No heat gauge, oil pressure gauge on vehicle. Blend door issue, one side blows hot, other cold. Radio not working. Weird noise in dash by ignition. Ignition sticks when trying to start car, keeps turning over. Dimmer switch doesn't work. Car can be tracked by unknown people, without permission.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was informed that water was leaking, the water pump had failed, and the timing chain was fractured. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I’m not having any success with my local Ford Dealership or with Ford Customer Service getting my car covered under the Customer Satisfaction Program. I have fuel system issues, I need to replace both cats and 2 bad sensors, halfshaft, fuel system, and braking issues. The dealership said to contact Ford and Ford says it’s the dealership’s problem. If they don’t fix it, I’m done with Ford. If they can’t stand behind their products and their dealerships won’t help the customers, then my loyalty is done. I’ve already had to replace a poorly designed PTU at my expense and now this, buyer beware on Interceptors. Let’s hope I don’t have any other issues. No one seems to be willing to help and I’m beyond frustrated with this experience.

Please investigate this matter. I have reason to believe my car has a defeat, just like most 2013 police interceptor the were recalled due to code p0420. I went to AutoNation Ford Miami they said they have seen defects on my catalytic converter and I would like an investigation completed. I went to AutoNation Ford on Saturday, 12/16/2023 for the GSM IOLM System Service - 80,000 Miles Repair. The dealer believes it is a defeat, I would have to contact Ford. Therefore I am contacting NHTSA to investigate this matter. I get a service repair done on 12/16/2023 - 80,000 Miles Package Service. I brought the car to AutoNation Ford in good shape. I never had the engine light on, and the car drove great.Sunday,12/17/2023 in the morning, I wanted to go to the park, so I get in the car and unbelievably the car engine light turns on. The engine light is on for P0420 Code - Catalyst System Low Efficiency. I scheduled the appointment and drop off the car on Saturday, 12/23/2023. I spoke with the representative and told him my concerns which are the recalls and defeats on the car, And he said I would have to pay $200 for the diagnostic for the catalytic, however I told him “But I just paid to inspect the complete exhaust system and heat shields last Saturday [12/16/2023].” I went to pick up the car on Thursday 12/28/2023 in the morning, the Ford representative said the car is fine, and there is nothing wrong with the car. I say thank you and drive off. So, I am driving the car for about 5 minutes, the engine light comes on, I make a U turn and return the car to AutoNation Ford for service. The dealer say it is a defeat, I would have to contact Ford. Therefore I am contacting NHTSA to investigate this matter. My ford's water pump broken first time in 2020 since and then now i'm on my 5th time to change this water pump and the mechanicians were unable to explain what happened exactly. now the water pump broken and need replacement again.

My water pump started to leak at 114398 miles. The crankshaft oil seal had to be replaced. This repair because of the flawed design cost 3,245.78. I would like ford to refund the cost of the repair.

The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to be restarted and veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the engine and valves needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the cause of the failure was due to the water pump not operating as needed, and that antifreeze had intruded into the engine oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.

On 7/31/2022, and also about a month ago, my 2013 Ford Taurus Limited stalled out while driving and the wrench light came on. The car limped along until I could pull it over, but this could have been serious as I was on the highway doing 65mph just 2 minutes prior to it. It stalled coming up the upramp here in Phoenix. I got it into the parking lot, and gave it gas and nothing at all, the engine just sputtered as the wrench light was on. I turned it off for 2 minutes, and restarted and able to get home 4 minutes away. This is the 2nd time this has now happened, and this is a huge safety concern. Ford Taurus had recalls on the Powertrain Control Module for other years of the Taurus, but I do not want to pay for this fix as this is a Ford safety issue for my model year 2013. I could have caused an accident on the highway if this stalled like this. Who do I contact to get this looked at. I can almost guarantee it is the powertrain control module as I see it online recalled and exact same issues. This car onl has 70k miles on it and in great condition, serviced all the time. Please let me know whom I may contact to resolve this safety issue? Should I call my local Ford dealership, but I think they charge $200 for scan of the car. Thank yo for your time. I believe there is a an unissued recall for my Engine type. The cost to replace a water pump exceeds normal circumstances due to Ford engineers placing the water pump inside of the engine instead of outside making it a $2000 to $5000 job instead of a $200 job. Instead of a water pump simply leaking onto the ground while mounted outside of the Engine the way they have designed it it leaks into the engine and causes the engine to fail due to Engine coolant leaking into the engine through the water pump.

