In our 2017 Ford Fusion, the back up camera sometimes says "unavailable at this time" (or something close to that) when put in reverse. It is available for inspection upon request. Safety is put at risk for multiple parties - the driver/owner, individual(s)/property behind the vehicle, insurance companies, and potentially others as the total view between mirrors and the backup camera is compromised. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealership as it is out of warranty. I see where Ford has a recall on some of these, so I checked both NHTSA and Ford websites, and it says this vehicle is ineligible for repair. However, we are experiencing this problem from time to time, most recently 2 days ago when our [XXX] old was driving it. He called to let us know what the camera was doing. I believe having a safety device glitching is unnacceptable, and I would like to see Ford resolve this issue for not just my car but all of them having a KNOWN issue! NHTSA COMPLAINT - 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Titanium (VIN: REDACTED) - [XXX] (Collision) Q1: FAILED COMPONENT Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) and hybrid battery cell balancing circuits failed post-collision. Per Ford Recall 23V-440, Current Interrupt Device causes excess voltage, fire risk, toxic gas exposure. DTCs: U1027 (ABS/ECM loss), P2450/P2451 (EVAP stuck open/closed), P0DD2/P0DD6/P0DDE (battery cell balancing circuits H/J/K/M stuck off). Vehicle available for inspection. Q2: SAFETY RISKS Sudden power loss, fire risk, CO/HF toxic gas exposure from damaged cells. HF IDLH 0.025 g/m³. Symptoms: headaches, cognitive issues, respiratory problems requiring Brain MRI. No Ford dealer conducted required post-collision battery diagnostics despite DTCs proving multiple system failures. United Insurance Claims ignored [legal demand] for hybrid-specific inspections. No CO/HF assessment. Battery cell balancing failures indicate physical collision damage to high-voltage system. Q4: INSPECTIONS Insurance: Standard only, ignored DTCs requiring hybrid testing. Ford Service (Tempe, AZ) and Ford Collision Center (Mesa, AZ): No inspection; reasons given a) lack capability b) we just scan the vehicle; we don't thoroughly inspect for gas leaks". Recall 23V-440 documents identical failures. Police: No report (real-time audio capture of admission of at-fault driver), no hazmat assessment. What malfunctioned- Car did not give any notice that it was in engine failure for months other than under performing and upon taking it to the ford dealership was never helped with the problem they took money for an oil change and works package but failed to make sure my car was safe. My car was a safety hazard bc it gave zero warning that it was loosing power and when the engine did fail I knew something had been wrong for almost a year and felt it went ignored by Ford and was taken advantage of. The product has been confirmed by multiple mechanics that what causes it is the hose cracks and thus the engine coolant wrecks a working engine. Ford knows it’s a problem but isn’t acknowledging it and makes more money off of parts.
I believe my 2017 ford fusion should be included in the recall for the BECM for the 2019-2020 because my charging port has a sticker with QR code and ( CD391 PHEV ) and I keep having intermittent problems with the Battery Energy Control Module
I obtained my vehicle on Lease in 2017 with 40K miles from Ford of Branford CT. When off lease I purchased it outright. I still own the vehicle and am still having Two main problems, One since almost the beginning. The First is the automatic seat control(driver's). This system would periodically push the driver into the Steering Wheel. I brought it into that dealership several times for that reason, while still in CT. They did claim to get it to stop doing this with some resets, but over time it continued. Around 2020, the vehicle began going totally dead. Initially it was determined to be the Starting Battery. My concern was it to ba a Compiter or Power drain problem. Several batteries and Dealership visits didn't solve it. I moved to SC in May 2022. These problems continued there, where Cox Ford of Southern Pines took over. After more Service visits the only answer was a BAD BATTERY. Recently, after returning from Vacation and having to jump start the vehicle two times, I had several conversations with the service department. Finally a new Service writer found some information. A Technical Service Bulletin described how in this vehicle, how under seat wiring for the automatic seats, were becoming frayed and shorting on metal rails.(182025A). Also another for Battery Drain (SSM 50250). My Automotive background (which I no longer do) Tells me that electric seat wiring, grounding against seat rails could cause the Battery to be Draining. I believe they could be connected.
There is a recall on 2017 Ford Fusion's torque converter. I currently have a 2017 Ford Fusion. After inspection at a Ford service dealership, the "torque converter clutch internally failed filling the transmission filter with metal debris and starving the pump for fluid causing debris to go throughout the transmission." The problem with this, is that even though it's list as a recall for ,y specific car, the recall is not listed under my VIN number. This inspection was done on December 17, 2024. The safety of myself and children were put at risk when my car hesitated to accelerate on multiple occurrences on busy roads and intersections. The problem has been reproduced by a Ford dealer and has also been inspected by a Ford service dealership. There were no warning lights on indicating that there was a problem.

