While charging my electric vehicle with this Enel X JuiceBox 40 charger, a burning plastic smell was noted. Upon examining the Enel X charger plug that was attached to my home's NEMA 14-50, it appeared partially melted and very to touch. Using a towel, the plug was removed and a small fire and sparks flew out of the NEMA outlet. The right half of the outlet's plastic shell was melted and the inner metal was charred. Same charring and melting was noted on the corresponding side of the Enel X plug. I turned the circuit breaker off and the sparks and fire subsided. Model of JuiceBox: 2JBO401RNA-PJWX-300
Car stalled once while going to a military appt but started up 3 mins later. Car then made a noise then stalled out of nowhere on the highway at a slow speed in heavy traffic causing anxiety. vehicle then had me stranded waiting for a tow to find out it’s the HVJB .
On [XXX], my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN [XXX] ) experienced a complete electrical failure related to its V12 battery system. The vehicle required roadside assistance twice during the same service call — first to jump the car to release the hood latch and again to restore enough power to unlock the doors. An elderly occupant was trapped inside until power was restored. After exiting, she became light-headed and fell; EMS responded and transported her to the hospital. This represents a serious safety defect because total electrical shutdown prevented door operation and normal egress. I am requesting investigation and possible recall review. only incident I have had is that the dealership cannot fix the recall yet its been a week and still have not recieved anything ,or a loaner or a rental. I am in the military active duty and havent had anything

Car gave me a warning to bring car to dealer, who told me I need to replace the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. This part was recalled on other models, but not my specific model, despite the cars using the same part. Dealer said it will cost $3,593 to replace and Ford customer service says there is no recall for it. Also, I intermittenly have gotten a warning that the front camera will not work for forward collision warning or cruise control. It often happens after a bump in the road, but also happens at other random times.
My 12-volt battery died and due to my car being an Electric Vehicle there was no way for me to get inside my car without jumper cables. The safety concern was that it happened without noticed when i stepped out the car to get my [XXX] out of the back seat. Completely locking me out the car and no way to get inside. The car doesn’t have a conventional door handle and cannot open without electricity. I had to have emergency services come and break into the car. Some of the driver assistance warning systems may not be operable due to multiple and frequent warning messages. Messages are: Front Camera Fault Service Required; Pre-Collision Assist Not Available; Lane Keeping System Fault Service Required. Ford is unable to correct these making it potentially unsafe. Additionally, they are not covering the attempt to fix this under the extended warranty. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of owners of the same model and year of my car, and subsequent years as well, having this issue with no resolution. There needs to be a recall.

Melted High Volt Junction Box after DC Fast Charging. Car became compromised while 3 hours from home. Limiting speed and ability to recharge. This vehicle had the High Voltage Junction Box melt back in the summer of 2022. The original was replaced under Warranty. The replacement part they installed is also faulty. I do not DC Fast charge very often. Maybe 12 times in the lifespan of this car. The original recall for this issue was a Software upgrade in the summer of 2022. There appears to have been a recall for hardware in fall of 2023 but for some reason this car was not part of that recall. The part that Ford installed in July of 2022 has since been redesigned several times, but I was left with the old version and that Melted down. Please recall the faulty HVJB part installed in these cars that were impacted when the originals melted. This costs $3,000 to have them repair and is not covered by warranty any longer.
The car was parked and will not move. The car turns on, an alert displays that to stop the car and pull over and the car is in park and will not allow you to move the dial out of park. Had to have the car towed to dealership. The 12v battery was replaced, this did not help, the car still will not allow you to put it in drive.
The electrical system failed. Issue was it disengaged the 12 volt system as well. Vehicle seized and stopped in the middle of a high usage road with no ability to put into neutral. After speaking with Ford, they concede that there must be 12 volt battery power in order to put car in neutral. After 2 hours of blocking traffic The tow truck arrived ( was a rainy day) and within a minute hooked up a 12 volt battery and drove the vehicle off the road way. This is not acceptable and needs to be addressed. My claim number with Ford is: case [XXX]. Thank you. Feel free to contact me in any further information is needed. My vehicle is not a part of the Recall #23S56, however, my High Voltage Battery Junction Box has gone back and in need of replacement. The warranty light appeared on 2/2/25 after acceleration. I was able to make an appointment with my local Ford Dealership for today 2/4/25 and was informed of the issue.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the "Stop Safely Now” message was displayed. There was a RED warning light illuminated. While the vehicle was being charged, the Ford app showed a charge fault error. The vehicle was undriveable. While using a diagnostic tool, it showed there was a failure with the BCM and DTC: P0AA2 and P0D10 were retrieved. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 19,000.

My cameras will not work and the screen will be black. Anytime I reverse or come too close to an object the cameras will show, but since there is a problem with the camera wire the image is just a black screen. This is a serious safety issue that Ford has yet to address and I have notified them about it, with an image and video of the problem.
The forward collision detection system failed first. Then the car suddenly would not move and gave a pull over immediately warning on the dash and also flashed a battery light. It was 15 degrees outside and my wife and son were stuck in the cold. Not a safe environment. This is inexcusable for a car to be driving fine on minute and to be completely inoperative the next.
The car had an issue with the 12V battery which caused it to be completely disabled and unresponsive to the key fob and phone as a key. My wife had gotten out of the car without knowing this had happened and went to the rear door to let out our infant son, but the door would not open. We called emergency services and roadside assistance. AAA arrived first and tried to open the lock but were unsuccessful. I had to smash the window to open the door and rescue my son. Emergency services arrived after I had already done this. The only reason I know it was an issue with the 12V battery is because the Ford dealership told me after I had the car towed there for inspection. The only way to open the car in this situation is to use a portable jumper to jump two wires hidden in the bumper which open the Frunk. Then you need to jump the actual battery that is located in the frunk. It does not have a mechanical release for the doors. This supposed fix is highly dangerous as it requires one to have a readily available jumper and the 12V battery needs to be completely drained in this scenario. In my case, this didn’t work even when the Ford technician arrived. The only possible way to get in was to break through a laminated glass window which was incredibly difficult to break even with the correct tool to do it.
It has several error messages including "Stop safely now". This seems to be the same issue as recall 23S56 (TSB 22-2178). The vehicle is not drivable as it will not start or go into gear. Seems to be known issue with the HVBJB.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the messages "Power Train Malfunction - Reduced Power", "High Voltage Battery Warning", and another message to “Stop the vehicle as soon as possible because the vehicle may shut down without further warning” were displayed. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving at 35 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

Front Camera Fault & Pre-Collision Assist Not Available Errors COLLISION WARN MALFUNCTION, COLLISION WARN NOT AVAILABLE or COLLISION WARN DISPLAY FAULT. Over 30k miles in the car so the warranty is over for bumper to bumper coverage. Dealer said an update would fix the issue. It cost 2k. Paid. The error came back within a day. Dealer says the next option is to replace all the wiring for the cameras. Which would be another 2-3k.
For over a year I got this warning that said pre collision assist not available. And it would go away after a few minutes. A few weeks ago it never left. Now I have that error as well as adaptive cruise not available. I cannot use my cruise control. I just recently had another issue and paid over 3 thousand. Now ford wants to give me another quote for 3 thousand. I searched and I'm not the only one with issue. This should he a recall problem as we are all having same issue.
