Complete loss of power steering. Service advancetrac light on Hill assist not available 2016 fusion but is not included in the recall. Car was sold to me and is registered in Pennsylvania, the salt belt. Ran scanner got codes U0240 and C102D. Clear codes, immediately get power steering back. Slowly lose power steering again, until complete failure. Super unsafe, first time this happened I was on the turnpike with my son. Speed limit is 70 m.p.h. I had to go 40 with my 4 ways on. Barely had control of my car. Very scary.

The in-dash backup camera stopped functioning about 2 years ago. The errors are random and range from glitching video, delay in activating, not switching off(driving forward with rearview camera activated), and a error code pop-up to contact the dealer. 100 percent of the time, the image is displayed in reverse making backing up impossible.

My complaint is, why does my 2016 Ford Fusion 1.5L 4-Cylinder EcoBoost Engine continue to be excluded from these major recalls? It's not fair as I deserve to have my engine, clock spring, & my rear view camera replaced just like the other Ford vehicles! I purchased my 2016 Fusion in 2018 & only a couple of years later I started having problems with the rear view camera but the dealership said that it wasn't covered under the warranty. I have always smelled engine coolant & oil but was always told that there is nothing leaking on the ground so there's nothing to worry about. Also I reached out to you guys in 2024 with the Gmail address of [XXX] ) about my steering wheel clock spring & never heard anything back, so I purchased a new one on [XXX] & replaced it myself when it arrived. Also earlier that day, I had my valve cover replaced at Brad Howell Ford in Kokomo, IN because I have been constantly losing oil & smelling oil burning. Even after that, I continued to smell oil & engine coolant but still get told that there's nothing leaking. Well my next oil change after that, I told them to check again because I had to add more oil, & that's when they determined that it was the turbo drain tube, which they replaced on Nov.5, 2024. That stopped the oil smell, but I continued to smell engine coolant which I continued to report to them, & at each oil change, they continued to top off the engine coolant. On Aug. 12, 2025 Brad Howell Ford decided to run a camera down into my cylinders & discovered that there's oil & coolant leaking down into my #2 cylinder. I contacted Tonia Frataccia, Customer Experience Specialist, Ford CX/Team, & I was told that my VIN# didn't make the recall list & that's why my engine wasn't replaced. It's not fair as my vehicle has the same defective engine & parts as the other recall vehicles & I deserve to have my car repaired also at Fords expense. Please help me, I need my car. I was driving on the expressway. My car Went into limp mode it didn’t stall completely out, but I was not able to accelerate any eventually the wheel became tight. every light came on.. I made it safely off the expressway. My car would not start the ODB port is not reading. I’ve taken it to several mechanics all of them say that it’s my PCM. They said my PCM needs to be reprogrammed. There’s currently an active recall from my exact car but when I search my vin It tells me I have no active recalls.

Seemingly randomly all center console functions and door functions shut off (no a/c / heat, can't roll down/up windows, outside ambient temp and can't unlock/lock doors from inside buttons (key still works as well as door handle unlock / speed lock) can be hazardous in even mild temp as interior heats up quickly without air flow. Other non-important functions that stop working include radio/stereo and back-up camera. Research points possibly to bcm apim miscommunication or improper grounding.

rear view camera works ( sometimes ), The rear view camera worked fine for years, but I brought the car in for basic service at the Ford Dealer > oil change, tire rotation, fluids topped off > and after this repair, my rear view camera wasn't working.. I brought it back to the dealer, and they claimed what they did had nothing to do with the rear-view camera.. The service manager said a new camera would cost $ 800, but they would do the repair for $ 500 ( which seemed odd, but that's a story for another day ). Regardless... with all the news I'm reading about Ford recalls, including rear view cameras... I feel this rear view camera issue started years before they think, or will admit to, and should be investigated. I can bring my car into any nearby location for inspection if requested.

When key is in ignition and either In on position with engine off or In accessory state the dash starts to click and the hood then releases and opens Does not happen when key is not in the ignition and driver door is open or when car is running or when car is locked but does happen if key was just removed from ignition and door has not been opened yet There are not service lights on and all trunk buttons still work when pressed

I have had road salt contamination with the electrical wiring to the power steering causing the wires to become brittle and break causing a power steering failure in a right curve which caused the steering wheel to jerk the car to the left nearly causing a collision. The power steering failed again due to high friction inside steering gear and has a broken bolt on the EPAS motor to the steering gear.

