2016 Ford Mustang 2.3L Ecoboost Engine. Coolant intrusion into the cylinder. It's a known issue, an engine block design flaw. Ford was replacing the whole engine when those cars were under warranty. There is extensive content online about it and dozens of class actions.
My cars head gasket blew at only 45,000 miles. Replaced my a local well known mechanic for around $3500.00. Now my car at 96,000 miles has blown the head gasket again. I believe the car needs a whole new block. I have seen several lawsuits regarding this and just would love my car running again. This is NOT cheap to fix for me.
From what I can remember its always been an issue with cylinder 3. I was always repaired by Ford Auto Nation of Fort Worth and Auto World Repair 2021 Engine Failure: Confirmed and repaired blown head gasket 2022 Check Engine Light code P303 - Found faulty as well as ignition coil on cylinder 3 2025 Engine Failure: code P303 - Found faulty as well as ignition coil on cylinder 3 Excessive smoke during idle Cracked engine block due to coolant leak through cylinder wall
Component/system: Engine (Coolant intrusion into cylinder 1); Inspection available: Yes; Safety risk: Sudden power loss on road; Reproducibility/Confirmation: Dealer verified coolant in cylinder 1 after engine inspection; Manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others inspections: No; Warnings/symptoms: Check Engine light turned on, error code P0301, higher than normal engine temperature, low coolant in reservoir, white smoke, rough idle at turning of engine; First appeared: Around 100,000 miles.
Coolant intrusion into the cylinder head. This caused a sudden halt of he vehicle which could have caused an accident and loss of life. The engine coolant overheating temperature warning light came on. Vehicle was inspected by ford dealership and found to have blown head gasket. The car is vat for inspection.
• What failed & is it available for inspection? Air-conditioning system failure. Loss of cabin cooling; dealer recommends compressor replacement (may include related components pending contamination check). Vehicle is at a Ford dealer now; no repairs performed yet. I requested the dealer retain failed parts for inspection. • How was safety put at risk? I live in Las Vegas; ambient temps ~112°F-120 degrees. This is my primary vehicle for transporting my [XXX] and for my work schedule. With no A/C, cabin temps become dangerously high within minutes, creating a heat-related illness risk (child and driver), impaired concentration, and fatigue during necessary trips. • Has the problem been reproduced/confirmed? Yes. An independent shop first advised compressor replacement. A Ford dealer subsequently confirmed loss of cooling and produced an A/C repair estimate after diagnosis. • Inspected by manufacturer/police/insurance? Inspected/diagnosed by an authorized Ford dealer. I opened a Ford Customer Relationship Center case (XXX) and requested goodwill/after-warranty review. No police/insurance inspection. • Warning lamps/messages/symptoms & onset? No warning lights. Symptoms began with weak/intermittent cooling in early August 2025 and progressed to no cold air. Mileage at failure ~87,279. A/C clutch cycles but cabin air remains hot. (Owner context: original owner, [XXX] Vehicle: 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0.) The coolant over temperature warning light of my 2016 ford mustang ecoboost came on and the engine immediately went on limp mode and I stopped the vehicle and switched off the engine. The vehicle quickly lost power and this created safety concern for other drivers who would have bumped me. I towed the vehicle to the nearest ford dealership for inspection and they found that coolant went into the engine and the coolant bottle was empty. As a result the dealership has said that the engine engine needs to be replaced…. a big shock for me as I have never had any prior issue with this car which is only 59k illegal on the clock. After further research of my own, this seems to be a common issue with ford ecoboost engine before year 2020. What surprises me is that there was no other indication or warning before this incident which could have obstructed me to take precautionary action.
The engine on this 2016 Mustang GT is a 5-liter V-8. The 2015-2017 model years were equipped with plastic valve covers. This is a known defect with these vehicles. The plastic valve covers warp/melt/distort over time, causing motor oil to leak in significant amounts onto the exhaust manifold creating smoke and odor. There is a potential for fire in the engine compartment because of this leak. Ford issued a service bulletin regarding this known defect but has not as yet issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while stationary the vehicle's revolutions started to go up, and the vehicle kept accelerating without a reason or the accelerator being depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact then tried to look around to see if any mats or if anything else was making the vehicle accelerate on its own, but found nothing was making the vehicle accelerate. The vehicle was shut off and when the contact tried to start the vehicle, the vehicle kept accelerating on its own. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the mat air flow sensor was replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The independent mechanic was not able to provide a diagnosis. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,682.

