Aug 26, 2025 Crash

The contact owned a 2013 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another driver failed to yield while entering the roadway, abruptly cutting in front of the contact's vehicle. As a result, the contact was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear driver's side passenger door of the other vehicle. The driver's side air bag did deploy but failed to inflate, which the contact related to the injuries he sustained as a result of the accident. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact did not immediately seek medical attention but later transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for a concussion, neck pain, and back pain. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Mustang. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 15V319000 (Air Bags) and 19V001000 (Air Bags). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer declined to perform the recall repairs. The contact was informed that, because of the installation of an aftermarket steering wheel, the recall repairs could not be performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Was going 25mph on a straight dry road, 2 traction control lights popped up and an alert saying Advancetrac is off, which is a feature you have to be in park with your foot on the brake and hold the traction control button for 8 seconds to turn off, when the light turned on the car downshift and turned sideways causing me to go into a barrier, steering wheel airbag and passenger airbag both only broke out of the trim and did not inflate fully.

CAR HAS HAD THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON AND OFF. SINCE IT ALREADY HAD RECALL FOR IT AIRBAGS, IT SEEMS LIKE A FAULTY AIRBAG SYSTEM PROBLEM CONTINUES. LIGHT USUALLY COMES ON WHEN BEEN DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MILES AND STAYES ON. ONCE I TUNR THE IGNITION OFF, IT RESETS IT AND TURNING THE IGNITION ON AGAIN, THE LIGHT IS GONE, BUT WILL COME BACK AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL MILES BUT NOT ALWAYS.

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY HOME NOTICED I HAD NO AIR WHEN I HIT THE AC BUTTON AS IT WAS VERY WARM DAY THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY IN THE LAST 2 YEARS , SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE AIR AND A/C BEGAN WORKING. I TOOK INTO FORD WHEN CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE 3 YEAR 36000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING SINCE IT WAS NO OCCURRING AT THAT TIME. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH WINDOWS FOGGING UP WHILE DRIVING AFTER JUST STARTING THE VEHICLE SINCE OWNING IT. THIS CAR ALSO HAS A DEFECTIVE CLEAR COAT FINISH ON THE BACK OF VEHICLE TRUNK AREA. THE CLEAR COAT ON THE BLACK PANEL OF THE TRUNK IS PEELING OFF THIS CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE CLEARCOAT IS PEELING OFF AS BADLY IS IT IS. I AM EMBARRASSED TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH THE CLEARCOAT PEELING OFF THE WAY IT IS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT ALL. I HAVE OWNED FORD VEHICLES MY WHOLE LIFE AND AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS MUSTANG(WHICH I HAD TO SAVE MY MONEY FOUR 4 YEARS BEFORE I COULD BUY ONE) I HAD A 1995 MUSTANG GT FOR 13 YEARS NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE PAINT ON IT. I HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT FORD BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE AGAIN. I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THE FINISH IS PEELING OFF ON A 4 YR OLD VEHICLE. I AM ALSO VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE FACT THAT I HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF WITH DEFECTIVE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY REPLACED IT. I HAD TO REDUCE MY DRIVING UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE.

HOWEVER FORD HAS NEVER ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN FACT, FORD HAS NEVER EVEN NOTIFIED ME OF THE PENDING RECALL - EVEN WHEN I HAVE HAD FORD SERVICE PERFORM MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR. FORD IS IGNORING THE RECALL AND NECESSARY REPAIRS TO THE CAR. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE!

I HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE STATUS OF THE RECALL REMEDY AND NOW IN 2017 THE REMEDY IS STILL INCOMPLETE AND I AM UNABLE TO GET THIS RESOLVED WITH DEALERSHIP. THE SAFETY RISK FOR THIS RECALL IS SEVERE AND EXTREMELY HIGH RISK. I LIVE IN TX HIGH HUMIDITY AND IT STATES IT CAN POTENTIALLY INJURE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS IF INVOLVED IN A CRASH. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX MY CAR AND THAT I MUST WAIT FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE. I CALLED GALLOWAY FORD WHRE I BOUUGHT THE CAR SPOKE TO HYDEE AND SHE TOLD ME TO CALL CUSTOMERS RELATIONS , I DID I SPOKE TO MCKAPAE, SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A REPLACEMENT AND THAT THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A LOANER BECAUSE OF THE CAR YEAR

