time Finaly on november 27 my car stopped in the middle of the road with the engine light on that never came on before. took it to AAA diagnostic: coolant leaking into cylinders.need new engine. It seems that this problem is recurant and can be dangerous on rush hours traffic
Coolant leak into my short block engine
A flaw in design allows coolant intrusion into the cylinders ruining the engine and requiring engine replacement. TSBs have been issued on this problem which is caused by a flaw in the design. The car drove fine Monday morning, 9/19/2022 On Monday evening, driving 80 mph, (which is the speed limit on the 130 Toll Road), the car suddenly started shaking, slowed and did not want to accelerate and the check engine light started flashing. The car was checked with OBD reader, error code P0302, a misfire in cylinder 2. The next morning, 9/20/2022, after confirming with Ford service that it would be ok drive, drove 5.5 miles to dealership, with the car shaking, vibrating & check engine light flashing. On 9/22/2022 we were told the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of about $11,000. After researching online, I found there is a known design flaw on the Ecoboost engines that allows the intrusion of coolant into the cylinder and the only repair is engine replacement. Ford has been aware of the flaw in design on the Ecoboost engines for years but continued to manufacture and sell them putting peoples lives in danger by selling a car that can suddenly lose power, vibrate violently and possibly catch on fire if it overheats. There is a Customer Satisfaction Program 21N21 covering the short block on 2017-2019 Ford Fusion Ecoboost cars but nothing on prior years. Per a Ford Customer Experience Specialist I was informed that financial assistance on my car ended at 7 years or 150,000 miles; any assistance they could have offered ended on 9/14/2022; 6 days prior to the incident. I was informed that how Ford determines financial assistance is proprietary and no further explanation could be given.. I understand the car is 8 years old; however, a well-built car with low mileage (53,590) should not need a new engine. What happened to Ford “Built to Last?” Ford needs to stand behind their products and do the right thing by covering the costs of repair due to a design flaw.
Had check engine light code P0302 #2 cylinder misfire. Took into ford dealer for diagnosis. Problem was coolant intrusion into #2 cylinder due to engine design. Recommended engine change. 2015 1.5L ecoboost.
Ford has been putting this Eco Boost engine in their cars for a very long time. They are two class action suits about this particular engine and that it leaks coolant into the engine. NO ONE told any of us consumers about this problem. In fact they put out service bulletins to the dealers but we were never told anything about it. You are also putting this problem into an engine category when most of those claims are specifically for this problem (11 is what you state but you need to look at your 184) . I am alerting all the complaints about this to file a claim about this very situation. This is truly shameful. You have a co. profiting over the consumer and no one is doing anything about the engine problem. We are now told the car needs a new engine at the tune of 8000+ dollars and honestly no one can even tell us when the parts are available! We could have made a more educated decision had we been told. 2) 1.6L EcoBoost Overheating Issues There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to problems with the Ford 1.6 EcoBoost engines overheating. There have been several lawsuits, service bulletins, and recalls related to overheating problems. In 2017, Ford issued a recall for some 2014 Escape, 2014-2015 Fiesta ST, and 2013-2014 Fusion models. The main issue seems to be running low on coolant, which causes the cylinder head to overheat, crack and leak oil. Some even ran into fires due to high pressure oil leaks. Ford added coolant level sensors as part of the recall. As of recently, there is a lawsuit that claims the Ford 1.6 EcoBoost has an inherent flaw. It alleges coolant leaks into the cylinders thereby causing corrosion, engine failures, and possibly even fires. We’ll leave it at that since there’s quite a bit of info out there regarding the recalls, service bulletins, etc.
Spotted another puddle under the car. Took to local shop & told left front caliper is leaking and both front calipers need to be replaced. Also told the cooling line to turbo is leaking & needs to get repaired. Having vehicle towed to dealer as unsafe to drive. When I drove vehicle back from shop, low brake fluid light finally came on. I have also had both brakes lines replaced twice in the last 5 years & transmission replaced. Believe this car may be a lemon.
While I was driving home from work my car shortly turned off while I was on the freeway. Luckily it turned back on in time that nothing happened. A couple days later while driving home from work my car started violently shaking while driving since then I did not drive the car and took it to a mechanic for inspection. Soon inspection they found a Cylinder #2 misfire resulting in the need to replace entire engine. Car has 67,000 miles and has been kept in great condition. There is no reason for the engine to be breaking at 67,000 miles. I will now be paying about $8,000 for a new engine on a car that originally cost me $12,000. I have only had this car for 3 years. I am aware that the 2016 model of my car had a recall on the engine for a similar issue and I believe the 2015 should be recalled as well. Not only is a faulty engine a huge expense for the owner, it’s also a huge safety concern for the driver and other drivers on the road.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and approaching a stop sign, the check engine warning light illuminated and he saw white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact drove to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

The brake lights remain on, car started jerking in traffic, no control of car function other than park and drive. Call around dealerships, they either didn't have the part, reschedule me time after time, then I had to wait. Now car is not working
The block is cracked causing coolant to intrude into it. This intrusion is causing engine to perform poorly and has a hard time getting up to speed which could result in getting rear ended...especially on the interstate. It could also cause engine to overheat leaving us stranded on the side of the road. Ford is aware of this problem and has even redesigned the block but there is no recall for it. I have not drove the car to have it inspected but spoke with a dealership over the phone about what my car was doing and they knew exactly what the issue was. My car started off idling roughly followed by a P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire). This started a few months ago...changed out the spark plug and problem went away for a while but last week we got a message saying engine coolant was overheated. We no longer feel safe driving it anywhere.
The SERVICE ENGINE SOON icon appeared. Three days after, I went to Auto Zone to try to find the issue and the issue was unknown. The day after, the SAFETY ALERT icon appeared and immediately after, the message TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK appeared. The 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid slowed its acceleration to under 20 mph and upward to 35 mph and returned to under 20 mph. Search with the vehicle's VIN number on NHTSA website, shows that VEHICLE MAY POSSIBLY HAVE A DAMAGED/BROKEN/MISSING TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING. Safety of others put at risk because when vehicle acceleration and deceleration process slowed the vehicle into incoming traffic and creating a problem in the flow of traffic. Cannot get vehicle to a dealer for inspection.

This garnish purge valve near my engine constantly has issues. It usually cause warning light on and cannot start my engine
The car began to sputter when cold starting and after a couple of days the check engine light came on. I took the car to the dealership and they said the coolant system leaked into engine causing a cylinder to misfire. This resulted in the engine block cracking and was replaced. This was confirmed by two separate repair centers including a Ford dealership. There is currently a class action lawsuit because of this problem happening with Ford Ecoboost engines.
I am not sure what part or components, but I am experiencing a smell of some kind that is making me sick. As in, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, headaches and migraines. This only happens when I am in the vehicle and only at certain times throughout the day. I've been vacationing for several months now and this is a reoccurring problem. When I am driving the smell is trying to put me to sleep and I have to pullover on the interstate to sleep and I have been putting the windows down to try to stop the reactions I am having. But, the smell continues even when the engine is not running. That is the best way I can explain the experience that I am having. Thank you so much and have an absolutely amazing day.

2015 1.5L Ecoboost misfiring/running rough/coolant level low. While driving highway speeds engine began to lose power and shutter ultimately shutting down causing significant lose of braking and steering. Prior to this incident the check engine warning light came on and after having it scanned, code 0302 (misfire in cylinder #2) had caused the warning light. I replaced all four coil packs and cleaned the spark plugs because they only had about 30k miles on them from recently being routinely replaced. Light came on again when this incident occurred and once the vehicle was able to be scanned again it displayed codes: P0300 (random misfire), P0301 (misfire in cylinder #2), P0304 (misfire in cylinder #4) and P1450 (unable to bleed fuel tank vacuum). The car is no longer able to be driven. As soon as I started researching online what the issue could be it became very apparent that I was not the only individual(s) to encounter this exact same problem. After spending hours upon hours reading all of the reports involving Ford and the 1.5L Ecoboost, I assumed that my troubles were over. However, that was not and still isn't the case. Ford has admitted to a "design flaw" in the engine block of the 1.5L and even redesigned it. They also issued a number of TSB's (Technical Service Bulletin) detailing the symptoms, solution and parts. What they did not and to date have not done is issue a recall or offer to repair the thousands of engines that are affected by their "design flaw". I rely solely on my 2015 Fusion to commute to and from work in order to make a living. I still owe $4,807.18 on the car, following the TSB it will cost another est. $6-$8k to repair, but the problem I am facing now is I can't get to and from work to earn a living because the 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5L Ecoboost is not able to be driven due to "coolant intrusion". WHY ARE MANUFACTURERS ALLOWED TO FATTEN THEIR WALLETS BY CHEATING CONSUMERS AND NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS???
Coolant leak into the cylinders. Car overheating due to low coolant.
This car will randomly shut off while driving at any speed on hot days. The display will say "Transmission not in Park" then the instrument cluster will go dark and the engine shuts off. There is no check engine light and there are no ODB codes presented. I have to wait some amount of time, which varies, before it will turn on again. It has also not turned on from sitting for more than eight hours on two hot days. This is very much a safety issue and searching the Internet I find it is not uncommon with Ford Fusion and Escape vehicles with no discernible solution being presented. My auto shop has looked at the vehicle and replaced the fuel flow sensor but it did not fix the issue. I have replaced the key ignition switch and immobilizer ring and pulled every fuse and cleaned the contacts with no resolution.
As I was driving, it felt as if my car had turned off or had no fuel, but no engine lights came on and i had fuel in my tank. Also all my electrical stuff stayed on, only lost power on the accelerator. My safety and others safety was put at risk because there were no warning signs i just had no "Go power" and no one around me knew my car had no power which could lead to an accident, serious injury or death; if on highway traveling at high speeds and it randomly dies. I took my car to a mechanic and they stated everything was perfectly fine they did a full diagnostic and the computer didn't show any errors in operation. This happened 3 times in one day at random times, i could put the car in park and re-start and it ran fine. however i did have to hold the key forward longer for the engine to turn over.