RIVERTOWN FORD HAS CLAIMED TO INSPECT THE REAR TOELINK AND COULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERING I'VE FELT THE REAR END TRAILING FROM TIME TO TIME AND NOTICED UPON INSPECTION DEPLOYED BY MYSELF VISUALLY THAT THE DRIVER SIDE TOELINK HAD BEEN CRACKING. WHEN I NOTIFIED FORD BY PHONE THE DEALERSHIP AT THAT TIME BRUSHED ME OFF WHEN I FINALLY TALKED THEM INTO AT LEAST DOING A MULTI POINT INSPECTION THAT I PAID FOR THEY CLAIMED THEY HADN'T NOTICED ANYTHING. THEY THEN AND SINCE THEN REFUSE TO EVEN LOOK AT THE SUSPENSION WITHOUT A 300$ FEE. (2 THE OTHER INSTANCE IS AFTER RECEIVING DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGER SIDE FENDER AND OBTAINING A "SHORT" IN MY BCM I STARTED TO GET IMMOBERLIZER MESSAGES. P161-2A INCORRECT MESSAGE FROM IMMOBILIZER. I DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE WITH MY LAPTOP AND OBD2 PASSTHRU DEVICE AND AFTER SEEING THE ISSUE WAS FROM PATS WHICH BY THE WAY ISN'T EVEN PRESENT IN THE 2013-19 FORD POLICE INTERCEPTOR SEDANS FORD AGAIN WANTED 400$ TO"DIAGNOSE" THE VEHICLE IN WHICH I HAD COMMUNICATED WITH THE SUPERVISOR TRYING TO CONFIRM MY FEAR OF PAYING THE AMOUNT WILL THEY BE ABLE TO AT LEAST REPAIR OR BE FURTHER ALONG.THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULDN'T EVEN FIX OR PROGRAM THE ISSUE IF THIS IS THE CASE. MY CAR HAD A HARD START AND ROUGH IDLE. 02 SENSORS WERE ORDERED BECAUSE IF THE CODE IT WAS GIVING OFF. DAYS LATER MY CAR THREW A WENCH SIGN, ONLY ONCE AFTER THE CAR TURNED OFF IT DIDN'T SHOW UP AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED JERKING, THE RPMS WERE JUMPING AND THE CAR ACTUALLY SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING. AFTER LOOKING UP THESE CODES THIS WAS AN ISSUE MANY OTHERS WERE HAVING WITH THIS CAR AND OTHER FORD MODELS. IT HAS SINCE TURNED ON, RAN FOR SECONDS, AND TURN OFF SHORTLY AFTER. EACH TIME A CODE IS RAN IT SHOWS SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN IT DID PREVIOUSLY.

THERE WERE NO ACTIVE, PENDING,OR MEMORY CODES IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. IT WAS DRIVEN 50 MILES WITH NO OTHER PROBLEM OCCURRING DURING THE TEST DRIVES. THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED CASES OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

IN ALL BUT ONE OF THESE INSTANCES, I WAS IN A CENTER TRAVEL LANE ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHERE THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC REGULARLY EXCEEDS 65MPH. THE FACT THAT THIS "LIMP" MODE CAN INITIATE AND REDUCE YOUR SPEED AS DRASTICALLY AS IT DOES IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN.

AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE I NOTICES LARGE AMOUNTS OF COOLANT BEING SPEWED FROM THE PRESSURE RELIEF. AFTER REPLACING THE THERMOSTAT ON THE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUED TO LEAK COOLANT, ALTHOUGH IT WAS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY WHERE THE LEAK WAS. AFTER 3 WEEKS AND SOME TESTING, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO FIND A LEAK IN THE WATER PUMP. HAD THE LEAK NOT BEEN FOUND, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS OVERHEATING ISSUES. BASED ON WHAT I SAW WITH HOW QUICKLY THE CAR OVERHEATED WITH AND AMBIENT OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE OF ABOUT 68*F IT'S A WONDER NO FORD TAURUS' HAS STARTED ON FIRE.

