When I’m driving a warning comes on my DIC screen that says “ACTION REQUIRED STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE”. The AC does not work and the temp gauge goes to cold with the radiator fan blowing at full speed. My car has done this since I purchased it used in 2019 and when I call dealer they say there is no recall and $1200-1800 to replace a sensor and thermostate. I have not had the issue fixed yet.
There is a continuing issue with the shifter causing a "Shift to Park" message that is resulting in the vehicle electrical system not turning off. This is causing the vehicle to drain the battery and not able to lock the vehicle while the "Shift to Park" message is displayed on the instrument panel. Concerned not only what is mentioned above but mainly concerned in not knowing if the vehicle is truly in park that may cause the vehicle to roll.
The contact's boyfriend owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked abnormally while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure; however, the mechanic stated that the failure was related to the transmission. The contact called two local dealers about the failure, and both stated that the vehicle could not be serviced in the near future. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

Driving down the street and I heard a extremely loud drop. The transmission went out with no warning or even indication of trouble. The vehicle ran very smooth until that point.
When I shift my car to park, it doesn't register that it is in park. It won't let me shut the car off. I can move the gear shift around a bit and it will eventually say it is in park. It can take sometimes up to 10 minutes for me to be able to shut off my car. I have read that this is a known issue and there was a recall, but my vin number was not included for some reason? The issue started about a month ago and has been continually getting worse.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle had to be turned on and off approximately 2 - 3 times to place the gear shifter in park(P), for the transmission to remain in park(P). The message “Shift to Park” would be displayed on the instrument panel. The failure was intermittent at first, but since started occurring more frequently. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,587.

I have gotten a alert on my vehicles dashboard after parking saying "shift to park" my car won't turn off until I can wiggle the shifter just right or have to take it out of park, back to drive back to park. I didn't have my radio on once and I didn't notice it wasn't all the way off and my battery went dead.
The transmission failed at 90k miles, causing shuddering and stalling on acceleration. This has occurred several times on major highways and is very dangerous.

Drive shaft has excessive play
The vehicle would not recognize the truck was shifted to park. The gear shift was replaced in 2024 and the same problem occurred 9 months later. The first GMC repair location did not connect the shifter cable correctly, causing the problem to persist. I had to pay twice to resolve an issue seen in many of the 2017 GMC Acadia models. This problem should be considered a recall, and charges for repair should be covered by GMC.

The vehicle keeps shaking specially at the first and second gear, up to 40miles/hr and at any up hills roads. I took it to the mechanic and he said that it’s an issue in the transmission and needs to be replaced. Also the engine fan randomly turns on automatically, and a warning message stating “Steering assist reduced. Drive with care”

A couple of months ago, I tried to put my car in park and shut it off the same way I have for years. The car made a rapid alarm sound and displayed a SHIFT TO PARK message on my dashboard. In order to get the car to shut off correctly, I had to squeeze the button on the shifter and gently push forward and backwards until the car recognized that I was in park. This now happens approx. 1 in every 15 times I try to turn off my vehicle. When this happens, I do not know if my car is actually in park and this is just a sensor issue or if the car is in fact struggling to shift to park!? If that's the case, couldn't it roll into someone or some thing? I remember JEEP having this issue a few years back, where people were killed when their "parked" jeep rolled over them. I think a famous actor was one of those victims in his driveway. Has GMC ever released a statement as to why only some VIN #s are included in this recall, when MANY of us on here are experiencing the same issue??

Twice the shift to park function of the vehicle has failed, once in 2020 and again in 2025, it appear that there is a recall for the year make and model vehicle, but for some reason my particular VIN in not included in this recall. The recall needs to be expanded to address this safety issue.
Shift to park. Vehicle does not turn off when in park. This recall is in effect on other 2017 Acadias but for some reason ours is not under the recall. Had this issue in 2020 and it was repaired at our cost. It is now doing the same thing.
Shift to park on the dash display.
My transmission is burning on the inside with no warning or indication. Transmission fluid is black and burned. Experienced jerking and hesitation when gears are automatically shifting.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the "Shift to Park" message was displayed on the instrument panel while attempting to park the vehicle. Additionally, there was a constant beeping alert coming from the vehicle during the failure. The contact later discovered that the rear brake lights and reverse lights were illuminated during the failure. A local dealer was contacted about the failure and made an appointment for a repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle developed a major shudder and vibration from transmission. There are reports of the symptom in other complaints and a service bulletin released by GM for replacing the transmission fluid only(filter is internal and can only be replaced by removing and disassembling the transmission). When this malfunction is coupled with an EVAP sensor failure, loss of acceleration and engine stall occurs. The EVAP failure code did not appear for several weeks. I would suspect any type of engine miss will cause the same failure. Replacing transmission fluid does not remedy the severe shuddering from the vehicle.
Sudden onset of extensive shuddering/shaking when shifting gears.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that upon parking and turning off the vehicle, the message "Shift to Park" was displayed while the gear shifter was in park(P). The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle and shifting out of park and shifting back into park(P) several times, the vehicle responded as needed. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing, and the dealer charged a fee for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My car on has 54,000 miles on it. For the last two weeks it has started showing that it is not in park when it actually is and continues the warning until I have shifted back and forth at least 4-5 times to clear the message and then able to exit the vehicle. It will roll forward or back to some degree even though it seems to be in park but it messages that it is not. When calling our dealership they do not show a recall and state it will be $180.00 just to look at it, not counting repair for this. there have been no other warning in the system and no accidents at this time. I do have children that ride in this car and could cause a serious situation if the car were to roll or be in gear.
Transmission shutters, shakes and jumps while accelerating. Forward collision warning will come on at any point even if there is no vehicles in front of me. I have contacted GMC but was told that it’s a normal transmission issue
The "shift to park" warning light comes up every time I put my car in park. I have to move it back and forth multiple times to get it to acknowledge that its in park or the vehicle will not shut off. This is a dangerous situation in that the car could easily roll when I am not in it. I know that this is an ongoing issue with the 2017-2018 GMC Acadia and don't understand why GMC won't issue a recall for this. If this were to cause injury or an accident then they are 100% liable. I started having these issues about a week ago. My husband took it to the dealership and they told him that its not a recall or under warranty. I cannot afford to fix this myself at this point.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the gear shifter acknowledged while shifting to park and activated the Press-to-Start button to turn off the vehicle. The message to shift to park was displayed on the instrument panel while the gear shifter was already in park. The dealer was contacted and confirmed there was no recall on the VIN. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.

Car will not shut off. Shift to park problem
The transmission in the car failed. These failures are a known problem with this vehicle and while attempting to get assistance from GM, they refused to offer any assistance, compensation or otherwise. I understand the transmissions in these models are part of a larger inquiry. I would like to be compensated for having to have the transmission completely rebuilt after less than 7 years of ownership. GM has known and willingly decided not to repair these. While outside of warranty, this is clearly a design and manufacturing flaw.
THE ERROR 'SHIFT TO PARK' CONTINUOUSLY SHOWS UP ON THE DASH AREA AFTER I HAVE SHIFTED TO PARK. ALL ELECTRONICS THAT I CAN SEE STAY ON. I AM NOT SURE IF OTHER ELECTRONICS THAT I CAN'T SEE STAY ON. THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF WITH THIS MESSAGE LIT, BUT I CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS.
While parking, cannot turn off the vehicle because of a warning to shift the transmission to park, even though the shifting mechanism is in the park position. Happens very frequently where sometimes up to 10 minutes trying over and over to safely park the car. Has been happening for all of 2024 but getting increasingly more difficult to park.
The car will not shift into park from drive. When trying to park I have to shift from drive to park several times before it will finally go into park. It is getting worse.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, with the shift to park message was displayed. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to shut off when the contact attempted to engage the parking brake. The contact forcefully engaged the parking brake to shut off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

Violent shifting in the transaxle when vehicle is shifting between lowers gears. Transaxle causing a shuddering vibration on inclines. It feels like the engine is misfiring, but it is the torque converter/transmission/transaxle failing.
Many times after shifting the car into park, a message is displayed saying that the car needs to be put in park. It takes many time of turning the car on and off and moving the shift back and forth in order to get the message off and get the car to shut off. I notice that some 2017 and 2018 Acadia models have received recall notices addressing this problem. Our VIN number does not show up in the recall notices. Is there a reason why our car would not be covered as we have the same issue as cars that have received recall notices. Any help that you could provide would be very much appreciated. It is a very frustrating problem.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and shifting to park(P), the vehicle failed to shut off when the START/STOP button was pressed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were contacted regarding the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 36,000.