The 12v battery on my 2017 Fusion Energi titanium has failed every 6-10 months since buying the car new. Each failure is at best, inconvenient and expensive, however on multiple occasion it resulted a dangerous situation that compounded, knocking out fuses for components which manage power steering and other components. It was extremely difficult to pull over safely with my two young children and we were left stranded until we had a replacement battery delivered on the freeway. Ford knows this is a problem and says that it’s because the car is designed without a alternator and then changed the warranty coverage on the batteries from 3 to 2 years because of how much money they’ve been losing on replacements with warranty tolling.

My brakes are faulty sometimes I’m not able to stop like I should. I also have transmission problems. When I put the car into reverse or drive I hear a loud boom. It is getting worse by the day. I see that the transmission is on a recall as well.
Shift system failure. 2023 replace plastic piece that was not a recall on 27 but was a recall on all other models. Last week shift system failure $706 to replace shifter picked up car Saturday. Today car is being towed back for shift system failure again. Car will not go out of park. I have all receipts and invoices from.
I purchased this vehicle in late 2017 and immediately experienced an electrical issue that de-charged the battery. It was less than two weeks after my initial purchase. Since then, I have been stranded several times, inconvenienced, and frustrated by the level of service I received at Liccardi Ford in Watchung NJ. I have replaced this battery 4 other times since the initial replacement. This is clearly an electrical defect that NO ONE at Ford wishes to acknowledge. Instead of pouring more money into this vehicle or filing a legal claim, I contact the FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS LINE (Spoke with someone name William) who failed to be considerate of my particular situation. This has been happening to me as a Ford customer for 7 years!!!!. In that time frame, I replaced the battery 5 times. That is not normal. I would to report that this is a defect and a recallable issues. Ford should have accepted this issue as a recallable defect years ago. The shift dial (park, neutral, drive, reverse), makes a continuous spin noise like it's stuck and trying to turn, but can't. This is the second time this is happening. I had it fixed the first time at the Ford dealership, and was short one year in the Recall group. 2017 year should have been included in that recall. After they fixed it, now the issue has returned. This issue results in the driver not being able to move in reverse. Therefore, you're stuck and unable to back up if needed. There are no warning lights. The only warning you get is when the rattling noise starts.

The Rotary "Dial Shifter" keeps coming on while the vehicle is turned off as well as making a gear sound saying it's not in park when it is. I have had the vehicle for a month and I've had to jump the car 5 times already as it will come on and stay on. I looked it up and some fushions were recalled for it with the issue of that and the cd player and rear speakers making noise. Trying to see if another recall can be issued on more of the fusions.
Turbocharger leaked oil into the engine causing irreparable damage to the engine. Oil leaking cause engine failure, smoke coming out of the tailpipe, several blown gaskets and steering wheel malfunction. Cars computer system froze, enabling vehicle to move forward. Motor mounts were faulty, loose and unstable. Grinding sounds coming from wheels, vehicle alignment is unsteady. Issues with this vehicle previously reported under NHTSA ID #11534780 updated information being reported after repairs have been repaired.

