There was a recall for gmc premature timing chain engine recall. This recall was complete in 2011 but it did not fix the problem. The timing chain keeps breaking off the cam shaft sensor and needs to be replaced.

The stabilizer/traction control keeps going off and it will stay off.i can turn,hit a bump or start it up and the traction control/stabilizer system is off.i almost had a accident on the freeway in the rain because it turned off out of nowhere and I almost lost control. Also I was going down the road and all of a sudden my vehicle died and I had little control over vehicle. Once it came to stop it would not start again and when attempting it sounded like something was stuck in my fan or something because of the way it rattled and sounded and was rough sounding. Vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed. Upon investigating it was the timing chain kit that had failed suddenly for no apparent reason. Vehicle was well maintained and kept accordance with running policies and practices required and suggested by manufacturer. Still the failing caused engine damage that is well in to the several thousands of dollars and engine must be replaced due to this issue failing and I have noticed several thousand people having this same very issue and rendering them a foot and vehicle less due to the high cost of fixing without any warning or engine light or code suggesting of the timing chain kit failing or about to fail before stranding a person wherever and whenever unexpectedly and suddenly without any warning or check engine light at all. No OEM code to validate the issue either. Manufacturer should be held liable for the exact same issue occuring in so many of the multitude of people experiencing the same exact issue causing financial turmoil and risk of disaster or collision and harm when the timing chain kit fails suddenly. This is a huge and vast problem I have found with multitude of Acadia owners and should be addressed because to not honor a issue of so many experiencing the same issue occuring should be reconciled and corrected at the manufacturer cost due to it being their liability in making the faulty part of device to begin with causing vast financial hardships.

Got code po0008 crank sensor/cam did resurch said timming chain replaced complete chain still noisey changed cam phasers and sensors still making noise it is so frustrating bee going on 3 weeks I'm disabled not easy to work on myself being I'm a master technician and this has really been mind boggling

The contact owns a 2009 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after purchase of the vehicle, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while driving at 45 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. Despite the failure, the contact was able to coast the vehicle to a stop as the vehicle failed to restart after multiple attempts. The contact's husband inspected the engine and had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact's husband replaced the crank shaft position sensor, purge valve, high pressure tank, fuel pump, and battery; however, the failure persisted. The contact then towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it diagnosed with engine failure due to the timing chain, and a cylinder #1 and #5 defect. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle related to the engine. The vehicle remained in possession of the mechanic unrepaired. The failure mileage was 194,726.

1.)What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A.) To start with i went in to the dealership for a timing chain recall they said the work was performed. This was never done all they did was replace ECU from an older car so that the code would not come back (REPLACED WITH A 2002 ECU) to get rid of the timing chain recall code. this code never existed in 2002..Complete negligence these SUV could hurt or kill someone B.)Huge Electrical issue suv stops on its own while driving. Sometimes does not start at all. can not pass emission for the life of it .. new codes all the time i have replaced just about Every sensor and switch there is.. . this is a money pit and death trap.. C.) The Investigation NHTSA should have included the Lambda Frame it's the same design flaw they're trying to fix one problem with an old problem. The ones on these have this fixed tie rods, lateral arms and upper control arms the bushings will wear out eventually and repeat the bouncing up and down rocking back and forth rear end barely staying on the ground it's a very dangerous ride and you see these vehicles on the expressway on a daily basis you look at them for what you know now I get really nervous seeing these vehicles. Arcadia rollovers Call it what you will it's the same problem the needs a total redesign it's defective anyway you look at it. Just looking to how many Roll over there are with this body frame and suspension it's got its own self-contained pit maneuver. I believe GM is aware of these issues that's why they're giving everybody a hard time to fix it they run and say something else. Looks like we're getting back to too big to fail. D.) What makes this vehicle even more unsafe and very dangerous is the fact that the reluctor wheel can slip. This will sundown false DTC codes thinking that problems exist other places spending lots of money an unnecessary work when along GM knew about this problem once again.

