I received a letter in 2022 regarding an airbag defect in my 2014 GMC Acadia which stated that they would call me when it is my turn to replace it. They airbag light or notification did not appear until 2024 which I called GMC to report it and schedule an service appointment. I was told that there was "NO DEFECT OR RECALL FOR AIRBAGS IN MY MODEL CAR" even after I explained the letter. I was then told I would have to pay 350 for it to be diagnosed then an additional costs for servicing. We continued to drive it as we do not have other options in HI. The airbag service light reappeared on [XXX] for 2 days and we are concerned why, where, how and who will take our complaint/life seriously? I have called GM multiple times and the local dealership. GM Motors has airbags and are currenlty fixing vehicles and has not included my vehicle in any current priority group. The local dealer tried to get my vehicle included in this current round and was denied despite my vehicle being in Louisiana where it is very hot and humid. Both of these are risk factors causing the explosion of the inflator. I am disabled and my family needs my vehicle to take me to appointments because we bring my walker and O2 tank and now I have a $54,000 vehicle that they are all too afraid to drive. My daughter is short and has to sit right at the steering wheel. There are newer vehicles than mine on the priority list. This is ridiculous and dangerous. See priority list below.

Aug 17, 2024

I want to register a complaint regarding Safety recall N232404980. I was notified on June 23rd 2023 that my vehicle was included in this recall. It's now more than 1 year later and the recall is still incomplete. I've made several attempts to have the recall addressed including scheduling a service appt on Aug 12th 2024 (at Fox Chevrolet in Caledonia MI).  While at this appointment I was told directly that they had the parts but couldn't do the repair because my vehicle status is "Incomplete. Remedy not available". I also contacted GM customer service under their ticket number [XXX]. My understanding is that if the inflator is defective that shrapnel can be thrown in the drivers face in a collision where the airbag deploys.  This could cause injury or death. It's not reasonable to expect a safety system to injure you nor is it reasonable to expect someone to park the vehicle for more than a year. GMC should, at a minimum, offer to disable the drivers side airbag until a remedy is available. I realize there are almost 1 million vehicles involved in this recall and in April of 2024 only 3500 vehicles had been remedied. At this rate it will take about 140 years for GMC to address this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Aug 13, 2024

There has been a recall of this part for over a year now, and they still have not fixed it. This could lead to injury and death, and this is ridiculous that it has not been taken care of yet. They have to have airbags available or they would not be able to make new vehicles and sell them. Someone needs to do something about this before more people are killed. I, for one, cannot afford to go out and buy a new car so that I do not drive the one that I have. I am sure that this is the case for many people, and GM has a responsibility to fix this in a timely manner.

Aug 13, 2024

I am checking to see when this ( Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available ) GM Program # N232404980 Status Incomplete. Remedy not available NHTSA 23V334 Date Issued: 2023-05-10 Description General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014-2017 model year Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. In these vehicles, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in inflator rupture during deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Safety Risk Description An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Repair Description Dealers will replace the front-driver airbag module. When Can I get this fix ?

GM has not yet fixed the driver's side air bag problem, by replacing it per GM Safety Recall # N232404980. We purchased this vehicle from Folsom Buick GMC, 12640 Auto Mall Cir., Folsom, CA 95630. It had 7,000 miles on it when purchased in 2014. The mileage now is 180,236., & it is TEN YEARS LATER! The below dealers have completed numerous work orders on this vehicle over the last 10 years except for #4 because my wife & I recently moved to Arizona. 1. Folsom Buick GMC, Folsom, CA PH: 916-400-2884. 2. Reliable Buick GMC, 400 Automall Dr., Roseville, CA. PH: 916-783-5233. 3. Cal Worthington Chevrolet, 350 Automall Dr., Roseville. PH: 916-945-9142. 4. Henry Brown Buick GMC, 1550 E. Drivers Way, Gilbert, AZ. PH: 480-630-3917. Without exception, each one of these dealers said that they cannot fix it because General Motors has not supplied the part(s) to remedy the problem. Per news reports over a decade +/- , this brand of defective driver's air bag can, and has, caused fatal injuries to drivers involved in accidents that caused the air bag to deploy. I would appreciate it very much if the NHTSA can, and will, cause (force) General Motors to replace this defective item, or supply a replacement vehicle that will not kill the driver should he/she be involved in an accident. Thank you. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Nothing has happened yet, however this recall has been known for almost a year and GM is not working to resolve the issue. They only state that there is no ETA on the remedy. The agent also lied to me about when the recall was issued. He told me February of 2024 and my letter was sent and dated June 2023.

