The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that during inclement weather, water was entering the cabin of the vehicle through the passenger’s side glove box. The contact stated that due to the failure, mold had developed throughout the vehicle on the carpet, doors, and interior seats. The contact's husband also discovered that water had entered the computer module after inspecting the vehicle and the module was removed. The contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable after several repairs and several battery replacements. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the dealer and was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 87,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH on a rainy night, the headlights started flickering. The contact stated that upon exiting the freeway, while driving 30 MPH, the headlights completely turned off and the hazard lights were inoperable. The contact drove to the nearest gas station and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that upon attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

Body control module. It gets wet when it rains because of an engineering mess up. It shorts out my lights. Sometimes it can't get out of car because it messes with the locks and windows. Can't use my electric mirrors anymore. Instead of being a much needed recall they decided to not even make replacement bcm. It is a problem everything it gets wet that should have been recalled and fixed. At least a thousand other incidents of this happening to others.

I've own a 2005 Mustang GT since the year 2012. Throughout the years I've encountered problems where the cooling fan would abruptly shut off and cause the engine to overheat. The first time this happened I had to pull over to the side of the road countless of times just to let my car get cool enough to get back home. I brought the Mustang GT in to a mechanic who suggested to replace the radiator fan. After replacing it, the fan would work for a few weeks only for it to randomly shut off, but turn back on. Just recently I found oil in my spark plugs and found the following OBD II error codes: P0480 Fan 1 Control Circuit & P0481 Fan 2 Control Circuit. I am convinced the valve seals and maybe the piston rings were worn out due to excessive heat caused by the Mustang's electrical issues with the radiator fan. After searching online, I found countless amounts of threads and videos of other Mustang owners experiencing the same issue. Most of them are caused by a faulty relay connection inside the Mustang's fuse box that is causing the radiator fan to fail. The faulty relay would get burnt and cause a short thus not providing power to the radiator fan which left many owners stranded on the road and caused over thousands of dollars in damages to their engine. The part that gets burnt is not easily available and would require owners to pay an additional thousands of dollars to reconnect the relays. Some owners had no choice but to create a makeshift wired connection from their radiator fan to the dashboard so that their vehicle's engine can remain under normal operating temperatures while driving. The contact stated that the headlights were inoperable due to the water leaking into the interior of the vehicle. Additionally, there was water leaking into the interior of the dashboard. There was also water coming out of the driver’s side front air vent and the interior lighting in the vehicle from the interior module and center console. The lights were flickering on and off. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer however, the dealer was not able to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE EVERYONE ELSE IS WITH THEIR SPEEDOMETER, TACH, FUEL GAGE. IT WAS WORKING FINE, THE WEATHER WARMED UP AND IT WOULD WORK SOMETIMES. THEN IT JUST STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE I HAVE NO WAY OF TELLING HOW FAST I'M GOING. I COULD UNDERSTAND THIS HAPPENING IF I HAD 100,000 MILES ON IT, BUT AS OF YESTERDAY, 4/26/2021 IT JUST HIT 39,034. WITH EVERYONE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE, HOW IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT COST OF $875. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND A DANGEROUS ONE.

THERE IS AN APPARENT DESIGN FLAW IN 2005 MUSTANGS AS I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AS TO WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. DUE TO THIS DESIGN FLAW AFTER A RECENT DAY OF HEAVY RAIN 1 HEADLIGHT AND 1 SIGNAL LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN SHUT OFF. I RESEARCHED AND APPARENTLY THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) GOT WET AND THE ELECTRICAL UNIT IS NOW MALFUNCTIONING. THERE WAS ALSO A STRONG BURNING SMELL WHEN I GOT HOME THAT NIGHT AS WELL. SPOKE WITH AN ONLINE MECHANIC TECHNICIAN AND HE CONFIRMED THAT THE SJB NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE HAS BEEN A LONG HISTORY OF THE CAR LEAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHENEVER IT RAINS DUE TO THE DESIGN FLAW. ALSO MY GAS GAUGE NEVER READS PROPERLY, INSIDE LIGHTS ARE ALSO DIM/OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR NEARLY A YEAR AND MY MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE WHY THE REVIEWS ONLINE SAID WHEN THEY SPOKE TO FORD THAT ADMITTED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL THAT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THIS FOR FREE. ESTIMATES I READ PUT THE COST AROUND $1000 TO GET THIS FIXED AND DO NOT WANT TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY ESPECIALLY WHEN FORD ADMITS TO KNOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM. I AM HOPEFUL THAT WE CAN GET FORD TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS. IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM SINCE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAN CAUSE A FIRE FROM REPORTS I HAVE READ. THIS HAPPENED TO MEET ON 12/21/18. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND PARKED THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. AS I LOCKED THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT AND PASSENGER SIDE SIGNAL LIGHT STAYED ON AND I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO MAKE THEM SHUT OFF. ALSO THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING ODOR WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD.

