Back up camera screen glitches and goes black when backing up. I have to pull forward and try reversing again to get the camera to work. When backing out of my driveway it’s an inconvenience but backing out of a parking space is a much bigger issue. Half way out of the space it will glitch distorting the picture or goes black with no picture.
The problem is the rear backup camera and I know Ford has recently issued recalls for certain models due to the camera being broken. The problem is that this is a 2015 model fusion and is being excluded from that recall but is having the exact same problems stated. It includes the camera not working, black lines appearing across the screen, or just flickering on and off. I think Ford should expand their rear camera problem to more years because it doesn’t stop at 2016 models.
Backup camera broken, works only at random times. The Dealer confirmed today it needs to be replaced. Other 2015 Ford Fusions have already been recalled for this issue. I am asking you to expand it to include his VIN.
Rear View camera has distorted image or changes to a blue screen before saying camera unavailable. It is an intermittent issue that has been happening over many months. No accidents or injuries have been caused.
Rear view camera reverts to a black screen when the vehicle is put in reverse. The screen indicates an error. This has been ongoing for a year. The 2016 Ford Fusion has been granted a recall on this issue - why wasn't the 2015 model included?
Back passenger seatbelt won't work. Mirror sensors go off randomly when no cars are around when I'm in reverse. Backup camera malfunctions and the screen turns black.
Backup camera is showing a distorted/flipped image while in reverse. Nor does the parking assist work. No incidents have happened, thankfully.
The backup camera only works intermittently causing blind spots. I have not had the car/camera inspected but can make it available upon request. The problem first appeared about 1 year ago.
My rear view camera has not worked properly for almost two years now, and has progressively gotten worse over that time period. It will just go out when I’m in the middle of backing out of my driveway or a parking lot. It’s out more than it is on, and has almost caused a serious accident recently in a parking lot. It is an accident waiting to happen. It’s my understanding that this is a serious Ford issue. They have yet to acknowledge it though for my model. I’ve contacted Ford and the dealer to no avail.
My backup rear camera does not work more than half the time. The screen will go black or just not change at all and it will also say camera unavailable contact dealership. I have not been able to take it anywhere to get it looked at due to money issues. No warnings or anything. Just started one day in July 2025 and has kept doing it ever since.
The vehicle's backup camera is experiencing intermittent functionality issues, failing to provide a consistent display. This sporadic operation poses a significant safety risk when the vehicle is in reverse.
My rear backup camera has been malfunctioning for several months now. When it decides to work at all, it flips the image from left to right and vice versa. Other times the backup camera doesn’t even work. And sometimes it has yellowish lines going through the images which distorts other cars behind me even more. Ford needs to fix this at no cost to me. There’s a recall on their other backup cameras in other Ford models. Not sure why the 2015 ford fusion wasn’t included in this recall because it’s doing the same thing - flipping the images, which makes it confusing when I’m backing up my car.
Rearview camera goes blank or sometimes freezes. Problem is intermittent but a safety issue due to affecting the visual display.
While driving car it begins to shaking and unable to accelerate than cuts off, will sometimes restart and can drive but does the same thing again, during this process a wrench symbol and check engine light come on. Had spark plugs replaced the first time, still was doing it. Also the throttle body removed and cleaned continued, so replaced throttle completely it’s been 2 days no issue so far, but the car belongs to my daughter and it happened while she was driving car was purchased used a year ago, this is the first time we had this issue not sure if previous owners experienced same issues.

When starting the car this morning, I noticed that the steering wheel was driving kind of stiff and the car was kind of losing control while I was accelerating down the street. A while later in the day, my wrench light came on and then turned off, but a couple of months later a warning light came on saying Hillside assist not available, and then another warning light popped up after that one saying Service advance trac. So I turned the car off and attempted to restart it and the lights stayed on.
Rear view camera intermittently stops working entirely or shows a mirrored image (view is reversed).
My backup camera has started to glitch like the other 2015 fords that are in recall. The screen will get green lines through it, go black, flip horizontal/vertical, flash on and off, it creates more of a distraction than assistance and makes it very hard to back in/out of tight spaces. I have not taken it to the dealership. Right before the other recall was released I called the dealership and told me I’d have to get a whole new camera installed and pay out of pocket. Has not been inspected No warnings or other symptoms prior
The trunk of the car randomly opens even when in motion sometimes enough to block my rear window and often when I can’t safely pull over right away. This keeps happening over and over. It is not just one incident on one day but multiple incidents over multiple days.
The Telematic Control Module/Unit failed and it is unavailable through Ford. I am told that Ford no longer makes the part. The part controls the many of the car's operations vital for safe driving. (Part No. HS7z14G229EH)
Check engine light, Code P0303. #3 cylinder misfire. Coolant leaking into cylinders 2 & 3 due to faulty casting of the short block. This was a known defect of 2015 Ford Fusion 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine by Ford Motor Co. No recall was issued. I was not notified of this defect until it happened. Ford covered repairs for some vehicles but not mine stating I was not within the required timeframe. I had to pay $7200.00 to repair this problem. I only had 80,000 miles on the car. I feel a recall should have been issued on all these cars since Ford knew about the defect. Please look into this and require Ford to issue a recall. Thank you.