Engine Failure. In the right situation, complete loss of power of vehicle could cause several safety problems including Injury and/or Death. The problem was determined by the dealer and Extended Warranty Inspector. There were no warning lamps or any other indications of a complete engine failure. No smoke exiting the exhaust, no contaminated oil, plenty of coolant in radiator, and was not making any noise. Reason for taking the car in for service was, on Oct 1, 2024 the gauge was acting erratic. The car never ran hot. The car was taken to the dealership on Oct 2, 2024. 2 days after, received a call with results stating that I need a complete engine replacement due to overheating and coolant found in cylinder #3.

Ford currently has a TSB (15-0192 idle smoking) out on the Ford Mustang, specifically my car. They know it is an issue, and that several people are having problems with it. But they are not considering it a recall. These cars are having heavy amounts of smoke residuals, which is both damaging to the environment, and to people’s respiratory care as it is blowing major amounts of smoke in the air, and therefore cannot pass an emissions test in my state of Virginia specifically. I believe that Ford knows this is an issue and it should be considered a recall based on current Efficiency and energy standards for vehicles.
The 2016 used car that I bought in 2017 with 20,711 miles has a defective ecoboost engine that leaks coolant on to the cylinder heads & causes engine failure. The vehicle has less than 100,000 miles & is currently in engine failure. Ford knew about this defective engine & never sent me a recall. There are class action lawsuits in CA & DE against FORD for the same ECOBOOST engine in my car. They want to charge me $12,000 for a new engine. I had a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty expire due to 5 yrs expiration & not the mileage, during covid while the car sat in front of the house & was barely driven. Once covid lifted restrictions I drove to Florida & put some miles on it locally & the engine is failing. This is absolutely absurd & Ford should be held accountable & be investigated in the state of MD for consumer fraud. This defective ecoboost engine dates back to 2012. They never should have sold me a car with a defective engine
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that when purchasing the vehicle they noticed the instrument panel had failed to illuminate. Then while driving at approximately 20 MPH the red wrench displayed on the instrument panel and there was a loud noise coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle began shaking and emitting a burning oil odor. The contact lost control of the vehicle before it stalled and a spark of fire came from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact was able to get out of the vehicle where they watched black smoke come from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was oil all over the road. The fire department was not called. A police report was not made. The contact had received a concussion from hitting their head on the steering wheel when losing control of the vehicle. Medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where they diagnosed that the piston dropped through the turbo causing a hole in the engine. The engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and it was confirmed the VIN was not covered under a recall or warranty. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was 52,109.

A warning light appeared warning that the engine was overheating. However the temperature hand never indicated this. I pulled over immediately and turned the car off. I had it towed to a dealership that would accept my extended warranty. They discovered that the engine block was cracked and that the vehicle will need the engine replaced. My warranty company will not cover it because they said it is a known defect from ford. I know that ford had this same issue on other ecoboost engines but mine is a 2.3l and they have not included that one in the recall.

The bolts holding on the valve covers were not torqued correctly and were finger loose when I found them. I was lead to this discovery because there was a constant burning smell which turned out to be oil leaking out and falling on the exhaust. I found out on a forum that this seems to be a very common problem with 15-17 Mustangs. Additionally, there is a Technical Service Bulletin out explaining to mechanics that Ford did not add enough bolts to hold the valve covers on, leaving 4 or 5 blanks on both sides. Also, the newer 5.0 engines have all the necessary bolts, so basically, Ford thought they could save money by skipping 8-10 bolts on each car. I've already spoken to a Ford dealership and they said they'll have to charge me (unsure of how much yet) to repair a car they didn't build right in the first place! Please look into this.
Defective Head Gasket. Causing lack of power while on freeway. Car slowed in speed greatly. Independent service has confirmed water in cylinder #1. CEL did come on.
I purchased the vehicle new and have driven it 21085 miles. Since I've owned it, I have had to add 23 quarts of additional oil to keep it full (1qt. every 500-1000 miles). After a couple complaints to Ford, they have advised me that this amount of oil consumption in this vehicle is normal. My warranty expires in March and I'm concerned about the cost of repair after the warranty is up. From a safety standpoint, I'm concerned if the engine were to run out of oil in a traffic situation. I am 74 years old and use the car for weekend, summer pleasure. I don't race it and don't allow others to drive it. Please let me know if other similar vehicles have this issue and if anything can be done. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle was jerking, and the contact became aware that smoke was coming from underneath the hood. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty water pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