THE 2005 TO 2009 MUSTANGS (ALL OF THEM) HAVE A WATER INTRUSION PROBLEM PRESENTED AS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ENGINE FIREWALL THAT LEAKS WATER ONTO THE SMART JUNCTION BLOCK CAUSING RANDOM ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FAILURE INCLUDING THE LOSS OF ENGINE IGNITION, LOSS OF ALL SYSTEMS, ETC. IN MY CASE, THE INTRUSION OF WATER CAUSED A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL SYSTEMS. DISCOVERED A DAY AFTER HEAVY RAIN. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REPORTS OF THIS ON THE WEB AND THE DEALER ADMITS IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND KNOWN PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED MY CAR NEW MARCH 1, 2005. I HAVE DONE ALL OF THE SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE THROUGH THE DEALER. IN 2011 - WATER POURING IN UNDER DASH FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE LEAK. I STARTED TO WET VACUUMING THE WATER OUT. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO SMELL LIKE MOLD. I FINALLY CALLED MY NEPHEW WHO WORKS FOR FORD IN ANOTHER CITY. HE CLEANED OUT THE DRAIN IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIED OUT THE CAR. WHY DIDN'T THE MECHANIC AT LANDMARK KNOW ABOUT THE DRAIN? AROUND THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK ITSELF WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. CALLED DEALER NO HELP. CALLED NEPHEW HE SAID WIRING ISSUE. THE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING STOPPED. SINCE THEN THE LOCKS TRY TO RELOCK ANYTIME I ACCELERATED FROM A FULL STOP. I HAVE FOUND MY WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN. I NEVER LEAVE MY WINDOWS DOWN. I AM A BIG STICKLER WHEN IT COMES TO LOCKING MY CAR UP AND I DON'T LEAVE MY WINDOWS DOWN. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS LAST WEEK. NEXT CAME THE TRUNK. IT WOULD UNLOCK WHILE I WAS DRIVING. FINALLY REMOVED THE FUSE TO MAKE IT STOP. THE NEXT FAIL WAS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NOTHING WORKS RIGHT. SPORADICALLY THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS BUT CAN STOP ANY TIME. LUCKILY THE ODOMETER WORKS SO I USE THE TRIP METER TO KNOW WHEN TO GET GAS. RIGHT NOW MY CAR LIES DEAD IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CD CHANGER STARTED SHUFFLING CD'S WHEN THE CAR WAS RUNNING OR PARKED. PROBLEM WAS IT HAD NOT BEEN TURNED ON. I HAVE ON OCCASION SMELLED SMOKE IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. FROM RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, EVIDENTLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTING OUT DUE TO WATER GETTING INTO THE FUSE BOX DUE TO THE DRAIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 107000 MILES ON IT. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAS KNOW. THEY NEED TO MAKE IT RIGHT. OH AND TO TOP IT OFF, I TOOK IT TO A FORD SPECIALIST AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. $370 LATER MY CAR IS STILL DEAD.

I PURCHASED MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG V6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN JULY OF 2016. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE BUT ABOUT A MONTH LATER I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SITTING AT E SO I ATTEMPTED TO FILL IT THINKING I HAD AN EMPTY TANK WHICH MEANT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT 14-16 GALLONS IN AND AS I WAS REFUELING I NOTICED IT KEPT SHUTTING OFF EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST STARTED THE PUMP EVENTUALLY I GOT IT FILLED AND ONLY PUT IN ABOUT 6 GALLONS WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD BUT I WENT WITH IT AND GOT BACK IN MY CAR STARTED IT UP AND NOTICED THAT THE GAUGE WAS STILL SITTING AT E AT THAT POINT I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG BUT I FIGURED IT COULD WAIT SINCE I KNEW HOW FAR I COULD POTENTIALLY GO ON A FULL TANK BUT THEN AFTER I LEFT AND HEADED FOR HOME I NOTICED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER SAID I WAS GOING 60 BUT EVERYONE WAS BLOWING PAST ME AT LEAST 10MPH FASTER WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 60. SO I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT AT A STOP THE SPEEDOMETER CAME TO REST AT 35MPH I WAS ABLE TO FIX IT BUT IT KEPT HAPPENING I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT I DIDNT GET PULLED OVER BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA HOW FAST I WAS GOING. THEN FOR A WHILE THAT STOPPED HAPPENING BUT EVERY NOW AND THEN AND AT AN INCREASING RATE THE ENGINE KEEPS STALLING LIKE ITS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL WHEN I STOP AT AN INTERSECTION OR STOP SIGN EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE FUEL TANK THE DAY BEFORE AND HADN'T DRIVEN MORE THAN 50 MILES. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENTS BEGINNINGS WAS ~24,000 MILES THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 34,000 AS OF 5/15/17.