My vehicle will not turn on after refueling, but there are no signs of visible damage. The check engine light remains illuminated, and the code read for the O2 sensors. The RPM jump up and down at the slightest push of the accelerator, and occasionally the engine will shut off when RPM drops to idle speed.
Rear door lach wont lach. Door just swings open. Will call dealer today. Happened yesterday 8/25 2024.
My first problem is that when i try to accelerate the speed it acts as if it doesn’t want to go above the speed that I’m already going! Also my engine light pops on and off and says it could be a number of things such as my brakes and exhaust. The last problem is that my brake lights will not turn off at all.
I noticed the coolant level keeps getting low. There was a large amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. It sounds like water in the dash. Now the car is barely drivable. No warning lights have come on.
TWO PIECE LUG NUTS. DEALER WILL NOT ROTATE TIRES BECAUSE THEY SAY THE LUG NUTS ARE SWELLED AND ARE AFRAID THAT THEY WILL DAMAGE THE LUGS NUTS AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE TIRE IF I HAD A FLAT SINCE MY LUG WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BUY REPLACEMENT NUTS AT $100.00+. FORD SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THESE AT NO COST TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE.
The ACM (Audio Control Module) has failed in my 2015 Ford Fusion. Three times there was a very loud thump. Then the radio had a very loud static sound followed by silence. The radio won't even change stations or modes I can not use the radio, handsfree phone, google map assistance, cd, anything that is related to audio. Many complaints regarding the same issue are listed online. Wondering if Ford should do a recall on this failed system.
The transmission shift bushing fell off and my gear shift is stuck in park while the transmission indicator is registering as neutral. This was a recall for many Ford Fusion models but apparently not mine, although it is certainly the same issue the other models were experiencing. The bushing lubricant/bushing appears to have worn down over time resulting in this issue.
Car was taking him for a recall on brake lines. Dealer phoned me and suggested that they replace the Lugnuts because they are a two piece. They are swollen and it’s a safety issue. I agreed to have them replace them at my cost because there is no warranty on these defective Lugnuts I see that this is an ongoing issue that Ford has known for quite a while. I think they should reimburse the people for the money they have spent on the dealer charges or just warranty them for the rest people that come in with the same issue. I also believe that my dealer is way over charging 10 Lugnuts will be about $100 for me to pay whereas I can buy a set of 20 of them online for under $20. I think this is outrageous.
Trunk unlatching on its own. Sometimes while in traffic.
My trunk keeps popping open randomly at least 6-10 times a day. It happens at night, during the day, when I’m out running errands. It might not happen for a day, but then happen for the next few days in a row. There is no rhyme or reason as to why or when it will happen. I have googled this problem on line abs see that it is a major problem with this make model and year. My trunk keeps getting wet because it does not stay in a garage and the rain just pours in at night if it opens during the night, which it has several times now. I took it to the Ford dealership today to have them fix a different recall issue and fix my trunk. The trunk did not pop open for them when it was there abs therefore they said they couldn’t fix it. I am very disappointed with this answer. I need my trunk fixed now with all the rain and eventual snow of winter and Ford has no answers for me, and hasn’t helped fix the issue with anyone else that I see with this same issue on line. This is definitely a defective issue that Ford needs to fix asap!! This is not acceptable and is a major driving hazard as it happens when driving as well. I wish I could afford to get a different vehicle but I can’t. This issue first started this June 2023. I changed my key fob battery as some suggested, but no change. When this has happened if I have been in the car I can hear a definite “clicking” sound in the trunk area. Possibly a faulty wiring system?? I want this fixed as I am moving to another state in a month and I am very scared to have this fly open on the highway and put myself and others at risk….hence why I took it in today to have them fix the recall and also replace the trunk so that it is fixed, but they said it didn’t open for them when it was it was in the shop for a couple hours and therefore there wa smithing wrong with it that they could see. Definitely not acceptable abd I need this fixed asap if this car is to be considered safe to drive for me and for others on the roads.
The OEM back up camera will spontaneously go to a black or blue screen and at times will just say, “back up camera not available”. Being without a back up camera leaves a blind spot where you can’t see small children or pets that are directly behind my car. When it does work the picture displayed is reversed wich can disorient you
The side mirrors adjust to a position on their own. They also become fixed in this position and are unable to move. Not sure why this happens. I saw some complaints of water exposure being the issue but I have not been able to test this theory. This issue becomes very dangerous when on any road but especially the highway
My sun visor came off when I went to put it down while I was driving which almost led to a car accident on the highway. The one in my passenger side is doing the same thing.
