Vehicle: 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E (leased) The issue involves the cruise control system and steering wheel control layout (human-machine interface). Cruise control is unintentionally activated when attempting to use the turn signal due to the placement of the cruise control buttons. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On two separate occasions while using one-pedal driving, unintended cruise control activation caused sudden acceleration during low-speed turning maneuvers. The first incident occurred while signaling to turn into a parking spot. The second occurred while entering a left-turn pocket. In both cases, the unexpected acceleration created an immediate risk of collision with surrounding vehicles and required sudden panic braking to avoid an accident. The issue has occurred multiple times during normal driving but has not yet been formally reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, and the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or other parties regarding this issue. No warning lamps, alerts, or messages appeared prior to the unintended acceleration. Cruise control engaged without driver intent and without advance warning.
Upon vehicle startup, the speedometer does not show on the instrument cluster (completely digital readout, analog readout not possible). In its place is the EV's remaining battery % with absolutely no way to access the speedometer and know the speed of the vehicle. This places the driver, other drivers, pedestrians, anyone else on the road at risk of excessive vehicle speed. There is no warning, error messages, or other symptoms prior to the issue happening. The only way rectify the issue is to fully restart the vehicle. However, this is not always a guaranteed fix, and the problem may persist between starts up. The issue does not occur during every start up event and is intermittent with a sudden onset (had the vehicle for 1.5 years at this point). The issue has occurred 3x in the last 2 weeks now. This issue appears to happen to other drivers of the same make / model and varying model years according to several other sources: (link 1) [XXX] (link 2) [XXX] (link 3) [XXX] (link 4) [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
A software glitch is causing lag in the instrument panel which displays the speed and turn indicators. Both are experiencing 'lag' or 'skipping', so the speedometer is not updating in real-time and regularly displays inaccurate speed information. To elaborate, as I accelerate, the indicated speed jumps with the worst experienced so far being 28mph to 60mph. The car will do the same decelerating. The turn indicators/hazard light indicators are also lagging and not displaying correctly. The Ford dealership was not able to resolve the issue after resetting several systems and attempting a software update.
It is far too easy to accidentally hit and activate cruise control button on the steering wheel when turning. If your thumb brushes up against the button the car can continue moving when you expect it to be slowing down either coasting or staying at the same speed when using 1-pedal driving. This could easily cause an accident when coming up to a turn and someone is crossing the street or similar situation.
We were driving my Ford Mach E when the vehicle disengaged the accelerator pedal and accelerated forward in which we had no control of. Pressing the break would cause the vehicle to accelerate faster almost causing multiple accidents at a high rate of speed. Multiple sensor malfunction even after being “ fixed “
Car suddently lost power. There no torque. High voltage battery warning came on. Car dontvrespond as expected auddently lost of power.
My vehicle has no driver screen. It completely went black. Cannot monitor my speed or check anything on the dash screen.
I just bought mach E. [XXX] I was in car line at Macdonalds to get food for my 14 year old son. The speeded itself to full speed. I luckily had both hands on wheel. I turned car to left away from car in front of me. Luckily I was able to put my foot on brakes and able to stop the car but not before killing couple of plants on curb. I manage to stop car just couple of feet away from building. In process I burst my front left tire and had to tow the car to nearest shop to get tire replacement. I complaint to Ford. Made sure they document everything. They haven't paid any attention to my calls and want me to pick car from dealership without getting into why it happened. Before this happened I noticed at least four times the car speeds up when you press cruise control button even without setting the set up button. Ford is not willing to do anything about it and I am scared to drive that car the way it shot at me and itself speeded while I was in car line. When driving, sometimes a “Drive Mode Unavailable” message comes up on the infotainment. Drive modes in the MachE contribute to deceleration, one pedal driving, and throttle mapping, and switching abruptly from one to another without input from the driver is a safety issue as it can instantaneously change the deceleration or acceleration rate of the vehicle. This is a known bug that’s been around for years and still no fix for it.
The vehicle regularly, and at random times, will drop out of the chosen drive setting and go to the default "Engage" mid-level setting. This changes the driving dynamics, such as pedal pressure required to move the car, and the sensitivity of the steering. If the driver was in "Unbridle", for example, the car will immediately lose speed and steering sensitivity, while if the driver was in "Whisper", the car will lurch forward. This has happened at city speeds, highway speeds, and even while at a stop in a line of cars. The stop is especially dangerous, as 1-pedal drivers would expect the car to be fully stopped, but it still lurches forward towards people or other cars. Temperature of the engine and battery does not seem to be a factor, as this happens in all conditions. It appears to be a dangerous software error.
The car is accelerating by his own, without having the cruise control on and this happened a couple times, mostly after a full stop on a red light, until you don’t make a manual full emergency break it won’t stop. It can cause death if it accelerate it by his own, also couple times the front camera has a fall out and he’s warning the pre collision even no car is in front of you