I was traveling at the posted speed limit of 80 mph on [XXX] in South Dakota at [XXX] and the GMC Acadia was working without any issue when all of a sudden various warnings flashed on the dashboard with one of them being power saver mode engaged. Within about 3 minutes various other warnings flashed and the vehicle motor turned off along with all of the electrical systems. Luckily, I was able to maneuver the GMC Acadia to the shoulder of the highway safely. The vehicle would not start and for about a minute or so we were trapped in the Acadia. We could not unlock the doors or wind down the windows until I pressed the start/stop bottom several times. Onstar did not work either. Once we could get out of the Acadia, my wife called 911 and in roughly 20 minutes or so, a police officer arrived at our location. We also called AAA and had a tow truck take the broken down GMC Acadia to a garage for repairs. It turns out that the alternator went bad and rendered our GMC Acadia useless in roughly 3 minutes from the initial warning. There was absolutely none of the tell tale warnings of a bad alternator. We did not see or observe any dim lights, hesitating starts or any other things associated with a bad alternator prior to the 3 minute warning before the vehicle completely was inoperable. We are very lucky to be alive. If [XXX] was more congested with traffic at the time of this incident, we might have been serious injured if not killed. IMO this GMC Acadia is a death trap. This vehicle warns the driver when the key fob’s battery is low many weeks before it needs to be replaced. It should warn you more than 3 minutes if not several hours prior to the vehicle being completely immobilized. It should be noted that the check engine light came on several hours before this incident and I called Onstar and they ran the diagnostics and returned a P0420 code which is related to emissions. The check engine light turned itself off about 1 hour before incident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMAT
For over 2 years now I continue to receive "shift to park" message when I am already in park and trying to turn off vehicle. I can't shut off and have to shift to reverse and/or drive then back to park several times or shove the gear shift towards park for it to finally detect I am in park. I have been setting parking brakes out of fear vehicle will roll due to this issue. Yet, even with all my maintenance, if it doesn't happen during oil change or tune ups dealer nor repair shops aren't diagnosing and issue.
I don’t know specifically what component but feels like drive stuff. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. Driving during acceleration while entering highway vehicle started to surge or shutter almost total loss of vehicle acceleration and slowed down almost causing the vehicle behind me to hit rear of my vehicle. Mechanic says transmission issue and can be reproduced at times. Symptoms are gradually getting worse. No light other than tire pressure sensor.
This model is know for transmission shudder and you put out a memo. I brought the car back under warranty and said it was fine. Now it needs what the memo said and torque converter. Car is out of warranty and they want to charge full price. There should be a recall on this model
2017 GMC Acadia "shift to park" known failure. When you place the vehicle in the park position, mechanically it seems to be in park but the control says shift to park. When traveling long distance from home you can find yourself in a position where you cannot leave your car. You cannot lock it or turn it off properly. This is an ongoing problem known to GM and listed in many Technical bulletins including Bulletin No. 19-NA-206 date September, 2019. A recall should be issued for this problem. We found ourselves stranded hundreds of miles from home with a vehicle we could not shut off or secure. This may cause you to leave your car unattended, unlocked and running if you cannot get it to park and shut down.
Car displaying "shift to park" when in park. This has already been addressed once during my ownership. The Shifter Assembly was replaced. Car will not turn off with "shift to park" alert. It is now doing it again. This is a well known issue.
Incident: the drivetrain shudders and experiences hesitation while attempting to accelerate, and car surges forward when breaking due to what seems to be an issue with the tranmission. This present concerns with potential stalling while driving or the car surging into other vehicles. No indicator lights or error codes are displayed. The presence of this problem in multiple GM vehicles is confirmed by service bulletin 18-NA-358. The safety concern related to this defect should warrant a manufacturer recall to fix the know n defective parts. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. Will request to retain defective parts for inspection upon repair.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that upon reaching her destination and shifting the vehicle to park, the vehicle failed to recognize that the gear shifter was in park(P). As a result, the vehicle displayed a warning message reading, "Action Required - Please Shift to Park," and the contact was unable to lock the doors until the failure was resolved independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.

Vehicle frequently shows the error "Shift to Park" when I attempt to turn off the car after it is placed in park - which is confirmable via the instrument panel. The vehicle electronics will not turn off until the error is cleared. At times I cannot clear the error and I've had to set my parking brake and leave the car electronics running while I go into a store, which leaves car unsecured and drains the battery. The car has gone into my local GMC dealer for repairs. The first time I took it in (August 2020), I was 365 miles outside my warranty and GMC refused to pay for the repairs. The dealership felt certain a recall would be issued and suggested I have harness switched which they admitted was a band-aid fix and that it wouldn't fix the issue, but it would allow a period where the error disappears (which it did) - until a recall is issued. The Shift to Park error reappeared about 1.5 years later. I took my Acadia back to the dealership and was told they could not replicate the error and therefore there was nothing they could about it. The error is happening much more often and I've scheduled another repair appointment to address the problem.
There's a shuddering, clanking sound coming from the torque converter when the engine shifts gears at 25-35 mph. I also noticed that it happens when it transitions from 4 cylinders to 6 cylinders. There's a sweet spot somewhere in there. It has also happened on the highway from 65-75 mph. This also happens when it's switching from 4 cylinders to 6 cylinders.
There is a big time shudder and the dealer will not believe me because it doesn’t do it for them. They did admit there is a problem but won’t fix it. I did the transmission fluid exchange like they said and still the problem. I see service bulletins for it but no recall. It’s is now out of warranty and I will have to pay for it. This is not right
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and accelerating to 25 MPH, the vehicle jerked and downshifted, and decelerated to 17-18 MPH. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times while driving. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 5 MPH and attempting to come to a complete stop, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle shuddered and failed to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal harder, and the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving, causing him to shift to neutral(N) while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the diagnostic test codes: P0010, P0016, P0018, and P0507 were retrieved. The mechanic determined that the engine and an unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Two unknown dealers were notified of the failure and informed the contact the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