My Ford fusion has a coolant leak and ford said I need a repair. Price for repair is $9,584.89. It is a known problem with a TSB (see below) Summary This article supersedes TSB 19-2139 to update the production fix date. Issue: Some 2014-2019 Fusion vehicles built on or before 10-Jun-2019 and 2017-2019 Escape vehicles built on or before 08-Apr-2019 equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble codes (DICs) P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To resolve the condition, replace the short block and head gasket.
The contact called on behalf of her father who owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check engine light illuminated, and the vehicle was misfiring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that spark plug #3 failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that all the spark plugs, and the coils were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who stated that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a third independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the vehicle was receiving the incorrect fuel. The contact was advised to use Chevron fuel. The contact stated that the failure continued. The vehicle was finally taken to a Ford dealer where the failure was diagnosed as a blown head gasket; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall and to contact the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact related the failure to an unknown manufacturer recall for the head gasket however, the year, make, and model was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Engine has a misfire on cylinder #2. Documented at dealership and has same issue as Id number 10213732 or 21N12 under Ford Customer Service. Build date for our vehicle is 07/14 which is not covered by this T.S.B., but obviously has the same issue as the bulletin. Car misfires while driving, accelerating and decelerating. I believe the build dates should be expanded to all 1.5 ecoboost with this issue, which is coolant intrusion by a poorly engineered engine block.

Fuel Rail and vacuums are faulty. Gas remains over 1/2 a tank and vehicle stalls and shuts off while trying to drive. The engine shuts off while in drive . Acceleration is still not allowing for the car to run when starting and after a while the vehicle shuts off while driving.
We having a problem with transmission failed. I noticed a recall for 2015 Ford Fusion. The car is running but stayed in limp mode and will not go over 40 mph.
Vehicle MIL came on while on the interstate in very heavy traffic. Lost power and almost caused a severe accident. Barely made it to shoulder. Dealer performed diagnostics and stated it was coolant intrusion into 1.5 liter ecoboost which destroyed the engine. Evidently this is a known problem with this engine which the manufacturer has not addressed.
i bought a 2015 Ford Fusion from a dealer in May 2022 i had only been driving the vehicle a month & 1/2 before it began to smoke really bad, so bad to where the drivers behind me visibility was affected....I made it home safely not knowing if the car would explode because of all the smoke and the smell, and the overheating of coolant and warning lights. I called the dealer I bought it from they said they couldn't help me cause it was past the few weeks they gave me to call them with issues, but said i can pay their mechanic to fix it for over $4000.00 which I do not have because I am on disability with a fixed income. I am still paying the note for this vehicle which I cannot drive and cannot afford to fix. It is just parked. I don't know what else to do, I took it to the Ford dealership near me and they said the engine needed to be replaced and would cost 10,442.00 which is more than what i owe on the car...I don't understand why there is no recalls for this vehicle and others that Ford and other dealers seem to know had or have this issue. I have read online and heard on YouTube so many people have had this same issue with their Ford vehicles and can't get any help to repair them. I am beyond frustrated that people can lie so easily, manipulate or con people into buying a product knowing it will not perform the way it is intended. I'm asking for a recall on all the Fords that have this issue with the coolant leaking in the cylinders of the engine or whatever to cause the entire engine to need to be replaced. I'm a honest person and expect the same from others, especially the ones licensed to run business'. It is unfair to consumers who spend their hard earned money out here to keep the economy moving to be sold unsafe, tarnished, broken and knowingly corrupt products. Please help as many of us as possible, because a lot of us aren't rich, we are just hard working consumers hoping our money get us what we pay for! Fairness, Honesty and Quality Products.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle started to vibrate and began to lose motive power. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed that the short block needed to be replaced. While driving the the lights and sound came on with Service Advance Trac and Hill Start Assist Not Available. Then the check engine light comes on flash and I can’t accelerate next it drags no pickup of speed. I took it back to the dealership after I got a recall done and these lights came on but they couldn’t find anything wrong to repair my car sat for days with no loaner or call back I’m still paying for this car monthly. I felt something moving as I tried to press on the gas pedal. Please assist
Automotive Warning Lights: Multiple Light Syndrome (dash indicator lights) - at times while my vehicle is running all the warning lights start coming on and my steering wheel starts to get tough to turn (almost like it doesn't have power steering at all). The only thing that takes it off is if I shut off my car and restart it. This happens almost 5 times a week. It will show ABS, power steering, check engine and a bunch of other things. Just had the bolts that were recalled on the steering wheel fixed but this is still an ongoing issue. The vehicle only has 58000 miles.
I am not sure what part or components, but I am experiencing a smell of some kind that is making me sick. As in, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, headaches and migraines. This only happens when I am in the vehicle and only at certain times throughout the day. I've been vacationing for several months now and this is a reoccurring problem. When I am driving the smell is trying to put me to sleep and I have to pullover on the interstate to sleep and I have been putting the windows down to try to stop the reactions I am having. But, the smell continues even when the engine is not running. That is the best way I can explain the experience that I am having. Thank you so much and have an absolutely amazing day.