The check engine light came on and I immediately took it to the local Hunt Ford dealer. Upon inspection, there was leaking of coolant into the cylinders and now the engine has to be replaced. The total cost for repairs is approximately $8300. I'm told that the problem has been corrected in the new engines. After talking with Ford Service and a local car repair shop in Franklin, KY, I learned that this is a common problem with Fusions and Escapes and both have replaced many motors. Unfortunately, my car has not been recalled nor was I made of the widespread problem through Ford (my engine is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine). I have done further research into the matter and I'm shocked and disappointed that Ford has not been transparent with consumers about this matter. I have taken immaculate care of my car, serviced it routinely, and always quickly responded to recalls. Now that I know more about the faulty engine, I do recall some random symptoms such as the car loosing a bit of power, smoke out of the exhaust, and the car shaking when started in the morning and having to restart it. All of the symptoms were random and did not consistently happen so I really didn't think much about it. I have a call into Ford's Customer Care Team and they are checking into the matter further. I noticed there's a class action lawsuit filed in Delaware about the engine problem. The firms representing the plaintiffs are Berger Montague PC and Capstone Law APC. I'm thankful that this issue did not put me in arm's way or the safety of others were put at risk.
The car recently misfired 3 times. I took into get oil change and have the misfire checked into. The misfires started 11/4/21. Car would run rough and then stall out. It would sit for a minute or two and start and run fine. There were no check engine lights or gage to show the car was running hot. I never dreamed it was a cracked cylinder. The Dealer performed EEC test diagnosis and found previous misfies in cylinder 1 in mode 6 of PCM. Found coolant level low, pressure tested cooling system and found that cylinder 1 with coolant intrusion. Short block replacement. I see online that there have been recalls on 2013 -2014 Ford Fusion and other 2013-2015 vehicles for this exact problem of a lack of coolant circulation causing an engine to overheat resulting in a crack in the cylinder head. In these models dealers were installing a coolant level sensor with supporting hardware and software at not charge to customer. Ford dealer is charging me $5,000 for short block replacement, which I feel is a defect of the Ford Engine Design. I purchased by car in Nov. 2014 so it only makes sense that this engine had the 2014 design problem. I declined repairs at that moment, to investigate the problem and asked for my car. The dealer stated they had to put my car back together so it would be about 20 mins. When I got the car back it seems to be running normal like when I took it in, but down the road about 3 miles the car started to sputter and stalled. After sitting a few minutes with flasher on in traffic on a major road, the car would start up and wouldn't go over 15 mph and continued to stall. I called dealer and they gave me the number to the towing company they use. The car was towed back to dealership. The Ford dealer is charging me $5,000 for short block replacement. They did file a complaint with Ford Motor Co. Customer Relationship Center and they stated the dealer had opened a case by no programs in place for assistance. The dealer is telling the consumer this occurred due to a Ford design flaw. If this
The Car is making a sloshing sound in the engine, runs hot and will lose power due to overheating. This happen to me, forcing me to exit off the interstate (thank goodness I was near an exit). The check engine light also came on. Once the car cooled down (approx 45min) I was able to street drive home and have never been able to drive the car since. The code the car displayed once checked was P302/P1299. After looking online discovering a manufacturing defect from Ford causing coolant intrusion with this vehicles engine, I then got the vehicle towed to the dealership thinking the TSB (technical service bulletin) would cover the repairs needed (new engine long block) but it does not per Ford. The dealer gave me an invoice for the repair of over $8,500. The engine (1.5L, 2.0L) has several TSB's because for this issue from Ford but NO recalls to replace the engine. There are multiple years and models affected (2014-2019, Fusion, Edge, MKZ). I currently have a car that I can't drive and can't get any help from Ford to resolve the manufacturing defect. I hope you all can provide some help by encouraging Ford to recall the engines.
I was driving home from work at 10:30p. I pulled out of the parking lot at work when I lost power in the motor. Traffic was flowing and almost got T-bones. Right before I pulled it off the road it started to jerk like I was riding a bull. In the parking lot I shut it off and looked under the hood and checked everything but everything looked good. Started it back up and it started to run fine. So the next day it over heated took it to Ford and told them what was going on. They said someone bottom your car out so I turned it in to the insurance and they started a claim Ford fixed it. 2 days later it did It again over heated. Take it back in they fix it again pick it up again 2 days later over heats again. This is the third time it’s been in there and this time they say there is a TSB technical service bulletin-21-2269 that’s been out for over a year. At this point they tell me that no one has issued a recall on it. For the safety of others it should be recalled because if I had my kids in the call and got hit or killed over it someone would be paying.
2015 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L ecoboost While driving I have had loss of engine power posing risk in traffic. I refilled coolant and the misfire in cyl 1 inspired spark plug replacement. The problem recurs and I discover coolant in these engines has (secretly) known defect since 08 leaking into engine. At over 5 years though under 60K mi, Ford will not help / address the problem. Just did 3rd spark plug replacement and googled up the defect. Would love to get (long not short) engine replacement like other models have received with this. Would expect to get al least the reprogramming or other ideas for mitigation help from Ford.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the engine started to overheat as the check engine light illuminated the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that coolant had leaked into a cylinder, resulting in engine damage. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the engine. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

2015 Ford Fusion SE with 99k miles, well maintained and only two owners. Driving car down highway and engine begins to shudder. Pulled over as check engine lights were flashing and engine in critical condition. Had to tow car to nearest Ford delearship which is Maxwell Ford in South Austin, Texas. Ford mechanics determined it was MISS FIRE ON CYLINDER 2 VALVE BROKEN IN CYLINDER HEAD and need complete engine reassembly. Ford quoted $7,871.21 for a new engine block. Car not under warranty and they did not offer to pay. Also charged $238.07 to evac the AC. Reading about hundreds of complaints across carcomplaints (https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2015/engine/engine-2.shtml) as well as the current class action lawsuit that was filed in December 2020 (https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2015/engine/engine-2.shtml).
Overheated warning light flashed then went off when car was cooled down for 45 mins and then started right up and no warning light was ever seen again to come on then drove car 30 miles next morn car wouldn't start.checked engine coolant and it was all gone no visible leak.. no warning light Refilled coolant car tried to start and put out white smoke from tailpipe. Car started barely and was rough running again no warning light showing drove car to mechanic and he said car engine was blown .. so looked on different forums and found that the Ford fusion and Ford escape motors the 1.5 liter was a real lemon and the overheat light warning of low coolant or overheating of engine has had problems for several years on these 2 vehicles that had the 1.5 engine in them .. you can no longer buy the 1.5 because they were so terrible that they quit making them is what I'm being told .. I would like this engine to be recalled for all the problems it has given thousands of people
I have received a message on my dashboard regarding 1. Engine Coolant Over Temperature 2. Power Reduced to Lower Engine Temperature. I have taken the car to a repair shop Thursday and Friday. I believe car is a lemon. Have had the vehicle for only 17 days. I can’t keep calling off work due to non operational vehicle. I would like to get this issue resolved or otherwise I would not be able to pay my car note
Took car in to ford dealership to have check engine light assessed. Was told there was a coolant leakage through the #1 cylinder and I would need to have the motor replaced. I was quoted $7100.

My 2015 Ford Fusion is having an issue where the coolant is leaking into the cylinders. I had new spark plugs and coils replaced twice in less than a week because of this issue because they broke. It’s an issue I have read that a lot of Ford fusions have but no recall has been issued. To fix this problem, Ford gave me an estimate of over $8000 and it should be fixed by ford since it’s a revolving issue with certain models.

Car idles rough and almost stalls causing a safety issue. The problem is a bad block. Coolant leaks into the cylinders causing the car to lose power and smoke out the exhaust. The problem was diagnosed by a local auto repair shop. No check engine lights or warnings came on the dash.
I WALKED OUTSIDE ONE MORING TO START MY CAR AND THERE WAS A PROLONGED CRANKING TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER, RIGHT AWAY AFTER PUTTING IT IN DRIVE THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER, ALSO A HESITATION THAT WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE. CHECK ENIGNE LIGHT CAME ONE. HAD IT SCANNED SURE ENOUGH MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3 (P0303). WHITE SMOKE WXITING FROM EXHAUST AT START UP. VERY SLOW TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.

