Accident after side swiping cattle guard, flew off the road at 70mph, landing roughly, and bouncing off desert terrain, trying to control crash outcome, realign no brakes, and no way to slow down vehicle, except no acceleration, and turned away from homes and power poles, to eventually slam into a a higher terrain, until complete stop. My repaired airbags didn't deploy, and at that speed, my passenger side wheels were shattered, tires flat, face hit the steering wheel and windshield, my knees hit dashboard, arms bounced off off everything the seat belt couldn't protect me from. Because of airbag failure to deploy, I ended up with 2 fractures, T9 and L1, 6 lose teeth making front teeth unable to use, and 2 cervical discs pushing into spinal column. I have Medicaid for insurance, and they will not do the surgery on my neck, so I have permanent nerve damage to my arms and hands, and the rest of my life to avoid any falls, or sudden injury to these areas so I can exist as a cripple, all because the safety equipment mandated by you, failed or was non existent. I had basic motor insurance coverage and no medical for me. What do you propose I do, with what's left of my car and my body parts, to continue existing in this life? Why have safety regulations when the equipment is knowingly defective, and costly, with no recourse in case something happens, before you as owner, are aware of it. I'm so pissed off to discover I own a vehicle, or paid for vehicle, that tried to kill me.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE TRIED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL PERFORMED AT AUTONATION FORD, SANFORD, FL. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THEY HAVE TO ORDER THE PART. I KEEP CHECKING BACK AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THEY STILL HAVE TO ORDER THE PART. MOST TIMES NO ONE ANSWERS THE SERVICE LINE AT AUTONATION FORD. NOW I'M RECEIVING SEVERAL AIRBAG RECALL NOTICES FROM FORD EACH WEEK. I TRIED THEIR 1-866-(XXXX) HELP LINE BUT CAN NEVER GET THROUGH. I TRIED THE CHAT ON THEIR WWW.FORDOWNER.COM WEBSITE BUT CANNOT GET THROUGH. THIS HAS BEEN AN EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING SITUATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE I'M TOLD I SHOULD NOT HAVE SOMEONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL IS PERFORMED. CALLED WITH THE FORD CUSTOMER CARE TEAM ON THE LINE AND THEY HUNG UP AND WOULD NOT PICK UP WHEN THE AGENT REDIALED THIS MORNING. SHE INSTEAD CALLED DICK SMITH FORD OF COLUMBIA WHO IS ALSO UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AND SAYS IT'S FIRST COME FIRST SERVER AT THE TOP OF EVERY MONTH. THE FACT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THE CAR, BUT ARE UNABLE TO ACTUALLY GET THE ISSUE ADDRESSED IS RIDICULOUS.

THE AIRBAG RECALL GROUP CONTACTED ME TO SET AN APPOINTMENT, WHICH I DID FOR AUGUST 17, 2018 BUT THEN SEEMINGLY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT WHEN I CALLED TO CONFIRM. THEY WANTED ME TO DRIVE 50 MILES TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR A CHANCE TO REPLACE IT.

I HAD IT CHECKED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEN LATER THEY HAD 2 SAFETY AIRBAGS RECALLS. AFTER I HAD THEM REPLACED THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME NONE OF MY AIR BAGS WOULD NOT WORK AS THERE WAS A DEFECTED DRIVERS SIDE SEAT AIR BAG THAT WAS DEFECTIVE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT AS IT WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST AND IT WOULD COST ANYWHERE FROM$1,500.00 TO $3,000.00 IT COULD COST MORE OR LESS THEY WOULDN'T KNOW TILL THEY GOT TO THE AIR BAG. EVER SINCE THEN THE MIDDLE OF THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOSE AND RATTLES UPON ACCELERATION. THE CAR CONSTANTLY DIES AND NEEDS TO BE JUMP STARTED EVEN AFTER REPLACING 4 NEW BATTERIES. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH CAR. I DON'T EVEN THINK THEY DID ANYTHING TO THE DRIVER AIRBAG. I'VE HAVE SENT OVER 15 COMPLAINTS TO NUMEROUS AGENCIES INCLUDING FORD WITH NO RESPONSE BESIDES A LETTER FROM FORD RECEIVED ON APRIL 13 SAYING THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WHICH IS A LIE! HENRY AT THE DEALER SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEM. THEY THINK THEY SHOULD BE THERE IN ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AND IT COULD BE UP TO A MONTH OR MONTHS BEFORE THEY RECEIVE THEM.

FORD HAS NOT HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE SINCE THE RECALL. IT IS A DANGER TO TRANSPORT ANY PASSENGERS KNOWING THAT THEIR AIRBAG IS RECALLED AND CAN CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING INJURY. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS CURRENTLY DISABLED.

THEIR SAME ANSWER HAS NOT CHANGED THROUGH MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS OVER THAT TIME, SAYING THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND THAT IT IS A REGIONAL SHORTAGE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. CONSUMERREPORTS REPORTED IN NOVEMBER 2017 THAT "NHTSA SAYS EARLIER AIRBAG SHORTAGES HAVE LARGELY BEEN RESOLVED.". THAT WAS 6 MONTHS AGO AND I AM STILL WAITING. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE ANY PASSENGERS.

