The contact owned a 2010 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, white and black smoke had leaked into the interior cabin through the air vents. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had caught on fire under the hood. The contact pulled over to the side of the road when the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The local fire department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The source of the fire was unidentified. A police report was filed. The contact sought medical attention for smoke inhalation. The vehicle was towed to a local tow lot via the insurance provider. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The local dealer was not contacted. In addition, the contact related the failure to an unknown NHTSA Campaign that was previously repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Shift to park issue known recall issue in other GMC Acadias ... Vehicle will not lock into park and can NOT remove key anymore electrical still runs in vehicle causing the battery to drain ... Now have to force vehicle to shift into Park as best as possible but still does not fully lock into Park gear anymore ... I was shifting into Park.
Check Engine Light. Faulty timing chain. Rack and pinion repairs needed. Examined by two automotive locations: LaFontaine Automotive GMC of Ann Arbor (Michigan) and Mazur's Total Automotive in Pinckney, MI
The car completely stopped while driving. Upon towing it to the shop, they stated the timing chain cause the engine to not work. This is a safety hazard due to anyone could of gotten hurt or this could have cause an accident due to I was not able to steer or do anything.
Timing chain was replaced on 11/26/2019 and failed again on 02/09/2022. Needs to be a manufacturer defect that gets fixed for free. So dangerous.

The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road for approximately an hour before driving to her residence. The contact never saw a fire while examining the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain to be replaced along with an oil leak. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

IN 2013 GMC SENT A LETTER THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT MAY LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL AND RESULTS IN WATER PUMP FAILURE. THEY SAID DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE IN UNLESS YOU THINK YOU HAVE A LEAK. THEY ALSO SAID IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS WITHIN 10 YRS OF THE DATE YOUR VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED IN SERVICE OR 120,000 MILES THEY WILL COVER REPAIRS. HOWEVER, AT THE END IT SAYS ALL WORK HAS TO BE COMPLETED BY OCTOBER 31, 2014. BY JULY 2019 BEFORE THE 10 YRS AND THE 120,000 MY VEHICLE FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE COOLANT LEAKING ON THE TRANSFER CASE/AXEL FROM THE WATER PUMP CAUSED IT TO FAIL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY DID NOT HONOR REIMBURSEMENT AND MADE THE TERMS OF THEIR WARNING CONFUSING AND DIFFICULT TO PARTICIPATE IN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND BLACK SMOKE SPILLED OUT FROM THE HOOD.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 25 ,2020 AND ON AUGUST 19,2020 IT BROKE DOWN ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHILE I WAS TRANSFERRING FROM ONE HOSPITAL TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL WITH ME I'LL 3 YEAR OLD .I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STARTER IT STILL WOULD NOT CRANK I SENT IT TO BUICK GMC IN MORROW AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE MOTOR WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I PAID MY CAR NOTE UP UNTIL FEBRUARY 5,2021 AND I DON'T HAVE A VEHICLE BECAUSE IT NEEDS A NEW MOTOR.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC BECAUSE I NEED AN INSPECTION STICKER. FOUND OUT TODAY AFTER I TOOK IT TO A GMC DEALER THAT I NOW NEED TO REPLACE MY TIMING CHAIN. I'VE ONLY OWNED THE CAR A YEAR AND A HALF. I BOUGHT AN EXTENDED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT DOUBT ITS COVERED. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL, IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR MORE THAN JUST ME.

CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER PUTTING GAS IN IT. WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN AND HE SAID THE ENGINE WENT OUT OF TIMING CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BE OUT OF TIME, COMBUST, AND DESTROY THE ENGINE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO CHECK THE CODES AND MECHANIC SAYS THAT MY TIMING CHAIN IN STRETCHED. THERE IS ONLY 114,XXX MILES ON IT. IT'S GOING TO COST A LOT TO GET IT FIXED.

THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH A MISS IN THE ENGINE AND TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE TIMING BELT AND BEING OUT OF TIME, SAID IT WOULD BE $5000. SO WE WANTED A SECOND OPINION AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHICH IS A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE SAME THING BUT HE SAID HE COULD JUST REPLACE THE TIMING BELT AND GET IT GOING AND HE REPLACED IT BUT ITS STILL OUT OF TIME AND IT COST $3250. THE GM DEALERSHIP KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THEM AND THAT THE 2009 MODEL WAS COVERED UNDER THE ENGINE RECALL BUT NOT 2010 OR NEWER EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. HAD TO END UP BUYING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND STILL HAVE THE OTHER ONE PARKED IN THE SHED AND CANT DRIVE IT.