EVER SINCE I GOT MY MUSTANG THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ACTING UP AND WOULD SOMETIMES GIVE ME A CORRECT READING BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT JUST SITS AT EMPTY EVEN AFTER REFUELING. THEN JUST RECENTLY I STARTED DRIVING INTO WORK WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY SPEEDOMETER SAID I WAS DOING ABOUT 100 MPH ON CITY STREETS AND CONFIRMED IT WAS INACCURATE WHEN I CAME TO A STOPLIGHT AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT THE SPEEDOMETER READ 50 MPH. WHEN I GOT TO WORK I STOPPED THE ENGINE AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND I HAD TO REPEAT THIS PROCESS 7-8 TIMES TO GET IT TO RESET BACK TO 0 MPH THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT OCCURRED SINCE I GOT IT. *TR

HAD THE AIRBAG REPLACED/ WEEKS LATER HAD THE "FAULTY SEAL" PROBLEM FOLLOWED BY THE "SJM " BOX (SMART JUNCTION BOX) DESTROYED BY THE WATER DAMAGE DUE TO FAULTY SEAL. NOW THE SJM IS ON BACKORDER UNTIL AUG. 2016. SEAL ALREADY REPLACED IN MARCH/2016 WHEN ORDER PLACED FOR SJB. RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGAURDING 05-07 MUSTANG MODELS. DUE TO MAKE DESIGN. UNFORTUNATELY, RESULTING IN WINDOW MOTOR FAILURE, BATTERY DRAIN, HEADLIGHTS STUCK ON HIGH BEAMS, TURN SIGNALS STUCK ON, INSTURMENT CLUSTER MALFUNCTION AND DASH LIGHTS FAIL. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR ANY RECALL INFORMATION AND CIVIL SUITE/ CLASS ACTION. THE DANGERS AND THE NUMBERS ARE CLEAR, FORD NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED ON THIS MATTER. THE FORD CUSTOMERS DESERVE TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THEIR LOSSES AND DAMAGES. ESPECIALLY IN THE CASE OF INDIVIDUALS WHOM ARE WAITING FOR THE SJM BOX TO BE MANUFACTURED DUE TO SHORTAGE OF MATERIALS.

DEFECT IN UNDER COWL DRAINAGE LEADS TO RAINWATER LEAKING INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. WATER DRAINS DOWN WIRING HARNESS INTO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX CASING ELECTRICAL SHORTS THAT AT FIRST CAUSED THE RIGHT HEADLAMP TO SHUTDOWN AFTER 15 SECONDS. RECYCLING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH BRINGS THE HEADLIGHT BACK ON FOR ANOTHER 15 SECONDS. THIS CONDITION RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE FROM SUNSET TO SUNRISE. NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP HAS BEGUN THE SAME PROBLEM. I CHECKED ONLINE AND IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE FOR WHICH THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER HAS NO PART AVAILABLE TO FIX. THEY INITIALLY INFORMED ME THAT THE SMJ WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE LAST SEPTEMBER. THAT HAS NOW BEEN PUSHED BACK TO FEBRUARY OF 2016. THEY WANT OVER $400 FOR THE PART PLUS ADDITIONAL LABOR TO PROGRAM AND INSTALL A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO. THIS PROBLEM IS ALREADY COVERED UNDER A TSB AND THE DEFECT CAN CAUSE A MULTITUDE OF MALFUNCTIONS THAT COULD EASILY RESULT IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. I JUST RECENTLY CHECKED AND FOUND OVER 286 REPORTS ON FILE WITH NHTSA, YET NO APPARENT INVESTIGATIONS APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED, NOR A RECALL. IT IS MY SINCER HOPE THAT NHTSA IS NOT WAITING FOR A BODY COUNT BEFORE TAKING ACTION. THIS 2005 MUSTANG WAS BOUGHT USED ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS WE NOTICED THE MESSENGER SIDE FLOOR WOULD BE WET WHEN IT RAINED. SOON AFTER THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE REPAIR. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE HEAT AND AIR CONTROL UNIT WENT OUT. THESE TWO REPAIRS COST OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX. ON OCTOBER 102015 WHILE AT THE DRIVE UP TELLER AT A BANK THE CAR WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. TRIED SHUTTING IT OFF BUT WOULD NOT RESTART. SEEMED TO HAVE COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. NO LIGHTS GAUGES OR ANYTHING ELECTRICAL WOULD WORK. IT WAS RAINING. AFTER JUMPING THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME. WE INSPECTED THE ECU AND FOUND GREEN AND WHITE CORROSION INDICATING WATER HAD BEEN GETTING INSIDE THE BOX. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY TOOK A REPORT BUT SAID THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS THERE WAS A RECALL. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED TSB 07-14-6

