I bought the car on Dec 20th 2024. The dealership informed me of the recall and turned off the passenger side airbag. I returned to the dealership as scheduled about 2 weeks later. When I went to pick up my car after work the service center said they couldn't fix the problem because the airbag didn't exist and sent me on my way. I tried calling the sales person but had to leave a message. There has been no other communication.

I WENT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC IN MY CAR AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG I PAID FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY DID THE RECALL ON MY CAR THEN TIME PASSED AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HASN'T GONE AWAY EVER SINCE ALSO I HAD MY ELECTRICAL POWER RACK AND STEERING CHANGED MONTHS LATER FROM THE PREVIOUS VISIT! AND MY STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS ARE ON I LITERALLY HAVE THE AIR BAG ,STABILITY CONTROL ,AND ENGINE LIGHT ON ! I DON'T GET IT I DO OIL CHANGE ON TIME I CHANGE MY BRAKES I KEEP MY CAR WELL MAINTAINED AND KEEPS GETTING WORSER ! I ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND SPUN OUT ON THE HIGHWAY THANK GOD I DID NOT CRASH OR CAUSED DAMAGES TO THE CAR IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD I COULD OF DIED OR BEEN HURT !

TAKATA RECALL - I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT DURING RUSH HOUR ON A BUSY CITY STREET. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND BEFORE I MADE IT 10 FEET THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES. I HIT HIM FROM BEHIND, IT WAS A VERY MINOR IMPACT BUT MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND EXPLODED/RUPTURED OVER MY LAP. IT SHATTERED MY IPHONE AND BURNED MY LEFT LEG ABOUT 6 INCHES ABOVE MY KNEE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE FRONT END OF MY CAR I SAW VIRTUALLY NO VISIBLE DAMAGE, ONLY A 2CM PAINT CHIP AND A VERY SLIGHTLY BENT LICENSE PLATE. MY CAR DRIVES PERFECTLY, THERE ARE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EXCEPT FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT I AM DEALING WITH A FAULTY DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG. I ALSO WANT TO ADD THAT I ALREADY HAD MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO.

THEY ONLY SENT ONE FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG , UNTIL THIS WEEK WHEN I RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAGS FROM THE DAY I TOOK HER OFF THE LOT. I WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY FRONT END SUSPENSION IS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND IN FRONT AND IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE THE FIRST DAY, I EVEN HAD HER LOOKED AT TO MAKE SURE SHE WASN'T DAMAGED, WITHIN MINUTES THEY CAME BACK AND SAID SHE'S FINE NO PROBLEMS AND WHY MY TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT TO HIGHER GEARS FROM 1ST THRU OVERDRIVE, SHE BOGS DOWN LIKE THERE ISNT ANY FUEL GETTING TO HER ENGINE AND SHE DOESN'T SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS PROPERLY, IF I HAD RECIEVED THE RECALLS IT WOULD OF BEEN IN IMMEDIATELY. MY TOP LEAKS WATER WHEN WASHED SO IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE ON THE INSIDE ESPECIALLY THE DOOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, YET FORD REFUSED TO HAVE THE TOP REDONE SINCE THEY FEEL IT'S JUST NORMAL WEAR YET ITS HAPPENED SINCE THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO WASH HER. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE AIR BAGS FOR PASSENGER SIDE RECALL AND WOULD ORDER ONE AND CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WHEN IT CAME IT. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AGAIN YESTERDAY ABOUT THE AIRBAG AND SPOKE WITH ANOTHER PERSON, A FEMALE IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I ASKED ABOUT SCHEDULING THE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT AND SHE LOOKED UP MY RECORD OF SERVIE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. ASTONISHINGLY, THE AIRBAG HAD NEVER BEEN ORDERED. THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ADVISOR CLEARLY COULD CARE A LESS IF THE BAG BLEW UP SPEWING SHRAPNEL IN MY PASSENGERS FACES, HOW GROSSLY NEGLIGENT. THE WOMAN SAID THEY WERE OUT OT AIRBAGS AND WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ONE AND SOMEONE FROM THE DEPARTMENT WOULD CALL ME BACK ABOUT IT AND ANOTHER UNRELATED ISSUE. INCREDIBLY, NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. IT IS CLEAR THIS DEALERSHIP IS ONLY INTERESTED IN HIGH DOLLAR REPAIRS TAKING UP APPOINTMENT TIMES AND COULD CARE A LESS ABOUT THE EXPLODING AIR BAG DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THEY SOLD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T CHARGE FOR IT. I THINK THIS NEGLIGENCE AND CONTINUOUS KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD IS POLICY. THE DEALER HAS A MONOPOLY AND IS THE ONLY FORD DEALERSHIP IN THE CITY SO THEY CAN USE THAT ADVANTAGE TO BULLY CUSTOMERS AND REFUSE TO REPAIR DEADLY DEFECTS. I THINK AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS IS WARRANTED TO SEE JUST HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE BEING GIVEN THE "OH WE'LL HAVE TO ORDER IT AND CALL YOU BACK TO SCHEDULE IT" LIE. THIS IS CLEARLY IMMORAL AND REFLECTIVE OF THE OWNER'S GREED AND INDECENCY. SINCE THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ADVISOR FAILED TO ORDER MY REPLACEMENT AIRBAG MORE TYPES OF CARS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE RECALL. IT IS PLAINLY EVIDENT THAT THE OMISSION BY THIS COMPANY IS AN UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICE SERIOUSLY DETRIMENTAL TO THE CONSUMER ACTING REASONABLY UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

