2007 GMC ACADIA, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRACK KEEPS POPPING UP. IT LOSES THE POWER STEERING OFF AND ON IF YOU DRIVE IT IN THE RAIN AT ANY SPEED. WINDOWS CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED BY DRIVERS MASTER BUTTONS. VEHICLE HAS 173000 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED USED FROM BUCKEYE NISSAN. NOTICED ISSUES RIGHT AWAY BUT THEIR MECHANIC SAID THERE IS NOTHING COMING UP WHEN THEY HOOK UP THE DIAGNOSTICS. NO WARRANTY WHEN PURCHASED USED, THIS IS MY FIRST VEHICLE PURCHASE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR THEN GOT THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRACK READING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MPH. STILL PAYING PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE, I COULD NOT AFFORD TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC SO I PURCHASED A CHEAP CAR FROM A FRIEND AND THE ACADIA SAT IN MY DRIVE WAY FOR 2 YEARS. AFTER I PAID IT OFF I STARTED TO LOOK INTO REPAIRING IT. I PUT A NEW BATTERY IN IT AFTER IT SAT FOR SO LONG AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND DROVE LIKE THERE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER. STILL GET ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF AND SERVICE STABILITRACK READING BUT HAS NOT HAD IT SLOW DOWN TO 5 MPH AGAIN. NOW IF I DRIVE IN THE RAIN THE POWER STEERING CUTS IN AND OUT AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL REVIEWS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT SAY THE SAME AS MINE. THE WORST PART IS THAT GM IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES BUT WILL NOT ASSIST IN REPAIR IF THE VEHICLE HAS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES ON IT.

OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86K MILES AND THE RACK AND PINION IS LEAKING HEAVILY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BUT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. SOMETIMES, THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IMPOSES SERIOUS RISK WHILE DRIVING AND THE PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. THERE IS NO REPEATABLE SCENARIO TO DEMONSTRATE THE FAILURE. IT IS RANDOM. THE FRONT ENGINE COVER ALSO LEAKS OIL HEAVILY. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS COULD RESULT IN RAPID ENGINE OIL LOSS AND ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER YESTERDAY FOR INSPECTION. UNFORTUNATELY NO PICTURES WERE TAKEN, BUT THEIR TWO TECHNICIANS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND AGREED ON THE KNOWN ISSUES. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO AGREED ON THE KNOWN ISSUES. I INQUIRED ABOUT GM HELPING WITH THESE KNOWN ISSUES, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THEIR DISTRICT AFTERSALES MANAGER WAS NOT KIND OR HELPFUL AND WOULD REVERT TO GENERAL MOTOR'S ONLINE GOODWILL CALCULATOR. HE ACCESSED THE ONLINE SYSTEM WHICH DETERMINED MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND/OR COVERAGE AND THAT THERE WAS NO GOODWILL AVAILABLE TO USE FOR MY VEHICLE. WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR GOODWILL, BUT RATHER FOR GM TO REPAIR THESE HIGH RISK PRODUCT FAILURES. SINCE THESE COMPONENTS WEAR WITH USE, NOT TIME, WE FEEL THAT WITH OUR LOW USAGE, THESE COMPONENTS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED.

WE GOT THIS 2007 GMC ACADIA AT 100,230 MILES ON AUGUST 2014. NOW IT HAS AROUND 133,800 MILES. AT 115,000 MILES IT STATED TO HAVE ISSUES WHERE IT SAID STABILITY TRACK. THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF BY ITSELF AND NOT SURE IF THE STABILITY AND THIS ARE THE SAME THING. SOME ELECTRIC PARTS HAVE ALREADY FAILED. THE CHARGING OUTLET AND ELECTRIC WINDOWS DON'T WORK RIGHT. THE PASSENGER SIDE CAN NOT BE PUT DOWN BY DRIVER SIDE. THE REAR RIGHT SIDE CAN ONLY BE PUT DOWN OF UP BY THE DRIVER. THE LEFT REAR DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE DRIVER PUTS IT DOWN OR UP. THE POWER IN THE LIFT GATE IN THE BACK HAS GONE OUT. IT ONLY OPENS OR CLOSES MANUALLY. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL WITH THE LIFT GATE AND WE GOT IT FIXED. AFTER IT WAS FIXED THEN A WHILE LATER IT WOULD CLOSE ON US AND IT ALMOST HIT US BUT WE REACTED FAST. IT ONLY CLOSED ON US ABOUT THREE TIMES THEN IT STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS RECALL 15240.THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO TURN WHEN MAKING A TURN OR U TURN. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AS I AM DRIVING. ONE TIME IS ALMOST MADE ME CRASH INTO A CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO MECHANICS AND IT HAS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CODES. FOR JUST THE TRANSMISSION CODES IT WILL COST ME UP TO $4,000. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX RECORDS IT HAS HAD INTERNAL TRANSMISSION REPAIRS AT 53,543 MILES. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR POST A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 3YEARS AND WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. GM SHOULD PAY FOR THIS FAULTY PARTS.