I GO THROUGH HEADLIGHTS EVERY 6 MONTHS THIS LAST TIME, MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT GOT REPLACED AND TWO DAYS LATER IT WENT OUT AND THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED. I WENT AND GOT NEW BULB AND IT DID NOT WORK, AFTER INSPECTING THE THE WIRING WE NOTICED IT WAS BURNT UP AND NEED REPLACED, GMC SAID IT'S ON US. WE HAVE SPOKE WITH GMC ABOUT OUR ENGINE BURNING OIL WHICH THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF AND THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO HELP BUT GMC REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING MY CAR SEND A SIGNAL TELLING ME TO TURN OFF THE CAR OR STARTS MISS FIRING EVERY WHICH WAY AND GIVES CODES SAYING I NEED NEW COILS WHICH IS NOT THE CASE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOES OFF SAYING THAT THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE THE CALIBRATION GET OFF, IT TOOK MCDANIEL'S TO FIGURE IT OUT THE OTHER DEALERSHIP BLAMED IT ON ELECTRONICS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID NO LONGER COMES OUT PROPERLY AND NEEDS SOMETHING REPLACED SO THAT IT WILL GO UP ON THE WINDSHIELD.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE LOST POWER DURING RUSH HOUR COMING HOME. LOST AT LEAST 50% POWER, VERY LITTLE ACCELERATION AND QUITE THE CHALLENGE TO MERGE OVER 4 LANES TO GET TO THE SHOLDER OF THE HIGHWAY. CODE WAS CHECKED AND CODE WAS FOR TIMING. MECHANIC PULLED TIMING CHAIN COVER AND FOUND THAT IT WAS STRETCHED. HE TOLD ME THE 3.6 ENGINE WAS WELL KNOWN FOR THIS. TWO FREAKING MONTHS AFTER WE PAID IT OFF. WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER ACADIA AND WILL STAY AWAY FROM ENCAVE AND TRAVERSE AS WELL AS THEY HAVE SAME ENGINE IN MANY. VERY DISCOURAGED THEY WOULD KNOWINGLY ALLOW THIS ISSUE TO GO ON WITHOUT BEING ADDRESSED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE MECHANIC PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE "BLEW UP". THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE SCENE OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.

I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE RADIO. EVERY SINGLE TIME IT RAINS THE SPEAKERS GO OUT. NOTICED THERE WAS WATER IN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ON ALL THE DOORS WHICH ALSO AFFECTED MY WINDOWS FROM GOING UP AND DOWN. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT NOW. WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE, STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, I HIT THE GAS. MY CAR DIDN'T GO. I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF PRESSURE AND IT STARTED TO GO, BUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT JUST KICKED REAL HARD INTO FIRST GEAR. FELT LIKE SOMEONE REAR ENDED ME. EVERY TIME I STOPPED IT KEPT DOING IT. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND APPARENTLY I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND TIMING CHAIN. THE CAR IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD AND I BOUGHT THE CAR 5 YEARS AGO FROM GUNN HONDA. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR!

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 45MPH I RECEIVED A LOW OIL PRESSURE SHUT OFF ENGINE. OIL WAS FINE SO WE TOOK IT TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THERE ARE NO CODES BEING STORED IN THE SYSTEM. EVERYONE IS GUESSING WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT FROM A BAD OIL PUMP OR THE PAN NEEDS TO BE CLEANED. THERE IS A FORUM A BUNCH OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND SPENDING THOUSANDS AND GETTING NOWHERE. SOME HAVE HAD TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. GM SAYS THERE ARE NO BULLETINS AND THEY WILL GIVE ME A 100 $ FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED BY A TECH. JUST TO BE CHECKED IS 250 $ NOT INCLUDING ANY FIXES FOR THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000.

