Display screen went out after first back up, camera recall. Camera is fixed under the recall by the dealership shortly after the display screen was intermittently going out until the screen became completely black.
Took car to dealership per recall. Touch screen flickering on and off. Can't depend on back up camera. According to dealer "Recall 22a06a was previously completed on TSB 19-2273. and no other repairs were neede at this time. Note, Sync MyTouch screen is blinking on and off at all times and recommend Diag." they replaced APIN and Screen. According to the repair bill. It was still flickering and replaced FDCIN. Screen no longer flickering. it seems to me this is a safety hazard as it affects the viewing of the back up camera with any accuracy and could cause an accident no matter how careful a person is. It also seems to me that Ford knew extra parts my be needed to rectify the situation they should have been included in the orginal recall
• What failed & is it available for inspection? Air-conditioning system failure. Loss of cabin cooling; dealer recommends compressor replacement (may include related components pending contamination check). Vehicle is at a Ford dealer now; no repairs performed yet. I requested the dealer retain failed parts for inspection. • How was safety put at risk? I live in Las Vegas; ambient temps ~112°F-120 degrees. This is my primary vehicle for transporting my [XXX] and for my work schedule. With no A/C, cabin temps become dangerously high within minutes, creating a heat-related illness risk (child and driver), impaired concentration, and fatigue during necessary trips. • Has the problem been reproduced/confirmed? Yes. An independent shop first advised compressor replacement. A Ford dealer subsequently confirmed loss of cooling and produced an A/C repair estimate after diagnosis. • Inspected by manufacturer/police/insurance? Inspected/diagnosed by an authorized Ford dealer. I opened a Ford Customer Relationship Center case (XXX) and requested goodwill/after-warranty review. No police/insurance inspection. • Warning lamps/messages/symptoms & onset? No warning lights. Symptoms began with weak/intermittent cooling in early August 2025 and progressed to no cold air. Mileage at failure ~87,279. A/C clutch cycles but cabin air remains hot. (Owner context: original owner, [XXX] Vehicle: 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0.) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the A/C unit became inoperative on the driver's side of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the evaporator core was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

Smoke came up from under both seats within a few weeks of each other, found burned harness and plug at both heated/ cooled seat control modules mounted under seats. Researched and found a fix that will cost hundreds of $$ per seat but no recalls. I would think smoke and burning electrical in the interior of nearly ALL Ford products with heated/ cooled seats would be a safety recall?
Back Up camera working intermittently. If I shake the wires in the trunk it will work. I purchased this car in November and immediately received a recall notice from Ford for the back up camera. I scheduled the car in for the recall and dropped it off to be repaired. I was notified from the dealer that the car was ready to go and picked it up. Immediately I noticed that the camera was still not working. The dealer said that the recall was to check and see if the recall was completed. (Does that really make any sense?). They said another dealer had completed the recall so their work was done. So I have a car that had a recall but now it does not as they say they have completed it but in reality, the original recall item is still not working.
I had a back up camera recall done, and several months later, the exact same problems happened. Exactly the same symptoms and results. When shifting into reverse, the camera, in more than 50% of the time, the camera fails, just like before the first recall. The dealer says one fix per recall, and if I want it fixed now, it will be $400. It is a defect and should be fixed properly, not the sloppy fix done previously
Backup camera fails after recall repair is performed
Windows started fogging up when driving. Turned on ac to resolve and no cold air came out resulting a dangerous driving condition trying to see through condensation. Took vehicle to the dealer and found the cause was yet another leaking ac evaporator coil as several others have reported. Concerning to know there were toxic chemicals leaking in the vehicle. Dealer quoted at $3,000 to replace. Ford has changed manufacturers of this part due to widespread failure of the original equipment. Why is it on the vehicle owners to pay and replace this known faulty part which causes a safety issue?
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle began to stall. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the failure was due to the alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Mileage: 60,000
Attempted to start the vehicle and heard some sort of noise and nothing happened. Vehicle engine would not turned over or attempt to start. Received a message on the display stating Steering Lock Malfunction. Service now. I found a response from the NHTSA stating how to correct the issue. This only applied to the 2020 model. However, this corrected my issue.
Back up camera recall was unresolved by previous owner. I’ve tried fixing the issue myself but cannot find it. The camera displays blue and black screens while in reverse.
Rear back up camera malfunction (not detected). Vehicle is available for inspection. Safety put at risk, because unable to see the rear that is meant to be covered by the camera. Can cause an accident. Issue has been confirmed via dealer that is a recall under Ford. Ford notice states harness and camera covered to be replaced. Went to Ford dealer, states harness replaced and working. Now camera does not work at all. Went to ford again, they replaced the harness, but state camera is not covered by recall. Inspected by ford. No warning messages, just message that camera is not available now.
The heated/ventilated seats motherboard and wiring is under the passenger seat. There is a connector for the ground plug in that is burnt (would be better if you can send a picture of what I am talking about). Went to Ford about it and they were going to charge me $600 to have it fixed. I don’t have that much to fix it right now, so now I am worried about a fire starting in my car because of that connector. I checked online and many other Mustang owners (15-17 Mustang models) complained about the same issue. Would like to see about a recall about this.

