Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads SHIFT TO PARK. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.
The car is in park & ignition button has been hit to turn vehicle off. When engine is turned off all interior, exterior, dash, & ignition switch lights remain on with a notification on the dashboard stating to "shift to park". The doors can not be locked when this message is on the screen. It can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes for the lights & dash to go out, allowing you to exit & lock the car. If you exit the car while the message still appears on the dash, not only are the lights on & unable to lock the car, but if someone where to get into the car, without the key fob, they can start the car & drive off. My husband & I were in a shopping center parking lot in July 2025 where the "shift to park" error came on. We sat in the car, 110 degrees outside, for 10 minutes waiting for the car to shut down. Finally we had to exit the car because we could no longer take the heat. My husband went back to the car, 5 minutes late, while I was in the store to see if the car had finally shut down. To his surprise the lights and dash where still on. He noticed the start button light was also still on & thought if he hit the button the lights would shut off, but no, the car actually started & again he did not have the key fob with him. This is a serious issue & needs to be addressed & I do not feel that I should be paying for this repair. My husband unexpectantly passed away in Sept 2025 & now I am left to deal with this on my own. I have to get this issue fixed as I can not take the chance someone will take my car someday nor do I want to continue to sit in my car for 10-20 minutes waiting for it to shut down. The dealership I took it to diagnosed it as due to a faulty switch in the shifter which means its poor workmanship & not related to owner usage. Please add this to the recall list so that I can get it fixed quickly or if I have to get it fixed prior to being approved by you I can at least recoup my money. Thank you
While driving get notice lane departure not working and thermostat registered zero, when code scanned, states low thermostat temp and able to reset with code reader. Will reoccur in minters to days later. This is an electrical issue to to the ability to reset with a code scan tool, but also a safety issue since it also effects the electrical safety ability associated with the sensor.
Backup camera often does not have a clear picture. Very grainy and static.
WHEN I STOP AND PUT ME CAR IN PARK IT USUALLY GIVES A WARNING SHIFT INTO PARK
SHIFT TO PARK Warning comes on & you can't lock the vehicle nor will it shut off completely. I've had to start & reverse several times before it engages/recognizes that it is in park. OBVIOUSLY this is a KNOWN issue by reading all the other posts relating to this. Please issue a recall....
Shift to park appears when vehicle is already in park and the vehicle will not turn off.
Shift to Park light remains on after you’ve put the car in “park” which could potentially run the battery down. Car does not recognize when it is in “park”. Have to “jiggle” the gear a bit, in hopes that it turns off.
WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK I WILL GET A "SHIFT TO PARK" NOTIICATION AND WILL HAVE TO MOVE MY CAR MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET IT TO REGISTER. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON OTHER 2017 GMC ACADIA BUT DOES NOT FALL UNDER MY VIN #
Cannot shift out of park. AC stops blowing also. Electric seats stopped working. Replaced BCM modular, solenoid , entire shifter and more. It worked for two months. -Happening again. Cannot shift out of park and the AC stops working. Seat are working at moment. It’s all intermittent. Currently dealer will not help me. No warranty anymore. Im on a site where thousands of gmc’s have this same problem. Im gonna have to bring back to another dealer but no one can figure it out how to fix this. I sent my last bill. I also had one before that with the shifter assembly and solenoid replaced. I cannot find at moment
My vehicle won’t shift into park
I’m just reporting several known issues. First, with code P2138, which I got today at Oreilly after my car started throwing warnings. I used my parking brake briefly and afterwards got the following warnings on my car: “Steering Assist is Reduced, Drive with care”, “Engine power reduced” , “Propulsion Power is reduced” , “Service Parking Brake”. I’ve never even had one of these warnings. I’ve only gotten “shift to park” which is another known & common issue. With this P2138 code, it can affect acceleration and essentially loss of control over it, but seems I suddenly have several issues. Recently the infotainment system is possessed, touch screen stops working, it calls people by itself, beeps and scrolls by itself and is essentially useless. Might as well be driving at 1997 something or other, at least I could play a tape or CD. This is Denali trim at 87K miles. Primarily though I’m concerned with this code, if it’s legit, it is very dangerous. How unreliable and unsafe to not know.
After shifting to park and attempting to turn off my vehicle, I receive an “Action Required Shift to Park” error message. I’m assuming the vehicle is in park but I’m not certain and worry about it moving or rolling. It is difficult to get it to turn off by jiggling the shifter and turning the vehicle on and off. At times, I am not able to get it off and then the vehicle will not lock and the battery goes dead. According to my VIN there is not an active recall but brief internet search states there has been numerous reports, recalls, and lemon law returns due to this.
When placed in park a message appears to Shift To Park and the vehicle electrical system stays energized.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to turn off. The contact shifted from park (P) to drive(D) and was eventually able to turn off the vehicle. The contact stated that the letter P(park) was outlined in yellow and was illuminated on the instrument panel. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to close and lock the driver's side door, the door failed to lock securely. The contact stated that the failures occurred simultaneously. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

