I have been trying to get this recall done for 1 year. I have placed 3 calls over this time and they say the part is on back order. This is dangerous as it is a recall on the driver airbag. A year is too long to wait. Please advise on what can be done. Dealership: GMC Thompson Raleigh, NC

This vehicle has a recall dated back to May of 2023. I have been trying to get the airbag for this recall replaced since then from the GMC dealership we purchased the vehicle from to no avail. I have been on the wait/call list since the recall date and still haven’t heard that my part is ready to be replaced. The airbags on our GMC Sierra were replaced so I do not understand why the long wait on the Acadia. I worry that if we do get into an accident, we will be badly hurt or killed if the airbags go off. The time frame to get this remedied is unacceptable.

I was curious about recalls because I totaled my 15 Acadia SLT2 and when I hit the impact didn’t deploy airbags and I had no idea until after my accident that they were recalled!!! This incident totaled my Acadia caused my face to be slammed into my steering wheel, cutting me in 2 places and shattering my eye glasses. I now have a scar that looks like a 2nd chin from my impact to hitting the steering column! What should I do? I wasn’t or hadn’t received anything from GMC about this recall until recently and damage has already been done and I’m at a loss of tremendous amounts because my air bags could have saved $300+ glasses and doctors appointments etc…

My vehicle is involved in GM safety recall N232404980. I received a letter dated June 2023 from GMC informing me of the recall. On 3/6/24, I contacted GMC to inquire when I could expect to have my vehicle repaired. No timeline could be provided. I sent and email to NHTSA with my concern over the time lapse in the vehicle repair. In an email from NHTSA, I was given a GMC phone number to call to get a timeline for the repair. GMC is unable to provide me with a timeline. I think I have waited long enough and have driven a dangerous vehicle too long. Why can I not at least get some idea of how much longer I will have to wait. I understand that I can receive serious injury or even die from this problem. I would like my vehicle repaired soon.

Mar 6, 2024

The airbag warning light came on, and the console message "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" was displayed. The drivers seat side airbag was disabled. The vehicle is a 2015 GMC Acadia with 66,590 miles when this happened. A TSB for this exact issue was The charge for the repair is dated 04/07/2015, but I was never notified about an existing issue that could disable an airbag. I was charge $632.82 for a labor-only repair (no parts are necessary) to resolder the wires in a connector. This should have been inspected/repaired years ago under warranty, after GM knew this condition could eventually disable an airbag.

I am writing a complaint in reference to the already issued recall number 23v334, for the acadia's and their airbags. It states that if the remedy is not taken care of or whatever the wording about a timely manner, to reach out and this recall was issued in May after already being aware for some time, and now we are approaching the one-year Mark and they still have absolutely no remedy available for the Acadia and they are Slow Rolling each model out to save money. I am literally driving around with a ticking time bomb in front of my face with the potential to kill me according to its own wording and according to the own manufacturer reading back the identical wording while they're telling you that they have no option available there is no new airbag that they have worked on in the 8 plus months since recall, and there's literally nothing I can do to ensure my safety so I am officially lodging another complaint for the safety of this already known issue that is not been remedy and whereas there appears to be no active and serious engagement and producing something. This is completely unacceptable and something needs to be done about it as there are plenty of people out here with the same potential Hazard right in front of them each and every day they're entering this vehicle.

GM has a recall on my vehicle since May. The recall states possible death to vehicle occupants. I have called weekly and they continue to tell me a remedy will be available soon, last week they even told me one was available which turned out to be false. The fact that GM has yet to handle this recall, and continue to force myself and my family to drive a dangerous vehicle around, is absolutely ridiculous. They refuse to give me a loaner vehicle or help with any info. Please help.

since this recall, in the last month my car now is telling me air bags need to be serviced. I am scared to drive in fear i get hit and the shards will erupt. This is a ticking time bomb. I get told by GMC parts are not available, then i get told they don't know what the fix is; Which one is it. i have asked them to give me a substantial Owners Loyalty compensation so i can get a new vehicle and they keep dragging their feet. I am not the only person in this but this is [XXX] right scary. Give us 7500K as compensation towards a new GM or Chevy vehicle. i need answers. i have spoken to them 9 times and have documented each call. this is over the last 5 -6 weeks. I am filing a complaint for the Takata air bag replacement. The recall was issued in May, 2023. It is now October and GM does not have a date when they can fix it. 5 months to come up with a repair parts for a airbag that could kill my family seems a bit to long. They will not offer a loaner car, special rebate, etc. GM just expects us to drive around with a possible grenade right in front of our chest.

