I was driving down the road and just lost power steering , a message came on and said loss of power steering assist , I pulled o er cut the car off waited a few min then started it back up and it was working again , then about 10 miles down the road it did it again

I was going up a steep driveway. I made it to the top, then needed to get back down. I put my car in reverse and proceeded to back down the driveway. Suddenly and without warning, my brakes and steering went out. The whole car shut off and the battery light turned on. Not being able to brake or steer, my car rolled down the driveway into a fence before coming to a stop. This caused extensive damage to my vehicle.

WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME FROM WORK MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND THEN THE POWER STEERING FAULT CAME UP ON MY DASH. SO I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND WHEN THAT WENT OUT I WAS GOING ABOUT 60 AND I ALMOST WRECKED MY CAR BECAUSE OF IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE STEERING WHEEL BACK IN AND DROVE VERY SLOWLY TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-22279956. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE BOLT ON OUR 2014 MUSTANG'S STEERING COLUMN (INSIDE BY THE FIRE WALL) CAME LOOSE AND FELL OUT CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO SPIN FREELY. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT WHERE THE CAR COULD COAST INTO A PARKING SPACE AND NOT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE THEY ARE REPLACING THE BOLT.

TAMARA RECALL, THE TRACTION LIGHT COME ON AND OFF THE POWER STEERING FAILURE LIGHT COME ON AND MAKES A SCREECHING NOISE, AND THE POWER STEERING GETS EXTREMELY STIFF IN TURNS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO LOCK UP. THE CAR ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES. ALL THIS HAPPENED WHILE ON A CITY STREET WHEN TURNING. IT'S THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING/ RACK AND PINION. THERE ARE A LOT OF POST ON YOUTUBE AS WELL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL INADVERTENTLY MANEUVERED TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY STEER THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT AGAIN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAM PACK'S FIVE STAR FORD LEWISVILLE (1144 N STEMMONS FWY, LEWISVILLE, TX 75067, (469) 470-4900) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. ON MY CONSOLE A MESSAGE STATING THAT I HAD A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT SHOWED UP. SINCE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL I HAD TO STOP IMMEDIATELY SINCE IT WAS HEADING INTO THE CENTER MEDIAN. I RESTARTED THE CAR COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THE STEERING WOULD NOT BUDGE. HAD TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK PICK THE CAR UP. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND EVEN WHEN UP ON THE RACK IT WOULD NOT BUDGE. SINCE I WAS TURNING I HAD SLOWED DOWN OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SINCE I COULD NOT MOVE THE WHEEL AT ALL.

ADVANCED TRACK LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AS WELL AS TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS THOUGH CAR WAS FINE THEN NEW YEARS EVE A DRIVER CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND SECONDS BEFORE IMPACT MY BRAKES LOCKED UP, AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I THEN IMPACTED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH COULD OF KILLED ME AND MY PASSENGER AS WE WERE BOTH SEVERELY HURT FROM SLAMMING AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIM THE DASHBOARD. TOOK HOME NEXT MORNING SAME THING HAPPENS. SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND NO POWER STEERING. TOOL BACK TO DEALER AND TOLD ITS STEERING WHEEL GEAR GOING TO COST $1700. REALLY??!! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABILITY FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ABILITY WOULD COME AND GO AND THE ACCUTRAX SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAMILY FORD-LINCOLN (909 PIKE ST, MARIETTA, OH 45750 (740) 373-3431) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING BOX NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NO REASON WAS GIVEN AS TO WHY THE POWER STEERING BOX NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED HOME, HE FOUND WATER IN THE CONNECTOR PINS WITH THE POWER STEERING BOX, AND THE PINS WERE CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,600. *BF CONSUMER STATED ELECTRICAL STEERING BOX, POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE TERMINAL PLUG HAD WATER IN IT AND THE MALE TERMINAL; SPADE IS CORRODED CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING. THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE LOOSING POWER STEERING IN MY MUSTANG WHILE DRIVING. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM FORD DOES HAVE LOTS OF RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM. BUT DIDN'T FIND MY YEAR 2014 FOR A RECALL. THE PROBLEM IS I DID LOOSE MY POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING AND THIS IS UNSAFE SINCE I DO DRIVE MY CAR FAST. MY DEFAULT LIGHT OR WARNING LIGHT DID COME ON AS I PULLED OVER AND FOUND IT HARD TO STEER MY VEHICLE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME MY CAR HAS DONE THIS AND WILL MONITOR THE PROBLEM. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR MY TURNING THE KEY OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SO I RESET THE SYSTEM BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY CABLES AND THAT DID FIX THE PROBLEM AND GOT BACK MY POWER STEERING ON MY MUSTANG. THERE IS NO POWER STEERING PUMP ON THIS CAR AS THE RACK PINION IS CONTROLLING THE POWER STEERING.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT, THE VEHICLE'S STEERING ABILITY SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE DROVE STRAIGHT FORWARD INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE APPEARED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.

