Transmission seems to lose power while driving, the car will barely pull itself but the rpms increase if I accelerate. This has happened several times while driving and occasionally there are dash lights lighting and speedometer/gas gauge doesn’t work but that doesn’t happen every time. When it happens I pull over and shut it down and restart and it runs correctly until it happens again! I do a lot of highway driving and the car just “falling flat” on a multi-lane highway at 70+ mph is definitely a safety issue! I have taken it to my local fastlane shop and the car was driven but didn’t malfunction at that time. He advised me to try to drive it there if it happened again, but I have never been close to the shop at the times it happens or they are closed. There is no advance warning, it happens at various speeds and even on takeoff after stopping for traffic lights. I once was pulling into traffic when it happened and didn’t have enough power to get to my lane before it fell flat! Fortunately I could back up before getting hit by oncoming traffic.

Recently started having erratic shifting issues. Will downshift randomly out of nowhere while driving. Sometimes will just be stuck in 1st gear and won’t go anywhere until I pull over and shut off/start up again. Dangerous because I never know when it will do it. Might seem like everything is fine and then all of a sudden, it downshifts and loses power. Rpm’s rise but car has no power. Have to figure out how to get out of the way. As stated in ford’s “ Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02,” my 2012 has all the symptoms and I have DTC code P0731 but dealer refused to service my vehicle because it doesn’t show up with my VIN, even though it’s a 2012 and I clearly need my Molded Leadframe replaced.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the rear wheels locked up and the speedometer displayed 0 MPH. The vehicle started sliding sideways, causing the contact to almost lose control of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The contact then pulled into the nearest gas station, parked, and turned off the vehicle. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure reoccurred while driving 40 MPH. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer who informed the contact that they could not diagnose the vehicle as the transmission specialist was not available. The contact drove to his residence. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer where it was being diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V248000 (Power Train). Transmission unexpectedly slipped gear while driving at a steady pace in traffic. Caused RPMs to rev high and loud, with inability to control speed suddenly. Had to quickly pull over and turn off car. After waiting a few minutes, was able to restart car and continue driving without issue. This has happened 3-4 times now. Took to my local mechanic who stated there is an issue with a sensor inside the transmission. Spoke to my Ford dealer I purchased the car from, and was informed that this is a known issue occurring with many 2012 Form Mustangs, and they expect a recall to be announced shortly.

THE GETRAG MT-82 MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN MY MUSTANG HAS HAD A HISTORY OF SHIFTS THAT TAKE EXTRA EFFORT, CLUNKY SHIFT ENGAGEMENT, AND A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE FROM THE DRIVETRAIN UNDER THROTTLE APPLICATION, SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED 5 YEARS AGO. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AT A FORD DEALER, BUT THEY SAY NOTING IS WRONG. THE WHINE IS PRESENT EVERY TIME I DRIVE, THE OTHER ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT. IN THE MOST ODD INCIDENT THAT I HAD IN THE VEHICLE, I WAS IN 2ND GEAR UNDER THROTTLE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE WILDLY BACK AND FORTH, WITH A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY ON THE DATE, A FEW YEARS AGO FOR SURE. I HAVE TRIED TO REPLICATE THE EFFECT, AND IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW OTHER TIMES IN A LESS DRAMATIC MANNER, BUT NEVER QUITE LIKE THAT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, AND FEEL IT IS NOT VERY SAFE. I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. THEY ONLY SENT ONE FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG , UNTIL THIS WEEK WHEN I RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAGS FROM THE DAY I TOOK HER OFF THE LOT. I WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY FRONT END SUSPENSION IS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND IN FRONT AND IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE THE FIRST DAY, I EVEN HAD HER LOOKED AT TO MAKE SURE SHE WASN'T DAMAGED, WITHIN MINUTES THEY CAME BACK AND SAID SHE'S FINE NO PROBLEMS AND WHY MY TRANSMISSION DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT TO HIGHER GEARS FROM 1ST THRU OVERDRIVE, SHE BOGS DOWN LIKE THERE ISNT ANY FUEL GETTING TO HER ENGINE AND SHE DOESN'T SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS PROPERLY, IF I HAD RECIEVED THE RECALLS IT WOULD OF BEEN IN IMMEDIATELY. I NEVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT SCARED ME TO DEATH! THERE WAS LIGHT UP WRENCH SYMBOL ERROR WARNING. THE DASH TURNED RED AND ALL SPEED, FUEL LEVEL AND MILEAGE WAS BLANK. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND MADE SURE IT WAS ENGAGED. I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF. CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH WAS FINE. MY MUSTANG WAS MADE IN JANUARY 2012 AT THE FLAT ROCK ASSEMBLY PLANT. AS I BEGAN MY RESEARCH, I FOUND THE FORD RECALL 16S19. WHICH DESCRIBED EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN MY SITUATION. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP CALLED FORD FOR APPROVAL, THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT SHOWING IT AS AN EXPOSED VEHICLE. IT MANUFACTURE DATE, ASSEMBLY PLANT, TRANSMISSION TYPE ALL MATCH BUT SOMEHOW MY VIN WAS NOT SHOWING. I PAID $950 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FOR THE EXACT REPAIR THIS RECALL CALLED FOR. WHICH CORRECTED THE ISSUE. HOW IN THE HECK IS MY CAR NOT COVERED WHEN I KNOW IT HAD THE SAME TRANSMISSION MOLDED COVER ISSUE... PLEASE HELP ME. FORD THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIRS TO A DANGEROUS CONDITION.

OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. IT HAS DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN FROM DIFFERENT GEARS, IT HAS STAYED LOCKED IN GEAR ON SEVERAL GEARS AND IT HAS STAYED IN A HIGH GEAR WHILE STOPPED, SO IT IS VERY SLOW LEAVING A LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. NO TROUBLE CODES OR LIGHTS (MIL OR WRENCH) HAVE BEEN THROWN OR LIT UP DURING THE INCIDENTS. THE CAR SEEMS TO RIGHT ITSELF AFTER A FEW MINUTES. HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A LONG PERIOD AND IS COLD. TOOK THE CAR TO GLENN FORD IN NICHOLASVILLE, KY AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOING AND IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL THAT THEY PERFORMED (16N02/16S19) ON THE CAR BACK IN FEB 2017. THEY BRUSHED IT OFF AND SAID IT WOULD BE $110 TO LOOK AT THE CAR. WE SAID FINE. THEY HAVE HELD THE CAR FOR 6 DAYS AND SAID THEY DROVE IT AT LEAST 36 MILES AND "NOTHING HAPPENED". THEY SAID THERE ARE NO DTC/FAULT CODES, SO THE CAR IS PERFECTLY FINE. THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT PERFORM THE MOLDED LEADFRAME REPAIR OF THE RECALL BECAUSE THERE ARE NO FAULT CODES. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPLAINING OF THE SITUATION BECAUSE THE INFO ON THE NOTICE SAYS EITHER A FAULT CODE SHOWS UP OR THE CUSTOMER "REPORTS AN INTERMITTENT UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR". WELL, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE REPORTED BEFORE WE EVEN REALIZED ANYTHING ABOUT THE LEADFRAME PART OF THE RECALL. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE VEHICLE UNLESS THERE IS A DEFAULT CODE/DTC SHOWING. THEY WANT US TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL A FAULT CODE SHOWS (THUS POSSIBLY ENDANGERING OUR LIVES) AND THEN THEY WILL LOOK AT IT AGAIN. DOESN'T MEAN FIX IT, JUST LOOK AT IT AGAIN FOR ANOTHER $110. I HAVE A 2012 MUSTANG GT WITH 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT THE CAR AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CAR AT ABOUT 2,500 MILES. THE CAR AT THAT POINT HAD A DEALER RE-BUILT TRANSMISSION AND MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IT HAS 2ND THROUGH 6TH GEAR REPLACED DUE TO A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. SINCE THAT TIME I'VE HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THE CAR NOW HAS ABOUT 49,000 MILES. IN EARLY JANUARY, IT BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO 1ST GEAR. IT WAS VERY STIFF AND TOOK A LOT OF FORCE TO GET IT INTO 1ST. SHIFTING TO 2ND GEAR RESULTED IN A GEAR-MASHING SOUND. 3RD GEAR SOUNDED LIKE A LOUD CLUNK. 4TH THROUGH 6TH GEARS WERE FINE. THESE INCIDENTS BECAME WORSE AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE 2 DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS BY NOT BEING ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS IN TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN THE NORTH ATLANTA, GA AREA AND THEY LOOKED AT THE CAR. THEIR TRANSMISSION TECH BELIEVED IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SYNCHRONIZERS. THE TECH DID NOT BELIEVE HE HAD THE EXPERTISE TO WORK ON THIS ISSUE AND REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP. ON 1/14/16 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE 2ND DEALERSHIP AND THEIR TECH AGREED IT WAS THE SYNCHRONIZERS. THAT DEALERSHIP TOOK ABOUT 1 WEEK TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE ISSUE WAS NOT SOLVED; LOUD SOUNDS WERE COMING OUT OF THE REAR OF THE CAR. OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS, THEY'VE ORDERED NUMEROUS REPLACEMENT PARTS. AS OF TODAY, 2/9/16, THERE ARE PARTS THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE ETA FOR THE PARTS IS NOW 2/24/16. I'VE READ ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS WITH THIS SPECIFIC 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAVE HAD AND PERSONALLY CAN SAY IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY WARNING FOR THE DRIVER. VEHICLE