I OWN A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CODE THAT WAS BEING THROWN WAS P0008. I HAD TO HAVE THE CHAINS AND ACTUATORS REPLACED IN THE ENGINE. AFTER PAYING FOR THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN, SO THE VEHICLE IS BACK AT THE SHOP AGAIN. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR 2007-2012 HOWEVER, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS ONLY FOR 2007-2009. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT GMC NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF. SEEMS TO ME THAT THE LEMON LAW MAY APPLY AS I AM SEEING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. MAYBE WE SHOULD CONTACT AN ATTORNEY TO GET GMC TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE.

OWNED THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR WITH A 5 YEAR, $20,000 LOAN ATTACHED TO IT. THE CAR RANDOMLY STARTED SMOKING AND ALL KINDS OF WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE STORE (ABOUT A MILE AWAY). I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND WALKED HOME, WENT BACK AFTER A COUPLE HOURS TO LET IT COOL DOWN AND IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS DEEMED MY CAR WITH AROUND 80,000 MILES ON IT HAD A BLOWN ENGINE DUE TO SOMETHING WITH BELT (SAME ISSUE 2009 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR) AND IT WAS GOING TO COST OUT OF MY OWN POCKET $7500 TO REPLACE IT WITH A USED ENGINE WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WON'T HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. IN THE 3 WEEKS IT TOOK US TO DECIDE ON IF IT WAS EVEN POSSIBLY TO COME UP WITH THAT MUCH MONEY, ENGINE PRICES HAD ROSE ANOTHER $500 BECAUSE THEY ARE IN SUCH HOT DEMAND. ENDED UP HAVING TO LET THE BANK REPO IT, RUINING MY CREDIT, NO VEHICLE TO TAKE MY NEWBORN TWINS TO THEIR DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, OR ANYWAY TO GET TO WORK. GMC NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT PROMPTLY RESPONDING TO THIS DEFECT INSTEAD OF TURNING A BLIND EYE. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE DAY A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS FILED.

LATER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINED DIED - THERE WAS NEVER EVER WARNING LIGHTS OR WARNING THAT THERE WAS TROUBLE WITH THE CAR. IT IS A 3.6L SIDI VG ENGINE. IT WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE AS WE HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED THE CAR FOR A YEAR BEFORE IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THE COST WAS WAY TOO HIGH TOO FIX SO WE ENDED UP GIVING IT TO A SALVAGE PLACE AND BOUGHT A 2009 GMC ACADIA. NOT EVEN A YEAR INTO THAT CAR AND IT ALSO NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. SAME ENGINE, A 3.6L SIDI V6 ENGINE. OUR AUTO PLACE SAID THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING THAT ENGINE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE NEED THAT ENGINE FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CAN NOT BE A COINCIDENCE. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY DON'T CARE.

THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TEN TIMES NOW ALL WITHIN THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS. I WILL BE DRIVING AND GO TO MAKE A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE ENGINE DIES. THE BRAKES STILL WORK SO I AM ABLE TO STOP THE CAR, TURN THEY KEY OFF AND RESTART IT. IT HAD HAPPENED TO ME ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE REST OF THE TIMES HAVE BEEN STOP AND GO TURNS IN THE CITY BUT ONCE WAS WHILE TURNING LEFT ONTO ON CMONG TRAFFIC AND MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT AUTO PLACES AND ALL TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I THEN RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SET ME UP WITH A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED. GMC SAID IF IT WAS UNDER 150,000 MILES THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT AND IF IT WAS OVER THEN I WOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR A PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. HOWEVER A DAY AFTER DROPPING OFF MY CAR TO GET FIXED THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND SAID THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX MY CAR AND TO COME GET IT OUT OF THEIR PARKING LOT. WE TOLD GMC ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID IT'S NOT THERE PROBLEM. I'M AT A LOSS AT THIS POINT AS NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE CAR AND IT IS A DEATH TRAP FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE THROTTLE MALFUNCTIONED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY WITHOUT WARNING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 95 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET. BESSETTE MOTORS IN CARRINGTON, NORTH DAKOTA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE PEDAL POSITIONING SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR

AT 60,000.00 THOUSAND MILES MY TIMING CHAINS NEEDED REPLACED (JUST LIKE THE 2009 WHICH HAS A RECALL) THEN AT 79,000 MILES MY WAVE PLATE CRACKED ON MY TRANSMISSION (WHICH THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2009 MODEL FOR THE EXACT SAME THING) MY CAR WAS A EARLY 2010 MODEL AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE 2009 ISSUES ARE PROBLEMS ON MY CAR. I THINK IT'S INSANE THAT GM CAN'T STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK BETTER THAN THIS. THE RECALL'S SHOULD COVER THE 2010 MODELS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED WITH 2009 PARTS!!!