Twice the shift to park function of the vehicle has failed, once in 2020 and again in 2025, it appear that there is a recall for the year make and model vehicle, but for some reason my particular VIN in not included in this recall. The recall needs to be expanded to address this safety issue.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after shifting to the park position and attempting to turn the vehicle off, the engine shut off but the headlights and dashboard lights remained illuminated. Also, on multiple occasions, the battery had drained and the vehicle had to be jump-started. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the floor shifter harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The floor shifter harness was replaced and the failure was remedied, but approximately two years later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer. The contact was informed of the manufacturer's TSB to repair the failure and a new and improved floor shifter harness was installed which corrected the failure. The contact indicated that the manufacturer was aware of the faulty harness but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Shift to park error message when vehicle is in park and engine will not shut off. NOT RECOGNIZING MICROSWITCH IN THE CONSOLE. NEEDS A RECALL.
The known ‘Shift to park’ GMC vehicle defect could cause vehicle to rollaway and possibly hit someone.
Shift To Park. Vehicle does not turn off completely after pressing the stop button, while parked. The car horn alarms you the vehicle is not shut down. The vehicle will not allow you to lock the doors with the remote control.
My sound no longer works, the radio is constantly going out now I have no sound, no blinker clicks, no emergency notification warnings, no door chime, nothing.
I was traveling at the posted speed limit of 80 mph on [XXX] in South Dakota at [XXX] and the GMC Acadia was working without any issue when all of a sudden various warnings flashed on the dashboard with one of them being power saver mode engaged. Within about 3 minutes various other warnings flashed and the vehicle motor turned off along with all of the electrical systems. Luckily, I was able to maneuver the GMC Acadia to the shoulder of the highway safely. The vehicle would not start and for about a minute or so we were trapped in the Acadia. We could not unlock the doors or wind down the windows until I pressed the start/stop bottom several times. Onstar did not work either. Once we could get out of the Acadia, my wife called 911 and in roughly 20 minutes or so, a police officer arrived at our location. We also called AAA and had a tow truck take the broken down GMC Acadia to a garage for repairs. It turns out that the alternator went bad and rendered our GMC Acadia useless in roughly 3 minutes from the initial warning. There was absolutely none of the tell tale warnings of a bad alternator. We did not see or observe any dim lights, hesitating starts or any other things associated with a bad alternator prior to the 3 minute warning before the vehicle completely was inoperable. We are very lucky to be alive. If [XXX] was more congested with traffic at the time of this incident, we might have been serious injured if not killed. IMO this GMC Acadia is a death trap. This vehicle warns the driver when the key fob’s battery is low many weeks before it needs to be replaced. It should warn you more than 3 minutes if not several hours prior to the vehicle being completely immobilized. It should be noted that the check engine light came on several hours before this incident and I called Onstar and they ran the diagnostics and returned a P0420 code which is related to emissions. The check engine light turned itself off about 1 hour before incident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMAT
I keep getting a message for Shift to Park when my car is already parked. My battery keeps draining for no reason even through my battery is good. I could be driving and my truck just shuts off without warning and my battery dies. Then when it shuts off all these other lights comes on. I have to let it sit for a second then it starts back up. This has been going on for months. I took it to the dealership and they ran all type of test and couldn’t figure out why it was doing it.
2017 GMC Acadia "shift to park" known failure. When you place the vehicle in the park position, mechanically it seems to be in park but the control says shift to park. When traveling long distance from home you can find yourself in a position where you cannot leave your car. You cannot lock it or turn it off properly. This is an ongoing problem known to GM and listed in many Technical bulletins including Bulletin No. 19-NA-206 date September, 2019. A recall should be issued for this problem. We found ourselves stranded hundreds of miles from home with a vehicle we could not shut off or secure. This may cause you to leave your car unattended, unlocked and running if you cannot get it to park and shut down.
Ppark to shift code
Vehicle shut down while driving and start showing shift to park message had it check and issue keep having shift to park message
Shift to park alert pops up when turning vehicle off. Vehicle is in park. This prohibits the vehicle from turning off. Per my investigation other gmc acadias made in 2017 also have experienced this which results into either prohibiting them from turning their vehicle off or their battery dying. This is a safety hazard because it increases risk of being stranded due to malfunction.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the radio independently switched to different settings. Due to the failure, the speedometer was no longer be visible. The contact stated that the failure caused the driver to be distracted while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Vehicle frequently shows the error "Shift to Park" when I attempt to turn off the car after it is placed in park - which is confirmable via the instrument panel. The vehicle electronics will not turn off until the error is cleared. At times I cannot clear the error and I've had to set my parking brake and leave the car electronics running while I go into a store, which leaves car unsecured and drains the battery. The car has gone into my local GMC dealer for repairs. The first time I took it in (August 2020), I was 365 miles outside my warranty and GMC refused to pay for the repairs. The dealership felt certain a recall would be issued and suggested I have harness switched which they admitted was a band-aid fix and that it wouldn't fix the issue, but it would allow a period where the error disappears (which it did) - until a recall is issued. The Shift to Park error reappeared about 1.5 years later. I took my Acadia back to the dealership and was told they could not replicate the error and therefore there was nothing they could about it. The error is happening much more often and I've scheduled another repair appointment to address the problem.
This vehicle has a severe water leak after rain event from body. Leaks into electrical, floor boards, roof. Dealership not able to locate water leak location. Have been working on it going on a month. We recently purchased the vehicle used.
Went to Burt Watson the end of May. Paid $250 to diagnose 3 problems. Trans was intermittently kicking into passing gear when starting from a stop position, a service engine light and passenger side blind spot warning would come on when nothing was there and other times wouldn't recognize a vehicle was there. Around the middle of July the battery began draining intermittently leaving me stranded at night away from home. The rear defogger began turning itself on and couldn't be shut off and was very hot to the touch. The drivers seat moved all the way forward on its own pressing me into the steering wheel and dash while I was driving at highway speed. Forcing me to change 2 lanes of traffic trying to get to the side of the road.I was told by the service manager that the rear fuse block had shorted out do to water intrusion from bad drain ports. This was replaced, and then I was told something else was draining the battery. And this was "one " of the things not covered by warranty. There is a service bulletin stating that there may be pinholes at the top of the a-pillars and d-pillars yet the dealership stated a new windshield was needed. There are several service bulletins indicating that such leaks can reek havoc on the electronics. The dealership has changed their estimate several times with still no solution in site. The vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since July. At one point it was communicated to me that GM would assist in the cost of the repairs when and if job was ever completed. They are now stating the cost to repair the issues is $5500.00 and is my responsibility.
Shift to part to turn off vehicle but vehicle does not recognize shift to park and repeatedly requires turning the car back on to try to maneuver gear shift until it finally recognizes it is in park and can be turned off. I have had to restart my care 10-20 times before it finally recognizes it is in park and will turn off and unlock the doors. This is a repeated issue that has been going on for at least 6 months but happened again today requiring 17 restarts.
I bought my vehicle in 2020. In 2019, there was a special coverage notice (N172097060) with part repair because of known service side detection issues for water module intrusion. My understanding is this is due to the poor design and placement of the item in the rear of the vehicle that is known for getting water in it when driving, which then impacts the entire electronic system (not just service side detection). Beginning in spring 2023, I began to have these issues, starting with service side detection first. I then had other major electrical issues connected to this issue I believe are a safety concern. I have had very scary episodes at high speeds of my entire car electronic system shutting down, speedometer going to zero, gas going to empty, glitching and not starting multiple times. It got to the point my entire car was not drivable due to this issue - the dealer has a temporary fix on it to allow it to continue to be drivable until parts are in. The dealer has confirmed the issue I am experiencing is this safety special coverage issue from 2019. I contacted the dealer I bought my car from and they stated they did the special coverage fix in 2019. They confirm this issue is occurring again. However, they claim that because it was fixed in 2019, I am responsible for paying and fixing it this time around. The issue was not resolved and I believe this is a huge safety issue that should be a recall, not just a special coverage. It was very scary driving on a highway with my children in tow and having my entire system go out at a high speed. It has been inconvenient, parts are supposedly on backorder and being told it's my responsibility to cover it when it's a known issue. I have also found online many other owners having this issue. The special coverage did not fix it if water continues to get into the module and continues to generate these issues again. I appreciate any assistance on this matter and thank you for your time!
Vehicle will randomly drop into a lower gear which causes the engine to rev up, then a warning light comes on indicating that the steering assist and ABS system are offline. Not what you want to have happen when driving 70MPH on the highway. Problem has been ongoing for ytears and GMC insists it is a transmission problem but another thing I have noticed whenever it happens is that the battery voltage increases. Seems like GMC shipped these cars with weak alternators which would explain the myriad electrical problems this vehicle and others like it have had.
Shift to park issue, car wont recognize its in park and wont turn off unless you shake the gear shifter around to get it to realize its in park. Parking break issue as well, "service parking break" error popped up on my screen now I can no longer turn it on.
I get a "service side detection" on my DIC. It used to work occasionally, now it no longer works. The sensors lights do come on when the "service side detection" shows up. Sometimes this alerts comes and goes and sometimes it stays until I push a button, in which it just reappears later. Through research I found this document sent out from GM: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10160088-9999.pdf GLOBAL SAFETY FIELD INVESTIGATIONS DCS5011 URGENT - DISTRIBUTE IMMEDIATELY Subject: N172097060 - Special Coverage Side Blind Zone Alert Module Water Intrusion General Motors is releasing Special Coverage N172097060 today. The total number of U.S. vehicles involved is approximately 131,652. Please see the attached bulletin for details. Condition: Some 2013-2016 model year Chevrolet Cruze, 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala and 2013-2017 GMC Acadia vehicles, may have a condition where the Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) modules may fail or malfunction due to water intrusion. The driver may experience a side blind zone alert message displayed on the driver instrument cluster (DIC). If this message is ignored, the condition could result in the corruption of LS GMLAN that may result in the loss of some driver interface functions such as cluster, infotainment / displays, chime, and passenger presence detection (passenger airbag could be suppressed, w/airbag TT, DIC message). MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN!! Special Coverage Adjustment: This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 6 years or 80,000 miles (130,000 km) whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. CORRECTION: Dealers are to repair the vehicle by ordering and installing the appropriate service kit. The service kit will contain all of the components required to complete the repair. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. PROBLEM: MY CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE SO THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. IF IT IS A RECALL, THEY HAVE TO.
The "shift into park" when car is in park. U have to click the gear shifter several times for ut to turn off. Sometimes even having to put the car back into gear putting it back into park and the error will come up again. By clicking the gear shifter will shut it off. Sometimes this could take 2 minutes playing around with it sometimes 10 minutes sometimes it doesn't do it at all. I finally replaced the entire gear shifter mechanism by taking the center council apart. Labor price was unreal. Part price wasn't bad.
Shift to park message appears and unable to lock doors.
I put the car in park and the push button start would not let me turn off my car. I sat in the parking lot almost 30 min, putting my car in park, then drive, then park for my car to recognize its actually in park to turn off. I started getting this error on the start and stop at lights... it never turned off during the start and stop but fearing my life or my families life.... I took it to my local GMC dealership and the manager from the Service department said this is a common issue with this model, he has repaired HUNDREDS of them. His words. This is a safety issue.... I am shocked this has not been recalled. The lack of urgency to get this fixed is very concerning. It costs my $708.92 to fix this issue. I 100% think i am owed this money due to something that should 100% be recalled. I found an open class action lawsuit that was confirmed by the dealership to be the exact same issue I had. https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/auto-news/gmc-class-action-alleges-acadia-shift-to-park-defect/
1. COULD NOT PUT CAR INTO PARK OR TURN OFF. CAUSED BATTERY TO BE DEAD AS IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN PUT INTO PARK. 2. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND JERKED REPEATEDLY. COULD NOT TURN INTO PARKING SPOT. THE STEERING WHEEL HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN AND COULD NOT STOP THE JERK. IT IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY ! 3. AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT THE ROAD. IT IS AS THOUGH THERE ARE NO LIGHTS AT ALL. IT IS DANGEROUS TO NOT SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT BECAUSE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT GIVE APPROPRIATE LIGHTING.
GM put out notice in April 2019 stating side blind zone alert message due to water intrusion May cause issue with driver interface functions. Do not take your vehicle to dealership unless you believe there is a problem. Reimbursement by 4/30/2020 6 years 80,000 miles. Vehicle stopped working while parked in driveway. No start, no cranking, warning lights for security lock out, side crash detection, tire monitoring service and airbags displayed. Dome light for front door did not work while second row lights did work. Lift gate would not open. When stating issues to dealer prior to service were told they had not heard of anything that would stop a cars engine from functioning. Dealership repair stated this was due to rear blind side detection module and that the module shorted out cause all other circuits to go to ground, yet no fuses were blown. Starter fuse and relays were good. I asked dealer if this could have caused my car to stop while driving and they answered yes. Have corroded module and wire loom referee to as kit. Was told no way to circumvent system other than replacement.