I have a 2017 GMC Acadia with what I call a "Shift to Park" issue. This originally showed up with about 27,XXX miles on the car. It was repaired by the dealer on 9/25/2019. It worked perfectly until it started back up about six weeks or so ago with approximately 57,XXX miles on the car. I was told when it was originally fixed that they knew the issue and had an earnest fix. Not they want >$500 to fix a problem that they were supposed to fix the first time. Here is the issue. When you shift to park, and try to turn the car off, you get an error message that you need to "shift to park". I assume that the car is in park, but not sure with this warning message. You have to start it back up multiple times and play with the shifter. The other option is to let the warning keep flashing and wear the battery down. I have replied the battery on this car two times. When researching this issue on the internet, I see that there are several class action lawsuit for this issue so GM is well aware of the issue. They have apparently figured out the issue because it only affected the 2017 and 2018 Acadias from what I can tell. AS you can tell fro the mileage, this car has low annual miles and ha always been serviced by a GM dealer.
This is a known issue with GM 2016-2019 various models including my 2017 Acadia . the shift mechanism does not know that it is in Park position and so indicates "shift to park" on dashboard lights. Therefore ignition switch stays on and accessories that are on will run battery down in a couple of hours. Sometimes the engine will not cut off until you turn it on and off many times. The dealer estimates cost to fix of between $500 and $700. They want an additional $125 for diagnosis, which they already know problem. I found the Service Bulletin on it (19-NA-206) which calls for $42.43 in parts and 1.4 hrs labor. Many people are being ripped off on this problem, which should be a manufactor's recall ! They continued to use defective parts for years after they were aware of this hazard. Please HELP ! I don't think that I should have to pay for this repair!
My Wife and I purchased the 2017 GMC Acadia All Terrain in August 2017. It always had some low gear hard engagement issues. It also had issues of not locking into park when placing in Park. If we released and re-shifted it would engage. On two occasions we had the GMC dealership Durand GMC Leominster MA. check the transmission. Around 34,000 miles and again around 55,00 0 miles On both occasions they claimed they could not recreate the incident I complained about. I told them I believed that to be impossible as it was common, especially going up hill. The service manager was adamant that their was no issue. As I was close to my powertrain warranty expiring I asked again with the same response. In May we started having serious transmission slippage, It became dangerous so we took it to Durand and they found a hole in a fluid tube caused by wear from a support clip. Their repair cost was high, I took it to a respected mechanic. He repaired the tube, unfortunately, the slipppage got worst and we will replace the transmission. My internet research shows many incidents like mine. I want to make it known that my vehicle concerns were swept under the rug. The shifter does not always engage and the car will remain in gear and can't be turned off. The safety issue is the vehicle rolls forward and backwards at times. I have hit my riding lawnmower under my carport because it continued to roll when in park. I have reported an issue in 2018 and in August 2019 a repair was performed and again in 2019 a gear shift assembly was replaced, It has been confirmed there is an issue with the shifter by a tech servicing my car when he drove it. It is at the dealer now 07-24-2023 to determine the issue and repair. Shift to park will come on inconsistently, however it will roll forward without the message.
Ever since I bought this vehicle 75% of the time I put the vehicle in park and turn the car off the “shift to park” warning light comes on and I have to jiggle the gear shift until it goes off and allows the car to turn off. This can take up to 10 min or sometimes starting the car and turning it off works but that is less times than not. This has been ongoing since I have owned the car.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the camshaft and timing chain however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was later taken back to the dealer who later replaced the transmission. After replacing the transmission, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. A diagnostic test was performed, and it was determined that the camshaft and timing chain was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 78,588. The VIN was not available.

When parking my car "The Shift To Park Light COMES On" cannot shut the car off- Not sure if its in park-You have to restart the car and keep trying to turn the car off--also all interior lights stay on--can not lock the car---This should be repaired by GM.
Shift to park error light comes on when you are parking your car--cannot lock the car and all lights stay on--takes 5 or six tries --happens every time you move the car
No incident yet. Although at 68,567 miles, it should not need J0780 Timing Cover Gasket replacement costing approximately $1847. Powertrain warranty was 5 year 65,000 miles. I purchased in April 2017, so April 2022 was 5 years. Unbelievable.
I started hearing noise coming from the front of my vehicle while driving. The noise would increase in volume with speed and decrease as I got slower. I had a mechanic look at it and he said my Front Right Drive shaft is going. I looked up recalls and this is an existing recall for my same vehicle but does not apply to the AWD versions. Please force the expansion of the recall, as a drive shaft should last the life of the vehicle.

At roughly 50,000 there is a transmission line leak in the vehicle. GM has already recalled 2018-2020 model-year GMC Acadia SUVs and other models for this problem due to risk of fire. Whether it is the same cause or not, such a problem leads to the same risk.
P0128 Apparently what happens when the temp sensor on the T-Stat housing goes bad it sends a signal to the ECM that the engine is overheating, causes the temp gauge to peg to "C", shuts down A/C Compressor Clutch engagement to not exacerbate the Overheat condition and super speeds the cooling fans. Of course it's a false flag warning and the engine isn't actually running hot. At the same time a signal to the ECM also tells the Power Steering Rack that it's Super Cold out and the lube in the steering system may freeze up causing loss of steering assist. NHTSA 17-NA-158 - MAY 2017 Needed to have Thermostat and Temperature sensor replaced. Was quoted by two dealers $1400-$1700. Very deceiving for GM to have SEVERAL "tech bulletins" advising their techs how to properly diagnose this common "error"... but it's not a recall so they won't foot the bill for what is clearly a defect. Car has only 59,400 / 2017 GMC Acadia All Terrain
My vehicle has serious issues that from my research seem to be a common problem/manufacturer defect experienced by other owners of this model. I believe the defect/issue is an electrical problem. While driving, the vehicle will often have problems using it's automatic transmission. It ranges from "rough" shifting (where the car jerks while shifting gears) to situation where the vehicle fails to shift gears completely leading to the RPMs shooting up. The cars power steering and traction control system also simultaneously fail. This leads to a dangerous situation when on highways etc This issue simultaneously causes all of the warning lights on the dashboard to light up while displaying the following messages on screen "Service stabilitrak" & "steering assist reduced -drive with care" & "service brake assist" & "service parking brake". The gauges also stop responding/reflecting accurate info when this happens. I have a video of what this all looks like. This has been on ongoing intermittent problem pretty much for the entire life of the vehicle. GMC informed me that they had never heard of this when I inquired about it a dealership but searching online makes it incredibly clear that this is an extremely widespread issue that they are aware of. I have also attached a file that has a list of all error codes detected by me for this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while shifting the vehicle into park and attempting to turn off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to turn off due to the gear shifter not recognizing that the vehicle was in park(P). There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pushed the Start/Stop button several times and then was able to shift the vehicle into park(P) and turn off the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and stated that vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance because the vehicle was not under warranty or recall. The failure mileage was 20,000.

When trying to place the vehicle in "PARK" the message is displayed to "SHIFT TO PARK". The shift lever is in the park position, but the vehicle CANNOT BE TURNED OFF while this message is displayed. The shift lever has to be moved back and forth multiple times, sometimes for several minutes before allowing you to safely shut down the vehicle and exit. This is a known issue for GMC vehicles, yet they tell me that my VIN doesn't show the vehicle is eligible for a recall for this exact issue.
After putting my Acadia in park the DIC shows that I need to shift to park and my internals won’t shut off. I have to wiggle the gear shift, turn the car on/off and I have also had to change gear and put it back in park before it would register it was indeed in park. Something needs to be done. I can’t leave my car in that condition without damage being done to my SUV. This happens ALL the time.
Purchased the vehicle in October 2017 with 7,408 miles on it. In 2019 started to receive a warning when the car was in park and I was shutting it off that said “shift to park”. The vehicle would not allow itself to shut off. I took it to our dealer and they replaced the shifter. The mileage at the time was 12,974. This week the “shift to park” message has now begun to pop up again and today I was unable to turn the vehicle off for quite some time as I had to keep shifting it in and out of park for the computer to respond. The car is shifted completely in to park and it shows a P on the console screen, however still is not recognizing that is in park. I only have put 15,000 miles on it over the past three years so there is no reason for it to have failed. It is scary and dangerous to be unable to shut your vehicle off. Especially when you are stuck in your garage or away from home with your little one.
When I place car into park I get "Shift to Park "message .... I am unable to turn off or leave my vehicle .... I am worried that as this problem has increased over the past 3 months that I will be stuck on the road or elsewhere .... the dealers say they are aware of the issue but no permanent fix or recall has been issued by GMC .... I understand that other owners have the same problem .... also with different years not just 2017 .... PLEASE help me with this problem as I always travel alone & am afraid of something terrible happening while on the road .... Thank You in Advance .... Laura Schwalbe .... [email protected]
The car says “shift to park” even when it has been put in park. The car could potentially not be parked and cause damages to people or objects. I’m not sure if it’s Been confirmed by dealer but plenty of people with the same car have reported this incident. This car was purchased within the last year clean title, no issue until the past couple weeks. Car is at about 44K miles, only driven on weekends and occasionally to the store during the week 5-10 mile radius.
the vehicle recently began displaying a warning stating the vehicle is not in park although the vehicle has shift in park. the car is not recognizing that the shifter is in the park position and will not allow the vehicle to turn off. this seems to be a common problem for this year and model.
When vehicle is put in park (dash reads park) the vehicle is not detecting the vehicle in park and vehicle will not turn off. It takes multiple attempt moving the gearshift into other gears and then into park before the vehicle registers a "park" and able to turn off the vehicle. If you take your foot off the the break, vehicle doesn't move when park gear not detected. Safety concerns include parking in garage and not realizing the vehicle has not turn off and possibility of CO2 or if a child would get in the vehicle possibly being able to engage the gearshift into reverse or drive. This happen 3 out of 4 times when placed in park.
The transmission began to shutter/shake while trying to accelerate. Transmission slips occurring frequently causing the vehicle to not propel forward while driving causing huge risk while driving.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle decelerated independently. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond. The parking brake warning light illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted into park(P) however, the “Shift to Park” message was displayed. The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth and then shifted into park(P) before the proper gear was recognized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a wiring harness failure. The dealer replaced the wiring harness; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was approximately 18,600.