THIS ISSUE WAS COVERED UNDER SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR 2007-2009 MODEL YEARS, BUT THE 2010 IS NOT COVERED. MY UNDERSTANDING OF GMC'S FIX IS THAT NOTHING CHANGED WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE OIL SYSTEM LIFE WAS LOWERED AS TO WHEN AN OIL CHANGE WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE VEHICLE (MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES). I HAVE COMPLETED ALL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES BASED ON THE AUTOMATED PROMPT FROM THE VEHICLE AND STILL HAD TO COMPLETE THIS COSTLY REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS KNOWN ISSUE ALSO COVERED BY THE SPECIAL WARRANTY ON NEWER VEHICLES AND BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES.

A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR BURNED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. ENGINE WAS RUNNING SMOOTH. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ON HWY TO WORK GOT OFF ON CITY STREET AND CAR STARTED SHAKING BAD. PULLED OVER INTO PARKING SPOT AND ENGINE CUT OFF. WOULDN'T RESTART. CALLED TOWING TO OUR REPAIRSHOP. THE FIRST CYLINDER SPARK PLUG WAS BENT RESULTING IN MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO TIMING BELT STRETCH. NEED A NEW ENGINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS BIG PROBLEM WITH GMC ENGINES. BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND IT CURRENTLY HAS 138K MILES. 7K TO REPLACE ENGINE INCLUDING LABOR. WOW MOTHER OF 3 KIDS AND I'M STILL PAYING BIG PAYMENT FOR THE CAR AND INSURANCE.. CAN HAPPEN AT ANY MILEAGE AND WITHOUT WARNING OTHER THAN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TIMING CHAINS STRETCH CAUSING ENGINE TO BE OUT OF SYNC AND EVENTUALLY ENGINE DAMAGE/FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. MINIMUM COST OF REPAIR IS $2500+ AS ENGINE HAS TO BE REMOVED TO DO THE REPAIR. GM HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM AND EVEN ISSUED EXTENDED SPECIAL WARRANTIES TO COVER THE PROBLEM ON 2007-2009 MODELS ONLY EVEN THOUGH 2010 AND NEWER MODELS HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME ENGINE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GMC ACADIA'S AND IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT CAUSED GMC TO EXTEND THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ON 2009 MODEL ACADIA'S TO 120,000 MILE OR 10 YEARS. GMC IS NOT OFFERING TO EXTEND MY WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS EVEN THOUGH I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THEM TO EXTEND 2009 MODEL CARS. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN OCT 2009.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THIS WAS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN ISSUE - A COMMON ISSUE WITH GMC ACADIAS. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR ERROR CODE P0008 IT PULLS UP LOADS OF INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACADIA TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. IN FACT, MODEL YEARS 2007 THROUGH 2009 HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FOR THEM UP TO 120,000 MILES FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS A 2010 AND IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED, AND MY VEHICLE WAS MOST LIKELY MANUFACTURED DURING THE TIME THEY WERE EXPERIENCING TIMING CHAIN ISSUES. MY TIMING CHAIN FAILED AT ONLY 71,000 MILES, WELL BELOW THE RECOMMENDED TIMELINE. I CALLED GMC TO FILE A CLAIM AND SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER THIS UNDER SOME WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS BUT SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME. I HAVE PERFORMED ALL MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS AND STILL EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FIX THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. GMC SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS WHEN THEY ARE AWARE OF ISSUES LIKE THIS.

I WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON AND A SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PART BUT NOWHERE IN MY MANUAL DOES IT STATE THIS. ALSO I CONTACTED GM CORPORATE TO SEE IF I COULD GET HELP IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE SHUT DOWN AND WAS TOLD IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000 MILES NOW I HAVE TO PAY OVER $2000 TO FIX A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THE REAL PROBLEM WAS THE UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN AND LOSS OF CONTROL IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN A RAIN STORM. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE'S QUICK THINKING GOT HER TO SAFETY BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF SHE WOULD HAVE LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION OR AN ON RAMP SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. I ASKED ANOTHER REPAIR CENTER FOR A SECOND OPINION AND WHILE INFORMING THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN OF HAVING A TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE (WITHOUT PROVIDING MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE), THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN GUESSED THAT I HAD A GMC ACADIA AS THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THEM. I CHECKED MY WARRANTIES AS I CURRENTLY HAVE 103,000 MILES. NONE OF MY ACTIVE WARRANTIES COVER IT. I CALLED GMC DIRECTLY AND WAS INFORMED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THEY ARE AWARE THIS IS AN ISSUE BUT IT HAS NOT REACHED A LEVEL TO WHICH GMC WILL EXTEND ANY TYPE OF SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR VEHICLES WHEN THIS FAILS. SINCE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FIX, I AM STUCK WITH DECIDING IF I SHOULD GO IN DEBT FIXING A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE OR RISKING IT AND DRIVING IT UNTIL IT FAILS, POTENTIALLY LEAVING MYSELF AT RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT WAS ADDRESSED IN 2007 AND 2009 MODELS BUT HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED YET FOR THE 2010 MODEL.