My car is a single owner car, that has documentation of regular oil changes, engine upkeep, and general maintenance since its purchase in 2016. No major issues had been experienced until August, 2023. While driving the car home from work, I felt an immediate loss of power from the engine, my a/c went out, and an error flashed saying the temperature sensor for the cylinder heads showed the engine was overheating. So, in 100+ °F weather, I pulled the car over and turned it off. I let it sit for just over 15 minutes before turning it back on, only to find the car was still in failsafe mode. With less than five miles to return home, I drove, a car that refused to get up to 25 mph in the blazing heat (and no a/c), back home. I immediately called my local Ford dealership and set up an appointment to bring it in the next week, their soonest available appointment. In the meantime, I had to find people to carpool to work with. The next Monday, the car is brought in, and that day I’m informed the cylinder head cracked and I’d need a new engine. I couldn’t believe it. I’d always taken care of my car, never put it under any type of undue stress, how could the cylinder head have cracked? The dealership explained the damage was due to a well-known defect in the design of the engine. I was still flabbergasted. The engine fails, not through fault of the user, but from bad design on the part of the manufacturer, and I’m still the one responsible to pay $8,000 for a new engine? I am disappointed Ford put out a car with engines that WILL eventually fail, and then chooses to force their customers to be financially responsible for their error. My engine losing power with absolutely no notice could have resulted in a life threatening car accident had I chosen to drive the freeway that day, or could have forced me into unsafe situations had I been traveling. I will never buy a Ford again based on this experience and the business practices displayed.
My car started to show a check engine light on around 103,000 miles. After getting a check engine light reading, the code was a misfire p0303 on cylinder 3. I took the car to a mechanic and was told the head gasket was blown and coolant was leaking into it.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was a crack in the cylinder head and the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