Shift to park error code along with several other error codes including no remote detected that have continually and intermittentantly appeared since my car was at 16 K miles. My car has been in the shop over 10 times and these problems continue to return. my car won't shut off correctly, and this drains the battery. On 2 different occasions I was locked inside my car, unable to start it. Both of those times the outside temperature was over 100 degrees, and I almost had to break my window to exit and survive. I frantically pushed several buttons, trying to start the car, and luckily something tripped so I could open my car. The dealership replaced my battery twice before 31 K miles. They have replaced 2 different fobs when the car didn't recognize them. The dealership has replaced the transmission control assembly, the body control module, the fuel injector, the immobolizer control module, the brake control module, and my car has currently been in the shop for over 3 weeks as they may also need to replace the instrument control module and HVAC module due to those error codes. My car is at 46 K miles and has been in the shop 3 different times since 39 K (less than 10 K miles) all for similar problems. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty that will expire in 2 years. Something is draining the battery and GMC cannot or will not address the problem. There are similar documented cases: https://lemonlawexperts.com/gm-shift-to-park-recall-update/#:~:text=According%20to%20NHTSA%2C%20GM%20has,several%20model%20year%20Acadia%20vehicles. and https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/05/gmc-acadia-shift-to-park-class-action-lawsuit-filed-in-texas/ Please help to make GMC resolve this complicated problem! I now keep a tool in my car to break a window if I ever get locked in. I also keep my AAA membership active as I have had to get my car jumped several times. I do have videos of the problem, but cannot send a MP4 file.
P0128 Apparently what happens when the temp sensor on the T-Stat housing goes bad it sends a signal to the ECM that the engine is overheating, causes the temp gauge to peg to "C", shuts down A/C Compressor Clutch engagement to not exacerbate the Overheat condition and super speeds the cooling fans. Of course it's a false flag warning and the engine isn't actually running hot. At the same time a signal to the ECM also tells the Power Steering Rack that it's Super Cold out and the lube in the steering system may freeze up causing loss of steering assist. NHTSA 17-NA-158 - MAY 2017 Needed to have Thermostat and Temperature sensor replaced. Was quoted by two dealers $1400-$1700. Very deceiving for GM to have SEVERAL "tech bulletins" advising their techs how to properly diagnose this common "error"... but it's not a recall so they won't foot the bill for what is clearly a defect. Car has only 59,400 / 2017 GMC Acadia All Terrain
My vehicle has serious issues that from my research seem to be a common problem/manufacturer defect experienced by other owners of this model. I believe the defect/issue is an electrical problem. While driving, the vehicle will often have problems using it's automatic transmission. It ranges from "rough" shifting (where the car jerks while shifting gears) to situation where the vehicle fails to shift gears completely leading to the RPMs shooting up. The cars power steering and traction control system also simultaneously fail. This leads to a dangerous situation when on highways etc This issue simultaneously causes all of the warning lights on the dashboard to light up while displaying the following messages on screen "Service stabilitrak" & "steering assist reduced -drive with care" & "service brake assist" & "service parking brake". The gauges also stop responding/reflecting accurate info when this happens. I have a video of what this all looks like. This has been on ongoing intermittent problem pretty much for the entire life of the vehicle. GMC informed me that they had never heard of this when I inquired about it a dealership but searching online makes it incredibly clear that this is an extremely widespread issue that they are aware of. I have also attached a file that has a list of all error codes detected by me for this vehicle.
Vehicle went on fire in or near the engine compartment - the entire front end was burned and car is a total loss. I was in the vehicle driving home with my children (a 5 min drive from their school) and we smelled what we assumed was a a fire pit or fireplace burning nearby; we got out of the vehicle, within 90 seconds there were flames coming out of the hood. Car was well maintained and received nearly all service at the RVC GMC dealership it was purchased from. Vehicle was also still under the warranty we purchased.
I brought this car from STOOPS and have been having this same issue since I received this car in March of 2021. Check engine came on within two weeks of me getting this car. The Intake air pressure measurement system MAP sensor and MAF sensor on my 2017 GMC Acadia which is causing other issues. My car is only at 100k mikes and I shouldnt be having the same issue. The MAP sensor was replaced in July of 2021. Here it is a year later and my check engine light keeps coming on and saying the same thing which is causing all these other issues to happen such as steering power system reduced which driving. Notifications about of transmission and engine issues because of Intake Air Pressure Measurement System. Every time I take it to stoops they have it for a couple days and I’m out of a car which means no transportation for work and within 10 days after I get it back the same issue appears. The car sounds like it’s going to shut off at any given time I’m driving. It shutters while at a light or in a restaurant line. It drives smooth but when I shut the car off it makes a whiny noise sometimes. I don’t feel safe driving myself and my kids in the car when different things come up all because of this intake air pressure measurement system issue
When trying to place the vehicle in "PARK" the message is displayed to "SHIFT TO PARK". The shift lever is in the park position, but the vehicle CANNOT BE TURNED OFF while this message is displayed. The shift lever has to be moved back and forth multiple times, sometimes for several minutes before allowing you to safely shut down the vehicle and exit. This is a known issue for GMC vehicles, yet they tell me that my VIN doesn't show the vehicle is eligible for a recall for this exact issue.
Shift to park comes on intermittently while in park and turning off engine. Unable to completely shut car off as it does not recognize it is in park. Battery will drain and car may roll.
This Car, 2017GMC Acadia, started showing up on many occasions; and is getting worse. I park the car and put it into park. when I try to turn off the engine, a message shows up on the display SHIFT CAR INTO PARK. the car is in park, and I cannot shut off the engine, due to this message. The car IS in park, and the message tells me it is not. AND I CANNOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I have to leave the car engine running until I try shifting gear shift back and forth multiple times and bingo sometimes the message goes away. Something is wrong here.
The 2017 GMC Acadia has a known problem when shifting to park. The computer system does not acknowledge the vehicle is in park. It requires numerous ways to get the vehicle to acknowledge it is in park and shut off: 1) Turn the motor on and off and shift from drive to park continuously until acknowledged in park and shuts off (waste of time, gas, and effect on the starter and ignition) 2) Bang down on the console shift knob 3) Pray This is a known problem with Acadia 2017 and 2018. Why has this issue not been addressed for a forced recall by GMC. If you take it to the dealer to fix it is very expensive and their original problem. this is a safety issue shifting from drive to park continuously when stopped. This is not good to have to do especially for senior citizens who might inadvertently drive forward or in reverse when simply trying to stop.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the key fob was inoperable. The vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the vehicle spontaneously locked. The contact was able to start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to move. The vehicle was taken four times to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the side blind spot module needed to be repaired. Additionally, the inter system malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 38,538.
Mileage: 38,538
When vehicle trying to shift vehicle into park error message occurs stating 'shift to park' prior to being able to turn off vehicle. Happens multiple times with same error message even when you believe you have the car in park it's difficult to believe that or take the risk of it not being in park and an accident happening
side detection modules swollen causing failure, repair $735.97.
I don’t know what is going on with it. I have had it in and out of the shop. My car will randomly throw the parking break on and completely lock my car up. There is no reason why it should be on. The dealership thought it could be the systems needing a update but that didn’t fix it. It’s a real big safety issue and needs to be looked into. It just did it to me crossing over rail road tracks and I couldn’t go anywhere until it decided to unlock.
Transmission gear shifter displays shift to park error message, so that I can't turn off the vehicle. Vehicle stays active when you try to get out and won't lock.
Previous complaint of Shift to Park on 06/13/19 VOQ 11219862 at mileage 36270. On 12/5/21, approx miles 62099 same problem with Shift to Park. Was scheduled for service on 12/06/21 at Adams Buick GMC in Richmond, KY and mentioned the problem and previous complaint. Was told that it had been over a year ago but that they could fix it and charge me $152 for part & $315 for labor. It was less that 26000 miles driven since the last issue. After last complaint, the dealer contacted GMC and the part was replaced at no cost under bulletin for concern # 5 145420 and they replaced the transmission control assembly. This is an ongoing problem with GMC and I don't think that every 26000 miles I should have to pay to replace the same part when GMC knows it is a problem by the numerous complaints. In fact while I was getting my vehicle serviced, I spoke to another lady there who had the same problem with her vehicle. Had I not caught the message, I probably would have had to replace my battery or my vehicle could have rolled into the house. There were no warning lamps or messages prior. GMC needs to step up to the plate and issue a recall because they have numerous vehicles with the same problem. My vehicle has undergone this malfunction twice and I find it unacceptable and know that I can't afford to pay $467 every 26000 miles for an issue that GMC is clearly aware of but won't address because no one has been killed by the issue as of this date to my knowledge, but it's going to happen sooner or later if the issue is not addressed properly.
Vehicle is a 2017 Acadia Denali with ~39,000 miles. The problem started without any symptoms or warnings in October 2021. The dash gives a "Shift to Park" message when the shift is moved to the Park position and the driver attempts (to turn all systems off so as) to park and exit the vehicle. When the Off button is pushed, the "Shift to Park" message displays. The engine does turn off, but the lighting, radio, etc. stay on. When opening the door, the vehicle emits tone(s) suggesting the driver is trying to leave the vehicle while it's running and/or has left electrical systems on. Driver is actually attempting to simply turn everything off and park the vehicle. The fact that all the lighting and radio stay on runs down the battery, potentially leaving the driver stranded.
Shift to park light came on when I parked. As I parked, the break pad locked and I could not release it. The shifter locked and I could not release it. It Would not let me turn vehicle off. I had to experiment on how to get error message to stop and breaks to unlock so I did result to jiggling the shifter And put car in reverse then in drive and park again and trying to turn off (after doing this atleast 4 times) eventually it unlocked and let me turn car off without getting this error message. This happened 2 years prior and I had my 1 yr old in car with me panicking bc I couldn’t drive my car for a bit until the mechanism decided to start working again. This time I knew how to fix it better bc it had happened 2 yrs prior so I knew to wiggle the shifter and try to put it back in drive etc to eventually get car to shut off. There’s records of this shift to park being fixed in 2019 and again in 2021. I should not be responsible for paying ANYTHING for these issues. It is a GMC malfunction. Although mechanical it is a safety concern of mine too!
Vehicle was purchased used in June 2020 ISSUE #1 After shifting car into park, display will indicate P for PARK , but also says vehicle is not in park. Since you are not sure if it actually in PARK and to eliminate this display, you need to restart the vehicle, go thru the gears again and then back into PARK. This happens several times a week with having to restart and PARK again up to 10 TIMES before the vehicle will register it is in park. I have read there is a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue as well as a case to get GMC to issue a RECALL. This is a serious issue because you are unaware if the vehicle transmission is actually in PARK. Having to restart and continually shift to park is time consuming and quite frankly a nuisance. At this point in time, the only way of correction, other than RESTARTING UP TO TEN TIMES, is to click the gear shift several times after placing in park. This will work 5/10 times. ISSUE #2 - Vehicle does not always detect remote. Have replaced battery in remote 5 times and will last approximately 8-10 weeks. At times, when the vehicle has been driven and is placed into park, the display will read NO REMOTE DETECTED. Have also placed remote into pocket into console and will still receive the same NO REMOTE DETECTED. Although there is never any indication battery is low or dead on remote, this is also the only possible correction we have found. However, we do believe there must be another correction for this issue.
This vehicle has twice had parts replaced for the "Shift to Park" issue detailed in GM TSB 19-NA-206. The first incident was in April 2019, and it was repaired under warranty at about 24,800 miles. The second incident was this past week at about 50,800 miles, and this repair cost almost $800 to fix. I contacted GM customer support and was told that I could not get any reimbursement because there was no special coverage or recall for this known problem. This is completely unacceptable, since the problem is clearly a defect in parts manufacturing or assembly, and it renders the vehicle completely unusable since it is impossible to turn the car off when the car does not recognize that the shifter is in park. This is a safety issue because the driver needs to be certain whether or not the vehicle is securely parked before leaving the vehicle.
When you put the car in park it often won’t recognize it and will display a message on the console stating “shift to park”. When it does this you’re not able to turn your car completely off so you just have to continue messing around with the shifter or turning the car back on again by pressing the break until it finally goes off. This happens at least once daily and can take upwards of 5 minutes sometimes to finally recognize the car is in park so you can turn the car off. We’ve tried leaving the car running before when this message is displayed when it’s been parked in our garage thinking it would eventually realize it’s in park and shutoff but after 10 minutes of running it still hadn’t recognized it was in park. We called our dealership about this and they told us that they get a lot of complaints about this issue.
SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY ACADIA IN MAY OF 2018, IT STARTED DISPLAYING A SHIFT TO PARK WARNING WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY. WELL ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME IT'S WORSE. IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES AND TRICKS TO GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE IT'S IN PARK AND ALLOW ME TO SHUT THE CAR OFF - WHEN THE WARNING POPS UP IT WON'T ALLOW THE CAR TO POWER OFF SO ALL THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 79,000 MILES AND THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY ONCE THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT'S A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE GIVES A 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING ON DASHBOARD AFTER VEHICLE IGNITION BUTTON. THIS WARNING SHOWS UP EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED TO SHUT OFF. IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES AND TRIES TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY AND THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL WAY OF GETTING THE MESSAGE AND VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IS BY WIGGLING OR SHAKING THE GEAR SHIFTER UNTIL IT GOES AWAY. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE FOR CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL WITH THE VEHICLE NOT REGISTERING THAT IT IS IN PARK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLE ISSUE FURTHER IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVE HAD THE SAME SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AND HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLE ROLL ON IT'S OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED BUT UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED I AM BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE DASHBOARD SHOWS A WARNING THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. IF I LEAVE THE CAR LIKE THAT, ALL THE ELECTRICAL STUFF STAYS ON. MY HUSBAND WAS AT A GAS STATION, AND PUMPING GAS IS NOT SAFE WITH THE CAR NOT SHUTTING OFF. ALSO I AM CONCERNED IF THE VEHICLE WILL BE ABLE TO ROLL. MY NIECE ALSO HAS AN ACADIA, AND 3 YOUNG SONS ALL STILL IN CAR SEATS, SO SHE HAS TO USE THE 3RD ROW SEAT, SO GETTING HER SONS OUT OF A VEHICLE IS NOT A QUICK CHORE. IF THE CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND GO INTO PARK AND CAN ROLL, IT WOULD BE A DISASTER IF HER CHILDREN WERE STILL IN THE VEHICLE STILL STRAPPED INTO THEIR SEATS.

