Right after picking up my 2015 Ford Mustang from dealer service on July 23, 2025, the hood suddenly flew open while I was driving, completely blocking my view and creating a serious risk of collision. The dealership had performed multiple recalls and a multi-point inspection but did not flag any hood latch issue. The vehicle was released as “safe to drive,” yet this happened immediately after leaving their service. This was an extremely dangerous situation that could have caused a serious accident. The force of the hood flying up also caused major damage to the hood and surrounding components. The dealership took the car back and even offered me a rental, but they are refusing to take responsibility or repair the damage, claiming they are not at fault. I am reporting this because it is a serious safety issue and I want to ensure it is properly investigated to prevent similar incidents. I am also requesting that the dealer or manufacturer repair the damage or reimburse me for the cost to fix it, as this was caused immediately after their service.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while closing the trunk, the emblem on the trunk located above the rear license plate detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the trunk was not slammed, and that the emblem could have fallen off while driving, becoming a possible road hazard. The local dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline with the contact’s knowledge. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

The driver side fills with water during heavy rain. This is not due to a leak in the convertible top or any window seals. The water is coming from below. The water is at risk of causing rust build up, electrical malfunction, and mold growth. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center, every time I bring it up they say they don't cover leaks so I have yet to be able to get it checked out. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the the first appearance. This has happened numerous times since 6/17/2023

Having difficulties to get our vehicle repaired by Ford Motor Company. Two out of three Safety Recalls for our car have not been solved. Attempts for arranging services have been made through online scheduling at our local dealership, as well as through contacting them by phone at different times, but still no final solution is been granted. First, DOOR LATCHES: Manufacturer Recall Number 20S3 & NHTSA Recall Number 20V331. And second, REAR VIEW CAMERA: Ford Recall Number 22S06 & NHTSA Recall Number 22V082.

The doors on both passenger and drivers side keep unlatching while driving. it happens quite often, 4 times this week on one 200 miles trip. I took it to the dealer who said the locking mechanisms were faulty. The dealer replaced both of them $1200.00. My question is: there was a recall on this problem involving several years including 2015. But my car was not included even though it obviously has the same problem. Is there anything that can be done to cover an obvious safety hazard?

The passenger door unlatches while the vehicle is in motion. The dealer has reported that this had already been fixed, but it is still happening. It is a major safely issue that needs to be resolved. I can provide video footage.

While driving my 2015 Ford Mustang 70 mph, my passenger side door opened. I had to reach across to pull it closed and nearly lost control of my vehicle. If I had lost control of my vehicle, other motorists would have been harmed. This has happened multiple times since owning the vehicle. I took it to Ford to get it looked at & found out there were 3 safety recalls; 20S30, 15S16, & 16S30. These recalls were supposed to inspect and fix a defective door latch. If it isn’t fixed, there is potential for the door to unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. This recall affected 2.15 million Ford vehicles. These include the 15 Ford Mustang, 2013-2015 Ford C Max, 2013-2015 FordEscape, 2012-2015 Ford Focus, 2015 Lincoln MKC, & 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect I spoke with the Ford Service center in Clearwater, FL on June 9th, 2022. They inspected the door latch and stated that it needed to be changed. This defective latch should have been fixed in the previous recall. They only checked the part number. If it wasn’t a certain part number, they marked it as passing and potentially putting thousands or even millions of unsafe vehicles back on the road. My vehicle has a defective door latch and should have been replaced! Ford basically lied to the NHTSA and put millions of drivers at risk on the roads. I contacted Ford Customer Support and asked them to rectify this since it was missed they basically rushed me off the phone and told me to fix it on my own. I’m appalled that Ford would show such a lack of concern for millions of motorists. I sincerely hope the NHTSA can do something about this

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that after it rained, there was water on the rear passenger’s side floor of the vehicle. The vehicle was equipped with a convertible top. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact cleaned and drained the water from the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. The contact stated that a year later the vehicle was at the dealer for recall repairs and she noticed that there was water inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer then transferred the call to the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