Recall Number: 23V334000. GMC Acadia General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The driver's air bag inflator may explode during deployment, due to a manufacturing defect. Recall consequence An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. Recall action. Dealers will replace the driver's air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 26, 2023. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232404980. I have called and spoke with GMC in Gurnee Illinois and was told "there is no remedy for this recall". I will be driving upwards of 11 hours and feel it is unsafe and unreasonable for them to not change something that could be potentially deadly.

GMC is refusing to do anything and they insist that it’s safe for me to continue driving my car when they know that the driver side airbag is unsafe. They said it will get fixed whenever they get the parts and just continue driving it until then.

No airbags deployed in the event of an accident. As a result of hydroplaning, my vehicle's drivers' side slammed into the concrete median on the highway before spinning out across the highway. I would have expected side/curtain airbags to deploy which would have prevented my children from hitting their heads on the windows during impact.

Filing a complaint with NHTSA that GM does not have a date when the front driver airbag can be replaced per recall Number [XXX]. This is a very dangerous airbag currently in my 2015 GM Arcadia [XXX] . The vehicle is not safe to drive and per phone call with GM customer service today 8/3/2023 there is no date when parts/replacement airbag will be available to order to replace the current airbag and eliminate the daily dangerous situation every time I drive this vehicle. This is UNACCEPTABLE since problems with these Takata airbags have been existing since 1999!!!!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The PASSENGER side air bag system on my 2015 GMC Acadia is issuing a warning light as of yesterday. The current recall is for the DRIVER seat airbag which I was told by the dealership there is no fix for as this time. I am concerned that the same potential for harm or death is present if the passenger side airbag malfunctions and would like to report the condition and request that a formal recall be created. I am also requesting information regarding when a fix will be available for the current recall.

My vehicle was recalled for exploding airbag inflators but the manufacturer has no remedy. They suggested i get a loaner car as it isn’t safe to drive. I asked if they would supply a loaner car until they have a remedy and they refused stating that it would be my responsibility to pay for the loaner but again suggested my car is unsafe to drive. I cannot afford to rent a vehicle everyday for an unknown period of time while I wait for my vehicle to be fixed. Please help

Received the notification of the airbag recall in the mail. Contacted the dealership where the car was purchased to inquire about the availability of repair parts. Was told by the service representative that there are no parts available at this time for repair. Also asked when the part would become available no timeframe is known. Requested a loaner be provided was told there were no available loaners available. Then called the # provided by GM if the dealership was unable to assist, was told by that rep that the repair parts would be available soon. Asked how long soon would take they were unable to quantify the time period.

Airbags - I received a service notification that the airbags needed to be serviced. I was told by the dealership there weren’t any outstanding recalls on this vehicle. When I researched myself, I saw that in fact, there is an outstanding recall for the airbags. The dealership is trying to charge me for the repairs on an outstanding recall on this car. If I had not researched on my own, I would be out of pocket hundreds of dollars. I transport myself and children I. This vehicle that I thought was safe. This is concerning. Struts - According to the car fax provided at the time of sale, the struts were replaced at the dealership 3 months before purchasing the car. 2 months later the struts have failed and the dealership will not cover the cost of the repair. There was only a 1,000 mile difference from when the struts were repaired until the time I purchased the car.

RECALLED. GMC NOT OFFERING ANY SOLUTIONS. I have two jobs, and two children. Got a notice saying recall "An Infaltor rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants." I noticed there have been TWO recalls on this. The first one was in 2022, and I was never informed. I need a solution. A refund for the loan amount or something. I can not put my children in the car, and I have no transportation and no solution.