TURNED RIGHT FROM A STOP, ONTO A TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY. SHIFTING MANUALLY FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR, THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL (APPARENTLY DUE TO LOSS OF TRACTION BECAUSE THERE WAS A COATING OF FINE SAND ON THE TIRES). THE VEHICLE CROSSED 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC, AND IN DOING SO, WENT INTO A ROLL-OVER, REPORTS STATING THE VEHICLE ROLLED 4 TIMES, AND STRIKING A UTILITY POLL THAT STOPPED THE ROLL. THE UTILITY POLL WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BY THE WINDSHIELD PILLAR, CAUSING TERRIFIC DAMAGE AND CAVE IN. THE UTILITY POLL WAS BROKEN, ALMOST SNAPPED IN HALF (THE UTILITY POLE WAS REPLACED). WHILE THERE WAS NO PASSENGER OTHER THAN THE DRIVER, THE ONLY AIRBAG IN THE CAR THAT DEPLOYED WAS THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN. THE SEVERITY OF THE CRASH WOULD INDICATE THAT ALL OF THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, TO SHIELD THE DRIVER AND POTENTIAL PASSENGERS. DRIVER ALSO WENT INTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE STEERING WHEEL BAG NOT DEPLOYING. POTENTIAL BACK SEAT RIDERS SHOULD BE PROTECTED IN SUCH A DEVASTATING CRASH AS WELL. PHOTO EVIDENCE WOULD INDICATE ALL BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER HAD NOT DISENGAGED PASSENGER BAGS (DRIVER/OWNER DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DISENGAGE PASSENGER BAGS). ON ONE OCCASION A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE CRASH, AN INFO LIGHT MESSAGE CAME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE OPERATING THE CAR, STATING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE OFF. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. I HAD NOT TURNED THEM OFF. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE MESSAGE HAD DISAPPEARED. I CONTINUED ON BACK TO WORK AND COMPLAINED TO MY CO-WORKER ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HOW I WAS BEGINNING TO BECOME AFRAID OF THE MUSTANG. WELL BECAUSE OF THE TRAFFIC YOU HAVE TO STOP AT ONE LIGHT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BRIDGE AND THEN AGAIN STOP TO GET THROUGH THE SECOND LIGHT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BRIDGE TO TURN LEFT. ANYWAY THERE WAS A LARGE SEMI-TRUCK HAULING ROCKS IN FRONT OF ME AND I STAYED BACK ABOUT 60 FEET SO AS NOT TO GET THE ROCKS ON NEW CAR. HE WENT DOWN TO THE OTHER LIGHT WHICH WAS RED AND STOPPED I WAS GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AGAIN AND STARTED TO BRAKE WAY BACK FROM HIM BECAUSE OF THE ROCKS AND THE RED LIGHT. AT TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ALLOW SHIFTING INTO 4TH ON THE FIRST TRY, AND THIS ALSO OCCURS FROM 4TH TO 5TH AT TIMES. A SECOND SHIFT ATTEMPT USUALLY WORKS BUT THERE IS THE LOSS OF GETTING UP TO SPEED IN EACH CASE. IN ADDITION, THE SKIP-SHIFT FEATURE OFTEN ENGAGES AT TOO LOW AN RPM RANGE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO 'LUG' WITH VERY LITTLE POWER. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT TWICE AS I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, SHIFT (BEING FORCED TO 4TH GEAR FROM 1ST BY THE SKIP SHIFT) AND LOSE POWER. ONCE, THE ENGINE DIED FOLLOWING THE SKIP-SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 4TH, CAUSING A SERIOUS RISK. AFTER HAVING THESE ISSUES WITH THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION, I FOUND MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET FORUMS AND THIS NHTSA SITE AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO ACTION TO ENCOURAGE FORD TO ADDRESS THIS WELL-KNOWN AND EXTREMELY WELL-DOCUMENTED ISSUE. THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE A WHINE. THEN NOISES ALSO CAME FROM THE REAR BRAKES I STARTED TO HEAR A LOT OF NOISE FROM THEM, LIKE THEY WERE STILL TOUCHING THE ROTORS. WHEN I GOT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I TOLD THEM ABOUT ALL THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING AND LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM. LATER THAT EVENING THE SERVICE CENTER SAID THE CAR WAS DONE. WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE SAME ISSUES WERE HAPPENING WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE BRAKES. I RETURNED TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER AND DROPPED OFF THE CAR AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. THE SERVICE CENTER KEEPS ON SAYING THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH ARE FINE, EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND THERE ARE NO OTHER REPORTED ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THE TRANSMISSION. SOUNDED AND FELT LIKE WHEN YOU RIDE OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF PAVEMENT OR A METAL GRATED BRIDGE. PROBLEM CONTINUED OFF AND ON AND I COULD NOT DUPLICATE. WHAT I DISCOVERED WAS WHEN I RAN THE CAR UP TO 2750-3000 RPMS THEN LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR I COULD FEEL AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION AND HEAR THE CAR RUMBLING. THE VIBRATION/NOISE WOULD STOP AS THE CAR DECELERATED TO ABOUT 2500-2000 RPM'S. SEVERITY OF VIBRATION/RUMBLING NOISE HAS RANGED FROM MILD VIBRATION/NOISE TO STICK SLAPPING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY AND VERY LOUD RUMBLING. CAR DOES THIS IN 1ST, 2ND, 3RD AND 4TH GEAR. IN A SERIES OF CONTACTS WITH FORD CSC I HAVE RECEIVED ADVICE ON HOW TO CORRECT THIS THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. ORIGINALLY THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT I SHOULD CONTACT CSC SO THAT THEY COULD AUTHORIZE THE DEALER TO DISABLE THE SLIP SHIFT FEATURE. HOWEVER THE CSC AT FORD SAID TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND HENCE THE CAT CHASING ITS TAIL BEGAN. THIS SHIFTER, FIRST USED IN THE 2011 VERSION IS GOING TO CAUSE A SERIOUS INJURY AT SOME POINT IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED BY THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES DELEGATED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CORRECTING THIS. I HAVE A 2012 MUSTANG V6 WITH THE GETRAG MT82 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION WITH THE KNOW ISSUE OF NOTCHY SHIFTING AND SOMETIMES NOT GOING INTO GEAR. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO ACTUALLY SHIFT GEARS. THERE CAN BE A LOT OF RESISTANCE AND ARE TIMES WHEN I HAVE TO FORCE THE CAR INTO GEAR OR SKIP THE GEAR COMPLETELY. THE TRANSMISSION IS GRINDING AND RESISTING CHANGING GEARS. ALSO, THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS WHILE THE CAR IS STILL IN GEAR. AND TODAY I FELT A GRINDING WHILE I HAD THE CLUTCH COMPLETELY DEPRESSED. THIS VIBRATION CAN AND DOES OCCUR UP TO 25 TIMES EACH DAY DURING MY 40 MILE COMMUTE. I HAVE STOPPED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND INQUIRED ABOUT ANY KNOW ISSUES AND WAS TOLD THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY. THE CAR HAS EXACTLY 5000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE OWNED MANY OTHER CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, SUCH AS TWO HONDA ACCORDS AND 2 TOYOTA CELICA'S. THESE TRANSMISSION ISSUES ARE OF GREAT CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY, THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND THE SAFETY OF OUR 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. DEALING WITH A SCREAMING CHILD IS VERY UNPLEASANT BUT EVERY PARENT BECOMES ACCUSTOM TOO (EVEN THOUGHT WE DON,T LIKE IT). I BOUGHT A 2012 MUSTANG GT PREMIUM IN APRIL. STARTING AT ABOUT 2000 MILES, MY CAR HAS HAD A LARGE "THUNK" WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, OCCASIONALLY CAUSING A "LOCK-OUT." USUALLY, THIS LOCKOUT OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS (I.E. UNDER 15 MPH) OR OCCASIONALLY WILL OCCUR WHEN STOPPED THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 3+ TIMES, WITH THE FIRST ACTION BEING A REPLACEMENT OF THE FLUID PER THE