Our airbags have been recalled since May 2023. There is no remedy available. I requested GMC to buyback the vehicle, and they denied. They said they have no solution for me.

Mar 15, 2024

In March 2024 I received a letter from GM saying "that parts are now available to repair your vehicle" relating to the 2023 airbag recall. However, the local GM dealer advised me that while it placed an order for these parts 11 days ago, it still has not received the parts and told me that GM has provided no "ETA" for when these parts would be received. GM has failed to replace the airbag component(s) within a reasonable period of time and as of this writing I have no idea when the parts will truly be available. As a result, our family continues to be at risk from a potentially exploding airbag.

Received a safety recall notice for my 2014 Acadia due to a faulty airbag in June 2023 and GMC still hasn't provided a fix. The noticed states- the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in inflator rupture during deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. It has been almost a year since the notice was mailed and posted and this is not a matter that has been corrected in a timely matter.

Feb 14, 2024

This is regarding a safety recall and no parts being available at this time. I have contacted GM and the Bergstrom dealership multiple times without receiving answers. The original letter I received was from 6/2023. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done - GM should have to provide parts within a timely manner - 8 months and counting is far from acceptable when the letter states "may cause injury or death".

There has been a recall on my vehicle for 9 months and there is still not a resolution from GM. I have called every dealer near me to try and have this recall fixed as it is a major safety hazard. I could be seriously injured or killed if this is not fixed. GM says that do not yet have a resolution and this isn’t okay!

I took my 2014 GMC Acadia into the dealership I purchased it at because my airbag light was on. This was before the recall. I was told at that time that nothing was wrong and and I probably hit a bump and juggled something loose. I paid $190 for that. Now my vehicle is in the shop and I can no longer operate it or sell it because it is deemed unsafe due to this recall. I contacted GMC and there is no remedy for this. It has been 8 months. This is not timely. They would not offer a replacement, refund or a loaner vehicle. I recorded this call and received a case number. I believe this is against federal law. I then contracted the dealership I purchased the vehicle through and they will not provide a rental or repair or replace my vehicle either. N fact, they were trying to get me to do $4,000 in repairs. This may fall under the lemon law and I contacted an attorney. Some people have been without vehicles 8 months now since this recall occurred. This is absurd. I had one vehicle that now I cannot use. I need to be made whole.I have 5 children. Who is responsible? I will not stop until I get compensated. There are a total of 6 recalls out on my car. Only one has been closed. The seatbelt. The other recalls could cause major damage to expensive components like the engine and transmission. The EUC was under recall and was never fixed in my vehicle also. I found this out through a search on kbb.com. This may have in turn caused more out of pocket expenses

The air bags safety recall has been out since May and not even an ounce of new information has come out with any updates on when we will be seeing new airbags, it’s very unsafe for drivers to be driving these vehicles and possibly have a fender bender and die because the airbag was faulty. We want an update it should be illegal for any of us to have to wait this long without even an update on a timeline of when the bags will be available because most of everyone who is going to get a new vehicle/trade in is being screwed because of the recall. GMC has had multiple recalls within the last couple of years and I wish I would have known that before but that’s in the past. PLEASE protect us and get them in gear or atleast hire them a marketing team t help with updates.