THE SUNROOF LEAKS AND CAUSES ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING GEARS, RACK, AND BUSHINGS ARE DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT DURING LOW SPEEDS. TRIED HAVING IT REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL, HOWEVER, 9 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND NOBODY WANTS TO FIX IT OR ALLOWS FOR THE DEALER TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY FEATURE THAT SHOULD NEVER BE ACCEPTABLE! ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION ALREADY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IS GOING OUT AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURE MADE A FAULTY VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE PARTS AND THE LABOR NOT TO MENTION THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING TO FIGHT WITH THE DEALER AND GM TO GET THE PROBLEM CORRECTED.

I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM GM AND I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REQUIRED MY VIN NUMBER TO CHECK AND MAKE SURE MY CAR WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND AFTER THEY HAD IT FOR 4 HOURS, I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THEY WON'T COVER IT BECAUSE I EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE BY 10,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP THEN ATTEMPTED TO MAKE ME PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP. I HAVE OWNED MY CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND THEY ARE JUST NOW NOTIFYING ME ABOUT THE RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY WILLING TO GIVE ME A 5% DISCOUNT OFF OF $1084. I HAVE EXPRESSED MY FEELING ON THIS AND EXPLAINED THAT I JUST RECEIVED THE LETTER AND THAT THE CAR IS 8 YEARS OLD, WHY DID IT TAKE THEM SO LONG TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMERS. THEY REALLY EXPECT A 8 YEAR OLD CAR TO HAVE LESS THEN THE 150,000 MILE LIMIT THEY SET. I ALSO EXPRESSED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. *TR