THEY SAID THEY WOULD COME TO MY HOME (AS RECALL NOTICE NUMBER THREE AND FOUR SPELLED OUT) TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE BUT THEY DID NOT SHOW UP AS SET UP IN ADVANCE. THE DEALER IS GOLDEN CIRCLE FORD IN JACKSON TN (731-554-7142) AND THE SERVICE REP IS MELINDA. SINCE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT PERFORMING THIS RECALL I GUESS LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHER OWNERS I WILL NOT TRY TO GET THIS DONE. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY AND FORD IS NOT PUSHING THEM TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I THINK YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO START PUT GROWING FINES IN PLACE TO GET THEIR ATTENTION.

MY LOCAL DEALER IS FAIRWAY FORD IN PLACENTIA, CA WHICH IS 10 MINUTES AWAY. SINCE I RECEIVED THE LETTER UNTIL THIS DATE I HAVE CALLED THEM EVERY MONTH TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIR. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL FORD DEALERSHIPS TO HAVE MY TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL SERVICE AND THEY ALL SAY THERE ARE NO PARTS AND I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MONTHS TO GET AN AIR BAG PART. WHEN I CALL THE NATIONAL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, I GOT THROUGH THE PHONE TREE AND CHOSE TAKATA AIR BAG WHICH HUNG UP ON ME AFTER 5 MINUTES OF DEAD AIR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FROM AN AUTO MANUFACTURER WITH A RECALL ONGOING.

I CALLED THE SAFERCAR.GOV PHONE NUMBER REGARDING THE STATUS OF MY CAR'S TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL SINCE IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING MY CAR IS INDEED AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER OF MY CAR AT 1-800-392-3673. FOLLOWING THE PROMPTS, I WAS WAITING ON HOLD UNTIL MY TURN CAME UP BUT WAS EVENTUALLY CUT OFF; I HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES ENCOUNTERING THE SAME ISSUE. I AM FRUSTRATED AS TO THE TIME IT IS TAKING TO REPLACE THESE AIRBAGS WITH RECENTLY ANOTHER LIFE LOST TO FAULTY AIRBAGS. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO ENSURE THESE AIRBAGS ARE REPLACED QUICKLY!!!

I FIND THIS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I SAW ON THE NEWS THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER DEATH CAUSED BY THESE EXPLODING TAKATA AIRBAGS. I KNOW A MAZDA OWNER WHOSE CAR HAS BEEN CALLED IN 3 TIMES FOR THIS WORK. YET FORD ONLY SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS. WHY NOT DISARM THE AIR BAD AS AN INTRIM STEP, IF NOTHING ELSE. I CONTACTED THEM IN FEBRUARY AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PARTS? THE RECALL NOTICE 152S21/NHTSA RECALL 15V-319. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR. TAKATA RECALL - IN EARLY NOVEMBER 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY 2012 FORD MUSTANG WHEN I EXPERIENCED A MINOR FENDER BENDER, LESS THAT 10 MPH. SURPRISINGLY, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING MY PASSENGER, A YOUNG BOY WITH A STOMACH BAG AND OTHER ILLNESSES TO HAVE TO GET CHECKED IN THE HOSPITAL. THANK GOD HE WAS NOT INJURED BUT HE WAS VERY SHAKEN UP FOR MANY DAYS BECAUSE OF HIS AUTISM. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO BODYART COLLISION CENTER ((908-789-0330) TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS, WHICH THEY HAVE DONE. HOWEVER, THREE MONTHS LATER MY CAR IS STILL SITTING THERE BECAUSE, ALTHOUGH THEY WERE ABLE TO INSTALL THE PROPER AIRBAGS, FORD HAS NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO GET APPROVAL FOR A NEWLY DESIGNED REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD. SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE CALLED TO FIND AFTER MARKET DASHBOARD BUT NO ONE HAS THEM. FORD HAS ALSO STOPPED MANUFACTURING THEM, MOST LIKELY BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG RECALL. MY MECHANIC, MYSELF, MY MOTHER AND ANYONE ELSE I CAN FIND HAS CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE (HEATHER 866-631-3788, EXT. 7-7790, CASE NO. CAS8338404) AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "WE HAVE NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO GIVE YOU." NOW THEY NO LONGER RETURN CALLS. WE EVEN SENT AN EMAIL TO THE CEO BUT HAVE NOT EVEN RECEIVED AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE NO CAR, CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY ONE, AND AM LIVING WITH MY MOTHER SO THAT I CAN USE HER CAR FOR ERRANDS, EVEN THOUGH I NOW HAVE TO TRAVEL 40 MINUTES TO GET TO WORK. I PAY $1500+ MONTHLY RENT AND I CANT EVEN LIVE IN MY APARTMENT. THE FRUSTRATION IS OVERWHELMING. I ASK FOR ANY RELIEF FROM FORD -- HELP WITH RENTING A CAR, A REPLACEMENT CAR UNTIL THEY THE GOVERNMENT (I ASSUME NHTCA) APPROVES THE NEW DASHBOARD, EVEN A RESPONSE THAT HAS A LITTLE MORE MEAT THAN THE STANDARD RHETORIC FROM THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS RECALL THAT DETAILS THE POSSIBILITY OF A ABNORMALLY DEPLOYING DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH. I JUST SPOKE TO FORD (IT IS 23 FEBRUARY 2016 AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING) AND THEY INDICATED THAT THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS NECESSARY TO REPAIR THIS VERY SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. THERE RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY WERE STILL WORKING WITH THE SUPPLIER FOR THE PARTS. THAT IS EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE, GIVEN THE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS NATURE OF THIS MALFUNCTION. I REQUEST THAT NHTSA CONTACT FORD AND PRESSURE THEM TO ACCELERATE THEIR EFFORTS IN ACQUIRING THE NECESSARY PARTS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. NHTSA SHOULD FINE FORD FOR THEIR INACTION IN THIS MATTER. IT COULD BE A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH.

