The engine light came on and was scanned for engine code P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2). Upon further research, it appears that a catalytic converter has started failing. I was able to clean the catalytic converter, but they are very expensive to replace. Ford issued an extended warranty for this part, but did not issue a recall, despite this being an issue on multiple vehicles. This warranty is 10 years on the Police Interceptor Sedan (Taurus Platform), and 11 years on the Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer Platform). My car's mileage was at approximately 103,000 miles when the light came on. Both warranties extend to 120,000 miles, and my car was two months older than 10 years when this occurred. I contacted Ford through multiple avenues, even writing a letter to Ford Consumer Affairs, and they all declined to extend their warranties to the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan despite the fact that it is identical to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility when it comes to the engine, transmission, PTU, and all components related to those parts, including the catalytic converter. This is a known issue that should have been a recall in the first place, but Ford should at least have the same warranty issued to both cars as the part and failure of said part are identical. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys contacted Ford and told them to extend this warranty to 11 years to match the warranty for the Police Interceptor Utility. On 2 occasions in October 2023 my 2014 Ford Taurus would not start after cranking. Once the engine had been warm. The 2nd time approximately 2 weeks later, it was cold and had to be towed to Ford dealer. After the dealer said it was the fuel pump driver module needing replacement, it appears this was a known problem (see below from Ford website); however, mine was not recalled. Mine came from the Chicago factory as well. This should be replaced at no charge to me, including the tow fee. Total $602.90 should be reimbursed. "DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 24, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2013-15 Ford and Lincoln vehicles to replace fuel pump control modules Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 86,000 2013-15 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles with 3.5-liter gasoline turbocharged direct injection engines, as well as Ford Police Interceptor sedans to replace fuel pump control modules. In the affected vehicles, the fuel pump control module could fail, which may cause an engine to not start or stall. In some cases, the engine could stall without warning while driving and without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue. The fuel pump control module [XXX] ) failed suddenly and the car failed to drive, I am not driving fast and able to pull over safely. I bought the part part from Ford dealer and replaced the old one, then the problem is fixed. However, as this part fails suddenly and the failing will result in immediate engine stop, it is a safety issue and I shall report it. Vehicle will crank but will not start. Mechanic looked at it and said the module is bad and needs replaced. When replaced, vehicle started fine. There is a recall for this but it is not for my engine type.

This vehicle was sold to me with a not for sale in states requiring California emissions, no governor on the vehicle as well faulty lighting mechanisms. The fuel pump is fluctuating and the car is a danger to myself and those around me. I consulted with a independent licensed mechanic who confirmed these defaults. No warning lights no messages and the dealer did not point out these flaws. I discovered this issue after getting some routine maintenance done on the vehicle

The exact situation which is listed on this Ford recall has affected my Taurus. However, this issue is not connected with my VIN even though my window sticker says it was assembled in Chicago. The car would start and then stop, it would not start back up, or it would do a combination. It wasn't the same every time. The dealer I had work on my car replaced the fuel pump driver module and informed me about the recall but I was never able to get in touch with Ford. I have recently been able to connect with Ford and they said it wasn't associated with my VIN and there was nothing they could do or submit to try for reimbursement since it's been over 90 days from when the work was performed.

Over the weekend I noticed my steering was making a cluck noise from both the front and rear making the car very uncomfortable to ride and it kinda moves more left or a little right when on highway. I also noticed my check engine light came on. I took the car to get looked and the diagnosis read I have bad fuel pump line or evap dont know smell fuse of gas, gas gauge goes up an down. I was to notify NHTSA and to Report this incident and whether to see if theirs any Recall to my Vehicle. Please and thank you.

THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE IS FAILING, WHICH IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO NOT START AND OR KEEPS STALLING WHEN TURNING THE KEY. MY MECHANIC GAVE ME THE RECALL AND DIRECTED ME TO MY NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT WHEN GIVEN THE VIN NUMBER THEY SAID THERE IS 0 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. THEREFOR THIS RECALL IS VIN SPECIFIC AND WILL NOT COVER MY REPAIRS. THE MECHANIC DID AGREE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL BUT NOT SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE. UPSETTING AND CONFUSED WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.

OCCURS EVERY 2000 TO 3000 MILES WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP. AS I GET NEAR THE IDLE SPEED (2-3 MPH) WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE THE ENGINE STARTS TO REV UP AND PULL THE CAR FORWARD. I HAVE TO THROW THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RPM'S SPIKE UP TO 5000 TO 6000 AND THEN IMMEDIATELY SETTLES OUT TO AN IDLE SPEED. I HAD A TUNEUP DONE AT 100K MILES AND PART OF THE SERVICE WAS TO "RESET" THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE SHOP RAN A FULL DIAGNOSTIC. THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I'M AT ABOUT 118K MILES NOW. THIS PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR AFTER ABOUT 75K MILES DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2018.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO VAN DRUNEN FORD DEALER, (3233 183RD ST, HOMEWOOD, IL 60430, (708) 798-1668) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000.

