After a little over 3 years, my truck has had issues maintaining its 12v battery putting me at risk of being stranded. The battery was replaced once under warranty. Now that I am out of warranty, the replacement battery is now going bad.

Dec 9, 2025

Battery in the passenger compartment is charging at 15.2 volts constantly. Ford dealer claims this is not a problem, but the battery life has been shortened, and the battery model number states it should be charged between 13.8 and 14.2 volts. The battery is located under the rear seat, inside the passenger compartment. From my limited understanding of battery technology, over-charging can produce hydrogen into the passenger compartment. My vehicle is now on the third battery, and has only 73,511 miles.

2022 Ford Maverick had water build up under the front passenger seat floor. I'm at 3.5 years of ownership and the dealer is telling me it will cost $1100 to fix because of an improperly installed windshield and cowl issue which ruined the internal filter and air circulation motor. Now i have to pay out of pocket because of a crappy manufacturer defect. I have seen in Maverick forums that this is a common issue and yet we are the ones having to fork out the cash.

At a intersection turning lane as I got a green arrow, ( as I pushed down on accelerator)a loud pop sounded and all vehicle operations stopped immediately. The battery had popped in the top front side, with battery liquid all over battery. No hazard lights, no putting into gear, only driver door operational at a very busy intersection. Flagging traffic and trying to call for new battery, very tough. Plant city Florida police arrived 20 minutes later. They waited with me until 40 minutes a battery arrived. I cleaned up acid with towel I had in front and tech changed battery. [THIS INCIDENT [XXX]- intersection [XXX] ] I can't express th [XXX] ot changing every battery thats compromised is beyond crazy. I paid $385 for the battery and spent $10 thousand of my life in that intersection. Fords are a lifetime of Dad's/my Family vehicle purchase history and I wish I had some of Ford Brass in the intersection with me. If they think they have a problem, I can guarantee it. Bartow Ford can't do anything because ( its Ford problem/remedy. I was discouraged they didn't say bring it in, but my buying any future product may be my remedy. Their were no warning lights, no smells from engine, no signs of any whisps of smoke coming up from hood. All I can finish with is when it happens, your out of business completely, where ever your at. The tech took the battery and I didn't take a picture because getting out of traffic was No.1. You can't sit inside and read your manual, with no emergency hazards at a busy intersection. You won't get this adrenaline rush/anxiety on a Universal thrill ride. You have a good chance of being hit by one or more vehicles on the inside or outside. The radio head unit often is unresponsive. Needs to be reset multiple times a week. Volume will either not work or no sound at all. Screen freezes and pops. Music cuts out. Skip button from steering wheel does not work sometimes. All operations on the touch screen are slow and laggy. Has had this problem since owning the vehicle.

Jan 19, 2025

The vehicle constantly goes into deep sleep mode and will not start. Battery was tested good at the dealer but would die after 2 hours of sitting. Battery was replaced with an AGM and still has the same issues. Dealer cant find an issue. Happened again today and left me stranded.

The service engine light turned on. Observed the outside temperature displayed was incorrect at 189 degrees in the winter. The heat stopped working and front window defroster stopped working.

CV axles make a very concerning, loud noise when driving. Any small bump on the road and it sounds like the front of my truck is going to fall off. When turning, there are loud knocking and clicking sounds coming from the front end, mainly passenger side. Electrical: My radio and head unit restarts randomly, both while driving and when the vehicle is turned off with keys removed from ignition. When it restarts, I hear a popping noise from the speakers, and the screen blacks out.

Oct 21, 2024

This morning before my drive to work, a service vehicle soon message popped up on the screen. During my drive to work the vehicle began to respond sluggishly and lose power and acceleration on the highway. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk and the vehicle was unable to maintain highway speeds. I was able to make it to work driving at reduced speeds, and after parking the vehicle received a message on my Ford App of a Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power alert. My vehicle was serviced by Ford on 06/20/2024 for a recall related to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Oct 12, 2024

My license plate light has stopped working. It was replaced and still isn’t working. This reduces visibility and increases risk of a crash. This is in addition to the legal requirement to have an operating license plate light.