Front camera stopped working after a long period of working intermittently (started to happen after passing warranty at 30,000 miles). Without that camera many safety features are disabled, like a front collision warning, lane departure, cruise control with adoptive speed, emergency breaking. The cable and processor issue was confirmed by Ford dealership service.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the cruise control had inadvertently been engaged, causing the vehicle to accelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Received intermittent warnings that the front collision warning system, cruise control and front camera were not working. The problem I think began after having my roof/windshield removed/reglued under recall. It was intermittent and I could not tell if software updates were resolving the problem, but then the problem became permanent at which time my car was out of warranty. Which does not seem fair since the problem began during the warranty period,. likely as a result of the windshield recall.
Forward camera failure, will not reset, continues to come up since 2021 multiple times this vehicle has been in the shop for this repair now that the warranty is over it is not covered and is not getting fixed I cannot use my cruise control and it continues to come up on the dash. This needs to be repaired and no one wants to fix it
Received a front camera fault warning in the car. The fault disables the safety feature of pre-collision-collision assist. Had an independent service center check it out, they let me know there is a TSB from ford. Waiting for the a scheduled appointment.
While driving I get a camera alert and a collision avoidance system is not working. Then I have to reset the system by pushing a button on the steering wheel. The car has been in for this problem 3 times since 2022 .Now the 3 year warranty is up and Ford won’t cover the repair. May dealership has been dealing with this issue on a lot of cars. I filed a lemon law suit. They are not going to repair the car or by it back. They to want to give a couple of thousand. But nobody can tell me what the cost will be to fix the car. So I am at a standstill
The instrument panel center display fell out of the housing today. Keep in mind this display controls things like all HVAC, defrosting, audio, rear cross traffic camera, and is the sole access to the front trunk (frunk). It looks like two seals on the top failed. When driving slightly inclined on a hill, it became detached and was dangling. This caused immediate distraction. The screen did not break. The screen fits back into the casing but there is no mechanism to attach it without complete permanent (ie superglue).
The fuse blew for the 12v power port (cigarette lighter type) in the back hatch area of our 2021 Mustang Mach E. We went to try and replace it. Couldn't find the fuse panel anywhere. Researched it online and discovered it was under plastic panels in the frunk. I didn't want to break a panel so I went to the local dealer. We removed 4 or 5 panels and finally found the fuse box but we still couldn't check or replace fuses. The fuse panel is mounted with the face with the fuses pointing away from you. There is a small panel you can open but this only exposes the back of the fuse box where the connectors are. The dealer couldn't do it either with casual help. They said I need to make an appointment for a technician to block some repair time to replace the blown fuse. This is a terrible safety problem. If a key fuse blows when a dealer technician isn't available, the car could be very unsafe with no way to remedy this. In 50 years of owning cars I've never seen one with a completely inaccessible fusebox. It is true of this car.
Driving in a 40mph zone and car suddenly lost all power followed by a message stop safetly now and the 12v battery icon. While coasting car lost power steering and upon stopping went into park and would not go into neutral for 30+ minutes
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front IPMA camera is faulty, not working. The dealership was able to diagnose it properly. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The camera fault means that the vehicle safety features for front collision assistance and anything else that uses the front camera will NOT work. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Bob Tomes Service center in Mckinney, TX has confirmed that the fault. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There are dashboard alerts for Front Camera Fault, and No Adapative Lane Assistance.
9 months ago I received a safety recall notice from Ford Motor Company regarding the Mustang Mach E battery terminals could possibly melt together at high speeds and that the car will lose power. Considering the severity of this issue I took it to a dealership right away where it sat unable to be fixed for over a month. They did not offer me a rental and having 2 kids and no car was devastating. I had to go pick the car back up without the recall being repaired and have had to use the vehicle in the meantime because I have no other option. I filed a case through the Ford BuyBack Program and was denied. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in hopes of a remedy or mediation with Ford and was also denied. I just called 3 dealerships this week after receiving a letter in the mail that the parts were available and all of them said they do not have those parts. Because of this unrepairable safety recall, the cars value has depreciated and I am upside down my 20,000$. I can't sell it or trade it in without getting another loan just to pay it off and I refuse to do that for their mistake. There has to be another way. I need help and I'm praying I can find it here. I'm paying 735$ a month for a new car scared to drive every day.
On April 19th, I picked up dinner and when I went to leave the parking lot, my vehicle turned on, but did not allow me to move out of park, nor shift into any other gear. I turned the vehicle on and off about ten times to see whether that might allow me to shift into another gear, but to no avail. It was later in the evening, so when I called the Ford customer service line I received an after hours message, and then thereafter I received a call from a Ford customer service center caller saying that they saw I was "stranded" and would send a tow truck to take the vehicle to the nearest Ford mechanic shop. They picked the vehicle up around 11pm in the evening. While the vehicle has had numerous other recalls, (windshield, etc.) I had not received any recall notice related to a battery issue. The dashboard showed a wrench in a car symbol as well as the battery symbol and a note that said "Stop safely now," and "full accessory power active." For the two and a half weeks following, I was not told what was wrong with the vehicle, nor was I provided a courtesy car. When I requested rental coverage, I was informed I would have to call "corporate" in order for them to cover the request, and when I did reach them, I was told that until they diagnosed the vehicle, they could not tell me whether it was my fault or theirs. After weeks of going back and forth, they agreed to cover a Ford rental (that I had to find on my own,) but have still not been given my vehicle as I have been informed that there are program wide software holds on the vehicle that prevent the technician from working on it. My lease ends in another month, and I have not been provided any information as to what my options are, or whether the vehicle will be fixed. I was also informed that I was not eligible for the Ford repurchase program as the vehicle is over the allotted 2 year/24K mile period, but I am extremely frustrated by the lack of care Ford has shown for my safety and ability to get around.
I had my MME in to the local Ford dealership for recent work concerning Ford Recall 23S56 (HVBJB). This work was completed along with numerous other software updates needed as indicated by dealership service department. Shortly after getting car back a "1Pedal Drive Fault - Press Brake Pedal To Reduce Speed" warning message was displayed on the instrument panel and the one pedal function quit working. This feature reset it self after the car was parked overnight. Yesterday while driving over many miles this same warning message appeared to happen again and the one pedal feature quit. This happened while vehicle was traveling in an active school zone very near a crosswalk being used by students. This could have been a very bad situation if not quickly going from one pedal braking to two pedal braking which is needed to stop the car.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
One pedal drive system failure. Had the 22B50 charge port recall done on the 18th of April 24. After leaving the dealer upon approach to a light one mile away, one pedal disengaged during de-acceleration for the light. Warning did come up near the same time. It felt like vehicle was accelerating, but just loss regen. It has since happened daily. sometimes multiple times. Restart the car and it works normal. The recall was to reprogram the BCCM according to the dealer.