My 2015 Fusion backup camera has been intermittent or non-working for several years. I took it to the dealer who said it would cost $600 to repair, so I have not repaired it. Now I see that they have recalled 2015-2017 Mustangs for the same reason and wonder if my Fusion has the same defect that the Mustangs do.
Ford Recall from 2019, #19S16 FAILED ..the bushing they replaced as part of this recall has failed, causing the same safety issue the original recall was supposed to fix. The car shifter is in park but the car remains in neutral. Serious safety issue. Brought car back to the dealer that originally did the recall repair, but they refuse to fix this issue as part of the recall and the manufacturer says the recall only covers this issue ONE time. The car has less than 55k miles on it, and it has only been 2 years since this recall repair was done (also, last year the car was hardly driven due to covid). The original recall covered several types of fords - so many car owners are unaware that this bushing will fail again. What recourse do consumers have when the recall repair does not fix this issue????
The engine leaks coolant into the cylinder, which causes repeated overheat warnings which completely disengage the throttle.
Driving in very heavy rain on I93 at about 40mph, exited highway, after about 5 miles, no power steering, many other functions stopped operating, limped into a parking lot, tried to reset everything by shutting off and back on, no change. Brought car to dealer, said they had to replace power steering unit, $2000. This happened when car was only two years old.
The Display for sync / phone / radio / backup camera went black & now no display of backup camera etc. Reset does not correct problem. Fuse good. Disconnecting battery / reconnect does not correct. Known problem with other Fords Accessory Display Module & Screen. Very expensive failure.
A few weeks ago, the Passenger Sun Vizor in my 2015 fusion suddenly came part. I have attached photos of the current condition. There is no change in handling as I have just used this as a support for the dashboard sunshade as a protection from the hot Arizona Sun. Currently the Vizor is hanging by its wire (Please see photos) and presents a big Safety risk from a visibility and handling standpoint (since its just suspending by itself). When I contacted Ford (via Twitter), they asked me to take it to a dealer to have it checked. Dealer is asking for $159 inspection fee which is absolutely ridiculous since a problem like this should be inspected and fixed for me (being a safety issue). I request NHTSA to take action by bringing this to Ford and getting them to review this issue for a possible recall. I would also like my Vizor to be inspected and repaired as soon as possible.
My name is [XXX], My daughter stated that she was driving her 2015 Ford Fusion down the highway, and panicked when the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. She was pushing down on the brakes as hard as she could, and the vehicle would not slow down. Thankfully, by the grace of GOD, the vehicle eventually started slowing. She crept home afterwards. The vehicle is now at Mullinax Ford in Mobile Alabama. The address is 7311 Airport Blvd. Mobile Alabama, 36608. The phone number is 251-261-0238. The vehicle has 80 thousand miles on it. I have kept it in excellent condition due to the fact that I do not want her to breakdown in the middle of the road. However, I never expected that the vehicle would autonomously accelerate and potentially kill her due to a wreck. I am concerned that the vehicle can no longer be trusted. What can be done to resolve the issue? Will the manufacturer pay for the fix? Will the fix be professional, and actually remedy the malfunction? Do I have a legal avenue of approach? Will you please have someone investigate, and rectify. Can my daughter please have a temporary, or permanent replacement? This has been a burden due to the fact that she needs that vehicle to go back and forth to college. She will probably have anxiety driving the fusion if, or when the fusion is returned. I am asking for help. I do not know the system or component that malfunctioned. I do not know if the system has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Since vehicle was purchased in 2014, it has had electrical issue with starting. It has needed a jumpstart at least 50 times and was brought back to the dealer multiple times with no solve. The dealer advised we just need to drive it more to charge the battery. A few weeks ago, the car would not start or shift out of park. A jumpstart was attempted and but the car still would not start. When trying to start the car, the warning chimes were beeping rapidly and the following message cycled on the display: see manual, steering assist fault service required, service AdvanceTrac, low engine oil pressure, engine coolant overtemperature, park brake malfunction service now. The car was towed to a Ford dealer. The dealer advised the battery, starter and alternator were fine. They said the car was fine and it then drove without issue for a couple weeks. A few weeks later while driving, it completely shut off and would not start in a turn lane. The headlights turned off and would not come on. The hazard lights were turned on but only worked on the mirrors, not the front or rear hazard lights. This was extremely dangerous as it was dark out and we were almost hit from behind. The police were called and blocked the vehicle for safety. The tow truck driver was unable to jumpstart the vehicle or get it out of park with a jumpstart power applied but all the displays were working normal so it was not an issue with the battery. The same warning messages that were displayed weeks earlier were displayed again after the car turned off: see manual, steering assist fault service required, service AdvanceTrac, low engine oil pressure, engine coolant overtemperature, park brake malfunction service now. The vehicle was towed to the same Ford dealer that said there were no problems a few weeks ago and it is acting the same as the day the the car stopped working in the middle of the intersection. This could happen on a highway or anywhere and shut the car down without warning.