1). 3 days after purchasing the vehicle I wasn't sure but I could tell that something was wrong so I called my husband and told him while driving the car that something was wrong and he needs to notify the dealership. 2). 5 days after purchasing the vehicle I went into a grocery store. When I came out the car was on/running, all by itself. 3). Additional problems occurring on a daily basis with the vehicle which lets me know that it's electrical problems are as follows: A. The vehicle randomly turns on and off all by itself, this is very hazardous. B). The headlights also randomly do not work while driving the car, day or night, which is very hazardous for both me and my clientele, as I am a Lyft driver. C). The interior lighting on the console and dashboard become dim or do not turn on at all, day or night. D). While driving the vehicle it does not always accelerate properly, which is very hazardous in traffic. E). The Bluetooth system connects and disconnects itself randomly. F). The air and heating system randomly turn on and off without being touched. G). Charging my phone in the vehicle is also challenging as it does not always work. H). Bluetooth radio stereo system is continuously problematic, volume randomly increases and decreases and turns on and off by itself, even with the vehicle completely shut down. I). After locking the doors, everything inside the car does not completely turn off. Interior lighting sometimes turns off and on separately, and it can take up to 30 minutes for the dashboard lighting to go off. J). The instrument panel often makes some sort of sound/noise and the gear shifter dial will aluminate even though the car is off/completely shut down. K). While driving, front windshield defogger will randomly turns on, causing the windshield to fog up, distorting vision, which is very hazardous. L). Dashboard vents emit an extreme amount of heat even though both heater and air conditioner are completely off.

My car started smoking out of nowhere, smoke was coming out of the tail pipe. My cars check engine light begin to blink. The whole entire car begin to shake. It was making a rattling sound, the car begin to slow down on its own, even though I was pressing the gas. It wouldn’t go any faster than 65 miles an hour as the car begin to shake and make a loud rattling noise. My AC went out all of a sudden this was two hours after getting it serviced.
Due to transmission issues from what in hearing. The cars front end locked up while i was driving. I could not push the car out of the steeet. It is stuck in park. Luckily I wasn't on the freeway. But I was on a busy street and the police had to block the road.
Car dies and fuel tank honks all the time even while putting gas in it won’t start or will die it happens at red lights all the time I have a hard time grit to start back up it’s very dangerous

The TCM (Transmission Control Module) is faulty in this vehicle causing unstable gear shift that slow and stop the vehicle making it extremely unsafe to drive. I've been made aware Ford employees are familiar with this issue in the 2017 Ford Focus yet I have seen no attempt by Ford to contact owners (me) to address and fix this issue.
Failure of shifter cable bushing, which has been documented as recall in 2016 model but not yet for 2017
Both front windows go down automatically when trying to close the window. Has been fixed at dealer twice. In order to close window, you have to “pulsate” the button to almost closed. If you go all the way up, window goes down. Have had this same issue with other Ford vehicles
unknown vehicle needs to be jumped after every drive. i just picked up the car. only have had it for 4 days. have had to jump it twice. it has 61,000 miles on it. i have taken the battery out and in for a charge and tested and it it good was also purchased 7/22. all of the interior screens and lights come on but the start/stop button green light blinks. don't understand why there isn't a recall.
When putting my car in park, I received a warning "SHIFT SYS FAULT" Confirm Park Brake Apply Before Exiting the Vehicle. My parking brake was never on. When I got back in my vehicle, my gear shift would not let me take put my vehicle into gear. I googled and found it was the gear shift bushing and there was a recall on this part. I was able to take my vehicle to the repair shop and told them there was a recall. They informed me the recall was not for my vehicle because the recall was for automatic transmissions on 2016 and before. How can this exact same part be a recall on an automatic vehicle, but not on an electronic "dial" gear shift?
As I was driving my check engine light came on and my car started to jerk. I had some previous issues with my AC and radio delays. I took the car to the dealer and he said my PCM was missing a ground and if I continued to drive it the engine could catch fire. The car is only 5 years old. He says they have seen this a lot in these cars.
Trunk keeps popping open on its own while driving. Has happened at ranging speeds between 5 and 60 mph, different hours throughout the day, Temps between 27 and 70 degrees F. The Key fob is in clear site, on its own no one holding or any chance of button being pressed. Has also happened while in park, car not running. Came outside and it's open, also no chance of key fob being pressed. Happens multiple times per day. Removed all objects from truck, nothing on inside pressing or near safety release or blocking latch. Duplicated with different drivers and passengers present.
The Air conditioner blower will turn on all by itself while driving. The on off button for the radio stopped working
The APIM in the vehicle is malfunctioning causing a constant drain on the 12v battery system. I brought the car to Ford and they said it is a common issue with the APIM malfunctioning, they quoted me 1800 to change the APIM which i can not afford. I was driving to work and my car smelled like rotten eggs, I started feeling nauseous and light headed. When I got to work I opened my trunk to get my backpack and noticed the smell was really strong in the trunk and was coming from the 12v battery. I touched the battery and it was scorching hot. After some research I found out that the rotten egg smell was the battery producing hydrogen sulfide gas which can be fatal. I believe an investigation should be opened to look into this for if I passed out behind the wheel from the gas myself and others would have been at risk of injury or death.
Vehicle constantly has 12v battery dying. Replaced with new battery and same thing 12v battery keeps dying. Hooked up my current meter to the car and it is constantly drawing 11amps from the battery. Pulled fuses until the current draw stopped and issues is coming from the APIM. I also did some research into the issue and it appears a lot of people are having the same issue where the APIM is not shutting off. How has there not been a recall on this yet? This can be dangerous if you can't start your car and your stuck in a snow storm for example.