I took my vehicle into the dealership 11/30/2022 due to the rearview camera initially malfunctioning and becoming blurry, or completely cutting out, when putting my vehicle in reverse. I informed them I did receive a email thru my carfax notification and by mail regarding a recall. The dealership kept my vehicle for several weeks for repair and stated it was covered under the recall. The issue persisted and I sent a message to the service center but never received a response back. I continued to receive responses about trading in my vehicle and purchasing a new car. I dropped my vehicle off at the dealership on 9/1/2023 and explained the issue again. The service dept stated my I would be charged $150 for a diagnostic test and if it was an issue with the internal camera it would not be covered under the recall warranty. I immediately began to feel they would later contact me and tell me it would not be covered because that is how the conversation began. The dealership contacted me and stated it was an internal problem with the camera and not covered under the recall. It will cost me $732 if I would like to have the camera repaired. I contacted the manufacturer regarding the recall warranty, and confirmed it was 12 months or 12000 miles, whichever is sooner and my vehicle remained within the recall warranty. My issue was escalated with a supervisor and I was to receive a call back the next day from the manufacturer between 10am-7pm cst, but I never did. My vehicle's camera has not been repaired.
When putting my vehicle in reverse, the backup camera cuts out and completely doesn’t work, or the image is staticky and unclear. This problem is currently covered under a recall on the backup camera, but after taking my vehicle to a dealer, I was notified that the recall only impacts vehicle’s manufactured during a few months of the year. Because my car was manufactured later in the year, it is not included in the recall, even though I am having the exact issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the back over prevention camera independently disconnected. The contact stated that he had received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention) in January 2023 in which he presented to the dealer; however, the dealer informed the contact that the notification had expired. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer as an electrical shortage; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
Mileage: 17,000
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated the trunk failed to open as needed. The electrical sensors were inoperable. While driving at an undetermined speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

