I WAS PULLING OUT OF WORK ONTO A BUSY STREET WHEN CAR WENT INTO IDLE MODE BECAUSE OF THE THROTTLE BODY DRIVE BY WIRE SYSTEM.THERE WAS NO INDICATION ANYTHING WAS WRONG OR ABOUT TO GO WRONG. GOD WAS REALLY LOOKING OUT FOR ME ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY BECAUSE THE CARS THAT WERE ON THIS BUSY ROAD WASN'T IN A HURRY LIKE THEY NORMALLY ARE AND I AVOIDED A (T-BONE)COLLISION. IT REALLY SCARED ME AND I HAVEN'T DROVE THE CAR ANYMORE AND IT'S FOR SALE. I THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE REPORTED AND I WILL TELL WHOEVER BUYS THE CAR WHAT HAPPENED UPFRONT. I'M NOT WILLING TO RISK IT DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I SWITCHED THE KEY OFF AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND DROVE IT 40 MILES HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AND IT WILL NEVER BE DRIVEN BY ME AGAIN.

MY 05 V6 MUSTANG'S INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS GOING OUT. THE TACTOMITER STAYS AT ZERO AT ALL TIMES AND THE SPEEDOMITER VARIES. AT TIME MY SPEEDOMITER ACTS NORMAL THEN IT WILL GO BELLOW ZERO. MY SPEEDOMITER WILL FIX ITS SELF AFTER 10 - 15 MINUTES OF THE CAR BEING TURNED OFF. I HAVE NOTICED, ON THE INTERNET, THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY EXACT YEAR MODEL EVEN IF THEY HAVE REALLY LOW MILAGE. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING IS QUITE THE SAFTEY HAZARD. THROTTLE BODY FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING AT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN IT FAILED, THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO IDLE MODE WHICH MADE IT VERY DANGEROUS TO AVOID TRAFFIC AS I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. THE CAR MOVED AT NO MORE THAN 5MPH! THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LOCATED INSIDE THE VEHICLE STOPPED READING PROPERLY. AT FIRST I WAS NOT ABLE TO READ MY RPM'S GAUGE AS IT WAS SHOWING I WAS IDLING AT 3,000 WHICH WAS INCORRECT AS I CAN HEAR MY ENGINE. THEN MY OIL GAUGE BEGAN READING PAST FULL. BOTH OF THOSE ISSUES FIXED THEMSELVES (UNSURE OF HOW OR WHY) AND THEN MY SPEEDOMETER GAUGE WENT BAD. NOW THE NEEDLE IS POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN REGARDLESS OF HOW FAST OR SLOW I AM GOING. THIS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF ON THE ROAD AS I CANNOT GAUGE MY SPEED. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT OTHERS WITH THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR OF MY CAR ARE EXPERIENCING AND SHOULD BE FIXED WITH A RECALL.

THROUGH RESEARCH AND TALKING TO OTHERS DETERMINED THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY (DRIVE BY WIRE) A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SOME FORD VEHICLES. TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE SERVICE PERSON WE SPOKE TO TOLD US IT WOULD BE COVERED BY FORD'S EXTENDED WARRANTY IN RESPONSE TO CSP 13N03. TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY FOR APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THAT EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 DID NOT PERTAIN TO A MUSTANG. DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT TO US THAT OUR CAR WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHEN RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT MUSTANG'S HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME "DRIVE BY WIRE" SYSTEM. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT SO I LET IT GO AND EVENTUALLY THE PEDAL KICKED BACK 3. IN EARLY MAY, DID IT AGAIN DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION ON A SURFACE ROAD, THIS TIME I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL, TURNED TO A SIDE STREET TO STOP, PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. UPON RESTART, IT WAS OK RETURNED CAR TO DEALER ON MAY 9, LEFT CAR FOR A WEEK. THEY SAID 2 THINGS, THEY AGREED THE FLOOR CARPETS WERE NOT AT FAULT AND WHEN ONE WAS AVAILABLE, THEY WOULD PUT SOME SORT OF RECORDER DEVICE ON THE CAR THAT I WOULD ACTIVATE ONLY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. TODAY IS JULY 28, 2012 AND THEY HAVE NOT PRODUCED THE DEVICE. OCCASIONALLY, WHEN ROAD CONDITIONS ARE OK, I TRY TO TRIGGER THE CONDITION, BUT IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. I'M NOT A BELIEVER THAT MECHANICAL THINGS FIX THEMSELVES I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE ARTICLES ON THE INTERNET ABOUT SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2005-2006 MUSTANGS AND ALSO FORD RECALLS OF OTHER MAKES/MODELS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS REGARDING ACCELERATOR PEDALS AND AUTOMATIC SPEED CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING RAPID ACCELERATION NEEDLESS TO SAY, I DRIVE THE CAR WITH MUCH CAUTION AND A LOT LESS ENJOYMENT. *TR