IT WAS RIDING ROUGH AND MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN I ACCELERATED, SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND I GOT SPARK PLUGS AND AN OIL CHANGE-STILL WAS RIDING ROUGH. I WENT BACK AND GOT A CAM SHAFT POSITION REPLACED-STILL NOTHING CHANGED. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WAS AN O2 CENSOR. CHANGED IT AND NOTHING CHANGED. NO ONE COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG OR WHAT THE NOISE WAS. FINALLY ONE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY BC THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. GOT IT TOWED TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND THAT'S WHEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I WAS GETTING QUOTES FOR $2000-$2500. FINALLY ONE PLACE TOLD ME TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL. I CALLED GMC. THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TIMING CHAIN. THEY CONNECTED ME WITH A LOCAL GMC DEALER WHO INFORMED ME AFTER EVALUATING MY VEHICLE THAT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY AND 5000 MILES OVER THE LIMIT. WELL I'M STILL PAYING FOR THIS VEHICLE AND I OWE $5000 ON IT. CLEARLY I WAS SOLD A LEMON BUT WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS NOW?

I AM CLOSE TO POSITIVE THAT ECM HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO SHORTEN OIL CHANGE, TO NOT DEFINE A CHAIN POTENTIAL FAILURE THAT SENDS AN ERROR CODE, AND UPDATE SOFTWARE TO ALLOW FOR MORE "SLOP" IN CLEARANCE SPECS SO THAT CHAIN ISSUES ARE CONCEALED UNTIL A CRITICAL FAILURE OF EQUIPMENT. AT 121K I DROPPED CRADLE DOWN TO REPAIR/REPLACE WAVE PLATE. PLATE WAS GOOD AS NEW. MUST HAVE GOTTEN A "GOOD" PLATE. NOW AT ABOUT 140K I HAVE THE P0017 AND P0008 CODES. ENGINE NOT RESPONDING ACCELERATOR WISE AS BEFORE. I AM GOING BACK TO DEALER AND ASK TO SEE SERVICE RECORD OF WHAT WAS DONE TO ENGINE. I KNOW I WILL JUST BE WASTING MY TIME. TO COVER UP A PROBLEM BY MESSING WITH PARAMETERS ON AN ENGINE TO FOOL A CUSTOMER IS CLOSE TO BEING DISHONEST, AND THAT IS WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE CHAINS. IF ALL ELSE FAILS AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SEND ME AWAY, I WILL PARK THE ACADIA IN THE GARAGE AND DO MY BEST TO REPLACE THE CHAINS AND GEARS WITH THE ENGINE IN VEHICLE. I HAVE NO WAY TO DROP THE ENGINE OUT. I CAN'T AFFORD $4000 FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO DO IT. GM, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL FAN ON YOUR VEHICLES, AND HAVE ONLY OWNED CHEVY'S AND GMC'S SINCE 1965, NEVER OWNED ANY OTHER BRAND, EXCEPT A 1947 JEEP UNIVERSAL THAT I PUT A SMALL BLOCK IN, BUT THIS ACADIA TRANSMISSION/ENGINE ISSUE MIGHT JUST TEST OUR RELATIONSHIP IN THE FUTURE. WHAT I HAVE READ ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THESE CODES ARE POPPING UP ALL OVER THE PLACE, AND GM IS NOT CARING, EVEN THO THEY NOW HAVE A 10 YR/120,000 COVERAGE. I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT THIS ISSUE WILL NEVER BE RESOLVED IN FAVOR OF THE CUSTOMER. DESIGN PROBLEM AND POOR BACK VALVE COVER VENTING. GM, YOU CAN DO THE RIGHT THING HERE.

DEC 2018 MY ACADIA WAS LEFT AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF WHITMORE CHEVROLET IN WEST POINT VA 23181 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. MY VEHICLE RAN WHEN I LEFT IT THERE. OVER A MONTH LATER INCLUDING ILLEGAL ACTIVITY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I GET MY VEHICLE BACK AND IT IS DEAD. I WOULD START MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE AWAY SOMETIME STOPPING SOON OR RANDOMLY ON THE ROAD. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES AND GOES, TOOK TO MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED WITH P0017 CODE. CAM SHAFT PROBLEM, MECHANIC PUT NEW PART ON AND SERVICE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE PROBLEM NOW IS TIMING CHAIN AND THEN GET A NEW ENGINE ON A CAR THAT HAS APPROX 140,000 MILES. THE CAR EXPERIENCES A JITTER WHILE DRIVING AND WON'T ACCELERATE OR LAGS WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED.