JUST GOT THIS FORD VEHICLE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND FOR SOME REASON MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND HAD NUMEROUS CODES P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0030, C0014, P0047, P0141, AND A FEW OTHERS. I LOOKED FOR LOOSE WIRES, CHECKED FUSES, PLUGS ETC. THE ONLY THING AT THIS POINT I NOTICED WAS TWO CRACKED SPARK PLUGS, SO I REPLACED ALL OFF THEM. AFTER THAT THE CAR STARTED SO I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. CLOSED THE HOOD TURNED THE CAR TO OFF, THEN TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT DID NOT START. SO I CHECKED ALL THE FLUIDS AND SEEN THE ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARED, I HAD PREVIOUSLY FILLED IT. I LOOKED FOR ANY VISIBLE LEAKS, PUDDLES, AND CHECKED FOR WET CARPET AND FOUND NOTHING. I WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER LARGE JUG OF ANTIFREEZE PUT IT IN AND WATCHED IT ALL DISAPPEAR BEFORE MY EYES. I COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT, BUT I GOT THE CAR STARTED AND STILL CONTINUED TO GET MASSIVE ERROR CODES, WHITE SMOKE, ROUGH SOUND, ETC. THEN SEARCHED MORE AND FOUND IT SOUNDS LIKE BLOWN HEAD GASKET, I CHECKED AND THE OIL HAD A MILKY TINT. THIS I THEN FOUND WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE, SO I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE FROM FORD ON MARCH 20, 2021 AND THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO CHECK IF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAD THE PARTS TO GET MY CAR IN OR IF THEY NEEDED TO ORDER THE PARTS. I WAS SUPPOSE TO GET A CALL BACK BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. I HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVING, I DID USE LEAK FIX IT SEEMED TO STOP THE LEAK AND CLEAR THE CODES BUT MY DASH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING SO I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE. THE RECALL NUMBER I FOUND WAS NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10174400, MY CAR IS A 2015 FORD FUSION ECOBOOST 1.5L, VIN NUMBER# [XXX], AND MY LOCAL FORD IS IN HEATH, OHIO 43056 AT MATHEWS FORD. I AM GETTING THE IMPRESSION THIS IS GOING TO BE AT MY COST AFTER CONTACTING FORD AGAIN, NOW TELLING ME THAT IT WILL NEED DIAGNOSED AT FORD, AND MAY BE AT MY COST. WHY DOESN'T THE RECALL LIST UNDER MY VIN? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

MY WARRANTY WITH THE VEHICLE WAS FOR 60,000 MILES, AT 62,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE CYLINDER BLOCK AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FORD DENIED MY REQUEST FOR ANY ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR.
WELL TO START OF I HAVE A 2015 FORD FUSION THAT I BOUGHT IN 2014 AS A 2015 MODEL YEAR PRETTY MUCH IT'S BEEN A GOOD CAR SO FAR. IT HAS BEEN IN A COUPLE OF RECALLS SO FAR NOT SO BIG, BUT AT SAME TIME THEY HAVE TO BE TAKING CARE OF BY MY DEALER WERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. MY CONCERN NOW IS THAT IS LOOSING COOLANT FROM THE RESERVOIR WHEN IS ON PARK OVERNIGHT. I ALWAYS HAVE TO PUT COOLANT EVERY MORNING TO GET IT GOING OTHERWISE A WARNING LIGHT COMES OFF TO WARN ME ABOUT THE COOLANT BEING LOW. IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEK NOW AND IS KINDA TIRING GOING TO THE SAME STEP EVERY MORNING. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE AND AFTER SEARCHING FOR AWHILE IT CAME UP THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. I READ AN ARTICLE STATING THAT SOME ECOBOOST ENGINES ARE EXPERIENCING LOSS OF ANTIFREEZE AND SOME OF EM EXPERIENCING DIFFERENT KIND OF PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ECOBOOST ENGINES. HONESTLY I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE SAME PROBLEM LIKE THEY ARE GOING. I'M WONDERING IF FORD IS GOING TO RECALL ALL THE ECOBOOST ENGINES THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT. MINE IS ALREADY GOING THROUGH THE SAME SYMPTOMS LIKE THE OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING. HOPEFULLY THE NHSTA STEPS UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT US BUYERS WITH A PROBLEMATIC VEHICLE THAT PEOPLE ARE HOPING TO KEEP IT FOR A LONGTIME TIME LIKE MY SELF. PRETTY MUCH MY WARRANTY EXPIRED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. HONESTLY I DON'T WANT TO PAY OUT OF POCKET IF MY VEHICLE STARTS TO MESSING UP AND TO BE HONEST I'M BEARLY SURVIVING OUT HERE AND WITH THIS PANDEMIC GOING ON IT'S VERY HARD TO COME UP WITH MONEY TO PAY YOUR BILLS AND NOW WITH THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE IT'LL BE HARDER IF IT MESSES UP ON ME. IT'LL BE HARD TO COME UP WITH $7 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE IN WHICH YOU RELY ON. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS THROUGH OUT THIS WEBSITE.

ABOUT 15-30 MINS HEADING HOME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CUT POWER TO THE ENGINE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LIFE OF THIS CAR. FIRST TIME FORD REPLACED THE ENGINE. THIS TIME THEY SAY THAT ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WANT ME TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. THE LIFE OF THIS NEW ENGINE IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 12000 MILES ON IT. COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. CAR IS AROUND 80,000 MILES AND HAS COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS. PREVIOUSLY I HAD SOME MISFIRE CODES COMING THROUGH AND HAD THE SPARK PLUGS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROUGH IDLE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT PERIODICALLY WOULD COME BACK ON. A FEW DAYS AGO THE CAR INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I REFILLED THE COOLANT TO THE CORRECT LEVEL AND CHECKED BACK THE NEXT DAY. THE COOLANT WAS BELOW THE MINIMUM LINE AGAIN SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS WHEN THEY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME ABOUT THE NEED FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT

WE HAVE NOW EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL DEFECT IN THE ENGINE IN THIS CAR TWO TIMES. COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING IT TO FAIL THE FIRST TIME AND NOW TRIGGERING CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS THAT THE DEALERSHIP STATES WILL REQUIRE THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED AGAIN MEANING IT WILL BE THE THIRD ENGINE IN A 5 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 55000 MILES. THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURRED IN APRIL 2019. THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A SUBURBAN PARKWAY CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC. IT NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE HAD BURNED OFF ALL THE COOLANT AND WHEN TESTED THE DEALERSHIP STATED COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE 41,000 MILES ON THE CAR SO THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. SINCE THEN WE HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR 14,000 MILES IN 18 MONTHS ON THE NEW ENGINE THAT WAS REPLACED. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WE TOOK IT TO A AUTO PARTS STORE TO DOWNLOAD THE CODE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT WAS P0300, AN ENGINE MISFIRE. WE TOOK TO A LOCAL SHOP TO CHECK IT OUT. HE DIAGNOSED THE SAME ISSUE. HE FOUND COOLANT IN CYLINDER 1 AND IT WAS 1/2 GALLON SHORT OF COOLANT. HE STATED THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AND ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I SHARED IT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED AND HE RECOMMENDED TAKING IT BACK TO DEALER THAT DID WORK. I DROVE IT TO DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THE SAME ISSUE WITH COOLANT IN THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS TIME, IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY SO WE WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW ENGINE FOR $5K. I HAVE REQUESTED FORD STAND BEHIND THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WITH 14,000 MILES ON IT ONLY TO BE TOLD NO, THE NEW ENGINE ISN'T COVERED. THE CAR HAS 55,500 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY.

IN AUG 2020 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2015 FORD FUSION AFTER IT STARTED ROUGH. I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THEY SAID THE SPARK PLUGS AND COILS SHOULD BE REPLACED (CHECK ENGINE CODE WAS P0303, CYLINDER MISFIRE). A MONTH LATER THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MGR SAID 'OH, THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FUSION ECOBOOST ENGINES. COOLANT LEAKS INTO THE CYLINDERS AND DAMAGES THEM. HE SAID THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE BLOCK HAS SCORE GROOVES BETWEEN THE CYLINDERS EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE LEAK AND CORROSION TO START. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME THAT THE LONG BLOCK AND HEAD GASKET WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE STARTING COST WOULD $5,000+. BUT LIKELY CLOSER TO $7000. FURTHER HE SAID FORD WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT NOT RECALLING OR COVERING THE REPLACEMENT COST. HE SAID HE HAD 8 OTHER VEHICLES ON THE LOT NEEDING THE SAME REPAIR AND EVEN IF THEY HAD THE PARTS IN STOCK, WHICH THEY DON'T AND IT WOULD TAKE SOME TIME TO GET THEM, IF WOULD BE 6 WEEKS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE THE ENTIRE ENGINE WHICH FORD HAS CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND REMOVED THE SCORED GROOVES. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY FUSION WITH THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND CARE DONE THERE. THIS ENGINE ISSUE WAS THERE AT THE TIME IT WAS MANUFACTURED AND WAS A TIME BOMB. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO INCUR THE EXPENSE OR FINANCIAL LOSS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. IF LEFT UNREPAIRED THE ENGINE WILL EVENTUALLY CEASE AND DEPENDING ON WHERE THAT OCCURS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ME AND SURROUNDING DRIVERS. I HAVE PARKED MY VEHICLE FOR NOW UNTIL THE SERVICE MANAGER LETS ME KNOW WHAT FORD WILL DO, IF ANYTHING. HE SAID THEY MIGHT GIVE ME SOME HELP BUT I WOULD HAVE TO COVER MOST OF THE EXPENSE!!! I

I HAVE A 2015 FORD FUSION SE ECOBOOST CURRENTLY AROUND 76000 MILES. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE SCAN HAD REPORTED A CYLINDER MISFIRE DUE FOR A SPARK PLUG CHANGE ALONG WITH A COIL CHANGE. MADE THE REPLACEMENTS DAY AFTER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CORRECTED. A WEEK AGO IT OVERHEATED, COOLANT HAD DISAPPEARED, EVEN AFTER REFILLING THE COOLANT AT MAX THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T REGISTER THE COOLANT. NO MOVEMENT, NOT DRIVABLE. GOT IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. WAITED FOR ALMOST A WEEK FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE CAR, COME TO FIND OUT MY CAR IS IN NEED OF A NEW ENGINE. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE COOLANT WAS BEING 'EATEN BY THE ENGINE' AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO FIND OUT WHERE IN THE ENGINE WAS THE LEAK. 'EXCESSIVE MOISTURE COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO COMBUST IF DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION'. 'THE ENGINE WAS ABSORBING THE MOISTURE'. WHAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IS HOW COULD THIS BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD FUSION ECOBOOST MODELS AND NOT BE A MANUFACTURER RECALL. IF CAR WAS KEPT UP WITH MAINTENANCE, AND NEVER BROUGHT UP WHEN GETTING SERVICED. THERE'S NO WEAR AND TEAR DAMAGE IT'S A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. A CAR ENGINE SHOULD NOT LAST 5 YEARS FROM BEING BRAND NEW TO BASICALLY TOTALED CAR.. FORD SHOULD PROVIDE A RECALL . THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. EVEN AFTER CONTACTING FORD THEY MENTIONED NO COVERAGE AFTER 5 YEAR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.