CAR WAS BROUGHT IN TO CHANGE THE SERPENTINE BELT AT 76,000 MILES. TECH NOTICED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE WEEP HOLE AND SAID THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS JOB WAS QUOTED AT OVER $2000. HUNDREDS OF OTHER WATER PUMP FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPORTED, SOME AS EARLY AS 45,000 MILES, AND FORD REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE PUMP FAILS AT THE MAIN BEARING AND SPEWS COOLANT INTO THE CRANKCASE WHICH KILLS THE ENGINE AND TOTALS THE CAR. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO WARNING SIGNS WHATSOEVER. IF IT WERE NOT FOR A ROUTINE BELT CHANGE THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CAUGHT AND WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE MOTOR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS IT HAPPENS TO ALL DURATEC EQUIPPED FORD VEHICLES AND FORD REFUSES TO COVER THIS FAILURE UNDER A RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP.

WHILE DRIVING TO A DR APPTOINTMENT I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR STALLED, I LOST ACCELERATION AND A WRENCH LIGHT CAME APPEARED. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR AN EXIT WHERE I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY, AND FIND A GAS STATION, AS I IDLED INTO THE GAS STATION AT ABOUT 2-3 MPH. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AND OPERATION RETURNED TO NORMAL FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN TODAY, AS I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND WAS IN THE TURNING LANE TO ENTER THE FREEWAY IT DID THE SAME THING, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE IN A SPAN OF 15 MILES. AGAIN FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. OUT OF FEAR I TOOK ALL BACK ROADS HOME INCASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WHICH IT DID. I FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE SAYING THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM THAT SEEMS TO FIT THE BILL, EXCEPT THE MOTOR IN MY TAURUS IS NOT THE SAME ONE LISTED ON THE RECALL. REGARDLESS, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS PUT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN IN HARMS WAY 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE ENGINE TEMP WARNING ACTIVATED. I CONTINUED ON TO WORK, WHICH WAS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY, AND PARKED. I NOTICED STEAM COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW COOLANT POURING FROM SOMEPLACE UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP, AND IT WAS INITIALLY DIAGNOSED AS A MISSING FREEZE PLUG. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. NO LEAKS HAD BEEN NOTED DURING PREVIOUS OIL CHANGE AND ALL FLUIDS WERE TOPPED OFF. NO FREEZING TEMPERATURES HAD OCCURRED IN THE DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE IS BEING TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP THAT DEALS WITH MAJOR REPAIRS. WARRANTY COMPANY WAS CONTACTED FOR GUIDANCE AND I WAS INFORMED BY THEM THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS IF THE CRACKS WERE CAUSED BY FREEZING OR OVERHEATING. INSPECTION BY WARRANTY COMPANY PENDING, BUT I HAVE THE FEELING THAT THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO WORM THEIR WAY OUT OF COVERING THIS, EVEN TOUGH IT'S THE TOP OF THE LINE WARRANTY AND IS SUPPOSED TO BE "BUMPER TO BUMPER" AND "WORRY-FREE" COVERAGE. I WAS LUCKY THIS HAPPENED TO WHILE I WAS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO A FAMILIAR PLACE TO PARK (MY WORKPLACE). THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY JUST BEFORE EXITING TO A CITY STREET, LESS THAN A MILE FROM MY WORKPLACE. IT HAS NOW BEEN CLOSE TO TWO WEEKS THE THE CAR IS STILL DOWN AND IN NEED OF A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. COUPLE WEEKS LATER AT THE MOST AND I'M RIGHT BACK TO WHERE I STARTED. CAR WILL NOT START. IF IT DOES START IT WILL STALL IMMEDIATELY ONCE I AM IN MOTION. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IT NOT BEING ON THE ROAD. THIS IS SAFETY HAZARD. I CANNOT COMFORTABLY DRIVE MY CAR TO AND FROM WORK WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT IT STALLING AND GETTING REAR-ENDED. IT WILL NOT BE A GOOD DAY WHEN THIS CAUSES AN ACCIDENT.