BOUGHT THE CAR ON FEB. 28, 2018. FOUND OUT ON JANUARY 23, 2019 THAT IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS NOW THE 2ND GMC ACADIA WE BOUGHT IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS THAT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. WE HAVE NOW SPENT OVER $20K FOR TWO CARS WE CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE A WORKING CAR. THE LAST CAR I BOUGHT WAS A 2010 GMC AND I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE. LATER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINED DIED - THERE WAS NEVER EVER WARNING LIGHTS OR WARNING THAT THERE WAS TROUBLE WITH THE CAR. BOTH CARS HAVE THE 3.6L SIDI VG ENGINE. OUR AUTO PLACE SAID THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING THAT ENGINE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE NEED THAT ENGINE FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CAN NOT BE A COINCIDENCE. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY DON'T CARE.

PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG TURNS ON WITH LITTLE WEIGHT TO NO WEIGH THERE! MC DANIALS IN MARION, OHIO WAS ABLE TO FIND THATBTHEY LOSE CALIBRATION AND NEED RE CALIBRATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS FLUID INSIDE THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 151,000.

I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT ELECTRICAL DEVICES CAN TURN IT ON BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE, I CAN HAVE NOTHING IN THE SEAT AND IT TURNS ON AND DINGS WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS A DISTRACTION. AS FOR THE ENGINE, I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONE WHICH MAKES IT WHERE THE REMOTE START WILL NOT WORK. WHEN WE PULLED THE CODES IT COMES BACK TO THE THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON IT.

FIRST, NOT EVEN 3 WEEKS AFTER I LEASED THE VEHICLE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED TO GO, MY DRIVER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING, MY BACK HATCH WELL I CAN'T EVEN OPEN IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO KEY TO OPEN NOR IS THERE A BUTTON ANYWHERE THE MECHANICS SAID I NEED TO TAKE IT TO AN ELECTRICAL MECHANIC...WONDER HOW MUCH THAT WILL COST?, MY STABILTRAK SYSTEM CONSTANTLY FLASHES. THE ENGINE BURNS UP TOO MUCH OIL EVEN AFTER AN OIL CHANGE WITHIN 3WEEKS I NEED TO PUT OIL, I DO NOT DRIVE FAR NOR ALOT. TO WORK AND BACK. IT WILL COST MORE TO FIX THIS TRUCK THAN WHAT IT IS WORTH NOW I'M STUCK WITH $5,000 LEFT ON A VEHICLE THAT IS A PIECE OF POOP. WHEN I DRIVE THE TRUCK PULLS AS IF THE ENGINE CANNOT GET THE TRUCK GOING. I CAN'T TURN OFF THE TRUCK WHILE PUTTING GAS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WONT TURN OVER ONCE THE GAS HAS BEEN PUT IN AND STARTED. THE MECHANIC SAID ITS THE TRANS EVAP SYSTEM. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW GMC CAN GET AWAY WITH MANUFACTURING VEHICLES LIKE THIS WITH NO CONCERN FOR THE CUSTOMERS.