TSB. WHILE THIS IMPROVED THE ISSUE, IT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS DROPPED OFF, ONE OF THE SERVICE CONSULTANTS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE. I REMOVED THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I WAS GOING ON A LONG VACATION WITH THE CAR. AFTER DROPPING IT OFF THE THIRD TIME, THE ISSUE WAS RECOGNIZED AGAIN (AFTER MUCH DELAY). THE DEALERSHIP TESTED ANOTHER CAR OF SIMILAR MILES, WHICH WAS "NOTCHY" BUT NOT TO THE EXTENT OF MY OWN VEHICLE. REGARDLESS, IT WAS NOT FOUND TO BE "EXCESSIVE." I ESCALATED MY CLAIM THROUGH A FORD SERVICE REP WHO SUBSEQUENTLY CALLED AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NOT "EXCESSIVE" ENOUGH AND THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO THE EXTENT I EXPERIENCE. I PROCEEDED TO REQUEST A TEST DRIVE WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE SIMILAR FEEL, BUT NONE OF THE NOISE OR "LOCK-OUT." I EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ENGAGEMENT PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION WITH GEARS 1-3 EITHER UPSHIFTING OR DOWNSHIFTING PRETTY MUCH OUT OF THE GATE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE GEARS FAIL TO COMPLETELY SYNCHRONIZE WITH THE CLUTCH IN, RESULTING IN ANYTHING FROM A PARTIAL LOCK-IN, WHICH CAUSES THE GEARS TO GRIND, OR A COMPLETE FAILURE TO ENGAGE, WHICH REQUIRES A SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND REPEATED CLUTCHING TO GET A SYNCHRONIZATION TO OCCUR. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 1500 MILES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES ON A COMPLETELY RANDOM BASIS. I WAS AT A LIGHT MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A FOUR LANE ROAD. I WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LAND WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER TO MY RIGHT. THE LIGHT CHANGED AND WE BOTH STARTED MOVING. I TRIED TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND WAS NOT ABLE TO ENGAGE THE GEAR AND LOST SPEED. THE TRACTOR TRAILER HOWEVER CONTINUED WITH THE TURN AND HAD TO SLAM ON HIS BREAKS TO AVOID SIDE SWIPING MY CAR. IF THE DRIVER HADN'T REACTED, HE WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR. IF I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT AND HAD BEEN HIT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR WORSE. THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH SKIP SHIFT TECHNOLOGY HOWEVER THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE THAT LIGHTS WHEN IT IS ACTIVE DID NOT LIGHT. THIS CAR HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHICH SEEMS TO BE GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER WAS FOR THE NOISY CLUTCH/TRANS - THEY FELT IT WAS "LOUDER THAN NORMAL" AND AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THEM THEY FELT IT WOULD NOT BREAK DOWN. WITH THIS MOST RECENT ISSUE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR AND A NEAR-MISS ACCIDENT, I'M SCHEDULING THE CAR TO BE SERVICED. THIS IS IN MY OPINION PRIMARILY A MAJOR SAFETY FLAW AND SECONDLY A RED FLAG FOR DURABILITY FOR THE LIFE OF THIS DRIVETRAIN. A TRANSMISSION THAT IS GRINDING GEARS / GETTING LOCKED OUT OF GEARS AFTER A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES CAN'T LAST FOR WHAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY EXPECT A TRANSMISSION TO LAST FOR. OVER THE LIFE OF THE CAR, HOW MANY MORE SITUATIONS WHERE YOU NEED TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WILL ARISE. HOW MANY OF THOSE TIMES WILL THE TRANSMISSION NOT RESPOND? *TT

2012 MUSTANG V6 MANUAL 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. HARD TO SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR. STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON PCH AND TOPANGA CANYON WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD IN A BABY DAUGHTER IN THE BABY SEAT IN THE BACK BEHIND ME. I SAW A DRIVER BEHIND ME COMING IN TOO FAST. I STARTED PREPPING IF I HAD TO MOVE FORWARD INTO THE INTERSECTION THAT HAD NO TRAFFIC JUST IN CASE. WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED. QUICKLY I SHIFTED INTO 2ND AND SAW THE DRIVER SMASH THE BREAKS WHILE HIS TIRES WERE SMOKING AS HE WAS APPROACHING MY REAR END IN A SLIDE. CAR HAD ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE ME FORWARD 10 FEET AND AVOID A COLLISION. *TR