I LIVE IN FLORIDA (NOT GETTING ANY MORE HUMID THAN THAT), AND IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I RECEIVED MY RECALL NOTICE (MAY 2015). May 1, 2013 Crash

VEHICLE TURNED RIGHT FROM A STOP, ONTO A TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY. SHIFTING MANUALLY FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR, THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL (APPARENTLY DUE TO LOSS OF TRACTION BECAUSE THERE WAS A COATING OF FINE SAND ON THE TIRES). THE VEHICLE CROSSED 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC, AND IN DOING SO, WENT INTO A ROLL-OVER, REPORTS STATING THE VEHICLE ROLLED 4 TIMES, AND STRIKING A UTILITY POLL THAT STOPPED THE ROLL. THE UTILITY POLL WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BY THE WINDSHIELD PILLAR, CAUSING TERRIFIC DAMAGE AND CAVE IN. THE UTILITY POLL WAS BROKEN, ALMOST SNAPPED IN HALF (THE UTILITY POLE WAS REPLACED). WHILE THERE WAS NO PASSENGER OTHER THAN THE DRIVER, THE ONLY AIRBAG IN THE CAR THAT DEPLOYED WAS THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN. THE SEVERITY OF THE CRASH WOULD INDICATE THAT ALL OF THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, TO SHIELD THE DRIVER AND POTENTIAL PASSENGERS. DRIVER ALSO WENT INTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE STEERING WHEEL BAG NOT DEPLOYING. POTENTIAL BACK SEAT RIDERS SHOULD BE PROTECTED IN SUCH A DEVASTATING CRASH AS WELL. PHOTO EVIDENCE WOULD INDICATE ALL BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER HAD NOT DISENGAGED PASSENGER BAGS (DRIVER/OWNER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DISENGAGE PASSENGER BAGS). ON ONE OCCASION A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE CRASH, AN INFO LIGHT MESSAGE CAME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE OPERATING THE CAR, STATING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE OFF. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. I HAD NOT TURNED THEM OFF. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE MESSAGE HAD DISAPPEARED. 2012 MUSTANG IS A RENTAL VEHICLE FROM AVIS/BUDGET GROUP THAT I HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED TO REPAIR. IT WAS RENTED OUT AND RETURNED WITH ALL 4 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. CUSTOMER SEEMED TRUTHFUL. STATED THEY BLEW OUT WHILE AT FULL THROTTLE. DOESN'T REMEMBER SEEING ANYTHING IN HIS PATH. FELT A SIMULTANEOUS JOLT AS ALL 4 BAGS DEPLOYED. INSPECTION BY THE MIKE BROWN FORD IN GRANBURY, TX FOUND NO DAMAGE BEYOND A PLASTIC CHIN SPOILER WAS TORN, BUT IS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. ONLY PREVIOUS REPAIR WAS A SCRATCH THAT AVIS HAD REPAIRED ON THE FRONT BUMPER IN MAY 2011. WE HAVE A FULL REPORT AND PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE AT THAT TIME. THIS WAS MINOR DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE ORIGINAL BUMPER COVER WAS REPAINTED AND NO OTHER WORK WAS PERFORMED. NO TURNED BOLTS ON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THE PCM WAS SENT TO FORD IN DEAR BORN MI. WAS FOUND TO HAVE CRASH DATA IN IT, BUT NOTHING SEVERE ENOUGH TO BLOW AIRBAGS IN MY OPINION, ESPECIALLY SIDE AIRBAGS. EXPLANATION WAS "THERE WAS CERTAIN PARAMETERS THAT WERE MET". FORD REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM STATING THE CRASH DATA WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE DEPLOYMENT. MY COMPLAINT IS: HOW CAN THEY BUILD A VEHICLE THAT THE AIRBAGS CAN DEPLOY CORRECTLY WITHOUT AN IMPACT TO THE BODY OR UNDERCARRIAGE.