While driving, the dashboard goes black. When this happened, I slowed down to stop. After I’m almost stopped, the engine stops and spins the gear shift into park making grinding noise as cars do when they go into park before coming to a complete stop. This has happened twice.
The car will not shift. The car will start but I cannot shift from Park to neutral or drive
I drove about 11 miles total to get on the interstate, when I was about 7-9miles into my drive, my steering wheel started to lock up. I slammed on my breaks, and kept twisting and turning my steering wheel for about 2 miles to the nearest gas station. I had tons of lights pop up on my dash and they said my steering system is failed. Something along those lines. It said something about my shifter being messed up as well? I have had 0 lights on, 0 warnings, nothing. If I was going any faster than I was I could’ve been seriously injured. I almost ran straight into a bridge before I slammed my breaks on to ensure I wouldn’t hurt myself or wreck the car. Not sure why my steering would just all-of-the-sudden go out? I haven’t had any problems previous to this situation so it’s very unsafe and honestly terrifying. This situation could’ve gone south really fast, if I would’ve been on the interstate it could’ve been fatal.

BACK IN 2018, 1.3 MILLION FORD FOCUS VEHICLES WERE RECALLED DUE TO A FUEL PURGE VALVE. WHO'S TO SAY THE SAME ISSUE IS STARTING TO OCCUR AGAIN, BUT TO THE FORD FUSIONS? MY 2017 FORD FUSION THAT I PURCHASED 6 MONTHS AGO HAS THIS ISSUE. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN! I DROVE ALL THE WAY BACK ON THE RIGHT HAND PASSING LANE BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND COULD EASILY CAUSE A ACCIDENT AGAIN! I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR MY SISTER (SHE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER) WHO HAS FOUND HER FORD FUSION WITH A DEAD BATTERY SEVEN TIMES, STARTING THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. ON FOUR OCCASIONS IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, THREE OTHER TIMES JUMP-STARTED BY HER NEIGHBOR SO SHE COULD GET TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS. DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS, SHE CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THESE APPOINTMENTS. APPARENTLY, THIS DEAD-BATTERY ISSUE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FUSIONS. IN JANUARY 2018 FORD ADMITTED THERE IS A BATTERY DRAINING PROBLEM AND INSTRUCTED HER TO HAVE THE PCM REPROGRAMMED (ATTACHMENT 2). IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE DRAINING. IN HER CASE THE BATTERY WAS FOUND DEAD AFTER SITTING STATIONARY IN EACH INSTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE NEXT TIME, SHE WILL FILE A LEMON LAW CASE. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL OF THE FUSIONS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, WHICH SUBSTANTIALLY AFFECTS SAFETY, USE AND MARKET VALUE OF THE CAR.

THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT SINCE THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING IT COST ME $ 95.