On 7/30/2021 I filled up my gas tank at a local Sunoco. After doing so my engine would start and quickly stall. Thinking I may have gotten "bad gas", after several attemts of re-starting my car and while in neutral I reved up the car a few times between 3-4 thousand RPM's to posiibly "blow out" and any water or sediment which at the time I believed was do to the gas, and it ran fine for days and did not stall. I continued to drive the car to work and errunds with no issue, except for about 3 days after gas fill-up when my engine light came on. Although the car ran fine, on Tuesday August 2 2021, I went to local Auto Zone and they ran the diagnostic that indicated a P1450 error which said on the report "Replace Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Purge Control Valve". The following morning August 3rd, I called my Ford Mullinax dealership when they opened at 7:30, and the closest appointment was not until Monday August 16th ! (a quailfied local mechanic said he could not do the work and would actually have to send the car to Ford himself.) On the following day August 4th, I drove the car to work (a 76 mile round trip primarily on the interstate). The car ran fine on the way there and up to a point on the way back, until the engine made a intermittent very loud noise and did so after several times after, until the engine completely and unexpectedly shut down and narrowly missing a very dangerous rear end collision. I called AAA to tow my car, and when the driver arrived 25 minutes or so, the car was in a position which made it difficult to place on his flatbed tow truck that he arrived with. He asked if I could start it up, and I said I doubt it would but I was willing to try. Much to my suprise it fired righ up! I assume that it had time to cool down and that this was only temporary. Definetly NOT SAFE to assume everything was now ok ! From that 8/4/2021 day until today as I document this incident on 8/9/2021, I have been fortunate enough to borrow a friend's 2nd vehicle
While driving, my vehicle stalled with no obvious warning. There were no lights displayed or other issues with the vehicle prior to this. I was able to press the gas pedal; however, it did not function. The car immediately slowed to a "coasting" speed while in traffic. This has occurred without warning on at least 3 occasions, all while in traffic. I have also noticed that this happens after having turned and after accelerating. This could have easily caused injury to myself and other drivers.
This is a complaint on the ability to get repair made under NHSTA 20V-177, Ford recall notice 20S15. Under the process set up by Ford Motor Company I am being told by 2 dealers the repair can take up 2 to 5 days with the vehicle at the shop. The labor time allotted by Ford for my vehicle is 1.8 Hrs to make the repair. Ford is NOT authorizing a rental car. It is my understanding that recall notices issued by NHSTA should not be any expense to the consumer and completed in a timely manner. How are consumers like myself, who is a senior citizen with only one vehicle suppose to get around? Or a working person to get to work. Why is the NHSTA letting Ford get away with this? Is this not a serious safety issue? Your response is appreciated.
Had dealer work on recall 18s20. Transmission linkage. After 9 days got the car back and the recall work failed with less than 60 miles traveled. creating a very dangerous roll away event. Basically the car was placed in park. The car rolled away.
I was driving in hot 95 degree weather on on freeway with my A/C on going 65 MPH when my car beeped and a message popped up saying my engine coolant was too hot. My temp guage was at the highest temperature at Hot in the recline. I quickly turned off my A/C and slowed down and got into the farthest right lane. I was about to pull over when the temp guage dropped back to normal operating level which is about the middle. I drove slowly and exited and the car was NOT steaming or smoking. I left it running and checked underneath and NO leaks or drips of any kind. I drove off and upon accelerating the temp rose up not quite to the top of guage but close and then back to normal again. I got to my destination and left 5 hours later and it seemed fine. I checked under hood that night and coolant was below MIN line. I checked again the next morning and it was still at the same level. I have a 1.5 ecoboost engine and notice some white smoke coming out tail pipe some mornings when reversing out of driveway on rear camera. I had to order coolant and meanwhile took it straight to my mechanic who can't find a problem. Where did the coolant go? There are no codes popping up. I get regular oil changes and maintenance. I thought my engine was going to blow up. I've never drove a car and saw the temp guage at the top without some sort of steam or loss of power. My mechanic says he did the pressure test overnight and all seems fine. I safely changed lanes but it was very nerve-racking. My mechanic drove it onto freeway and says guage goes up and down but doesn't know why. I hear a watery sound by my feet sometimes when accelerating from a stop. I thought it might be the turbo engine? It runs a bit rough sometimes too. UNCERTAIN but I dont want to get stuck on the road later or pay for costly repairs when issue could been avoided. Already having to pay 200.00 to diagnose and potentially another 200.00 for further testing. I'm at 71,000 miles now and out of warranty.

WE DIDN'T HAVE THE $700, SO THE MANAGER JIM AYO EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF WAGES FOR A FULL DAY'S JOB AND A CAR THAT IS NOT RUNNING OR USABLE. I AM BAFFLED AT THE FACT THAT IT IS A FORD ISSUE FROM A RECALL BUT I AM EXPECTED TO FIX IT. THE APPROXIMATE FIX TIMEFRAME IS JULY 2018 OR AFTER. I WOULD LIKE A SOLUTION ASAP AS THIS IS MY VEHICLE FOR TRAVELING TO WORK.

