Significant shaking in the front end during acceleration due to CV axle failure

Jul 16, 2025

While driving on onramp to the interstate the engine shut down and warning came on pull over now. All power was lost. The APP showed power train fuel control module could not connect. I tried to restart but had no power. On 6/16/2025 I took the vehicle in for repair (could not get appointment). It was returned (could not duplicate problem). On my way home it happened again engine lost power while driving. The vehicle was brought back to Ford. This time it was returned 6/25/2025.

At approximately 10 pm driving on the interstate at approximately 65 mph, I was attempting to accelerate to 70 mph and my speedometer was decreasing in speed even though I had my foot on the accelerator. I had to pull off to the side of the interstate that has a very narrow shoulder. My car was not able to accelerate. I had to turn it off and turn it back on and then it appeared to work as usual. This has happened twice now. I took it into the dealership to have it fixed and they said they updated the control module unit and replaced my battery due to other issues I’ve been having with the car. No warning lights came on, and the car still appeared to be on and in drive when the incident occurred. The component has been inspected and the dealership said they repaired the issue, which was not the case, due to the same thing reoccurring approximately 10 days after the “repair” was made.

Repeated failures of accessory battery resulting in powertrain failures. One incident disabled the response of the accelerator. Acceleration was only achieved by releasing the brake pedal and the vehicle slowly accelerated up to approx 35 mph. Battery has been replaced/repaired by dealer 4 times already, with a 5th pending shortly. Accessing the battery to jump start the vehicle requires lifting the back seat, including detaching car seat installed in the rear of the vehicle.

On April 5th, 2025 I was driving about 20-30 mph and braking down a slight hill. When I went to accelerate up the other side of the hill the vehicle would not accelerate while pushing on the throttle. There were no check engine lights or errors while the vehicle would not accelerate. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. Upon restarting the vehicle it appeared to function normally and continued driving for about an hour home. I have not reported the incident to Ford or the dealer.

Transmission leak that goes undetectable due to the shield underneath the vehicle, catching any leakage. Failure to detect the leak cause case the vehicle to fail to drive or not operate properly. (Vehicle has been repaired now)

Apr 2, 2025

The vehicle is 9 month old with less than 12,000 miles. Factory battery repeatedly entered "deep sleep" mode, disabling vehicle remote features and failed to start the engine. Battery test showed sulfation and can no longer function as designed.

Concerning 2024 Ford Maverick hybrid pickup. Vehicle has had a sudden loss of power and loss of acceleration at highway speeds on four different dates between December 2024 and late January 2025. Took to local Ford dealer service [XXX] There were no vehicle health alerts or diagnostic trouble alerts. Service advisor searched manufacturer database found no information related to problem, and to call and bring vehicle in again if it reoccurred. Safety of passenger and self endangered due to sudden power and acceleration losses. On 3/4 incidents I was able to pull over to shoulder and engage emergency flashers. On two of these occasions vehicles close behind mine had to quickly engage their brakes to avoid collisions, and one following vehicle also had to make an emergency move to swerve away from my vehicle and avoid collision. On fourth episode there was a very near miss of collision - six following vehicles had to emergency brake to avoid a multi vehicle collision at highway speed. Problem could not be reproduced by dealer service center. The vehicle was inspected by dealer service tech on [XXX] as noted above. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of problem prior to the failures that I was aware of. However, since my focus was on quickly and safely reacting to get the vehicle off the road and avoiding collisions there may have been warnings or symptoms I was unaware of. The speedometer needle went down and the accelerator was completely unresponsive when I depressed the gas pedal. I called local dealer service again on [XXX] after reading several reports online of the same or very similar incidents that occurred in earlier model years of Ford Maverick and other models sharing same or similar platform or components. Dealer reset or updated PCM and BCM software. [XXX] … INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Shortly after starting the vehicle and stopping at a stop light after driving approximately 50 yards, the vehicle jerks, feels like engine/drivetrain is shuddering, and attempts to lurch forward. To stop it I have to apply additonal pressure to the brakes. This has occurred 4 times that I detected after driving on a daily basis since 12/20/24 (when vehicle was purchased) and today 01/01/25. I have not contacted the dealership about this issue yet. There have been no warning lamps, messages or other related symptoms that I have detected.

CV axle joint near engine failed and leaked grease out of joint. Axle is damaged but still drive able until replacement part comes in on 1/31/25. This is a FWD hybrid.

Dec 24, 2024

When stopped in drive with brakes applied, the vehicle will lurch forward without me releasing the brakes. This is not an intermittent issue - it happens constantly. This is obviously a safety issue and many other owners have reported the same issue on several forums.

Dec 17, 2024

lost acceleration function on freeway, no error code or warning sound. I didn't lose power just wasn't able to accelerate had to pull over and restart engine for the problem to go away.

Dec 9, 2024

Car battery died. When jumped, it then started up. However, upon getting onto the street - only the hybrid battery would engage (not the combustion engine). Thus, my speed was limited to ~10 miles per hour and this made the drive very unsafe.

2024 Ford Maverick bought from Sames Ford Mcallen shut itself off completely mid road and wasn't able to shift to neatrul to move from harms way. Several errors show powertrain error detected a fault with the high voltage system

Driving on Baltimore's 695 outer loop traveling south at apx 65-75 mph in the left lane, the truck flashed a warning"stop safely now" all vehicle powertrain was disabled and I, while decelerating uncontrolled, pulled across 4 lanes to a median and waited roadside 3+ hours before ford's roadside collected the truck.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 20 MPH and the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with battery failure. The battery was replaced. The contact stated shortly after the battery replacement, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and diagnosed with PCM failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

Mileage: 13,000

[XXX] , at 75 MPH, the engine quit running. Had to pull over into the left shoulder as the construction on the freeway prevented any other movement. After the truck stopped, I turned off the key and then restarted it. No other problem like this have occurred since (3Months). There were no warning signs or warning lamps. Feel free to inspect. Truck has not been inspected. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On [XXX], I was traveling from Georgia to California in a 2024 Ford Maverick XLT 2.5L Hybrid with approximately 219 miles on the odometer, using cruise control set at 73 mph and in the ECO mode. I'd stopped for gas and upon returning to the highway [XXX]) the vehicle, still using cruise and in ECO mode, experienced an extreme reduction in power and the check engine light illuminated. I pulled over to the shoulder and shut down the engine; restarted the engine and tried to resume driving while changing to normal mode and not using cruise control. The check engine lights was still illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate and could only travel at about 30 mph. Pulled off the highway at the next exit and had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealership in Birmingham AL. At the dealership, I informed the service advisor about the check engine light and that the Ford app indicated a problem with the high voltage battery coolant pump. During the initial troubleshoot, the mechanic relayed to me the following three potential faults: the high voltage battery cooling pump, a pump in the transmission, and a fault with the battery electronic control module (BECM). The two pumps were replaced and the BECM fault cleared, see attached service invoice. I picked up the vehicle on [XXX] and drove back to Georgia without issue. The odometer currently indicates 869 miles with no issues. Since the vehicle had limited power and was unable to accelerate, especially on an interstate, I consider this type of failure a safety issue.