2016 Ford Mustang V6 This is EXTREMELY concerning as it's a SAFETY issue losing power features while the vehicle is in motion. While driving the car provides an error message with a wrench sign/icon stating the transmission is not in Park, then it proceeds to shut down the car leaving us without power steering. The car need stopped, move the transmission to Park, and start the engine. Doing this clears the warning and you are able to drive the car without any problem. The two incidents occurrences were about 1 or 2 months apart. Below link shows other people having the same issue [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
This specific car model is a 2016 Shelby GT350 tech package that I owned for at least 7 months. In this time period i had only put 7k mikes on it before it blew up. After doing tons of research there is a tons of class action law suits against Ford for these cars. The incident that occurred was while driving the vehicle caught fire on the passenger side. Driving at the speed limit of 40 MPH no warning lights, Check engine lights or anything it just blew up. Up to this point all maitence was done properly and after doing some research it had the same issue report by multiple other Shelby owners of this year. This vehicle is not safe for the roads and if not properly investigated, it can cause someone to lose their life. I incurred a bruised head, burns and loss of hair from this accident. I’ve contacted Ford in regards to this issue and yet to have anything done. This vehicle should not be sold to the public with these known issues. There was recall sent out to fix this issue but my specific vin number was never contacted to fix it.
My check engine light came on it was cylinder 2 misfire. Sputtering and stalling in traffic. Slow to excelarate, started losing coolant and blowing white smoke on start up. Stuck in traffic. Then the turbo blew out. Replaced turbo, replaced spark plugs replaced edition coil. Still cylinder 2 misfire. Still a rough idle, Still dies in traffic Still losing coolant, dies unexpectedly and then won't start. Replaced fuel pump about 3 years ago for it dying in the middle of sams club traffic lane. Currently issues with the other problems listed above. Have found out this is a common problem with these motors. I called Ford and was told it's because I have 112,000 miles on my car. I've never missed a service, never driven the car hard, never over heated it. I have taken excellent car of this vehicle. Currently waiting for another diagnostic test. We pay to much for these cars to be stuck in traffic and have the engines go out and so many problems with them. Yes this car can be inspected at any time. Ford needs to recall this engine and fix its mistake. This is not okay. And it's dangerous to continue to let people drive these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The engine on my 2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is malfunctioning. My vehicle's RPM drop extremely low then rev high, then the car almosts cut off when I drive at low speeds, park, or stop at lights/stop signs. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -I stopped driving my car any further than 10-15 mile distances because I was afraid the car may cut off while I'm driving down the road in traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -I took my car to 3 different Ford dealerships, in Mississippi, North Carolina and Maryland. The first could not replicate the issue or find any issues, the second dealer whom I paid approximately $700 for repairs had my car for 3 weeks because they couldn't find the issue, so they replaced my spark plugs and an ignition coil and said it should be good. The third Ford dealership didn't diagnose it truly they just said it was leaking coolant so it had to be an internal coolant leak that has damaged my engine (causing a misfire), based on a Ford TSB that has apparently been out for a long time. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -It was inspected by 3 different Ford dealerships. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -The first time I had this symptom was in the spring of 2021, but it was a one time thing and it went away. The next time I noticed the issue was around July of 2021 which is when I took it to the Ford dealership near me in Mississippi. The first time the check engine light came on was in April of 2022 when I arrived in Maryland after I took it to the repair shop in North Carolina. Note: I was in the process of moving from Mississippi to the DC area, otherwise I wouldn't have even driven it that far.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the mechanic discovered a misfire in cylinder #3. The coil and the spark plug in cylinder #3 were replaced; however, the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated as the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic where they discovered that the coolant level was low and recommended that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the diagnostic test discovered that coolant had leaked into cylinder #3 and that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Failure of Driver side Valve cover- leaking oil and valve cover bolts were completely loose. Both valve covers are prone to failure according to tsb 19-2309. Note: The engine block is designed to have 13 bolts to secure and seal valve covers to engine. Instead of using a 13 bolt valve cover, ford used 9 bolt valve covers for 3 consecutive years which deviates from the engine design. Safety concern- the discharge of combustible oil in and around engine bay and other engine components. engine components which are flammable and or susceptible to damage as a result from contact of leaking oil from failed valve covers and bolts. This failure could also result in catastrophic engine failure depending on when this failure occurs, if it goes unnoticed, and how bad it is. This problem has been confirmed by ford via tsb 19-2309 which instructs the removal of both valve covers, drilling 4 holes in each valve cover, replacing valve cover gasket’s, and adding 4 additional bolts to each valve cover upon complete re-assembly. This problem has been reproduced sufficient amounts for a TSB to be in place. An important NOTE with TSB 19-2309 is that it does not instruct the need to drill threaded holes into the engine block for 8 additional valve cover bolts because they are already present. The holes are simply covered up by the 9 bolt valve covers and go unused. Vehicle has been inspected by a Certified mechanic/ business outside of Ford dealership/company. No warning lights of any kind appeared. The issue was noticed on 4/9/2022 during a routine oil change and inspection. Car currently has 35,000 miles and is not being driven or started. Why is ford not willing to do the right thing by proactively recalling for this issue?
Purchased the car around 40k miles. Did all the maintenance required for 3-4 years with it now at 98k miles. On the evening near Christmas eve as i was at the red light making a right turn i heard clank from the bottom of my engine, then metal pieces were falling off to the ground. Smoke was coming out from the engine, with the oil pressure illuminating light on. I pulled over to see a trail of oil, while looking under I saw a big whole on the bottom of the engine block. Good thing it didn't happened when I was driving at a higher speed and I was by myself vs having my kids with me. Geico would not cover my blown engine, and ford knows this is a known issue referring to "Ecoboom" but i no longer have warranty with them. Car has been sitting at the shop pending 6500 to have the engine replaced. With covid times we are living in right now i dont know what else to do.
Engine threw a rod and damaged several pistons. Car has only 86,000 miles on it. Routine maintenance was done on schedule. No warning lights or symptoms were present before the incident. This will now require a full engine replacement. The incident happened while driving causing a major loss of power and eventually the inability to safely get my vehicle out of traffic. My car is still sitting at my mechanic and is available for inspection. It was only diagnosed and no repairs have been performed. The current COVID situation has made it impossible to even secure a replacement engine. Ford should be held accountable based on the number of related issues reported. I’m now paying on a car I can’t drive or repair l.
WHILE COMING TO A STOP WITH THE CLUTCH PRESSED IN THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS NOW JUST BEGAN HAPPENING, ALTHOUGH IT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME TWICE IN 1 MONTHS TIME. I HAVE ALSO BEEN READING ON S550 MUSTANG FORUMS (YEARS 2015 - PRESENT) THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS. IT SEEMS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OR SOMETHING AS THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH COMPLETELY STOCK CARS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS, AND ALSO PEOPLE WITH 2018+ NEWER MUSTANGS AS WELL.

AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 5 MONTHS (59,000 MI) THE ENGINE BLEW UP WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY AND DROPPED ALL OF ITS OIL. THE ECOBOOST MUSTANGS ARE INCREDIBLY PRONE TO THIS ISSUE AND FORD IS JUST SWEEPING THEM UNDER THE RUG. FORD HAD MY CAR FOR 4 MONTHS WHEN IT WAS MISFIRING (WHICH IS HOW "ECOBOOM" BEGINS) AND REPLACED ALMOST EVERYTHING UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY MINUS THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND TURBOCHARGER. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK IT STARTED TO JUMP TIMING THEN MISFIRE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STOPPED. THEN THE ENGINE BLEW UP.

AT APPROXIMATELY 61,000 MILES, THE ORIGINAL ENGINE STOPPED WORKING. CYLINDER #3 GAVE OUT. POSSIBLY A LSPI CONDITION. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED UNDER CPO WARRANTY. MY NEW ENGINE HAS NOW GIVEN OUT AT 36,000 MILES. ON THE 1ST ENGINE, I CAME FROM FORD DEALER AFTER COMPLAINING OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON. OIL WAS CHANGED, CODES CLEARED. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 4 CITY BLOCKS, ACCELERATED FROM A STOP LIGHT, AND THE ENGINE STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE AND I PULLED IT OFF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE TO BE FULLY REPLACED, AT 61,000 MILES, A LONG BLOCK, NOT A SHORT BLOCK. ON MY SECOND ENGINE, WHICH HAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES ON IT, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND AN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE. AFTER PARKING IT, THE NEXT TIME I STARTED IT UP IT WAS BLOWING WHITE SMOKE AGAIN. I DIAGNOSES AT THE DEALER IS UNDERWAY.

SHELBY GT350 5.2L V8: ENGINE OIL FILTER SPINS LOOSE, CAUSING CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF OIL. STREET USE ONLY, NO TRACK DAYS. CAR DEALER SERVICED ONLY. DEALER DENIED FAULT, SAID OIL FILTER COMING LOOSE WAS "NORMAL" FOR THIS MODEL.

SHELBY GT350 5.2L V8: ENGINE VALVE COVER GASKET FAILURE CAUSED OIL LOSS AND FIRE IN ENGINE BAY--OIL BURNING ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD. SMOKE UNDER HOOD AND INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WITH MANUFACTURER'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. OIL SPRAY FROM VALVE COVER GASKET ONTO EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH MEDIUM RPM (~3000 RPM) AND HIGHER.

SHELBY GT350 5.2L V8: EXHAUST INFILTRATION INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. MODERATE TO HIGH RPM OPERATION CAUSES EXHAUST SMELL TO ENTER INTO PASSENGER AREA. WORSE WITH AIR CONDITIONER OFF THAN ON.
SHELBY GT350 5.2L V8: ENGINE BURNS COPIOUS VOLUMES OF ENGINE OIL. POTENTIAL FOR OWNER TO LET ENGINE RUN DRY AND SEIZE DURING NORMAL OIL CHANGE INTERVAL. ENGINE HAS BURNED GREATER THAN 1 QT OIL PER 1000 MI OVER 47000+ MI, AND MOST RECENTLY BURNED 8 QT OVER LESS THAN 4000 MI.
VEHICLE SHUT DOWN 2 TIMES, ONCE IN TRAFFIC, DID RESTART, SEEMINGLY BECAUSE OF LOW SYSTEM VOLTAGE CAUSED BY A PARASITIC DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHICH HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE NEW. MULTIPLE DTC'S IN HISTORY WHICH I CAN SUPPLY, FORD OF COURSE KNOWS NOTHING, BUT I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON WEB PAGES ABOUT S550 BATTERY DRAW.

STARTED MY CAR THIS MORNING AND AS I WAS BACKING OUT, I NOTICED IT WAS IDLING ROUGHLY, CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE. WHEN STOPPED, THE CAR FELT LIKE IT MIGHT DIE AND THE RPM WAS INCONSISTENT WHILE ACCELERATING AND THE CAR WAS MOVING. VERY ROUGH RIDING. ALSO, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND BEGIN BLINKING.