ON AUG 15, 2018 MY CAR'S SHIFTER BECAME STUCK ON THE PARK POSITION HOWEVER THE NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH BOARD STATED 'TRANSMISSION NOT ON PARK.' I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DAVID W. WILSON'S VILLAFORD ON AUG 16, 2018 AT 9:56AM. THE DEARLER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE MY CAR DIAGNOSED AND IF IT WAS THE RECALLED PART THEN THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW WHAT OPTIONS I HAD. THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE A DIAGNOSIS FOR ME AS OF 10:09AM ON AUG 17,2018 WHICH IS WHEN I DECIDED TO CALL CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT FORD MICHIGAN'S HEADQUARTERS. I HAD A CASE MADE WITH THE FORD HEADQUARTERS WHICH RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFYING ME THAT I COULD HAVE A RENTAL FROM THEM WHILE THEY CONTACTED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS ABOUT HOW TO MOVE FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP THEN STATED THAT THIS WAS AN ADVANCED RECALL WHICH FORD HEADQUARTERS IS NOT YET COVERING AND BECAUSE THEY ARE CONTRACTED THEY WOULD NOT PAY OUT OF POCKET TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY ASSISTANCE TO HELP THE SITUATION. ONCE I ASKED WHY THIS RECALL ISN'T BEING COVERED THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY SAYING IT WASN'T INTACT THE RECALLED PART BUT A CABLE. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS AGAIN AND THEY AND ASKED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IF THEY HAD ANY RESOURCES TO HELP ME SINCE THE NEW PART WAS NOTE YET AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FORD WAS NOT GOING TO COVER ANYTHING FOR THIS RECALL YET AND BECAUSE OF THIS I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A RENTAL OR TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH PER FORD HEADQUARTERS, THERE IS STILL NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE RECALLED PART YET. AFTER TESTING I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL SAYING THE BUSHINGS THAT ATTACH THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION HAD DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE IN PARK BUT STUCK IN REVERSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS WITHOUT ME KNOWING BECAUSE I THINK IT'S IN PARK AND THERE'S NO SIGN OF ME KNOWING IT'S STUCK IN REVERSE EXCEPT WHEN IT STARTED TO ROLL AWAY AND ALMOST OVER ME AS I WAS GETTING OUT. MY 2015 FORD FUSION HAS DIFFICULTY CHANGING GEARS WHILE DRIVING, SPECIFICALLY SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND, THEN SECOND TO THIRD. ALSO, ROUGH SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS WHEN I MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THE CAR DID NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. I PUT IT BACK INTO PARK, THEN INTO REVERSE AGAIN AND IT SHIFTED. I DRIVE IT HOME, VERY SLOWLY, AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. FORD CORPORATE IS INVOLVED, AFTER FOUR MONTHS OF ME ASKING FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND THEY HAVE NOT INFORMED ME OF A CONCLUSIVE DECISION ON WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO. I AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE SO MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR ISN'T GENERATING ANY CODES, AND THEY HAVE, SO FAR, REFUSED TO PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION AND ASSOCIATED PARTS IN THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT QUALIFY FOR THE LEMON LAWS IN MY STATE BECAUSE I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I PURCHASED IT AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FROM WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A REPUTABLE DEALER. IN DEALING WITH THIS DEALERSHIP, I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT THE DEALER IS WORTHLESS AND SHADY. I'M WORKING WITH ANOTHER DEALER NOW, AND THEY SEEM TO BE A BIT BETTER. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FROM 9:00 AM PST UNTIL 5:00 PM PST AT MY WORK SITE WITH ALL 4 WINDOWS CRACKED ABOUT 1/2 TO 1 INCH. AS WELL I NOTICED THAT ON THE BACKSEAT DRIVER SIDE THE HEAD LINER HAD DETACHED FROM ROOF AND BELOW WEATHER STRIPPING. ATTEMPTED TO PUSH IT BACK UP BUT IT WILL NOT STAY AFTER THE SUNROOF CRACKED. ENTERING THE CAR I ROLLED ALL WINDOWS DOWN, TURNED ON AC WHICH WAS SET AT 64 DEGREES AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE SUN ROOF BEFORE DRIVING OFF. ALL WINDOWS AND OPEN SUN ROOF WAS TO HELP EVACUATE WARM AIR THAT REMAINED IN THE CAR AS IT WAS PARKED DURING THE DAY. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS 9961 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. CARE IS DRIVEN ABOUT 6 MILES MONDAY - FRIDAY FROM MY HOME TO WORK AND BACK.

DIAGNOSED WITH NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. THEN DISCOVERED TSB FOR A BOLT THAT WAS BACKING OUT OF THE INTERCOOLER AND INTO THE MANIFOLD. THIS ISSUE WAS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FLOOD THE MANIFOLD AND CAUSE MISFIRING. GOT THAT FIXED AS WELL AS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TURBO UNIT FOR THE CAR WHICH WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE COOLANT ISSUE. $5,000 IN REPAIRS FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE LEFT MY FAMILY AND I STRANDED IN THE DESERT HEAT WITHOUT A/C OR IN THE SUB-ZERO SNOWY MOUNTAINS WITHOUT HEAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EVEN START. AS A FAMILY, WE TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!