I CALLED CROSSROADS FORD IN SOUTH POSTON, VIRGINIA AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AS THEY HAVE NO AIRBAGS. I FEEL I CAN'T DRIVE THIS CAR WITHOUT REPLACING THE AIRBAG. FORD HAS LIED ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT AND SHOULD CORRECT THE INFORMATION THEY SENT.

THE NOTIFICATION STATED THAT IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS, IT CAN RESULT IN THE DEATH OF THE PASSENGER. I HAVE RECEIVE FOUR FORM RESPONSES TELLING ME THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THIS ISSUE "IS IMPORTANT TO YOU", THAT I CAN CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE (THEY NOTICEABLY OMITTED THE WORD 'SAFELY') AND THAT "THE VOLUME AND SCOPE OF THE INDUSTRY-WIDE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALLS HAVE CREATED UNIQUE REPLACEMENT PARTS CHALLENGES". I GET IT, BUT IT'S BEEN SEVERAL YEARS. I DIDN'T BUY AN AIR BAG INFLATOR FROM TAKATA, I BOUGHT A MUSTANG FROM FORD. FORD SHOULD BE GOING TO ALTERNATIVE PROVIDERS FOR THIS PART. THEY ARE, CLEARLY, PUTTING THEIR INTERESTS AND PROFITS BEFORE THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. I'M NOT OKAY WITH THIS. IN FACT I'M OUTRAGED BY IT. I'VE HEARD ENOUGH FROM FORD'S "CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES". I'D LIKE MY CAR FIXED SO IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. PERIOD. OR, THEY CAN REPAY ME MY $35,000. TAKATA RECALL: NOTHING HAS HAPPENED (YET), BUT I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS, WHICH POSE A DANGER TO ANY PASSENGERS IN THAT SEAT AND THAT THE RECALL IS FROM JUNE 2016. THIS IS OVER ONE YEAR NOW AND I CONTACTED MY FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND THAT FORD HAS NOT PROVIDED A TIMELINE FOR THE SHOP IN THE NEAR FUTURE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAGS. I AM SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR A LETTER, WHEN I WAS NOT EVEN INFORMED IN JUNE 2016. I ONLY FOUND OUT NOW, BECAUSE WE RECEIVED A NOTE IN THE MAIL THAT TAKATA IS RESTRUCTURING / FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION AND THAT WE MAY NEED TO FILE OUR CLAIM WITH THEM BY DECEMBER 27, 2017. SO, THEY ARE GETTING OFF THE HOOK AND FORD HAS NO TIMELINE. MEANWHILE, WE ARE DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WITH NO MEANS TO FIX IT OURSELVES.

I CHECKED WITH MY FORD DEALER ON RECALL FIX STATUS ON JULY 2017 AND AGAIN ON OCTOBER 2017. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR THAT THE RECALL WAS IDENTIFIED AND THERE IS NO FIX YET. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING ANYONE (SPECIALLY MY WIFE) IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A FIXED DATE FROM FORD. I KNOW OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES OF EQUAL AGE THAT HAVE HAD BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED, YET ONLY THE DRIVER HAS BEEN REPLACED IN MY FORD. I AM IN A HIGH HUMIDITY ZONE AND WOULD LIKE TO GET MY VEHICLE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED IN A TIMELY MANNER. I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS BEING GREATLY DISMISSED.

TAKATA RECALL. WE RECEIVED OUR RECALL LETTER IN JUNE OF 2016 FOR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT. WE WAITED A YEAR AND CALLED FORD IN JULY OF 2017. THEY SAID THAT TAKATA WAS OUT OF BUSINESS AND THEY WERE HIRING ANOTHER COMPANY TO MAKE THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS. WE JUST CALLED AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2017 AND STILL NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL BE REPAIRED. THEY ALSO TOLD US THAT WE COULD NOT DISABLE THE AIR BAG. SO NO ONE CAN RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, UNLESS YOU WANT TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH YOUR LIFE. WE WAITED OVER A YEAR FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG TO BE REPLACED, SO WE ARE COMING UP ON 3 YEARS THAT WE COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR OR HAD LIMITED USE BECAUSE NO ONE IS ABLE TO RIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITHOUT PUTTING THERE LIFE IN DANGER.