On April 10, 2024, my vehicle experienced a warning message to service vehicle and a sudden loss of power while I was driving on the freeway. The issue was caused by a failure in my high voltage battery junction block. Something that Ford had already issued a software update vehicle to my vehicle for a recall. However clearly the software update was not an appropriate fix for the issue and should not be considered fulfillment of the recall. In fact, Ford has an open recall for the extended battery configuration of my vehicle to proactively replace this defective part. I am reporting this issue to the NHTSA because clearly the software ‘fix’ did not resolve the safety issue AND it’s scary that standard range batteries are neglected from the overall recall that applied to the rest of the model. Ford needs to be proactively addressing this issue for all affected model years, not just certain configurations. Frankly it is wild that the NHTSA accepted a software update as an appropriate recall fix for a hardware component overheating and melting while driving. It didn’t work and should not be considered a fix.
The 2021 Mustang Mach-E has repeatedly shown these "Pre-Collision Assist" and "Front Camera Fault" errors ever since we got it 6 months ago. The errors can come and go multiple times during any drive. For my wife it is just an annoyance since she never uses Adaptive Cruise. But for me or anyone else using Adaptive Cruise, it becomes a safety concern because this error suddenly cancels the cruise and being an EV it begins regenerative breaking and slowing down much faster than other drivers expect while its driver must react as quickly as possible to return to pedal control. It's my understanding that this is starting to happen on many modern Ford vehicles at around this age and dealership service centers have been given guidance on fixing it. Ours has been in for this service and the error is still occurring.
While getting my recalls repaired at the dealership, I warned them of an issue my car was having with its front camera. I was receiving a “Pre-Collision Assist Not Available” notification each time I started my car. Upon investigation, the issue was described to me by the repair technician as. an internal failure IPM-A module on the car. This results in pre-collision no longer working on the vehicle along with the car no longer being able to utilize cruise control. The car is unable to detect vehicles in front of it to warn of a possible collision.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair the recall. The contact was unable to start the vehicle. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was not able to do the repair the vehicle. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted and was unable to confirm when the parts would be available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,696. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I drove the car to work with no issues. I left work a little over 9 hours later. I was able to enter car without issues. Turned on car and didn’t notice any issues. My phone connected as usual via CarPlay and I navigated home. Leaving the work area is low speed, so I never exceeded 20 mph and just went by feeling, but once I was on a more open stretch of road, I noticed that the instrument cluster was frozen and the speed it was displaying felt too slow compared to how I felt I was going. In essence, I couldn’t tell how fast I was going. After closer examination (mind you I was driving while figuring this stuff out), I noticed that the instrument cluster would update once in say 10seconds or so (but it was variable). I tried to set cruise control to initiate blue cruise, but I couldn’t tell what speed cruise control was being set to due to this enormous lag. I also wasn’t sure if the system would also exhibit this lag. Finally, I noticed that even the lights indicator for the blinker would refresh very slowly but the audible “click” associated with the blinker was normal. The drive home was very distracted and painful due to this issue. I documented the behavior in a video if needed.

Twice in about a week my 12V battery has died without warning. The car is inoperable and there’s no way to open the car doors or even the trunk and front trunk. We’ve been locked out entirely. Left stranded in parking lots waiting for tow trucks. The only fix is jumping the vehicle’s 12V battery. If this happened while you’re in the vehicle you’d be stuck in the car since none of the accessory functions (including locks) function when this happens.

This is the second HVJB failure on my mustangs Mach e. I was told my last replacement was the upgraded unit. It last as long as my last one.
This is becoming a common occurrence with this vehicle. The power train/ front end collision sensor/ tire sensor/ air bay sensor/ drive train all malfunctioning. Ford refuses to help.
On October 15, 2023, with my EV battery charged at 69% and about 2 minutes after beginning my drive, I suddenly received a warning on the dashboard which stated "Stop Safely Now". Within 5 seconds, the vehicle would not accelerate and eventually came to a stop. The first episode of this occurred on Sunday, October 15. My car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX, where I purchased the car in March 2022. The vehicle was serviced by Gullo Ford's service department on October 16, 2023. The repair invoice references replacing the electronic parking brake harness connector and reprogramming the battery charge control module per recall on October 16. 2023. I picked the vehicle up from Gullo Ford on the afternoon of October 16. The car worked normally until Monday, October 30, 2023 when the same thing happened. About 2 minutes after starting and driving the car, I received the warning to "Stop Safely Now". The vehicle would not accelerate. My battery was charged over 70% when this occurred. The first time this happened on October 15, 2023, I was able to coast the car into a parking lot, out of traffic. On Monday, October 30, my car did not have enough speed to allow me to coast out of the flow of traffic which left me stranded in my car during rush hour, blocking one lane and the entry to a turn lane. This was a very unsafe circumstance as my car would not accelerate again, leaving me without a way to move out of the flow of traffic. Again, my car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX where it remains at this time. I do not feel safe driving a car which will stop accelerating with only a 5 second notice to "Stop Safely Now". I have no idea when this will happen leaving me stranded in the flow of traffic with no way to move.
Display gave warning - Service Vehicle soon and car did not start after being parked for about an hour. Outside temp was 65F. Car was driven about 400 miles that day including DCFC once. Had to be towed to dealership where it has sat for over 3 weeks with no repair and no information about what is wrong. I had someone familiar with the Ford system look up the codes who found that there was likely a problem with HVBJB that now is recalled. Not sure what to do anymore since dealership has car for 3 weeks now.
After using fast charger in Santa Rosa Ca, to 85% proceeded to freeway on ramp, getting on freeway on ramp, Message came up on screen "STOP SAFELY NOW" 2nd Message. "FULL ACCESSORY POWER ACTIVE. I pulled over to shoulder, unable to restart car. After getting started after 15-20 minutes again the same thing happen again 5 minutes later blocking lanes of traffic. Restarted after 25 minutes went to Ford dealership which was 1 mile away. Rented car and waited the next day till I called at 4;30 to see how car was and it was. The reason for incident from Ford technician was due to Erroneous network traffic caused the fault.??????? Needs to say I'm selling my MME 2021 I can't be stuck on freeway onramp or anywhere else, this is very unnerving to a [XXX] women and her 14 year old dog. while driving, the range on the electric battery went from 150 miles to only 64 miles in less than a minute. when i went to the DC fast charger it gave error and could not charge even after i verified that the fast charger was operational because the next car was able to charge car with no issue. after a while when i charged the car, it started charging but drastically reduced the battery range. i have attached the picture. at 78% it only gave me 76 miles range. usually at 78% it gives me a 180 miles or higher. took my car to the dealer to run diagnostics and dealer don't seem to agree to any battery issue.
Car gave me the high voltage fault that many Mach e owners have reported. Car is in the dealership now and I don’t have the car. Why weren’t these recalled?
Ford delivered the car with only one key FOB which was corrected in later builds of the car. To fix this they had a program where you could go to your dealer to get the second key FOB for free. I set up an appointment to go to the dealer and was reassured that even though the date was after the expiration of the program I would still get the second key for free. When I went in I was told this was untrue and every Ford representative has told me that even though I was lied to they would not fix things for free as it should be with the program. Eventually I was told to contact nhtsa about this issue. I currently have to use my phone as a key which has become increasingly unreliable requiring my backup code often to be entered into the car even when my phone is on and has the Fordpass app open to act like a key. This has caused issues with when I shift out of drive or reverse that it places itself in park asking for the backup code to be entered again before I can continue driving.