FUEL GAUGE READING PAST EMPTY, WILL NOT SHOW ANY CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. OTHER GAUGES SHOWING SAME SIGNS OF FAILING. INTERNET HAS MANY COMPANIES THAT WILL FIX THE GAUGE CLUSTER, SO IT MUST BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MUSTANGS. ALSO THE LED DAYTIME LIGHTING ON THE DASHBOARD GAUGES IS VERY LOW NOT ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER OR OTHER GAUGES.

SLOWLY OVER TIME ALL THE ELECTRICAL HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES THE CAR WON'T START, ALL THE GAUGES STOP WORKING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF FOR NO REASON. ALSO THE DRIVER SEAT ELECTRICAL FAILED, WAS REPLACED AND FAILED AGAIN. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED.

SINCE ABOUT A YEAR AGO, NOVEMBER 2013, THIS VEHICLE HAS SHOWN MULTIPLE ISSUES. TO START, IT IS AN AUTOMATIC 05 MUSTANG WHICH, THE MORE I READ ONLINE, THE MORE THAT I SEEM TO FIND THAT MANY HAVE THESE EXACT SAME OR VERY SIMILAR ISSUES. INITIALLY THE DASH CLUSTER (EVERYTHING BESIDES THE TACHOMETER) WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD GET STUCK AT 20 MPH BUT STILL MOVE ACTING AS THOUGH THE 20 MPH WAS THE 0 MPH MARK (SO 35 MPH = 15 MPH). MORE RECENTLY THE GAS GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING, IT SITS AT EMPTY EVEN AFTER PLENTY OF GAS HAS BEEN PUT INTO IT. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ALSO GETS STUCK OFTEN, STILL MOVING AS THE SPEEDOMETER DOES. NOT TOO LONG AFTER THESE ISSUES STARTED OCCURRING, WHEN I WENT TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK IT WOULDN'T TAKE THE GAS AS IT NORMALLY WOULD. SOMETIMES ONLY A COUPLE DOLLARS WORTH WOULD BE IN BEFORE IT CLICKED OFF. AFTER PAYING CLOSER ATTENTION I HAVE ALSO NOTICED SOMETIMES GAS ACTUALLY SPLASHES OUT WHEN FILLING IT UP EVEN THOUGH IT IS DEFINITELY NOT FULL. MUCH MORE RECENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS WORRYING ISSUES. AT ONE POINT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED TO DECELERATE ON ITS OWN, EVEN WHILE I WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I PULLED IT OFF TO THE SIDE, SHUT IT OFF COMPLETELY, STARTED IT UP AND IT WAS AS THOUGH NOTHING HAPPENED. EVER SINCE THAT INCIDENT THOUGH IT HAS BEEN RUNNING A BIT LOUDER AND NOW IT SEEMS A POSSIBLE MISFIRE IS HAPPENING WITH ONE OF THE CYLINDERS OCCASIONALLY. PRIMARY PROBLEM IS FAULT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSES INTERMITTENT AND INCREASINGLY INOPERATIVE PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS, LOSING ALL STEERING AND CONTROL; CONVERTIBLE TOP OPENING AND CLOSING; WINDOWS OPENING AND CLOSING BY THEMSELVES BUT NOT WHEN DESIRED; AND DASH GAUGES NOT WORKING, INDICATING RANDOMLY AND LITERALLY OFF THE CHART, OR SPECTRUM, IF YOU WILL. IN 2010 OR THEREABOUTS THE OTHER GAUGES QUIT WORKING. THE WARNING LIGHTS STILL WORK AND THE SPEEDOMETER/TACHOMETER COME ON FEEBLY FOR A FEW MINUTES WHEN YOU FIRST START DRIVING THE CAR THE GAS AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NEVER CHANGE AT ALL. I USED THE LOW FUEL LIGHT FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS TO TELL WHEN I NEEDED GAS AND HAVE HAD NO IDEA HOW FAST I WAS GOING MOST OF THE TIME. APPARENTLY THIS IS SO COMMON THERE IS A COTTAGE INDUSTRY PROVIDING A REBUILD OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR THESE CARS MUCH MORE CHEAPLY THAN FORD. ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS FAR OUT OF WARRANTY (254,000 MILES AND STILL RUNNING GOOD) I THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP TO REPORT THIS ISSUE SINCE IT APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO SO MANY OF THESE CARS. AFTER THE LEAVING THE CAR TURNED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS MY TWO TEENAGE DAUGHTERS, AGE 17 AND 15, GOT IN THE CAR TO DRIVE HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE CAR SMELLED A LITTLE SMOKY. THEY DROVE DOWN THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES WHEN THE ELECTRICAL PANEL WENT DEAD, THEN THE POWER LOCKS BEGAN TO GO UP AND DOWN CONTINUOUSLY AND THE SMELL OF SMOKE BECAME MORE PROMINENT. AT THIS POINT, THEY BECAME VERY CONCERNED THAT THEY WERE GOING TO BE LOCKED IN THE CAR WITH SMOKE POURING OUT AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. SO THEY PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE CAR AND CALLED 911. AS SOON AS THEY GOT OUT OF THE CAR, SMOKE BEGAN BILLOWING OUT OF BOTH DOORS WHICH WERE LEFT OPEN. 5 MINUTES AFTER EXITING THE CAR, FLAMES WHICH REACHED TWO FEET HIGH, BEGAN COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. A PASSERBY OBTAINED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND TRIED TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES, THEN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND PROCEEDED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE COMPLETELY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE. THEY INDICATED THAT THEY THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED, WHICH WAS IN FACT THE CASE. CLEARLY, THIS WAS A VERY UPSETTING SITUATION FOR OUR ENTIRE FAMILY. WE FEEL BLESSED THAT THE GIRLS WERE ABLE TO GET OUT IN TIME, BUT ALSO UPSET AT THE THOUGHT OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THEY NOT ACTED IMMEDIATELY OR WERE NOT IN A POSITION TO DO SO. *TR