MY 2017 GMC ACADIA SHUT OFF LOST ALL POWER FOR A COUPLE MINS AT A BUSY INTERSECTION IN SEPTEMBER 2020. ALL POWER RESTORE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. I TOOK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. NOW ON THE 28TH OF DECEMBER 2020, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN AT THE SAME BUSY INTERSECTION! NO POWER AT ALL! COULD NOT EVEN TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO WARN TRAFFIC THAT WAS COMING UP BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY! THE VEHICLE REMAINED LIKE THIS FOR 10-15 MINUTES! COULDN'T EVEN HAVE ANYONE PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE WE COULDN'T SHIFT IT TO NEUTRAL EITHER. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS GM ADVISED AND THEY STILL COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED BUT CANNOT MAKE SENSE OF WHY THIS KEEPS OCCURRING RANDOMLY. I HAD MY SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR THIS TIME AND WE ARE LUCKY WE DID NOT GET REAR ENDED! I FEAR THAT MY FAMILY IS NOT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE SHIFTING LEVER, REPORTING THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. TWO DAYS AGO, WHEN PARKING, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, BUT AGAIN RECEIVED THE SHIFT TO PARK NOTICE, WITH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STILL ON. THIS TIME, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. COULD NOT RESTART ENGINE, AND SHIFTING LEVER WAS STUCK IN PLACE. HAD TO SET THE PARKING BREAK AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. THIS HAS BEEN A HAZARD TO OUR FAMILY AND OUR FAMILIES HEALTH AS THE VEHICLE WILL THEN DIE EVENTUALLY BECAUSE THE BATTERY RUNS OUT. IT IS APPARENT THAT THERE IS A SEVERE MALFUNCTION IN THE ELECTRICAL/GEARBOX/COMPUTER SYSTEM NOT RECOGNIZING WHERE THE SHIFTER IS AT THE MOMENT. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD A PHOTO BUT IF I WERE TO TURN THE CAR ON TO TAKE THE PHOTO THE CAR LIKELY WILL NOT TURN OFF, AND THEN DIE ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH TO 6 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF, AND AS A RESULT I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF SHIFTING REPEATEDLY UP TO 20 TIMES TO FINALLY GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE IT'S IN PARK. THE VEHICLE IS TOTALLY UNSAFE AS IT WILL NOT STAY IN PARK!
Mileage: 31,000
WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK I GET A WARNING THAT SAYS MY CAR IS NOT IN PARK ACTION REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE BELL CONTINUES TO DING AND WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE CAR. MY FEAR IS GETTING OUT THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTING TO ROLL NOT KNOWING IF THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY IN PARK. THIS IS VERY SCARY NOT KNOWING IF IT IS SAFE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE.
Mileage: 27,401
I GET A 'SHIFT TO PARK' NOTIFICATION WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO TURN IT OFF. I'M CONFIDENT MY CAR IS IN PARK AS IT DOESN'T MOVE WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE, I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR, PUT IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, THEN SHIFT INTO PARK AGAIN. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DO THIS 5 TIMES BEFORE I'M ABLE TO TURN OFF MY CAR.

