The traction control turns on and then the shifts don’t work and I can’t drive since there is no speed also the rpm and the gas the speed and the battery gages start flickering up and down then I turn off the truck and it continues to work fine but after 40 miles or so it does it all again

The contact owned a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, a grayish-colored smoke as well as an abnormal sound emit from the engine without warning. The contact pulled over and exited the vehicle as the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. The contact called the fire department and they extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed(#23-046145) and no injuries were reported. The contact stated that the highway barrier was damaged as a result of the fire. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS A PRODUCT DEFECT THAT IS DANGEROUS. GM HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE AND THE AUTONATION HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN A 3 WEEK PERIOD THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT DRIVER PROMPTS OR CONTROL (RPMS REVVED FROM 2000 TO OVER 6000 AND SPEED WOULD INCREASE FROM 50 MPH TO OVER 85 MPH WITH ACCELERATOR PEGGED TO THE FLOOR.) THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS WAS TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE FOR 10-15 MINUTES, THEN RESTART IT AND IT WOULD RUN NORMALLY FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. IF I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AT A TIME IT WOULD REACT THIS WAY EVERY TIME AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HIT 2 VEHICLES ON THE INTERSTATE. ON ONE OCCASION I HAD TO IMPACT A GUARDRAIL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP WHO STATED ON BOTH OCCASIONS THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 5-10 MINUTES OR LESS THAN 15 MILES. WHEN I INFORMED THEM THAT IT ONLY OCCURRED AFTER 30-45 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE TECHNICIAN STATED HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT LENGTH OF TIME OR DISTANCE AND WENT ON TO SAY NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE TRIPPED SO THERE WASN'T ANY REPAIRS HE COULD DO OR THAT GMC WOULD AUTHORIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AT WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND FOUND OVER 25 SIMILAR ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL. TWO OF WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH WITH SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS. I WAS FORCED TO SELL THIS VEHICLE AT A 2554.00 LOSS AND WILL NOW BE FILING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GMC AND THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP I DEALT WITH AFTER I COMPILE THE REQUIRED EVIDENCE FROM THE OTHER 25 OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE KNOWING FULL WELL INJURIES HAD BEEN REPORTED TO NHTSA IN PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS. I MAY INCLUDE NHTSA IN MY CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IF MY ATTORNEYS THINK IT TO BE A GOOD IDEA.

I PURCHASED A 2008 ACADIA IN NOVEMBER 2016. THE SELLER STATED THAT THEY HAD TO ORDER A AIRBAG AND REPLACE THE OLD ONE. ALONE WITH THE SEAT BELT. I DIDN'T GET THE CAR UNTIL A MONTH LATER. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND INSERTING IT TO THE ON POSITION CYCLING THAT MOTION FOUR TO FIVE TIMES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS I HAVE AND THEY ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM CERTAIN I AM NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. OH, AND WE WERE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY IN THE BEGINNING WHERE THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG, AND AS SOON AS WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, BOOM! TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE FIXED! TRANSMISSION DEALER SAID THE DAMAGE WAS FROM A CHEAP 15.00 PART THAT CAUSED US TO HAVE TO SPEND 5 GRAND WHILE ON VACATION. I THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE. SEVERAL PASSERS-BY NOTICED AND CALLED POLICE REPORTING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. GOT A RIDE TO WORK. TOWED TO THE DEALER / SERVICE CENTER WHO REPLACED TIMING CHAIN. THEY SAID THE ENGINE IS SHOT. 2 PISTONS FELL OUT. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NEEDS TO OCCUR ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A PILE OF JUNK TO FIX AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE. TIMING CHAIN AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. ENGINE PROBLEMS. HAPPENED 2X ALREADY. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION HIGH RATE OF SPEED 55 TO 75 MPH, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN DRASTICALLY ON ITS OWN. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF LOOSING ALL POWER AND POWER STEERING. HAPPENED ONCE ON HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON A MAJOR BUSY ROAD. IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE THERE IS NO POWER. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE I COULD NOT EVEN TELL THE ENGINE STOPPED BECAUSE THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STILL WORKED. PULLED OVER, WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THEN TRY TO START VEHICLE. IT WILL START AND EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD MY 3 KIDS IN CAR. NOT SAFE AT ALL. APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO, MY 2008 GMC ACADIA WAS SERVICED AT 140,000 MILES FOR WORN OUT TIMING CHAINS. NOW, I AM LOOKING AT PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. HOW CONVENIENT. WITHIN THREE WEEKS THIS VEHICLE HAS FAILED ON ME. THE TIMING CHAINS WERE RATTLING IN TURNS WHEN IT WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. I ACTUALLY VISITED AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, SO I WAS RIDING AROUND WITH A FAULTY PART IN MY ENGINE. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AFTER I HAD EXITED THE INTERSTATE AT WHICH POINT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 10 MPH. GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT DECIDED TO STALL OUT ON ME AS I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DISASTROUS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN. THE 2007 AND 2009 GMC MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR TIMING CHAIN ISSUES, NEVER THE 2008 MODEL. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE, WHICH HAD A 20,000 MILE EXTENSION FROM GM TO COVER THE REPAIR IF THIS BROKE, WHICH OF COURSE I AM OUT OF, THUS THE REPAIR COSTS FOR BOTH DEFECTS ARE MY PROBLEM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WILL NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCTS KNOWING THAT THEY ARE FAULTY. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAN UP TO THE FACT THEY HAVE INFERIOR PRODUCTS INSIDE THESE ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS.