ON AUGUST 7TH, 2018 THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS LEAVING WORK, I ACCELERATED AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. I PROCEEDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS I WAS GETTING HONKED AT BY OTHER DRIVERS, TURNED CAR OFF AND ON AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY. I OPENED A NEW CASE FILE WITH FORD CAS15469320 ON 8/9/2018. THE ETB HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN THE PAST, REFERENCE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (13N03)'. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT DURAND FORD FROM 7/27/2017 UNTIL 8/3/2017, IT DID NOT FAIL TO START, EVEN AFTER BEING PARKED FOR A FEW DAYS.

EACH TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED, I HAVE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK MY CAR BY TAKING OFF A PIECE OF THE DOOR HANDLE TO EXPOSE THE KEY HOLE AND THE DOME LIGHTS OR DASH LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON, THAT'S MY DEAD GIVEAWAY THAT IT WONT START. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THIS TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED ON 8/1/16 AND SAT TOO LONG WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN SO IT CAUSED THE BATTERY TO MESS UP(EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED A MONTH EARLIER, AND DRIVE EVERY SINGLE DAY TO WORK). I GOT THE CAR BACK AND I BET YOU CANT GUESS WHAT HAPPENED ON 2/4/17... MY CAR WAS DEAD. WOULDN'T START, WOULDN'T UNLOCK... DEAD. WHEN I TOOK IT IN, THEY UPDATED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND SENT ME ON MY WAY, SO I'M JUST WAITING FOR IT TO DIE AGAIN HONESTLY. THEN... I TOLD THEM MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING ON 5/22/17- THEY IGNORED IT WHEN DOING UPDATES AND IT WASN'T RESOLVED. ON 6/13/17 I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL SLIPPING SO THEY UPDATED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AGAIN... DIDN'T FIX IT(OBVIOUSLY) AND THEN ON 6/22/17 I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND SLIDING MY CAR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TRYING TO SHIRT GEARS(ITS AUTOMATIC) AND THEY REPLACED A PRESSURE VALVE, NOT SURE WHY YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE A PART LIKE THAT ON A BRAND NEW CAR ANYWAY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION STILL ACTS UP.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. UPON (TRYING) TO LEAVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. ALL OTHER SYSTEMS WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THERE WERE 3 OR 4 WARNINGS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD HOWEVER, THESE DID NOT REGISTER IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE RESET OPTIONS PROVIDED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL WERE NOT EFFECTIVE IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE DID NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. EVENTUALLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN ACTUATOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS, ON A CAR WITH JUST OVER 2100 MILES ON IT.....

CAR WAS PARKED FOR 9 DAYS IN AN ENCLOSED STRUCTURE AT AN AIRPORT. UPON RETURN, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. GOT A "JUMP" TO GET ENGINE STARTED. RAN CAR FOR 15 MINUTES TO CHARGE BATTERY. TOOK CAR TO A FORD DEALER. THEY SAID THEY "FLASHED" SOME COMPUTER, AND THEY THINK THEY FIXED IT.

MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S "NOT A PROBLEM". WHEN I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO "RECALLS NOR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS" ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AND TO LODGE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. THIS ISSUE IS SAFETY RELATED BECAUSE OWNERS CAN BE STRANDED AWAY FROM HOME; AND THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY. PROBLEM OCCURRENCE: THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, SHUT OFF, AND NOT USED FOR 3 OR MORE DAYS. SUSPECTED ISSUE: AS AN IT PROFESSIONAL, I SURMISE THE PROBLEM'S ORIGIN IS BASED ON THE CAR HAVING A MODEM THAT NEEDS TO "PING" AND COMMUNICATE WITH THE FORDPASS APP ON A CONTINUAL BASIS (THEIR SELLING POINT IS THAT THE CAR CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IF IT'S STOLEN). AND JUST LIKE A CELL PHONE, IF THE CAR IS PARKED IN AN AREA WITH ONLY ONE BAR OF CELL SERVICE, THE UNIT MUST USE MORE AND MORE POWER TO PING THE CELL TOWER, THUSLY DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY AT EXORBITANTLY HIGH RATES. COUPLE THIS WITH THE FACT THAT THE CAR'S BATTERY IS NOT A DEEP CYCLE HIGH CCA MODEL, AND YOUR LEFT WITH UNCERTAINTY THAT YOUR CAR WILL START THE NEXT MORNING. *TR