With the number of deaths and injuries reported due to the airbag malfunction, GM has done little to remedy this issue. At the time of the 5/10/23 notification of the airbag recall, my vehicle was "grounded" out of a concern for my safety. Since six months has passed since the recall was initiated, GM has appeared to have assessed the situation and decided that the price of one life will cost them less than the cost of one replaced airbag.

Passenger Airbag indicator light stays "On" at all times(with or without a seated front passenger) Indicating that "Passenger Airbag is " OFF". Concern that the Airbag System is not functioning properly, thus exposing the front seat passenger to injury in the event of an accident. YES. On 02/24/2023 the vehicle was inspected by an independent service center. Note: a copy of the report/findings is available. The tech determined that two conditions existed; Codes B0023 and B0085. Only my independent service center has inspected/tested the vehicle. On 11/24/2023 I contacted my GMC Dealer to discuss the issue. I was informed of my options. It is my intention to schedule an appointment ASAP. The problem began in January 2023 with the indicator lamp coming on randomly.

There is an open safety recall and GM is unable to fix it. Because of this recall my vehicle is not safe to drive, no dealer or private seller wants to buy or give fair market value for a vehicle with a safety recall that can’t be fixed. I have seen the resale value drop from $12K to less than $2K since the recall. I should not be forced to drive an unsafe vehicle for an unknown amount of time. This needs to have a remedy.

Safety recall N232404980 was issued on my vehicle on May 10, 2023. As of today, October 9, 2023, GMC is still not able to make the repair for the safety recall, which as stated, can result in serious injury or death if the airbag deploys. It has also rendered my vehicle almost worthless. I feel like 5 months is way too long to wait for a safety recall such as this. This is not timely.

I received a recall for my vehicle months ago due to an airbag issue. The recall states there may be metal fragments in my airbag. This makes the car unsafe to drive. GMC still has no estimated time frame for when the parts will be available. I can’t afford to go out and buy another car while this one just sits. I don’t know how I’m getting my child to and from school starting the day after tomorrow. GMC will not offer a courtesy car and will not buy back the vehicle. This is unacceptable that they just expect me to drive this vehicle knowing there is a chance the safety equipment could kill the occupants of the vehicle.

I'm concerned that if I'm in an accident and the driver airbag inflates metal fragments will pass through the airbag and into the interior of my vehicle and possibly kill me or my passengers. I've called a GMC dealer and they can't do anything because the parts aren't available at this time to repair. I called GMC customer assistance and they said there's nothing they can do at this time. I called State Farm, my insurance agency, and they said there's nothing they can do because I haven't been in an accident. I'm not satisfied with this outcome. I need my car to commute to work. I feel someone is responsible to do something for example cover the cost of a rental car.

Recall on Air bag system in 2014 GMC Acadia. My safety and my children safety is at risk every time we ride in vehicle. I have a warning light illuminating the airbag needs repair. When i purchased this vehicle it wasn't any issue to the system. I'm paying insurance on a vehicle that hasn't found a remedy for the issue and I cant afford to go without transportation. There isn't a time limit on when an incident can happen but as of now this recall is an issue and if it goes without remedy I will need new/other affordable recall free transportation.

Air bag light is on constantly. Unknown if this affects the airbag in terms of deployment during an accident or if malfunction is the problem

May 20, 2022

My air bag service light is on when a passenger sits in it. Looking at others complaints this is a normal thing for GMC 2014 Acadia. I am wondering why a recall has not been done. I just bought this car 3 months ago and they are quoting me $600, stating it is not under recall list as it is not my curtain side air bag. Looking at others complaints- they have to have it repaired many times. This should be a recall!

May 4, 2022

Thinking it’s possibly the front passenger air bag isn’t working properly. The Air Bag light will go on and off for no apparent reason while someone is or isn’t in the seat. Makes me scared for anyone who is to sit in the front passenger seat; knowing that there’s possibly a danger issue.