MY 2015 FORD FUSION OVERHEATED WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF TURNING IT ON AND DRIVING ONTO THE FREEWAY. THE COOLANT HAD COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING. EVEN AFTER REFILLING THE COOLANT, NO CHANGE IN THERMOSTAT AND STILL NOT DRIVABLE. UPON GETTING IT TOWED AND GETTING IT DELIVERED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. IT TOOK 6 DAYS FOR THE TEAM TO DIAGNOSE IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE ENGINE ITSELF WAS EATING AWAY THE COOLANT AND WAS CONTAINING WATER/MOISTURE PRESSURE WITHIN THE ENGINE. NOT DRIVABLE, AND IN NEED OF A NEW ENGINE.

CAR STARTED LEAKING COOLANT IN MAY, BUT NO VISIBLE SIGN OF LEAKING. CAR NEVER OVERHEATED AND KEPT COOLANT AT APPROPRIATE LEVEL. CAR WOULD OCCASIONALLY MISFIRE ON STARTUP AND WOULD HAVE CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE. ONE DAY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN AND LEFT HIGHWAY. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND NEEDED A NEW ENGINE.

UPON NUMEROUS ROUGH START UPS MY FORD FUSION WITH A 1.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I SCHEDULED DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE AT MY PREFERRED FORD DEALER AND THEY DISCOVERED MIS FIRINGS IN THE CYLINDERS. THEY INFORMED ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD 1.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TSBS ON THIS ISSUE WHICH REQUIRES A NEW ENGINE REBUILD. THERE ALREADY WAS A RECALL WITH THE 1.6L ECOBOOST ENGINE. I WAS JUST INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT FORD WILL NOT COVER ANY EXPENSES RELATED TO THE REPAIR. THE CAR IS A 2015 WITH 68K MILES WITH ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BY FORD. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND TURNS OUT THAT DUE TO A DEFECT WITH THE 1.5L ECOBOOST ENGINES, COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER 3 CAUSING IT TO MISFIRE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATING SO I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND KEPT MISFIRING AND MY COOLANT KEPT BECOMING LOW ONLY AFTER A FEW DAYS. UPON DIAGNOSIS I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT LEAK SHOOTING OUT TO CYLINDER 4 AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE SPARK PLUG THAT WAS CAUSED BY AN ENGINE DEFECT. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY CAME OUT AND LOOKED AT THE ISSUE AGREED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT THEY DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT FORD IS AWARE OF FOR THIS MODEL PER THE TSB BULLETIN FORD PUT OUT. FORD WON'T FIX THEIR ISSUE AND IM HERE GETTING THE SHORT END OF THE STICK. BOUGHT MY FORD FUSION1.5L USED FROM A PRIVATE DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2019 AT 88K MILES. FEW MONTHS LATER NOTICE SLIGHT DROP IN COOLANT RESERVOIR. BY MARCH 2020, ENGINE STARTED SHAKING ONE DAY WHICH FOLLOWED BY ILLUMINATED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, MISFIRING CODE FOR CYLINDER 2 AND 3 WERE PULLED USING OBD SCAN TOOL. SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED, AND PROBLEMS WENT AWAY UNTIL MAY 2020, NOTICED A FASTER RATE OF COOLANT LOSS, THEN ENGINE VIBRATES AND IDLING ROUGH. CODE FOR MISFIRING IN CYLINDER NUMBER 3. AFTER SOME RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET, SEEMS LIKE IT'S A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. CAR IS CURRENTLY SITTING TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGES TO THE ENGINE. PLEASE HELP!
TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP DUE TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. WAS TOLD THERE WAS COOLANT LEAKING INTO MY 4TH CYLINDER. ALSO INFORMED THERE WAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE. CONCERNED ABOUT A FIRE. PER THEIR 2014 FORD FUSION RECALL: "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, A LACK OF COOLANT CIRCULATION COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN A CRACK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD," FORD REPORTED. "A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD CAN RESULT IN A PRESSURIZED OIL LEAK. OIL THAT COMES INTO CONTACT WITH A HOT ENGINE SURFACE INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT." THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS MY VEHICLE, YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON MY YEAR OF VEHICLE AT THIS TIME.

ENGINE MISFIRE. #2 CYLINDER WAS FOUND TO HAVE COOLANT INSIDE. A NEW ENGINE LOG BLOCK IS NEEDED TO CORRECT THIS CONCERN. THIS ENGINE CLEARLY HAS A NUMBER OF ISSUES, REPORTED BY MANY OTHER OWNERS. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS ENGINE HAS ABOUT A 5 YEAR LIFE REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED IN ORDER FOR FORD TO PAY FOR THIS FAULTY ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME FOR MANY PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND IT'S ONLY RIGHT THAT FORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS ISSUE. *TR

I SENT THE FOLLOWING LETTER TO OTHER AGENCIES AS WELL BUT WANTED TO SEND IT TO YOU. SINCE I SENT THE LETTER I HAVE FOUND THAT MY PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO A BUNCH OF OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS WHERE THE GASKET GOES BAD AND FLUIDS LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER AND RUINS THE ENGINE. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE'S A FLAW IN MY ENGINE MODEL. I HAVE AN ECOBOOST ENGINE AND FROM WHAT I WAS READING ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THERE'S BEEN A BUNCH OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR CAR. I'M GOING TO COPY AND PASTE THE LETTER I SENT TO YOU EARLIER TODAY. ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. I HAVE A 2015 FORD FUSION THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM GOLD MILL FORD IN NILES, IL AND HAVE ALL OF MY MAINTENANCE DONE AT THE DEALER. THE CAR ONLY HAS 33 THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM THE DEALER IN APRIL OF 2015. THE WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED ON APRIL 13, 2020 AND ON MAY 19, 2020 THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. I HAD JUST BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALER ON MAY 4TH 2020. I LOST MY JOB AND WITH ALL THE COVID 19 STUFF GOING ON I NEVER GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I PUT MY INSURANCE ON THE CAR ON HOLD MAY 26, 2020 CAUSE I WASN'T GOING TO BE DRIVING IT WITH THE COVID 19 STUFF. I'M NOT SURE IF THEY FORGOT TO PUT A CAP ON SOMETHING AT THE MAY 4TH OIL CHANGE OR SOMETHING BUT ALL I KNOW IS THE CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECT BEFORE I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE OIL CHANGE AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT THEY SAY NEEDS OVER $5030 AND TAX WORTH OF REPAIRS. I TRIED TO GET HELP FROM THE FORD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BUT THEY DENIED ME ANY HELP. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD HELP ME OUT CAUSE I DON'T HAVE $5,030 PLUS TAX TO FIX THE ENGINE. WHAT WOULD BE MY OPTIONS TO GETTING HELP? I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME FIGURE OUT THIS MESS AND GET SOME HELP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME IN READING MY STORY. MY 2015 FUSION HAD INTERMITTENT ROUGH IDLES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON. I CHECKED OUT THE CODE AND IT WAS P0301 - MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 1. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ' PENSKE FORD IN LA MESA, CA - FOR INSPECTION. THE SERVICE ADVISOR HAD HIS TEAM PRESSURE TEST AND BOROSCOPE THE ENGINE AND FOUND COOLANT RESIDUE IN CYLINDER 1. HE SAID THAT THEY CHECKED FOR THE FIX TO THE ISSUE AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT (I FOUND IT ON NHTSA WEBSITE ' BULLETIN 20-2100), WHICH DIRECTED THEM TO REPLACE THE SHORT-BLOCK - $7,000 ISH DOLLARS TO FIX. WITH JUST A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM MANY FORD OWNERS ARE HAVING RIGHT NOW WITH THIS ENGINE - 1.5L I4 F DOHC 16V. THERE IS EVEN AN EXPLORATORY CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT BEING FORMULATED AROUND THIS ENGINE ISSUE (HTTPS://WWW.NEWSOM.LAW/FORD-FUSION-OVERHEATING-LAWSUIT.HTML), SO IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT PITTING ON THE SHORT BLOCK IS THE LIKELY CAUSE AND THAT IS WHY FORD HAS SAID TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THE SHORT BLOCK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, LIVING IN A MILD CLIMATE, AND THE BLOCK IS PITTING. I CONTACTED FORD THROUGH THEIR ONLINE CHAT AND THROUGH THE PHONE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME SHORT OF SAYING THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ISSUED FOR THIS OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT, SO THERE IS NO ISSUE ON THEIR PART. THEY SAID NHTSA HAS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING OUT OF THEIR POCKET. ATTACHED DOCUMENTS INCLUDE: TRANSCRIPT FROM ONLINE CHAT TO FORD LINKS TO MY RESEARCH INCLUDING EXAMPLE OF CASES ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SAME CAR LETTER I AM SENDING TO FORD INVOICE FROM FORD DEALER WHERE ISSUE IS NOTED AND SB 20-2100 IS NOTED THE FORD SERVICE BULLETIN REFERENCED - 20-2100 *TR

IN DECEMBER OF 2019 FORD CAME OUT WITH BULLETIN TSB 19-2375 STATING THE BLOCK NEEDS REPLACED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THAT IS AN OVER $6,000.00 REPAIR. I CALL THAT A DEFECTIVE BLOCK WHICH SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL, FORD SIMPLY TOLD ME IT'S CALLED OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT'S MY PROBLEM. MY PROBLEM IS, IT'S MY ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. SO WHAT IT IS DOING IS WHEN I START IT, IT RUNS ROUGH BECAUSE IT IS MISFIRING DO TO COOLANT LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER AND WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF EXHAUST. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT FORD KNOWS THIS IS A DEFECTIVE BLOCK OTHERWISE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ISSUED THE BULLETIN. AN INTERNET SEARCH WILL SHOW MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2014 THROUGH 2019 PRODUCED 1.5 LITER MOTORS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I TRIED TO UPLOAD THE REPAIR BILL AND THE TSB BULLETIN BUT IT STATED FILE TOO BIG.