The information was not on the vehicle other than the vin. I called Purvis Ford in Fredericksburg, VA and was told the inspection to find the information was not free as it said in the recall notice. I must pay a tech service fee for them to inspect the car doors for the recall information. I said fine I would like to make an appointment for the inspection. The appointment given was for October 26, 2021 as this was the soonest they could get me in. I did not make the appointment as they clearly did not want my business.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the door latches functioned as needed and did not need to be replaced. The recall designation was then removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was returned to the contact. A few months later, the contact stated that the passenger’s door started to rattle and independently opened while driving without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was no longer under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the recall and the contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

MY CAR IS GARAGED YEAR ROUND TO INCLUDE 6 MONTHS TOTALLY GARAGED. IT HAS 28,800 MILES. WHILE GETTING OUT THE BEGINNING OF MAY 2019 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE OCT, 2018. I NOTICED PAINT BUBBLING UP ON THE HOOD. THE CAR WAS 4 YEARS OLD IN APRIL, THIS WAS SPOTTED IN MAY. CALLED FORD CO. THEY SAID THEY HAD A 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE POLICY FOR THE PAINT. WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION THRU A RELATIVE WHO WORKS FOR FORD DEALERSHIP IN MI. HE SAID FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW YEARS. HE SAID IT WAS EITHER INFERIOR MATERIAL, OR THE PREP WORK THAT CAUSED THE BUBBLING.HE ALSO SAID UP TO 2015 IT WAS 3YRS./36,000 MILES. AFTER 2015 THEY FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM AND CHANGED THE POLICY TO 5YRS./UNLIMITED MILES. I TALKED TO A PERSON THAT HAD A 2016 MUSTANG GT, AND ASKED IF HAD PAINT ISSUES AND SAID YES ON THE HOOD. HE SHOWED ME, AND IT WAS IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT AS MINE!!! MINE WAS ESTIMATED AT $2577.73, SUPPOSEDLY FORD SAID THEY WOULD PAY $768.00, AND THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HOOD!! SO, YES, THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM!! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS. IF I DID I WOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT, BUT FORD SCREWED UP AND SHOULD FIX ALL OF IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. WHEN I GO TO WORK. EVERYTHING IS FINE. WHEN I LEAVE WORK. I BACK THE CAR UP ABOUT 15-30 FEET. THEN PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. WHEN I PULL OUT. AS I PRESS THE GAS & START GOING FASTER. THE CAR STALLS, JERKS AS IF THE BREAKS ARE PUSHED, THEN STARTS DRIVING AS NORMAL AGAIN. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. BUT MY FORD PLACE SAYS IT HAS TO DO IT WITH THEM DRIVING FOR THEM TO KNOW WHAT TO DO OR WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THEN THIS PAST WEEK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. BUT IT HAPPENED FOR A LONGER TIME AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BRINKED THE WHOLE TIME I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. SO A FRIEND AT A FORD BODY SHOP TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY MY ABS SENSOR. ALSO THE HOOD OF MY CAR STARTED TO LOOSE PAINT FOR NO REASON. NO RUST. IT'S JUST FLAKING OFF. THE FLACKING STARTED NEAR THE HEADLIGHT UNDERNEATH THE TOP OF THE HOOD. & IS SLOWLY COMING TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE HOOD. MY 36,000 MILE WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED RIGHT AFTER I NOTICED THE ISSUE. THE DOOR SWINGS OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY -- THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES AND IS QUITE DANGEROUS. FORD CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND I'M TO OBTAIN A FORMAL QUOTE FOR THE REPAIR AND GET BACK TO THEM. ONE DEALER SAID $550 PARTS AND LABOR -- HOWEVER THE FORD SERVICE SITE SAY'S ITS 1.3 HOURS AND THE PART KIT IS APPROXIMATELY $70.00 I BELIEVE THERE HAS TO BE SOME LEGAL COURSE OF ACTION.