Forward collision warning constantly going on. Brought it for service and told them but still going on
I want to draw attention to a significant concern: U.S. auto safety regulators announced in August of this year that they are currently investigating whether Ford Motor's 2022 recall of nearly 49,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles comprehensively addressed the associated safety concerns. The basis for the 2022 recall was that the high voltage battery main contactors could overheat, particularly from DC fast-charging and repeated wide-open pedal events. This overheating presents a very real danger as it could result in an immediate loss of power, markedly increasing the risk of a vehicular accident. Furthermore, after the recall, Ford issued a technical service bulletin, directing the replacement of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box on the recalled vehicles. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has since opened a recall query. This action was prompted by 12 consumer complaints related to Mach-E vehicles that had supposedly received the necessary recall fixes. It is worth noting that the High Voltage Battery Junction Box has been replaced on my Mach-E already, and I am still facing problems. This is my third encounter with this particular safety issue.
We came out to our parked car and got a message that said Stop Safely Now. The vehicle would not shift into gear. The dealership had confirmed that the high voltage junction box has failed. We did not get the Service Vehicle Soon warning prior to the failure, despite having had the recall software update applied. The first sign of failure was a loss of motive power. This is a safety issue because loss of motive power while driving can result in loss of control of the vehicle. The loss of heating and cooling combined with the loss of motive power is also a significant safety risk if the failure occurs in a remote location experiencing extreme temperatures. The part has yet to be replaced, but I’m sure Ford will be retaining it for inspection.
Loss power, high voltage problem. On August 13 2023. On a road trip .
Pre collision assist and front camera malfunctions randomly. Dealer did a software update and has not resolved the issue. This happens at least once every time the vehicle is driven. It is out of warranty and will not be covered. This is a problem that plagues a significant amount of vehicles, I follow a mach-e group on social media and it’s a prominent issue. If you’re using blue cruise. The vehicle stops self driving abruptly.
The front camera system has failed. The cables need replacing, which was diagnosed by a Ford dealer. I have no collision assist, no cruise control, no lane keeping abilities, nothing that has to do with the camera in front. This is a known problem that Ford is not admitting to. All years of the Mach-E are having this issue, frequently. It has put myself and others on the road in danger by not being able to function as it should. Every time I turn the car on I get multiple warnings on the dash concerning these issues. This is not the only problem and safety issue I've had with this car in less than 9 months of owning it. Something must be done to hold Ford accountable.
It would appear that after the recall repair my car is experiencing problems that we’re supposed to be addressed with the recall. All systems are constantly malfunctioning.
The charging port on my Mach-E is failing. I am unable to change at the manufacture reported limit of 48 amps. If I try to charge my Mach-E at any rate higher than 32 amps, it will unexpectedly stop charging within 30 minutes, and only change the car 2% or 3% per charging session. Once I derate my EVSE to 32 amps, then my Mach-E can fully charge up to the 80% limit that I have set in the car within a single charge session. Several others have reported the same issue on the following forum post: [XXX] . It seems to be an issue with the temperature sensor in the charge port failing prematurely. I can confirm that the charging issue can occur outside of environmental factors like during a hot summer day. I usually charge during the late evening and at night, around 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and the car always stops charging within 30 minutes. I have even charged successfully at a public L2 charger during the day when the charging cord handle was in direct sun light, and was hot to the touch. So the failure seems directly related to the charge rate. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contacts that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only AFTER the damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contacts are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require removal of the part(s) which are KNOWN TO FAIL to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions unable to re-start my vehicle. I would like to see NHTSA strengthen the Ford recall to include both improved software AND removal/replacement of the HVBJB sub-assembly with the new 'beefier' parts.
I am filing this complaint regarding the potential failure of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. There have been many failures reported on the forums some experiencing multiple failures. Ford provided a software update that supposedly predicts an impending failure reducing available propulsion power. I do not feel comfortable driving a vehicle with a ticking time bomb. Losing propulsion power while driving at highway speeds could result in a serious safety senerio. I would like to see Ford provide a real fix.
Ford has installed a sub par HVBJB in my car which was manufactured in 12/01. In lieu of replacing the poorly designed unit they have added software that does not guarantee that the car will not brick. Numerous car have failed and I am afraid of having my wife drive the car at night for fear of it breaking down. This is a ticking time bomb.
Began to receive error messages stating "Front Camera Fault" and "Forward Collision Detection Fault". For a while it fixed on its own, then the messages started to become more and more frequent until now the error messages come up every time we turn on the car. With the malfunction that is happening with front camera and collision detection, it prevents cruise control from being used (which is adaptive) and forward collision warnings are not working/inactive. The lack of both of these systems presents a safety issue. The car has been taken to the local Ford dealership which has determined what needs to be replaced (the front camera and cables connecting the camera). However the parts must come from the Ford manufacturer and there is current no ETA that the dealership is being given for the parts to be delivered. When searching online for this issue, there are other owners that have experienced this and there is currently a TSB for this issue (TSB 23-2155).
I had my 2021 Mustang Mach-E updated with the recall software last year. In July of 2022, my High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) still failed, giving me a service vehicle soon and SEVERELY reducing power WHILE driving. I was on the freeway and my car just started reducing speed since I was trying to pass someone and I almost hit them. I received the new HVBJB from my dealer and had been fine since. Then a couple of weeks ago, I received the errors AGAIN with this "new and improved" HVBJB that Ford said is more robust and not supposed to fail. Same thing, on the same freeway I commute (73 toll road in California). I was passing someone and the car hit me with all these errors and SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my power. Like 66% reduction. I had to get back into my lane and was able to get back a safe speed but you basically have no power to pass. This is unacceptable. I received the "new" part and yet get a failure AGAIN? On a normal commute, not at the track, accelerating to show off the EV acceleration, just DRIVING! Please make them fix this for real. My dealer said there was a new bulletin that came out after my first repair that has an updated part number, but it is not a true revised part, meaning the internals are actually differnt, it is more a housekeeping part number update due to something as simple as the sticker being in a different spot, some backend thing, etc. There has been no revision to the components that fail since they "fixed" the part back in 2022.
On Friday 8/18/23 I was driving down a major freeway and my Mach-E jolted violently. I then received a "Stop Safely Now" and "Service Vehicle Soon" message. The vehicle lost all power at this time. Being on a very busy freeway my safety was at risk and I was luckily able to coast over to the right shoulder. The car refused to "start" after pulling over however the 12v battery did work so I was able to use accessories. Once towed to the dealer I was able to confirm a P0AA2 TSB code that indicated that a conductor was stuck open on the high voltage junction box. This was supposed to be fixed by a previous recall software update that FORD uploaded to my car however that was not the case. I am now without a car for 2 weeks but more importantly I am concerned for the safety of other Mach-E drivers as I am reading that this can happen again even after a hardware fix.
After receiving the remedy to NHTSA campaign 22V-412 on Aug 5, 2022 via a Ford Power-Up over-the-air update, my high-voltage battery contactors still overheated and failed on Oct 25, 2022, requiring warrantied replacement by my Ford dealer on Oct 27, 2022.
This is the second time they have to replace the HVBJB on my car . First time was on 9/2022 and now again on 8/16/2023. the car is in the shop for the same issue.
