After performing a panic stop where the Pre-Collision activation message and chime activated, nothing happened until a few miles down the road. At that time, The "Service AdvanceTrac," "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" and "Hill Start Assist" warning messages scrolled on the cluster with a chime to go with them. Additionally, the amber tell tale warning lights for the ABS system, electric park brake system, stability control system and pre-collision assist were illuminated. The lights turned themselves off one by one approximately five 5-6 miles after that, then all came back on with the same three warning messages about 2-3 miles after they had gone off. All remained illuminated even at the start of the next key cycle but promptly went away before leaving the parking lot. It should be noted that while the warning lights were on, the vehicle did not have electronic power steering assist though no warnings or lights told of this failure. I could just tell from the increased effort in low speed, parking lot maneuvers.

vehicle suddenly lost power while travelling at freeway speeds, and decelerated to 35 mph with no speed control. All electrical systems showed warning lights, and I was suddenly driving 30 mph under traffic speeds at a freeway interchange with no escape lanes or emergency lanes for half a mile. I am a paramedic with extensive EVOC training, and I can say with my extensive experience that this was a near-fatal situation, only avoided by the attentive drivers around me, and I almost created chain collisions attempting to maneuver to the side until there was a breakdown lane accessible. Vehicle had all electrical systems in warning, and vehicle automatically set the parking break before I put it in park. I attempted to restart the vehicle several times with no success. The vehicle entered a battery mode which did not allow use of the accelerator pedal, and automatically drove the care at 30-35 mph with only breaking control to control speed. I was able to limp the vehicle off the freeway in the breakdown lane, and move it to a safe location. This event was an extreme hazard to myself and all around me, and I compliment the semi driver behind me on his quick response to the sudden deceleration of my vehicle. Note I own 2 of these vehicles, a 2022 and a 2023, and both have experienced this issue.

I was driving down the freeway and my truck when into reduced power mode, displaying " Powertrain malfunction/Reduced power, engine service soon, and precollision assistance not available". This ended up slowing me rapidly from 65 down to under 20 miles. I almost had a semi slam into the back of me missing me by inches.

The component in question is the powertrain control module for my Maverick. After having the relevant powertrain recall reprogramming done (23E09), I was driving down the highway when I received a rapid series of warnings from my car including "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", "Service Engine Soon", and "Service AdvanceTrac" [sic]. I lost all engine power at that point, and was steadily decelerating with no response from the accelerator. There was no advance warning or messages. There was an imminent threat to my safety at that time. The loss of all power rendered the car unsafe to continue driving on the highway, and prevented me from leaving the highway in a safe manner. I was able to pull off the highway at a fortunately nearby exit ramp, however, I was unable to accelerate and was only able to coast to the nearest safe parking space. I subsequently turned my car off and on again, I found that when in drive the car would accelerate by itself to no more than 35 miles per hour, and was unresponsive to the accelerator pedal-it would only slow down if the brake was applied. Upon arriving at my original departure point, I then turned my car off and attempted a BMS reset unsuccessfully. The next day (<12 Hours since the initial failure), my car was functioning properly again but was soon seen by a dealership for service. I was informed by the service representative that this is a repeated issue brought to their attention for this make & model, with a consistent trend of these issues occurring after the powertrain control module was reprogrammed as part of an update. The powertrain module was again reprogrammed/flashed, and the issue has not repeated since the initial failure, though it is available for inspection.

I was driving in town going about 20 MPH when I approached and intersection and stepped on the brakes. The brakes locked up, multiple warning lights, messages, audible alarms went off. I though the truck died and I put it in park and turned off the key. Then I turned the key back on, all the lights and warnings came back on, but it also said ready to drive. I was not able to accelerate using the gas pedal, truck was moving slowly on its own, it gained some speed but only ran on the electric motor. No gas engine. I got 3 blocks to my destination very slowly and shut the truck off. I had to go inside to do some work and when I came back about an hour later I turned the truck on and all the alerts were gone except the check engine light. It did run normal then. After calling the dealership they said to bring it in so they could look at it. I left it there and they called later saying they had pulled multiple error codes, did not tell me what they were, they cleared all the codes and drove it and said it did not act up for them and said I could come pick it up. I do not want to drive it because I feel like this could happen again at any time and if I were driving at a higher speed or on a interstate and this happened who knows who could have been hurt. This Maverick is my daily driver for work ect. but I will not drive it unless I absolutely have to right now. I got no answers from the dealership. Before this, no warning lights had been on.

When coming to a stop on a 25 mph road, saw a cascade of warnings come up, including: Hill start assist not available, precollision assist not available, service AdvanceTrac, service vehicle soon, check engine light, service light, traction control light. Once stopped the car turned the parking brake on and requested that I put it into park. After putting the car into park and turning off the parking brake the car began to accerate on it's own, unresponsive to how hard I pressed the accelerator (limp mode?). I was able to get the car back home on residential roads.

2022 Maverick shuts down without warning. Driving at highway speeds, 65mph, the car simply loses all power. This started happening after factory recall work was completed on 3-11-24. I have stranded 7 times on the shoulder.

While traveling on the highway at approximately 75mph the instrument cluster began to flash warnings, (Selected gear will be changed to when speed slows down, precollision assist not available, service engine soon) the accelerator pedal was unresponsive, and the vehicle began to slow. I parked the vehicle, shut the engine off, and restarted. upon restarting the vehicle would only move at approximately 10mph, the accelerator pedal was still unresponsive. I then parked the vehicle and called for a tow truck to take the vehicle to the dealership.

