Lift gate closes by itself I have to put a pole to hold it up and it won’t hit me, it says the air bags needs to be serviced, stabilitrak keeps going off, ball bearing needs work. Radio won’t turn on no sound on air signals, the body chasis something popped while driving, the tracking control keeps turning off, the seats move while driving, catalytic converter are moving car only go 12 mpg.

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while her daughter-in-law was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made a popping sound, and then the fuse box near the passenger's side headlight caught fire. No warning light was illuminated. The contact's daughter-in-law was able to exit the vehicle. There were no injuries, and medical attention was not received. Bystanders called the police and fire departments. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. Police and fire department reports were filed. The fire chief informed the contact that the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction. The vehicle was towed to the residence and had not yet been deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the battery had previously been replaced; however, the battery failed to retain a charge. The contact had to recharge the battery every day to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that water had leaked from the windshield and cowl to behind the glovebox, causing the battery to fail; however, no repair was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The headlights don't work even after replacing. It rains in the vehicle from the sunroof. The gas tank isn't registering even after fixing it. So the engine doesn't know how much to put out etc etc and it makes the car jerk horribly. This vehicle is a fire hazard due to raining inside on everything upfront. I have kids I pray nothing happens!!

Well my back trunk doesnt worrk well i open it but it closes half way it almost closed on me and its done that more then 3 times and im not sure why its scary cause my child almost got hit with it not opening right.

Vehicle has a sunroof drainage issue. Water leaks in through the corners of the sunroof and spills into the dashboard and under the carpeting. The vehicle has suffered electrical damage, corrosion, and mold because of the sunroof drainage issue. I have seen forums with hundreds of other owners who have suffered the same exact sunroof drainage problem with their 2007-2008 GMC Acadias. GMC says my vehicle is not listed in the recall, but I find that laughable. There are way too many Acadia owners that have this exact issue for it not to be a problem with all Acadias.

BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED, WAS FINE AND WAS A GREAT CAR FOR MONTHS UNTIL THE BATTERY WOULD NOT KEEP A CHARGE. TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE THEY TESTED MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ALL WAS GOOD THEY CHARGED UP MY BATTERY FOR ME. THE BATTERY LASTED TWO DAYS NEXT TIME I WENT TO START IT IT WAS DEAD. WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE IT EVERY DAY TO KEEP A CHARGE ON IT. EVENTUALLY WENT AND BOUGHT A BRAND NEW BATTERY. ONLY AFTER A FEW DAYS THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. ON A BRAND NEW BATTERY IT WOULD NEED TO BE DROVE EVERYDAY TO KEEP A CHARGE. IT'S TO THE POINT WHERE I WILL HAVE TO JUMP IT TO DRIVE IT AND THEN IT WONT EVEN KEEP A CHARGE FOR A HOUR. THIS VEHICLE WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN START SWAYING FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND THE STABILITRAK LIGHT WILL COME ON. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY SEIZE UP, LOSING ACCELERATION AND NEARLY CAUSING A CRASH. THE ENGINE WILL ALSO STATE THAT IT IS OVERHEATING, ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT ITSELF OFF AND SMOKE WILL START COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE GOING BETWEEN 35 AND 65 MPH. ON THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. MY CHILDREN IN THE BUCKET SEATS IN THE BACK WERE SLEEP AND THEIR HEADS HIT THE WINDOW. THEY SUSTAINED INJURY. THAT WAS ON A REGULAR STREET AND THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 35 MPH. I WAS WITHIN OR SLIGHTLY UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SWAYING UNEXPECTEDLY. WHEN THE ROAD IS WET, IT WILL SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE ON SIMPLE CURVES IN THE ROAD. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED TWICE. DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS AND FEAR OF MY FAMILY BEING FATALLY INJURED, IT WAS AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME. I HAVE HAD TO PARK THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC BY PHONE SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE IN RETURN. I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE AND WAS INFORMED TO REPORT IT TO NHTSA. MAYBE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE A DEATH OCCURS.