WHEN THE CAR IS INTENTIONALLY STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE DASHBOARD SHOWS A WARNING THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. IT REQUIRES MOVING THE GEAR SHIFT IN AND OUT OF DRIVE UNTIL THE ELECTRONICS RECOGNIZE THE CAR IS IN PARK. UNTIL THEN, ALL THE CAR ELECTRONICS REMAIN ACTIVE. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED AN ALARM SOUNDS BECAUSE THE ELECTRONICS THINKS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. THE GMC DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT CLAIMS THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX IT ARE UNAVAILABLE. THIS FIRST HAPPENED OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM, BUT CLAIMS THE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE.

AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP OF A NEW GMC ACADIA MY SUV WOULD NOT SHUT OFF ONCE I PARKED MY CAR. IT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DETECT THAT I SHIFTED INTO PARK AFTER ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION. ALL THE ELECTRONICS WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. I WOULD HAVE HAVE TO STAY IN THE CAR AND PLAY WITH THE SHIFTER UNTIL THE COMPUTER FINALLY READ THAT IT WAS IN PARK. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SUV WAS FIXED WITH AN NEW PART THAT SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR NOW BUT AS FAR AS I AM AWARE GMC IS STILL DOESN'T KNOW WHY THE PROBLEM IS BEING CAUSED SO I AM WAITING TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. AFTER GETTING IT FIXED NOW MY VEHICLE GIVES ME ANOTHER WARNING EVERY TIME MY "AUTO ENGINE OFF" IS ACTIVATED AT WHEN I COME TO A STOP. NOW I CONTINUOUSLY GET "STEBILITITRC" WARNING EVERY TIME I STOP. THEY FIXED ONE PROBLEM AND NOW I HAVE ANOTHER. IT IS MY FAMILY CAR SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE BUT GMC DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHATS WRONG OR HOW TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE AWARE OF MANY ACADIAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
"SHIFT TO PARK" ISSUE AS DESCRIBED BY OTHERS. GM DEALER SAYS IT NEEDS TO REPLACE A $20.00 HARNESS + LABOR OF OVER $200.00. "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" ISSUE THAT RANDOMLY PRESENTED ITSELF ONE DAY. I WAS UNABLE TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE. GM DEALER HAD TO "UPGRADE" MY EBCM FOR A WHOPPING $200.00. HOW DOES GM THINK THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THEY HAVE A MONOPOLY BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN FIX THIS!

WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, AN ERROR IS DISPLAYED STATING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER IS IN P. IN ORDER TO GET THIS MESSAGE TO GO AWAY, I HAVE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER UP AND DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES. COULD TAKE UP TO 20 MIN TO GET THE ERROR TO GO AWAY. I CAN NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ERROR IS OFF BECAUSE THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY. I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLS A LITTLE MORE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET ERROR MESSAGE OFF. THIS IS CONCERNING THAT IT MAY NOT REALIZE ITS IN PARK AND ROLL INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH OR ROLL AWAY. I TOOK TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A 'KNOWN' ISSUE AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, NOR IS THERE A RECALL. I JUST PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR NEW TIRES BECAUSE GM KNEW THE TIRES PLACED WERE 'WEARING' TOO SOON BASED ON MILEAGE. NOW, I AM BEING TOLD I WILL HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $600 TO GET THIS FIXED. GM KNOWS OF ISSUES AND NOT FIXING THEM IS WRONG. THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE, HAS BEEN LISTED AS COMPLAINTS FOR THE PAST YEAR, YET GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX AND CONTINUE TO MAKE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. FRUSTRATING THAT I HAVE TO SPEND THE MONEY TO FIX AN ISSUE THEY KNOW ABOUT! THIS NEEDS PUSHED BACK TO GM TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. THE SHIFTER ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND FIXED.

WHEN SHIFTING THE VEHICLE TO PARK AND THEN SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE, I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE 'ACTION REQUIRED- SHIFT TO PARK'. THE VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN PARK! I'VE HAD TO JIGGLE THE SHIFTER, PRESS THE BRAKE WHILE JIGGLING THE SHIFTER, RESTART THE VEHICLE PUT IN REVERSE, THEN BACK IN PARK, AND JIGGLE SOME MORE. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS (BOTH INTERIOR & EXTERIOR) WILL NOT POWER OFF AND THE DOOR CHIMES NONSTOP. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE OVER A MONTH SINCE THE LAST INCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED TWO DAYS AFTER I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE I MISSED THE ERROR MESSAGE HEADING IN TO WORK. THE LAST 2 DAYS MY HUSBAND HAS DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY BECAUSE NOTHING WILL WORK TO POWER OFF RADIO & LIGHTS. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY TWICE NOW IN A NEW VEHICLE LEASED IN 2016. THE FIRST TIME WAS DUE TO BRAKE RECALL, MY VEHICLE BEING THE ONLY 2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI EFFECTED BY THAT RECALL. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ON BECAUSE THE BRAKE WAS BASICALLY STICKING, DRAINING THE BATTERY. THAT ISSUE ALSO DISABLED THE CRUISE CONTROL AS THAT FEATURE IS UNAVAILABLE WHEN BREAKING! THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAD REPAIR TO WIRING IN DRIVER SIDE DOOR DUE TO WATER GETTING INTO THE DOOR FRAME FROM OUTSIDE AND CORRODING WIRES CAUSING DETECTION ISSUES WITH THE KEY FOB. I COULD NOT UNLOCK MY DOORS WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEY TO MANUALLY UNLOCK. WHILE IN THE CAR WASH, THE VEHICLE LOST CONNECTION WITH MY KEY AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED ALL THE WAY BACK AS IT WOULD FOR EASY EXIT WHICH I HAD DISABLED. MESSAGE STATING KEY NOT DETECTED WOULDI WAS TOLD A NEEDED A NEW BATTERY IN MY FOB, DEALERSHIP REPLACED, CALLED & SAID EVERYTHING WAS WORKING AS IT SHOULD. THEY RAN THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE CAR WASH BEFORE I ARRIVED TO PICK UP THE CAR. WHEN I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE THE FOB. THANK GOODNESS THE SERVICE REP WAS THERE TO WITNESS THE MALFUNCTION.

UPON SHIFTING THE CAR TO PARK AND SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE, THE CONSOLE SAYS, "SHIFT TO PARK". THE CAR APPEARS TO ROLL SOME. I HAVE NOT BEEN ON AN INCLINE TO SEE IF IT IS TRULY IN PARK OR NOT. IT WILL NOT ALLOW THE ELECTRONICS TO SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT LET YOU LOCK THE CAR SO THE CAR CANNOT BE LEFT WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY AND TODAY I HAD TO SHUT OFF AND START THE CAR AND DRIVE IT 10-15 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD RECOGNIZE IT WAS ACTUALLY IN PARK.
Mileage: 44,500
UPON TURNING VEHICLE OFF, "SHIFT TO PARK!" ILLUMINATES ON THE CLUSTER. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL IT IS RE-STARTED, SHIFTED IN AND OUT OF GEAR. SOMETIMES THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE HAS BEEN ONE INSTANCE THE ERROR WOULD NOT CLEAR, AND I WAS FORCED TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE ON, AS I WENT INTO A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING, NOT TO MENTION THE WASTED FUEL WITH STARTING/STOPPING THE VEHICLE 5-10 TIMES EACH TIME I TURN IT OFF. I'VE TAKEN VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IT IS TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD HERE. RIDICULOUS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND THE ENGINE RAN FOR HOURS. EVENTUALLY, THE INTERNAL SYSTEM RECOGNIZED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND FINALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING TO ADDRESS THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 18-NA-297 ON DECEMBER 13, 2018. THE CONTACT CALLED NUMEROUS UNKNOWN DEALERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO TRY TO BUY THE PART MENTIONED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT THE PART WAS STILL ON BACKORDER. THE PART THAT WAS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER ASSEMBLY (NUMBER: 13528228). THE COST OF THE PART WAS LESS THAN $150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ITS INITIAL WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *TR

THE CAR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE OR SHIFT TO PARK.. THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF WHILE THE SHIFTER IS IN PARK THINKING THAT THE CAR ISN'T IN PARK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE YOU BELIEVE IT IS IN PARK WHEN THE CAR IS SAYING IT ISN'T AND WILL NOT CLEAR THE ALERT UNLESS YOU CONTINUOUSLY TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF AND TOGGLE THE SHIFTER. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE BEING REPORTED

WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO SHUT OFF, THE ACADIA GIVES THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK". THE VEHICLE IS CLEARLY IN PARK AND I MUST START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND SHIFT TO REVERSE OR ANOTHER POSITION AND TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE VEHICLE AND KEEPS POWER TO THE VEHICLE (DRAINING THE BATTERY) UNTIL IT RECOGNIZES THAT IT IS INDEED IN PARK. THIS HAS CAUSED A STALL AND THE VEHICLE TO POSSIBLY STILL BE IN GEAR WHEN PARKED LEADING TO A ROLLING HAZARD. HAS TAKEN AS MANY AS 15 TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO REALIZE IT IS IN PARK. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A TSB (18-NA-297) REGARDING THIS ISSUE, BUT IS PLACING THE COST OF THE FIX ON THE CONSUMER. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT HAS STARTED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.