I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON SO I DIDN'T GET HIT FROM BEHIND OR CAUSE A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT TO THE OTHER MOTORISTS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, LEFT THE HAZARDS ON AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT UP AGAIN. IT STARTED THANKFULLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT SAFELY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. EVENTUALLY SOMEONE WAS ABLE TO COME AND HELP ME GET MY CAR HOME. BASED ON INTERNET RESEARCH AND A DISCUSSION WITH AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP AND MY LONG TIME AUTO MECHANIC, THIS IS A PART THAT SHOULD NOT FAIL AT 73,000 MILES. WHILE FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL, THERE IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE DEFECT, AS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES REPORTED. WHEN A GAUGE (FUEL, TEMPERATURE, BATTERY, ETC) FAILS ON THIS VEHICLE, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MUST BE REPLACED. I HAD MY ALTERNATOR CHANGED, BUT IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND AFTER THAT IS WHEN MY OTHER GAUGES QUIT WORKING. SINCE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALMOST EVERY ONE MADE DURING THAT YEAR, YOU WOULD BELIEVE THAT FORD WOULD NOT WANT TO TARNISH THEIR NAME BY NOT ISSUING A RECALL. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A FORD, BUT MY FAMILY HAS RECENTLY CHANGED TO DIFFERENT MAKES AND I WILL DEFINITELY CONSIDER CHANGING AFTER THIS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FULL OF GASOLINE. I'M WRITING TO YOU ABOUT MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG AND THE ISSUE WITH IT'S INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR, JUST SEARCH "2005 MUSTANG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" ON GOOGLE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN. EVIDENTLY THE MOTORS IN THESE CLUSTERS, WHICH OPERATE YOUR INSTRUMENT DIAL NEEDLES, FAIL REGULARLY. MY CAR IS A 2005, WITH 55,000 MILES ON IT. SERVICED REGULARLY AND WELL CARED FOR. FIRST, MY TACH STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. I FIGURED IT WAS COLD, AND IT ONLY DID IT SPORADICALLY, SO I LIVED WITH IT. HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS AFTER THE TACH STARTED ACTING UP, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. I DID NOT FEEL IT WOULD BE SAFE TO IGNORE THAT. SO I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM ON THE PHONE, AND THE FIRST THING THE SERVICE PERSON SAID WAS "IT'S THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOST LIKELY. $500-800 TO REPAIR. WHEN I GOT HOME, I STARTED RESEARCHING, INITIALLY JUST TO SEE IF I COULD FIND THE PART CHEAPER. THE GOOGLE SEARCH I DID PULLED UP ENTIRE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THAT'S WHEN I WENT FROM RESIGNED TO MAD. FORD IS PUTTING THE ONUS ON THE NHTSA TO INITIATE A RECALL. AND THEY SAID YOU WON'T DO IT IF SAFETY IS NOT EFFECTED. WELL I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT ME AND I'M SURE EVERY STATE TROOPER ON THE PLANET, WOULD CONSIDER A MALFUNCTIONING SPEEDOMETER TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I FIRST STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE TEMP GAUGE NOT WORKING. NOW WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE MY SPEEDOMETER AND RPM METER ARE NOT FUNCTIONING UNTIL THE CAR IS WARM ENOUGH. THIS FIRST HAPPENED IN FEB 2010 BUT JUST ONE TIME. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS COLD OUT AND MY SPEEDOMETER WENT FROM 0 TO 120 WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT THEN IT STUCK THERE AND DID NOT FIX ITSELF TILL THE LAST PART OF THAT DAY. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN EACH TIME IT IS COLD OUT THE SPEEDOMETER JUST STAYS BELOW ZERO AND SO DOES THE RPM UNTIL I DRIVE FOR 5 MILES OR SO. IT SEEMS TO ONLY BE HAPPENING WHEN IT IS COLD OUT ABOUT 65 AND BELOW WEATHER. TEMP GAUGE STILL NOT WORKING AND HAS BEEN POINTING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CLUSTER SINCE THEN. PERHAPS FORD HAS AVOIDED A RECALL BY STATING THIS DOES NOT EFFECT SAFETY OR EMISSIONS. HOWEVER, I GOT MY FIRST SPEEDING TICKET IN OVER A DECADE 2 DAYS AFTER THIS PROBLEM BEGAN. IT HAD RAINED IN THE DAY, BUT WAS NOT RAINING AT THE TIME. TURNED THE A/C ON AS THE GLASSES WERE FOGGY. DASHBOARD WARNING SYSTEM WENT OFF WITH ALL KINDS OF WARNINGS. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING LIGHTS, RADIO, LOCKS FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING OK. DROVE HOME AS IT WAS DURING THE DAY. THERE IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT THAT ALLOWS WATER LEAKAGE INTO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL/SMART BOX JUNCTION AND SUBSEQUENTLY INTO THE VEHICLE ITSELF. RESULTANT ISSUES INCLUDE THE INABILITY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE (FROZEN SHIFT), ELECTRICAL FAILURE WITH LOSS OF INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING VARIOUS GAUGES, BRAKE LIGHTS, VENTILATION/AC, POWER WINDOWS, AND HEADLIGHTS, AND PHYSICAL WATER DAMAGE (MOLD/MILDEW). FORD IS AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND LATER MODELS WERE REDESIGNED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE FLAW. HOWEVER, FORD REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFICIENCY, NOR WILL THEY PROVIDE ANY KIND OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH THE NECESSARY REPAIRS DIRECTLY CAUSED BY THIS DEFECT. SHOULD THE MUSTANG EXPERIENCE THE ABOVE MENTIONED ELECTRICAL FAILURES WHILE BEING DRIVEN, AN ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS SIMILAR INCIDENTS REPORTED ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE, AND FORD MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I SPOKE TO FORD "CUSTOMER SERVICE" ON 5/5/11 TO REPORT THE ISSUE AND REQUEST FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST, AND HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRM THE "DEFECT". I MADE A FOLLOW-UP CALL TO FORD "CUSTOMER SERVICE" ON 5/9/10 TO REPORT THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER DID CONFIRM THE DEFECT AND THAT HE HAD SEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, FORD SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE, WOULD NOT PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND THAT I WAS "MISINFORMED" BY MY INITIAL CALL TO FORD IN GIVING ME HOPE THEY COULD SOMEHOW HELP ME. ADDITIONALLY, THEY STATED THAT I "SHOULD NOT EXPECT MY FORD VEHICLE TO LAST BEYOND 100K MILES". IN THE MEANTIME, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TOWING, DIAGNOSTIC, AND REPAIR BILLS, SO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS PROFITING FROM THIS. THIS WAS OUR FOURTH FORD VEHICLE, AND IT WILL CERTAINLY BE OUR LAST.

THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AT FIRST THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FAILED TO WORK AND THE NEEDLE SHOWED THE TEMPERATURE COLD REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG THE CAR WAS RUNNING. NEXT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED, IT WOULD WORK ERRATICALLY AND SHOW FUEL FOR DAYS OR COMPLETELY GO IN 360 ROTATIONS UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. AND RECENTLY, THE SPEEDOMETER GAVE AND REMAINS STUCK AT 30 MPHS EVEN AT IDLE. I'VE BEEN ABLE TO LIVE WITH THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NOT WORKING, AND HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF MILEAGE TO DETERMINE MY FUEL REMAINING, HOWEVER, I DO NOT HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE TO JUDGE MY SPEED. MY 2005 FORD MUSTANG V6 HAS BEEN HAVING SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONS WEEKLY. THESE MALFUNCTIONS CAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER TO START AT NUMBERS THAT ARE NOT 0, RESULTING IN AN INACCURATE READING OF MY SPEED. IT READ 120 WHILE I MAY ONLY BE GOING 40 AND EVEN WHEN I SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE IT WILL REMAIN AT 40+. A TEMPORARY FIX IS TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSES THE NEEDLES TO SLOWLY DROP, BUT USUALLY IT WILL STAY OVER 20 FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME, AND WHEN I DO SUCCEED IN REACHING 0 WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN. I FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES, A FAULTY FIREWALL SEAL CAUSING WATER DAMAGE TO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX. I FOUND MANY FORD CONSUMERS ONLINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS TRULY A LIFE-ENDANGERING SITUATION. THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE DIALS OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD BEEN ERRATIC IN THE PAST WEEKS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. OBVIOUSLY, THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FOR MORE THAN FIVE WEEKS FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS CLAIMED TO HAVE NO INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