Had recall updates completed 3-11-24. ..23C41, 24C01, 23E09, 23E07 3-12-24 Maverick dies on the interstate going around 65mph. It just stopped running. I was able to pull over and after waiting several minutes was able to continue driving with the check engine light on. Took it back to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong. It has happened 2 more times dyeing at 65mph. 3-13-24 and 3-19-24

After having two recalls done on 2/29 the next day my vehicle dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. There was a message about low gear, the shifter was blinking, I lost collision assist, traction control, and something called bill start. I was able to pull over and shut it off. When I restarted a minute later it accelerated on its own with no input from me. Braking worked but it was slowly moving up in speed.

Today I was driving on the highway when the precollision alert came on with no vehicles in front of me. About 5 minutes later I received a series of error messages and the vehicle went into a limo mode where it automatically drove at 20 MPH with no accelerator input from the driver. The following errors popped up on my screen. Check engine light Power train light (wrench)/reduced power Brake light pre-collision light/pre-collision unavailable Hill assist message Will engage in gear selected at low speed. Pulled over, shut it off, turned it back on, put in drive and it started accelerating on its own but only up to about 20mph, stopped and shut it off again. Turned back on and all the messages and light disappeared except check engine light remained on.

This Hybrid XLT maverick is equipped with Auto Brake/Stop while the vehicle is at a stop sign or red light. Two times the vehicle moved forward when the car in the front took their foot off from the brake pedal. The maverick was in full electric mode while Auto Engine Stop was activated and while the other vehicle moved forward, the maverick's Hybrid system switched to regular gas power and moved forward. Onetime the maverick give me the forward collision warning and the other time it didn't and my number plate touched the other car's bumper before i could manually brake the vehicle.

Was going about 20 in a residential setting with nobody around and the truck locked the brakes and forward collision warning started flashing on the screen. It was pretty scary seeing there was nothing to hit.

Brakes: ford already issued a TSB but this is more recall level issue (22-2493). At low speeds the breaks as applied so not work and then eventually “wake up” and grab hard due to the operator having to press much harder on the brakes to engage. This is not safe and should be a full recall with an investigation. There are many threads that discuss this on the internet, I am also experiencing it. It’s a matter of time before someone gets rearended because the Maverick brakes don’t work at low speeds well. Separately, flashing lights from the sun through the trees triggered a early collision warning for me once which I thought was odd. The cause is a guess but there were not other cars in front of me.

This is a hybrid braking issue where an extreme loud 'clunk' noise which can be felt coming from under the car at low speed less than 10 miles an hour when braking the car. In addition, the brakes seem to not engage properly at stop and go traffic forcing driver to stomp on the brakes to make the car stop. The brakes sometimes won't release after stopping forcing the driver to hit the throttle where the car suddenly lunges forward after the sudden release of the brakes. The Forward Collision warning also comes on unexpectedly without having another car in front of me. Happened twice since ownership of the car. Seems to be common in cold weather.

While driving in traffic on the highway at about 20-30 mph, traffic in my lane slowed further. In response, I applied what should have been an adequate amount of brake pressure to slow down and stop if needed given the following distance I had left. Initially I progressively applying more braking pressure, but after a ~3 seconds of this I slammed the brake down. Instead, the vehicle did not slow as expected in the following ~5 seconds. Despite having slammed on the brake at that point, the vehicle only then showed the emergency braking alert and emergency braked in addition to my foot being fully down on the brake. However, this was too late as my passenger and I rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma. They and myself have filed against my insurance, so there is an accident on my car report that I know has depreciated my new vehicle’s value. Although I do not currently have the Toyota’s estimate, I believe I can ask the owner or my insurance for this. Previously, I had several rear-ending close calls in the car when in traffic and I knew that I often struggled to slow down at stop lights when they first turn yellow. As a result, I’ve often sped up to beat the red since I knew my vehicle struggles to brake in time. My car is currently being repaired by the closest dealership to my SO, but I no longer trust the vehicle. I believe my hybrid maverick does not adequately mechanically brake since it over relies on the weaker regenerative braking. The dealer has attempted to replicate the issue at this point but my vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. I am happy to answer any additional questions.

Maverick Hybrid brakes are inconsistent. Sometimes you can brake smoothly, sometimes you cannot and the brakes will grab suddenly and lurch. Using Adaptive Cruise is miserable because the truck lurches back and forth and feels like it can't transition between friction and regenerative braking. There are no warnings on dash, truck has 1,000 miles. It is dangerous because getting more braking force than you anticipated can lead to being rear ended and not getting the brake force you anticipate can cause you to rear-end someone else.

When driving at slow speeds the brakes seem to have a “dead space”. The brakes slowly engage, don’t engage at all (hence dead space) then abruptly stop the vehicle. There is also a loud clunk associated with it. On one occasion the brakes would not engage at all causing me to nearly hit the vehicle in front of me. I had to pump the brake in order to stop abruptly, creating a dangerous situation. I took it to one ford dealer who claimed they couldn’t replicate the issue. The following week I took it to another in which they were able to replicate it however advised the can’t seem to find anything wrong with the system to be able to fix it.

(2.5L Hybrid) The brakes are not consistent at low speeds - (i.e. when creeping up in traffic). The physical brakes often fail to react to any driver input for several seconds or until brake pressure is increased significantly. There was recently an event when the adaptive cruise control was activated in stop-and-go traffic where traffic ahead moved up slightly, but the vehicle failed to slow to a stop until the driver intervened. A red warning message popped up, but was not able to be read before disappearing, and adaptive cruise control was unavailable until the next ignition cycle. There is a high risk of a low speed accident with the way the brakes are currently calibrated.

When I shift into drive gear it hesitates to go until it kicks into the battery drive mode. When I am at a stop sign you can feel it switching over and when I go to push on the gas to go from the stop sign it doesn't go immediately until it shifts to the electric mode. When I am in a drive thru and it switching from electric to gas mode it jerks like the transmission is going to fall out