MY DEALER PREFORMED THE RECALL ON THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG BUT FOR 2 YEARS HAS BEEN TELLING ME FORD HAS NOT SENT THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL. I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG REPAIR COMPLETED. ON 8/25/17 I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY. THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HAD THE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL GET THEM. I WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT ON SUNDAY OF LAST WEEK. WHILE IN THE RIGHT-HAND LANE OF INTERSTATE 95 IN BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, MY 2008 MUSTANG WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY AN APPARENTLY SPEEDING MOTORIST. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH AND ACCELERATING TO ACHIEVE PACE WITH THE OTHER CARS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR, AND PROPELLED FORWARD STRIKING A MINIVAN IN FRONT TO ME. I WAS PUSHED OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE SEA GRAPE STAND, AND THEN STRUCK ONE OF THE POSTS ON A HIGHWAY INFORMATION SIGN. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. (SEE THE PHOTO) NEITHER AIRBAG IN THE CAR DEPLOYED. I HAD RECEIVED NOTICES FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT MY CAR HAD TAKADA AIRBAGS IN IT, AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. I WAS NOTIFIED APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG WERE AVAILABLE. SO, I WENT TO THE AUTO NATION FORD DEALER AND GARAGE LOCATED ON LINTON BLVD, AND INTERSTATE 95 IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA TO HAVE THE BAG REPLACED. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF IN THE MORNING AND PICKED IT UP LATE IN THE AFTERNOON, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BAG HAD BEEN REPLACED. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR EVER SINCE WITH THE BELIEF THAT I HAD A NON-TAKADA FUNCTIONING DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. NEITHER THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED DURING THE ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, EACH OF THE OTHER THREE VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT HAD FULL DEPLOYMENT OF THEIR AIR BAGS.IT'S OBVIOUS THAT THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT IN MY CAR BY THE AUTO NATION FORD DEALERSHIP WAS DEFICIENT AND DID NOT MEET CRASH STANDARDS FOR DEPLOYMENT. I TRIED TO TRADE THE CAR IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO TAKE THE CAR IN ON TRADE BECAUSE THERE IS STILL NO FIX AND FORD WOULD NOT ALLOW THE RESELL THE CAR.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE SUMMER OF 2,015 FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATING THAT THEY HAD FOUND THAT MY 2008 MUSTANG V6 PREMIUM CONVERTIBLE WAS FOUND TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG AND THAT IF IT DEPLOYED, I COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED AND THAT IT COULD DEPLOY UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES EVEN IF THE CAR WERE NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY SAID I WOULD BE NOTIFIED TO TAKE MY CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER WHEN A REPLACEMENT WAS AVAILABLE. NHTSA RECALL 15V-319 STATES THAT IN CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR HOUSING MAY RUPTURE AND DEPLOY ABNORMALLY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE CAR, TASCA FORD ON PONTIAC AVE IN CRANSTON, RI WHO TOLD ME THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON THIS RECALL AND SUGGEST I CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. I CALL FORD AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WERE WORKING WITH THEIR SUPPLIERS TO OBTAIN PARTS TO REMEDY THIS UNSAFE SITUATION, AND THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THEY WERE READY TO HOPEFULLY REPAIR THIS DEFECT. I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM MCREE FORD IN DICKINSON, TEXAS IN 2008 AS A GIFT TO MY WIFE. THE PROBLEM ALL STARTED AFTER SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN OCTOBER 2010. DURING THAT ACCIDENT SHE WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE PERSON WHO HIT MY WIFE WAS TICKETED AS IT WAS THEIR FAULT FOR RUNNING THE RED LIGHT. THE CAR SUSTAINED APPROXIMATELY $6900 WORTH OF DAMAGE. WE HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT MCREE FORD'S COLLISION CENTER. BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP GAVE US THE CAR BACK, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE ERROR LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAGS TO GO OFF AND THAT IT WOULD BE A SHORT DELAY IN GIVING US THE CAR BACK. IT TOOK THEM APPROXIMATELY 3 DAYS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG AND THEY ASSURED US THAT IT WAS FIXED. NOW, ON MAY 2011, SHE WAS AGAIN INVOLVED IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT IN WHICH SHE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 -50 MPH WHEN MY WIFE "T-BONED" A TRUCK WHO RAN THE STOP SIGN AND GOT INTO HER LANE. SHE HAD NO CHANCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE SO SHE ENDED UP HITTING THE TRUCK. BECAUSE THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK, THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK WAS TICKETED. THE FRONT OF THE MUSTANG SUSTAINED APPROXIMATELY $9900 WORTH OF DAMAGE. MY WIFE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES (MINOR WHIPLASH AND A BRUISE ON HER LEG). THE REASON FOR MY LETTER IS THAT MY WIFE'S INJURIES COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER DURING BOTH ACCIDENTS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOW, WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE FROM MANUFACTURING OR IF MCREE FORD DID NOT REPAIR THE AIRBAGS CORRECTLY FROM THE ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED IN OCTOBER 2010. IT IS OUR BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE FROM MANUFACTURING GIVEN THE FACT THAT THEY DID NOT DEPLOY IN EITHER ACCIDENT AND ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL AND ALL THE INFORMATION WE RECEIVED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE FROM MCREE FORD, THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH BOTH FRONTAL AND SIDE AIRBAGS. I WOULD LIKE THIS MATTER INVESTIGATED AS I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT MODULE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED SINCE THE FORD DEALER WAS NO LONGER IN THE AREA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WARRANTY WAS VALID; HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS 900 MILES FROM HER RESIDENCE AND SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. WE HAVE A 04 F-150,A 04 GRAN MARQUIS AND DROVE AN EXPLORER,AND A TAURUS WHILE HER CAR WAS IN THE SHOP AND NEVER HAD THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO COME ON. FORD SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND FAULT WITH THE LIGHT, JUST THE PLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR BEING TO FAR TO THE FRONT OF THE SEAT.