While driving at 65mph with both heated seats on, I noticed a burning smell in the cabin. I assumed this was from an external source, but was prepared to pull over on the highway if I saw smoke, which I did not. The following day, I noticed the heated seats of my vehicle no longer worked, although the lights indicate they were on without any issue (implying power was still being supplied). I searched Google to determine if this is common, and to my disappointment, it seems that a number of ford vehicles fitted with heated seats have suffered the same failure: the power connector to the module controlling seat heating/ventilation had melted. I first checked the 30A fuses in my vehicle to see if they had blown, and confirmed they had not. I safely unplugged the affected cable on my vehicle from the seat, which required pliers because it was melted to the connector, only to confirm that my power connector had melted. I have identified that fixing this issue requires replacing the wiring harness, this can be done at home for $100 but should be done by an auto electrician. Ford appear to be quoting $700-$1100 for the same fix, encouraging individuals to undertake the work themselves without the expertise to do so. Had the scarf that was in my passenger foot well been near the connector, it's entirely plausible that this issue would have caused a fire in my vehicle and put mine and others life at risk while I was driving at highway speeds. I will make my vehicle available for assessment to the manufacturer and interested parties, and keep the cable disconnected until it is replaced. I will not pay for this repair given the issue is something that should not be a problem in the first place, and that is not expected to be part of a vehicles regular maintenance.
Noticed seat heaters stopped working then noticed a smell coming from passenger seat. Found harness that plugs into the seat heater control module was melted.
Evaporator Kit has gone out, which causes the inability to defog the windows. During this last summer (2022), I regularly had to deal with 100+ degree weather, and during heavy rainstorms, just had to pull off the road and manually wipe down the window, which only increased visibility by about 50%.
Hi there, I believe there is a recall currently on mustangs for the rear view camera not working. I checked my VIN number as my car has the same issue, but it doesn't show at a recall, I'd like understand why this is as the issue is on the same model, and year. I live in the UK, and this same issue happened with my car that was made in US, so I'd like to know if my car was in the US would it have been recalled regarding this rear camera recall. As the cars in the UK aren't and I just want to understand my options with Ford. I know this is a strange request, but would appreciate your steer on this.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V08200 ( BACK OVER PREVENTION ) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts distribution disconnect.
Ford Motor Company and the NHTSA issued a recall on 2/15/2022 on my 2016 Ford Mustang model vehicle a few months ago. It was "Back over prevention: sensing system: camera". Recall no. 22V082000. Also, Recall Number: 22S06 DECKLID WIRING UNIVERSAL CAMERA FRETTING CORROSION. Ford sent me a letter on 2/17/2022 alerting me of the recall indicating that a resolution to this issue would come about early in the second quarter of 2022. It feels like we're now approaching quarter 3 of the year and I have yet to be notified of repairs and my rear view camera is now completely not functioning at ALL. When I've searched recently for this recall, there is no longer any more information on the Ford website, nor the NHTSA website. I find that completely bizarre. I'd love to car the proper repairs immediately being that Ford guaranteed that it would be repaired accordingly to resolve the recall issue. Can you please look into why this recall has disappeared from your website, from Ford's database, and please help me get my car repaired>
The center console would go out cant push any buttons. Also causing brake light to stay illuminated or off while driving and not work correclty. Big safety issue. No HVAC funciton either when this happens. Cannot reset. Even after unplugging battery for a while. Does the same thing hit or miss.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the windows inadvertently rolled down without warning or driver input. The contact stated that it had previously rained and there was water inside the vehicle due to the failure. Additionally, the battery was drained and the vehicle had to be jump-started. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