2012 MUSTANG GT 5.0 1.MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY, COULD NOT GET THE CAR IN 2ND GEAR. 2.THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. BRAND NEW 2012 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 302, 5.0L, MT82 6-SPD TRANSMISSION. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THIS CAR HAS A REVISED CLUTCH MECHANISM VS. THE 2011 MODEL YEAR. REGARDLESS, I'VE BEGUN TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES 2011 MODEL YEAR OWNERS REPORT. I'VE OWNED THE CAR LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AND WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES ON THE CAR AT A STOP LIGHT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO FIRST GEAR FULLY. THIS RESULTS IN A GRINDING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. NEARLY REAR ENDED, VEHICLE WAS AT A LIGHT AT THE END OF A FREEWAY RAMP AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE UNTIL THE CAR WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL AND RE-SHIFTED TO 1ST. 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD SHIFTS TEND TO BE HARD, ROUGH OR CLUNKY. ON OCCASION SHIFTS TO 5TH EXHIBIT A CLUNKY SENSATION AS WELL. AT 295 MILES WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR, YOU COULD HEAR THE SYNCHROS WINDING UP IN THE TRANSMISSION DURING THE ATTEMPT. LIKEWISE MOVING BACK TO FIRST, EVEN AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 5MPH IN THIS INSTANCE, RESULTED IN A ROUGH ENGAGEMENT AND SYNCHRO WHINE FROM THE TRANNY. DRIVING IN 2ND GEAR AT 20MPH AND PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN TO COAST RESULTS IN A RATTLING NOISE INTERMITTENTLY. THIS RATTLING JUST STARTED WITHIN THE LAST 50 MILES OF DRIVING. THE BUILD DATE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 3/31/2011. I'VE NOT YET REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO MY FORD DEALER BUT INTEND TO SHORTLY! VERY VERY WORRIED AT OVER $42,000 THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE VEHICLE I'VE EVER PURCHASED AND AM GRAVELY CONCERNED I MAY HAVE A LEMON ON MY HANDS. MY PREVIOUS MUSTANG WITH A 5 SPD MANUAL NEVER EXHIBITED THESE TENDENCIES. FORD MUST RESOLVE THE ISSUES THE MT-82 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY OR REPLACE IT WITH A PROPERLY DESIGNED ALTERNATE UNIT. I WON'T ENTERTAIN HAVING MY SPECIAL EDITION VEHICLE DAMAGED DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. LIKEWISE I UNDERSTAND THE FIX OFFERED TO 2011 OWNERS ONLY MAKES MATTERS WORSE, I REFUSE TO TRY ANYTHING THAT WILL WORSEN THE CURRENT SITUATION. I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2012 FORD MUSTANG GT COUPE (THIS SITE WILL NOT LET ME SELECT A 2012 MUSTANG FROM THE DROP DOWN MENU, ONLY 2011), PURCHASED 3/11/11. IT IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A "CLUTCH STAY OUT" PROBLEM. IT IS A SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR AT HIGH RPM, THE CLUTCH WILL NOT RELEASE FOR THE SHIFT UNTIL THE RPMS FALL BACK BELOW A CERTAIN LEVEL. I AM UNSURE IF THIS HOLDS TRUE FOR ALL THE GEARS AS MY CAR IS STILL FAIRLY NEW AND IN BREAK-IN AND I HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY GEAR PAST 5K RPM. THAT SAID, THE PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE GOES LIKE THIS, "TAKE FIRST GEAR PAST 3K RPM, SHIFT TO SECOND, CAR BUCKS, RPMS FALL, SECOND IS THEN ENGAGED, CAR LURCHES/LUNGES FORWARD AFTER THE CLUTCH "CATCHES" AND THEN IT LAUNCHES ONE FORWARD UNPREDICTABLY." THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME EVERY TIME I HAVE SHIFTED THE CAR INTO SECOND GEAR AFTER TAKING FIRST GEAR PAST 3K RPM. *TR