Our 1.5 EcoBoost engine overheated on 3/20/25, my daughter was driving and the vehicle started shaking and it slowed way down, for a moment she feared for her life, she said it had a message and the check engine symbol was illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate, when she got it was leaking coolant and white smoke, I took my OBDII scanner, one code was P1299 Cylinder Over temp Protection Active, it now emits white smoke and overheats and looses fluid. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 1.5L EcoBoost - Low Coolant, White Exhaust Smoke And/Or Illuminated MIL - Built On Or Before 10-Jun-2019 20- 2100 01 April 2020 This bulletin supersedes 19-2375. Backup camera hasn't worked for years on 2016 Ford Fusion. Recalls were deployed for other vehicles yet not mine. Obviously Ford has a serious problem with their backup cameras and should be required to fix all make and models.

The trunk randomly pops open at random times. From the vehicle to being parked or driving down the highway. Multiple mechanics as well as Ford have stated they are unable to locate any problems. Once it is popped it takes 30-45 seconds for the clipping to stop before the trunk will close again. Often it will immediately re open and I have to go through this cycle 3-4 times before it stays closed until the next incident

When audio system is turned on or volume is turned on, loud cracking booming and static noise comes through at random moments. More noise occurs while driving 55+ but still occurs when idiling. The audio occurrence has almost caused several accidents since its loud ear piercing noises that comes from speakers. I have taken it to the ford technician to no avail. Due to other forums this is a issue with most fusions. The noises started occurring after my back up camera was replaced.

Well, the next day I checked the fuses & they were fine, so that's when I went online & found out that the clock spring in the steering wheel could most likely be the problem. Well I decided to dig a little deeper into the matter & I found out that some 2016 Ford trucks had been recalled because of faulty clock springs which also could cause the airbag not to deploy when needed. I was just told by an employee from a local Ford Dealership that the 2016 Ford Fusion was not a part of that recall, which I believe should have been a part of that recall, because I'm pretty sure that the same clock springs that were used in those 2016 trucks, were used in the 2016 Ford Fusions. I would like to ask that you would please look into this mater, because this is a serious mater, & I think Ford needs to fix this problem. They should be responsible for all of their vehicles with these bad clock springs & not just those trucks only. Thank you for your time & all you do to keep us safe on the road. God Bless you all! The contact stated that the battery had failed several times and was replaced approximately 5 times. The contact also stated there was exhaust coming out of the tailpipe during the initial start-up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the alternator was producing 20 volts while accelerating, causing the battery to overheat and burn out. Additionally, cylinder #3 was misfiring due to anti-freeze leaking into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and it was confirmed that there were no recalls related to the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 142,728.

Date of first incident was Nov 19, 2023. I was driving home from taking my elderly mother to the doctor and my engine just shut off. I had plenty of gas, my oil and transmission had been changed, no warning lights came on my dash prior to the engine stopping. The only message I had on my car said the car is not in park. No one can seem to find out why. It has done this at a moderate rate of speed (45mph). My steering wheel locked and I can't steer the car giving me the option to get to a safe place on the road. Date of first incident was Nov 19, 2023. I was driving home from taking my elderly mother to the doctor and my engine just shut off. My trunk pops open by itself, without being activated. So far, if I keep my car locked, it will stay shut, but it has popped open while the vehicle was in motion. This is a safety hazard! It has been happening every day for the last several months.

Rear camera works intermittently. The Ford Dealer service said it failed and it'll be 800.00 to fix... I passed on that... but now that I'm seeing other Fords with camera recalls, I wonder if this problem is related.

In the last 4 years the battery has had to be replaced 3 times. Each time the car runs great then is shut off and the next day won't start, no lights and can't even get into the car without the key. The vehicle can't be jumped or battery charged, everything is dead. Upon replacing the battery everything works fine for about 2 years.

When driving my 2016 Ford Fusion, the Transmission Not In Park light comes on without any other warnings. This is unsafe because it stops accelerating. Most times I'm on the freeway. This is a safety issue that has been happening for about 2 years now. The dealerships tell me that they can't fix it because the safety issue does not occur when they have the vehicle and cant read any codes. One Ford dealership sold me a radiator and told me that was the issue. A different Ford dealership told me that it has nothing to do with the radiator. No one seems to be able to repair this safety problem that I am experiencing. Another Ford dealership told me that there is a recall but my VIN Number does not fall in that recall. How can I get my vehicle associated with the recall and have it repaired. I feel so unsafe driving especially in construction zones where I am unable to pull over. Once I coast across traffic to pull off the road I stop the engine. It starts right back up. This is unsafe. No vehicle should stop accelerating while driving. The service lady at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle stopped returning my phone calls. How can this safety issue be rectified as soon as possible. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle.