I WAS GOING TO WORK AROUND 15:45 WHEN I HAD TO ACCELARATE ON A MOUNTAIN WHILE I WAS ON THE FIFTH GEAR. I GAVE ENOUGH GAZ BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT WANT TO RESPOND. AFTER ARRIVING AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN, NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE ON THE 5TH GEAR, I DOWNSHIFTED TO THE 4TH GEAR. SAME RESULT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. THE ENGINE THEN STALLED, BATTERY LIGHT CAME UP, OIL AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP AFTER. THE ROAD WAS TURNING RADICALLY SO I TOLD MYSELF I WILL TRY TO STOP AFTER THE CURVE SO I WONT BE DANGEROUS TO OTHER CARS IN THE CURVE. PROBLEM IS, STEERING BOX FAILED TO FONCTION AND I ALMOST CRASHED IN A LIGHT POST. EVEN WITH MY TWO HANDS FORCING ON THE STEERING WHEEL IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I CALLED FORD ROAD ASSISTANCE FOR A TOWING. IT TOOK AROUND 40 MINUTES FOR IT TO ARRIVE. FOR A 12TH FEBRUARY IN QUBEC, IT IS LONG AND COLD TO WAIT IN A CAR 40 MINUTES WITH NO HEATING. TWO DAYS LATER FORD CALLED ME TO TELL ME OIL SMELLED GAZ AND SPARKED PLUGS WERE FINISHED, FOR THEN TELLING ME THE ENGINE IS DONE DUE TO A PISTON. BECAUSE OF A MODIFICATION ON THE ENGINE (A SUPERCHARGE) I AM AWARE THE WARRANTY WILL PROBABLY NOT COVER THE ENGINE, BUT THIS SEEMS TO NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE STEERING BOX FAILED IN WHICH I ALMOST DID AN ACCIDENT.

I HAD A BLOW OUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND I COULD NOT STOP IT I ENDED UP HITTING A CURB WHICH ACTUALLY STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND THE TIRE ROD WAS BROKE THE STEERING WAS OUT THE SUSPENSION WAS OUT THE COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS OUT I WAS THANKFUL THAT MY CHILD TO JUST BE BRUISED BECAUSE THERE WAS A HOLE ON SIDE OF TIRE BIGGER THAN 1/2 DOLLAR. I WAS TOLD THE TIRES WOULD NOT BLOW OUT (AT DEALER SHIP) AND PAID EXTRA WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR THE PROTECTION. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING THE DAMAGE THE VEHICLE OCCURRED JUST BECAUSE OF A BLOW OUT . THE WOMAN WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND SAID YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE HIT A CURB ANY EXPERIENCE DRIVERS OUT HERE KNOWS IF YOU HIT A CURB IT DOES NOT CAUSE THIS DAMAGE AND I AM THANKFUL FOR MY INSURANCE AS THEY ARE LOOKING INTO THE VEHICLE AS SERIOUS DEFECTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE HAPPENED AT THE TIME OF THIS SO CALLED BLOW OUT AND THAT IS WHY I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE SO I TRULY BELIEVE THAT WHEN THE DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE DRIVER SIDE BACK TIRE WAS THE RESULT OF MAYBE A ROD HITTING THE BACK TIRE CAUSING THE BLOW OUT BECAUSE I HAVE DRIVEN A VEHICLE FOR OVER 35 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS MUCH DAMAGE NOR THIS MUCH PROBLEM DUE TO A BLOW OUT. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY VEHICLE UNTIL I GOT STOPPED NOT EVEN LOW PRESSURE TIRE ...WHEN THE STEERING WENT OUT IT FELT LIKE I WAS TRYING TO DRIVE A CAR WITH THE KEYS OFF , THE STEERING WHEEL FROZE.... AT THIS TIME I STILL DO NOT KNOW ALL THE DAMAGE AS THIS WAS JUST VISUAL INSPECTION FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ATTEMPTING TO FIX MY NEW CAR ...I DO BLAME FORD FOR THIS AS THIS WAS UNUSUAL AS I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT YET THE CAR LOOKS LIKE IT HAS BEEN IN A HEAD IN COLLISION. *TR

I'VE HAD TWO SITUATIONS WITHIN A TWO WEEKS SPAN OF EACH OTHER. BOTH TIMES I LOST STEERING POWER WHILE IN THE PARKING LOT, AND A STEERING POWER ERROR CROSSED THE INFORMATION BOARD ON THE DASH. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT IN 1ST GEAR AND THE STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE SECOND TIME I WAS PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPOT AND LOST POWER WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE. I OWN A 2014 FORD 5.0 MUSTANG GT WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOST. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO KICK BACK IN. THIS MADE THE CAR HARD TO TURN OUT OF NO WHERE WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I COULD'VE HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE PROCESS HAD I NOT BRAKE IN TIME. THERE IS A WITHOUT A DOUBT A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. *TR

I WAS DRIVING A 2014 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE FROM THE LONG BEACH AIRPORT (RENTAL) AND LOST STEERING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH. I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND AS I APPROACHED FULL SPEED, THE CAR BEGAN TO VEER INTO THE LANE TO THE LEFT OF ME. AS I TRIED TO CORRECT, THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE BY THE STEERING MECHANISM BY ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. THE CAR THEN VEERED BACK RIGHT, AND AGAIN, ANOTHER DELAYED RESPONSE. I WAS VEERING WIDELY BETWEEN THE WIDTH OF TWO LANES WHILE THIS WAS OCCURRING. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND EXIT THE FREEWAY. *TR