United States Code Chapter 301 Title 49 Chapter 9. Duty to Notify Owners and Dealers and Provide a Remedy for a Noncompliance or a Safety-Related Defect Regardless of whether the noncompliance with an FMVSS or a safety-related defect is determined to exist by the manufacturer or by NHTSA, the manufacturer must provide owners and dealers of the affected products with notification of the noncompliance or defect and must remedy the noncompliance or defect, usually without charge. 45 The notification and remedy process is commonly referred to as a “safety recall campaign” or more simply as a “recall.” NHTSA monitors the remedy program to ensure its successful completion. The agency is not authorized to expend its funds on recalls; the expense of notifying owners and providing a remedy must be borne by the fabricating manufacturer and/or importer of the products found to contain the noncompliance or 46 Manufacturers are encouraged to contact NHTSA at 202-366-5210 or review the agency’s web site for defect. Several complaints have been associated with this 3rd brake light harness defect which causes this safety item to fail State Inspection. NTSA needs to conduct a analysis and hold the manufacturer accountable to remedy this safety defect IAW this Code. I have contacted Wynne Ford and Ford Motor Company with my concern without any satisfaction.
Who investigates and enforces in your agency Chapter 301 Title 49 of the United States Code concerning vehicle 3rd brake light harness wiring failed state inspection due to safety issue? Contacted Wynne Ford Dealership per Ford Motors Representative to have Wynne submit the paper work on amount charged and date of repair. I contacted Wynne three times and I have not received a response to my request. Request your assistance or pass on my fequest to the proper agency.
Two wiring harness went bad one stated below and the other a back up camera harness which cause safety hazards. a I spoke with Ford Motor Representative reference the issue below and she informed me that the Dealership needs to submit the paper work. I Contacted Wynne Ford,1020 W Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23666, 757-838-3673, three times to send the necessary paper work to Ford Motor Company for reimbursement of approximately $278 I paid in March 2020 to replace the 3rd brake light harness. This failed harness caused my vehicle to fail the State Safety Inspection. I had only one return call from [XXX], Service Department Representative, I asked her Dealership to send the paper work to Ford Motor Company. Still I have not received any response from them if they sent the paper work. I informed [XXX] to include in the paper work Chapter 301 of Title 49 of the United States Code (U.S.C.) which requires a manufacturer of motor vehicles or items of motor vehicle equipment that contain a defect relating to motor vehicle safety to remedy the defect without charge. I request you reach out to Wynne Ford on my behalf. -----Original Message----- From: NHTSA Service Desk <[email protected]> To: [XXX] Sent: Fri, Apr 15, 2022 10:04 am Subject: Request #505645 RECALL INQUIRY 2016 FORD MUSTANG INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
NSTB could not help me because they said it is individual dispute. This is not an individual dispute. It comes under the Code reference below! I summited numerous complaints to NSTB on this matter. I did contact Ford Manufacturer who advised me to contact Wynne Ford to summit the paper work. Two weeks has elapsed and Wynne Ford has not summited the paper work. Request You have someone in your organization investigate the issue and get in touch with Wynne Ford or Ford Manufacturer since it comes under United States Code Chapter 301 Title 49! Your NHTSA representative made me aware of this Code and stated someone in your organization would investigate this matter. No one in this organization has investigated this matter or contacted them. A failed 3rd Brake light harness (Safety Hazard) caused my vehicle to fail State Inspection.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for inspection and the local dealer diagnosed that the third backup light and harness were defective. There were no warning lights on the instrument panel prior to the inspection. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I smelled a burning smell when turning on seat heater. Seat heater no longer provides heat, but indicator switch light up as if heater should be on. The burning could have led to fire in passenger compartment of vehicle. I have not taken the vehicle in to have this serviced. I inspected the wiring harness and the “M” pin is clearly burnt (I have photos). There were no warning lights. I can press switch to turn on seat heater and the lights turn on as if the seat heater were working, but no heat.
25 mph mild frontal collision caused a fire to start in the door panel as identified by the driver and the fire dept. The fire caused a majority of the cabin to burn and the vehicle to become a total loss in under a minute. Front airbags deployed but not side airbags. Electrical system in left door possibly malfunctioned causing a fire, evident by the fire reigniting every time the fire fighter ceased using the fire extinguisher. Driver was right next to the damaged electrical and was almost hurt by the fire, almost resulting in severe burns or death to the driver had they not escaped the cabin a few seconds before ignition. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure.
Around September of 2021 the backup camera on my 2016 Ford Mustang convertible began to fail to show a viewable image. After visiting a dealer who wanted $500 to replace the camera, I watched this video from a Ford Master Mechanic to realize my problem (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71Onbo8PgrY). Upon examination, I discovered that there were two zip ties, one in the trunk and the other at the body, severely restraining the free movement of the wiring as the trunk open/close. I clipped those zip ties and then carefully opened the wiring cover at the junction of the trunk and body. Several of the wires in the harness, including a coaxial cable, showed stripping of the wire's plastic cover and wire damage from the severe constraint caused by the tie's compression. This is clearly a factory manufacturing error and should be recalled for replacement or repair.
My backup camera, GPS, and satellite radio lost connection. I could not see behind me or find my location. The wiring harness going to the trunk stopped working. Dealership told me it was due to a “faulty design from the factory” and that it was from “opening and closing the trunk too much.” They replaced it, forced me to pay nearly $600, and told me to keep my receipts in case it ever becomes a recall. Not sure if this applies to every model or just the convertibles. I still see glitches periodically even with the new one.
Random smell of burning electrical wiring soo strong I thought the car was catching fire, I had to pull over and check for smoke but didn’t find any. A few days later I realized the heated seats stopped working… did some Research and found the plug connector underneath the passenger seat melted.
THE REAR CAMERA HAS GONE OFF AND ON FOR MONTHS NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL..THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THERE HAVE BEEN MANY WITH THIS PROBLEM THE HARNESS IN THE TRUNK GOES UP AND DOWN WITH THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE TRUNK CREATING STRAIN ON THE WIRES CAUSING CAMERA FAILURE.. DEALERSHIP WANTS 1000 TO FIX THIS AND MY CAR HAS 32000 MILES ON IT THE EMERGENCY BREAK STICKS BECAUSE THE SLEVING AROUND IT GETS STUCK NOT ALLOWING THE RELEASE OF THE BREAK