Shift to park issue; intermittent issue. Shows that car is not in park when gear shifter is in park position. Cannot shut off or lock vehicle while this is displayed. Must constantly put car in gear then in park, attempt to shut off, and retry multiple times.
Previous complaint of Shift to Park on 06/13/19 VOQ 11219862 at mileage 36270. On 12/5/21, approx miles 62099 same problem with Shift to Park. Was scheduled for service on 12/06/21 at Adams Buick GMC in Richmond, KY and mentioned the problem and previous complaint. Was told that it had been over a year ago but that they could fix it and charge me $152 for part & $315 for labor. It was less that 26000 miles driven since the last issue. After last complaint, the dealer contacted GMC and the part was replaced at no cost under bulletin for concern # 5 145420 and they replaced the transmission control assembly. This is an ongoing problem with GMC and I don't think that every 26000 miles I should have to pay to replace the same part when GMC knows it is a problem by the numerous complaints. In fact while I was getting my vehicle serviced, I spoke to another lady there who had the same problem with her vehicle. Had I not caught the message, I probably would have had to replace my battery or my vehicle could have rolled into the house. There were no warning lamps or messages prior. GMC needs to step up to the plate and issue a recall because they have numerous vehicles with the same problem. My vehicle has undergone this malfunction twice and I find it unacceptable and know that I can't afford to pay $467 every 26000 miles for an issue that GMC is clearly aware of but won't address because no one has been killed by the issue as of this date to my knowledge, but it's going to happen sooner or later if the issue is not addressed properly.
When the placed in park, the vehicle does not recognize and will not shut off as there is a message that the car in not in park, when it is. This happens frequently. I am unsure if, although I've placed in park, the car itself recognizes that. There are times where for several minutes I cannot turn my car off even after shifting in and out of park.
My 2017 keeps having transmission issues. At the dealership the transmission fluid is burnt. The 2017 GMC Acadia limited has the same issues with the engine as the standard 2017 GMC Acadia
This vehicle has twice had parts replaced for the "Shift to Park" issue detailed in GM TSB 19-NA-206. The first incident was in April 2019, and it was repaired under warranty at about 24,800 miles. The second incident was this past week at about 50,800 miles, and this repair cost almost $800 to fix. I contacted GM customer support and was told that I could not get any reimbursement because there was no special coverage or recall for this known problem. This is completely unacceptable, since the problem is clearly a defect in parts manufacturing or assembly, and it renders the vehicle completely unusable since it is impossible to turn the car off when the car does not recognize that the shifter is in park. This is a safety issue because the driver needs to be certain whether or not the vehicle is securely parked before leaving the vehicle.
I have experienced the same problem as a multitude of Acadia owners as is well publicized via the Internet and class action lawsuits, which are now beginning initiation. My dealership tells me they have a lot of customers with the same problem which usually starts when the vehicle has around 15K miles on the odometer. The problem is the Intermittent Shift to Park display on the Information Center. It tells me that the shifter is not in park position when I go to turn the engine off, but it really is in position. When it happens I cannot turn off the automobile without restarting it. Sometimes it will turn itself off after a few seconds without any intervention on my part, sometimes more, sometimes after I jiggle the shift lever, but many times I have to restart the engine one or more times to turn the vehicle off. If the system can't be sure if I'm truly in Park position, how can it be sure that the lever is really engaged which would enable the car to roll away. I have had it back for repair service twice during the bumper to bumper warranty period to resolve the issue based on GMC guidance. That service tends to resolve it for a while but it always comes back again after a period of time. The last time I was told a jumper was installed so I should never get the problem again but it has returned and have had quite a few occurrences over the past two months. There is absolutely no pattern to the problem. What is really frustrating me is that I recently took it back again (after my bumper to bumper warranty was over) and they tell me there is another service bulletin from GMC which says the original shifter cable is too short and they need to install a longer one. Now they want me to pay $375 to install the new cable which is WRONG WRONG WRONG in order to resolve a GMC safety issue which was the result of an original design issue by GMC. I refused as this must be covered by GMC and should be the subject of a government mandated safety recall.
SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY ACADIA IN MAY OF 2018, IT STARTED DISPLAYING A SHIFT TO PARK WARNING WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY. WELL ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME IT'S WORSE. IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES AND TRICKS TO GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE IT'S IN PARK AND ALLOW ME TO SHUT THE CAR OFF - WHEN THE WARNING POPS UP IT WON'T ALLOW THE CAR TO POWER OFF SO ALL THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 79,000 MILES AND THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY ONCE THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT'S A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE GIVES A 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING ON DASHBOARD AFTER VEHICLE IGNITION BUTTON. THIS WARNING SHOWS UP EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED TO SHUT OFF. IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES AND TRIES TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY AND THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL WAY OF GETTING THE MESSAGE AND VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IS BY WIGGLING OR SHAKING THE GEAR SHIFTER UNTIL IT GOES AWAY. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE FOR CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL WITH THE VEHICLE NOT REGISTERING THAT IT IS IN PARK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLE ISSUE FURTHER IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVE HAD THE SAME SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AND HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLE ROLL ON IT'S OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED BUT UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED I AM BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE COMES UP RANDOMLY, WHEN PARKING VEHICLE. HAD ELECTRICAL HARNESS REPLACED IN 2019 FOR THIS PROBLEM, THEN HARDLY DROVE IN 2020. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THIS CAR HAS BEEN GOING OFF AND ON SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2017. EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY INITIALLY CLAIMED THE SENSORS WERE UNPLUGGED AS A RESULT OF MOVING THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH. NOW THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WANT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY SENSOR. ADDITIONALLY, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE IS OCCURRING. THIS IS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO PARK, HOWEVER, AN ERROR INDICATOR DISPLAYS SAYING THE CAR NEEDS TO BE SHIFTED TO PARK TO TURN OFF, EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN PARK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE MANIFOLD 2 YEARS AGO AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS RESURFACING.

SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE - WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK AND SUBSEQUENTLY TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WILL SHOW A NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH SAYING 'SHIFT INTO PARK' AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE SHIFTER IND THE PARK POSITION, WILL NOT TURN OFF AND WILL ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL FREELY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MULTIPLE REASONS. FIRST, THE VEHICLE WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION CAN ROLL FREELY. SECOND, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF AND ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO RUN, THEREBY RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO SHUT DOWN.

TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAD ALL COMPONENTS REPLACED, HOWEVER THEY INFORMATION ME THAT THIS WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE PARTS ARE MADE INCORRECTLY, SO UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT SOME POINT. MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE ACADIA IS WHEN YOU ARE IN CRUSE CONTROL, THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY APPLY THE BREAKS (ABRUPTLY AND HARD) FOR NO REASON. LOUIS, MO 63132) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT GEAR AND WIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.THE VEHICLE WAS IN PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND THEREFORE WILL NOT LET ME LEAVE THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND SHIFT BACK-AND-FORTH FROM DR. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME, FIXES IN MARCH 2019. NOW HAVING SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I PUT THE SUV IN PARK I GET AND ERROR MESSAGE 'SHIFT TO PARK'. ACCORDING TO GMC THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BUT NO RECALL. OF COURSE DEALER WILL NOT COVER COST SINCE IT WAS REPAIRED OVER A YEAR AGO. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY ALREADY SO I ALREADY PAID OVER $330 TO HAVE REPAIRED ONCE. GMC WILL OFFER NO HELP. SOMETIMES TAKES ME AS MANY AS 10 TIMES TURNING VEHICLE ON AND OFF BEFORE I CAN GET THE VEHICLE TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE.