The airbag recall was a month ago and according to two different GMC dealerships, GM has not yet provided the replacement for our vehicle and no ETA. Why issue a very important recall and not have the part on hand to repair a dangerous issue?

While driving my car I have noticed that my steering wheel shakes when I apply the brakes. Also when I turn the wheel the power steering makes a loud noise which is the steering rack box. Steering has gotten worse over time and noise has gotten louder. Praying me and my children do not get in an accident as I have no other vehicle to drive. Also the passenger airbag will randomly turn on and off.

WE HAD OUR CAR'S BUMPER REPAIRED, SHORTLY PRIOR TO TAKING IT THE BODY SHOP THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON. THE AUTO BODY SHOP CHECKED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL / CAMPAIGN - 15804A, IT APPLIED TO GMC ACADIA'S MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2014-2015. THE CAMPAIGN WAS VALID FOR A 6 YEAR PERIOD, 72,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 57,500 MILES AND IS 2015. GMC HAS INDICATED IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE PAPERS THE AUTOBODY SHOP SHARED ARE FOR A CAMPAIGN #15804A. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE IT WAS ISSUED ON FEBRAURY 8, 2017.THE DEALER SAYS THE RECALL EXPIRED IN NOVEMBER (YES DURING A PANDEMIC WHEN WE'RE ASKED TO DO OUR BEST TO MINIMIZE EXPOSURE, AND GM CAN'T EVEN LOCATE THE RECALL.. NOT SAFE AT ALL, FROM A LOT OF LENSES.

SIDE BLIND ZONE SENSORS FAIL DUE TO WATER INTRUSION - WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE. A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT (#N172097060) WAS ISSUED TO REPAIR THIS HOWEVER NOT ALL VEHICLES ARE COVERED IN THE SCA VIN SEARCH - AND ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED. MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN SEARCH AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE SCA. THE DAY AFTER THE INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC AND AWAITING THE PART FOR REPAIR I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE CORRUPTION OF THE SENSOR. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS SITUATION UNTIL AFTER I RESEARCHED THE SCA. THIS CORRUPTION IS NOTED IN THE SCA, HOWEVER IT ONLY STATES PART OF THE ISSUES YOU MAY SEE. DURING THE SHUTDOWN I WAS LUCKILY NOT IN MOTION, HOWEVER, THE CORRUPTION OF THE GMLAN CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DISABLE, PASSENGER AIRBAG PRESENCE DETECTION TURNED OFF, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MONITORS WERE DISABLED, THE ENTIRE DIC SHUT DOWN, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHUT DOWN, RADIO AND INFOTAINMENT CENTER SHUT DOWN, DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONED, POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN, POWER BRAKES SHUT DOWN, WINDOWS WERE DISABLED, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THERE IS NO PROTECTION BETWEEN THE SENSORS FOR ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE AND THE GM LAN. A SENSOR SHOULD NOT CAUSE THESE ISSUES, HOWEVER IT DOES, AND IT WAS ALSO NOTED IN THE SCA. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE MALFUNCTIONING SENSORS ALSO CAUSE A POWER DRAIN ON THE BATTERY, PRIOR TO THE DIC REPORTING THE SENSOR FAILURE, WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD. GM HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE WIDESPREAD ISSUE OF THESE FAULTY SENSORS OUTSIDE THE SCA, NOR THE SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE LACK OF PROTECTION ON THE GM LAN CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE. IF THE VEHICLE IS REAR-ENDED, THE SENSORS COULD CAUSE CORRUPTION IN THE GMLAN SIMILAR TO THE WATER INTRUSION ISSUE - RENDERING THE FRONT AIRBAGS INOPERABLE.

NOW I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE AIRBAGS WILL EVEN DEPLOY IF WE ARE IN AN ACCIDENT. SINCE IT IS 3 YEARS OLD THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH COST TO THE CONSUMER. I HAVE LOOKED FOR ANY RECALLS BUT HAVE NOT FOUND ANY. I'M SURE MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM.