SHIFT TO PARK RECALL - THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY ACADIA WAS IN PARK AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND I GOT AN ERROR CODE THAT SAID ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON PUT IT IN DRIVE AND BACK INTO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF THE STOP THE BEEPING. I SPOKE TO FLEMINGTON GMC AND THIS ISSUE IS NOT A RECALL. THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME THE ERROR CODE READS ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK. WHICH CLEARLY MEANS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK IF IT'S TELLING YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN YOU ALREADY PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE CAR OFF USING THE START STOP BUTTON. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PHONE CALL FROM AMBER AT GMC AS I WAS SUPPOSE TO BE CALLED ON 9/3/19 REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

AT RANDOM TIMES, WHEN PARKING MY VEHICLE, AFTER PLACING IT IN 'PARK' AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, THE DIC WARNS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN 'PARK' EVEN WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN 'PARK'. I HAVE TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, SHIFT THE VEHICLE FROM 'PARK TO 'DRIVE' AND THEN BACK TO 'PARK', SHUTCTHE VEHICLE OFF AND THE WARNING ON THE DLC GOES AWAY. THIS IS STARTING TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN, EVERY 3-5 START-STOP CYCLES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR CONDITIONER SPONTANEOUSLY TURNED ON TO THE HIGH SETTING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAY SKILLMAN SOUTHSIDE BUICK GMC (8424 US-31, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46227, (317) 497-0711) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. IT KEEPS STATING THAT IT IS NOT IN PARK. HAVE MOVED SHIFTER BETWEEN GEARS REPEATEDLY, THE DASH DISPLAY SAYS IT IS IN PARK, THE CONSOLE SAYS IT IS IN PARK, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FLAT SURFACES, AND INCLINES. THE END RESULT IS A VEHICLE THAT THINKS IT IS ON, WONT LOCK DOORS, AND KILLS THE BATTERY DUE TO REMAINING IN THE ON POSITION.

OUR 2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI IS EXPERIENCING "ACTION REQUIRED" "SHIFT TO PARK" ALERT ON THE DASH. THE INDICATOR ON THE DASH SHOWS THE CAR IS IN "P" FOR PARK AND THE SHIFTER IS PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE ONLY RESOLVE FOR THIS ERROR TO GO AWAY IS PUSHING BACK AND FORTH ON THE SHIFTER UNTIL FINALLY SOMETIMES UP TO TEN MINUTES, THE SYSTEM RECOGNIZED THAT THE CAR IS ACTUALLY IN PARK. IF YOU DO NOT SPEND THE TIME TO TRY AND MAKE THE SYSTEM RECOGNIZE THAT SHIFTER IS IN THE PARKED POSITION THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO TRY ALERT YOU WITH DINGING INSIDE THE CAR AND THEN HONKING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO WHICH HAS BEEN REPORTED BY SEVERAL PEOPLE UPON OUR INVESTIGATION AFTER EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. THE PART TO WHICH IS NEEDED TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS CURRENTLY ON BACKORDER PER OUR LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP TO WHICH THERE IS NO ESTIMATED TIME TO RECEIVE THE PART IN TO RESOLVE OUR ISSUE. WE ARE BEING TOLD IT COULD TAKE "WEEKS" PRIOR TO THIS PART BEING RECEIVED TO FIX THE ISSUE.

SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON LAST YEAR. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP SINCE I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX BECAUSE I HAD TAKEN A LIGHT HIT TO THE REAR FENDER AREA WHERE THE SENSOR IS ON 02/06/2016. FRIENDS TOLD ME THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES SO I LOOKED ONLINE AND WAS APPALLED AT THE COMPLAINTS! I AM RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD THE $1,600 OR MORE RIGHT NOW. AS A SENIOR THIS WAS A REASON I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. NOW THAT IT DOES NOT WORK I HAVE TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL WITH BLIND SPOTS! THIS WARNING CAME ON AND FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING WHEN CAR WAS TURNED ON.

AND IT RAN THE BATTERY DOWN WELL TODAY IT DID THE SAME THING I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS THE BATTERY THE SAME DAY IT WENT OUT I RECEIVED A APPLICAION DOWNLOAD, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT WAS. I PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VWHICLE AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE THIS PROBLEM CAUSES DEATH ' THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP-I CALLED TO REORT THIS PROBLEN TO GMC THE FIRST EVENING NOTING WAS DONE EITHER, CALLED GMC RO TOE DIDNT EVEN SHOW UP

DASH DISPLAYS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK WHEN IT IS FOR SURE.
WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CARS BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING UP WHEN SOMETHING TRIGGERS THE COLLISION SAFETY BREAK. SPECIFICALLY WHEN CROSSING RAIL ROAD TRACKS AFTER A TRAIN HAS PAST. AS A RESULT THE CAR STOPS COMPLETELY AND AUTOMATICALLY WHILE ON RAILROAD TRACKS AND WON'T ALLOW YOU TO MOVE. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, WAIT (ON RAILRAOD TRACKS) AND THEN ATTEMPT TO MOVE BUT IT MAY ACTIVATE IT AGAIN SO YOU HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. MEANWHILE YOU ARE ON TRACKS, WITH CARS BEHIND YOU HONKING AND SCREAMING. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, REPORTED IT TO OUR DEALER, SERVICE AND GMC CORPORATE WHERE NOTHING WAS DONE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD PUT IN A "BLACK BOX" LIKE DEVICE BUT NEVER DID. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY AND ONE THAT GMC IS NOT ADDRESSING ADAQUATELY.

MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT UNLOCK FOR HOURS THEN IT FINALLY DID AND RAN FOR A BIT. THEN WHEN STARTED AGAIN WOULD NOT N. THEN WENT TO BRI G IT IN AND NOTHING WORKED CORRECT. THE SPEEDOMETER WAS AT 0 AND IT WAS SCARY! THE WHOLE VEHICLE WOULD NOT WORK RIGHT AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS A SIDE SENSOR MODULE AND IT WAS $735 TO REPLACE. MY CAR IS NOT THAT OLD. THEY SAID WETNESS COULD HAVE GOT TO IT. WE LIVE IN MIN EDITS. MANY CARS GET WET. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY SHARE SOPOSE TO BE COMING OUT WITH A RECALL AND NEW BOXES THAT COVER THESE SENSORS. I WILL BE EXPECTING TO BE REIMBURSED WHEN THIS BECOMES A RECALL WHICH IT DEFIANTLY NEEDS TO BE! I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE PRICE OF MINE SHOULD BE ON THIS!

VEHICLE HAD MULTIPLE (MORE THAN 2) WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF, WHILE RPM AND MPH NEEDLE WOULD FLUCTUATE SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHILE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND ALSO WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL FULLY PRESSED, ESPECIALLY ON AN INCLINE. WHILE THIS WAS OCCURRING I HAD TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND TURN AROUND IN AN ADJACENT SUBDIVISION. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A CAR IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO GO FORWARD ON THE STREET DUE TO A SLIGHT INCLINE. IT WOULD ALSO JERK INTO GEAR WHEN MOVING FROM REVERSE AND DRIVE. HAD THIS HAPPENED IN A TRAFFIC INTERSECTION, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF BEING 'FIXED' IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK THIS TIME WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO FIX IT. THE LAST TIME IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR AROUND 10 DAYS.

SHIFT TO PARK ERROR MESSAGE WHEN GEAR SHIFT IS IN PARK AND VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE AUXILIARY POWER STAYS ON (RADIO AND USB) AND WILL NOT LET ME LOCK THE DOORS. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY DAY. MUST RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PUT INTO GEAR THEN INTO PARK MULTIPLE TIMES.