MY 2017 GMC ACADIA WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT HAS BEEN SAYING 'SHIFT TO PARK' WHEN I TRY TO TURN IT OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN OFF AND BE SAFELY IN PARK IS TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN IT BACK ON SHIFT TO REVERSE OR DRIVE MOVE THE CAR A FEW FEET AND TRY AGAIN. IT CONTINUES TO TAKE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE ONLY THING TO 'FIX IT' GMC CLAIMS IS TO REPLACE A LEVER AND THAT TAKES 5-6 HOURS AT 135$ AN HOUR AND 2 150$ PARTS. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU EITHER CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND HAVE IT SAFELY STUCK OR IT WILL CONTINUE TO STAY ON AND POSSIBLE ROLL AWAY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FORUMS AND POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT 'FIXED' STILL HAVE ISSUES. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GMC NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT HOW TO FIX IT AND DO AN EMERGENCY RECALL IF THEY CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT THEN THEY NEED TO FULLY RECALL THE 17-18 ACADIAS AND PROVIDE REPLACEMENT VEHICLES AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY RISK. I CANNOT BE STUCK AT A PLACE DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC BECAUSE MY CAR IS STUCK DUE TO AN ISSUE THAT GMC CANNOT FIX.

WITH VEHICLE STATIONARY, I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN "PARK" AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION SCREEN DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO FULLY SHUT DOWN (HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON) EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFT KNOB WAS IN "PARK" AS WELL AS "P" DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN. THE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS INOPERABLE AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE AT RISK OF ROLLING AWAY. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED WITH THE VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM IT.

MY ACADIA WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN PLACED IN PARK. THERE IS A SENSOR ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT TELLS THE VEHICLE THAT IT IS IN PARK AND ALLOW IT TO TURN OFF. I HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY, NOW IT HAS HAPPENED FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT IS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE THAT WARRANTS A RECALL. IF THE VEHICLE HAPPENS TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WITH THIS WARNING, THE ELECTRONICS STAY ON AND DRAIN YOUR BATTERY UNLESS YOU START THE VEHICLE AND THEN SHIFT FROM PARK TO OTHER GEARS AND BACK TO PARK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS WILL SHUT OFF. THE CAR WOULD BE STATIONARY. I WOULD PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN TURN OFF THE CAR. THE DASH DISPLAY SHOWED AN ERROR THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS. THE CAR WOULD NOT COMPLETELY TURN OFF BECAUSE OF THIS. I TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF PARK. ONE TIME, THE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED ON AND OFF 10 TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY REGISTERED THAT IT WAS IN PARK. THE CAR IS STATIONARY THE WHOLE TIME DURING THIS PROCESS. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD REGISTER THAT IT WAS INDEED IN PARK AND COMPLETELY TURN OFF AS DESIRED. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS DRIVEN AND THEN PARKED. I CALLED MY LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING THIS. THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR SAID THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER/TRANSMISSION CONTROLLER ON ACADIAS OF MY YEAR MODEL. MY DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED PARTS/HARNESS IN STOCK SO WE HAD TO WAIT A WEEK AND A HALF FOR THEM TO BE DELIVERED. THE DATE LISTED IS THE DAY I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE ISSUE DESCRIBED HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR 3-4 DAYS PREVIOUS TO CALLING. ATTACHED IS A PORTION OF MY RECEIPT PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE.

SHIFT TO PARK - THIS IS ROUND TWO (2) THAT THIS HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED!! THIS IS ROUND TWO (2) OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL REPLACEMENT - WHICH WORRIES ME THAT OTHER TRANSMISSION ISSUES WILL OCCUR. ACADIA IS "CLEARLY" IN PARK - AND YES I LEARNT YOUR LITTLE TRICK TO WIGGLE AND OR TOUCH THE +/- BUTTON ON TOP OF THE SHIFT STICK TO GET IT TO COMPREHEND THAT IT IS INDEED IN PARK. BUT THAT ONLY WORKED A TOTAL OF THREE (3) TIMES. FIRST TIME WAS IN A PARKING LOT THAT THIS OCCURRED - SECOND TIME IN A GAS STATION. HAVING TO RESTART YOUR VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF 10 TIMES JUST FOR IT TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS IN PARK - IS HUMILIATING TO SAY THE LEAST WHEN YOU ARE AT A GAS STATION AS WELL AS FRUSTRATING. YOU NEED NOT TO IGNORE THIS - AS THE FIRST TIME I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. SECOND TIME - I WAS ABLE TO - HOWEVER IF ONE IGNORES IT WILL END UP DRAINING THEIR BATTERY AND/OR ROLLING IF YOU ARE ON AN INCLINE. KINDLY STEP FORWARD AND FIX THIS ISSUE IF YOU WANT SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. AS I CAN PUT ONLY ONE DATE - I PUT THE FIRST ONE 01/13/2020 SECOND REPLACEMENT 03-21-2020 27,109 MILES. THANK YOU.

RANDOMLY WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO PARK AND THE BUTTON IS PRESSED TO STOP THE ENGINE A MESSAGE COMES UP ON DASHBOARD STATING SHIFT TO PARK... SOMETIMES YOU CAN WIGGLE THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY, SOMETIMES YOU MUST START, MOVE, AND STOP THE CAR AS MANY AS 15 TO 20 TIMES TO GET THIS TO GO AWAY. IF YOU EXIT THE CAR WHY THE MESSAGE IS ON DASHBOARD, THE HORN WILL CHIRP AT YOU, AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT STABLE, IF IT IS ON A DECLINE IT WILL ROLL, THE RADIO STAYS ON ETC. I FOUND A GM SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS, STATING THE PART TO BE REPLACED FOR THE ACADIA WAS 13528228. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPT WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALER TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT. IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE VERY DANGEROUS GIVEN THE RIGHT SCENARIO, IF A KID OR SOMEONE HOPPED OUT OF THE CAR AND IT WASNT IN PARK. THE CAR HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT.

A WARNING SHOWS UP ON THE DASH THAT SAYS "ACTION REQUIRED, SHIFT TO PARK" EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN PARK. THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF DURING THIS WARNING, SO YOU HAVE TO SHIFT IT BACK AND FORTH FROM DRIVE TO PARK UNTIL IT FINALLY REGISTERS PARK. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS THE NEXT TRY, SOMETIMES IT WILL TAKE 50. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OCCASIONS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK ON A SLOPE THAT THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL, ONLY A FOOT OR TWO, BUT THEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON THE BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ONGOING ISSUES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE OF 2017. THE 'SHIFT TO PARK' PROBLEM HAD TO BE FIXED TWICE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES ITSELF FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS, THE HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN NEEDED IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM IT'S DANGEROUS, THE BATTERY HAS DRAINED AND LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED 4 TIMES, AND THE VEHICLE HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND IT ALMOST STALLS OUT. I ATTEMPTED TO WORK WITH GM TO HAVE THEM TAKE THE CAR BACK EARLY (LEASE) AND THE REQUEST WAS RECENTLY DENIED. THIS IS MY 3RD ACADIA AND IT BY FAR IS THE MOST DANGEROUS CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. I AM NOW READING ABOUT A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE, A DRIVESHAFT THAT MAY SEPARATE WHILE DRIVING, AND A FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL BRAKING CAPABILITY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE HAVING MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR AND I AM REQUESTING YOUR ASSISTANCE TO HELP ME WORK WITH GM ON A RESOLUTION. I ENTERED THE DATE THAT THE VEHICLE FIRST STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES, THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 20 INCIDENTS OVER A 2.5 YEAR PERIOD CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE OR LEAVING MY WIFE AND CHILDREN STRANDED.