FOR THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS MY VEHICLE HAS A PROBLEM ON START UP (HOT AND COLD) PRESSING GAS AND ACCELERATION ON STREET, HIGHWAY, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, ETC - CAR RUNS VERY ROUGH, SPUTTERS, HESITATES AND STALLS. EVENTUALLY, ON JANUARY 7, 2020 MY VEHICLE DID NOT START AT ALL. IT CRANKED BUT STILL WOULD NOT START. HAD BATTERY CHECKED (WHICH WAS STRONG AND FINE) AND HAD RECENT FULL TUNE-UP DONE WITHIN THE PAST 30 DAYS OF THIS COMPLAINT. HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM AT LEAST THREE(3) TIMES WITH NO RESULT EXCEPT TO PAY MONEY FOR THINGS THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE.

WENT TO START VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE'S FUEL PUMP DID NOT MAKE A SOUND. CHECKED THE FUSES TO THE FUEL PUMP AND THEY CHECKED OUT GOOD. TOOK A POWER PROBE TO THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP WORKED. DISCOVERED IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BEHIND REAR SEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE. REPLACED AND IT FIXED THE ISSUE.

FORD HAS REFUSED TO EXTEND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THIS RECALL. I AM REQUESTING HELP FROM THE NSHP AND THE DOT TO HELP ME PLEASE. SOMETIME IN MARCH 2019 MY CAR DIDNT WANT TO START.IT HAD BEEN PARKED OVER NIGHT AT MY HOUSE. I TRIED TO START IT AND IT JUST KEPT TURNING OVER BUT NO START. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE BATTERY. I WAS CHARGED ABOUT $185 TO BUY ANOTHER BATTERY. THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL MAY 2, 2019 IT WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND HAD TO LEAVE IT THERE OVER NIGHT AND HAVE IT TOWED THE NEXT MORNING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE WANTED TO CHARGE ME $400 TO GET IT REPLACED. MY ARGUEMENT IS I COULD OF SAVED $185 ON A BATTERY THAT DIDNT NEED REPLACING AND 2 MONTHS LATER THEY WANTED ME TO DITCH OUT MORE MONEY. I HAD TO ARGUEMENT WITH THEM FOR SEVERAL HOURS. TILL THE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF THE COST. BUT IT SHOULDNT HAD LEAD TO THAT. I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE. MOTOR WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. I KNEW IT WAS A FUEL ISSUE, SO I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM. I CAME ACROSS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY ON 2013-2015 TAURUS, FLEX, AND INTECEPTORS. MOSTLY RELATED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES AND CIVILIAN SUPER CHARGED ENGINES THAT HAD A RECALL FOR THIS FUEL PUMP RELAY MODULAR. MY TAURUS IS ONLY A SEL, AND I SAW WHERE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR EVERYDAY 2013-2015 FORD VEHICLE. THESE PEOPLE REPLACED THEIR OWN FUEL PUMP RELAY MODULE AND FIXED THEIR PROBLEM. I DECIDED TO TRY IT MYSELF. SURE ENOUGH; I, A SINGLE MOM ON A VERY FIXED INCOME, GETS A RIDE TO MY LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, BUYS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY MODULE FOR $75.00, INSTALL THE PART MYSELF, AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON ALL OF THESE 2013-2015 FORD TAURUS'S SO PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AND THE OTHER FEW I CAME ACROSS ONLINE CAN GET OUR MONEY BACK, AND PREVENT OTHERS FROM HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE PANIC OF HAVING ONLY ONE VEHICLE (THAT SHOULD BE VERY DEPENDABLE) THAT WON'T START. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

NOW THE FULE PUMP MODULE WENT OUT CAUSING OUT OF POCKET OF 500+ $ THE CARE RAN FINE LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG FILLED THE TANK UP AND DRIVE THAT DAY WITH NO PTOBLEM. PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE FOLLOWING MORNING IT WOULD NOT START.

THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES CRANK BUT WILL NOT START. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN ON HOT DAYS AND WHEN PARKED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE TOWARDS THE SUN. THE LOCAL DEALER IS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THE DEALER FROM 6/8/2018-6/20/2018 AND THE CAR ONLY FAILED TO START ONE TIME AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE REASON. SINCE PICKING THE CAR UP IT HAS FAILED TO START THREE TIMES. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I PULLED THE RELAY FROM OUR CAR AND IT IS THE SAME ONE THAT HAS A RECALL EXCEPT OURS IS ON A TAURUS LIMITED NOT THE SHO. I RECOMMEND RECALLING ALL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FUEL PUMP RELAY REGARDLESS OF MODEL/TRIM. I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO OF OUR CAR'S FUEL PUMP RELAY.

FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED CAUSING ENGINE TO STALL AND NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. FORTUNATELY AT THE TIME I WAS AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IDLING, HOWEVER I WAS 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. PARKED CAR, AND PURCHASED REPLACEMENT FUEL MODULE FROM FORD DEALER AND ABLE TO GET CAR RUNNING AGAIN. FORD HAS ISSUED RECALL 16S31, HOWEVER MY '14 TAURUS WITH A NATURALLY ASPIRATED 3.5L IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. PART NUMBER OF THE MODULE IS AA8A-9D412-CA AND SUPPLIER CODE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE ONE OF THE STATED SUPPLIERS THAT IS OK TO USE. SUPPLIER CODE APPEARS TO BE -OC. I DROVE MY CAR JUST FINE ON SUNDAY. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR TO GO TO WORK MONDAY MORNING, THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK, BUT IT WOULDN'T START. SO I CALLED MY MECHANIC WHO CAME OVER WITH A MACHINE. THEY FOUND THAT FUEL WAS NOT GETTING TO THE ENGINE ALTHOUGH I HAD HALF A TANK OF GAS. THERE IS NO KILL SWITCH ON MY MODEL CAR, FOR THEM TO RESET THINKING I HAD HIT A BUMP AND SOMEHOW SET OFF THE THEFT FEATURE THAT KILLS FUEL TO THE ENGINE WHEN MY CAR THINKS IT BEING STOLEN(?). THEY WERE ABLE TO BYPASS SOMETHING TO GET THE CAR TO CRANK WHICH DETERMINED THE FUEL PUMP WAS IN WORKING ORDER. THEY WERE LOOKING FOR THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE WHEN WE FOUND THE NHTSA #16V621000, WHICH SHOWS THE 2013-2015 FORD TAURUS MODELS (WHICH I HAVE), "A COMPONENT WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRIC MODULE (PEM) MAY OVERHEAT CAUSING A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP. I RECALL RECENTLY THAT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ONE DAY I COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING, AN ELECTRICAL WIRING SMELL, BUT SINCE MY CAR STILL RAN DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN YOU TYPE IN MY VIN, THIS RECALL DOES NOT SHOW UP, BUT WHEN YOU ENTER THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL IT DOES SHOW UP. I STRONGLY URGE THE PROPER PEOPLE AT FORD TO LOOK INTO THIS. MY CARE ONLY HAS 46+ THOUSAND MILES ON IT. IN FEBRUARY OF 2017, I CAME OUT TO START MY CAR AS I HAVE DONE EVERY DAY SINCE I GOT IT AS A USED CAR AT 22,000 MILES . THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT JUST TURNED OVER, BUT WOULD NOT START! I HAD IT TOWED TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, AND IT WAS FOUND TO BE A BAD FUEL MODULE UNDER THE BACK SEAT. IT WAS REPLACED AND DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IT DID IT AGAIN IN EARLY JULY 2017. TOOK IT BACK, MODULE WAS BAD AGAIN. REPLACED AGAIN. DROVE IT FOR 1 DAY, TANK FULL OF 93 GAS, IT SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND WOULD NOT START (IT TURNED OVER, BUT WOULD NOT START LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS). I CHECKED FOR A RECALL, AND IN AUGUST 25, 2016 NHTSA DID A RECALL ON CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V621000. I CALLED FORD AS DIRECTED TO DO, AND WAS TOLD MY CAR DID NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. I ARGUED THAT I HAVE THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER, BUT THE PERSON VEHEMENTLY REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK UP THE NUMBER. THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP. I LOVE MY CAR, BUT I AM FRUSTRATED THAT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE RECALL FROM AUGUST 2016. WHAT DO I DO? I CAN UPLOAD ALL OF MY INVOICES FORM MY MECHANIC WHEN HE PROVIDES THE TO ME.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL OF THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR BUT DIFFERENT TRIM... ALSO THE COMPLAINTS ARE VERY SIMILAR.

2014 FORD TAURUS RECALL: MY CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER BEING PARKED, I REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND IT STILL WOULD NOT START. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS OR WARNINGS CAME ON. I WAS CHECKING ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR MY MAKE MODEL & YEAR OF CAR FOR A FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE MY VIN. I GOT IT TOWED TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP AND DIAGNOSED AND THIS WAS SPECIFICALLY THE ISSUE. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE MY VIN# HADN'T BEEN INCLUSIVE OF THIS RECALL. TWO MONTHS AGO MY CAR WON'T START. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I NOTICED THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE ISSUE. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE RECALL WAS FOR A DIFFERENT SIZE ENGINE. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH AND THE CAR QUIT. THE RECALL STATES "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE COULD FAIL, WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ENGINE TO NOT START OR STALL. IN SOME CASES, THE ENGINE COULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH."