I was driving on the freeway driving eastbound on 152 and I switch to the fast lane to pass a vehicle and the throttle stopped working, the truck lost speed and the truck turned off, a message popped on the screen saying that I needed to put it in park. I put it in park put the hazards on and attempt to restart it and it would crank but wouldn’t start. I did this until the allowed amount of times reached its limit. I attempted to put the gear in neutral but the knob was stuck. The truck was at a slight angle as I was going uphill and couldn’t get it to move. I find the release lever to make it neutral and it didn’t work but now that lever got stuck all this is going on while the traffic is at is heaviest. The truck stalled until 2 hrs later when a tow truck came to pick it up. I got dropped off at a safe location and the truck turned on and would shift into gear but it sounded bad. Info screen says something about not being able to park and the key is stuck on the truck still.

I was driving back home from errands and during a stop, the entire car suddenly powered off and became unresponsive. I couldn’t even flash my hazards and was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection. Also couldn’t put it in neutral since the gear shifter is electronically powered. Some bystanders tried to jump my car, but it took 6 solid tries before they could restore power. I drove it another 1000 ft, trying to head to a service center and this time it completely powered off while in motion. I had to fight with the steering wheel to pull it to the shoulder as the power steering went out and the car started making clicking noises. The entire car was completely dead, once again. A tow truck diagnosed the battery as still healthy and suspects a deeper electrical fault with the car. It has been towed to the dealer for service under warranty, but I am reading that I am not the only one with this issue. A lot of folks are getting battery swaps and having the issue recur later. Could this be a wiring harness fault, or a much more pervasive electrical issue? The entire episode was terrifying, and I could have gotten into a major accident if this was on a busier road.

This vehicle was purchased in 2021 with a 3 year 36k mile warranty. At 39k miles the truck has started to shut off randomly while driving. It has put us in very dangerous situations and it happens multiple times every day. The vehicle will be driving down the road and suddenly shut off. It will not switch to neutral so cannot be pulled off the road. It will not turn on for at least 20 minutes so we get stuck in the middle of the road. Sometimes it will turn back on but other times it has to be jumped. Ford is telling us that any repairs will not be covered because this brand new car is out of warranty.

I pulled my 2022 Maverick into my parking spot at work and everything went dead. I had to use my key to open my tailgate. The tow service jumped the battery and it started, however, when they went to take it off the tow truck at the Ford dealership, it had to be jump started again. I was told the battery was bad and they changed it. The vehicle worked fine for three days and on the morning of the fourth day I had difficulty starting the vehicle. The first three times I turned the key all I heard was clicking and it started on the fourth try. I then drove it straight to the dealership where it has been for the past 8 days.

I know there are issues with the Hybrid versions, but this one is not a hybrid. I have had the battery die 4 separate times resulting in me being stranded due to no fault of my own. This Ford Maverick was purchased through the Military Auto Sales at Ramstein AB Germany. It is US-spec and owned/operated by a US Military member stationed overseas. The first time it happened at the Frankfurt airport after owning it for a week and driving it from the Port of Bremerhaven (port of entry). Once I got it jumped and back to Ramstein I did not have an issue for 3 weeks. It died after sitting for three days over New Years. I jumped it and drove it around for over an hour to charge the battery. I then left it for a few days to see if it occurred again. One week later it died. I then jumped it and drove it around again to charge the battery. At this point I suspected the Ford Pass Connect, bluetooth or wifi to be the cause so I turned all of those off. After going on a work trip for a week I came back to discover it was dead again. Something is wrong with teh battery or electrical system. It should automatically go to a deep sleep mode if lower voltage is detected. I don't know what is running (it is not something the driver selected) but it is killing the battery. The last time my Duracell jump pack registered an error and could not jump it. This is a serious defect that can leave people stranded without warning.

Since the date of purchase (10/29/21) I am unable to change/set FM stations. Apps (ie: iHeart, Spotify) and voice command work intermittently. Apps will not work unless phone is plugged in. 911 assist will not work if not paired and connected to a Bluetooth enabled and compatible cell phone (see pg. 59 2022 Maverick owner’s manual). Unsure if lane keeping assistance is working properly. Vehicle was brought to Sam Galloway Ford on 10/30/21. Per Sam Galloway Ford: “Ford is aware of these problems. It is a ‘hardware’ issue.”