TAKATA RECALL: I'M HAVING IDLE/STALLING ISSUES WITH MY 2009 GMC ACADIA. CAR CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. FIRST, I HAD MY CAR INSPECTED BY LOCAL LICENSED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE AND CAT CONVERTER ISSUE. I FOLLOWED BY CALL A GMC DEALER AND INFORMING THEM OF MY CAR PROBLEMS. THEY SCHEDULED MY CAR FOR AN INSPECTION SINCE THEY HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR TIMING CHAINS. THEY INSPECTED MY VEHICLE AND INFORMED ME SINCE THE TIMING CHAIN WASN'T MAKING NOISES THEY WOULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT AS A PROBLEM. THEY RELEASED MY CAR WITHOUT FIXING IT AND MY CAR STILL CUTS OFF AND IDLES WHILE DRIVING. THEY ALSO TOLD ME ABOUT MANY OTHER ISSUES FOUND DURING THE DIAGNOSTIC TOTALING OVER $8000 IN REPAIRS. I CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO GMC AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEIR ARE ACTUALLY MANY OTHER ADDITIONAL PARTS WARRANTY'S/COVERAGES THAT THEY HAVE AND MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH. I FIND THIS VERY CONCERNING AS THE GMC DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND SERVICE MY VEHICLE, ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT GMC HAS SECRET ADDITIONAL WANRRANTIES/COVERAGES THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT MY CAR WAS IN THE GMC DEALER SHOP FOR 4 DAYS AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST ME WITH A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE MY CAR WAS BEING INSPECTED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND INDICATED THAT THEY ALSO HAD CAMPAIGNS THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, AND THE TRANSMISSION CUTLET LEAVE PLATE FAILED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

GMC KNOWS OF DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THEY ADDRESSED SOME OF THESE ISSUES IN TSBS AND THE INFORMATION WAS KNOWN BY DEALERS BUT NEVER CONVEYED TO OWNERS THAT DID NOT RECEIVE A TSB. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED NUMEROUS OIL CHANGES, WHICH IF INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND MORE CLOSELY MONITORED, COULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE FIX, BUT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER INFORMED THE OWNER OF POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES OF NOT INCREASING OIL CHANGE FREQUENCY. ACCORDING TO DEALER, GM FORBIDS THEM FROM DISCLOSING SUCH INFORMATION. THESE ENGINES WERE ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A PRESSED ON CRANKSHAFT RELUCTOR THAT COULD SHIFT AND RESULT IN A TOTAL CRANKSHAFT REPLACEMENT. FAILURE OF ANY OF THESE VITAL ENGINE PARTS ALONE OR TOGETHER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION COULD, I BELIEVE, CAUSE AN ENGINE SEIZURE WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES. NON DISCLOSURE BY DEALERS TO ALERT OWNERS WHO COULD THEN DIVEST THEMSELVES OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE THE 120K DEADLINE SET BY GM IS DISHONEST AT BEST. NO TSBS RELATING TO THIS WERE RECEIVED BY OWNER. THERE IS NOW AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CONCERNING THE TIMING CHAIN AND POSSIBLE RELUCTOR BUT GM IS UNWILLING TO ASSIST WITH REPAIRS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS ABOUT 15K BEYOND THEIR ARBITRARY 120K DEADLINE.

THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR HEAT AND A/C DON'T MATCH UP WHEN TURNING THE KNOB AND THE DEFROST DOESN'T WORK 3/4 OF THE TIMES. I GET FLASHES OF LOSS POWER AND MY TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM KEEPS ACTING UP. NOW MY ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ARE FAILING AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT IT IS WITHOUT PAYING $5000 FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSTIC IT AND TAKE IT APART!! WHERE DO I HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY?? I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT ABOUT 70 MPHS ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTING FLASHING. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY THE DRIVERS BESIDE AND BEHIND ME. WHILE HONKING MY HORN AND PUTTING ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. TOWED MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP IT FOR ABOUT 8 DAYS SAYING THEY WERE VERY BEHIND. NOTIFIED THEM THAT MY CAR WAS COMING IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS NEVER TOLD THEY WAS BEHIND. FINALLY ABOUT 7 DAYS LATER THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. THEN ON THE 9 DAY THE SERVICE GUY CALLS ME AND SAYS THEY THINK ITS THE MOTOR BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT TO SEE. POSSIBLE COST WOULD BE ANY WHERE FROM $4,000 TO $7,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL SPECIAL COVERAGE OPEN ON MY CAR SUCH AS TIMING CHAIN , WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL, LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THROTTLE BODY. AFTER READING OTHER GMC CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS I FEEL IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP STATES THEY DON'T KNOW WHATS EXACTLY WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT TILL THEY TAKE OUT MY ENGINE.