THE HEATED AND AIR CONDITIONED SEATS STOPPED WORKING ALTHOUGH THE DASH INDICATOR SHOWS THAT IT IS ON. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON 2015-2016 MUSTANG MODELS. THE CONNECTOR UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT SHOWS A SEVERELY BURNED CONNECTION AS INDICATED IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED VIA A RECALL.*DT
Mileage: 64,000
HEATED AND COOLED SEATS STOPPED WORKING. I CHECKED SOME FORUMS AND FOUND OUT IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THIS PIN FOR THE GROUND ON THE WIRE ASSEMBLY THAT CONTROLS THE SEAT IS THE ONLY ONE, AND IT IS COMMON FOR IT TO COMPLETELY BURN OUT AS SEEN IN THE PICTURE. AS IT'S IN THE CABIN, UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEAT, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR IT TO BE BURNING THIS WAY.

HEATED COOLED SEATS ARE NOT WORKING. CHECKED THE CONNECTOR PAN UNDERNEATH THE SEAT AND THERE'S A BURNT AREA ON BOTH THE PIN AND ON THE MODULE

L LAST MARCH 2020 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AT MY FORD DEALERSHIP (WYNNE FORD HAMPTON VA) AND INSPECTOR FAILED MY STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THE BACKUP LIGHT NOT WORKING. THE ELECTRICAL WAS REPAIRED. NOW MY BACKUP CAMERA IS NOT WORKING. SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL WIRING. OSHA STD HAS A QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. FORD HAS MADE A POOR WORKMANSHIP FOR THESE SAFETY DEVICES. NEED A RECALL AT NO EXPENSE FOR CONSUMERS FOR THEIR POOR WORKMANSHIP RELATED TO SAFETY. TOO MANY INDIVIDUALS REPORTED WITH THE SAME ISSUES.

WHILE COMING TO A STOP WITH THE CLUTCH PRESSED IN THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS NOW JUST BEGAN HAPPENING, ALTHOUGH IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME TWICE IN 1 MONTHS TIME. I HAVE ALSO BEEN READING ON S550 MUSTANG FORUMS (YEARS 2015 - PRESENT) THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS. IT SEEMS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OR SOMETHING AS THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH COMPLETELY STOCK CARS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS, AND ALSO PEOPLE WITH 2018+ NEWER MUSTANGS AS WELL.

I SEE THE NEWS ABOUT THE NEW RECALL OF REAR-VIEW CAMERAS GOING BLANK AND NOT SHOWING IMAGES. THE NEW RECALL IS ONLY FOR 2020 MODELS BUT MY 2016 MODEL HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE LAST YEAR AND 1/2. I ONLY HAVE 20K MILES ON MY MUSTANG. REAR VIEW CAMERA WORKS SOMETIMES BUT OTHER TIMES IS BLANK AND MESSAGE ON SCREEN SAYS CAN'T DISPLAY IMAGE. OCCURS WHEN IN REVERSED WHILE BACKING UP.