TWICE, IN A MATTER OF 24 HOURS, AS WE WERE PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED ABRUPTLY. FORTUNATELY WE WERE MOVING SLOWLY IN OUR DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME. FOLLOWING EACH INCIDENT THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AND THERE WAS A LOUD SCREECHING SOUND WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. JUST AS QUICKLY AS BOTH PROBLEMS OCCURRED, THEY DISAPPEARED. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN DEALING WITH WIRING ISSUES. SOMETIMES THE SPEAKERS WORK SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. SOMETIMES THE WARNING SYSTEMS (I.E BACK-UP ALARM, KEYS IN IGNITION, LOW FUEL LEVEL, DOOR AJAR, ETC.) SOUNDS AND OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. *TR
IN 2010 I REPORTED A NOISE IN THE STEERING. GMC DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING ROD NEEDED REPLACED. THEY WORKED ON THE VEHICLE AND WHEN DRIVING AWAY THE STEERING STILL HAD THE SAME NOISE. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS NOT THE STEERING ROD CAUSING THE ISSUE. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE AGAIN AND THEY DETERMINE THAT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING FLUID. THEY ADDED FLUID AND IT TEMPORARILY CAUSED THE NOISE TO GO AWAY. THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH TWO SEPARATE GMC DEALERSHIPS OVER THE YEARS. FINALLY NOW THAT MY ACADIA HAS 55,000 MILES THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE NOISE IS THE STEERING COLUMN AND IS WANTING TO CHARGE ME $1450 TO FIX IT. THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE PROBLEM CAME UP AND I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BY GMC MANUFACTURER SINCE THIS WAS AN ISSUE EARLY ON WITH THIS VEHICLE. GMC IS ALSO HAVING ISSUE WITH STEERING COLUMN IN 2009 -2012 GMC AUTOMOBILES SO THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE. *TR
WHILE ROUNDING A HIGHWAY OFF RAMP, POWER STEERING GOT EXTREMELY STIFF. THERE WERE NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE SYSTEM PRIOR. I GOT HOME, CHECKED THE FLUID, AND IT WAS FULL. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO MY LOCAL GMC DEALER TO DISCUSS PROBLEM AND REPAIRS. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED "WE KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEMS ON THESE VEHICLES, AND THEY TYPICALLY FAIL IN THE 70 TO 90 THOUSAND MILE RANGE." THEN THEY WANTED $2000 FOR REPAIRS. REPAIRS WHICH ARE GETTING DONE CHEAPER AT MY LOCAL GARAGE. MY PROBLEM WITH THIS, IS THAT GM KNOWS THERE IS A SAFETY DEFECT WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, OTHER THAN MAKE PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEY HAVE TO SPEND HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO FIX. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THIS IS THE SAME ACTION THE COMPANY TOOK IN THE IGNITION ISSUE THEY ARE CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH. YES, I AM ANGRY AT GM FOR NOT BACKING THEIR PRODUCT, BUT THAT IS NOT WHY I AM WRITING TO YOU. I AM WRITING TO YOU, BECAUSE I AM A FIRST RESPONDER, AND SEE FIRST HAND WHAT CAN HAPPENS WITH SAFETY ISSUES TO VEHICLES. I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE, GOING DOWN HILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. MID-WAY DOWN A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE COMPUTER SAYING "ENGINE FAILURE, POWER OFF" AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN WITH OUT WARNING. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED ON THE GAS THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WENT OUT AS WELL AND I HAD TO STAND IN THE SEAT TO USE ALL MY POWER TO TURN THE WHEEL. PREVIOUS TO THIS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NOT BEEN ON, NO ADVANCE WARNING OF THIS. I HAD BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. LUCKILY THERE WAS A BP GAS STATION WITH GARAGE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION WHERE THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRED MY CAR AND RESET THE SENSORS. NINE MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING WITH BOTH OF MY CHILDREN AGAIN, IN NORTH EAST WASHINGTON DC WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE ONE TIME. I TURNED AROUND TO GO HOME AND ON THE DRIVE HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON A LESS OF AN INCLINE OF A HILL. THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE HILL GOING DOWN. SAME AS BEFORE, NO GAS AND NO STEERING ABILITY. I WAS TOO SCARED TO LEAVE THE CAR ON THE SIDE AS CARS COMING OVER THE HILL WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO STOP BEFORE HITTING US. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO GLIDE DOWN THE HILL TO THE SHELL STATION. THE CAR CUT OUT COMPLETELY AND LOST ALL MOMENTUM SO I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION AND WAIT 3 HOURS FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. IT WENT BACK TO THE BP STATION FROM FEBRUARY AND HAD A NEW BATTERY AND SEVERAL OTHER ITEMS REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2007 AND HAVE HAD COUNTLESS BREAKDOWNS AND REPLACEMENTS- TWO TRANSMISSIONS WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS AND REPAIRS. THE RACK AND PINION HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE HAS BURNED UP NUMEROUS POWERSTEERING PUMPS. THE STEERING, WHILE IN A CURVE, WILL LOCK UP AND THEN RELEASE THROWING THE VEHICLE IN THE DIRECTION THE WHEEL IS TURNED. IT HAS THROWN THE VEHICLE INTO THE OTHER LANE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC AS WELL AS THROWING THE VEHICLE OF THE ROAD INTO A FENCE. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS PICKED THE VEHICLE UP REPLACED THE STEERING PUMPS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND THE SHIFTING COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED, THEN THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND WAS REPLACED. THE STEERING ISSUE IS ARE MAIN CONCERN. IT WAS TAKEN IN ON 9/28/10 AND RECEIVED NEW TRANSMISSION AND POWERSTEERING PUMP. WE RECEIVED THE VEHICLE ON 10/25/2010. ON, 10/28/10 THE VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED UP AGAIN THROWING MY WIFE OFF THE ROAD INTO A FENCE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT GM HAS PUT THREE BAD POWER STEERING PUMPS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS BINDING THE STEERING CAUSING THE PUMPS TO BURN UP. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS MADE THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE DANGER OF IT LOCKING UP AND THROWING THE VEHICLE INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE ALL SERVICE RECORDS REPORTING THIS ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CONTACT FELT A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND MADE TURNING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DEALERS. THE FIRST DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURES. THE SECOND DEALER HEARD THE NOISE AND FELT THE VIBRATION, BUT COULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURES. WEEKS AFTER THE INCIDENT, SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FROM WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED. THE FAILURE WAS DEEMED TO BE A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE AND THEY CURRENTLY HAVE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

2007 GMC ACADIA WITH SEVERAL SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. SHE STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS: A LARGE PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE VEHICLE, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING, BATTERY DIED AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. *KB THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THE FRONT SHAFT SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE LEAK FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ALSO STATED THERE WAS A DRAIN ON THE SYSTEM THAT CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY UPGRADED THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH HAD TO BE DONE TWICE. THE POWER STEERING MADE A LOUD NOISE, THE CONSUMER STATED IT SOUNDED AS IF THE PUMP WAS ABOUT SEIZE AND THEN THE STEERING BECOMES HARD. AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, I HIT A WATER PUDDLE WITH THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL DURING A RAIN STORM AS I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A RIGHT-HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. AS I BEGAN THE TURN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. HAD I NOT SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, I WOULD HAVE HIT A CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO AVOID IT, BECAUSE I WAS GOING SO SLOW AT THE TIME. I HAD ALL I COULD DO, TO TURN THE WHEEL AND KEEP FROM HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I CALLED "ONSTAR" AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY ASKED IF I WANTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I SAID I WOULD WAIT AWHILE AND SEE IF IT WOULD WORK LATER. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER IT WORKED, BUT WAS WHISTLING AND GROANING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY (SUNDAY) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. THEY ADVISE ME TO CALL THE NEXT DAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT, WHICH I DID. IT WENT IN TO THE DEALER AT 10:30 AM THAT DAY. APPARENTLY THERE AS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THAT PROBLEM AND THE FENDER LINER/SPLASH GUARD HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED. A RECALL OR LETTER NOTIFYING OWNERS MAY PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