I DROVE IT 1/2 MILE TO THE NEAREST STORE AND CALLED MY FRIEND TO BRING HIS CAR CODE READER. IT WAS SHOWING A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. WENT AND GOT A SPARK PLUG AND NEW COIL PACK AND PUT ON IT. THE CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND WAS STILL SHOWING A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP IN PRATTVILLE, AL. TO SEE WHY IT WAS STILL SHOWING A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE HEAD AROUND CYLINDER 2. I CALLED RIVERSIDE CHEVROLET IN WETUMPKA, AL BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE CALLED COLLIER FORD IN WETUMPKA, AL BECAUSE OF THE LOW MILES ON IT TO SEE IF THEY COULD LOOK AT IT FOR ME AND POSSIBLE HELP ME OUT WITH THE COST. I HAD IT TOWED TO COLLIER FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BLOCK IS CRACKED AND THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER AT COLLIER FORD AND THE GENERAL MANAGER AT RIVERSIDE CHEVROLET WAS IN CONTACT WITH FORD TO SEE IF THEY CAN GET THIS RESOLVED FOR ME. AS OF TODAY 3/25/20 I STILL DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER AS TO IF FORD IS GOING TO REPLACE MY MOTOR. I NOTICED AFTER DOING RESEARCH THAT THIS IS AN COMMON PROBLEM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HASN'T BECOME A RECALL YET. FORD NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT.

AFTER INVESTIGATING I FOUND THAT THIS WAS TIMING DRIVEN AND AGAIN ONLY FORD COULD DO THIS REPAIR. I TOOK THE CAR IN THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THEY QUOTED ME 672.00 FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD TAKE 4.5 HOURS TO COMPLETE. AT 5PM THE FOLLOWING DAY I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY HAD JUST FINISHED IT. I WAS TOLD THEN THAT IT TOOK LONGER BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP WAS DISCONTINUED BECAUSE FORD KNEW THE PART WAS BAD. THEY CONTINUED TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAD TO RESEARCH HOW TO CUT THE WIRES THAT WERE NO LONGER NEEDED AND INSTALL THE NEW WATER PUMP. V

ON 10/7/2019 I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO FORT MILL FORD (SC) FOR A TIRE CHANGE AND REGULAR SERVICE. WHEN I CAME TO PICK IT UP ON 10/10/2019, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. UPON ADVISING MY TECH BRITTANY OF THE ISSUE, THEY SENT OUT A TECH TO JUMP START THE CAR THAT WAS JUST SERVICED. WHEN THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED, AN ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS AT 62000 MILES. I WENT BACK TO MY ADVISER BRITTANY AGAIN AND SHE STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND THAT FORD ACTIVATES THOSE WHEN SEASONS CHANGE AND IS PART OF THEIR SOFTWARE. SHE INSISTED THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK WITH THE CAR AND REFERENCED THE INSPECTION LIST I WAS GIVEN FOR MY 2015 FORD FUSION SE. NOT THREE WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT FROM BEING CONSTANTLY ON, TO FLASHING. THIS ALSO CAUSED AN INTENSE WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST AND A STRONG GAS PRESENCE IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING ON I-77 HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO FORT MILL FORD ON 11/18/2019 FOR INSPECTION. THE NEXT DAY, BRITTANY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY FOUND AN ISSUE WITH MY SPARK-PLUG AND THAT IT MIGHT COST ANYWHERE FROM $200 TO $6000.00 TO REPAIR IT. SINCE THE ISSUE WAS NOT CAUSED BY ME I WAS NOT GOING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CHARGES AND AFTER WEEKS OF IGNORING ME, FORD MOTOR COMPANY (OFFICE OF ELENA FORD) DECIDED TO GET INVOLVED. HOWEVER, THE CAUSE WENT FROM SPARK-PLUGS TO COOLANTS THEN CYLINDERS AND I WAS NEVER GIVEN A SPECIFIC CAUSE. I DID NOT HAVE MY CAR FOR OVER 60 DAYS BECAUSE ALL PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. I GOT MY CAR BACK ON 1/21/2020 AND IT IS STILL SHOWING ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. OUT OF 91 NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON ENGINE ISSUES, OVER 31 HAVE THESE SAME SYMPTOMS. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS DETAILING THIS ISSUE. THIS FORM DOES NOT OFFER ENOUGH SPACE FOR RELEVANT INFORMATION AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO UPLOAD THE LAST EMAIL THREAD. *DT*JB

I HAD A COOLANT LEAK INTO CYLINDER 4 IN MY ENGINE AT APPROX 69,000 MILES AND WAS ADVISED I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BLOCK... THEIR WERE 3 OTHER CARS AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST APPROX 7500... AFTER COMPLAINING TO SERVICE DEPT THEY OPENED A CASE WITH FORD AND THEY AGREED TO DO IT FOR APPROX 2500 AS IT WAS JUST OUT OF 60,000 WARRANTY AND JUST OVER 3 YEARS OLD. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID FORD HAD A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HEAD GASKET APPARENTLY MOVING AND WEARING OUT WHICH CAUSED THE ISSUE. APPROX 8 MONTHS LATER EXACT SAME ISSUE AND I NEEDED ANOTHER ENGINE CHANGE. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAD 7 CARS IN SHOP WITH SAME ISSUE WAITING ON ENGINE CHANGES.AGAIN WAS TOLD FORD HAS ISSUES W HEAD GASKET MOVING AND WEARING OUT GASKET ALLOWING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO CYLINDER. SUPPOSEDLY FORD HAS UPGRADED THEIR GASKETS AND OTHER PARTS TO CORRECT ISSUE BUT I DONT BELIEVE THE CUSTOMERS SHOULD BEAR RESPONSIBILITY WHEN FORD HAS KNOWN ISSUE THAT COSTS CUSTOMERS SUCH A BIG AMOUNT. I KNOW IT WAS JUST PAST ORIG WARRANTY BUT THIS IS A FORD ENGINEERING PROBLEM THAT CUSTOMERS AND BEARING BRUNT OF COSTS. THE SECOND ENGINE CHANGE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT IM CONCERNED ABOUT IT HAPPENING AGAIN OR THE LOSS OF VALUE FROM 2 ENGINE CHANGES IN LESS THAN 80K MILES. THE DATE ENTERED BELOW IS AN ESTIMATE. ENGINE WAS CHANGED TWICE IN 2019 AND LESS THAN 10K MILES IN BETWEEN.

ON JUNE 9TH 2019 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MY 2015 FUSION WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 10TH FOR A OIL CHANGE AND NOTIFIED THEM THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEY PERFORMED THE 'WORKS' SERVICE AND TOLD ME THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. THE LIGHT WAS ON WHEN I PULLED IN THE PARKING LOT SO IT IS MY BELIEF THEY CLEARED THE CODE WITHOUT PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. JUNE 29 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. JUNE 30 I STOP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE THAT DOES A FREE DIAGNOSTIC. THE RESULTS WERE MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 2. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP JULY 1ST AND PRESENTED THEM WITH THE INFORMATION FROM THE AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY CONFIRMED THE MISFIRE AND REPLACED THE COIL PACK AND THE SPARK PLUG. ON JULY 3 AFTER DRIVING 100+ HIGHWAY MILES I PARKED THE CAR AND SEVERAL HOURS LATER WHEN I RETURNED THE CAR STALLED WHEN I STARTED IT. IT TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE CAR STARTED. THE ENGINE WAS SPUTTERING AND THE LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY. JULY 12TH, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. I PARKED THE CAR AT MY HOME. JULY 15TH STARTED THE CAR I COULD HEAR THE SOUND OF WATER RUSHING THROUGH THE DASH. I DROVE THE CAR 3 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAILPIPE. I LEFT IT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. THE FOLLOWING WEEK THE DEALERSHIP CALLS TO TELL ME THE CAR NEEDS EXTENSIVE ENGINE REPAIRS HEADS, GASKETS, ETC. AUGUST COMES AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS MY CAR. A FEW WEEKS LATER I'M TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THERE IS NO EXPECTED ARRIVAL DATE. OCT 30 ALL PARTS ARE IN AND THE REPAIRS START. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AND THE ENGINE FAILED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M TOLD ON NOV 7 THEY ARE ORDERING A NEW ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS INSTALLED AND REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE ON NOV 15TH, MORE THAN 4 MONTHS LATER! THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!