AIR CONDITIONER WAS BLOWING HOT AIR WHILE STATIONARY . SERVICE REPAIR STATED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE EVAPORATOR COIL AND TO REPAIR IT THE COST IS $1700. BECAUSE THE COIL IS LOCATED BEHIND THE DASH THE WHOLE DASH HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET TO THE COIL HENCE THE COSTLY REPAIR DUE TO WHERE THAT EVAPORATOR COIL IS LOCATED. SERVICE REPAIRMAN AT DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY SAID ALTERNATOR WAS THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT STILL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED PER DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WITH THE EVAPORATOR COIL APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN MUSTANGS WITH AS LITTLE AS 2000 MILES ON THEM. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PROBLEM ALMOST A YEAR AGO WHEN MY CAR HAD ABOUT 37,000 MILES ON IT. DID NOT HAVE IT REPAIRED.

CAR WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP ON 09/04/2019, DUE TO MAJOR CORROSION ON POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL, WHICH HAD CAUSED ENTIRE BATTERY CONNECTOR TO CRUMBLE. FORD SAID IT WAS A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $209 TO ME. THIS MORNING, 09/19/2019,I WALKED OUTSIDE AND FOUND ORANGE LIQUID (ASSUMING BATTERY ACID) ON CEMENT UNDER WHERE THE BATTERY IS LOCATED ON CAR. I OPENED HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE NEW BATTERY ALREADY HAS NEW CORROSION ON THE POSITIVE TERMINAL. I HAVE READ IN SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR QUITE A FEW FORD OWNERS. OBVIOUSLY, THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE BATTERY BUT SOME UNDERLYING ISSUE THAT IS CAUSING BATTERY TO OVERCHARGE.

MY CAR WAS PARKED AFTER DRIVING AROUND 2 MILES AND HAD BEEN OFF FOR AROUND 2 HOURS.WHEN I RETURNED TO CAR, IT WOULD NOT START AND GAVE ME A MESSAGE SAYING KEY WAS REQUIRED. DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO, AIR BLOWER CAME ON BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT TURNOVER, JUST MADE CLICKING SOUND. I THOUGHT KEY FOB WAS PROBLEM SO TRIED THE SPARE ONE. WHILE WAITING FOR HUSBAND TO BRING EXTRA FOB I NOTICED AIR COMING OUT OF BENTS SMELLED LIKE SULPHER. WHEN SPARE FOB DID NOT FIX PROBLEM, WE CHECKED THE BATTERY AND FOUND THAT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND IT WAS SO HOT THAT IT WAS BUBBLING AND THE TENINAL BOLT HAD COMPLETELY CORRODED AND FELL OFF UPON TOUCH. UPON INSPECTION, WE ALSO SAW THAT THE CORROSION HAD ALSO DAMAGED THE END OF THE BATTERY CABLE. FIVE DAYS PRIOR MY VEHICHLE WOULD NOT START AFTER DRIVING AROUND 30 MINUTES AND ALSO SAID "KEY REQUIRED" BUT WHEN I TOOK THE FOB APART TH O LOOK FOR BATTERY AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER MY CAR STARTED ON THE NEXT TRY. OTHER THAN THAT INCIDENT, THERE HAD BEEN NO PRIOR WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BATTERY AND I HAD NO ISSUES STARTING MY CAR.

I DROVE UP TO MY GYM, GOT OUT OF MY CAR, LOCKED IT AS USUAL SO NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. WENT BACK OUT TO MY CAR ABOUT 30 MIN LATER AND SAW SMOKE BILLOWING FROM WINDOWS... OPENED MY DOOR PASSENGER SIDE AND MY GLOVE COMPARTMENT WAS THE SOURCE SO I OPEN IT AND ALL I SAW WERE FLAMES LEAPING FROM THE TOP OF THE COMPARTMENT AND FLAMES COMING OUTTA THE AIR VENTS. WITHIN MINUTES THE ENTIRE GLOVE BOX COMPARTMENT AS WELL AS THE DASH ITSELF MELTED ONTO THE FLOORBOARD. SOME GENTLEMAN FOUND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT IT OUT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EVEN ARRIVED. IM JUST LUCKY I WASN'T IN IT BUT THIS HAD TO BE SOME MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN THE WIRING BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT IT STARTED ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX RIGHT WERE THE WIRE HARNESSES ENTER THE CAR THROUGH THE FIRE BREAK BETWEEN THE CAR AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