EVENTUALLY THAT DIDN'T WORK. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD STAY AT 10 OR 20MPH TILL THE CAR WARMED UP, THEN IT WORKED FINE. THEN IT STARTED STAYING AT 20MPH IF THE WEATHER WAS COLD. (AT NIGHT IT DIDN'T WORK, IN THE DAYTIME WHEN IT WAS WARMER OUTSIDE IT WORKED). NOW THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK AT ALL ANY MORE. ITS PERMANANTLY STUCK ON 55MPH EVEN WHEN THE CAR ISN'T RUNNING. FEBRUARY 1, SPEEDOMETER FAILS AGAIN. FEBRUARY 2, TICKING SOUND FROM BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS NOTICED WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND SPEEDOMETER FAILS. ON FEBRUARY 4, 2011, ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED, ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS REPORTED TRACTION CONTROL FAILURE, LOW BRAKE FLUID, LOW OIL PRESSURE, PARKING BRAKE ON, LOW FUEL WARNING, SEATBELT WARNING, ABS WARNING. WHILE DRIVING IN THE EVENING THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND FUEL GAUGES FAILED. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE GRADUALLY KEPT CLIMBING HIGHER ABOVE THE RED LINE. AN INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT REVELED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING AT NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THE FUEL GAUGE ALSO STARTED REGISTERING INCORRECT READING; GRADUALLY MOVING PAST THE FULL LINE EVEN THOUGH NO FUEL WAS ADDED. STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE CAUSED THE FUEL GAUGES AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES TO TURN CLOCKWISE (OR HIGHER). BOTH GAUGES CURRENTLY POINT DOWN AND ARE EFFECTIVELY USELESS. THE WATER LEAK COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE WHEEL WELL INTO THE FLOOR BOARD OF THE VEHICLE COMES INTO CONTACT WITH THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN WATER SEEPS INTO THE SJB, IT SHORT CIRCUITS THE MAJORITY OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDING: HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, A/C, INSTRUMENT PANEL, RADIO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, REAR DEFROSTER, WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER ITEMS. IF ALL THE CORRECT CONDITIONS PREVAIL, SUCH AS, NIGHT TIME DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND THE WATER SEEPS INTO THE SJB AND SHORT CIRCUITS IT, THE DRIVER IS LEFT IN THE DARK WITH NO LIGHTING, NO WIPERS, OR INSTRUMENTATION OF ANY TYPE. INITIALLY, THE TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING UNSURE OF THE DATE, EARLY 2009. 5-SPEED. REPLACED A FUSE THINKING THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WE PULL OVER AND CHECK UNDER THE HOOD; NO SMOKE, NO LEAKS, NO SMELL, EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL. WE DECIDE TO RETURN TO OUR HOUSE, PARK THE CAR UNTIL WE GET BACK TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE. THE GAUGE CONTINUED TO MOVE HOTTER SO WE RAN THE HEATER ALL THE WAY HOME. UPON OUR RETURN FROM THE WEEKEND TRIP, WE STARTED THE CAR AND THE GAUGE AUTOMATICALLY WENT TO HOT. NEXT DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. VEHICLE SO FAR HAS OPERATED FINE SO FAR. NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE CHIPS IN THE KEYS OR THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM HOWEVER IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON A REMOTE ROAD OR HIGHWAY IT COULD VERY WELL HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAD NO ELECTRICAL PERIOD INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS. THE BATTERY , ALTERNATOR , AND FUSES WERE ALL FUNCTIONAL. *TR