AT 80,000 MILES, AFTER PULLING OUT OF PARKING, WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES THE CAR STARTED MAKING RUMBLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND LURCHED FORWARD DESPITE PRESSING ON BRAKES TO STOP. PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT, WHILE CONTINUING TO FIGHT LURCHING OF VEHICLE AND TURNED CAR OFF TO CHECK ENGINE OIL, TRANSMISSION OIL, AND POWER STEERING OIL LEVELS. ALL WERE FINE. WHEN ATTEMPTED RESTART OF VEHICLE, LOUD RUMBLING NOISE FROM ENGINE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLICKERED AND THE CAR FAILED TO START. REQUIRED A TOW HOME FROM 100 MILES AWAY AND $400. HOOKED UP OBD, AND RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING FAULTS P0008, P0303, P0305, P0017, P0300, P0301. AFTER RESEARCHING ON-LINE, COMMON FAULTS FOR TIMING CHAIN ISSUE ESTIMATE $3-4 THOUSAND REPAIR. ALSO, FOUND 2007-2009 ACADIA RECEIVED EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, 2010 NOT COVERED DESPITE FINDING APPROXIMATELY 15 IDENTICAL 2010 GMC ACADIA ON NHTSA SITE. I WILL BE CALLING DEALERSHIP FIRST WORKDAY, HOWEVER EXPECT TO BE TOLD TIMING CHAIN ISSUE BASED ON CODES AND THAT GMC WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR SINCE I AM OUTSIDE OF THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY, DESPITE LESS THAN THEIR 100,000 MILE COVERAGE.

DRIVE BACK HOME SOUND REMAINED THE SAME AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. PULLED CODES ONCE AGAIN AND DIFFERENT SET CAME UP WITH P0008, P0016, AND P0017 SIGNIFYING TIMING ISSUES WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE TIMING CHAIN STRETCH. I THINK I MIGHT BE IN FOR AN EXPENSIVE FIX BUT MOST I WANT THIS REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER TO MAYBE BE THE LAST STRAW TO INCLUDE MY YEAR VEHICLE RECALL. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2007-2009 MODELS WERE THE CAR'S COMPUTER ALERTING THE ENGINE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED TOO LATE AND DIRTY OIL WAS RESTRICTED FROM GOING TO LUBRICATE THE TIMING CHAINS AND RESULTED IN THE TIMING CHAINS STRETCHING AND WEARING PREMATURELY. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY COVERAGE FOR THE 2010 MODELS. SAME PROBLEM IN THE 2007-2009 MODELS IS COVERED.

THIS TIME, WHILE STILL MISSING, THE VEHICLE PUT OUT A DENSE FOG OF WHITE SMOKE THAT SMELLED OF GASOLINE. THANKFULLY NO ONE LITE A MATCH. I USED MY OBD II CODE READER TO GET FAILURE CODES P0087 AND P0089 INDICATING LOW FUEL RAIL PRESSURE AND INJECTOR ISSUES. SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH ON-LINE LED ME TO TSB PIP4924D (NHTSA# 100419330). I NOW AM OF THE OPINION THAT THE ISSUE IS LIKELY A FUEL INJECTOR THAT IS STUCK OPEN LIKELY DUE TO A FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL LINE THAT IS SHORTING TO GROUND DUE TO BAD MANUFACTURER DESIGN OR IMPROPER MAINTENANCE BY DEALERS FIXING OTHER ISSUES. I VIEW THIS ISSUE AS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. I CAN THINK OF ALL SORTS OF SCENARIOS WHERE THIS COULD CAUSE DANGER TO THE VEHICLE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. A LITTLE ABOUT ME ... I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND THAT ALL OF THE CARS BUILT IN 2007, 2008, AND 2009 WERE RECALLED AND THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO COVER THIS PROBLEM.