Apr 19, 2022

Service Airbag light is on. Diagnostic code states it’s the wiring harness under the passenger seat causing an AMP draw. Mechanic told me there is a safety recall but I’m not seeing one for this issue, however I do see a lot of other complaints for this same issue. This is a safety issue and should be addressed.

Apr 10, 2022 Crash

I was involved in an accident on 03/31/2022 I was only passenger. Going about 35 mph hit a parked vehicle on passenger side of vehicle. Side air bags employed. But front air bags did not. I did get a concussion and left with scar from embrasion above right eyebrow from hitting steering wheel. Why did not the front air bag go out?

Apr 7, 2022

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring in the seat was above the loophole. The vehicle was repaired. Twice in the past six months, the “Service Air Bag” warning light has come on. The first time, the wiring under the front passenger had to be resodered. Last week, the same warning came back on, and the wiring under both front seats had to be resodered. I feel this is a safety issue, and a design failure in this year and model car.

Jan 11, 2022

Service airbag light has been on since I’ve had the car. It was not covered by warranty (even though it is important?) in order to fix it I was quoted over $1000 which is ridiculous as I only had it a month before that and traction control became a issue. Warranty covered the traction but not the airbags.

Oct 6, 2021

I purchased my 2014 GMC Acadia Denali July 29th, 2021. It has been back to the dealer five times, with repairs not being completed. Within weeks of purchasing it, the Service Air Bag light came on, and won't go off. The low tire light came on. The serpentine belt broke and had to be replaced, and the power steering pump started making horrendous noises and leaking fluid. I bought an expensive service contract, and of course these repairs are not covered. I also had them repair tires twice, and ended up having to replace the two front tires, after being told there was nothing wrong with them, except one had a screw. They also said that tire rotation was causing the lights to go off, and wasn't reset, and supposedly they reset it to reflect where the tires are on the vehicle in relation to the TPMS's. Well, two tires lost air constantly, and there were numerous leaks. I finally took the vehicle to a real tire store for tire replacement. The estimate for the driver's side airbag system replacement is $1400 pre-tax, and the power steering pump replacement is $1100, pre-tax. So within two months, I've had nothing but trouble; spent $380 on two new tires, and will have the cost of these repairs on top of the extra $2200 I spent on a service contract. The vehicle is beautiful, and seemingly was well-maintained, but it immediately began breaking down. I've had very limited use of it since July 29th when I bought it. (it's now October 6th, 2021). I have a meeting with the owner of the dealership tomorrow, October 7th, at the suggestion of the dealership's repair manager, as well as the salesman.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while her son was driving 40 mph, the vehicle struck a curb and all the air bags deployed. The contact's son did not sustain any injuries. Air Bag Service code shows up. It can be removed briefly by moving the seat back and forth. I did some research and this is similar to the recalls for older years previously issued with the wiring harness causing the air bags to malfunction. This is extremely dangerous and is well known on many car complaint sites. Why has nothing been done? Thank you.

WE PAID THE $450.00 AND 7 DAYS LATER THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" CAME ON AGAIN. WE ARE TAKING IT BACK TOMORROW. THIS ISSUE, TO ME, IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK BECAUSE OF THIS NOT BEING FIXED CORRECTLY.... COULD CAUSE A DEATH. THIS BEGAN IN LATE 2019. IT COMES ON AT START UP, OR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT COMES ON ANYTIME AND HAS STAYED ON AND UNABLE TO CLEAR IT UNTIL WE FIGURED OUT TO MOVE SEAT AND IT TURNS ITSELF OFF, SOMETIMES.