THE BATTERY IN MY 2005 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE HAS GONE DEAD TWICE. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THIS, TSB 07-5-13 WHICH SAYS TO TELL THE OWNER TO BUY A BATTERY CHARGER. THIS TSB APPLIES TO 2005-2008 MUSTANGS, 2005 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC, 2005-2008 EXPEDITIONS AND EXPLORERS, 2007-2008 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC, 2005-2008 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR AND THE 2005-2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A CONSTANT DRAIN ON THESE CARS THAT DRAINS THE BATTERY UNLESS THE CAR IS DRIVEN BASICALLY EVERY DAY. THEY REFUSE TO EVEN REPLACE THE BATTERY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN LIGHT RAIN, I EXPERIENCED A TOTAL FAILURE OF MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO, TRUNK RELEASE, ETC. AT THAT POINT, ALL WARNING INDICATORS LIT UP ON DASH. I PULLED OVER, PUT THE CAR IN "PARK" ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT, WHILE THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES CONTINUED, I COULDN'T GET THE CAR OUT OF "PARK". AFTER ~ 10 MINUTES THE ELECTRIC SYSTEMS CAME BACK ONLINE, BUT THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT REMAINED ON. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS A WATER LEAK. THERE ARE NUMEROUS POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE AND REFUSED TO FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT'S A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH MY CD PLAYER (SHAKKER 500) I HAVE HAD SIX STEREOS IN THE CAR AND ALL SIX HAVE DONE THE SAME THING. THEY WILL MAKE HORRIBLE NOISES, SAY BAD DISK OR DISK ERROR OR NOTHING AT ALL BEFORE IT STARTS SPITTING OUT THE CD'S. IF I DO NOT GRAB THE FIRST CD, IT WILL SPIT OUT ALL SIX. I HAVE HAD AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTION OF THE CAR TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL IT IS THE STEREO. THE INSPECTION STATES THAT THE VOLTAGE IS DROPPING IN THE CAR WHICH SENDS THE STEREO INTO AN ERRATIC STATE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYS THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEIR SOLUTION IS TO KEEP PUTTING STEREO'S IN THE CAR. I JUST HAD A "BRAND NEW" STEREO INSTALLED ON APRIL 26, 2006. THIS WAS TO BE FORD'S FINAL ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE STEREO WENT CRAZY AGAIN TWICE ON FRIDAY APRIL 28, 2006. I HAVE REPEATEDLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CAN'T KEEP TAKING MY ATTENTION FROM MY DRIVING TO CATCH CD'S. I WANT A RESOLUTION AND I AM NOT GETTING IT WITH FORD. I HAVE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE BATTERY FAILURE TWICE ON MY NEW FORD MUSTANG. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT GIVE ME A GOOD EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH. THIS IS NO ANSWER. THEY TRIED TO SELL ME AN UNDER THE HOOD POWER DISCONNECT APPARATUS. I SAID NO AS THIS WOULD MAKE ME RESET ALL OF MY RADIO AND CLOCK SETTINGS EVERY TIME I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. I DON'T DARE LEAVE MY CAR IDLE FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME AS THIS WILL PROBABLY LEAD TO ANOTHER POWER FAILURE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 1,100 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED. NO NEW CAR SHOULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *JB

DT: 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT -HAD AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. WHILE TURNING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY INTO A RESIDENTIAL AREA THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIEDBUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE FRONT BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A CLOCK WISE SPIN. THE CAR TURNED ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THEN HIT A TREE. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS STILL ACTING STRANGE, THE TRUNK OPENED AND TRYING TO CLOSE IT BACK DOWN THE LIGHTS CAME OFF AND ON. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. THE VEHICLE HAD $6,300 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT ASSIST THE CONSUMER WITH ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 29, 2005 AS A NEW VEHICLE WHICH ONLY HAD 72 MILES ON IT. UPON IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH DID NOT ACTIVATE.
