2018 GENESIS G80 Unknown Or Other Problems

Component: Engine / Turbocharger / Oil Line / Fire Risk Vehicle Problem: For the past five months, my oil light has been coming on and off sporadically (not flickering), even though mechanics and oil shops said there was no issue. A few days ago, the car started smoking out of nowhere, though it wasn’t overheating and there were no visible signs of leakage. I took it to the shop, and they diagnosed a turbocharger oil supply pipe leak that is severe and poses a fire risk. I am in a new city with no support system and have a baby. Multiple car dealerships have refused to fix my vehicle, even though I have been informed this part is under recall. I have tried calling and visiting, and no one will help. This is a safety concern, especially since the vehicle is at risk of catching fire while driving.

Rear left door lock actuator has failed. Door will not open from inside or outside. There is no emergency release of any kind. This is a major safety concern as in the event of an accident occupants could be stuck inside the vehicle. This is a known issue with this model as well as several Hyundai/Kia models

My 2018 Genesis G80 has an issue in which the A/C quits working and blows warm air on the driver's side. I live in Florida where the heat is stifling and having warm air blowing during the high temperatures is dangerous. I have contacted Genesis who sent me a $220 Gift Card to have the dealer diagnose the problem. The dealer stated that this is a very common problem that Genesis will not acknowledge. My car only has 28,385 miles on it and is stored in a garage most of the time. I was told it needs a new evaporator coil which will cost $3,000. I am [XXX] and my husband is dealing with [XXX] I joined the Genesis G80 online forum and found that I am one of MANY people suffering with this problem. As the temperatures have already started to rise in Florida, I was struggling today as I drove to visit my husband in the hospital. I cannot go on much longer like this. Whenever I drive long distance like 1 or more hours, AC has problem. It worksd fine in short local distance. I see a lot of drivers have the same issue if you click the link below. During the hottest season, it can become very dangerous. I live in San Angelo, TX, and there is no Genesis dealership in here. Hyundae dealership couldn't figure it out. The nearest Genesis dealership takes 3 hours from my house. I paid for extended warranty which will expire within 4 months, and its useless unless it can get fixed. ongoing problem with vehicle AC been to dealer 10 times for repair but problem persist. AC stops blowing cold air or has minimal blowing pressure after several hours of driving. sometimes a noise behind the glove compartment like something knocking. seems like system freezes as it will operate normally/properly after vehicle has been stopped for about30-45 minutes 1st issue occurred 3/24/21at 24143 miles and continues to occur when vehicle is driven long distance with AC running

The vehicle started smoking Dec 2023. Placed it in the shop and got a diagnostic finding out about the turbocharge oil pipe leak. Two days after I got the car out the shop a recall was issued for the turbo oil pipe Genesis recall 019G. Called Genesis corporate office and the case worker says it’s nothing they can do due to me being the 2nd owner and my vehicle is a fire hazard smoking , shutting off while coming to a stop or reversing. I have a car note and have not been able to drive my vehicle in 3months. This is an big inconvenience and genesis isn’t trying to accommodate me for my trouble. t

The driver side, back passenger door will not open. The automatic locks and handles do not release the door. This is not related to any accident. The issue developed suddenly and poses a huge issue for exit from the car during an emergency. The issue is reported on the internet by multiple Genesis and Hyundai owners and appears to be a known issue with no action taken to resolve by Genesis/Hyundai. There were no warnings or lights indicating a problem. The Genesis call number says they are not aware of the issue. The car has low mileage (<40,000).

Glass in front of the moon roof exploded outward. Corners where collapsed inward. Traveling aprox. 50 mph. Clear sunny day. No traffic in front or behind. My first thought was flat tire. Glass was standing straight up with a 2 in gap in the center. The next one may completely leave the vehicle and cause an accident. Not looking for reimbursement. Paid by insurance. I think there was some sort of pressure on the glass to cause the damage making it a product defect.

Whenever I make a prolonged right hand turn the steering wheel sticks in that position until it is MANUALLY returned to center. For example, taking an on-ramp than is a large ‘U’, the vehicle steering wheel ‘sticks’ in the turned position to the right. I can take my hand off the wheel and it stays there until it is forcibly turned back to center. This has been going on since I owned the vehicle, but it has never been unrecoverable. It’s happened every time I take the same on-ramp…every time.

THE CONTINENTAL TREADWEAR 400 TIRES THAT COME WITH THIS CAR ARE DANGEROUS. I HAD ONE SIDEWALL BLOWOUT AT ABOUT 35 MPH AFTER LESS THAN 6000 MILES OF DRIVING, AND HAD THE REPLACEMENT TIRE, NEW, DEVELOP BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALL AGAIN AFTER LESS THAN 6000 MILES DRIVING, AND REPLACE THIS TIRE WITH ANOTHER BRAND. I CONTACTED CONTINENTAL TIRE CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM, BUT HAVE TO DATE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. MANY TIRE REVIEWS ALSO POINT OUT THIS PROBLEM.

DURING COLD DAYS, WHEN I HAVE THE HEAT RUNNING, IT FLOWS FINE WHEN SET TO UPPER BODY AND WINDOWS. WHEN THE HEAT IS SET TO FEET EXCLUSIVELY, IT FLOWS TO THE FRONT WINDOW VENTS MORE THAN TO THE FEET. SETTING THE FAN TO MAXIMUM, THE HEAT BLOWS OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW VENTS MORE THAN TO THE FEET. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GENESIS OF CHANTILLY VIRGINIA. THEY COMPARED THE AIR FLOW WITH A SIMILAR VEHICLE AND THEY REALIZED IT IS WAS BLOWING THE SAME WAY. THEY AGREED WITH ME THAT IT IS A BAD DESIGN AND NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WHEN DRIVING IN COLD WEATHER, DRIVER CANNOT SET THE HEAT EXCLUSIVELY TO FEET AT MAXIMUM SPEED, SINCE THE HEAT FLOWS TO THE WINDOW VENTS INSTEAD TO THE FEET. THIS CAUSES SEVERE HEADACHE AND DRYNESS TO THE FACE. THE FEET REMAIN EXTREMELY COLD WHILE DRIVING.

THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THESE TIRES. I DEVELOPED A BUBBLE IN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND DECIDED I DIDN'T WANT TO GO THROUGH MORE BUBBLES AND FLAT TIRES AS I AM 80 YEARS OLD. I BIT THE BULLET AND PURCHASED $1000.00 WORTH OF MICHELIN TIRES BEFORE THE CAR HAD 2000 MILES ON IT. I ALSO HAD TROUBLE KEEPING THE CAR IN A STRAIGHT LINE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. THE ROAD NOISE FROM THIS TIRE IS ALSO UNEXCEPTIBLE FOR A LUXURY CAR. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS TIRE RACK WEBSITE AND THIS TIRE SHOULD REALLY BE RECALLED.

THE 2018 GENESIS G80 SPORT COMES WITH THE CONTINENTAL PRO CONTACT TX TIRES. THESE TIRES HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE SIDEWALLS. I HAD MY NEW CAR FOR LESS THAN 1000 MILES AND I ALREADY HAD TO CHANGE TWO OF THE TIRES.