Powertrain failure- reduced/loss of power High voltage battery warning- unsafe to drive
Dealership said no remedy won't fix car but has recall. But when purchased nothing wrong wug car.. everything changed and the whole world is talking in my head saying weird stuff and stealing all my money and the devil acting weird and life just I go through so much and I list nand confused wtf us gong on
I was driving on the highway (12) in Mandeville, Louisiana and the car (a 2021 all electric Mustang Mach E with only 13k miles) flashed a 'Stop care safely now' sign and then proceeded to power down within 3 seconds of the message. I exited (luckily I was at my exit) and felt the car lose power on the exit ramp. Three signals came up (battery - yet I was at 100% - then a turtle mode and not sure what the third symbol was) and then the car locked up - went into park, would not move or allow me to put into neutral to pull off a very busy highway ramp. I was forced to a dead stop on the ramp (very dangerous). I put on my hazard lights but cars still pilled up all around me, beeping etc. at high rates of speed. I called 911 and the police came out (took about 10 minutes during which time I had to direct traffic around me - again very dangerous) and asked that I move the car but the car would not move or even go into neutral. A DOTD tow truck towed me to a nearby Winn Dixie and then the roadside assistance towed to the Ford Dealer. The Ford Pass app send me the message attached below that said it was forcing a software update and the car would not be able to be used during this update - while the car was in drive and while I was driving it down a four lane highway! Very unsafe considering the car was connected to WIFI at home and that update could have been done at any time - not while driving. There was no notice prior to this that a software update was needed and we have it set for updates to happen at 1 am. The car relies upon software (not firmware) to run and if that fails, the car just locks up. This car should be recalled. I am lucky no one was injured including me trying to direct traffic on a busy high speed highway ramp. The policeman was very frustrated and made me get out of the car. Then the DOTD driver confirmed it would not budge. Thank God this didn't happen while I was in the middle of a 4 lane highway. It would have been like stopping on a train track.
Erratic behavior when semi-autonomous Blue Cruise engaged. Fault may be due to failures/malfunctions in side view mirror camera modules.
I have been having an intermittent warning error saying my front camera is faulty and my lane assist is no longer operational. The error seemed to come and go with bumps. Here recently it has become permanent around the beginning of April 2023, and I no longer have functionality of many safety features including adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, lane assist, crash prevention warning, automatic braking, or even regular cruise control (if I try to turn off the adaptive cruise in the settings regular cruise control still does not work), automatic bright lights don't work. I have been trying to get this resolved since I purchased the car but despite a dozen or so trips to the dealership I cannot seem to get it fixed. I've attached a screenshot of some of the dozens (hundreds?) of error messages I have received through the Ford app with the car, which note pre-collision assist is not available. It does not seem safe to have so many safety features non-operational.
I went to start the vehicle and it gave me a red warning "stop safely now". It was already stopped and would not start at all. It had plenty of charge on the battery pack. It's been at the dealer for nearly two weeks and they have had to order the HVJBC, I believe. I am fortunate that it didn't fail while driving or parked in a place which was inaccessible to a tow truck. The forum I read recommended making a report. This seems to be an all to common problem with this car and can lead to sudden acceleration or deceleration while in motion. Had had received an earlier yellow warning for "service vehicle soon" and took it to the dealership and they assured me they had updated all the software (in the hopes of preventing the "stop safely now" problem). Obviously, that didn't work.
Unintended acceleration from a stop when pushing accelerator. Has happened 2 times in the last 2 days. I touched the throttle from a stop 2 time and it took off like I put the accelerator to full throttle (which I didn’t). Very dangerous situation in parking lots or around pedestrians. I have scheduled an apt with my local dealer.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the park safely warning light was illuminated and the vehicle stalled. Additionally, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The car shows front camera fault disabling all collision safety features as well as cruise control.
Ford released an OTA update for the HVB issue Mach-E were having and leaving drivers stranded. I have seen that even with the update many people are still having the cars break down while driving and needing the High Voltage Battery Connector replaced. I am worried that this may happen to my car one day while driving and could cause an accident or death. Is there anyway to force Ford to fix every car that had this issue before we break down? The temporary fix of software is not good. I think FOrd should be forced to recall all Mach-E and replace the connector before there is an accident that leads to deaths on the road.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that several local dealers were contacted; however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Occasional blank/inoperative info screen, typically recovers after reset or re-start, but sudden loss of visibility of ALL settings and controls for heat, navigation, and most importantly loss of the ability to enter backup Start code for keyless start can cause possible stranding in dangerous conditions. Loss of control of heating/cooling could cause loss of visibility if defrost is unavailable, or heat stroke if air conditioning is unavailable. My understanding is that re-designed console screens are available to address this known defect in vehicles built prior to June 2022, but no recall has been issued.
Ford has failed to take corrective action regarding their Safety Recall Notice 22S41 ( high voltage battery main contactors may overheat and remain open or weld closed). They have not supplied the program updates NEITHER by Wi-Fi or vehicle modem via Automatic Updates for which my vehicle is set up to receive NOR by way of the Ford dealership (Brewster Ford, Brewster, NY) having possession of my vehicle for THREE (3) full days. They are simply unable to remedy Safety Recall Notice 22S41 endangering my family and I. Please take whatever action that you are allowed to fixed the problem before someone gets hurt. Thank you.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V711000 (Visibility) and 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he received a warning from the manufacturer app of a high voltage spike and that the vehicle would shut down. The contact exited the highway and pulled into a parking lot where the vehicle shut down. The contact could not restart the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The mechanic was able to restart the vehicle. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact drove the vehicle to his residence; however, the high voltage spike failure recurred. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the same dealer. The contact was informed that there was damage to the battery metal shielding on the passenger’s side, toward the center of the vehicle. The dealer stated that there were two holes and determined the damage was due to the vehicle striking an object. The dealer stated that since the damage was caused by the vehicle operator, the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) could not be performed. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. * On October 16th, 2022, at about 7:00 pm, I was driving my 2021 Ford Mach-E GT when we began to change lanes (we were in the left lane heading East) as the vehicle in front of us slowed down to make a left-hand turn. There was a car behind us and two vehicles in the right lane (two-lane road in each direction) that were a few car lengths behind us as we began to change into that lane. When I turned on my signal and turned the steering wheel, I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate to get around the car in front of me to keep my distance from the vehicles in the lane I was transitioning into. Unfortunately, when I pressed the gas pedal, we experienced complete vehicle failure. I had no steering, brakes, or acceleration. Within a short time (30-45 minutes), we had no power as the lights on the vehicle, and all electrically powered devices and components were entirely out. This made it very difficult to tow the car as it is all-wheel drive, and we could not put it in Neutral to pull the vehicle. As this happened, five cars were in the area, and several had to swerve and fly off the road onto the dirt shoulder. We barely missed the car in front of us, and the car behind us had to lock up its breaks not to hit us. Our car gradually slowed down and cost off the road about 50 yards or so after losing power, as it was very difficult to get the vehicle to steer; it took everything I had to turn the wheel to get it off the road. We put on the emergency blinkers, but the vehicle lights flashed erratically inside and outside the car. We had over a dozen warnings flash on our dashboard about vehicle failure. The speakers in the car were making a thumping sound on their own as the car was flashing headlights, brake lights, and flashers on their own and very sporadically. It was like a disco club in the car as all the lights were flashing on and of at a rapid rate. The other cars stoppe and were very angry at us as the screamed at us that we almost caused an accident.