THE DOOR OPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING, THE DOOR APPEARED TO BE CLOSED, THERE WAS NO ALERT THAT THERE WAS A DOOR OPENED, THE CAR FELT LIKE EVERYTHING WAS OK, BUT WHEN I SAW THE ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT A DOOR WAS OPENED, AND I INMEDIATLY COULD FEEL THE SOUND OF THE WIND COMING INSIDE THE CAR, I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND TOLD ME TO JUST GO HOME, THEN AFTER A MONTH AND A HALF, THE DOOR OPENED AGAIN, I HEARD THE WINDOW COMING DOWN AS IT IS A CONVERTIBLE THE WINDOW GOES A LITTLE DOWN SO THE DOOR CAN OPEN, THEN I SAW THE ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT A DOOR WAS OPENED, I HAD TO STOP AND CLOSE THE DOOR, IN NEITHER OF THESE TWO OCASSIONS THE DOOR OPENED FULLY, IT WAS OPENED A BIT, LIKE WHEN IT'S NOT 100% LOCKED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS GOING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 80 MPH APROX. THE SECOND TIME I WAS IN A CITY STREET GOING AT 40 MPH APROX. BOTH TIMES OT WAS THE PASSENGER DOOR.

THEY WERE ALSO VERY NASTY ABOUT THE REQUEST. I CALLED THE DEALER FROM WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD ONLY BRING THE CAR IN FOR THIS ON A WEEKDAY, REQUIRING THAT I TAKE A DAY OFF FROM WORK. 2015 MUSTANG 2.3 LITER. PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM FAIRFIELD FORD IN CALIFORNIA. MUSTANG REAR ENDED 2014 PRIUS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. SEVERE ACCIDENT. STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG FAILED TO INFLATE IN MUSTANG. LOWER AIRBAG IN DRIVER FOOTWELL INFLATED ONLY. DRIVER SEATBELT RETRACTOR IS NOT LOCKED POTENTIALLY SHOULD BE IMMOBILIZED. DRIVER OF MUSTANG SUFFERED 2 BROKEN RIBS, 2 CRACKED RIBS, AND A CRACKED STERNUM. HER FACE ALSO STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND CAUSED HER TO BECOME UNCONSCIOUS FOR A LITTLE WHILE . BOTH VEHICLES TOWED FROM SCENE, MUSTANG DRIVER DID NOT REALIZE HER INJURIES AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL THE FOLLOWING DAY. COMPLAINTS OF CHEST PAIN, WHICH IS WHEN X-RAYS WERE TAKEN AND THE BODILY INJURIES WERE DETERMINED.

TODAY GOT A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD IN THE MAIL. WHY WASN'T I TOLD ABOUT THIS WHEN I CALLED THEM? FORD HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER. ("FORD PROVIDED THE GENERAL REIMBURSEMENT PLAN FOR THE COST OF REMEDIES PAID FOR BY VEHICLE OWNERS PRIOR TO NOTIFICATION OF A SAFETY RECALL TO THE AGENCY IN "FEBRUARY 2015". HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THE TRIP AS FORD WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER FOR 9 MONTHS! P.S. THE LETTER INCLUDED A REFERENCE TO GO TO WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV REFERENCE NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 16V-643. I TRIED IT AND YOUR SITE STATED "SORRY, NO RESULTS FOUND FOR NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 16V-643." SOMETHING IS OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING AT YOUR END.

