Throttle stuck and vehicle accelerated out of control. Had to brake hard and turn off engine to prevent crash. Speed Control Cable disconnected from cruise control. It has been repaired since the incident. Yes, was reproduced by the tow truck driver as well as at a service center. No warnings, only high engine revving noise as it happened, high RPMs and high speed noticeable on dashboard as my car's acceleration stuck. Case #FCAS37586176 reported to Ford company.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle failed to slow down as needed while depressing the brake to make a left turn. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted the gear shifter to park; however, while parked the RPM rose to 5,000 RPM. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,530.

Car engine accelerate on own. Tac meter shows over 3,000 RPM when I put it in neutral. I have to tap the accelerator and it goes back to normal. This happens about once a week now. I was slowing down for a stoplight and it happened. Brakes were not enough. Almost hit a car. Only by throwing into neutral allowed me to gain control and stop. My mechanic couldn’t find anything. I cannot allow anyone else to drive this as I am the only one familiar to handle it. I’ll probably sell it on a trade. I’ve read dozens of reports of this but no recall. I am surprised. THE THROTTLE STICKS OPEN AND THE ENGINE REVS HIGH MAKING IT HARD TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE IS HOLDING THE THROTTLE OPEN BECAUSE OF A FAULTY ATTACHMENT TO THE THROTTLE CONTROL. THIS IS A KNOWN AND WIDE PROBLEM. PEOPLE ARE BANDAGING THE PROBLEM WITH BACK YARD FIXES THAT CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. NOT FIRST TIME.

I WAS DRIVING ON A 2-LANE HIGHWAY WITH A RELATIVELY STEEP DOWNHILL GRADE. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT IT WAS JUST ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY, BUT I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT THE THROTTLE MUST BE OPEN SINCE I WAS QUICKLY ACCELERATING TO SPEEDS ABOVE 65MPH, AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT AS EFFECTIVE AS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN IF THE ACCELERATION WERE DUE ONLY TO THE HILL. I SAW A PLACE UP AHEAD TO PULL OVER, BUT I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK VERY QUICKLY AND TURNED IT OFF SINCE THE ENGINE WAS RACING. THERE WAS A GREAT DEAL OF SMOKE COMING FROM MY FRONT BRAKES, WHICH WAS VERY DISCONCERTING. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE HAD COME UNFASTENED AND HAD CAUSED THE THROTTLE TO STICK OPEN. THIS SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS AND I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

2/15/17- WHILE COASTING UP-HILL WITH FOOT NOT ON THE GAS, CAR ACCELERATED TO OVER 4,000 RPM ALL BY ITSELF, BRAKING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I PARKED, TURNED CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND EVEN WHILE PARKED IT REVVED BACK UP TO OVER 4,000 RPM. TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE ON 2/16/17- THEY REPLACED THE IAC (IDLE AIR CONTROL) VALVE. 3/3/17- WHILE IDLING AT RED LIGHT WITH FOOT NOT ON THE GAS, CAR ACCELERATED/ REVVED UP TO OVER 4,000 RPM ALL BY ITSELF. HAD TO PRESS ON BRAKE VERY HARD AND TURN CAR OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS NO LONGER ACCELERATING. 3/4/14 TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT FIRESTONE. THEY ADJUSTED CRUISE CONTROL CABLE. 9/3/17- WHILE IDLING ON A BRIDGE WITH FOOT NOT ON THE GAS, CAR ACCELERATED/ REVVED UP TO OVER 3,000 RPM ALL BY ITSELF. BRAKING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND HAD TO TURN CAR OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS NO LONGER ACCELERATING BY ITSELF. 9/4/17 TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE. THEY ORDERED A NEW IAC VALVE AND REPLACED IT ON 9/7/17. 10/14/17- WHILE IDLING IN TRAFFIC WITH FOOT VERY LIGHT ON BRAKE, CAR ACCELERATED/ REVVED UP TO OVER 4,000 RPM ALL BY ITSELF. HAD TO QUICKLY TURN CAR OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC TO STOP IT. TURNED CAR BACK ON AND IT WAS NO LONGER ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE CONSUMER STATED ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURRED ON 10/28/2017*JS