DRIVING ON THE DALLAS, TX HIGHWAY 35- RLTHORNTON HEADED SOUND IN THE PEAK OF TRAFFIC IN THE FAST LANE (FAR LEFT HAND LANE) GOING ABOUT 35MILES AND CAR STOPS. MY FEET WAS PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATION BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. NO ENGINE WARMING OR LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CARS BEHIND BE BEGAN TO SWERVE AND BRAKE TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME. THE ABRUPT ENGINE SHUT OFF COULD HAVE CAUSED ACCIDENTS OR EVEN WORSE FATALITIES. (MY LIFE) BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNMOVABLE AND FAILED TO START, 911 HAD TO BE CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE WITH GETTING ME OUT OF ARMS WAY OF OTHER DRIVERS AND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, TO INFORM THEM OF THE MATTER. HAD THE CAR TOWED AT THE EXPENSE OF $120 DOLLARS. 2 DAYS HAVE PASSED AND MY CAR HASN'T BEEN LOOKED IT. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY MIGHT GET TO MY CAR BY FRIDAY, 8/31 AND THAT NO RENTALS WERE AVAILABLE. MY BIGGEST CONCERNED IS THE SAFETY OF MY LIFE AND OTHERS. AFTER RESEARCHING AROUND IT APPEARS THAT OTHERS HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THE MUSTANG IS FORDS BIGGEST SELLER BUT CONSUMERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW OF ANY ISSUES SUCH AS THIS BEING REPORTED. WHY, BECAUSE LIVES MATTER.

THE POWER WENT OUT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, WHILE MOVING STEERING WHEEL FROZE,,TOOK TO HAVE FIXED AND POWER TRAIN WAS DAMAGED FROM REPAIRS BUT TOLD IT WAS FIXED , BUT THE DASH SCREEN KEEPS GOING OUT. NOW 3 RECALLS 2 FOR SEATBELTS, FRONT AND BACK, AND THE COOLING SYSTEM IS BEING RECALLED FOR A HOSE OR SYSTEM MALFUNCTION THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE . ALREADY HAD THE AIR ASSEMBLY FIXED , NOW THIS LATEST RECALL. ALL AROUND THIS IS AN UNSAFE CAR TO DRIVE, IT ONLY HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS HAD MAJOR DEFECTS AND SEVER THINGS GO WRONG . IT'S A LEMON

ON 4/28, 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON FLORIDA'S TURNPIKE AT 65 MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR DECELERATED AND LOST POWER, GOING INTO LIMP MODE. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED, BUT CLEARLY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

CAR IN MOTION; ON 10/09/2017 - I WAS DRIVING 80 MPH (WHICH IS THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT), ON MAJOR TEXAS HIGHWAY 130 TOLL ROAD, ENGINE STALLED, CAR HARD TO CONTROL, DIFFICULT TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES, AFTER 7 OR 8 TIMES IT FINALLY STARTED. IT HAD A ROUGH IDLE, AND CONTINUED TO STALL OUT 6 MORE TIMES FOR THE REMAINING 30 MILES UNTIL I REACHED MY HOME. THERE ARE NO STORES, OR SAFE PLACES TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD ON THIS TOLL ROAD, AND IT IS A VERY LONG STRETCH OF HIGHWAY TO BE LEFT STRANDED ON. I'VE CONTACTED FORD SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, MY CAR IS A 2016 MUSTANG WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW...
Mileage: 46,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HAVE HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FRIENDLY FORD OF CROSBY DEALER LOCATED AT 2425 US-90, CROSBY, TX 77532; (800) 568-9561 WHERE THE GAS KIT WAS REFILLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ODOR WAS GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-568-9561 AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND A CASE NUMBER 12966085 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,835.