16S30 RECALL - MY DOOR LATCH CLOSED WHILE THE DOOR WAS OPEN WHICH PREVENTED ME FROM CLOSING THE DOOR. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF MESSING WITH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH I CALLED A FRIEND TO BRING TOOLS TO HELP. WITH TOOLS I WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE LATCH BACK OPEN SO I COULD DRIVE THE CAR HOME. I HAVE NOT OPENED THE DOOR SINCE BECAUSE I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND THE FACT THAT FORD MO CO HAS NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM! I CANNOT EVEN TRADE IN THE CAR DUE TO THE SAFETY RECALL AND THE VALUE OF MY CAR HAS DECREASED BY $2000.00. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A MOTOR COMPANY CAN NOT BE LIABLE FOR A SAFETY ISSUE OF SUCH A SERIOUS NATURE AND NOT BE FORCED TO RECALL THE VEHICLES FOR REPAIR OR A BUY BACK. ON JULY 4TH, MY 2015 FORD MUSTANG, HAD A BREAK PEDAL ISSUE, THE PEDAL WOULD LOCK AND WOULD NOT ALLOW VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FIST TIME HAPPEN TO ME WILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING ON A NOT BUY AVENUE SO I WAS ABLE TO TOP THE CAR WITH THE HAND BREAK. HOWEVER, IN THE PROCESS I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THE TOW THE VEHICLE WITH 882 MILES AND RETURNED TO ME WITH 882 MILES. SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE I HAD PURCHASE THE RENTAL CAR OPTION AND THE CAR WAS NOT PROVIDED TO ME UNTIL THE DAY AFTER THE INCIDENT. IN ADDITION, THEY ONLY CONDUCTED A VISUAL POINT INSPECTION AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. I SPOKE TO MY CASE MANAGER AT FORD AND THEY GUARANTEE THAT THEY HAD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN. UNFORTUNATELY ON AUGUST 1ST ONLY A MONTH LATER AND AT AROUND 1500 MILES, THE BREAK PEDAL LOCKED AND THIS TIME I WAS INVOLVE IN AN ACCIDENT. ALTHOUGH I WAS DRIVING ONLY 35 MPH, MY VEHICLE SUFFER SEVER DAMAGES. I TOW THE VEHICLE TO FORD AND EXPECTED A RENTAL CAR, BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL, WHICH IS STUPID BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THE EXPENSES OF THE RENTAL. I FEEL LUCKY THAT I HAD THE ACCIDENT AT A LOW SPEED AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANY INJURY TO MY SELF. HOWEVER IF IT WOULD BEEN AT A HIGHWAY SPEED I COULD BE DEATH AND POSSIBLE MANY OTHER, DUE TO AN ISSUE THAT I HAD PRESENTED TO FORD A MONTH IN ADVANCE. I HATE FORD, I AM SCARE TO DRIVE, AND EVERY TIME I HEAR A HONK I PANIC. TODAY IS A WEEK SINCE THE ACCIDENT AND DEALERSHIP HAS NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR SINCE THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON FORD INSTRUCTIONS. THE DEALERSHIP EXCUSE IS THAT THEY NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, HOWEVER THE WHEEL AND TIRE AND THE ARM THAT HELP TO GIVE THE DIRECTION OF THE CAR IS DAMAGE AND DOES NOT ALLOW THEM TO DRIVE IT. NOW FORD WANTS TO DRIVE IT!!

I FAILED TO LEAVE THE CAR IN 1ST GEAR ON AN APPROXIMATELY 4% GRADE. I ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE AND LEFT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED PARKED IN PLACE FOR 20-30 MINUTES. SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 0 AND 30 MINUTES LATER, THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASED AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE GRADE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY. I AM AN EX-BRAKING ENGINEER AND HAVE REPRODUCED THE DEFECT MULTIPLE TIMES WELL UNDER THE FMVSS 135 PROTOCOL LIMITS OF ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE. I COMMUNICATED THIS TO FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY WISH FOR ME TO HAVE BODY DAMAGE REPLACED THROUGH INSURANCE.

BOUGHT A BRAND NEW FORD 2015 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE ON 1/13/15 IN FLORIDA. CAR WAS DELIVERED WITHOUT PROTECTIVE TONNEAU COVERS/CAPS. WHEN CONVERTIBLE IS IN DOWN POSITION, THERE ARE BIG, HOLES IN TOP OF REAR PANEL EXPOSING THE MECHANICAL ARMS. S APPARENTLY THE OEM OF THESE PARTS COULD NOT MAKE THEM PROPERLY AND IF AN OWNER TRIES TO PUT UP TOP WITHOUT REMOVAL THE WHOLE CONVERTIBLE TOP MECHANISM GETS DESTROYED.RIGHT NOW ALL SORTS OF DIRT AND DEBRIS GETS INTO THESE BIG GAPING HOLES. THESE PARTS ARE LISTED ON PAGE 186 OF THE MANUAL. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO COME WITH THE CAR. NO INFO FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY OR MY DEALER IS FORTHCOMING ABOUT WHEN I WILL RECEIVE THESE PARTS.