CAR STALLS AS I AM TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS, TURNING OR GOING AROUND SIGNIFICANT CURVES IN THE ROAD, WHILE IM IN A ROUND ABOUT ETC. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTS BACK UP AND OFF I GO. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS CAR AND I BOUGHT IT FROM A NON GM DEALER. MY MECHANIC IS AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT IS WRONG BECAUSE A) THERE ARE NO CODES THAT ARE COMING UP AND B) THE STALLING IS VERY SPORADIC, IT WILL DO IT TWICE IN ONE WEEK AND THEN NOT DO IT AGAIN FOR 3 WEEKS. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES. I PULLED THE CARFAX AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID ALL THE WORK ON IT WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION WHILE THEY HAD IT IN FOR SERVICING. ALTHOUGH SHE DIDN'T TELL ME EVERYTHING THAT THEY DID TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE, I DO KNOW THAT THEY WENT AS FAR AS TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD HOPING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE, BUT CLEARLY IT DID NOT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL CARS DUE TO THE FACT THAT WHEN THE CAR STALLS, EVERYTHING LOCKS UP AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ANYTHING.

THIS IS DONE AND AFTER 30 MINUTES WE ARE ABLE TO TAKE CAR TO LOCAL SHOP, SINCE DEALERSHIP IS 30 MINUTES AWAY IN SNOW CONDITIONS. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP IS ON DUE TO POOR ACCELERATION, ICE DEPOSITS AND OIL DEPOSITS IN AIR INLET DUCT. DUE TO ALL THE OIL AND ICE DEPOSITS ALL SPARK PLUGS ARE REPLACED, BUT I WAS TOLD IF I DON'T REPLACE THE VALVE COVER WHICH ARE THE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR, I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE PLUGS ABOUT EVERY 15K TO 20K MILES. I SLOWED DOWN , BUT THE SHAKE , VIBRATION CONTINUED. FINALLY IT DID STRAIGHTEN OUT, AND I GOT HOME. A COUPLE DAYS LATER ON MY WAY TO WORK THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THAN THE SERVICE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY MY DAD WHO IS A MECHANIC, DROVE IT AND IT SHOOK AND VIBRATED SO BAD , HE THOUGHT THE WHEELS WERE FALLING OFF. CAME BACK AND PUT IT IN THE WORKSHOP AND CHECKED THE WHEELS FOR TIGHTNESS, THEY WERE OK. NOTICED A RATHER LARGE COOLANT LEAK ABOVE THE WATER PUMP ,, SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM UNDER INTAKE AREA. CALLED THE DEALER AND SAID WE WERE BRINGING IT BACK ON A TRAILER. ON 1 / 1 / 15 AT ABOUT 9:45 AM DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALER, TOLD THEM AGAIN WHAT THE PROBLEMS WERE AND LEFT IT THERE. ON 1 / 5 / 15 THE DEALER CALLED US AND INDICATED THERE WAS A UPPER RADIATOR HOSE THAT THE CLAMP WAS LOOSE. I TOLD THEM IT WAS NOT AND MY DAD KNOWS WHERE IT WAS FROM. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY DROVE IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. AFTER TELLING ME THAT THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE A FORD DEALER AND DO NOT HAVE THE TOOLS TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. RIGHT AFTER THAT THE GENERAL MANAGER SAYS THAT HE DID NOTICE A PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING , BUT ITS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I SAID THAN YOU PUT YOUR FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE AND TAKE THEM FOR A DRIVE , BECAUSE I WILL NOT PUT MYSELF WITH MY 3, AND 5 YEAR OLD KIDS IN IT. HE SAID HE WILL LOOK AT IT AGAIN TOMORROW. WE PURCHASED A 2009 ACADIA FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER THAT CLAIMS QUALITY IN REGARDS TO THEIR USED VEHICLES. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 6 MONTHS AND THE VEHICLE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND COMPROMISED OTHERS INDIVIDUALS AND MY OWN WELL BEING. FIRST INCIDENT THE CAR WAS IN GEAR BUT WOULD NOT START. WE NEVER FOUND THE REASON THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE BATTERY FULLY CHARGED. NO OTHER ISSUES NOTED. SECOND INCIDENT THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE AGAIN DID NOT START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START. EVENTUALLY CAR JUST STARTED, NO ISSUE WAS UNCOVERED AS THE CULPRIT. THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED OUT OF THE BLUE WHILE IN ROUTE TO RESPOND TO AN EMERGENCY CALL AND HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED. WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY 4 MONTH OLD GRANDSON THE VEHICLE JERKED AFTER REACHING THE SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THEN THE RPM REGISTERED ABOUT 3800 TO 4500 AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A CRAWL ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT HAD DIAGNOSTICS RAN AND IT INDICATED TRANSMISSION CONCERNS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE LIGHT HAD GONE OFF AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING FOUND. MY HUSBAND AND I LEFT AND WHILE IN ROUTE TO ANOTHER CITY THE VEHICLE AGAIN JERKED AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE RPM ONCE AGAIN REGISTERED BETWEEN 3500 AND 4500. WE WERE ABLE TO CRAWL ALONG AT ABOUT 25 MPH AND BARELY MADE IT SAFELY TO A CERTIFIED GMC DEALER WHICH STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY GONE AND WE NEEDED ANOTHER AND THE COST WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $3900. THE DEALER REFUSES TO HONOR OR STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. WE RECENTLY HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER TO ENSURE SAFETY RECALLS WERE TAKEN CARE OF, THE DEALER INDICATING NO CONCERNS AFTER A "PROPOSED" INSPECTION. I TOOK MY CAR TO BE SERVICE ON MANY OCCASION AND THE CAR WAS MAKING A SOUND WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR. I INQUIRED ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON BEFORE MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY RAN OUT. THE GUY THAT WAS SERVICING MY CAR STATED THAT THE MOUNT NEEDED FIXING AND I WAS GIVING A CARD WITH THE PRICE ON IT THAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS $335.WELL NOT LONG AFTER THAT MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ALTHOUGH THE DEAL PAID 60%, IF THE CAR DEALER SHIP HAD BEEN HONEST, THEY HAD TO KNOW THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BUT I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD BE ALL RIGHT. THIS WAS NOT TRUE BECAUSE NOT LONG AFTER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, THE TRANSMISSION WENT AND I HAD TO COME UP WITH THE DIFFERENT. I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND I REALLY NEEDED MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY TRANSPORTATION THAT WAS WORKING. I HAD TO CHARGE THE AMOUNT ON MY CREDIT CARD WHICH HAS REALLY CREATED A FINANCIAL BURDEN. I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT CAR DEALERSHIP DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER, ONLY THE MONEY. SINCE THEY FIXED THE TRANSMISSION I DO NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM WITH THE CAR JUMPING WHEN YOU PULL OFF. THEY TOLD ME I HAD A POWER STEERING LEAK IN THE RACK AND PINION AND IT WOULD COST AROUND $2000 TO REPLACE A SEAL BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO PULL THE WHOLE RACK OFF. HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OKAY FOR A WHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY IT WOULD CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT. AFTER RESEARCHING, I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE OTHER ACADIA OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND A CO2 SENSOR WAS GOING BAD SO I REPLACED IT. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE GMC DEALER TOLD ME 2 OF THE 3 CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE THING TO EXPLODE WHILE I'M DRIVING IT. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE--IT CAN BE ELECTRICAL OR YOU COULD REPLACE JUST ABOUT EVERY PART UNDER THE HOOD AND SEE IF THAT WORKS. CURRENT ISSUE IS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE, APPARENTLY THE "3-5-R WAVEPLATE." FIVE MONTHS PRIOR, MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE TRAVELING OUT OF STATE. THEY EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND WERE STRANDED ON A RURAL HIGHWAY NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN TO A GM DEALERSHIP, "REPAIRS" WERE PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY, AND WE WERE TOLD WE COULD PICK UP OUR CAR. MY WIFE (AGAIN WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR) MADE IT LESS THAN 10 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME ON THE BRIDGE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY....NO WHERE TO EVEN EXIT THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED (AFTER 3+ WEEKS OF DIAGNOSTIC WORK). WE WERE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE FAILURE. ENGINE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN SHIFTING ERRATICALLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. AT TIME OF ENGINE FAILURE/REPLACEMENT, GM DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT ADVISED US THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS/SLIPS WERE "NORMAL" FOR THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION. THEY ADVISED A TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH, WHICH WE AUTHORIZED. SHIFTING REMAINED ABRUPT, SLIPPING CONTINUED, BUT AS WE WERE ADVISED THIS WAS "NORMAL", WE CONTINUED DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT SEEK FURTHER REPAIR. TWO WEEKS AGO, (NOW SIX WEEKS OUT OF WARRANTY), THE SLIPPAGE BECAME DISTINCTLY MORE EVIDENT, VEHICLE AT ONE POINT WOUND NOT CONTINUE FORWARD MOTION THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND HAD TO BE IDLED TO ROADSIDE. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS, WE WERE ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSIS OF 3-5-R WAVEPLATE FAILURE WAS GIVEN. THIS TRANSMISSION WAVEPLATE FAILURE IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGERS TO BE PUT AT SERIOUS RISK FOR INJURY. VARIOUS GM VEHICLES HAVE A KNOWN DEFECT THAT ALLOWS WATER FROM THE SUN ROOF DRAIN TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FUSE BLOCK. THIS DEFECT IS COVERED UNDER SERVICE BULLETIN #08-08-57-003C. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUES THAT ONLY OCCUR DURING HEAVY RAINS AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AFTER THINGS HAVE DRIED OUT SO TO SPEAK. MOST RECENTLY AFTER A HEAVY RAIN, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND WHEN REPLACED WITH A NEW BATTERY, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF EVEN AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT CAN RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE IS TO REMOVE THE ECM FUSE FROM THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BLOCK. INITIALLY NOTICED WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO ANOTHER GEAR SHIFTING WAS HARD. ABOUT A WEEK LATER NOTICED HESITATION IN SHIFTING GEARS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS RATES OF SPEED THEN THE ENGINE WOULD REV ONCE IT SHIFTED INTO GEAR. EVENTUALLY PARKED THE CAR IN DRIVE THEN WENT TO BACK OUT TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE WAVE PLATE AND OTHER PARTS THAT WERE CONTAMINATED. SINCE THIS INCIDENT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT DROVE SMOOTHLY OR SHIFTED GEARS SMOOTHLY. IT ALSO GETS LESS THAN 15 MILES TO THE GALLON DURING MY DAILY COMMUTE NOW WHERE PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION FIX I WOULD GET 19-20. VEHICLE HESITATES AND REVS CONTINUALLY WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING. WHEN I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP STATING THERE WAS STILL AN ISSUE I RECEIVED "WE COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE" AND SENT ON MY WAY. WHEN ACCELERATING, MY CAR SEEMS TO 'SLIP' OR 'STUTTER' BEFORE CLICKING INTO GEAR. THIS HAPPENED IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED IT WHEN I WOULD BRING IT IN TO GET CHECKED. AFTER A FEW YEARS OF OWNING IT I NOW KNOW THAT IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE VERY COMMON WITH THE GMC ACADIA. I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A FAULTY WAVE PLATE. NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS BUT NOW WITH ONLY 50,000 ON MY CAR IT IS REALLY BAD. IT BARELY MADE IT HOME LAST NIGHT. TRANSMISSION IS TOTALLY SLIPPING AND EVEN WHEN JUST DRIVING ALONG AT THE SAME SPEED IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE GAS REVVED LIKE I WAS IN NEUTRAL.
