THE PAINT ON THE HOOD STARTING AT THE SEAM ON THE UNDERSIDE STARTED BUBBLING LIKE IT WAS RUSTING UNDERNEATH AND HAS SPREAD UP & AROUND ON THE TOP OF THE HOOD. THE PAINT IS NOW STARTING TO CRACK AND FALL OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP COLLISION CENTER AND TO AN INDEPENDENT COLLISION CENTER AND BOTH ADVISED THE HOOD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND PAINTED. BOTH ADVISED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND APPEARS TO BE SOME TYPE OF CONTAMINATION THAT OCCURS WHEN THE SEAM IS SEALED. THE QUOTES FOR THIS REPAIR ARE FOR $3400 & $3300. WHILE A 2012, OUR MUSTANG HAS BEEN KEPT UNDER A COVER AND ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT.

FRONT HOOD HAS PAINT PEELING ISSUE WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PURCHASE. AUTO TRANS DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY IN AT LEAST 1 OF THE FIRST 3 GEARS. IT BUCKS WHEN COLD IN WINTER WEATHER UNTIL CAR WARMS FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES.. FORD HAS HAD THE CAR ON 3 OCCASIONS WITHOUT FIXING THE ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE FIRST 3 SOLENOIDS IN TRANS WITHOUT SUCCESS. PURCHASED NEW. THESE 2 ISSUES REMAIN A BIG PROBLEM. ON ANOTHER NOTE, INTERIOR CABIN FLOODED DUE TO RAIN ENTERING THE COWL FROM A DESIGN FLAW. DEALERSHIP DETACHED A HOSE.

ON MARCH 27, 2015, I BROUGHT MY MUSTAND TO FORD BECAUSE I DISCOVERED ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR, THAT THE PAINT WAS BUBBLING/COMING APART FROM THE HOOD. ON APRIL 7, 2015, THE FORD DEALER REPAINTED MY HOOD. THEN, I NOTICED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME, IN MORE THAN ONE AREA OF MY HOOD THAT THE PAINT WAS LIFTING OFF OF THE HOOD. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY BUT THEY WERE RELUCTANT TO REPLACE THE HOOD OR REPAINT AT NO COST. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN DURING THE "WARRANTY PERIOD" AS IN THE MANUAL HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED SINCE IT RETURNED AGAIN.

NO GUARANTY THAT THIS WILL FIX PROBLEM FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. OUT OF POCKET MONEY FOR A CAR THAT IS COVERED, AND GARAGE KEPT. THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE A SCRATCH OR DENT ON IT. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I WENT TO THE DEALER'S BODY SHOP TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON REPAIR AND WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE ALUMINUM/IRON CONTAMINATION DURING THE CAR ASSEMBLY AND THAT A NEW PAINT JOB WOULD ONLY BE A BAND-AID. BROUGHT PROBLEM TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD DOCUMENT AND SEND TO FORD FOR RESOLUTION ... 3 MONTHS LATER I CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. ON THE 2ND VISIT, THEY DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WOULD BE SUBMITTED TO FORD. THE RESULT WAS THAT FORD DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE IT WAS BEYOND THE 3 YEAR TERM. WHEN I RESEARCHED THE ALUMINUM CORROSION ISSUE I FOUND THAT SENDING A COMPLAINT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MIGHT ELEVATE THE CLAIM, I SENT A MESSAGE TO [XXX] AT FORD. SHE WAS VERY NICE AND SENT ME THE CONTACT INFO FOR MY AREA'S FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, [XXX]. SHE LET ME KNOW SHE WAS CHECKING INTO THE PROBLEM BUT THAT THE ONLY REAL SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE HOOD. WHEN I HEARD BACK, SHE INFORMED ME THAT: "THE COST TO REPLACE THE HOOD OF YOUR MUSTANG WOULD COME TO APPROXIMATELY $2,483.32. I CAN ASSIST WITH 50% OF THIS REPAIR BUT NOT TO EXCEED $1,241.66 IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT ADDITIONAL REPAIRS ARE NEEDED. I HAVE CONTACTED [XXX] AT APPLE FORD AND ADVISED HIM OF MY OFFER. I CAN HONOR THIS OFFER FOR UP TO 30 DAYS FROM TODAY." I CANNOT AFFORD TO PUT OUT MONEY TO FIX THIS AND FEEL THAT A PROBLEM ORIGINATING IN THE ASSEMBLY PLANT, WHICH HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED, SHOULD NOT BE COVERED COMPLETELY BY FORD. NOTICED WHILE WASHING MY CAR THAT THE PAINT ON MY 2012 MUSTANG WAS BLISTERED ON THE HOOD . SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR OTHER PEOPLE THAT EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING AND TO MY DISMAY FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH PAINT BLISTERING AND ALUMINUM CORROSION ON THE MUSTANGS. I HAVE 45,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND HAVE SURPASSED THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I TALKED TO A LOCAL DEALER AND ASKED IF THIS IS CONSIDERED UNDER THE CORROSION WARRANTY AND HE SAID THE CAR HAS TO BE EATEN CLEAR THROUGH BEFORE THEY CONSIDER UNDER THAT PART OF THE WARRANTY. UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT FORD SENT TO THEIR DEALERS DETAILING THE ALUMINUM CORROSION & PAINT BLISTERING PROBLEM AND HOW TO SERVICE IT. MY CAR HAS HAD GALVANIC ACTION ON THE HOOD TWICE IN LESS THEN A YEAR. NO ACCIDENT, BUT THE PAINT BUBBLES AND SPLITS ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD IN SEVERAL PLACES. AN ELECTRIC CURRENT APPARENTLY OCCURS BETWEEN THE ALUMINUM HOOD AND THE STEEL BOLTS THAT CONNECT IT TO THE HOOD HINGE MECHANISM. FORD HAS REPAINTED THE HOOD TWICE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW SAY THE PROBLEM WONT BE COVERED AGAIN. THEY HAVE NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. AS YOU MAY KNOW, HIS PROBLEM IS CURRENTLY BEING DEPOSED FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR CARS UP TO 2006. WHILE DRIVING MY FORD MUSTANG AFTER A RAIN STORM I HEARD A VERY LOUD WATER SWISHING NOISE AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. I QUICKLY ASCERTAINED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I WAS EXTREMELY SHOCKED AND CONCERNED AND HURRIED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DOOR WAS TAKEN APART IN THE SERVICE AREA AND A LARGE QUANTITY OF WATER POURED OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO! WHEN THE DOOR WAS APART I COULD CLEARLY SEE THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS WIRES AND CONNECTORS THAT COULD CLEARLY BE IN JEOPARDY FROM SPLASHING WATER AND THE DOOR INTERIOR WAS VERY WET. I NERVOUSLY DROVE THE CAR HOME AND COVERED IT AND HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT SINCE BECAUSE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A LOT OF RAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,621 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,300. UPDATED 06/26/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED WATER LEAKED AT THE FIREWALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AFTER IT RAINED.