HVBJB failure, vehicle lost power and threw an error “stop safely now”; will not drive
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while her mom was driving, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The electrical system was inoperable. While the contact was driving at low speed in a parking lot approaching a stop sign, the vehicle accelerated. The brake pedal was applied but the vehicle continued to drive and crashed into a Toyota 4 Runner. The air bag deployed and impacted the driver in the face and she sustained knee injuries and cuts on her stomach and blood in her stool. A police report was filed. There were no reported fires. The vehicle was towed to an independent collision center. The vehicle was taken previously to the local dealer where the hardware was updated and a reboot was completed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
HVBJB failure
My 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance is exhibiting a Powertrain Failure and Stop Safely Now message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). It is due to a high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB) failure. Ford needs to replace the HVBJB with an updated part and reprogram the BECM, at least. The dealer has no information on the replacement part, and has not associated TSB 21-2178 with the vehicle.
Have had 2 separate incidents in which while driving down highway, car switched into slow mode, powering down and ultimately coming to a stop. Had to call 911 both times to get to safety; it was very scary. Car is at dealer for 2 weeks as of today. Believe this is a battery problem which has been identified in lots of other vehicles
My vehicle has 13,000 miles on it and I have been driving it without any problems until August 12, 2022 when I turned the vehicle on and there was "service now" and a "Battery service" message. I was aware of this problem because it was posted online and Ford has sent me mail about this problem but I thought it could be fixed by an over the air update, which I performed already. So I contacted the nearest dealer to book an appointment to remedy this issue but the next available appointment was on August 31st so it was 2 weeks from then. I decided to give it a shot and drive it and I was able to drive approximately 40 miles before the car shut down as I was turning right on a stoplight on my way to work. The propulsion did not work along with a series of multiple error messages on all systems. I was able to bring the car to the side of the road, in front of a tire service company's parking lot. I tried to start and restart it but to no avail. I called the nearest Ford dealership and they accepted my vehicle so I called a towing service to tow my vehicle to them. I decided to step out of the vehicle and inform the establishment about the situation and that I called a towing service already. When I tried to get in, the doors did not work anymore so I was not able to get in. The towing service arrived and told me to put my car to neutral gear so she can pull it up the bed of the tow truck. I said I could not get in and she stated that she might damage the vehicle if she tried to pull it while it is on park. I had no choice but to agree because I cannot get in the vehicle to change the gear. She had me sign a waiver that states that I accept any possible damages that the vehicle might incur during the towing process. She was able to get the vehicle on the tow truck and deliver it to the dealership I mentioned and now they are trying to repair it. I was aware of this issue beforehand but Ford stated that this issue can be resolved with a simple software update.
My vehicle had the NHTSA Recall Number 22V412 performed 2 weeks ago via an OTA update. Today while driving the vehicle I had critical failure while the vehicle was in motion rendering the vehicle unsafe. It was determined that the part which failed was the part addressed in the recall campaign. The recall should not be considered satisfactory remediation of the issue as it did nothing to prevent this safety concern with my vehicle. Software cannot fix an improperly designed piece of hardware.
The vehicle would not start and display an error message "pull over safely now" which the car was not able to put in any gear. This incident happened 2 times already. The first incident was when i drove the vehicle from Oregon to California. As i was about to leave the next morning from the hotel, the vehicle would not turn un and display the message "pull over safely now". We had to call a tow truck to pick up the vehicle and drop it off at a Dealership in California for about 30 days. We pick up the vehicle and drove back to Oregon and the same issue happen again in less than a week with the same error message "pull over safely now".
Failure of HVBJB after associated recall compliance. One day after recall compliance, “stop safely now” message displayed, vehicle would not power up. Towed to dealership. HVBJB failure verified via FDRS. Dealership replaced HVBJB.
On May 14, 2022, I stopped twice on a 120 mile trip to recharge my Mach E at a level 3 DC charger. Upon completing each charge, the ring around the charging port turned red and I received a default message. I plugged my car into my home level 2 charger and the car completely locked down and I was unable to reenter the car. I have since learned that this is the classic sign of a HVBJB failure. The dealerships updated the car's programming but did not replace the HVBJB. The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contactors that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice for my vehicle 22s41. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contactors are damaged. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require removal of the part(s) which are KNOWN TO FAIL to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that “Stop Safely Now" and "Accessory Power Active" messages were displayed. The contact exited the vehicle and upon attempting to unlock the doors, the doors failed to unlock. The contact was unable to unlock the vehicle for several hours and remained stranded on the side of the road while awaiting assistance from Roadside Assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the battery was replaced and an unknown software update was completed; however, the failure recurred. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Airport Marina Ford (5880 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90045) was also contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Any internal damage to contactors is not externally visibley, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, power brakes and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contactors are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships NEED equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only band aid and does not require removal of the parts KNOWN TO FAIL. These parts should be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions unable to re-start my vehicle. I suffered a failure related to this post-recall and had a sudden and permanent loss of power while driving at Texas highway speeds (70mph) in congested morning traffic. Fortunately I was able to make my way off the highway but other conditions could have ended up worse. Software "fixes" are not the solution and the actual problem of the defective parts need to be replaced in the affected models to avoid possible injuries and fatalities from these vehicles.

We saw the recall warning and attempted to fix the issue but dealer stated it's been fixed over the air update. However, on July 21, there was a high voltage battery failure notice.

When placed in drive the car takes off on its own without the acceleration pedal being touched. The passenger locks only work with key fob unlock button being pressed and the passenger side doesn't recognize the Fob for easy entry. The adaptive cruise control warning comes on constantly. The handas free parking never worked since i got the car in July 2021.
When unplugging the vehicle from my home charger a large spark came out of the vehicle receptacle for the charging cable. This started happening a few weeks ago and has happened twice.
While returning from vacation, driving home on the highway, our car suddenly stopped working. We had been traveling at approximately 65 mph on SR 1 in Delaware when I accelerated to pass another vehicle and the car suddenly jolted forward and the engine seized. I received a warning to pull to a safe location as soon as possible. Thankfully, we were able to pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway without incident. The cars electrical system gradually shut down, limiting our ability to place the vehicle in neutral for towing. Approximately 250 miles from home and forced to wait more than 2 hours in the 90 degree weather with no AC, we were forced to bring the car to the nearest ford dealership in new castle Delaware. Since the battery and power completely failed, the dealership had to jump the 12 volt battery several times to get the car back in neutral to remove the vehicle from the tow truck. We needed to find our own car rental as neither the dealership nor ford customer service would assist with getting us back home to NY.
My vehicle was built with under-specked high voltage battery joint assembly bracket. The failure of this connection has caused many incidents whereby the car cannot start, or suddenly stops while driving. The part is either not to original specification or was not designed correctly. In either case, providing a SW fix to simply limit the voltage does not actually prevent or correct the problem. As this fix has rolled out, there are numerous reports of the issue still happening. This is because the fix doesn't fix the original condition, it only serves to limit the scope going forward. But if the part has been in use for 2 years as mine is, then the damage has already occurred and the fix will not prevent my issue. The appropriate fix for the problem is a replacement HVBJB, which Ford is only installing AFTER the incident occurs. This is totally unacceptable and is simply an accident waiting to occur. The SW fix is analogous to the original attempt by GM to correct the Bolt battery fire situation. Eventually, the batteries were replaced, which was the correct response. I am simply demanding that Ford follow a similar path. Consumer stated number for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000.