ON THE AFTERNOON OF SUNDAY, JULY 24TH, 2016, OUR 2006 FORD TAURUS BEGAN ACCELERATING OUT OF CONTROL ON ITS OWN ACCORD WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IN WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS. WE TRIED TO BRAKE THE CAR, BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO COMPETE AGAINST THE RAPID ACCELERATION. WE ENDED UP PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL, AND THEN IN PARK, AND BRING IT TO A STOP (ALBEIT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET) WHERE IT WAS STILL REACHING UPWARDS OF 4,500 RPMS. VERY DISCONCERTING. AS WE COULD NOT DRIVE ANY FURTHER LIKE THIS, WE SHUT IT OFF, GOT OUT, AND CALLED AAA FOR A TOW, WHICH ARRIVED ALMOST TWO HOURS LATER AFTER WE SAT IN THE HOT AFTERNOON SUN AND WERE DIVERTING TRAFFIC AROUND OUR DISABLED VEHICLE. BEING THAT WE WERE TRAVELING WITH TWO OTHER GUESTS AND THE TOW TRUCK COULD ONLY ACCOMMODATE 2 PEOPLE MAX FOR THE TRIP BACK TO RHODE ISLAND (OVER 40 MILES AWAY), THE DRIVER TRIED TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE PROBLEM ON THE SPOT. HE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND SHOWED US THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE HAD BECOME UNCLIPPED AND FALLEN OFF. HE THEN LUBED IT UP, REATTACHED IT, AND HAD US DO A COUPLE OF TESTS TO SEE IF IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THANKFULLY IT WAS, AND WE SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY WERE ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, WE BECAME AWARE THAT THIS WAS AND IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH OUR YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF CAR, AND THAT AN INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN OPENED INTO IT. WE ARE ALSO AWARE THAT, AT THAT TIME, FORD HAD LAUNCHED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN" TO FIX OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL CABLES. WHILE WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME THAT DAY, WE ARE NOT THRILLED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED BY FORD. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THREE SEPARATE PEOPLE AT FORD AT THIS POINT, AND ALL HAVE REFUSED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD FOR US.

RECENTLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CRUISE CONTROL COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT I WAS SLOWING FOR A RED LIGHT AND I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS REVVING UP IN GEARS AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET MY CAR TO STOP AND I SHUT IT DOWN TO PREVENT ACCIDENT. AFTER THE RED LIGHT WAS OVER I STARTED UP MY CAR AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THAT IS WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. WITHOUT PRESSING MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL MY CAR WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE UP TO ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE 14 ISSUES LIKE THIS REPORTED AND OTHERS THAT WERE NOT REPORTED (FOR INSTANCE THIS HAPPENED TO MY SISTER'S 2005 FORD TAURUS AND SHE HAD TO REPAIR IT OUT OF HER OWN POCKET). I WANTED TO PROVIDE THIS REPORT BECAUSE FORD IS REFUSING TO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE DESPITE THIS BEING A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND WHILE MOVING.

IT ONLY WOULD TAKE ONCE OR TWICE FOR IT TO TURN ON NORMALLY WITHOUT ANY SUDDEN ACCELERATION. BUT TODAY, AFTER ANOTHER INCIDENT OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION AS I WAS GOING ABOUT 27 MPH, EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR REVVED ON IT'S OWN AND IT BEGAN ACCELERATING. I PUT IT IN PARK FAST AND TURNED OFF THE CAR; BUT, EVERY TIME I TURNED IT ON, THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T STOP ACCELERATING. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CONTINUED TO BRAKE. I STOPPED A FEW CARLINKS AWAY FROM ANYONE AND THE CAR WAS STILL REVVING VERY HIGH. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT REVVED IMMEDIATELY, IT PULLED FORWARD AS SOON AS IT WAS IN DRIVE AND I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THEY AGAIN REPLACED AIR CONTROL VALVE AND THE PROBLEM STILL WAS PRESENT AND I WAS TOLD TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP. TOOK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THE MOST RECENT AIR CONTROL VALVE PLACED BY FIRESTONE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY REPLACED AIR CONTROL VALVE WITH FORD EXCLUSIVE PART. PICKED CAR UP AND UPON LEAVING THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I TURNED THE CAR AROUND AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT AGAIN. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. TWO WEEKS LATER THE PROBLEM APPEARED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. BEGINNING A FEW MONTHS AGO (NOVEMBER 2012), MY 2006 FORD TAURUS HAS HAD A COUPLE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THESE FEW INCIDENTS HAVE CORRESPONDED WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPING TO WORK. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER FOR REPAIRS, AS I WAS NOT NEAR MY PLACE OF RESIDENCE. THEY REPLACED THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. HOWEVER, AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON AUGUST 12,2012, AT A SPEED BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, MY TAURUS BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AGAIN ON ITS OWN. EXITED THE INTERSTATE AFTER USING CRUISE CONTROL. APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MILES AFTER EXITING I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN DUE TO TRAFFIC. RPM REVVED UP AND CAR SEEMED TO BE FIGHTING ME - IT WANTED TO GO FASTER BUT I WANTED TO SLOW DOWN. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES FROM MY HOME AND BASICALLY WAS APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES OFF AND ON. I STOPPED IN A SCHOOL ZONE FOR BUS TRAFFIC AND ALMOST COULD NOT GET STOPPED. THEN WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE THE CAR JUMPED UP IN SPEED AND WAS HARD TO CONTROL. I DID EVENTUALLY MAKE IT TO MY HOME AND TURNED INTO MY DRIVE AT A VERY HIGH SPEED. I DID GET STOPPED, PLACED CAR IN PARK BUT ENGINE STILL REVVED VERY VERY LOUDLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. A MECHANIC SHOWED ME A HOSE THAT HAD COME LOOSE AND HE PUT IT BACK ON. I ONLY DROVE CAR APPROXIMATELY 5-6 MILE TRIPS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AGAIN ON 3-21-2012 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO VISIT SOMEONE 1.5 HOURS AWAY THE SAME THING OCCURRED AGAIN. I STOPPED AT THE NEAREST GAS STATION AND FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO JUMP THROUGH THE WALL. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO FIND THE HOSE HAD POPPED OFF AGAIN. I DID GET IT BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND ABANDONED TRIP AND DROVE HOME. BEFORE REACHING HOME REPEAT OF THE INCIDENT. MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER CALLED THE FORD DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THE RESPONSE WAS I COULD BRING IT FOR A SERVICE CALL AND FEE BUT THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER ALSO ASKED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THEY HAD A WRECKER SERVICE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO FROM HERE, PLEASE ADVISE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DEAL WITH IT, BY PLACING THE AUTO IN NEUTRAL AND HITTING THE GAS PEDAL A FEW TIMES WHICH CAUSES THE RPM'S TO DECREASE TO NORMAL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE ON ITS OWN, I WOULD APPLY THE BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I WOULD STOP, THE ENGINE WAS REMAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 2,000 RPMS. THIS PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT DID OCCUR APPROXIMATE 10 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK (UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AT A MECHANIC SHOP). FURTHERMORE, THE CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKED. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE WIRE HAD BROKEN/DETACHED WITHIN THE CRUISE CONTROL/THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. RECURRING - INTERMITTENT SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM FROM 2008 TO PRESENT (3/1/12). ENGINE UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP OR DEPRESSION IN THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVEN OVER A RAILROAD TRACK CROSSING. ONCE IT STARTS TO ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL, APPLYING THE BREAK WILL ONLY HAVE A SLIGHT EFFECT FOR AS LONG AS PRESSURE IS PUT ON IT, ONCE I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BREAK, THE ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE DESPITE THE FACT THAT NO PRESSURE IS BEING PLACED ON THE GAS PEDAL; HOWEVER HITTING THE GAS PEDAL (DOWN TO THE FLOOR) SEVERAL TIMES CORRECTS THE PROBLEM. ENGINE ALSO UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATES WHEN THE BREAK IS APPLIED ABRUPTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO CONTROL THE CAR ONCE THIS HAPPENS IS TO APPLY INTENSE FIRM PRESSURE ON THE BREAK AND THEN QUICKLY PLACING THE CAR INTO PARK. THE ENGINE WILL STILL CONTINUE TO RACE IN THE PARKED POSITION; HOWEVER HITTING THE GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES SEEMS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I DID PREVIOUSLY ATTEMPT TO ADJUST THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER THAT HAD NO EFFECT. FLOOR MATS WHERE NO WHERE NEAR EITHER PEDAL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS. ON JAN. 10, 2012 I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A CROSS WALK WITH A FOLLOW TO A STOP LIGHT. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL THAT IS COMMON TO MANY 2006 FORD TAURUS MODELS--EVEN IF THE DRIVER NEVER USES THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE COIL MAY HOLD THE ACCELERATOR DOWN. THIS CAN RESULT IN PROLONGED STOPPING TIMES AND DISTANCES, ACCIDENTS, UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION, AND HEATING UP BRAKES TO THE POINT OF A FIRE. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF MY 2006 FORD TAURUS JUST DRIVING NORMAL AND AFTER AWHILE THE PEDAL WOULD GET STOCK AND KEEP THE SPEED PLUS GO TO ABOUT 60 TO 65 MPH. FROM SPEED OF 45 TO 55 BEING DROVE. IT HAS HAPPENED MORE THEN 20 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH I 'M IN FEAR THAT I'M REALLY ENDANGERING MYSELF OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAYS AND ON THE ROADS PERIOD. SO FAR IT HARD TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BREAKS WHEN THIS HAPPENING BECAUSE THE GAS IS STILL FEEDING TO THE MOTOR. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AFTER I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY COULD FIND THE PROBLEM SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND FOUND THAT WHEN TEST DROVE IT DID THE SAME WITH THEM, THEY TOO AND CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL SAYING THAT'S WHERE THE MALFUNCTION CAME FROM. THEY ALSO BUT IN A NEW SPRING BEHIND THE PEDAL. WITH THAT BEING DONE IT STILL DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE I-10 ABOUT 60MPH AND I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS PICKING UP SPEED. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR WAS GOING FASTER AND FASTER. EACH TIME I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE RESTARTING. NOW IT'S BACK IN THE SHOP. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS, BUT THEY'RE STILL CHECKING OTHER AREAS. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ABOUT TO PULL IN TO MY OFFICE PARKING LOT. I PULLED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR SO THAT COAST INTO THE PARKING LOT WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR INCREASING IN SPEED INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN. I HAD TO BRAKE HARD JUST TO KEEP THE CAR UNDER CONTROL, BUT IT WAS GOING MUCH FASTER THAN IT SHOULD IN A PARKING LOT. AS I TRIED TO PARK, THE RPMS INCREASED TO DANGEROUS LEVELS. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND THE RPMS WERE STILL VERY VERY HIGH. I THEN SHUT THE CAR OFF. I FELT SCARED AND GRATEFUL THAT I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THE SAME MORNING, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER - THINKING I MIGHT HAVE TO TOW IT, BUT IT STARTED AND THE RPMS SEEMED OKAY. I GOT HALFWAY TO THE DEALER AND IT BEGAN TO DO IT AGAIN AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN AN OPEN ROAD. I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE RPMS RETURNED TO NORMAL. I DESCRIBED ALL OF THIS TO THE DEALER. THEY WORKED ON IT AND COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IT ACTED UP FOR THEM ALSO. I PICKED THE CAR UP THAT AFTERNOON WITH NO OTHER SOLUTION OTHER THAN TO TAP THE ACCELERATOR TO GET IT TO STOP. STUPIDLY, I DROVE IT FOR WEEKS THIS WAY BEFORE I FOUND MY OWN SOLUTION. MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO STOPPED WORKING. THE PROBLEM IS MECHANICAL, I HAD MY WIFE PUSH THE GAS WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK SO THAT I COULD SEE WHAT WAS ACTUALLY MOVING UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I FOUND SOME LITTLE CONTROL DEVICE (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD) THAT WAS STICKING. A BALL AND JOINT ON THE DEVICE WOULD GET DISCONNECTED FROM THE ACTION HAPPENING WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS AND CAUSE THE RMPS TO SPIKE. I SIMPLY SECURED THE BALL AND JOINT CONNECTION WITH WIRE FISHING LEADER FROM MY TACKLE BOX. NO PROBLEMS IN ALMOST 1 YEAR. I DIDN'T THINK MORE OF IT UNTIL ALL OF THE NEWS ABOUT TOYOTA. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK HALFWAY DOWN. IT WOULD NOT STICK IF I TAPPED IT, BUT RE-STICK AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE HAD BECOME BOUND AROUND THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING IT TO STICK. FIRST INCIDENT WAS OCTOBER 2007, NOW IN DECEMBER 2009 AGAIN. I WAS CHARGED ROUGHLY 100 TO DETACH THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLING. FORD AGREED (RELUCTANTLY) TO REPAIR THE CABLE SO MY CRUISE WOULD WORK. ROUGHLY 50,000 MILES LATER MY ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT UNSTICK - TAPPING THE PEDAL ONLY MADE ACCELERATION STRONGER. BRAKES BARELY WORKED STOMPED TO THE FLOOR. REPEATED ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKING IN OPEN POSITION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I AM AGAIN STUCK WITH THE BILL - LUCKY I DID NOT CRASH. COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF IT BEGAN TO STICK WHILE ACCELERATING HARD. JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS HAPPENED - BOTH TIMES. ONE SECOND THE GAS PEDAL WORKS FINE, THEN BAM, ITS STUCK. I HAD TO LIGHTLY TAP ON THE PEDAL REPEATEDLY UNTIL IT FINALLY UNSTUCK AND CAME BACK TO HIT ME IN THE FOOT. YIKES. I AM THANKFUL THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AT A LOWER RPM AND NOT ALL THE WAY DOWN. I COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A HORRIBLE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT MY CRUISE CONTROL CABLE HAD BROKEN AND BOUND AROUND THE THROTTLE BODY (THE THING THAT DRIVES THE ACCELERATOR) CAUSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO STICK.