THIS WOULD HAPPEN MORE OFTEN WHEN I'M IN RUSH HOUR ( STOP AND GO TRAFFIC). THEN I FIGURED MAYBE IF I TOOK THE HWY HOME IT WOULDN'T DO THAT. NO SUCH LUCK. AS I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET OFF AT THE EXIT I NEEDED IT MADE THAT SAME NOISE AGAIN. I HAD JUST GOT OFF THE HWY ONTO A BUSY STREET (DURING RUSH HOUR). I WAS IN THE RIGHT TURNING LANE AND COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE FOR A FEW SECONDS. SO UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET IT FIXED I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE SIDE STREETS JUST IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AT LEAST ON A SIDE STREET I'LL HAVE TIME TO PULL OVER OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC TO LET THE CAR SIT FOR A SECOND TO READJUST ITSELF. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY SO OFTEN, UNTIL WE HAD A CHANCE TO GET IT FIXED.

I DO THE SAME PROCESS AND BEFORE. I EVEN CALL CUSTOMER CARE AGAIN AND THEY TELL ME THE SAME THING, SO I TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALSO TELL ME THE SAME EXACT THING. THE THIRD TIME IT DOES IT AGAIN I CALL CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY STILL TELL ME THE SAME THING, BUT THIS TIME I REFUSED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALERT TONES EMITTED BY THE REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM AND CROSS-TRAFFIC ALERT SYSTEM ARE SO LOW THEY ARE NEARLY INAUDIBLE WITH THE RADIO OFF AND THEY ARE INAUDIBLE WITH THE RADIO ON.

THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE WIPER AND/OR WINDSHIELD DESIGN - IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE WHEN IT IS RAINING, EVEN JUST MODERATELY RAINING, AND EVEN WITH THE WIPER SPEED ON HIGH. I CAN'T TELL IF THE WIPERS ARE TOO SLOW, IF THE ANGLE OF THE WINDSHIELD PROMOTES WATER RETENTION, OR IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE WIPER MECHANISM DESIGN (INSTEAD OF GOING THE SAME DIRECTION, THE WIPERS START IN THE MIDDLE AND GO SEPARATE DIRECTIONS TO THE OUTSIDE EDGE). FURTHERMORE, EVERY TIME THE WIPERS MAKE A PASS THERE APPEARS TO BE A FILM ON THE GLASS THAT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO CLEAR ' IT LOOKS SPLOTCHY, AND ISN'T AFFECTED BY TEMP/DEFROST AT ALL. AT NIGHT WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR OR UNDER STREET LIGHTS THIS MAKES A TERRIBLE GLARE, AND OF COURSE THE FASTER YOUR WIPERS ARE GOING, THE MORE "FILM" THERE WILL BE BECAUSE THERE'S NO TIME FOR IT TO CLEAR BETWEEN PASSES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH 16 MILES ON IT AND NOTICED IT THE VERY FIRST TIME I HAD TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN (I'M NOW AT 7500 MILES). BETWEEN THE INADEQUATE PREVENTION OF WATER ACCUMULATION AND THE STRANGE FILM, THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. BEYOND THIS, I HAVE NOTICED FOR QUITE A WHILE THAT THE EXHAUST/MUFFLER MAKES A LOUD VIBRATION NOISE, AND AT TIMES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN APPLYING BRAKES (DOWNSHIFT) OR WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING.

MY 2015 FORD FUSION WAS PARKED OUTSIDE IN OUR COMPANY'S PARKING LOT IN THE MORNING AND UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR IN THE AFTERNOON (TEMP WAS IN THE 90'S) THERE WAS A CRACK ACROSS THE SUNROOF FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. ALTHOUGH THE SUNROOF DID NOT EXPLODE WHILE DRIVING AND NO ONE TOUCHED THE CAR WHILE IT WAS PARKED, THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS A WIDESPREAD DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE GLASS USED IN FORD'S SUNROOFS AS IT POSES A SAFETY HAZARD IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR IF IT SHATTERS, SHOWERING THE DRIVER WITH GLASS.

THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR 7 DAYS WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN AND ON THE 8TH DAY I WENT TO USE IT AND I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO OPEN IT WITH THE MANUAL DOOR KEY. I TRIED TO START THE CAR BUT THERE WAS NO LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD INSTRUMENT AND CAR DID NOT START. THERE WAS NO SOUND OF THE STARTER MOTOR. I TURNED ON THE RADIO AND IT WAS DEAD NOTHING ON THE RADIO PANEL. I REALIZED THAT THE BATTERY MAY BE DEAD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND MEASURE THE BATTERY WITH A DIGITAL MULTI-METER AND THERE WAS ONLY 2 V DC - THE BATTERY NEEDED TO HAVE 12 V DC TO START THE ENGINE. SINCE I HAD A BATTERY, I CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR 3 HOURS AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE. I USED THE CAR FOR 4 DAYS AND LEFT IT PARK FOR 8 DAYS TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN - BUT IT DID NOT. I SAID TO MYSELF THAT IF I HAD LEFT THE CAR AT THE AIRPORT FOR A WEEK AND I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET HOME WITH THE 2015 FORD FUSION. I SAID TO MYSELF THAT TELLING IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY MAY NOT BELIEVE ME SO THAT IS WHY I AM WRITING THIS REPORT TO NHTSA.