AIRBAG RECALL IS ISSUED ON MAY 27, 2015. I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM TORKIN GRESHAM DEALERSHIP ON 5TH OF AUGUST. THE RECALL SAYS: SAFETY RISK: AN INFLATOR RUPTURE COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING AND POTENTIALLY SERIOUSLY INJURING VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. REMEDY: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR WITH A NEW ONE, FREE OF CHARGE. RECALL STATUS: RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I CAN EASLY GO TO A FORD SERVICE AND REPLACE THE AIRBAG FOR MY SAFETY, THEY ACCEPTED THAT THEY DID NOT TRY TO COMPLETE THE RECALL BEFORE PUTTING THE CAR ON THE MARKET. TAKATA RECALL> I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON JULY 4, 2016. A PERSON TOOK A STOP SIGN AS I WAS GOING 40MPH ON A STRAIGHTAWAY STREET. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE WAS SMASHED IN. OUR VEHICLE WENT IN FOR REPAIR AND IT IS NOW READY TO GO, BUT IT'S MISSING THE AIRBAGS. OBVIOUSLY THE AUTO COLLISION CENTER CANNOT RELEASE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE AIRBAGS. NOW THEY'VE INFORMED US THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND THERE IS NO ETA ON THE PRODUCTION. TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO SEVERAL FORD DEALERSHIPS TO GET AN UPDATE ON THE AIRBAG RECALL. THE STORY REMAINS THE SAME. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION YET TO THE PROBLEM. I FIND THIS TO BE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE GIVEN THE FACT THE THERE ARE OTHER MUSTANGS PRODUCED SINCE THIS CAR HAS BEEN MANUFACTURED THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. OTHER CAR MANUFACTURES (IE. HONDA/ACURA) HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE AIRBAGS ARE ARE AGGRESSIVELY SEEKING OUT OWNERS TO HAVE THE BAGS REPLACED AND EVEN SUGGESTING THAT SOME CARS NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL REPAIRED. I DO NOT FEEL THAT FORD IS DOING ENOUGH TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE QUICKLY.

I WAITED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AND THEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ASKING IF THEY KNEW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE BUT THEY WOULD CALL ME AS SOON AS IT WAS IN. I CALLED THE NATIONAL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WOULD BE AT LEAST APRIL OF 2016 BEFORE THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I DON'T THINK IT'S ACCEPTABLE TO WAIT ALMOST ONE YEAR TO REPLACE AIRBAGS THAT HAVE BEEN LINKED TO SERIOUS INJURIES AND DEATHS. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A HIGH DEMAND FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS BUT THEY COULD HAVE WENT WITH ANOTHER COMPANY TO GET A REPLACEMENT PART. WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 15S21/NHTSA RECALL 15V-319 FROM FORD IN JULY 2015. THE LETTER STATES ..IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, AND THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG RUPTURES, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD STRIKE OCCUPANTS CAUSING INJURY/DEATH. BASED ON THIS NOTICE, WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE FORM FORD. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE @ 800392-3673. I SPOKE TO SUPERVISOR AL AND TOLD HIM WE WERE NOT DRIVING OUR CAR DUE TO RECALL NOTICE. WHEN WILL IT BE REPAIRED. HE SAID UNKNOWN WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. HE SAID, NHTSA SAID THE 2013 FORD MUSTANG IS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. IS THE MUSTANG SAFE TO DRIVE OR NOT. WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDATION ON.

TURNED VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, PRESSED ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND, BACK END FISHTAILED, SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO TRY TO DECREASE THE SPIN OF THE TIRES, PUMPED THE BRAKES, OVER CORRECTED AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE AT BETWEEN 15 TO 20 MILES PER HOUR. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2013, I WAS INVOLVED IN A "FENDER BENDER" IN MY BRAND NEW 2013 FORD MUSTANG WHERE I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. ALTHOUGH THE COLLISION WAS MINOR, AND THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END WAS MINIMAL, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND SIDE PANEL AIRBAGS BOTH DEPLOYED. THE FRONT AIR BAG SEVERELY BURNED ME WHEN IT EXPLODED OUT UPON IMPACT. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BURNS THAT I HAVE SUFFERED AS THE RESULT OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, AS WELL AS THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR. BASED UPON THE SEVERITY OF THE BURNS THAT I HAVE SUFFERED IT IS APPARENT THAT THE AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE. AFTER THE COLLISION, I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM, AND WHILE BEING TREATED THE DOCTOR INDICATED THAT MY BURNS WERE CHEMICALLY INDUCED, AND WERE NOT ABRASION TYPE BURNS FROM CONTACT WITH THE AIRBAG. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE IDLING AT A STOP SIGN. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED AN INJURED KNEE AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A LACERATED HIP AND A FRACTURED LUMBER VERTEBRAE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