Our camera cuts in and out. We took it to Ford initially to run a diagnostic but they killed our battery doing the test and never finished. Now the camera is showing things opposite..our mailbox is on our right backing out but camea shows left. Same when a car pulled to our right but camera showed left and caused us a scare. Completely unreliable. It cuts off/on constantly when using it to back out and sometimes doesn't beep.

The engine coolant leaked into the cylinders as a result the car had rough idles and startups with overheating issues as well we dying on me completely while driving. Confirmation on coolant leak by big o tires, solution is new engine. There was a cylinder 3 misfire code with the check engine light.

When driving vehicle on warm starts, vehicle stalls and engine loses power. Warm start means any time vehicle was driven, turned off, and then restarted after less than 30 minutes of being turned off. For example, when fueling at a gas station, or making a quick errand into a store or fast food restaurant. One once occasion, vehicle also stalled after shifting to drive after an extended period of idling (approx. 20 minutes - was idling hoping to avoid stall when beginning to drive again). In general, vehicle will start (but may need a few tried before turning engine over), and idles at 500 RPM, rather than expected 1000 RPM. On acceleration, when vehicle reaches 2500 RPM or greater, needle drops to 0 and vehicle shuts off while driving. On some occasions, vehicle will also stall/shut off when decelerating as well (particularly in parking lots or instances when one may drive and stop/slow frequently). I took vehicle to mechanic and learned that turbo charger was leaking oil into throttle body - both were replaced by mechanic, but issues persisted. The vehicle stalls while driving, putting the safety of myself, my passengers, and other vehicles at risk in case of collision due to sudden stall. The vehicle has been taken to my local mechanic as well as the Ford dealership - in both cases I was advised that the check engine light was not on, and that there was nothing they could do until the light came on or vehicle was stalling consistently. The vehicle is now stalling consistently, however dealer informed they are not able to do anything because the engine light is still not coming on. The dealer did confirm they were able to reproduce the issue, and my local mechanic also confirmed reproducing the issue. These problems began on or around January 5, 2023 and vehicle was first assessed by local mechanic on January 11, 2023.

Temporarily Lost communication with the Climate System. When this error appears on the dash the following doesn’t work: AC and Heat are shut off completely. None of the controls on the bottom half of the center console panel work. This includes the heated seats, radio knobs, or any climate control button, rear defrost doesn’t work. The climate control quadrant, the lower right, on the touch screen doesn’t work. The outside temperature doesn’t work. The control buttons on the door don’t work, can’t adjust mirrors, seat recalls or control the windows. When there is no AC and can’t lower the windows, this is very bad in the summer can cause heat stroke. Bad in the winter can’t keep the windows free of ice. Happens very sporadically, even while driving it turns off. So far, the trouble shooting seems to indicate a wiring harness under the driver seat as the problem. Numerous owners have reported this problem. The dealers have not been able to resolve the issue. Even after paying 1000s of dollars.

I have a silver 2016 ford fusion the problem is the latching from driver door and rear right side door . I take very good care of my cars for this to happen twice is not my doings but the car. I was off to do some errands I opened my driver side door I got in and closed the door and it shut completely I started to drive off I came to a stop where I was turning right, when I turned right my door opened and I almost crash to a car that was coming straight . I fixed the door latch then a couple weeks later the same thing happens to the rear right side door thankfully there was no car or objects near me i could have crashed into .

The APIM on my 2016 Ford Fusion Energy is, as per the local Ford dealership service department, refusing to take software updates provided by Ford rendering the instrument control cluster inoperative on an intermittent basis. This means that at the least from my personal experience the backup camera (to me, a safety issue), radio (inconvenience), navigation (inconvenience), bluetooth/phone (dialing, hands free - to me, can be a safety issue), and some climate/HVAC functions (inconvenience), do not work. I do not know if the collision avoidance system is also affected. Please see NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V406000 for similar issues for different Ford models. The question here is that Ford is offering a software update for free, but the software as written is not capable of updating the APIM in my car. If Ford agreed to fix an earlier APIM problem with other models with a free software update, and the software update does not install properly on Ford equipment rendering useless safety-related functions, does the consumer then have to pay for the fix? I have asked the service department at the dealership to provide me with the module. I confirmed with national Ford Customer Service that Ford is unwilling to offer any support for parts (about $700) and/or labor (about $600) for a version of the APIM that will take the software update as written (we hope). I did attempt Ford's instructions for updating software and was not successful; the dealer confirmed that their efforts to update the software after several tries were not successful either. I attach a photo of the first error message received when the problem started. Over the last few months, the trunk has been opening randomly - this has happened while parked in the driveway, reversing out of the driveway and also while driving. Sometimes when I close the trunk, it stays shut. Other times, it just pops back open and I can hear to mechanism whirring to unlatch.