VEHICLE WAS SOUTHBOUND ON COUNTY ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AT THE INTERSECTION, WHEN THE CAR STRUCK THE SOUTH EMBANKMENT OF THE T INTERSECTION, AS DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO NAVIGATE THE TURN. NONE OF THE SIDE OR FRONT AIRBAGS IN THE CAR DEPLOYED AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. I AM ALSO UNSURE IF THE SEAT BELT HAD OPERATED CORRECTLY (SEAT BELT WAS BEING WORN AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH). THE DRIVER'S HEAD HIT THE SIDE WINDOW AND AS A RESULT HE SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY AND AN EYE INJURY RESULTING IN OPTIC NERVE DAMAGE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF VISION IN THE EYE. I UNDERSTAND THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAGS ON THESE VEHICLES WITH A POSSIBLE RECALL ISSUED. I DO HAVE ALL THE CORRESPONDING ACCIDENT REPORTS, MEDICAL REPORTS, ETC.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE WAS COMMON IN SIMILAR MODEL VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.

I'VE HAD MY GMC ACADIA FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW. I INITIALLY (WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE) HAD ISSUES WITH THE WINDOW MOTOR BECAUSE MY WINDOWS WEREN'T GOING UP WHEN PRESSING THE BUTTONS ON EITHER SIDE UP FRONT. CARMAX FIXED THE ISSUE. WELL, I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM TODAY EXCEPT THE PASSENGER SIDE BUTTON WORKS OCCASIONALLY TO ROLL UP THE FRONT WINDOW. THE DRIVER SIDE BUTTON WORKS FINE FOR THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND BOTH OF THE REAR WINDOWS. IT DOESN'T WORK TO ROLL UP THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER MY VEHICLE IS PARKED OR IN MOTION.

THE LAST TIME THEY LOOKED AT IT THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A LEAK BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND WHERE IT WAS. MY AMP HAS SHORTED OUT DUE TO ALL THE WATER AND I CAN IMAGINE WHAT'S NEXT. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION, THERE IS A RECALL ON OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL IN A LARGE RANGE OF YEARS. THE RECALL IS A TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIO AMPLIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR WOULD SAY NO ONE WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN IT AND WHILE DRIVING BLINK BETWEEN THE TWO. ALSO AIR BAG NEEDS MAINTANCE INDICTOR IN DASH WILL FLASH WHILE DRIVING. PARK ASSISTANT ON AND OFF WILL FLASH WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WILL MOVE IN ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AND AROUND BENDS/TURNS IN THE ROAD AND WORSENING ON HIGHWAY! I CALLED MY MECHANIC WHO I'VE KNOWN FOR YEARS MY FAMILY HAS WENT TO HIM AS WELL AND ASKED HIM TO ASSIST ME IN THE BATTERY ISSUE. SO WE GET THERE HE OPENS THE FLOOR BEHIND MY SEAT AND WE DISCOVERED THE BATTERY IS UNDERWATER DARK SLUDGY WATER! WHAT'S NOT WRONG WITH THIS CAR?? I BOUGHT IT USED WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER A YEAR EVERYTHING WENT DOWNHILL. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT THE GMC SERVICE AT LEASE 3 TIMES A YEAR. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON BUT IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE AIRBAG RECALL. WHAT ABOUT SAFETY? THERE HAS BEEN A CHECK STABILITY TRAC AND TRACTION LIGHTS ON AS WELL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN THOSE LIGHTS COME ON THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WHILE DRIVING ACROSS THE KENTUCKY BRIDGE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A 12 CAR PILE UP. IN ADDITION, IT ALSO SKIPS GEARS. WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP IT JERKS INTO THE NEXT GEAR LIKE A HICCUP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THESE PROBLEMS WERE ELECTRIC AND WEAR COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. HOWEVER, THEY STATED OTHERWISE. LITERALLY, 4 MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT. BUT WHAT A SURPRISE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NOW I'M LOOKING AT A $5,000 BILL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT IS TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO AN ELECTRIC ISSUE (OUT OF MY CONTROL). THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING. WATER LEAKS IN THESE MODEL VEHICLES ARE A KNOWN ISSUE AND GM HAS PUT OUT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT THESE LEAKS AND HOW TO FIX THEM. BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS SAYING GM WILL NOT WARRANTY THE LEAK REPAIR OR THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM FROM THE LEAK. WE ARE NOW FACED WITH A BILL OF $1600 TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND UNKNOWN AMOUNT TO REPAIR THE WATER LEAK AND ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY IT TO THE VEHICLE. UPON CLEARING DEBRIS CLOGGING THE TUBES AN EXESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER CAME SHOOTING OUT AND TUBES DRAINED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR A NON STOP STREAM. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR SO LATER, STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE. TESTED BATTERY AND IT WAS FINE. TESTED ALTERNATOR AND STARTER, BOTH FINE. TWO WEEKS LATER CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN. UPON AAA ARRIVING TO JUMP MY VEHICLE WE DISCOVERED THE ENTIRE BATTERY COMPARTMENT BEHIND PASSENGER SEAT WAS COMPLETELY FILLED AND BATTERY SUBMERGED IN WATER. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND ENTIRE FLOOR BOARD SATURATED AND HEADLINER. MOLD WAS ALSO FOUND ON SEATS, SEAT BELTS, CARPET, AIR VENTS, SUN VISORS, AND DOOR PANELS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THE SUN ROOF DRAIN LINE SHIFTED AND LEAKED WATER DOWN THE HEADLINER. THE FAILURE FLOODED THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, SIDE AIR BAG, AND VISOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN ROOF DRAINED CUBE SHIFTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE CARPET AND PANEL OF THE DRIVER SIDE HAD MOLD AND NEEDED TO BE TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS BULBS REPEATEDLY BURNED OUT AND NOW THE WIRE HARNESS HAS MELTED DOWN. FUSE FAILED TO TRIP. DAMAGE HAS NOW BEEN CAUSED TO THE ENTIRE DRL ASSEMBLY (MELTING, SEE PHOTO). ADDITIONALLY I AM CONCERNED THAT WHATEVER CAUSED THE BULB AND WIRING TO MELT WILL CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE AND ENDANGER MY FAMILY. THERE ARE MANY CASES OF THE DRL BULB AND HARNESS MELTING, BUT MY LOCAL GM DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL WHEN I CALLED TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE. GM/SATURN RELEASED A LETTER AUTHORIZING PAID REPAIRS, THAT WAS VALID FROM 2011-2013, BUT THESE VEHICLES ARE STILL ON THE ROAD, AND IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS. THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED--GM KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE COMPONENTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWING AMPLIFIER AND BATTERY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. I JUST REPLACED MY LEFT SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. WHEN I PULLED OUT THE OLD BULB, IT LOOKED BURNT ON THE TIP OF INSTEAD OF THE FIRST TIME I TREPLACED IT A YEAR AGO WHEN THE WIRES BECAME LOOSE AND BURNT OUT LIKE A TYPICAL LIGHT BULB. TODAY IS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A WEEK THAT THE SPEAKERS WENT OUT AND THERE WAS NO SOUND COMING OUT AT ALL. THE MAIN FUSE IS GOOD AND I DRAINED THE WATER FROM THE CONNECTORS ON ALL THE DOORS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHORTAGE SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE 5-10 MINUTES FOR THE SOUND TO COME BACK ON. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY SOLUTIONS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM DIY INSTEAD OF TAKING IT TO THE DEALER?

