In 2023 & 2025, my vehicle had been brought into the Genesis dealership to complete NHTSA 24V868000 safety recall by receiving a new software (Service Campaigns 907G & 025G). However, despite that, on [XXX], the vehicle's ICCU failed while I was traveling at highway speeds. The ICCU is the primary component that the safety recall was supposed to address, yet it failed anyways. The car suddenly and dangerously reduced propulsion on the freeway, and I had to slowly maneuver the car onto the shoulder where the car then completely lost all propulsion entirely. My family and I were in the car, and our safety was at extreme risk since the car lost propulsion without warning on the freeway and other vehicles had to swerve around us. There was the very real possibility that had I not reacted quickly, that we would have been fully immobilized on the freeway, blocking traffic and creating a real safety hazard for other vehicles. There were no warning lights or any indications that the part was going to fail -- it failed immediately, and only after that did multiple warning messages appeared due to systems downstream of the ICCU failing as a result of the ICCU's failure. The dealership (Genesis of Dublin) confirmed that the failure was specific to the ICCU and the vehicle had its ICCU replaced under the 10 year powertrain warranty. I have documentation proving that the problem was caused by the ICCU's failure. In addition, the ICCU's replacement with an identical ICCU simply means this extremely dangerous hazard can occur again without warning in 1 to 2 years' time, since the replaced ICCU is the same unit that failed before - no updates to the ICCU have been announced by Genesis or its dealerships. I reiterate: the problem persists despite 24V868000 being preventative recalls completed. Recall 907G Completed 10/26/23 Recall 025G Completed 01/13/25 The above mitigations are not enough to fix the problem and avoid a dangerous situation. Water pump failure in vehicle less than two years of age. Dealer stated car was not safe to drive. Instrument cluster had a warning light, the app had details of the failures, and the display in the vehicle had a pop up stating the car needed to be serviced TODAY!

I leased a 2023 Genesis GV60, which was misrepresented as new but had multiple safety recalls, including ICCU battery failure, AWD/powertrain malfunction, and seatbelt defects. From the start, the seatbelts didn’t secure properly, and the car failed NY state inspection, causing me to lose a job that required a safe vehicle. Despite six visits to different service centers in 3 months, no actual repairs were completed. Mechanics admitted they didn’t understand the battery defect. The recalls later disappeared from the system without resolution. This is highly unsafe and deceptive. Genesis refused accountability, claiming they don’t control dealership practices—yet they allowed a dealer to fraudulently lease a car with open recalls. They also filed a false insurance claim under my name, inflating my premium and causing me over $33,000 in damages. I visited five other luxury dealers and confirmed that other brands do not allow demo or recall vehicles to be sold this way. Genesis’ refusal to fix or buy back the car and their attempt to cover up recall issues reveals a systemic failure in recall enforcement and corporate responsibility. I urge NHTSA to investigate.

The vehicle's instrument panel, behind steering wheel displaying things like speed and warning signs, periodically goes blank at start up for between 30 seconds and 15 minutes. There are lots of reports of this problem on sites like Redit and Genesis Forum, however, Genesis has not issued a recall for even a service bulletin. This apparently common problem is a safety hazard as the driver does not have access to critical safety information, including the vehicle's speed, for a period of time. Because this problem is periodic, it is often difficult to verify at the dealership as it does not produce fault codes. This leaves consumers in a bind as the problem persists since the dealership and manufacturer will not always address.

On 3/5/2025 I was driving my car and accelerating to 45 miles per hour when the Stop vehicle and check power supply warning on my car showed on the dash followed by a loud and starting audible tone. I pulled over to check the car and it still worked well. I then went home and tried to charge the vehicle off of our level 2 charger and the vehicle would not start to charge. I brought the car to the dealer the next day after charging the 12 volt battery overnight. I charged the 12 volt battery because the car was no longer charging it as the charging system was not working. The dealer then diagnosed that the ICCU and main fuse were broken and needed replacement. These were the problem parts that previous NHTSA recalls were issued and completed on this vehicle to address this failure. My car still failed with around 6,750 miles driven. I want to let the NHTSA know that the failures of this critical part are still happening despite the manufacturer's recalls being completed in a timely manner.