TAKATA RECALL. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2012 AND IN 2014 I NOTICED THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LOW. I FILLED IT WITH DEXCOOL AND WATCHED IT. OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS THE CAR HAS BEEN IN CLOSE TO 20 TIMES BECAUSE THE COOLANT IS LOW. RECENTLY I NOTICED THE CAR HAD A CLASS III LEAK OF DEXCOOL COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL AREA, I TOOK IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE PRESSURE RELEASE AND I HAD OVERFILLED IT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE AUTOBAHN IN SPEEDS OF 90+ MPH THE BATTERY LEVEL DROPPED ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE RIGHT FRONT ENGINE AREA WAS STEAMING. I HAVE TAKEN TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR WHAT IS WRONG. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO MANY GMC DEALERS EACH SAYING THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM BUT AREN'T ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I NOTICED A LEAK IN MY DRIVEWAY UNDER MY 2008 ACADIA. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD FIND OUT WHERE IT WAS LEAKING. THEY FOUND THE ENGINE LEAKING IN SEVERAL PLACES INCLUDING THE FRONT COVER. IN ADDITION TO THE ENGINE LEAKING, THEY ALSO FOUND THE WATER PUMP TO BE LEAKING AND IN NEED OF BEING REPLACED. WHILE PUTTING NEW SEALS IN THE ENGINE, THEY FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAINS WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR AS WELL. WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS IN 90+ DEGREE WEATHER, THE 2008 GMC ACADIA EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE QUIT ALONG WITH ALL ELECTRONICS, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. LET CAR SIT FOR 20 MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP AND DROVE FINE FOR A WEEK OR SO THEN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITHIN 5 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND TWO DEALERSHIPS. OF THOSE DEALERSHIPS, WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL AUTONATION GMC DEALER 3 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 2 WEEKS AND ALL GROUPS WHO HAVE LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND AND "CODES" AFTER RUNNING THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. WE HAVE REQUESTED AN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER TO BE ORDERED FROM AUTONATION GMC PARK MEADOWS (CO) BUT HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY AND INTERSTATE SPEEDS. HAVE RESEARCHED OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE.