DEALER PRESSURIZED THE CYLINDER TO CHECK FOR LEAKS, FOUND A CRACK IN THE CYLINDER WALL. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR A SECOND OPTION, THEY DID THE SAME CHECK AND FOUND THE SAME CRACK.VEHICLE ONLY HAS 87K ON IT. BOTH SHOPS ARE TELLING ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE. ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKE FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE. AS I PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING THE IDLE. AS I PULLED OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD I NOTICED MORE PUSHBACK AS I ACCELERATED THE IDOL AND MY ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY VEHICLE AROUND AND RETURNED HOME IN FEAR OF GETTING INTO A CAR ACCIDENT. I PROCEEDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS QUOTED A STARTING $1,700 REPAIR FOR A HEAD GASKET REPAIR. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I WAS SHOCKED HOW COMMON THIS REPAIR IS AND WAS IN DISBELIEF THIS PART IS NOT RECALLED AFTER I SEARCHED NHTSA.GOV. AS A CONSUMER, I'D LIKE TO REPORT THE HEAD GASKET IN THE 2015 FORD FUSION 2.5L TO THE NHTSA FOR REVIEW AND RE-CALL CONSIDERATION.

2015 FORD FUSION SE WITH 66,997 MILES ON IT STARTED TO RUN ROUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL CAR PARTS STORE FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSIS THEY SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND 6000 DOLLARS LATER I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE BLOCK. THE CODES GAVE NO CLUE TO WHAT WAS WRONG AND CAR NEVER OVERHEATED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A 4 AND 1/2 YEAR OLD CAR THAT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AND REMBURSE ME.

BROUGHT CAR IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND BATTERY NOT CHARGING. REPLACED BATTERY, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. AGAIN, WENT TO GET GET DIAGNOSTIC, RESULTED IN NEEDING CATALYTIC CONVERTER. PICKED UP CAR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. RETURNED TO SERVICE NEXT DAY. DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND HEAD GASKET NEEDING REPLACING. THE RESULT IS NEEDING A NEW MOTOR. THIS ISSUE SEEMS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000. MY ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THIS RECALL ON THE 2013 AND 2014 FUSIONS. FORD IS PROVIDED $3,000 FOR THE REPAIR DUE TO ME BEING OVER 600 MILES OVER POWER TRAIN. MY CONCERN IS THE RECALL TO THE 13 AND 14 FUSION COULD BE BROADER THAN THOSE YEARS.

ENGINE TEMPERATURE GUAGE MOMENTARILY SPIKED WHILE DRIVING. NO SMOKE OR UNUSUAL NOISE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK NEAR EMPTY. COOLANT REFILLED AN DRIVEN HOME. THIS HAPPENED ON 9/28/2019. TOOK TO NTB NEXT DAY ON 9/29/2019 TO HAVE PRESSURE TEST ON COOLANT SYSTEM. CAR SAT TILL MONDAY 10/30. NTB MISDIAGNOSED ISSUES STATING OVERFLOW RESERVOIR HAD SLOW LEAK. ON 10/1 NTB IDENTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A BLOWN GASKET SOMEWHERE ON THE CARS ENGINE THAT CAUSED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO ENGINE. 3 OF 4 SPARK PLUGS SATURATED WITH ENGINE COOLANT AND CAR WOULD NOT START. ON 10/1 CAR IMMEDIATELY TOWED TO NEAREST FORD MOTOR SERVICE CENTER. ENGINE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ENGINE INNER COOLER ASSEMBLY AND INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY HAD BLOWN AND COOLANT ENTERED THE ENGINE. THIS RESULTED IN NEARLY $1,400 WORTH OF INITIAL REPAIRS AND POSES A SAFETY HAZARD. FORD ENGINE TECHNICIAN STATED HE HAS SEEN A SIMILAR ISSUES ON QUITE A FEW OF THESE CARS. UPON INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND THAT IN 2017 THE 2013-2014 FORD FUSION HAD A RECALL FOR RELATED ISSUES THAT CAUSED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE AND MAY POSSIBLY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO START ON FIRE. CURRENTLY MANY CUSTOMER REPORTS ON THE 2015 FUSION AS WELL BUT NO ACTION ON FORD MOTORS BEHALF.

STARTED CAR, GOT DASHBOARD LIGHT ON 7.6.19 MILEAGE 27721. CAR RUNNING ROUGH, ABOUT TO STALL,ETC. ERROR CODE P0302. CYL.#2 IGNITION COIL REPLACED. THEN, 2 WEEKS LATER GOT DASHBOARD LIGHT AGAIN, SAME CODE P0302. MECHANIC (PRIVATE)REPLACED PERCEIVED FAULTY IGNITION COIL AS PREVIOUS. ON 9.23 .19 CAR STARTED,. CAR RUNS ROUGH, ALMOST STALLS DASHBOARD LIGHTS AGAIN. THIS TIME WE TAKE IT TO ROYAL OAK FORD SERVICE DEPT. THEY GET P0302 AND ADVISE US TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS. $307.29 CHARGE. UPON INSPECTION OF SPARK PLUGS I NOTE ALL PLUGS ARE HEAVILY COATED IN CARBON. I CHECK THE TAILPIPE AND THE INSIDE IS ALSO HEAVILY CARBON COATED. SHORTLY AFTER I FIND INFORMATION THAT MOST DIRECT INJECT ENGINES HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT WAS NOT HARD INFO TO FIND. BECAUSE OF DIRECT INJECTION THE VALVES DO NOT RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF DETERGENT GASOLINES AND BECOME HEAVILY COATED IN CARBON. THIS IS AN OVERSIMPLIFIED EXPLANATION OF WHAT IS OCCURRING., BUT MAKES THE POINT. I CONFIRM FINDINGS WITH AND SHOW PLUGS TO, MY MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMS ;THAT THESE DIRECT INJECT ENGINES HAVE AN ISSUE THE MANUFACTURERS CAN'T OR HAVEN'T CORRECTED, WHICH RESULTS IN THE CONDITION MY SPARK PLUGS WERE FOUND IN. I FOUND NOTSB'S ON THE SUBJECT. MECHANIC RECOMMENDS A GDI SERVICE, WHICH INCLUDES PULLING ALL VALVES AND CLEANING THEM. HE ALSO RECOMMENDS ANYONE WITH A DI ENGINE TO DO THIS AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR TO KEEP VEHICLE RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND TO GET MAXIMUM LIFE OUT OF THE PLUGS. BY THE WAY, FIRST SERVICE INTERVAL FOR PLUGS ON THIS CAR IS 100,000 MILES. THIS IS THE EXPERIENCE I'VE BEEN EXPOSED TO SO FAR, BUT DO KNOW THAT IT CAN GET MUCH WORSE (AFFECTING OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE) FWIW THE MECHANIC BELIEVES THE MANUFACTURERS (IN THIS CASE FORD) ARE WELL AWARE OF THESE ISSUES WITH DIRECT INJECT DESIGNED ENGINES. PIC OF PLUGS INCL. BELOW.

ENGINE SHOWED HOT AND WENT INTO SHUTDOWN MODE WITHIN A MILE, TOOK TO FORD THE NEXT DAY THEY RESET COMPUTER AND ADDED A LITTLE FLUID. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE COOLANT LEVEL ON MY TRIP TOTAL TO BE AROUND 1200 MILES. CAR NEEDED COOLANT ADDED ALONG THE WAY BUT DID OKAY ON THE HIGHWAY. ON MY WAY BACK ABOUT 150 MILES INTO MY TRIP THE ENGINE TEMP WENT UP FOR A SEC THEN BACK DOWN SO I PULLED OVER WITHIN A MILE BY THIS TIME YOU COULD SMELL SOMETHING WAS WRONG. MY CAR HAS 64000 MILES. CAR WAS OVERHEATING AND ROUGH IDLE SO WE BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE CODE 0302 IS A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER #2. THEY ALSO SAID THERE IS A HOLE IS THE BLOCK BETWEEN CYLINDERS NOW. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN WITH 64K MILES AND COOLANT LEVEL WAS CORRECT. THEY MENTIONED THE SLEEVE AROUND CYLINDER 2 IS TOO THIN CAUSING THE ISSUE. THEY ALSO MENTIONED FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED AND FORD'S REPLACEMENT ENGINE HAS A THICKER SLEEVE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER ALSO SAID THEY HAVE 4 OTHER FUSIONS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. NOW TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IS OVER $6000 AND AGAIN THERE IS SIMPLY NO WAY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN WITH A CAR WITH 64K MILES. VERY FRUSTRATED AND LOOKING FOR COMPENSATION.

WE HAVE A 2015 FORD FUSION SE. WE WERE THE 2ND OWNER AND PURCHASED FROM A DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT STARTED SOUNDING LIKE FLUID IN THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING. THEN IT STARTED BLOWING OUT TONS OF WHITE SMOKE OUT THE TAIL PIPE, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED OVER, PARKED CAR. LET SIT AND COOL DOWN. THERE WAS OIL, TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND COOLANT IN THE CAR. WE HAVE DONE ALL OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE REGULARLY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THEY CAME BACK STATING IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THAT BASICALLY THE CAR SUCKED IN COOLANT THROUGH THE ENGINE AND WAS BURNING (REASON FOR WHITE SMOKE). IT RUINED THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY WAS OVER AT 60K MILES........WE HAVE 65K AND FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A DEFECT THAT ON THEIR END. ALSO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED AT 46K MILES. HOW CAN FORD STATE THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE? WE PAID $16K FOR A CAR WE HAVE HAD BARELY OVER A YEAR AND NOW A PILE OF SCRAP METAL.

I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD ANOTHER CAR - EXACT SAME AS MINE - WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE CAR WASN'T STARTING AND WAS RUNNING ROUGHLY, WITH LIQUID SWOOSHING AROUND IN THE CAR.

AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO START, PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR HELPS BUT THE ENGINE WILL STALL SUDDENLY WITHIN A FEW MILES OF THE FILL UP. ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE LOST POWER WHEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR STREET WITH 1/4-1/2 TANK OF FUEL. THIS STALL IS PRECEEDED BY A LOUD, DISONATE NOISE FROM THE FUEL FILLER. THERE IS WWW INFORMATION REGARDING FAILED PURGE VALVES, BUT MOST INFORMATION IS FOR EARLIER MODELS. THE FOCUS RECALL SEEMS IDENTICAL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAUTION TO STAY OFF THE ROAD AFTER FUELING TILL THE ENGINE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. CODES CHECKED WITH ONLY ONE READING COMING UP -A YEAR AGO.
Mileage: 99,000
SECONDS AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, IT OCCASIONALLY SPUTTERS TO A STOP WHEN I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONCE OR TWICE, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. EVENTUALLY, ON THE THIRD OR FORTH ATTEMPT, THE ENGINE RUNS FINE WITHOUT TROUBLE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT ONCE EVERY FOUR TO SIX WEEKS. OTHER OWNERS REPORT THE ENGINE DYING WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM PARKED, RIGHT AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, OR WHEN I BEGIN TO ACCELERATE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM, SO FAR.
Mileage: 70,000
ENGINE SPUTTERS, LOSES POWERS, AND STALLS. THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER THE CAR SITS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AROUND 20-60 MINUTES AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN AND THEN IS ONCE AGAIN STARTED AND DRIVEN AGAIN. AFTER BEING PLACED IN GEAR AND DRIVEN A VERY SHORT DISTANCE (5-10 SECOND LOW SPEED TIME WISE) THE ENGINE WILL BEGIN TO EXHIBIT THE STALLING SYMPTOMS OF LOW RPM AND HESITATION AND ALL ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS WILL BEGIN TO MALFUNCTIONS, I.E. HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER, BRAKES WILL LOSE POWER, ACCELERATOR WILL NO LONGER FUNCTION EVEN IF DEPRESSED 100% AS CAR IS DRIVE BY WIRE. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE LOSING POWER AND NOT HAVING ALL CONTROL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONING AT 100% (THROTTLE, BRAKING, STEERING) ON ROADWAYS AND IN PARKING LOTS PLACES THE DRIVER, OTHER DRIVERS, AND ESPECIALLY PEDESTRIANS AT RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH AS THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY LOSES POWER AND OTHERS ARE NOT EXPECTING THE VEHICLE TO ACT IN SUCH A MANNER AND MAY NOT REACT ACCORDINGLY. A PEDESTRIAN MAY NOT REACT PROPERLY TO A CAR THAT LACKS ITS NORMAL STOPPING POWER, ANOTHER VEHICLE MAY NOT STOP FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT ACCELERATING AS IT WAS AND IS EXPECTED, ETC. I WAS APPROACHED RANDOMLY AT A GAS STATION BY ANOTHER OWNER OF A SIMILAR FORD FUSION DESCRIBING THE SAME SYMPTOMS ASKING IF MY CAR DID THIS AND EXPLAINED TO HER THAT BASED ON MY RESEARCH SHE'S NOT ALONE AND MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCE THIS SAME PROBLEM. MANY DEALERS APPEAR TO BE ABLE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE/RESOLVE THE ISSUE, AND MY 2 ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT A DEALER TO OBTAIN SERVICE FOR THE PROBLEM HAVE RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP NOT RESPONDING TO THE ONLINE SERVICE REQUEST FORM. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 4 STALLING EVENTS NOW AND AM UNABLE TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICES AS DEALERSHIPS HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY MAINTENANCE REQUESTS. I HAVE FOOTAGE SAVED OF THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING AND VEHICLE STALLING IN A PARKING LOT AT LOW SPEED.

FILLED UP CAR W/ GAS, CAR SPUTTERED LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. CAR SHUT OFF BUT POWER STAYED ON. TRIED TO START CAR AGAIN, & IT SPUTTERED AGAIN. I THEN PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR TO GIVE GAS, AND CAR SPUTTERED AS I LET OFF, THEN DIED, BUT STILL HAD POWER. STARTED CAR FOR 3RD TIME, AND IT CONTINUED TO SPUTTER, I PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR, AND PUT IN DRIVE, AND AS I DROVE ABOUT 20 METERS, THE CAR SEEMED TO STILL SPUTTER. ONCE I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, AND GET UP TO 30 TO 40 MPH, THE CAR RAN FINE. CAR STARTED FINE THE NEXT FEW HOURS, BUT THEN IN THE EVENING IT DID IT AGAIN. I HAD TO PUT HAZARDS ON DUE TO BEING ON A MAIN ROAD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACELLERATE AND STARTED SPUTTERING AGAIN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO HAS CAME ON DURING THIS PROCESS. I HAVE TAKEN INTO AUTO SHOP AND IT READS THAT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDS REPLACED: CODE P0087 FUEL RAIL/SYSTEM PRESSURE - TOO LOW P2196 02 SENSOR SIGNAL STUCK RICH BANK 1 SENSOR 1 P1450 UNABLE TO BLEED UP FUEL TANK VACUUM. WITH THE VEHICLE BEING WELL MAINTAINED AND BEING LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CONSIDERATION DUE TO BEING VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO NOT KNOWING WHEN THE SPUTTERING OF THE CAR WILL HAPPEN.

VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY IDLES ROUGH AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. RESTARTS FINE, SOMETIMES NOT DOING IT AGAIN FOR DAYS AND SOMETIMES DOING THE SAME THING MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE SAME TRIP. AFTER DRIVING SOME DISTANCE (20-30 MINUTES, 15-20 MILES) AND STOPPING FOR A SHORT BREAK (5-10 MINUTES) TO GROCERY SHOP, GET TAKE-OUT, ETC. STARTING THE CAR UP AGAIN AND GOING - IT STALLS. POWER STAYS ON, BUT ENGINE FLUCTUATES RPM IN A LUNGING FASHION BEFORE PUTTERING OUT. CAR CAN RESTART WITH STRAIN ON THE STARTER BUT WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN EVEN IF LEFT IDLING IN PARK AFTER 1-2 MINUTES. REMEDY I HAVE FOUND IS TO CRANK IT, LET THE ENGINE SETTLE FOR 5 SECONDS, PUT IN GEAR, LET SETTLE AGAIN, THEN GAIN RPMS FAIRLY QUICKLY WITH A HEAVY ACCELERATION. ONCE IT SHIFTS GEARS THE FIRST TIME IT SEEMS TO BEHAVE.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED, IT WAS STILL UNDER 30 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY WHEN CAR WAS SPUTTERING BADLY AT STANDING IDLE, DRIVING OR IN PARK AND EVEN LOST POWER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2 AND CHANGED PLUGS AND COIL, HAD TO USE DEALER PARTS BECAUSE CAR REFUSED AFTER MARKET THAT SHOP WAS USING PER WARRANTY COMPANY. TOOK CAR HOME AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS CAR DID SAME THING SPUTTERING EVERY MORNING AND LOSS OF POWER TOOK IT BACK TO SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG SAID DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS THAT IT HAD LOST POWER BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING THEY COULD FIX. TOOK IT HOME ANOTHER FEW WEEKS/MONTH WENT BY AND SPUTTERING WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO SHOP AGAIN MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2, MECHANICS CHANGED PLUGS AGAIN. "TAKATA RECALL" IN ADDITION TO THIS RECALL, I HAVE 2 OUTSTANDING RECALLS WITH A REFUSAL TO WORK ON A MISFIRE AND ENGINE ISSUES. MY CAR HAS SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING ON THE ROAD, MISFIRING WITH NO WARNING, AND NO INFORMATION ON THESE COMMON ENGINE FAILURES WAS GIVEN TO ME. NO PROOF HAS BEEN GIVEN OF ISSUES AND AM BEING FORCED INTO PURCHASING A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE BEEN REFUSED ALL HELP AND HAVE BEEN WAITING ABOUT A MONTH FOR ANSWERS.

AWHILE BACK THE CAR STARTED MAKING STRANGE NOISES, THAT CAME FROM THE FUEL INLET BEHIND THE GAS DOOR, SOUNDING LIKE PRESSURE ESCAPING. PRESSING THE DOOR IN (CAPLESS FUEL TANK) CONFIRMS THIS, AS THE VACUUM IS RELEASED. CAR IDLES ROUGH, AND IN SOME CASES, AFTER REFUELING, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY STALL. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO QUITE A FEW FUSION OWNERS, WITH VIDEOS AND FORUMS POSTS TO VERIFY. FORD CLAIMS TO NOT KNOW OF THE ISSUE, BUT JUST TODAY ISSUED A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM FOR THE FOCUS MODEL CARS. IT IS THE 2.0L TURBO OR NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINES, AND I HAVE THE 2.0L TURBO. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTS OF CARS STALLING WHILE IN MOTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY, WITH A P1450 CODE.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID LOW COOLANT THAT CAME ON AND WENT OFF WITHIN 5-10SECOND , SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT. THEY STATED EVERYTHING WAS OK AND WORK FIND. A WEEK LATER, II WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND A MESSAGE CAME UP AND STAYED ON THAT SAYS LOW COOLANT. I PULL TO THE STORE TO CHECK MY COOLANT LEVEL WHICH WAS A LITTLE UNDER MAXIMUM LINE. I STARTED THE CAR BUT COULDN'T NOT GET IT TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND THIS TIME BUT BEING TOWED THIS TIME AND THE COMPANY SAID IT WAS AN INTERNAL LEAK INSIDE THE MOTOR DAMAGING MY CORD AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. SO NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THESE CORD.

