STARTED CAR, DROVE LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND GOT A BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE INSIDE THE CAR. PULLED OVER AND MADE IT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE BACK PANEL WAS ALREADY BUBBLING WITH FIRE. CALLED 911 BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN MINUTES. STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE JUST GLAD I GOT OUT ALIVE.
ELECTRICAL WIRING BELOW THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAD A SHORT, CAUSING THE SEAT TO CATCH ON FIRE. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BY CONSUMER.*AK *BF *NM

MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRENTY THEY REBUILT IT, AND AT THAT TIME I HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THE FUSE PROBLEM THEY SAID IT WAS SOME WIRE NEAR THE SEAT TRACK SOO THEY REPLACED IT. IT WORKED FOR A LITTLE WHILE WELL THE WARRANTY IS NO LONGER VALID AND THE FUSE CONTINUES TO BLOW I HAVE TO PUT A NEW FUSE IN EVERY TIME I NEED TO MOVE THE SEAT I ONLY GET ONE SHOT AT IT FOR IT WILL BLOW IN A FEW SECONDS I HAVE'NT TAKEN IT BACK. *AK

IGNITION SWITCH WHERE YOU PUT KEY IN DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. MANY TIMES ITS HARD TO GET THE KEY IN AND OUT. OTHER TIMES ITS VERY HARD TO GET THE CAR TO START. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND THEY ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. AFTER ABOUT 30 OR LONGER IT WILL START BACK UP AGAIN. TOOK TO MECHANIC, AND THEY PUT IN A FUEL FILTER, AND DID A COMPRESSION CHECK. EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD, BUT PROBLEM WITH STALLING WAS STILL THERE.*AK
STALL AFTER STARTING WHILE PARKED.HOT WEATHER.SERVICE/ENGINE TUNE-UP FAILED TO REVEAL THE CAUSE. THE VEHICLE STALLING SPORATICALLY CONTINUES ; AT LEAST SIX TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION ,IT HAD STARTED,BUT THEN TRIED TO STALL IN A TRAFFIC SITUATION.
UNDER THE HOOD FIRE DUE TO ALTERATOR SHORTING OUT. DEALER/MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS : IE THE RECALL FOR THE DRIVER SEAT WIRING HARNESS AND ALSO HAS POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF RECALL ON 1994 TAURUS, LINCOLN AND MERCURY MALFUNCTION ING CIRCUIT BREAKER CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO FLASH INTERMITTENLIY. SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR IN OCT. OF 98 I HAVE HAD PROBLEM WITH MY RADIO PICKING UP MOTOR NOISES, IF I TURNED ON MY BRIGHTS THEN AT SOME POINT ALL HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO OFF, AND NOW, BEGINNING 01/99 MY HEADLIGHTS GO ON AND OFF AT RANDOM WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR IDLING. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE MECHANIC DUE TO THE FACT THE $1500 EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT THEY SOLD ME DOES NOT COVER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SO NOW I TURN TO YOU FOR HELP TO SEE IF OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS. BATTERY CABLE GOT HOT ANDBURNED/ MELTED THE BOTTOM OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTIONBOX, CAUSING THE BOX TO TO MELT WHILE IDLING. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