VEHICLE SHUT DOWN 2 TIMES, ONCE IN TRAFFIC, DID RESTART, SEEMINGLY BECAUSE OF LOW SYSTEM VOLTAGE CAUSED BY A PARASITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHICH HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE NEW. MULTIPLE DTC'S IN HISTORY WHICH I CAN SUPPLY, FORD OF COURSE KNOWS NOTHING, BUT I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON WEB PAGES ABOUT S550 BATTERY DRAW.

2016 FORD MUSTANG GT. EVAPORATOR HAS FAILED TWICE (1ST TIME @ 7K MILES, 2ND TIME @16K MILES). EACH FAILURE CAUSED LOSS OF AC, AND RESULTED IN A FILM BUILDING UP ON ALL INTERIOR WINDOW SURFACES. VISIBILITY WAS OBSCURED WHEN DRIVING INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE SERVICED DURING SECOND FAILURE, MOST LIKELY DUE TO R-134A REFRIGERANT LEAKING INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT?!?

THE POWER WENT OUT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, WHILE MOVING STEERING WHEEL FROZE,,TOOK TO HAVE FIXED AND POWER TRAIN WAS DAMAGED FROM REPAIRS BUT TOLD IT WAS FIXED , BUT THE DASH SCREEN KEEPS GOING OUT. NOW 3 RECALLS 2 FOR SEATBELTS, FRONT AND BACK, AND THE COOLING SYSTEM IS BEING RECALLED FOR A HOSE OR SYSTEM MALFUNCTION THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE . ALREADY HAD THE AIR ASSEMBLY FIXED , NOW THIS LATEST RECALL. ALL AROUND THIS IS AN UNSAFE CAR TO DRIVE, IT ONLY HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS HAD MAJOR DEFECTS AND SEVER THINGS GO WRONG . IT'S A LEMON

BEFORE FEB 2017, SMELLED SMOKE IN VEHICLE, BUT WAS NOT AWARE THAT THIS ISSUE WAS POSSIBLY CONNECTED TO THE NEXT ISSUE. IN FEB 2017, A/C WAS NOT WORKING AND SAW WHITE SMOKE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DON DAVIS FORD IN ARLINGTON, TX AND THEY FOUND A LEAK NEW EVAPORATOR IN A/C. THEY REPLACED HOSES UNDER THE WARRANTY. MARCH 2018 I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND NOW NEED A NEW EVAPORATOR.

AFTER ABOUT 8 MONTHS OF PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE THE BACKUP CAMERA BEGAN TO ACT UP. THE CAMERA WOULD OCCASIONALLY GO TO STATIC OR A COMPLETELY BLACK SCREEN. I HAD FINALLY MANAGED TO HAVE TAKEN A VIDEO AND PRODUCED IT FOR THE MECHANIC TO SEE. THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE SO THEY HAD BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON THE HEAT. WHILE I AGREE IT IS HOT IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SORTED OUT DURING THE DEVELOPMENT CYCLES OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CAMERA. ARIZONA THE LAST I CHECKED IS A PART OF THE UNITED STATES WHERE FORD EXISTS AS A COMPANY AND ROAD TESTS VEHICLES ON ACCOUNT OF THE HEAT. THESE ARE SITUATIONS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIGURED OUT ALREADY. YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO RELY ON BACKUP CAMERAS, BUT IN A VEHICLE LIKE THIS IT IS AN IMPORTANT WAY OF BEING ABLE TO SEE OUT THE BACK OF THE CAR AND IS A PREMIUM ITEM. THIS IS ONE OF FOUR COMPLAINTS I HAVE HAD ABOUT THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED.