2017 GMC ACADIA WOULD ISSUE A WARNING SAYING VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT TO PARK EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THIS VEHICLE DEFECT IS KNOWN BY GMC AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS. A LAWSUIT IS CURRENTLY PENDING REGARDING THIS ISSUE. GMC HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP AUGUST 2018 DUE TO THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2019. WHEN WE CALLED ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THE PRIOR WORK WASN'T COVERED AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE "KNOWN DEFECT" REPAIRED AGAIN.

WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO SHUT OFF MY CAR, IT BEEPS AND TELLS ME THAT I HAVE TO SHIFT MY CAR INTO PARK. (ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS ALREADY PHYSICALLY IN PARK)THIS TAKES ME, AT TIMES, SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. SOMETIMES I CAN WIGGLE THE SHIFTER, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND ON AND SWITCH I TO DRIVE AND REVERSE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT LETS ME SHUT OFF MY CAR PROPERLY SO I CAN EXIT. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR SEVERAL WEEKS AGO AND IT JUST STARTED. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM STOPPED AND TRYING TO EXIT MY CAR. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE TRYING TO GO INTO WORK (IT MADE ME LATE!), WHEN I WAS OUT OF TOWN (4 ATTEMPTS JUST TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT!). ONE OF THESE TIMES I'M GOING TO LITERALLY BE STUCK TRYING TO GET MY CAR SHUT OFF. MY CONCERN IS THAT ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS PARKED, IT MAY NOT ACTUALLY BE "LOCKED" INTO PARK AND COULD POSSIBLY STILL BE IN NEUTRAL.

I HAVE A 2017 GMC ACADIA SL-2 ALL TERRAIN WITH 16,000 MILES THAT WAS IN FOR SERVICE A MONTH AGO FOR THE 'SHIFT TO PARK' PROBLEM FOR 2 WEEKS. GM WOULD NOT REPLACE THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY INSTEAD A HARNESS WAS INSTALLED. ONE WEEK LATER IT WAS BACK IN FOR SERVICE AND HAS BEEN IN THERE FOR LAST 10 DAYS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO HAVE A LOANER WHICH I APPRECIATE BUT I WANT MY CAR REPAIRED. I AM TOLD THE GM STRIKE IS AFFECTING THE DELAY IN GETTING PARTS TO THE DEALER. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND ASCERTAINED THAT THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT SHIFT ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENTS. THE FIRST FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS PART NO. 84159722. THE SECOND REPLACEMENT NUMBER IS 13528228 WHICH REPLACES THE 84159722. MY CAR NEEDS PART NO. 13528228 SO WE HAVE NO FURTHER ISSUE WITH THE SHIFT TO PARK PROBLEM. (IF IN FACT THIS IS A 'FIX.')
WHEN THE CAR IS INTENTIONALLY STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE DASHBOARD SHOWS A WARNING THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. IT REQUIRES MOVING THE GEAR SHIFT IN AND OUT OF DRIVE UNTIL THE ELECTRONICS RECOGNIZE THE CAR IS IN PARK. UNTIL THEN, ALL THE CAR ELECTRONICS REMAIN ACTIVE. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED AN ALARM SOUNDS BECAUSE THE ELECTRONICS THINKS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. THE GMC DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT CLAIMS THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX IT ARE UNAVAILABLE. THIS FIRST HAPPENED OVER A YEAR AGO, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM, BUT CLAIMS THE PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE.

2017 GMC ACADIA HAS 'SHIFT TO PARK' ERROR FOR THE LAST 6 MTHS. WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE CAR IS IN PARK AND WILL NOT TURN CAR OFF COMPLETELY. IT HAS CAUSED OTHER ISSUES WITH THE CAR LIKE BATTERY/CAR HESITATING TO START IN THE MORNING. ALSO THE RADIO/BLUETOOTH NOT DISCONNECTING AFTER TURNING CAR OFF. YOU HAVE. THIS IS A LONG PROCESS TO GET THE CAR TO REALIZE IT IS IN PARK. AFTER TURNING CAR ON AND OFF, SHIFTING CAR OUT OF PARK AND BACK INTO PARK. AND ALSO WIGGLING THE SHIFT GEAR. THIS AFTER KNOWING IT IS AN ON HOING ISSUE FOR WELL OVER A YEAR IS STILL NOT A RECALL AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT MADE A FIX FOR THIS.

THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE COMES ON AFTER I PARK THE CAR. I HAVE TO WIGGLE THE GEAR SHIFT BACK AND FORTH TO GET IT TO GO OFF OR THE CAR STAYS ON ELECTRONICALLY. THE DOOR LOCKS GO ON/OFF (AND UP AND DOWN) WHILE DRIVING (PURPORTEDLY DUE TO THE CAR GOING IN AND OUT OF PARK WHILE DRIVING) WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY (47,000 MILES) MY DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BE $700-$800 TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH GMC HAS PUT OUT A BULLETIN TO TELL THE DEALERSHIPS HOW TO FIX IT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. IF THE CAR ISN'T READING IT'S IN PARK, IT COULD ROLL AND CAUSE INJURY AND DAMAGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED PRETTY REGULARLY FOR 2 WEEKS GOING ON 3 WEEKS.

I AM GETTING A MESSAGE SHIFT TO PARK! ON 2017 GMC ACADIA AFTER PUTTING MY VEHICLE IN PARK UNABLE TO LOCK CAR AND LIGHTS AND RADIO REMAIN ON. IT TOOK ME MORE THAN AN HOUR TO GET MY VEHICLE TO STOP DISPLAYING MESSAGE. I AM VERY CONCERNED AND APPALLED AT THE SAME TIME UPON INVESTIGATING I HAVE DISCOVERED GMC IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT. I REALLY WISHED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REVEALED AND I COULD HAVE CHOSEN ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT IS VERY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES MY VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS.
Mileage: 31,156
WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, AN ERROR IS DISPLAYED STATING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER IS IN P. IN ORDER TO GET THIS MESSAGE TO GO AWAY, I HAVE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER UP AND DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES. COULD TAKE UP TO 20 MIN TO GET THE ERROR TO GO AWAY. I CAN NOT LEAVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ERROR IS OFF BECAUSE THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY. I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLS A LITTLE MORE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET ERROR MESSAGE OFF. THIS IS CONCERNING THAT IT MAY NOT REALIZE ITS IN PARK AND ROLL INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH OR ROLL AWAY. I TOOK TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A 'KNOWN' ISSUE AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, NOR IS THERE A RECALL. I JUST PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR NEW TIRES BECAUSE GM KNEW THE TIRES PLACED WERE 'WEARING' TOO SOON BASED ON MILEAGE. NOW, I AM BEING TOLD I WILL HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $600 TO GET THIS FIXED. GM KNOWS OF ISSUES AND NOT FIXING THEM IS WRONG. THIS IS NOT A NEW ISSUE, HAS BEEN LISTED AS COMPLAINTS FOR THE PAST YEAR, YET GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX AND CONTINUE TO MAKE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. FRUSTRATING THAT I HAVE TO SPEND THE MONEY TO FIX AN ISSUE THEY KNOW ABOUT! THIS NEEDS PUSHED BACK TO GM TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. THE SHIFTER ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND FIXED.

2017 ACADIA IS DISPLAYING 'SHIFT TO PARK' MESSAGE WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AND SHIFT TO OTHER GEARS AND BACK TO PARK UPWARDS OF 5/10 TIMES PRETTY MUCH EVERY TIME I TRY TO TURN THE CAR OFF.
Mileage: 36,850
UPON TURNING MY IGNITION OFF, THE "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS, EVEN THOUGH THE DISPLAY SHOWS THAT I AM IN "P" AND THE BRAKE IS ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP,I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND POINTED TO THE MESSAGE ON MY DISPLAY. BEFORE THE TECHNICIAN EVEN LOOKED INTO MY CAR, HE ASKED "SHIFT TO PARK"? SO OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS GMC REPAIR CENTER. MY FRUSTRATION IS THAT IF IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT, WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED?

"SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR WHEN CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK. ISSUE STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO; HOWEVER, IT IS BECOMING WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. MOST OF THE TIME, PRESSING THE SHIFTER BUTTON IN/OUT WILL TURN THE CAR OFF BUT NOT IT CAN TAKE UP TO 5 MINUTES OF TURNING THE CAR ON/OFF AND SHIFTING GEARS TO GET THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK. (THE DASHBOARD DOES RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK WITH THE "P" BESIDE THE MILEAGE BUT THE SENSOR DOES NOT.) IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE CAR CAN NOT BE TURNED OFF AND LOCKED. DESPITE ONLY HAVING THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE COSTS NEEDS TO BE COVERED OUT OF POCKET SINCE IT WAS A LOANER.
Mileage: 15,000
I REPORTED A PROBLEM OVER A YEAR AGO, AND DESPITE SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER, THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHILE SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEARS. THIS RESULTS IN A VERY HARSH SHIFT. THE MAIN SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCELERATE, YOUR VEHICLE GOES INTO NEUTRAL AND YOU NEARLY STOP. NOT ONLY HAVE I BEEN SLAMMED INTO MY SEAT WHEN IT FINALLY CATCHES IN THE NEXT GEAR, BUT I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT'S "DOING WHAT ITS SUPPOSE TO".

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND THE ENGINE RAN FOR HOURS. EVENTUALLY, THE INTERNAL SYSTEM RECOGNIZED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND FINALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING TO ADDRESS THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 18-NA-297 ON DECEMBER 13, 2018. THE CONTACT CALLED NUMEROUS UNKNOWN DEALERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO TRY TO BUY THE PART MENTIONED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT THE PART WAS STILL ON BACKORDER. THE PART THAT WAS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER ASSEMBLY (NUMBER: 13528228). THE COST OF THE PART WAS LESS THAN $150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ITS INITIAL WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *TR

WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO SHUT OFF, THE ACADIA GIVES THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK". THE VEHICLE IS CLEARLY IN PARK AND I MUST START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND SHIFT TO REVERSE OR ANOTHER POSITION AND TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE VEHICLE AND KEEPS POWER TO THE VEHICLE (DRAINING THE BATTERY) UNTIL IT RECOGNIZES THAT IT IS INDEED IN PARK. THIS HAS CAUSED A STALL AND THE VEHICLE TO POSSIBLY STILL BE IN GEAR WHEN PARKED LEADING TO A ROLLING HAZARD. HAS TAKEN AS MANY AS 15 TIMES FOR THE VEHICLE TO REALIZE IT IS IN PARK. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A TSB (18-NA-297) REGARDING THIS ISSUE, BUT IS PLACING THE COST OF THE FIX ON THE CONSUMER. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT HAS STARTED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
Mileage: 37,000
WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT REGISTER AS BEING IN PARK. THERE IS AN INDICATOR ON THE GAUGE PANEL SAYING "SHIFT TO PARK." THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE ENGINE CANNOT BE TURNED OFF WHILE IN THIS CONDITION AND IT DOES NOT REGISTER THE TRANSMISSION AS BEING IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO PARK ONCE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED.
Mileage: 61,000
SHIFT TO PARK RECALL - THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY ACADIA WAS IN PARK AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND I GOT AN ERROR CODE THAT SAID ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON PUT IT IN DRIVE AND BACK INTO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF THE STOP THE BEEPING. I SPOKE TO FLEMINGTON GMC AND THIS ISSUE IS NOT A RECALL. THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME THE ERROR CODE READS ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK. WHICH CLEARLY MEANS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK IF IT'S TELLING YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN YOU ALREADY PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE CAR OFF USING THE START STOP BUTTON. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PHONE CALL FROM AMBER AT GMC AS I WAS SUPPOSE TO BE CALLED ON 9/3/19 REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

AT RANDOM TIMES, WHEN PARKING MY VEHICLE, AFTER PLACING IT IN 'PARK' AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, THE DIC WARNS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN 'PARK' EVEN WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN 'PARK'. I HAVE TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, SHIFT THE VEHICLE FROM 'PARK TO 'DRIVE' AND THEN BACK TO 'PARK', SHUTCTHE VEHICLE OFF AND THE WARNING ON THE DLC GOES AWAY. THIS IS STARTING TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN, EVERY 3-5 START-STOP CYCLES.

WHEN VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO PARK INFORMATION CENTER SAYS VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK AND VEHICLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I HAVE TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO GMC SERVICE AND THEY SAID IT WAS OKAY TO DRIVE IT AND TAKE IT HOME. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP THAT SAID IT WAS OKAY TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DIED SEVERAL TIMES AND WOULD NOT START. THERE IS A NATION WIDE PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL ANT THE SHIFTING NOT STAYING IN PARK.
I HAVE A 2017 ACADIA. WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE DASHBOARD SHOWS A WARNING THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK! IT SAYS I CAN'T TURN OFF THE CAR UNTIL THE CAR IS IN PARK, EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN PARK. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND THEY BOUGHT IN EXTRA PARTS TO REPAIR THE CARS THAT COME IN. THIS FIRST HAPPENED 6 MONTHS AGO BUT ONLY OCCURED ONE TIME, NOW IT IS CONSISTANT AND I AM ONLY 700 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY SO I AM STUCK PAYING FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM.

SHIFT TO PARK WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, IT SAYS SHIFT TO PARK AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO RUN AND HORN HONKS LETTING YOU KNOW YOU ARE EXITING THE CAR WITH IT RUNNING, AFTER PUTTING IT IN DRIVE, NEUTRAL, ETC AND SHIFTING IT BACK TO PARK, THE MESSAGE STILL DISPLAYS.
Mileage: 44,000
THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. IT KEEPS STATING THAT IT IS NOT IN PARK. HAVE MOVED SHIFTER BETWEEN GEARS REPEATEDLY, THE DASH DISPLAY SAYS IT IS IN PARK, THE CONSOLE SAYS IT IS IN PARK, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FLAT SURFACES, AND INCLINES. THE END RESULT IS A VEHICLE THAT THINKS IT IS ON, WONT LOCK DOORS, AND KILLS THE BATTERY DUE TO REMAINING IN THE ON POSITION.