PURCHASE DATE 4-16. EIGHT DOCUMENTED VISITS TO DEALER/REPAIR. OTHER VISITS WHERE SERVICE ADVISER SAID TO RETURN WHEN SYSTEM FAILURES WERE HAPPENING, AS PROBLEM WOULD RESOLVE BEFORE I ARRIVED AT SERVICE. RE WATER INSIDE, DRIVER DOOR ISSUES, SYNC, CAMERA/STEREO ELECTRICAL ISSUES INCLUDE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK AT TIMES, TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO BE GRANTED ACCESS INTO CAR, THUS CAUSING SAFETY CONCERN. SYNC GOES OUT FAIRLY REGULARLY INCLUDING PHONE FUNCTION, BACK UP CAMERA, STEREO. CURRENTLY IN SHOP AGAIN SINCE 7-3-17 @ 9 AM.(16 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THIS TRIP). SAFETY CONCERN OF MOST IMPORTANCE TO ME IS THE FACT THAT CAR HAS LOST POWER MULTIPLE TIMES ON HIGHWAY AND THANKFULLY HAS NOT YET BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. QUICK REFLEXES OF DRIVERS BEHIND ME ARE ONLY REASONS THAT ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN AVOIDED THUS FAR. I AM TOLD BY DEALER THAT THIS IS A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED AFTER A NEAR REAR END ACCIDENT ( HIGHWAY/ INTERSECTION/TURN). THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING CAR INSTANTLY DECELERATED WITH NO ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. ONE WEEK LATER THROTTLE BODY FAILS AGAIN CAUSING A NEAR ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IN NATURE DUE TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY. MY 7 YEA OLD WAS IN REAR SEAT. MY CHILDREN ARE NO LONGER FOR ANY REASON ALLOWED IN THE VEHICLE SINCE OCTOBER 2016. THROTTLE BODY HAS YET AGAIN BEEN REPLACED JUNE 2017. THIRD ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS CAR WITH NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS A REPAIR, IT SEEMS TO BE MERELY A REPAIR ATTEMPT AS THIS PROCESS OF ATTEMPTED REPAIRS HAS CAUSED 3 NEAR REAR ACCIDENTS. THIS CAR HAS PROVEN ITSELF TO BE A DANGER ON THE ROAD AND A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR ANYONE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THIS VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. LOW MILEAGE IS INDICATOR OF HOW UNTRUSTWORTHY VEHICLE IS TO ME. IT IS ONLY DRIVEN BY ME, NO PASSENGERS ALLOWED. ONLY DRIVEN IF ANOTHER CAR CAN NOT BE BORROWED. UNRESOLVED ISSUES.

TAKATA RECALL. THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR IS THAT THE ENGINE IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE COMING TO A STOP. WHETHER THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGED ALL THE WAY OR IF IT'S JUST IN NEUTRAL. SUDDENLY THE RPM'S JUST DROP TO ZERO AND I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR AGAIN BY HITTING THE START ENGINE BUTTON. THIS HAD HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST FEW COUPLE OF MONTHS. OTHER THAN THAT THE CAR STILL RUNS SMOOTH AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE. I HAVE ALMOST 18000 MILES ON IT. I REALLY HOPE FORD COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEMS IS.
Mileage: 16,000
ENGINE OIL COOLER TUBE ASSEMBLIES LEAK BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWICE PROBLEM NOT FIXED, YESTERDAY 4/12/17 BROUGHT THE CAR AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS SAYING THE COUJLD NOT FINISH THE JOB TODAY AND WANTS TO KEEP THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND FOR FURTHER REPAIRS. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THIS CAR, WE WANT TO USE THE CAR INSTEAD OF HAVING THE CAR I N THE REPAIR SHOP!