PURCHASE DATE 4-16. EIGHT DOCUMENTED VISITS TO DEALER/REPAIR. OTHER VISITS WHERE SERVICE ADVISER SAID TO RETURN WHEN SYSTEM FAILURES WERE HAPPENING, AS PROBLEM WOULD RESOLVE BEFORE I ARRIVED AT SERVICE. RE WATER INSIDE, DRIVER DOOR ISSUES, SYNC, CAMERA/STEREO ELECTRICAL ISSUES INCLUDE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK AT TIMES, TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO BE GRANTED ACCESS INTO CAR, THUS CAUSING SAFETY CONCERN. SYNC GOES OUT FAIRLY REGULARLY INCLUDING PHONE FUNCTION, BACK UP CAMERA, STEREO. CURRENTLY IN SHOP AGAIN SINCE 7-3-17 @ 9 AM.(16 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THIS TRIP). SAFETY CONCERN OF MOST IMPORTANCE TO ME IS THE FACT THAT CAR HAS LOST POWER MULTIPLE TIMES ON HIGHWAY AND THANKFULLY HAS NOT YET BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. QUICK REFLEXES OF DRIVERS BEHIND ME ARE ONLY REASONS THAT ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN AVOIDED THUS FAR. I AM TOLD BY DEALER THAT THIS IS A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED AFTER A NEAR REAR END ACCIDENT ( HIGHWAY/ INTERSECTION/TURN). THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING CAR INSTANTLY DECELERATED WITH NO ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. ONE WEEK LATER THROTTLE BODY FAILS AGAIN CAUSING A NEAR ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IN NATURE DUE TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY. MY 7 YEA OLD WAS IN REAR SEAT. MY CHILDREN ARE NO LONGER FOR ANY REASON ALLOWED IN THE VEHICLE SINCE OCTOBER 2016. THROTTLE BODY HAS YET AGAIN BEEN REPLACED JUNE 2017. THIRD ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS CAR WITH NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS A REPAIR, IT SEEMS TO BE MERELY A REPAIR ATTEMPT AS THIS PROCESS OF ATTEMPTED REPAIRS HAS CAUSED 3 NEAR REAR ACCIDENTS. THIS CAR HAS PROVEN ITSELF TO BE A DANGER ON THE ROAD AND A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR ANYONE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THIS VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. LOW MILEAGE IS INDICATOR OF HOW UNTRUSTWORTHY VEHICLE IS TO ME. IT IS ONLY DRIVEN BY ME, NO PASSENGERS ALLOWED. ONLY DRIVEN IF ANOTHER CAR CAN NOT BE BORROWED. UNRESOLVED ISSUES.

FORD INTELLIGENCE/NOT SO INTELLIGENT THIS MORNING I WAS PUTTING MY 2 YEAR OLD CHILD IN HER CAR SEAT AS I NORMALLY DO WITH THE CAR STARTED AND I PLACED MY PURSE AND THE KEYS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR. AFTER SECURING MY CHILD I CLOSED THE DOOR TO WALK AROUND AND GET IN AND THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. MY CAR WAS RUNNING AND MY 2 YEAR OLD BABY WAS FRANTICALLY SCREAMING IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? WHEN I CONTACTED FORD, THEY SAID THE CAR WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO LOCK WITH THE KEYS INSIDE, SO WHY DID IT HAPPEN?

TAKATA RECALL I BEEN DEALING WITH A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND ITS BRAND NEW. EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR AND TURN IT ON AND DRIVE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES MY MUSIC TURNS OFF AND SHOWS THE HORSE SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN AND IT COMES BACK ON 10 MINUTES LATER. BUT THEN SOMETIMES IT DOES THAT AND THEN THE DISPLAY SCREEN TURNS BLACK AND I CAN'T TURN ON THE RADIO OR ANYTHING. AND THAT LAST FOR A FEW HOURS OR SO.. IT'S REALLY GETTING ANNOYING AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