This car is fully electric. Upon start up in cold weather and for up to about 5 miles thereafter, the instrument panel remains black. This eliminates any displayed driving information including warnings, speedometer, driving mode and other items such as brake regeneration, etc. The distance traveled before the panel eventually energizes appears to be increasing. All other vehicle functions continue to operate. A saving grace for my car is that it displays the speed in the heads-up-display but all other information is unavailable. The dealer has determined that the instrument panel will be replaced under warranty. They state that the book price for the panel is in excess of $9,000! The car has approximately 23K mi at this time (1/13/2025)

Completed NHTSA recall 24V-868 at my dealer December 13th 2024. ICCU failed on 1/1/2025 and I am awaiting on the 3rd ICCU for my vehicle in less than 2 years. Similar issue happened December 2023, completed the ICCU recall and had the ICCU fail in a similar fashion.

Dec 17, 2024

Since the weather got colder, the driver's instrument cluster does not display immediately when the vehicle is powered on. When cold, the cluster takes from a few seconds to several minutes to come on. While it is off, there is no access to any warning lights or messages.

Dec 17, 2024

When starting the car on cold mornings--parked outside, under a carport--the instrument cluster is blank. It stays blank for two to seven or so minutes, whether or not the car is being driven. This only happens on the cold days, and didn't happen last winter. When the display comes on, it doesn't register the miles that were driven while it was blank. Using the pre-warm climate function before staring the vehicle--so, warming up the car--will cause the instrument cluster to work even on cold days, but that shouldn't need a workaround.

Dec 15, 2024

Driver’s instrument cluster screen blank at startup every day for several minutes. Without it, the driver can’t see their speed, critical safety warnings, or blind spot cameras. This started in summer 2024 and has gotten worse over time.

Dec 6, 2024

The driver instrument cluster is not turning on the startup . Takes several minutes to be turned on.

Dec 3, 2024 Crash

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV60. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, it was noticed that the battery percentage was excessively draining. The charger port warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to decrease in speed; the vehicle suddenly became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was veered onto the sidewalk and the front driver's side of the vehicle crashed into a street lighting junction box. There was cosmetic damage however, the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained several injuries including emotional distress, back pain, and neck pain; the contact was taken to a local hospital in an ambulance to seek medical attention. No other injured individuals were reported. The doctor diagnosed the contact with a mild concussion and prescribed medicine for nausea and headaches. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a local Towing Service Center for a diagnosis. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,300.

Mileage: 24,300

Sometimes after starting the car the instrument panels remain black and will not display properly for several minutes or unless the car is shutdown for a long period of time and restarted. Additionally, Genesis uses a fingerprint scan to verify who is driving the vehicle. After verifying my fingerprint the vehicle now asks me for a password even though I already verified my biometrics.

Nov 13, 2024

At random occurrences during car startup, the instrument cluster remains blank and can take up to several minutes to “wake up”. Since no cluster-related information such as speedometer or safety and diagnostic lights is available at this time, the car remains un-drivable until it eventually resolves. Should it occur while the car is being driven, it can pose a significant safety risk as none of the vehicle’s warning lights on the cluster are available. This problem first began to occur after the latest OTA software updated, though it’s not absolutely clear if this is the cause of the issue.

While driving down my driveway, heard a pop around the backseat on the passenger side. Right after received the following alert "Check Vehicle electric system", after driving the car for another 2-3 minutes received the following alert "Stop Vehicle and Check power supply" along with the car beeping aggressively when this came up. Returned to my house as felt unsafe to continue driving my car not knowing if the car will randomly die on me. Looking into this looks like it is associated with the ICCM which has been the subject of two recalls for which my car has had prior to this occuring.

Jul 8, 2024

I was reversing into my garage when I suddenly heard a loud audible pop from the back seat. I immediately knew that the High Voltage Fuse and the ICCU completely failed. A "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning showed on the dash and a "Stop vehicle and check power supply" warning appeared shortly thereafter. I noticed also that the car refused to charge with my Level 2 EVSE and the car kept saying a "Charging Unsuccessful" message. I checked my 12v battery with a multi-meter and it still showed 12.4 volts and slowly depleting. When the ICCU was functioning, it would show 14v (since it was charging the 12v battery). Furthermore, I checked with my OBD scanner any codes it would spit out and it was the dreaded P1A9096 code that a recent TSB recall check was for. I was completely up-to-date with the recall fixes and even had my ICCU software updated just 6 weeks ago and yet the ICCU still failed. Thankfully, this incident did not occur on the highway otherwise losing power on the highway can lead to an accident that can cause major injuries and/or fatalities.

Jun 5, 2024

Completed safety recall 021G related to ICCU software update to prevent electrical loss two weeks ago. After completion, vehicle suddenly stopped charging in L2 outlets. Brought back in to service and diagnosed with blown fuse, which the recall was supposed to prevent.