I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING AND HAD A FIRE IN THE PASSENGER HEATED SEAT WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING AND IT BURNED A SMALL HOLE IN HER JEANS SO FAR GMC IS CHECKING TO SEE IF ITS A DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT FAILURE OR NOT? IN THE MEAN TIME MY SUNROOF HAS QUIT WORKING AND NOW MY ROOF IS LEAKING AND MY CAR SMELLS LIKE MOLD. THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS GOING CRAZY WITH FLASHES OF INTERIOR LIGHTS. I ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE STOP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF PARKING AND FOUND OUT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OUR CHILDREN RIDE WITH US AND THEY ARE UNSAFE ESPECIALLY NOW THAT HER JEANS ARE BURNED AND SHE HAS A SMALL PINK SPOT FROM THE HEATED SEAT. THEY ADVISED A NEW WINDSHIELD AS MINE HAD A SMALL STAR CRACK IN IT AND NEEDED TO BE RESEALED. THAT ALONG WITH RECOMMENDING A NEW FUSE PANEL. THEY CHECKED ALL DRAIN LINES FOR SUNROOF AND SAID THEY WERE FINE. PAID THE BILL FOR THIS AT $799.58 WITH ASSURANCE THAT WATER ISSUE WAS FIXED. WELL ONE WEEK LATER AND THE FIRST RAIN SINCE AFTER SITTING IN LIGHT RAIN FOR 2 HOURS AND DRIVING 20 MINUTES I NOTICED WATER DRIPPING INTO BOTH FLOORBOARDS FROM A POST. I WILL BE TAKING BACK TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW WITH THEM STILL NOT AKNOWLEDGING ANYTHING ABOUT WATER PROBLEMS.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL GM OWNER, ESPECIALLY THE BUICK LASABRE WHICH I DROVE FOR 15 YEARS, BUT I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT AT, AND THEY ARE RATED BY THE BBB AS A. IT ALSO LEAKS AROUND WHERE THE BATTERY IS AT AN IT CAN CAUSE A SHORTAGE. WATER ALSO FALLS IN THROUGH ALL THE WAY TO THE CARPET WHERE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE, I DON'T KNOW IF THE REAR ROWS ARE AFFECTED. THIS MAKES THE CAR HAVE A UGLY SMELL AND SOMETIMES I CAN'T EVEN BREATHE IN MY OWN CAR-- IT SMELLS EXTREMELY HUMID AND HORRIBLE. THE WATER THAT LEAKS IN ALSO LEAVES NASTY MARKS AROUND THE INTERIOR ROOF OF THE CAR THAT REALLY MAKES ME FEEL DEPRESSED AS SOON AS I OPEN MY DOOR AND SEE IT. THIS PROBLEM REALLY CONCERNS ME AND I'VE ALSO SEE MULTIPLE REVIEWS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL AND REDUCED POWER LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR WAS RUNNING REALLY ROUGH AND I HAD TO CROSS TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER. I TURNED IT OFF AND SAT FOR 5-10 MINUTES. I STARTED IT AND IT ACTED LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND WAS THAT IT APPEARED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD MOISTURE IN IT AND THE MOISTURE HAD FROZEN. THEY DRIED IT OUT AND ITS BEEN FINE, UNTIL LAST WEEK. I WAS ON MY WAY TO CHICAGO, AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE, AND THE ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON, THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT, BUT I DID NOT LOSE POWER THIS TIME. I'M REALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AND UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE SEVERAL MORE TRIPS TO CHICAGO IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I WOULD TAKE OUR OTHER VEHICLE, BUT IT IS ALSO A GM PRODUCT AND IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS WHERE THE SAME SITUATION HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AS FAR BACK AS 6 YEARS AND APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF GM OWNERS. PEOPLE ARE HAVING SENSORS CHANGED OUT, THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND OTHER WORK DONE ON THEIR VEHICLES AND NOTHING IS SOLVING THE PROBLEM. GM NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND FIX IT! ITS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING ALONG IN WALL TO WALL TRAFFIC AND LIGHTS START COMING ON AND THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THAT! UNFORTUNATELY, SINCE WE HAVE TWO GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID DRIVING ONE OF THEM. IT STARTED AS A VERY RARE INCIDENT. WHEN WE HEARD ABOUT THE HEAVY KEY CHAIN PROBLEM WE TOOK EVERYTHING OFF OUR FOBS BUT TWO KEYS. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY WIFE WOULD COMPLAIN THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD "CUTOFF" OR "DIE" GENERALLY AT SLOW SPEED IN AREAS SUCH A PARKING LOTS WHEN TURNING, HOWEVER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RE-CREATE THE ISSUE SO NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. ONE DAY THIS SUMMER (2014) MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, IT JUST WOULD NOT CRANK. ON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CORRODED BATTERY CABLE THAT RAN FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE TO THE STARTER IN THE ENGINE BAY. COST TO REPAIR $1,200. THE BATTERY WAS TAKEN AND CHECKED OUT GOOD OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE THAT THERE PLENTY OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS IN PLACE NOW. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS ITS AFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD,4 YEAR OLD, AND A 5 YEAR OLD. LAST NIGHT I WAS SCARED BECAUSE I LEFT WORK AT MIDNIGHT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED JUMPING THEN TURNED OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET . I CALLED ON-STAR AND THEY WERE DISPATCHING A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT COME ON. AFTER 45 MINUTES I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT CAME ON SO I CANCELLED THE TOW TRUCK SERVICE. THIS IS A ISSUE THAT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I CANT GET THE ISSUED FIXED BECAUSE THE LAST 2 DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS THAT WERE RAN STATES NO ISSUES. TODAY I CALLED AN AUTO WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP TO SEE IF THE WINDSHIELD COULD BE LEAKING AND WAS TOLD THAT IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF IT HAS NOT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING, THAT GM WAS GOOD ABOUT INSTALLING AND SEALING THE WINDSHIELD. MY CAR IS KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND I AM THE ONLY DRIVER. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE WIRING WILL SHORT OUT, CAUSE A SOFT SPOT IN THE FLOOR, OR START A FIRE. IN 2011, OUR ACADIA ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. FIRST THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING BURNT. WE HAD THAT REPLACED. AFTER THE HEADLIGHT, WE STARTED NOTICING THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NOTIFYING US THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. NONE OF THE SOUNDS WHERE COMING ON IN THE CAR. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU WERE NOT WEARING YOUR SEATBELT THE "DINGING" DID NOT HAPPEN. I TOOK THE ACADIA IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY CELL PHONE THAT TRIGGERED THE DEFECT. TURNED OFF VEHICLE WHEN ARRIVED HOME. OPENED THE DOOR AND REALIZED CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, KEYS WERE IN MY HAND. PUT KEY BACK IN IGNITION AND JIGGLED, NOTHING HAPPENED, CAR STILL RUNNING. TURNED KEY TO MIDDLE AND THEN TO START, TURNED OFF AGAIN AND CAR FINALLY SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO START AGAIN TO SEE IF HAPPENED AND THE YELLOW LIGHT (MALFUNCTION LIGHT) CAME ON. DRIVING NORTH BOUND ON AZ ROUTE 89 IN THE AREA OF PRESCOTT, AZ CALLED THE GRANITE DELLS, THE CAR PROCEEDED STRAIGHT WHERE THE ROAD TURNS SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE CAT PROCEEDED INTO AND PARTIALLY UP A GRANITE STONE OUT CROPPING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR THEN WENT AIR BORNE LANDING UP SIDE DOWN ON ITS ROOF IN THE MIDDLE OF ROUTE 89. I BELIEVE THAT THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED DUE TO IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE WHICH IN TURN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, AND THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WHICH IN THIS ACCIDENT FAIL TO DEPLOY. MY WIFE WAS AIR LIFTED TO NORTHERN ARIZONA MEDICAL CENTER IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ FOR SEVER HEAD INJURE FROM WHICH SHE HAS RECOVERED. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE IGNITION FAILURES THAT HAVE SHOWN UP ON OTHER GM CARS IS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR THE 2008 GMC ACADIA AND POSSIBLY OTHER LIKE MODELS OF GM VEHICLES. WE BOUGHT OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA IN JANUARY 2008. THE BATTERY DIED IN JULY 2008 WHILE VACATIONING IN CANADA LEAVING US STRANDED. AFTER IT WENT DEAD SEVERAL MORE TIMES THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT. THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT SEVERAL TIMES IN 2010 AND WE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE AC RECHARGED TWICE SINCE. IN JULY 2013 WE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WHEN IT STOPPED SHIFTING INTO GEAR. MY 2008 ACADIA TRANSMISSION FAILED AS I EXITED A HIGHWAY (70 MPH) AND WAS GOING UP THE EXIT RAMP. IT BEGAN BUCKING LIKE A HORSE. ONCE I PULLED OVER AND PARKED, I COULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I FELT WATER DRIP FROM OVERHEAD AND HEARD SLOSHING NOISES. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WATER BEGAN LEAKING FROM AIRBAG INDICIA. THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. IMAGINE HOW UNSAFE TO TURN OFF A VEHICLE, REMOVE THE KEY AND THE ENGINE TO REMAIN RUNNING. BEFORE I COULD GET TO SERVICE, THE TEMPERATURE PLUMMETED TO BELOW ZERO, AND I COULD NOT GET THE DEFROSTER TO WORK. I SCRAPED THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDOWS, BUT WITHOUT HEAT, FOGGED AGAIN. ZERO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER SAID THERE WERE MULTIPLE POINTS WHERE WATER WAS SEEPING INTO THE CAR, WREAKING HAVOC WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INCLUDING HVAC, DEFROSTER. SERVICE TECH SAID THERE WAS "BLOWER MOWER" FAILURE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE HAD SAME PROBLEMS AS GMC ACADIA CAMPAIGN 08207, WITH FAILURE OF SUNROOF PART 25930220, WHICH AFFECTED LIMITED VIN NUMBERS. WE ALSO DISCOVERED THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING FROM THE WATER DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE CURRENT STATUS OF THIS GETTING REPAIRED IS UNKNOWN -- OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS! IN ADDITION, I HAD NOTICED FLOOR MATS BEING DAMP, BUT ASSUMED A CONSEQUENCE OF THE SNOW AND RAIN. I AM CONVINCED THAT THE LEAK/DAMP FLOOR MATS IS REASON FOR THE MILDEW/MOLD SMELL. EACH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE WELL DOCUMENTED IN THEIR TSBS. I WAS ALSO SHOCKED TO FIND SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS! PLEASE, PLEASE REVIEW THE CORRELATION BETWEEN TSBS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES AND REPAIRS TO THE LEAKING HOSE. OF COURSE, GMC DENIES THIS IS THEIR PROBLEM, AND SAYS REPAIRS WILL ALL BE AT MY EXPENSE. GM DEALER REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE LABOR COST US SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS. NOW AT 170,000 MILES, THIS REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION IS NOW GOING OUT. IT STICKS IN LOW SPEED AND THEN OVERHEATS DRIVING 65MPH IN 40DEG WEATHER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN HAS TO BE FIXED FIRST, BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION, AT A COST OF $1944. THE FLUID LEVEL IS GOOD, AND THE VEHICLE HAS A TOW PACKAGE WITH A COOLER FOR THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. GM DEALER SAID THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE COVERED BY WARRANTY, WHICH WILL LIKELY MEAN ANOTHER SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLAR LABOR CHARGE ON TOP OF THE SO CALLED STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN COST OF $1,900. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ARCADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUNROOF WAS LEAKING DUE TO A SHORTAGE IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS OVER HEATING AND CAUSING THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO MELT. INCIDENCES ON 8-1-09 8-15-09 4-8-10 AND 11-15-12. AND AGAIN IN 2013. THE FACT THAT THERE IS ENOUGH HEAT TO MELT THE ASSEMBLY TO THE HOUSING TELLS ME THERE IS POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN AND MECHANICAL FLAW OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER END OF THIS IS THAT ALONG WITH THE CHANCE OF FIRE, THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN REQUIRES THE ENTIRE FRONT GRILL TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS AND HOUSING. THIS LABOR INTENSIVE METHOD MEANS THAT REPLACING THIS PART CAN COST UPWARD OF $900. AND IT STILL DOES NOT ADDRESS THE INITIAL PROBLEM OF THE OVERHEATING THAT CAUSED THE WIRING HARNESS TO MELT INTO THE HOUSING. WHILE OUT SHOPPING WITH MY CHILDREN WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE TO DEPART FOR THE MALL, THE IGNITION TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION, I REMOVED THE KEY BUT THE CAR REMAINED ON. MY VEHICLE SAT OUT IN THE RAIN OVER NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY WHEN I GOT TO WORK I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, SO I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF ONLY THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I TURNED THE KEY OVER AND THEN BACK AND THEN AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE STOPPED. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY CAR THAT EVENING AFTER WORK MY CAR WAS DEAD. IT TOOK TWO GUYS 30 MINUTES TO GET MY BATTERY TO CHARGE. ONCE MY BATTERY WAS CHARGED MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WAS DEAD WHEN I TURNED THE KEY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TURNED ON AND I COULD NOT GET THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. OUR VEHICLE SAT OUT IN THE RAIN FOR SEVERAL HOURS BECAUSE WE WERE AT OUR DAUGHTER'S SPORTING EVENT IN ANOTHER TOWN. WE DID OUR BEST TO CLEAN THE WATER UP AND PLANNED ON CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS WE COULD. WE DROVE THE CAR TO WORK THE FOLLOWING MORNING AS THIS IS OUR MAIN VEHICLE AND WHEN MY HUSBAND SHUT OFF THE CAR HE NOTICED THAT IT WAS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE. AFTER A MONTH OF OUR CAR BEING OUT OF COMMISSION, GM AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE DETERMINED THAT THERE IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AND WE WILL NEED TO HAVE THE WIRING AND CIRCUIT BOARDS REPLACED AT A COST OF $6000. GM HAS COMPLETELY WASHED THEIRS HANDS OF THIS AND CONTINUES TO SAY IT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AND WE DIDN'T MAINTAIN THE SUNROOF PROPERLY (ALTHOUGH NO DOCUMENTATION WAS GIVEN TO INFORM US THAT THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN) AND CLEARLY THEY KNOW OF THE DESIGN FLAW SINCE THEY RECALLED IT ONCE FOR A LEAKY ROOF (WE HAD THE RECALL DONE). THAT VEHICLE WAS FIXED PER TSB YET PROBLEM NEVER SOLVED IT JUST CONTINUED TO LEAK. DEALERSHIP BOUGHT IT BACK ONCE THEY FOUND US A DIFFERENT ACADIA WHICH I NOW HAVE A 08. THEY SAID THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE 07'S WATER LEAKING WAS A MAJOR ISSUE BUT NOT WITH THE 08'S. WELL WE SIGNED THE PAPERS ON MARCH 1ST AND NO SUPRISE WATER LEAKING EVERYWHERE BY MARCH 10TH. I CONTACTED GMC AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND THEN THEY WILL PASS IT ON TO SOME OTHER DEPARTMENT CLAIM SPECILIST PERSON TO SEE IF THEY CAN HELP. OH YEAH AND FOUND OUT FROM GMC THAT THE TSB FOR DRAIN TUBE EXTENSIONS HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE ON VEHICLE. I AM HOPEFULL THAT GMC WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE AT THEIR EXPENSE. ---WITH THE FIRST VEHICLE, AFTER WATER ISSUE STARTED MY WIFE WOULD BE DRIVING AND THE POWER SEAT WOULD MOVE ALL THE WAY FORWARD AND SHE COULD NOT STOP THAT FROM HAPPENING. SHE TRIED TO HIT THE BUTTON TO STOP THE SEAT FROM MOVING BUT IT WAS NON RESPONSIVE UNTIL THE SEAT WAS ALL THEY WAY FORWARD. MY VEHICLE HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS. THE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE BULB MELTING INTO, AND FUSING TO, THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS CREATED A CONDITION WHERE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS INCLUDES THE LENS PIECE, THE BULB, AND THE WIRING CONNECTOR. THIS IS AN ISSUE AT NIGHT (NO/MISALIGNED HEADLIGHTS), THE LOSS OF THE BENEFIT OF DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS, AND I IMAGINE A POSSIBLE FIRE. *TR

I REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP AND 8 DAYS LATER REPLACED PASSENGER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP. THE LAST BULB REPLACED WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND NOW IS BURNED OUT AGAIN LESS THAN THREE WEEKS LATER. THERE IS EVIDENCE ON BOTH BULB CONNECTORS OF OVERHEATING. DIELECTRIC GREASE HAS BEEN USED EVERYTIME BULBS HAVE BEEN CHANGED THROUGH OUT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, ANY TIME THERE IS OVERHEATING ON AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FURTHER PROBLEMS COULD ARISE. THERE IS A FACTORY RECALL ON OTHER YEAR MODELS BUT NOT ON THE 2008 GMC ACADIA SLT-2 HAVING EVERY BELL & WHISTLE ALONG WITH HIGHER PRICE TAG THAN LESSER TRIM PACKAGES. *TR