ROUGH IDLE WITH NO THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE IN DRIVE. ENGINE DIED AND WOULDN'T RESTART. WAS TAKEN INTO FORD FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM A FEW MONTHS AGO AND I REPORTED IT HERE. THE FIRST REPAIR WAS RECORDED AS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE!
Mileage: 12,600
IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 5000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS USING OIL EXCESSIVELY. IT IS USING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 600-900 MILES AND IS GETTING WORSE. I HAVE BROUGHT IN TO FORD TWICE. BOTH TIMES THEY SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. BUT, I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THEM LAST FRIDAY ON 10-21-16 AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE PUTTING A NEW ENGINE IN THE CAR AS THEY FEAR THE NEW ENGINE WILL DO THE SAME THING. THEY SAID THEY "MAY HAVE A FIX NEXT SPRING." I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR REGIONAL REP CALLED ME BACK. SHE ONLY OFFERED ME A MAINTENANCE PLAN FOR FREE OIL CHANGES. THIS IS WORTHLESS TO ME AND MY CURRENT PROBLEM AS IT DOESN'T NEED OIL CHANGES AND DOES NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEY ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND HAVE NO REPAIR FOR IT, I ASKED THEM TO BUY THE CAR BACK. THEY REFUSED.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2016 MUSTANG IN APRIL. I WAS DRIVING UPHILL AT 40 MPH. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE ENGINE CUT OFF. WHEN THE ENGINE WENT OFF A LARGE WRENCH CAME UP ON THE DISPLAY AND IT SAID SEE MANUAL. I TRIED PRESSING THE START BUTTON BUT IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. THIS COULD EASILY LEAD TO DEATH! IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON THE BELTWAY OR I-95 I COULD GET KILLED. THE CAR DIDN'T OVERHEAT AND ALL THE GAUGES SHOWED NORMAL. NOW I AM AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE IT; I DON'T WANT TO BE KILLED OR KILL SOMEONE IF THE ENGINE STOPS.
Mileage: 6,100
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND NO ACCELERATION WAS POSSIBLE. THE TROUBLE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WOULD ONLY ROLL AT 10MPH WITH ENGINE POWER. THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT CONTROL THE MOTOR SPEED. CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I JUST PULLED IN TO A PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS TO GET THE CAR HOME USING SIDE STREETS AT 10MPH. LAST YEAR A GUY IN HIS 2015 MUSTANG ASKED ME IF I HAD THIS PROBLEM AS HE EXPLAINED THE SAME SITUATION WHEN I ALSO OWNED A 2015 MUSTANG. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT WITH THE 2015, BUT I JUST BOUGHT IT WHEN WE TALKED. I KNOW WHAT HE MEANS NOW. AS MY 2016 DID WHAT HIS 2015 DID WITH A LOSS OF POWER.
Mileage: 8,300
DURING NORMAL DRIVING DURING 5PM TRAFFIC, THE CAR SHUDDERED, A WRENCH ICON CAME ON THE SCREEN, THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME ON A 4 LANE ROAD WITH MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. AFTER PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON 2-3 TIMES, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO DEALERSHIP. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMS TO THINK IT IS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY.
Mileage: 5,100
I JUST PURCHASED MY BRAND NEW 2016 MUSTANG LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE ALREADY BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH IT. I WAS STATIONARY WAITING AT THE STOP LIGHT AND SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR 3 TIMES AND MY CAR WOULDN'T BUDGE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE STREET. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY THEN SHUT OFF. A WEEK LATER I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY AND MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITH NO WARNING. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON THIS TIME. I JUST TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD THROTTLE BODY.
Mileage: 4,300
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 2 MPH. THE SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE DUE TO THE FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,814.

LOST POWER IN INSANELY BUSY IRVING/DALLAS INTERSECTION NEAR MAJOR HIGHWAY - COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE ACCIDENT! 5400 PLUS MILES. FORD 2016 MUSTANG, V6 FROM A STANDING POSITION, SECOND CAR IN LINE AT RED LIGHT. LIGHT CHANGES, TRAFFIC STARTS TO MOVE, I STEPPED ON GAS AND NOTHING! HAD TO CREEP ACROSS TWO LANES OF BUSY TRAFFIC AND LIMP UP ONTO A SIDEWALK AS THAT THERE WAS NO BREAKDOWN SHOULDER. THAN GOD THE CURB WAS ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES HIGH. WRENCH ICON ON DASH: "SEE MANUAL". TURNED ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON - RPMS SURGED TO THE RED AND THEN DROPPED TO BELOW 1000. TRIED THE OFF/ON THING ABOUT 3 TIMES - SAME RESULTS. ENGINE WAS CHUGGING, MISSING, EVEN EXHAUST WAS CHUGGING LIKE SOME OLD JALOPY! CHECKED THE ELECTRONIC GAUGE READINGS - EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL EXCEPT THE VACUUM PRESSURE - IT WAS BETWEEN 5 AND 0! AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO DEALERSHIP, FORD ROADSIDE ASSIST AND TOW COMPANY; TURNED CAR OFF AGAIN - 30 SECONDS TO A MINUTE LATER, RESTARTED IT - AND IT WAS RUNNING PERFECT - ENGINE LIGHT HOWEVER WAS ON. VACUUM LEVEL WAS RUNNING BETWEEN 17 AND 20. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP; IT'S A WEEK NOW AND I HAVE JUST LEARNED FROM THEM THAT IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY. WAS TOLD THAT "FORD HAD A BAD BATCH OF THESE" ON THIS ENGINE SIZE (V6). THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REP STATED IT'S TAKEN AS LONG AS A "COUPLE OF MONTHS" BUT FORD IS GETTING FASTER AT GETTING THE PART OUT, SO IT COULD BE A WEEK TO TWO WEEKS TO GET IT IN. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM FOR EXPLORERS - FROM JUN 5TH 2016 - STATING THAT FORD HAD 7000 THROTTLE BODIES ON BACK ORDER! THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH THESE THINGS LOSING POWER LIKE THIS ON HIGHWAYS AND IN MAJOR TRAFFIC. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS THROTTLE BODY!
Mileage: 5,400
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,800.