May 25, 2024

The vehicle is advertised as supporting 48amp level 2 charging. After approximately one year of ownership, high amperage charging lead to overheating at the charging port, causing charging to produce errors and fail. Hyundai/Genesis released a software patch to detect overheating and throttle the amperage. This does not resolve the physical hardware that is overheating. This solution leaves the car in an unsafe operating posture where overheating could continue, leading to potentially unsafe circumstances when the vehicle is located in a garage attached to a home.

Jan 3, 2024

Stopped car in a parking spot for a few minutes. Reversed and proceeded to put the car into drive. Immediately upon switching to Drive, the vehicle produced a loud pop from the rear and announced the check electrical system error. Recall Service 907G was performed on the vehicle in question 2 months prior and was reported as closed when checking by the VIN. However the ICCU and High Voltage Fuse is needing to be replaced with no ETA on the replacement part(s) as of this reports submission. Dealership advised NOT to drive the vehicle and arranged a tow. Car has been at the dealership for over a week now.

This car will simply stop charging after 7 minutes, 10 minutes or one hour. You have to babysit it so it charges.

Aug 20, 2023

The car will not charge on a Level 2 charger without disconnecting after 20-60 minutes due to thermal/high heat issues. This is a problem with the car, not the charger, as I have charged multiple other types of electric vehicles off of this Level 2 charger without difficulty.

Aug 15, 2023

There is a known problem with the level 2 charging according to my local dealer. However, Genesis has not issued a fix. When charging the car over heats and reduces speed of the charge to a very low rate. Effectively making the car 3 to 4x slower than it is supposed to charge according the manual.

Jul 30, 2023

A defect is causing the level 2 chargers to overheat before my vehicles is charged. The chargers may overheat within 30 to 60 minutes of being in use. I must unplug and replug the home chargers in order to restart the charging process. The GV60 should be charged by 240-volt level 2 chargers at 48 amps in about seven hours, and it is not working as it stops and starts. I have reduced the charge rate from 11.2kw to 10.2kw and it still overheats and stops/starts. I reduced it all the way down to 6.8kw - the minimum setting on the vehicle. Genesis, Hyundai and Kia offered a software repair that does nothing to solve the charger problems. Dealerships perform the software modifications which allegedly lowers the level 2 charging speeds to avoid overheating down to 5.3kw which is less than the promised rate and this creates charging times of more than 10 hours. The Genesis/Hyundai/Kia Level 2 charger problems leaves all of us with different vehicles than advertised. Technical service bulletin (TSB) 23-EV-003h was issued to dealers due to level 2 charger problems when an electric vehicle, “intermittently stops charging before charging completes.” But the TSB never mentions how the software update will double the charging time. Genesis and Hyundai and Kia customers must allegedly manually turn down the charging current to prevent charge failures, but some vehicles allegedly suffer failures while charging at a low 28 amps. This means it will take much longer to fully charge the electric vehicles. I blame the problem on a defect in the charging port design which causes overheating. I would like Genesis/Hyundai/Kia to find a solution that restores the 11.2kw charging speed that I used to have on my GV60.

Jul 7, 2023

When charging nightly on home AC charge (60amp breaker) the car will stop charging after one to ten minutes for no reason. It has been increasing to the point of every time, not sometimes. I have to remotely (Genesis app) restart the charge, and sometimes physically remove and re-insert the plug to keep charging. Have come out in the morning to no overnight charge after plugging in and going to sleep. This will be even more dangerous when the northeast winter arrives and temperatures are below zero. Running out of power in those conditions could prove extremely dangerous or worse. Filed complaint with Genesis, and involved on Genesis forums, no reply from Genesis at this point. No reply as to the drive shaft recall either. Have filed complaints about both, very upset with less than 5k miles on a new car. This charging issue has occurred with increasing frequency from the first two weeks of ownership to the present, and is becoming extremely problematic.

Charging port heats up to the point were charging is unsuccessful

Jul 7, 2023

I cannot charge the vehicle

During at home level 2 charging, the charging port overheats

Jun 20, 2023

My Car Has a charging port that overheats. It consistently overheats whenever I charge it at the full speed that the vehicle is rated for, 11.5kw (48amp 240V) and their solution, was to slow my charge rate down, once the port overheats, NOT FIX THE ISSUE, it still overheats.

Apr 17, 2023

We drove ten miles to a local restaurant and after our meal the vehicle reported a 12-volt battery issue. After about a mile the car started to pull the car over as the battery was falling. As we were looking for a safe location to pull over, the car would no longer accelerate and would maintain 20 mph on a road that was 50 mph speed limit causing a very unsafe condition. We eventually found a safe location to pull over the car and had the car towed.