BOUGHT OUR GMC ACADIA DEC. 2011 HAD NO ISSUES TILL JAN 2012. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY FOR SEEMINGLY LINKED PROBLEMS. STARTED WITH JUST A DEAD BATTERY UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS SUBMERGED IN WATER, CAUSING BATTERY TO SHORT OUT, REPLACED THE BATTERY AND FIXED THE APPARENT POINT OF ENTRY. NOT TWO WEEKS LATER BACK IN THE SHOP, WATER POURING FROM THE HEAD LINER (AROUND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, SUNROOF MOLDINGS, AND SEAT BELT JOINTS). OUR ACADIA REMAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE DAYS WITH NO LUCK OF FINDING A LEAK (CHECKED ALL DRAIN LINES AND RAN THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WATER MACHINE). HERE WE ARE AGAIN VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP FOR A WEEK WITH NO LUCK OF FINDING THE POINT OF INTRUSION; THIS TIME THE WATER LEAK SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE FUSE PANEL. AFTER TRYING TO FIND THE LEAK FOR OVER A WEEK, SENDING THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SHOP TO "GET A FRESH SET OF EYES ON IT", AND CONTACTING GM FOR ADVISE (WHICH WAS NO HELP) THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN LOCATING THE WATER LEAK. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. ALL I KNOW IS WE BOUGHT A $30,000.00 CAR SO WE WOULDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS AND HERE WE ARE WITH PROBLEMS, EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS LEASED NEW IN 2008 AND HAD WATER LEAKING AROUND SUNROOF. THE LEAK WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER BETWEEN 08-11 THERE WERE NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ON THIS CAR RELATING TO THE WATER LEAK. ON OCTOBER 11, 2011 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF- RADIO, DIRECTIONALS, GAGES, LIGHTS. THE CAR REMAINED RUNNING AND WITHIN SECONDS THE ELECTRICAL WAS RESTORED. IT HAS CONTINUED TO SHUT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THAT I SHOULD BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ON THE WAY HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF ONCE THE KEY WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. THE CONTACT COULD REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE CAUSED BY A WATER LEAK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MOLDING AROUND THE SUN ROOF WHERE THE WATER WAS LEAKING IN FROM. THE FAILURE CONTINUED, AS WATER CONTINUED TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

2008 GMC ACADIA SLT HAS SEVERE WATER LEAKAGE INSIDE THE CABIN THAT CAUSE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO INTERIOR CARPETING AND PANELS. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALSO BEGIN TO HAPPEN SUCH AS BACK UP ASSIST DISABLED, AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHING, REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS NOT SHUTTING OFF AND MORE I AM SURE WILL HAPPEN AS WATER ENTERS THE CABIN AND AREAS THAT YOU CANNOT SEE. I OWN A 2008 GMC ACADIA WITH MELTING HEADLIGHTS. THE PLASTIC HOUSING IS MELTING AND THE BULBS ARE MELTING INTO THE SOCKETS. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS FOR MANY MONTHS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INCLUDING REPLACING 3 BATTERIES IN 1 1/2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY THE DEALER WHICH FINDS "NO PROBLEM" WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND NO EXPLANATION FOR THE BATTERY LIFE. WITH INTENSE HEAT THAT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO CAUSE THIS SOCKET TO MELT, METAL AND ALL, IS OF GREAT CONCERN, AND IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. MY COMPLAINT CONCERNS MY 2008 ACADIA DELIVERED SEPT.2007. CURRENTLY WITH LESS THAN 5,900 MILES ON IT. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR FAILURE TO START FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE BATTERY IS SOMEHOW BEING DISCHANGED. OTHER THAN REPLACING THE ORIGINAL BATTERY, ON THE FIRST OCCURANCE, THE DEALER SERVICE CAN NOT SEEM TO TRACK DOWN THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKS OUT OK. IT DOES SEEM TO START FINE FOR A WHILE, SEVERAL WEEKS, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL HAVE A DEAD BATTERY OVER NIGHT. NOTHING IS EVER LEFT ON. I CHECK THAT EACH TIME THE GARAGE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS GO OUT IN ONE MINUTE, IF ON. WHILE DRIVING I DO NOTICE THE VOLTMETER ON NUMEROUS OCCASSIONS WELL STAY AT ABOUT +15 VOLT CHARGING RATE. I KNOW THAT IT SHOULD BE NO HIGHER THAN ABOUT +13.5 VOLTS, AND SOMETIMES IT DOES, BUT MOST TIMES, NOT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE FIRE DANGER AND BEING STRANDED SOMWHERE. I AM AN AIRCRAFT A&P. MY TROUBLE SHOOTING THOUGHTS POINT TO A STARTER SHORTING. I COULD BE WRONG BUT I WOULD START THERE AND PROVE THAT NOT TO BE THE PROBLEM. EASIEST FIX FIRST, THE AIR FORCE WAY. *TR