RECALL # 18S20: HELLO THERE MY SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING WHICH HAS BEEN NAMED IN A RECALL FAILED LAST THURSDAY. I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND THE CAR GOT STUCK IN PARK, HOWEVER THE CAR WAS ROLLING AND THE DISPLAY SAID THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. I PUT THE BRAKE ON AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE BEFORE TURNING THE CAR OFF. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND SURE ENOUGH THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS VISIBLE AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I GOOGLED A PICTURE OF THE PART JUST TO CONFIRM AND WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE WHITE PIECES AND CORROSION THAT WERE LEFT BEHIND WERE REMNANTS OF THE CABLE BUSHING WHICH LOOKS LIKE A WHITE BEAD. THE RECALL NUMBER IS 18S20 AND THE NOTICE INSTRUCTS ME TO GO TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS REPLACED. I CONTACTED TWO LOCAL FORD DEALERS AS INSTRUCTED AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART. THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN ITS AVAILABLE AND THE HAVE NO ETA ON PART AVAILABILITY, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE WHILE I AM WAITING. I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN AND I HAVE TO WORK AND CANNOT AFFORD A RENTAL AND THERE ARE NO LOANER CARS BEING OFFERED. I HAVE TWO JOBS AND I HAD TO RESIGN FROM ONE JOB DUE TO THE INCONVENIENCE AS THE HOURS ARE LATE AND THERE ISN'T ANY TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE AFTER A CERTAIN TIME.

WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THE ENGINE MISFIRES DECREASE IN POWER AND COMPLETELY STOPS ACCELERATION. IT ALSO USES A GREAT DEAL OF FUEL. THE COOLANT CONSTANTLY LEAKS OUT AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS EVERY FEW MINUTES. THE CAR ALSO OVERHEATS WHEN SITTING IN A PARKED POSITION. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR SLOWED TO 25MPH. WE WERE VERY CLOSE TO BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.

WRENCH LIGHT IS ON ONCE I START THE CAR (STILL IN PARK) IN DRIVEWAY. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 50 FEET AND I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ONCE I HIT THE GAS TO ACCELERATE MY CAR DOES NOT GO FORWARD AND IF IT DOES IT WILL SLOWLY JUT FORWARD, REPEATS THIS ACTION OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. ONCE CAR IS RESTARTED THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNS OFF. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE SEPERATE TIMES ABOUT TWO TO THREE MONTHS APART EACH TIME. FORD CLAIMS THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE. VERY SCARY TO TURN IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOUR CAR IS GOING TO ACTUALLY ACCELERATE OR NOT.

AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL, IT FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS STALLING OR JUTTING FORWARD, AND THEN THE CAR WOULD TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND EXIT THE HIGHWAY TO PARK, AND THE CAR TURNED OFF ONCE MORE AS I WAS EXITING. I PARKED THE CAR, WAS ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT AROUND THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A CAR SHOP IN WHICH THEY WERE UNABLE TO INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS AS A DAY LATER THEY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT PERFECTLY NORMALLY. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE, THIS HAPPENED ABOUT FIVE MONTHS AGO.

IN FEBRUARY OF 2016 THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE MIS-FIRING. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER PULLED FAULT CODE FOR #3 CYLINDER MIS-FIRE AND RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUG CHANGE. HAD SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND CAR SEEMED TO BE A LITTLE BETTER. FEBRUARY 2018 THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE AND ACTUALLY STALLED FOR COOLANT TEMPERATURE BUT THE CAR HAD JUST BEEN STARTED. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY AGAIN DIAGNOSED #3 CYLINDER MIS-FIRE. CYLINDER PRESSURE TEST FAILED. DEALER TOOK ENGINE APART AND FOUND THAT SIGNS OF OVERHEATING IN JUST THAT CYLINDER WHICH DAMAGED THE CYLINDER GASKET AND ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER. THE CYLINDER WAS DAMAGED AND THE DEALER REQUEST ENGINE CHANGE. THERE IS A FORD RECALL VERY SIMILAR TO THIS FOR LIKE VEHICLES BUT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECALL # IS 17V209000. FORD'S RECALL # IS 17S09. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COOPERATE WITH THE DEALERS FINDINGS AND WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE ENGINE IS CURRENTLY TORN APART WITH A VERY LARGE LABOR BILL ALREADY AND NOW A NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED FOR A DEFECT IN THE WAY IT WAS BUILT. CURRENTLY WITHOUT A CAR AND A VERY LARGE REPAIR BILL THAT I CAN'T AFFORD. PLEASE LOOK INTO WHY THIS MODEL YEAR HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED WITH THE CURRENT RECALL. PLEASE HELP! THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT CASTLE FORD IN MICHIGAN CITY, IN 46360. THEY HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION OF THE DIAGNOSTICS THERE.

DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND OFTEN THE VEHICLE HAS NO POWER. SPUTTERS AND THEN THE ENGINE REVS HIGH AND TAKES OFF. OFTEN DURING DRIVING THE RPM GAUGE WILL SPIKE, LOSS OF POWER OCCURS AND THEN THE VEHICLE JERKS AND POWER IS RESTORED. DOES NOT MATTER THE LENGTH OF TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, THESE INCIDENTS HAPPEN EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 2-12-2018, USED WITH 46XXX MILES ON IT.

IN OCTOBER 2017 MY FUSION STALLED OUT FOUR TIMES (THREE VARIOUS DAYS AND ONE DAY 15 MINUTES BETWEEN STALLS) AND AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 4TH. EACH TIME I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH; FOUR TIMES ON A CITY STREET AND ONCE IN A PARKING LOT. IN EACH CASE I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR AN HOUR OR MORE AND THEN STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (1/2 HOUR OR SO). WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR TO DRIVE AWAY THE CAR WOULD START NORMALLY AND THEN WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE CAR WAS PUT INTO DRIVE AND MOVING IT WOULD START TO SPUTTER AND SHAKE AND THEN STALL OUT. IN EACH CASE NO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. I WOULD WAIT A FEW SECONDS, PRESS THE START BUTTON, THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK A FEW TIMES, AND THEN IT WOULD START. EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT AND NOTHING WAS NOTED. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER WHERE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. IN DOING RESEARCH, I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODY.

TWO WEEKS LATER, IT OVERHEATED AGAIN, AND MY COOLANT WAS LOW AGAIN. REFILLED AND MONITORED FOR LEAKS. NO LEAKS. THEN VEHICLE BEGAN MISFIRING. DIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS. STILL MISFIRING. REDIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. THEN IT JUST DIED. WOULD NOT START. ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS FLOODING. DIAGNOSED WITH NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. THEN DISCOVERED TSB FOR A BOLT THAT WAS BACKING OUT OF THE INTERCOOLER AND INTO THE MANIFOLD. THIS ISSUE WAS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FLOOD THE MANIFOLD AND CAUSE MISFIRING. GOT THAT FIXED AS WELL AS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TURBO UNIT FOR THE CAR WHICH WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE COOLANT ISSUE. $5,000 IN REPAIRS FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE LEFT MY FAMILY AND I STRANDED IN THE DESERT HEAT WITHOUT A/C OR IN THE SUB-ZERO SNOWY MOUNTAINS WITHOUT HEAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EVEN START. ON MORE THAN THREE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING OR COMING TO COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OVER 60 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT POSES A GRAVE DANGER AND SAFETY RISK. WHEN THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED THE CONSOLE DISPLAY READ "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK". AFTER THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ROD BAKER FORD IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS FOR SERVICE (PURCHASE LOCATION). THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, BUT I BELIEVE THAT THEY DID NOT CONTACT FORD OR TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO FIX THIS SERIOUS DEFECT. MOST RECENTLY ON JUNE 22, 2015, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN DRIVE......THERE IS A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING DEFECT WITH MY 2015 FORD FUSION AND IT MUST BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 27A AT 65 MPH [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, BUMPING THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS BUMP CAUSED THE MOTOR TO CUT OFF. [XXX] WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN OUR DRIVEWAY. [XXX] HAD PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AS [XXX] EXPLAINED WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT WAS LOCATED. WHEN [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN HE BUMPED THE IGNITION SWITCH OR KEYS AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF. WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE OUR GARAGE AND CONTACTED FORD OF OCALA FOR A SERVICE APPT. ON 5/2 WE DELIVERED THE CAR TO FORD/OCALA. [XXX] SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM WE EXPLAINED. THEN [XXX] GOT INTO THE CAR WITH MS. LEATHERS KEYS AND REPEATED SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BY BUMPING THE KEY/IGNITION SWITCH. [XXX] WAS ANOTHER EMPLOYEE IN THE SHOP WHO WITNESSED THIS HAPPENING. [XXX] SAID HE NEEDED TO CONTACT TROUBLESHOOTING AND THAT COULDN'T HAPPEN UNTIL MONDAY. 5/4 I CONTACTED FORD/OCALA AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WORK WAS DONE, UNDER WARRANTY, AND THAT THEY CHANGED THE KEYCHAIN AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. ONLY THE KEY CHAIN WE WERE USING WHEN WE WITNESSED THE SHUTDOWN WAS NOT THE ONE FORD/OCALA HAD. I SPOKE TO [XXX] AT FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SHE SAID WE COULD TEST OUR KEY CHAIN AND THE MODIFIED KEY CHAIN IN THE FUSION. [XXX] WENT ON 5/8 TO TRY THE VEHICLE, WITH THE MODIFIED KEY CHAIN AND [XXX], THE SERVICE MGR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. AGAIN, [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, BUMPED THE IGNITION SWITCH/KEY CHAIN AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF. [XXX] RESPONDED THAT THE CAR WAS SUPPOSE TO WORK LIKE THAT. SHE THEN SAID WE HAD TO GET THE CAR OFF THEIR LOT. THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND NO ONE SHOULD DRIVE IT. THE CAR IS STILL AT FORD OF OCALA. THE IGNITION SWITCH IF BUMPED CAN CUT THE MOTOR OFF.