THE A/C COMES ON AND OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT. GM STATES THEY DID THIS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TURN YOUR DEF. ON. WHILE I'M DRIVING I CONTINUALLY HAVE TO TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO FIDDLE WITH THE TEMP. CONTROL. (THE A/C COMES ON FULL COLD) I'VE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY REFUSE TO DO OR OFFER ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER.
WHEN YOU PUT THE SHIFTER INTO THE PARK POSITION AND YOU TRY TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WITH THE START/STOP BUTTON AN ON DASH ERROR CODE OF 'SHIFT TO PARK' APPEARS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS CLEARLY IN PARK. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IT BEEPS INCESSANTLY, THE BATTERY REMAINS ON AND THE DOORS DO NOT WANT TO LOCK. GMC HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BY HUNDREDS OF 2017 ACADIA OWNERS HOWEVER THEIR ENGINEERS HAVE NOT FOUND A SOLUTION. THIS DEFECT IS FORCING ME TO TURN THE ENGINE ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, TRYING PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THEN SHIFTING BACK IN DRIVE, WIGGLING THE SHIFTER, OPENING THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS AND REPEATING ANY AND ALL OF THESE PROCESSES UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY TURNS OFF THE SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AND ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN (OR IF YOU CAN CONFUSE THE ELECTRICAL PANEL AND HAVE ANOTHER MESSAGE POP UP TO OVERRIDE IT, SUCH AS THE ONE THAT SAYS 'CHECK REAR PASSENGER SEAT". I DO NOT KNOW IF MY CAR IS EVER TRULY IN GEAR OR NOT. I'M AFRAID THAT IT MIGHT CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE MY VEHICLE ROLLS THINKING IT IS NOT IN PARK OR THE BATTERY DIES UNEXPECTEDLY OR THE VEHICLE IS STOLEN BECAUSE IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF OR THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND THIS STARTED OCCURRING AT AROUND 15,000 MILES AND IS A HIGHLY REPORTED PROBLEM THAT NECESSITATES A RECALL FIX FOR SAFETY.
Mileage: 15,000
I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 GMC ACADIA ON DECEMBER 14TH 2017. ON OCTOBER 11TH 2018, MY ACADIA WAS RENDERED COMPLETELY DISABLED BY A WHAT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED BY THE DEALERSHIP AS A " DEAD BATTERY" I WAS ALMOST LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED AND THE ELECTRONIC LOCKS WOULD NOT OPERATE. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS INDICATION, NOTIFICATION OR WARNING BY THE VEHICLE AND MONITORING SERVICE OR OF AN IMPENDING BATTERY FAILURE OBVIOUSLY, A 10 MONTH OLD BATTERY IN A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETELY DRAINED AFTER ONLY 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP ( LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THERE MAY BE MORE AT PLAY THAN JUST A BAD BATTERY). HAD THIS HAPPENED ANYWHERE ELSE BESIDES MY DRIVEWAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE NEAREST AUTHORIZED GMC REPAIR FACILITY. THE DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THIS STILL LEAVES ME WITH DOUBTS ABOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THE VEHICLE AND INTEGRITY OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
Mileage: 13,274
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AFTER DRIVING AND THE PLACED IN PARK, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THAT IS IN "PARK". THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR ACCESSORIES TO REMAIN RUNNING AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. FROM REVIEW OF INFORMATION, THIS IS A KNOW MANUFACTURING DEFECT FROM GM. WHEN GM WAS CONTACTED TO HAVE REPAIRED IN THE VEHICLE WE WERE INFORMED THAT THEY CANNOT WARRANTY THEIR VEHICLES FOREVER AND IT WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INAPPROPRIATE RESPONSE FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM BUT HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

SHIFT TO PARK STAYS ON WHEN PLACING MY VEHICLE INTO PARK. THIS DOES NOT ALLOW THE ELECTRONICS TO SHUT OFF INDEFINITELY RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY. GMC HAS STATED THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND THAT BECAUSE I AM OUT OF MY WARRANTY THIS IS NOT COVERED. AFTER READING MULTIPLE FORUMS THERE ARE HUNDRED OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE FROM 100MILES TO 60K+ AND GM HAS REFUSED TO MAKE THIS A RECALL. SOMEONE DID STATE THAT THEY GOT THEIR SHIFT ASSEMBLY REPLACED AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH GM AND NOT STANDING BEHIND AN ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURE. THEY ALSO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH CADILLAC STEMMING FORM THEIR TENNESSEE PLANT. BUYERS BEWARE!

HELLO, IS ANYONE INVESTIGATING THE HORN PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 GMC ACADIA THAT IS WELL-DOCUMENTED IN MANY PLACES, INCLUDING YOUR OWN NHTSA WEBSITE? THE SAME PROBLEM LIKELY EXISTS WITH THE 2018 MODELS AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE '17 MODELS WERE FIRST INTRODUCED IN 2016 AND GM SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX IT. A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY CAN'T FIX IT? THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR WORSE. GM DEALERS ARE STILL SELLING THESE VEHICLES TO UNINFORMED BUYERS AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

TWO MONTH OLD 2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI FWD. HORN IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. IT TAKES TWO HANDS TO MAKE IT WORK AND ONLY WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE, AND IN ONLY ONE SPOT ON THE STEERING WHEEL. RECENTLY I WAS ALONGSIDE OF A BIG RIG AND THE DRIVER DID NOT SEE ME. HE STARTED TO MANEUVER INTO MY LANE AND THE ACADIA HORN WOULD NOT WORK. NEARLY CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON A 70MPH POSTED HIGHWAY. THE DEALER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO GMC AND NHTSA BY MANY 2017 GMC ACADIA OWNERS. TO DATE, GMC OFFERS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. A RECALL OR AT LEAST A REPAIR BULLETIN NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR WORSE. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2017 GMC ACADIA, AND POSSIBLY THE 2018 GMC ACADIA IF THE SAME HORN ACTIVATION HARDWARE IS USED IN THE NEWER MODEL.

NOTHING WAS IN FRONT OF VEHICLE AT TIME OF FORWARD COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM APPLICATION. TAPPED ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND VEHICLE HESITATED BUT SLOWLY ACCELERATED TO NORMAL SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE BEHIND AT THE TIME BARELY STOPPED WHICH WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED MY VEHICLE AND CAUSED A CHAIN REACTION. CONTINUED ON TO WORK, CAREFULLY APPLYING ACCELERATOR AFTER EACH STOP. VERY SCARY FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND AND NOT IMMEDIATELY ALLOWING DRIVER TO CONTROL ACCELERATION.

REQUIRES EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO OPERATE, REQUIRING USING BOTH HANDS AND THEN ONLY IN ONE SPOT. GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT, CALLING IT IS OPERATING "AS DESIGNED". THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND GM FAILS TO ADMIT IT AND TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION. IT IS PAST TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED, AS IT HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES BY OTHER GMC ACADIA OWNERS AND IS ON RECORD WITH THE NHTSA. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE A FIX IS RELEASED? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE THE NHTSA ACTS ON THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT?

THE HORN IS VERY HARD TO HONK. IT TAKES MY WIFE BOTH HANDS TO ACTIVATE THE HORN. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE BEEN BACK AND FORTH WITH A GM REPRESENTATIVE FOR ABOUT 5 MOTHS AND HAVE GOTTEN NOWHERE. THEY APPARENTLY DO NOT SEE THIS AS A SAFETY CONCERN. I DO. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED THE HORN, BUT THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT. WE CHECKED 3 OTHER ACADIAS ON THE LOT, AND THEY ALL HAD THIS PROBLEM.

HORN WILL NOT HONK UNLESS EXCESSIVE PRESSURE IS APPLIED. IT TAKES 2 HANDS TO HONK THE HORN. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HORN THAT REQUIRED MORE THAN 1 FINGER TO HONK.

I BOUGHT A NEW 2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI THE END OF FEBRUARY AND THE NEXT DAY FOUND OUT THAT THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. THE HORN IS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH AND REQUIRES EXTRA PRESSURE WITH BOTH HANDS AND ARCHING MY BACK AGAINST THE SEAT TO TRY AND MAKE THE HORN TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERS 3 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS AND IT IS NOT FIXED. THERE ARE ONLY 644 MILES ON THIS NEW SUV AND MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN WITH NO HORN. *TR