EXAMPLES INCLUDE MY FUEL LEVEL WILL READ AT HALF A TANK WHEN I WILL ACTUALLY BE NEAR EMPTY, THE MORE PRESSING ISSUE HOWEVER, IS THAT MY SPEEDOMETER KEEPS GIVING ME INCREADIBLY INACCURATE READINGS, SAYING I'LL BE GOING 90 MPH, WHEN I'LL REALLY BE GOING 20, OR SAYING THAT I'M CONSTANTLY GOING WELL OVER 150MPH...EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WILL BE PARKED AND TURNED OFF. I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER 2005 MUSTANG OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND BEING TOLD THEY ARE HAVING TO PAY ANYWHERE FROM $500-600 FOR THE REPAIR WHEN IT IS CLEARLY FORD MOTOR'S FAULT. IT'S EXTREMELY INCONSISTENT, SO DETERMINING THE CORRECT SPEED IS DIFFICULT TO DO. THE SPEED WILL DISPLAY BOTH, HIGHER THAN ACTUAL SPEED AND LOWER THAN ACTUAL SPEED WITHOUT RYHME OR REASON. ADDITIONALLY THE NEEDLE MOVES IN A SPORADIC BEHAVIOR, LIKE A SECOND HAND TIC ON A CLOCK, RATHER THAN A SMOOTH CONSISTENT FLOW. AT LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED GENE MESSER FORD AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $99 JUST TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT APPEARS THAT THE CLUSTERS ON THESE VEHICLES WERE NOT MADE TO LAST. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT NOT KNOWING YOUR SPEED. MY VEHICLE BEGIN WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM JUMPING AROUND AND NOT DISPLAYING RIGHT SPEED AND THEN JUST STOP WORKING! WE HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR AND IT IS STILL NOT WORKING. WHILE TURNING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY INTO A RESIDENTIAL AREA THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIEDBUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE FRONT BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A CLOCK WISE SPIN. THE CAR TURNED ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THEN HIT A TREE. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS STILL ACTING STRANGE, THE TRUNK OPENED AND TRYING TO CLOSE IT BACK DOWN THE LIGHTS CAME OFF AND ON. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. THE VEHICLE HAD $6,300 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT ASSIST THE CONSUMER WITH ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 29, 2005 AS A NEW VEHICLE WHICH ONLY HAD 72 MILES ON IT. UPON IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH DID NOT ACTIVATE. DT: WHILE BACKING CAR INTO GARAGE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT IT IN DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD A BIT WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME. WITH SLIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE AND EASE THE ENGINE REVVED AND LUNGED FORWARD AND STRUCK THE RIGHT SIDE ON DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR INTO THE SIDE THE GARAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET CONTROL OF VEHICLE BY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES AND PUTTING IGNITION INTO PARK WHICH STOPPED THE ACCELERATION. HAD TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, WHO DID A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK WHICH REPORTED NO CODES OR FAILURES. THE CAR WAS IN DEALER 2 DAYS WITH NO REPAIRS, NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED AND CONFIRMED BY FORD DEALERSHIP. PROBLEM 2: STARTED VEHICLE, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PUT IN REVERSE AND HEARD A STRANGE NOISE AND BLUE SMOKE OUTSIDE PASSENGER WINDOW. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS "BURNING RUBBER" PULLED SHIFT LEAVER BACK TO NUETRAL AND ENGINE RPM NORMAL. POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE PROBLEM ABOVE OR I COULD AHAVE HAD MY FOOR ON BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME BUT CAN NOT THAT EASILY.