FULL DIAGNOSTICS PERFORMED BY LOCAL DEALER STATED TIMING CHAIN BUFFERS WERE BEGINNING TO FAIL. EST COST $3500. ADVISED THAT SINCE THE LIGHT COMES ON/OFF INTERMITTENTLY, OKAY TO WAIT TO SEE IF PROBLEM WORSENS, WHICH MAY BE MANY YEARS, IF EVER. AT 92K MILES, WHILE ON HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS, RPM'S CLIMBED, PULLED OVER VEHICLE WHERE IT STALLED AND WOULDN'T RESTART. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER, WHERE TESTED AND DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEEDS REPLACEMENT DUE TO LOUD METALIC ENGINE NOISE AND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL. ESTIMATED REPAIRS FROM TWO GMC DEALERS OF $6600 TO $7600 FOR RE-MANUFACTURED ENGINE. LOCAL DEALERS HAVE STATED THAT TIMING CHAIN BUFFERS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2008 GMC ACADIA AND VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED, BUT IS NOT DUE TO THE COST OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT. CONTACTED GMC (BELVA - SENIOR CASE ANALYST) TO DESCRIBE CASE AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS BECAUSE: 1) VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED - STATING THAT ALL SUCH PURCHASES ARE 'AS-IS' FROM DEALER AND ITS UP TO THE CONSUMER TO DO DUE-DILEGENCE BEFORE PURCHASING, 2) VEHICLE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED BY DATE SHORTLY BEFORE PURCHASE, AND 3) POWER TRAIN WARRANTY IS NOW 3 YEARS PAST THE DATE, REGARDLESS OF WHEN ISSUE FIRST APPEARED. GMC SENIOR ADVISOR ALSO STATED THE SHE RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED GM PRODUCT, AND THE ENGINE FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARD AT 100K MILES, AND GM WILL NOT ASSIST HER EITHER, AS THAT IS ALSO OUT OF THE DATE RANGE OF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. ENGINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE K-GM (SAINT CATHARINES, ONTARIO) PLANT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AGAIN WHERE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE OIL COAGULATED AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT A NORMAL SPEED (55) ON A HIGHWAY, A DINGING SOUND COMES ON AND THE CAR GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE, LOSING SPEED. THE STABILITRAK AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING COMES ON. THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO CROSS TRAFFIC AT INTERSECTIONS AS THE CAR WILL BARELY ACCELERATE. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALSO, THE CARS BEHIND YOU DO NOT KNOW WHY YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN. THEN WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND THE CAR DRIVES FINE. AFTER THREE TRIPS TO THE GMC DEALER, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE PROBLEM. GMC HAS ISSUED SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WARRANTY ON THE 2007 & THE 2009 BUT NOT THE 2008. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE WARRANTY IS SUFFICIENT. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE AFTER SEARCHING THE FORUMS, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THIS HAPPENING. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FOR A TOTAL OF $600. THEY GAVE A GUARANTEE THAT THERE WOULD BE NO MORE LEAKS. ON NOVEMBER 18 THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AREA AND WATER POURED FROM THE ROOF ONTO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT WHEN I MADE A FULL STOP. CURRENTLY AWAITING A RETURN CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER OF GMC DEALER. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN FROM ONE COLLEGE CAMPUS LOCATION TO ANOTHER, IN OTHER WORDS MANY STOP AND GO AND SIDE STREETS AT 30 MPH OR LESS. MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 GMC ACADIA IN AUGUST 2009. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OR SO I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM AND THE PLASTIC OVER THE LIGHTS STARTED TO PEEL. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, THAT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I CALLED GM DIRECT AND THEY ALSO SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL AND THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A CHEMICAL THAT WE USED TO WASH OUR CAR, THAT CAUSED THE PEELING. THEY QUOTED ME $800 FOR A NEW SET OF HEADLIGHTS... UGH... A YEAR OR SO LATER, I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STRUTS. THEY BEGAN TO LEAK. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKE LINE AND I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STRUTS WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACING. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS AROUND 36,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE ON VACATION THE WEEKEND OF AUGUST 15-17, OUR VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE ON 8-26-14. AFTER 2 1/2 DAYS OF DIAGNOSING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED US WE HAD 2 BENT RODS IN CYLINDER 3 AND 4. WE CONTACTED GM TO OPEN A CASE STUDY. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED US AND ASKED US WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR AS A RESOLUTION. WE FELT THAT WITH ONLY 43,000 MILES ON IT, OUR VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING SUCH DRASTIC ENGINE ISSUES. FURTHERMORE, THE ENGINE/TIMING COVER WAS ALREADY REPLACED AT 23,118 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP ASKED US TO VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO FLOOD HISTORY, GET DETAILS OF THE WARRANTY PROVIDED BY THE DEALER FROM WHOM WE PURCHASED IT, AND PROVIDE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. WE DID THAT. THE DEALERSHIP FIRST TOLD US THEY WOULD GIVE US $1,000 OFF A NEW VEHICLE (REALLY?). WE SAID WE STILL HAD A LOAN AND PAYMENT. THEY ADVISED US THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO COME CLOSE TO OUR CURRENT PAYMENT. WHEN WE SPOKE WITH THEM NEXT, THEY ADVISED THAT GM WOULD NOT BE PROVIDING ANY ASSISTANCE AND THAT THEY THINK NOW IT IS JUST A VALVE ISSUE. HOW CAN YOU GO FROM 2 BENT RODS TO A VALVE ISSUE? WE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK TOGETHER; WE WERE COMING TO GET IT. WE TOWED IT HOME. WE CONTACTED GM AGAIN TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT A BAD EXPERIENCE WE HAD WITH A DEALERSHIP THAT KEPT CHANGING THEIR STORY ABOUT WHAT GM WAS GOING TO DO TO HELP AND WHAT OUR PROBLEMS WERE. I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL ON 2007 AND 2009 FOR SEVERAL OF THESE ISSUES. I CALLED ON-STAR AND THEY WERE DISPATCHING A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT COME ON. AFTER 45 MINUTES I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT CAME ON SO I CANCELLED THE TOW TRUCK SERVICE. THIS IS A ISSUE THAT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I CANT GET THE ISSUED FIXED BECAUSE THE LAST 2 DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS THAT WERE RAN STATES NO ISSUES. WHEN FIRST STARTING ENGINE A LOUD POP WOULD OCCUR. SIGNALS, CLOCK,STEREO, DOME LIGHT, BATTERY GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. CHEVROLET DEALER REPLACED THE STEREO AND AMPLIFIER ($1500 ). WAS TOLD IT COULD BE THE SUN ROOF TUBES WERE BLOCKED SO I TOOK IT TO THE AUTO GLASS PLACE AND HAD THE TUBES CLEANED OUT. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WATER BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO LOOSE POWER IN VEHICLE AGAIN. JUST WENT ON A TRIP AND HAD TO PARK OUTSIDE IN PARKING AREA AND HAD A REAL PUDDLE ON MY MAT AND UNDERNEATH THE MAT. TODAY I CALLED AN AUTO WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP TO SEE IF THE WINDSHIELD COULD BE LEAKING AND WAS TOLD THAT IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF IT HAS NOT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING, THAT GM WAS GOOD ABOUT INSTALLING AND SEALING THE WINDSHIELD. SINCE 2011 MY 2008 GMC ACADIA HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREETS SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST MAJOR INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE - THANKFULLY I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. THE FIRST TIME GMC COVERED THE REPAIR COST DONE BY A CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. MY 2008 GMC ACADIA GAVE ME THE SCARE OF MY LIFE. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE JUST LAST MONTH AND WAS VERY PROUD, I HAVE BEEN DREAMING OF THIS CAR FOR A WHILE. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MILES. DESPITE MY CONTINUING TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. I ENDED UP JERKING MY WAY ONWARD WITH MY HAZARDS ON. I HAD CARS SCREECHING AND FLYING AROUND ME. MY KIDS AND I ARE A NERVOUS WRECK. THE 521 DOES NOT HAVE A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON. MILES LATER VARYING SPEEDS AS LOW AS 15 AND UP TO 35 MPH I FOUND A GAS STATION (THANK GOD) & PULLED OVER. MY ENGINE WILL STAY RUNNING AFTER THE KEY IS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION THE CAR CONTINUES TO STAY RUNNING THE ENGINE DOES THAT IS ALL OTHER LIGHTS GO OFF NO RADIO OR AC STAY ON. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP DIFFERENT TIMES NO ONE CAN CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE ISSUE. I AM NOW WATCHING THE TOW TRUCK HOOK MY CAR UP TO BE TAKEN TO THE GMC DEALER WHICH IS GOING TO COST MORE THAN I AM SURE I CAN AFFORD TO PAY AS A SINGLE MOTHER TRYING TO MAKE ENDS MEET. IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR (2013) THE TRANSMISSION IN OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN HOME FROM PRESCHOOL. GM IS ESSENTIALLY TELLING IT'S CUSTOMERS THAT IT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR SAFETY OR WELL BEING. THEY ALLOW US TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THEIR CARS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER INVOLVED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHUTS DOWN. IT TOOK 25 MINUTES FOR THE CAR TO SHUT TOTALLY DOWN. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE CAR, AS I OPENED THE DOOR, I NOTICED THE WARNING SOUND AS IF THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION AND ALSO ALTHOUGH THE ENTIRE DASH WAS OFF, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, (IM NOT SURE HOW SINCE THE CAR WAS "OFF" AND NO KEY INSERTED). I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR REMAINED ON, BEGAN SHAKING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO STAYED ON AFTER THE CAR WAS TOTALLY SHUT DOWN. I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 GMC ACADIA ALONG WITH MY SISTER AND HER TWO GOD CHILDREN. WE WERE AT A RED LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO GO WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. GOT UP TO 20MPH AND THE SUV JERKED SEVERELY. ONCE IT JERKED THE SUV WOULD NOT GO OVER THAT MILEAGE. WE WERE ALL SCARED! I TOOK THEM HOME AND DROVE TO A GM DEALERSHIP. I PAID $114.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY SPECULATED THAT A WAVE PLATE BROKE OR MOVED. THEY ADVISED IN ORDER TO KNOW FOR SURE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 900.00 PLUS FOR A DEEPER DIAGNOSTIC! I'M UNDER MY 100K MILEAGE AND NO ONE IS HONORING THAT. I'M A MBA STUDENT AND DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF CASH! I'VE ONLY HAD THIS SUV FOR 3 YEARS. I BOUGHT IT USED, HAD ONLY ONE OWNER BEFORE ME, AND IT WAS UNDER 20K MILES. MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT, FRUSTRATING. LIST OF REPAIRS: TIMING BELT, HEAD LIGHTS, STEERING, CAMSHAFT, OIL LEAK, STRUTS, BRAKES AND THIS IS WHAT I CAN RECALL MOSTLY.THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE SERVICES ESPECIALLY FOR SERVICE STABILITY TRACK THAT NEVER GETS REPAIRED, THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. ALSO SERVICE AIR BAG KEEPS COMING ON BUT DEALERSHIP CANNOT DO ANYTHING WHILE THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SO MANY REPAIRS AND SERVICES WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE AS I HAVE THE ACADIA. TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR WAS NOT REACTING THEN THE RPMS WOULD SHOOT UP BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT REACT. I HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH AFTER THAT AND STRUGGLED AT THAT. I MANAGED TO GET TO A GAS STATION. 1 TOW TRUCK, 1 RENTAL CAR AND NOW $1500 TO REPLACE THE "WAVE PLATES" AND "WAVE HOUSING". ADDITIONAL NOTE - THE CAR BROKE DOWN IN AUGUST 2012 AS WELL. IN THAT INCIDENT THE WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED THE DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES EMMITING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.

MY FRIENDS AND I LEFT A STORE AND WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY ROUTE. SPEED LIMIT IS POSTED AS 45 MPH. I WAS IDLING AT THE STOP SIGN WAITING FOR A VEHICLE TO PASS. WHEN IT DID I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I GENTLY PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THAT IS WHEN I FELT THE TRUCK JERK AND THEN THE PEDAL WAS FLOORED!!! I WAS NOT DOING THIS!!!! I WAS IN AMONGST THE TRAFFIC, TRYING TO DODGE OTHERS, AND THEN I TRIED TO TURN MY TRUCK OFF. I COULDN'T DO IT. IT WAS NOT ALLOWING ME TO AND THE SPEED HAD INCREASED DRAMATICALLY!!! I REACHED DOWN AND WAS MESSING WITH THE ACCELERATOR HOPING TO PULL IT UP FROM THE FLOOR. THE ACCELERATOR WAS COMPLETELY PRESSED INTO THE FLOOR AS IF SOMEONE GLUED IT THERE. MY ACADIA'S TRANSMISSION FAILED (THE 3, 5, R WAVE PLATE) WHILE 4 HOURS FROM HOME. IT HAS NOW BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 22 DAYS ... THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT 3 TIMES AND STILL CAN'T "GET IT RIGHT". THIS IS A HUGE MESS THAT GM HAS NOT HANDLED WELL AT ALL. THEY WILL NOT LET THE DEALERSHIP PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN IT. I BOUGHT MY GMC ACADIA IN FEBRUARY AND HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP I KNOW 15+ TIMES. EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. IT STARTED OFF THAT IT WAS THE STABILITY TRACK AND STABILITY CONTROL CENSORS, THEN IT WENT TO BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACE, BYPASSING THE WIRING (BECAUSE GM) TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO BYPASS THE FACTORY WIRING AND BUILD A NEW HARNESS FOR THE WIRING, SEVERAL OTHER THINGS WRONG, AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION!!!! WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!! SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE ACADIA. NOT DEPENDABLE NOR SAFE FOR ME NOR MY FAMILY!!!!! *TR