Soon after purchasing this vehicle the Bluetooth and phone links quit working. I researched and found an abundance of complaints regarding this issue. After contacting dealer and manufacturer I was basically told tough luck on this $1100.00 repair. In my opinion this is a safety issue since not being able to talk hands free can increase driver distraction. Furthermore; several states have enacted laws against hand held phone calls. Since this is an advertised feature, Ford should step up and correct this issue!

Recall on the shift cable caused my vehicle to completely stop working/ moving while I was out with my son. No notification was ever giving to me in regards to this problem. Three of four door locks have malfunctioned. As well as electric driver side seat. We have fixed two at our expense, they are obviously defective. Unable to lock doors, a person could fall out. Car lost power and just cut off right on Railroad Tracks, managed to get it restarted, called dealership in my area, took it in. They stated their computer wasn't finding anything. After a heated discussion, I finally got the head mechanic to drive it and it did the same thing to him. He said new fuel pump, so it costs me $810.00, labor included, which I thought was rape. Just a ridiculous charge, but hey I'm at the mercy of them!!! Three (3) weeks later same thing happening, just cuts off, leaving me on highway at night. Took it back, they put another fuel pump on, no charge. Week and half later, Key Fob doesn't unlock doors, even after putting a new battery in. Tire Pressure FAULT came on and car continued to cut off, again leaving me in a very dangerous situation, but I GOT LUCKY. I took it back to the dealership and told them the Liability is on them. The Car is DANGEROUS and UNPREDICTABLE, "I do not feel safe in it" and they need to keep it until they can determine what is wrong and STOP playing a guessing game. I have read over 788 complaints about this vehicle and the same things are happening to other people. I will proceed with Attorney's, News Media and Insurance Companies if this is not rectified. Sometime in the night, plugged in, no key in the ignition, the engine started and ran until it ran out of gas (in the garage with the door closed and my son sleeping on the 2nd floor over the garage). We were lucky no one died of carbon monoxide poising. In the morning the 12v engine battery was dead, smelled like it may burned up, my guess is the battery dying confused the computer. The vehicle is out of warranty, taking it to the dealer will cost me $1,000. I'm guessing that replacing the 12V battery will fix it (which is a lot cheaper). I don't plan on ever putting it back in the garage but someone needs to warn everyone else that has one of these!

They wipe the codes, give us the car back and say if it does it agin bring it back. Well we did just that and the usual process repeated. They told us today they couldn’t fix what was wrong unless the problem happened while they’re driving it. 2 times now I’ve narrowly avoided an accident because of the cars electrical system dying while driving it. This car is unsafe to drive as this happens randomly. Ford has been less than helpful at resolving this issue since we’ve bought the car. We’ve got several warranties on this car and it seems to be all for nothing. We also have video and picture proof of these incidents. Ford refuses to look at them stating they need the vehicle to do it while they’re driving it after the massive amounts of codes are cleared.

2016 FORD FUSION RECEIVED FROM DEALER ON DEC 2015. AT 39 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, FUSION WOULD NOT START, AND ALL ALARMS CAME ON (LOW TIRE PRESSURE, ENGINE OVERHEAT, PARKING BRAKE, PARKING SENSORS, ETC). CAR STARTED AFTER HITTING OK AND SEVERAL MORE CRANKS. FEB 2015 - AT ABOUT 2500 MILES, THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE THIRD TIME WAS AT 3000 MILES, ALL WITH THE SAME EXACT ALARM BEHAVIOR. THE FOURTH TIME OCCURRED ON MARCH 7, 2016 WITH 3200 MILES ON ODOMETER; THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WHILE GOING 45MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO ENGINE POWER, NO STEERING POWER, NO POWER BRAKES, NOTHING BUT ALARMS. I WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN THE CAR IN TWICE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REPAIRS AND NO REPORTED DIAGNOSTIC CODES. FORD HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES WITH THE CAR IN THEIR POSSESSION, BUT THEY REFUSED TO CONDUCT LONG-TERM DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY WERE NOT ABLE TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT'S GOING INTO THE DEALER AND NOW IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR LOSES POWER WHILE IN OPERATION.