ON 8/1/15, MY SON, MY FATHER, AND I WERE HEADING BACK FROM VACATION. MY FATHER WAS DRIVING WHEN HE WENT TO ACCELERATE; WE HEARD A "POP" FROM THE ENGINE. MY SON STATED THAT HE SMELT SMOKE. MY FATHER AND I HADN'T AT THAT TIME. NOT EVEN A MINUTE LATER, THE DASHBOARD FLASHED A "SERVICE SOON" AND TO CHECK MANUAL. BEFORE I COULD THUMB THRU THE MANUAL, MY FATHER STATED THAT WE HAD LOST POWER. HE WAS COASTING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN WE BOTH SMELLED SMOKE. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, WE SAW SMOKE AND FIRE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE HOOD. BEFORE HE HAD THE CAR STOPPED, SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE ROLLING OUT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET EVERYTHING OUT OF THE VEHICLE BUT THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING THIS ISSUE. MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 33K MILES. IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY; HECK I EVEN BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY AREN'T TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AT THIS TIME.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH AND MY CAR JERKED, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE, THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK, AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROUGH IDLE. I COASTED TO THE FREEWAY SHOULDER, TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CONDITION APPEARED TO CORRECT ITSELF. I ATTEMPTED TO RESUME DRIVING ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME SCENARIO MENTIONED ABOVE HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES ON MY WAY TO WORK. TOOK MY CAR TO FORD DEALER: THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE ISSUE, READ DIAGNOSTIC CODE P2111, AND ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE ISSUE BY PERFORMING MAINTENANCE TO THE CONNECTOR. I WAS ADVISED THAT IF THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MIGHT NEED TO BE REPLACED. I DROVE THE CAR FOR 1/2 DAY AND IT REPEATED THE SAME ISSUE AS ABOVE ONLY THIS TIME AT 40 MPH ON THE STREET, BUT THIS TIME I HAD TO STOP AND START THE CAR TWO TIMES IN A ROW TO GET PAST THE ROUGH IDLE. I HAVE A 2011 FORD FUSION WHERE THE IDENTICAL SCENARIO OCCURRED AND THE SAME FORD DEALER COVERED THE REPAIR UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : PE13003. I FILED A CLAIM WITH CORPORATE FORD AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER MY CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THE SCOPE OF THIS ISSUE RESEARCHED TO SEE IF VEHICLES WITH MY YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS ACTION... UPDATED 09/30/15*BF

THIS IS A POLICE INTERCEPTOR VEHICLE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN REVERSE MOTION[APPROX. 5 MPH] AS SOON AS IT IS PUT IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE STALLS. SAME THING WILL HAPPEN WHEN IN FORWARD MOTION AND GOING INTO REVERSE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, ALL OF THE 2013 AND 2014 POLICE INTERCEPTORS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.

UPON ACCELERATING AFTER GREEN LIGHT CAR SURGED AND STARTED TO SHAKE WITH NO POWER CONTROL, HAD TO MANEUVER ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER ALMOST GETTING HIT, AFTER REMOVING IGNITION KEY AND WAITING SEVERAL MOMENTS CAR STARTED AND WAS FINE. I DROVE MY 2013 FORD TAURUS APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES TO MY HOME. AFTER CUTTING THE CAR OFF I NOTICED SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I RESTARTED THE CAR TO BACK OUT FROM UNDER MY CARPORT. I CUT THE CAR OFF AND WITHIN SECONDS THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR SIGNALS. IT WAS VERY QUICK. MY INSURANCE COMPANY SETTLED THE CLAIM AND IS SUBROGATING WITH FORD. FORD HAS SHOWN NO INTEREST ABOUT SEEING THE CAR, FINDING OUT WHAT HAPPENED OR DETERMINING THE POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING AS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, NOT TO MENTIONED IF IT HAD CAUGHT MY HOUSE ON FIRE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD AND CHOSE NOT TO PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD, NOR WILL I RECOMMEND ONE. BY THE WAY THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD BEEN SERVICED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP INCLUDING RECALLS. *TR