While legally passing a car on a 2-lane highway, at over 50+ mph, the car lost motive power and began to shut down leaving me with no power facing on coming traffic. I had no choice but to force other cars to slow down behind me, causing another hazard, in order to get to the side of the road. I could have been killed in an oncoming car collision.
I got the high voltage warning and my car shut down while driving it. The local ford dealership looked over the issue and has all the information
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while charging the vehicle, he smelled smoke coming from the garage. The contact checked and noticed that the odor was coming from the wire that connected the charger to the wall outlet. The charger was the original equipment; Ford wall box Model: ML9Z-10C83-A. The dealer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The dealer stated they would contact and notify the manufacturer of the failure. The contact had not heard back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 4,100.

Car broke down twice due to defective high voltage junction block.
Driving our BEV Mach E at a normal speed, we got an error code, "Pull to the side of the road safely / stop safely" on our instrument display. The car turned itself off, and we had to slowly coast to the side of the road, which caused a lot of potential harm with other drivers not expecting our sudden course change - We activated our hazards, though. After cycling the car on/off, we were able to finish our drive home (about 8 more miles) with no further error codes. But this completely disabled the car and was extremely dangerous. If this had happened on the freeway or at night, and/or the vehicle would not have been able to be restarted, this would have been EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and is UNACCEPTABLE. Ford must be responsible for this, and must take action. Ford must fix the high voltage junction box, before someone is killed by this poor design. Thank you for taking the time to look at this note. This was VERY scary, and VERY dangerous.
Car would not move- "Stop Safely Now" error. Had to get it towed.
Car did not start - was in local grocery parking lot- needed to be towed to dealership.
On May 20, 2022, for the second time in a month my 2021 California 1 Mach e has had a catastrophic failure. It is less than a year old with 21,000mi. First time (April 20, 2022) I pulled out onto road after fast charging. Tonight, I started driving out of parking space after shopping. Emergency bells go off, all kinds of alerts and the car dies. You cannot get the gear cluster to turn...at all. Car will not turn off either. If this happens on a highway, it could be life endangering. First time it happened I was in Charlotte and Ford Dealer (Capital Ford) said it was 12v battery issue. Said they fixed it. I took it in to Palmetto Ford in Charleston to have it investigated further and they said it was fixed. That was two weeks ago. Now it's happened again. In second incident on May 20, I called for towing. As truck showed up, my car started normally (i had tried several other times before). I am still taking into Palnetto Ford Dealer. The Ford Motor Company needs to fix this before someone is killed. Documenting this for myself and others. This is happening to other Mustang Mach E...because I have seen the issue written about in online forums. The problem onset is sudden and catastrophic, meaning the car just dies. First time I was on a busy road traveling 30mph and managed to roll into a parking lot. Had their been traffic I could have been hit. Second time, I was in a parking lot traveling 5 mph and blocked an entire lane for 10min. To emphasize: two dealers looked at vehicle after incident 1 and said issue was fixed. Now I have to go back into Dealer again. Thank you for investigating.
Travelling from WI to NC using Electrify America DC fast chargers along the way. While in NC, got Stop Safely Now alert on screen and had to immediately pull over and stop where there was no shoulder. Could not move vehicle in any way after this. Could not put it in N, could not put it in Emergency Tow Mode. Had to wait 8 hours for tow with proper equipment. Issue was caused by failure of HVBJB - High Voltage Battery Junction Box which needed to be replaced.
After charging at Electrify America using DC Fast Charger, car windows stopped working, then safety alerts started flashing "Charge State Error" and "Stop safely now!" alerts. Car would not go forward but would go in Neutral some tries. Flatbed was able to load car and haul to closest dealer. Tech said High Voltage Junction Box went bad and needed to be replaced. 3 weeks later, part is replaced but windows don't work. Dealer says it will be 2 more weeks before windows can be repaired.
Stop Safely Now, HVJBC and BECM failure, car wouldn't shift or move.
Vehicle reported an electrical issue and would not let me take the vehicle out of park. Had to be towed to a local Ford Service Center. Have heard of similar issues from other owners.
I was stranded in a parking lot in the evening when my car wouldn't start. The vehicle displayed a "STOP SAFELY NOW" message and I couldn't get the car to move on its own. This happened on April 13, 2022. My safety was at risk because I was in a parking lot at night and unable to engage my car. I had to call and wait for a tow truck. The Ford dealership, in consultation with Ford engineers, confirmed that it was due to a faulty High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) and it had to be replaced. With the faulty HVBJB, the car was undrivable. The HVBJB was inspected by Ford personnel and determined to be faulty. It was replaced under warranty. There were no other messages or warnings before my car failed to start. No prior symptoms. I drove normally to a store, parked the car, and when I returned to my car it failed to start.
At around 600 miles my vehicle displayed "high voltage battery warning" and "powertrain malfunction" dashboard warning lights. Each light had an associated description that indicated the vehicle's power could fail at any time. This is a 1st model year all electric vehicle. The fact this occurred within 1k miles of ownership is concerning. I took it to a local Ford dealer, ultimately they replaced the high voltage battery junction box and battery electronic control module.
The vehicle started saying a door was ajar without indicating which one. Sometimes we would get an intruder alert while the car was plugged in at work but nothing was open or unlocked. Occasionally the passenger door would open on its own after turning off the car. Now we get a door fault alert after starting the car. We have contacted a local dealer as well as our purchasing dealer but both indicate. Month before they can see the car due to lack of qualified techs. Today, 4/26/2022 the passenger door opened on its own while at highway speed. Only the driver was in the car. The driver had to reach over to rematch the door. A dealer appointment was set two weeks prior for 5/12/2022.
While driving around a curve, my car lost all power and went completely dark. I didn't have brakes, steering, lights or any other functions. My car was completely bricked. This happened before daylight and I didn't have emergency flashers to notify other drivers I was stopped on the side of the road. After waiting for 6 hours for a tow truck, I went and tried to find the problem myself. I found a loose connection. It was the main power feed supplying the fuse box. Once I tightened it up, I was able to start and drive the car. I've attached a picture of the connection I tightened.
Was driving 55+ mph on freeway, was told by the car to 'stop safely' Had no accelleration, no power steering, came to a stop at a stop sign, could not shift to neutral to move it.
The High Volt Battery (HVB) would have a fault in charging sporadically. When this happens, the vehicle can't start. All the alerts for safety features come on and says that it's in accessory mode only. It's no longer in my possession for inspection. It was approved for lemon law buy back and is now owned by Ford Motor Company. They've recognized that the 12v battery drains dead when this happens and they were attempting to replace the ECM module, Battery Control Harness, and the HVB junction box to remedy the issue. My safety was put at risk in terms of when this happened. It was between -25 to -40 when this was occurring and the heat doesn't come on in accessory mode. There was the possibility of frostbite within 5-10 minutes if I didn't seek warm shelter. The problem was reproduced by the dealership where purchased [they have all the documentation on file] as well as multiple people [more than 50+] in other states having the same problems reproduced on their Ford Mach-e vehicles as well at macheforum.com. The vehicle and components were inspected and ultimately bought back the vehicle by the manufacturer. No warnings lamps, messages, or other symptoms appear prior to the failure. They first appear when the vehicle 'decides' to not charge anymore. Since Ford has yet to announce any recalls / notices because of the increasing amount of people having the same issue. I wanted to inform NHTSA because it's just a matter of time before someone does have a risk event because of this.