INTERMITTENT TOTAL FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, INCLUDING FAILURE OF DEFOGGER CAUSING OBSTRUCTED VISIBILITY IN COLD CLIMATES (VEHICLE IS BASED IN METROPOLITAN DETROIT). THE FAILURE IS BOTH ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL. NEITHER THE TOUCH SCREEN NOR THE PHYSICAL CONSOLE BUTTONS RESPOND TO COMMANDS. AFTER SECOND INTERMITTENT FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN AN ATTACHED HOME GARAGE. AFTER IGNITION, DEFOGGER FUNCTIONED, BUT NO OTHER CLIMATE FUNCTIONS WORKED. DEFOGGER EMITTED A BURNING SMELL AKIN TO A CAMPFIRE. FORCED TO DRIVE WITH SUCH CONDITIONS TO WORK TO MAINTAIN VISIBILITY. ISSUE 2: POSSIBLE FMVSS SAFETY ISSUE. INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE AUDIO SYSTEM, INCLUDING SNYC COMMANDS. TOUCHSCREEN (BOTH ON THE HOME SCREEN AND ON THE TOOLBAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN) AND PHYSICAL BUTTONS DO NOT RESPOND WHEN AUDIO BUTTONS ARE PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SYNC DOES NOT RESPOND. ALTHOUGH BLUETOOTH IS ACTIVE, OCCUPANTS CANNOT HEAR THE DIALED PARTY, AND THE DIALED PARTY CANNOT HEAR THE OCCUPANTS. SINCE SYNC IS TIED INTO 911 SYSTEM FOR CRASHES, THIS WILL PREVENT OCCUPANTS FROM ENGAGING WITH 911 OPERATORS HANDS-FREE IN AN ACCIDENT. IF OCCUPANTS CANNOT REACH/MANIPULATE PHONE IN A CRASH, THEY MAY BE UNABLE TO CALL FOR HELP. ISSUE 3: INTERMITTENT REAR CAMERA FAILURE. AFTER RAINFALL AND FROST EVENTS, THE REAR CAMERA DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE GEAR. THE SCREEN IS BLACK, EXCEPT FOR AN OUTLINE OF THE VEHICLE. THE RADAR SENSORS REMAIN ACTIVE AND BEEPS IF THE VEHICLE IS CLOSE TO BACKING INTO AN OBJECT. AFTER A PERIOD OF DRYNESS, THE CAMERA RE-ENGAGES. I ASSUME THERE IS A MOISTURE INTRUSION PROBLEM, BUT AM UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ENTRY POINT. ONLINE SEARCHES SUGGEST THAT MOISTURE MAY BE INTRUDING THROUGH THE FACTORY-INSTALLED, ROOF-MOUNTED ANTENNA.

MY CAR, WITH 2K MILES, WOULD NOT START (PUSH BUTTON START, THIS IS THE PLUG-IN HYBRID "ENERGI" MODEL). AFTER BEING TOWED TO A DEALER, THEY HAD TO TEAR THE CAR APART TO FIND A BAD WIRING HARNESS AS PART OF THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THIS PART WAS UNAVAILABLE, AND I AM HAVING TO WAIT OVER 5 DAYS TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND INSTEAD TRIED TO GET ME TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY FIX, AND THE CAR ITSELF JUST WOULDN'T RUN. TO NOT TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO QUICKLY GET A PART IS UNACCEPTABLE. WIRING HARNESSES SHOULD NOT FAIL IN 5 WEEKS AND 2K MILES. THE CAR DROVE ONE MILE, THEN WOULD NOT RESTART. IT ONLY COMPLAINED TO "GET OFF THE ROAD SOON". A FAILURE OF WHAT SHOULD BE A VERY BASIC PART AT 2K MILES IS CONCERNING, NOT TO MENTION THE INABILITY OF FORD TO REPAIR IT IN QUICK FASHION. THIS DOES MAKE ME WONDER IF THE PROBLEM IS MORE WIDESPREAD AND SO PARTS ARE HARD TO COME BY.