SO WHEN I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS NOW AND THIS MORNING WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT AND WARNING DISPLAY CAME IN Y. I HAVE ATTEMPTED EVERYTHING TO HAVE IT GO OFF THAT WAS RECOMMENDED BY OTHER ACADIA OWNERS. NOTHING HAD WORKED ...I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING AND FEEL THAT BECAUSE TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM. I DO NOT THINK THAT I ADD A SINGLE MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER SHOULD BE OUT 590 TO 600 DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MALFUNCTION THAT GM CANNOT GET RIGHT. PERIOD IS IN THE PRIOR VEHICLES. *TR

AFTER START UP (WHILE DRIVING OR WITH VEHICLE AT REST) SERVICE AIRBAG NOTIFICATION POPS UP AND REMAINS ON DASH CENTER NOTIFICATION AREA ALONG WITH AIRBAG SYSTEM LIGHT ON DASH. DEALER WANTS OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY SPECIAL COVERAGE. THIS TYPE OF VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE SHOULDN'T BE LIMITED BY A 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY. OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER CLAIMS THAT THE SYSTEM FAULT WILL NOT PREVENT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, BUT I WOULDN'T TRUST THAT GIRL ON THE PHONE TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE HER OWN WIPER BLADES, LET ALONE EXPLAIN THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. GMC NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING AT ALARMING RATES WITH THEIR 2014 GMC ACADIAS. THIS IS NOT LIMITED ONLY TO THE 2013 AND OLDER GMC ACADIAS. *TR

FIRST, 2 DAYS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE FRONT CAMERA NEEDED SERVICE AND THE SIDE WARNINGS STOPPED. THEN THE SEAT HEATERS QUIT. THE FOBS BOTH QUIT WORKING, WOULD. IT PROPERLY UNLOCK THE DOORS. WE GOT AN AIRBAG NEEDS SERVICE WARNING. A CHECK GAGES WARNING. A SERVICE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING. FINALLY, THE ENGINE LOCKS UP AND WON'T START, TURN OVER, OR ANYTHING. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, THE CAR STARTS. THEN IT GOES THROUGH THE WHOLE CYCLE AGAIN OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS TIL IT DOESN'T START AGAIN AND LEAVES US STRANDED. AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME, THE MCDANIEL GMC SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHANGED OUT THE BATTERY AND BELIEVED THAT WOULD FIX IT. WE PAID $190 FOR THAT. IT DIDN'T WORK. IT WENT THROUGH THE SAME CYCLE AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. NOW THEY EXPECT US TO PAY TO HAVE HE MODULE FIXED, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR IT WHEN HEY SOLD IT TO US.

I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE WITHOUT GETTING HIT. TURNED OFF THE CAR (45 MINS) AS I WAS WAITING FOR MY SPOUSE AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, IT STARTED WITHOUT AN ISSUE. THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON A FEW TIMES AND THEN IT TURNS OFF ON ITS OWN. THE CAR HAS SHUT DOWN A FEW TIMES WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY - TURNING FROM A STOP OR IN DRIVE-THRU. MY "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT AND WARNING CAME ON AND WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED IT IS THE WIRING UNDER MY DRIVERS SEAT CAUSING THE WARNING LIGHT. THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN I TURNED MY CAR ON AND WE HAVE SINCE DISCOVERED THE LIGHT WILL GO ON AND OFF IF I MOVE MY DRIVERS SEAT FORWARD AND BACK, BUT THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX AS THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON IN THE SEAT POSITION I NEED TO KEEP IT IN FOR DRIVING. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALLED 2008-2013 GMC ACADIA. MINE IS A 2014 AND NOT A PART OF THE OFFICIAL RECALL, BUT CLEARLY THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED AT THE EXPENSE OF GM.

THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND POSSIBLE DEATH UPON IMPACT ISSUE IF AIRBAG DOESNT GO OFF DUE TO GMC'S NEGLIGENCE IN DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE PREVIOUS MODELS HAD. GMC COULD FACE LAWSUITS IF SOMEONE IS KILLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE ON THIS YEAR ACADIA. ITS APPROX $500 TO FIX AND IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM ACROSS MANY OWNED ACADIAS. ON SATURDAY EVENING AUGUST 3, 2019 MY WIFE, WHO WAS DRIVING OUR 2014 GMC ACADIA, REPORTED TO ME THAT A RED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT AND THE MESSAGE "SERVICE AIR BAG" CAME ON AND REMAINED ON WHILE DRIVING. ON SUNDAY AUGUST 4, THE WARNING LIGHT AND MESSAGE WENT OFF DURING THE DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BUT LATER CAME ON WHEN MY WIFE DROVE THE VEHICLE DURING THE EVENING. ON MONDAY AUGUST 5 WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE ACADIA, BOTH THE WARNING LIGHT AND MESSAGE "SERVICE AIR BAG" CAME ON AND STAYED ON WHILE DRIVING. ON MONDAY AUGUST 5 I DROVE THE ACADIA TO A GM DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS IT OPENED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WERE TWO DIAGNOSIS CODES FOR TWO SEPARATE FAILURES RELATING TO THE AIR BAGS. THE FIRST WAS CODE B0022 (WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS RELATED TO A WIRING FAILURE). THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THIS FAILURE CODE OF B0022 WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY PURSUANT TO GM SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT NUMBER 15804. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE SECOND DIAGNOSIS CODE WAS B0058 (WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS A FAILED SENSOR). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS NEEDED TO BE FIXED IN ORDER FOR THE AIRBAGS TO WORK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID, HOWEVER, THAT REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ADJUSTMENT 15804. THE DEALERSHIP DID OFFER A DISCOUNTED CHARGE FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE FAILED SENSOR AND AS OF THIS WRITING THE VEHICLE REMAINS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE ALL REPAIRS NECESSARY FOR THE AIR BAGS TO WORK. I HAVE ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP OF MY INTENTION TO REPORT THE SENSOR FAILURE ISSUE TO NTSB SO THAT NTSB AND GM ARE AWARE OF IT. I HAVE ALSO REPORTED THE ABOVE TO GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND AM AWAITING A RETURN CALL FROM A "SENIOR ADVISOR". I HAVE ALSO REQUESTED THAT GM COVER ALL COSTS RELATING TO THE SENSOR FAILURE AS WELL AS THE WIRING FAILURE AS I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT BOTH RELATE TO THE FAILURE OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM.

THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO FIND A "BULLETIN" FROM GMC ADVISING TECHNICIANS TO CORRECT PROBLEM BY SOLDERING SOME ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SUBSTANTIAL DESIGN FLAW AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR A MISSION CRITICAL SYSTEM WHERE RELIABILITY IS PARAMOUNT. THIS PART DOES NOT ROTATE, IT IS NOT SUBJECT TO ANY UNKNOWN WEAR AND TEAR, THERE ARE NO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ACTIONS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN APRIL 2017, BUT A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I STARTED HAVING A LIGHT ON IN THE DASH SAYING "SERVICE AIR BAG". I'VE TRIED IGNORING IT & HOPING THAT THERE WOULD EVENTUALLY BE A RECALL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD A WARRANTY, BUT WE ARE ABOUT TO TAKE IT IN TO GET IT SERVICED. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET I AM FINDING THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH ACADIAS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE & HAVE HAD TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE & PAY TO GET IT SERVICED. I'VE ALSO READ WHERE THERE WERE SOME ACCIDENTS WHERE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MANY GMC MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT IT WAS FOR YEAR MODELS PREVIOUS TO MINE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE YEAR BEFORE MINE). I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS THE CHEVROLET TRAVERSE (WHICH IS THE EXACT SAME VEHICLE AS MINE, JUST WITH THE CHEVROLET NAME) & SHE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING. IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? PLEASE RESEARCH THIS. IT IS NOT COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM! THIS LIGHT COMES ON AT ALL TIMES AS SOON AS YOU TURN ON THE CAR.