2017 GMC ACADIA DISPLAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN ALREADY IN PARK AND DOESN'T ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF THE ELECTRONICS. PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED UNDER WARRANTY WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER IN JULY OF 2018. NOW EXACTLY 1 YEAR LATER, NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE IS HAPPENING AGAIN AFTER THE CONTROLLER WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR TO FIX THE PROBLEM. NOW THAT CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH ITS SUCH A COMMON COMPLAINT NOW THAT GMC IS AWARE OF, THE DEALER IS ASKING ME TO PAY OVER $500 TO FIX IT AGAIN. HOW DO I KNOW IT WILL FIX IT THIS TIME? THE LAST "FIX" ONLY LASTED A YEAR. GMC NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
Mileage: 45,500
A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE SHOWS UP AFTER I HAVE ALREADY PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE 53,500 MILES ON MY ACADIA AND HAD TO HAVE A NEW BATTERY PUT IN LAST WEEK. A GMC DEALERSHIP STATES THE PART TO FIX THE SHIFT LEVER IS ON BACK ORDER BUT THAT THEY HAVE HEARD THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2017 ACADIA. IT IS FRUSTRATING THAT GMC IS AWARE THERE IS AN ISSUE AND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LAWSUIT FILED REGARDING THIS HOWEVER THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED.
Mileage: 53,000
OUR ACADIA ON A 50% BASIS IS COMPLAINING TO THE DRIVER TO "SHIFT TO PARK". THIS IS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHIFTED TO PARK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORMAN GALE BUICK GMC (1247 NJ-10, CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ 07927, (973) 975-4039) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE. WHEN YOU PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK AND DISPLAYS ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO TURN IT OFF BECAUSE IT THINKS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK WHEN IT ACTUALLY IS. THIS WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY FOR ME IN 2018 WITH 14K MILES (REPLACED SHIFTER ASSEMBLY) AND NOW I HAVE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AT 39K MILES. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND HAVE THE OLD SHIFT ASSEMBLY (P/N 84159722) REPLACED WITH THE NEW SHIFT ASSEMBLY IT CREATED IN OCTOBER OF 2018 (P/N 13528228) WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT 14K MILES, IT WAS REPLACED WITH THE OLD PART NUMBER 84159722 WHICH IS DEFECTIVE AS I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AT 39K MILES. NOW MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I AM GOING TO BE EXPECTED TO PAY $700 TO HAVE THE NEW SHIFT ASSEMBLY REPLACED. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT WILL NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO TURN OFF THEIR VEHICLES ALL OF THE WAY, WHICH QUICKLY DRAINS BATTERY AND STRANDS THEM.
Mileage: 14,000
AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, SHIFTING INTO PARK AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS STATING TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE CAR IS IN PARK, BUT THERE MUST BE SOME TYPE OF SENSOR FAILURE. I AM PROHIBITED FROM COMPLETING SHUT DOWN OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I CLEAR THE WARNING MESSAGE. WHEN THIS ISSUE FIRST AROSE, I COULD "JIGGLE" THE SHIFTER A BIT, AND THE MESSAGE WOULD CLEAR. NOW, ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER, I NEED TO START THE CAR, MOVE THE SHIFTER BETWEEN GEARS, AND THEN BACK INTO PARK. AFTER 2 - 3 TIMES REPEATING THE PROCEDURE, THE WARNING MESSAGE USUALLY CLEARS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE. A NEW SHIFTER HAS BEEN ORDERED. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER.

WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE, AFTER SHIFTING TO PARK, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYS A WARNING SHIFT TO PARK AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON A CITY STREET, IN OUR DRIVEWAY, AND ALSO IN A PARKING LOT. THIS PREVENTED ME FROM EXITING THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES EACH TIME, WILL I CONTINUED TO RESTART THE CAR, SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANOTHER GEAR AND THEN RESHIFT INTO PARK.
Mileage: 17,800
WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO PARK TO TURN OFF MY CAR, IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND SAID TO PUT CAR IN PARK. I HAVE TO WIGGLE THE SHIFTER, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE WHEN MY CAR WAS IN AROUND 35,000 MILES. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY APPOINTMENTS THAT WEEK. I HAD TO GO TO CALIFORNIA THE NEXT WEEK. I WENT IN YESTERDAY, SINCE IT WAS OVER 36,000 MILES. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. I TOLD THEM THE SITUATION. SAID L HAD TO PAY $488.
VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. I KEEP GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE TO "SHIFT TO PARK" EVEN THOUGH I AM IN PARK, AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. I WILL HAVE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND PARK ABOUT 25 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL RECOGNIZE THAT IS ACTUALLY IN PARK SO I CAN TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND I AM TRYING TO TURN IT OFF.
Mileage: 9,000
WHEN PLACING VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNING OFF IGNITION, THE MESSAGE APPEARS 'SHIFT TO PARK'. EVERYTHING IS STILL ON IN THE VEHICLE, LIGHTS RADIO ETC. SOMETIMES I CAN WIGGLE THE SHIFT CONTROLLER AND IT WILL DISAPPEAR OR SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TURN IGNITION BACK ON AND TRY AGAIN TO TURN OFF. SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL TIMES TO GET MESSAGE TO DISAPPEAR.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AFTER DRIVING AND THE PLACED IN PARK, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THAT IS IN "PARK". THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR ACCESSORIES TO REMAIN RUNNING AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. FROM REVIEW OF INFORMATION, THIS IS A KNOW MANUFACTURING DEFECT FROM GM. WHEN GM WAS CONTACTED TO HAVE REPAIRED IN THE VEHICLE WE WERE INFORMED THAT THEY CANNOT WARRANTY THEIR VEHICLES FOREVER AND IT WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INAPPROPRIATE RESPONSE FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM BUT HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

I HAVE REQUESTED AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR REPAIR OF MY CAR 2017 ACADIA. SEVERAL CAUTION LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD COMES ON INCLUDING THE ENGINE SENSOR(MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP). WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT LOOSES POWER TO ACCELERATE. WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR STALLS. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH THE HIGHWAY AND CITY. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN TIMES WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT I HAVE FELT SOME VIBRATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR DASHBOARD GIVES OUT COMMANDS FOR PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AFTER IT IS STATIONARY.
Mileage: 30,100
WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED ON A FLAT SURFACE (INSIDE THE GARAGE, PARKING GARAGE, PARKING LOT), THE CAR WILL DISPLAY "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN IT IS ALREADY IN PARK. THE ACCESSORIES STAY ON UNTIL THE DRIVER IS ABLE TO GET THE CAR'S COMPUTER TO NOTICE THE CAR IS IN PARK.

YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON 6/4/18 AND WAS TOLD THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE HOWEVER THEIR ENGINEERS HAVE NOT FOUND A SOLUTION. THIS CURRENTLY IS FORCING ME RESTART THE ENGINE, PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE, SHIFT BACK IN DRIVE, TRY RE PARKING AND TURNING OFF AGAIN REPEATING THE PROCESS UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY TURNS OFF. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR AT 1500-1700 RPMS AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL YOU ACCELERATE AND MAKE THE VEHICLE GO BACK INTO V6 MODE. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON 2 OCCASIONS BUT WAS UNABLE TO. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND CATEGORIZED IT AS A VIBRATION, DRONE, FLUTTER OR BOOM NOISE INSIDE THE CABIN WHILE VEHICLE IS IN AFM V4 MODE. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.

MY 2017 GMC ACADIS 6 CYLINDER AWD HAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS THAT OCCUR AT 1400-1600 RPM AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS.IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION REFUSES TO SHIFT AND IT LASTS FOR UP TO A QUARTER MILE.VIBRATION IS MOST PRONOUNCED AT SPEEDS OF 55-60 MPH THE DEALER DIAGNOSIS SAYS IT IS FUNCTIONING NORMAL. THE STRUTS WERE REPLACE AT1390 MILES AND MOTOR MOUNTS ADJUSTED, PROBLEM REMAINS, AUTO BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR RECALL AS PER BULLETIN 17109 BUT IT STILL VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY. THE LEAD MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE AUTO ADJUSTS TO THE DRIVER AND SAID THE VIBRATIONS WILL STOP AT ABOUT 2500 MILES. THE CAR NOW HAS 2900 MILES AND IT STILL FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FAIL. THE VIBRATION IS UNCOMFORTABLE AND ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR IS SAFE IT DOES NOT FEEL SO.IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A VEHICLE TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WITH THIS CONTINUAL ERRATIC VIBRATIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED TO SHIFT GEARS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRUTS AND THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, FIELD TESTERS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERABLE. ON 2017 ACADIA WITH IT'S 6TXX TRANSMISSION, THE SHIFTS FROM 2-3 FEEL WEIRD (ESPECIALLY) WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. YOU GET A FEELING AS IF TRANNY TAKES MORE THAN USUAL TIME TO ENGAGE INTO 3RD GEAR, WHEN ALREADY DISENGAGED FROM 2ND GEAR. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT FEELING ONE MIGHT GET IF YOU MOVED FROM 2ND - NEUTRAL - 3RD GEAR. I STARTED EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE FROM APPROX. 5K MILES. THIS WOULD BE RISKY WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO MERGE INTO A YIELD OR CHANGE LANES AND THIS SHIFT OCCURS, YOU MOMENTARILY FEEL LOSS OF CONTROL. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND YOU WILL SEE FOLKS ALREADY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ON FORUMS. *TR