ON MORE THAN THREE OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING OR COMING TO COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OVER 60 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT POSES A GRAVE DANGER AND SAFETY RISK. WHEN THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED THE CONSOLE DISPLAY READ "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK". AFTER THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ROD BAKER FORD IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS FOR SERVICE (PURCHASE LOCATION). THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, BUT I BELIEVE THAT THEY DID NOT CONTACT FORD OR TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO FIX THIS SERIOUS DEFECT. MOST RECENTLY ON JUNE 22, 2015, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN DRIVE......THERE IS A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING DEFECT WITH MY 2015 FORD FUSION AND IT MUST BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I LIKE MANY OTHERS AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THE KEY FOB/IGNITION ISSUE. I AM 5FT9 AND A HEAVIER GUY. I BOUGHT THIS CARE FOR MY WIFE BUT I DRIVE FROM IT FROM TIME TO TIME. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING BOTH ON THE ROAD AND BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY KNEE OR LEG HAS BUMPED THE KEY AND IT HAS TURNED THE CAR OFF. I DREAD TO THINK ABOUT THE DAMAGE OR DEATH THAT ISSUE CAN CAUSE ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. IF THE KEY TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING, THIS CAN CAUSE TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND DEATH. A KEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ROTATE AS EASY AS IT DOES ON THE FUSION. I HAVE HAD OWNED MANY CARS AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN A KEY TURN IN THE IGNITION AS EASY AS THIS. ALSO THE FAN IS VERY LOUD WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED ON. THIS KEY ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL NOW BEFORE PEOPLE DIE.

NOW THE VEHICLE AS ME WORRIED BECAUSE IF IT IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND SINCE DAY ONE IT HAS BEEN MAKING LOUD NOISES. WILL KEEP THIS UPDATED IN CASE IF I HAVE TO TAKE A THIRD TIME. WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 27A AT 65 MPH [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, BUMPING THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS BUMP CAUSED THE MOTOR TO CUT OFF. [XXX] WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN OUR DRIVEWAY. [XXX] HAD PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE AND PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AS [XXX] EXPLAINED WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT WAS LOCATED. WHEN [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN HE BUMPED THE IGNITION SWITCH OR KEYS AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF. WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE OUR GARAGE AND CONTACTED FORD OF OCALA FOR A SERVICE APPT. ON 5/2 WE DELIVERED THE CAR TO FORD/OCALA. [XXX] SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM WE EXPLAINED. THEN [XXX] GOT INTO THE CAR WITH MS. LEATHERS KEYS AND REPEATED SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BY BUMPING THE KEY/IGNITION SWITCH. [XXX] WAS ANOTHER EMPLOYEE IN THE SHOP WHO WITNESSED THIS HAPPENING. [XXX] SAID HE NEEDED TO CONTACT TROUBLESHOOTING AND THAT COULDN'T HAPPEN UNTIL MONDAY. 5/4 I CONTACTED FORD/OCALA AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WORK WAS DONE, UNDER WARRANTY, AND THAT THEY CHANGED THE KEYCHAIN AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. ONLY THE KEY CHAIN WE WERE USING WHEN WE WITNESSED THE SHUTDOWN WAS NOT THE ONE FORD/OCALA HAD. I SPOKE TO [XXX] AT FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SHE SAID WE COULD TEST OUR KEY CHAIN AND THE MODIFIED KEY CHAIN IN THE FUSION. [XXX] WENT ON 5/8 TO TRY THE VEHICLE, WITH THE MODIFIED KEY CHAIN AND [XXX], THE SERVICE MGR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. AGAIN, [XXX] REACHED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN, BUMPED THE IGNITION SWITCH/KEY CHAIN AND THE MOTOR CUT OFF. [XXX] RESPONDED THAT THE CAR WAS SUPPOSE TO WORK LIKE THAT. SHE THEN SAID WE HAD TO GET THE CAR OFF THEIR LOT. THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND NO ONE SHOULD DRIVE IT. THE CAR IS STILL AT FORD OF OCALA. THE IGNITION SWITCH IF BUMPED CAN CUT THE MOTOR OFF. MY CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE, BUT ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WENT BLACK AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL I WASN'T GOING ANYWHERE. THERE WAS A TRUCK NEXT TO ME IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE, I WAITED FOR IT TO PASS AND THEN GOT OVER. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT MY CAR IN PARK.