Drove my fully charged Mustang Mach E(MME) from TN to my daughter's school and to a local dealership to have some aftermarket wheels/tires installed (20 miles in total). Upon parking the vehicle in their service lane, I turned the vehicle off and handed them the keys. They get in the vehicle and try to turn it on and tell me "the vehicle won't turn on". I get in the vehicle myself and sure enough, the main dash display, screen display, transmission lights, etc are not working at all. After 7+ hours of trying to diagnose, there is apparently already a TSB out there for 12v batteries failing and other issues regarding the LVB (low voltage battery). None of these were ever addressed or reported to me. My vehicle is only 1.5 months old with 2k miles on it. The car is broken and completely inoperable at this point. Ford sent a roadside assistance individual (2 hours later) and they physically had to drag the vehicle onto the tow bed because it will not go into neutral or react to anything they did. Ford then tells me it could be weeks before they can even look at it. The car is incapable of moving and I have kids to pick up. I had to call Ford HQ (which takes hours) and they are going to provide me rental reimbursement afterward, but I could be out thousands of dollars out of pocket in the meantime. Why aren't these issues resolved before selling people a vehicle? I could have been stuck on the side of the highway or in traffic or similar with 0 way to move or operate the vehicle. It could not be rolled or maneuvered in any way. It had to be drug off the floor of the service shop to even tow it. These TSBs are old as well, some dating back to feb 2021 (purchased my car in Feb 22). This is extremely dangerous and with a 1 year old and 5 year old, we could have been stranded or seriously harmed if this occurred in traffic. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/car-wont-start-stuck-in-service-lane-2021-mme-gtpe-eawd.16521/
On 4/1, while entering the FWY @ about 50 mph under moderate accel, big thump (felt like the trans fell out), drivers display cycled thru multiple errors with "stop safely now" repeatedly flashing. Throttle went dead, speed dropped to 35 and steadily decreased. Was able to slowly exit FWY @ next exit, rolled thru light @ bottom of ramp and pulled over to the side of a busy side street. Came to a stop & car would not move. Put in park, cycled on/off several times. Would not come out of park. Tow truck arrived. Found emergency tow function in the main display. Tow driver hooked up front, put rears on dolly & towed to dealer.
The 12V battery drains to the point the car will not boot or go in gear. It spits about 8 error messages at you but none that say low 12V battery. This has now happened 3 times in the last year. This has left me stranded in the cold hundreds of miles from home one of those times. They are now saying that a high voltage junction box and a battery energy control module is required. After waiting 4 months for parts we will see soon I am hoping. Noted in additional details the first time it happened is referenced. OBD 2 ============1============== P0AA2 Raw code: 0AA2 ECU: 7EC Status: Confirmed OBDII: Hybrid battery positive contactor - circuit stuck open ============2============== U0594 Raw code: C594 ECU: 7EC Status: Confirmed OBDII: Invalid data received from hybrid powertrain control module
Car was parked in my home garage and would not start, displaying "Stop safely now." Vehicle appears to have code P0AA1 Hybrid battery positive contactor - circuit stuck closed. Many other Mach-E vechicles are exhibiting this defective part in the high voltage battery system, which appears to be the Battery Electrical Control Module (BECM). Ford appears to be aware of this issue, and, unconfirmed, has stopped production of the Mach-E to canibalize parts to fix vehicles that fail. However, some are less lucky than me and had their car stop dead while driving on the highway, and Ford should not be waiting for vehicles to stop and strand people before fixing this serious defect. Please see here for more info on my situation: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/%F0%9F%98%ADmach-n-cheese-stop-safely-now-%F0%9F%98%AD.16174/
The vehicle displayed "Stop Safely Now" on the instrument panel and would not drive. Required a tow to the dealer, High Voltage Battery removal, replacement of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box, and vehicle reassembly.
As the vehicle was braking to a stop at a stoplight the rear motors began chattering. The vehicle stopped and gave multiple error messages including "Shift System Fault" and "Stop Vehicle Safely." It locked the parking brake and could not be moved. It was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection on a county highway. It could not be driven or pushed out of traffic until the error cleared. It was a hazard to the occupants and other drivers on the road. 911 was called to get support with traffic. There was no indication before this failure occurred. It will be going in for service in 2 days. This is the second occurrence of the failure on this vehicle, the previous one at 2011 miles.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the stability track, traction control, and pre-collision warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
Mileage: 200
The tailgate on our 2 Mustang Mach E’s have spontaneously opened on their own several times. One time narrowly missing one of our 2 year grandsons and another time impacting a closed garage door resulting in approximately $1,500 in damage (State Farm Insurance Claim). The issue was not able to be reproduced at the Ford Service Department but has been reported to have occurred by several additional Mach E owners on the Mach E Forum. Both cars are available for inspection.
This vehicle is sold with a single key FOB and an option to use Phone As A Key software. This feature has been a continual source of problems, as reported by almost every purchaser. It has been updated numerous times, including a dealer installed software update. This is a serious safety issue. To unlock the key, you can use the traditional keypad on the door handle. This works consistently. However, once inside the vehicle, it can be impossible to have the car recognize the phone in my hand. Many owners report having to have the phone in a certain position, out of pocket or at a certain location in the car. Rebooting the phone, starting and stopping Bluetooth, getting out of the car, locking it and starting over again have all been mentioned. These work in a very hit or miss approach. I truly believe this software feature is still very much in its beta stages and should not be relied upon in lieu of a second key fob which is standard on every other Ford vehicle. To purchase the second FOB requires a purchase of the key and a programming service from the dealer, a $300 investment. While I understand there will always be software issues, and the Sync 4 center console certainly has them, the ability to start my car should not be part of this roadblock. Carrying the single FOB with me simply makes it more likely to be lost, and no way to have any assistance available to start my car and get me home safely. My fear is that anyone could easily be stranded in an isolated / dangerous location as a result of the failure of PAAK. The feature also requires a cell signal at the location to make it successfully validate the phone. This implies that driving the car in any desert or mountain area requires use of the actual FOB. I am requesting that Ford supply a second key FOB at no cost after I made a $60,000 investment. Consumer stated after several updates software still functions erratically.*JB
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD (IN MOTION / CITY STREET) AT 30 MILES PER HOUR IN MY BRAND NEW (4 WEEK OLD / 2200 MILES) ALL ELECTRIC FORD MACH E, THE DISPLAY FLASHED MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS THAT CAME TOO QUICKLY TO DECIPHER, AND THEN THE CAR WENT DEAD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND COME TO A STOP. AT THIS POINT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. EVEN THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T WORK WHICH MADE THE SITUATION DANGEROUS SINCE THE CARS BEHIND ME COULD NOT TELL THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM.
