Pulled into a parking space, put the car into park and tried to shut the car off. The warning system said I needed to shift to park. I was in park but could not shut the car off because the car thought I wasnt in park. Took 15 minutes of shifting from park to all gears and shaking the gear shifter before it finally let me shut the vehicle off. This is now the second time this has happened and ive had to have the same thing repaired. They are replacing the whole shifter assembly. Error reads SHIFT TO PARK. This is happening every few years now and at almost 1000 dollars to repair and only lasting a year or so, this is ridiculous.

GMC customer care representative & local GMC service department supervisor unable to help. 2017 Acadia Shift to Park message. It’s Difficult to turn the car off. The vehicle refuses to acknowledge the park position. Potential rollaway hazard. You may inspect. Took it to GMC service & confirmed it is a prevalent issue: Transmission control 13534320 = gearshift assembly & Jumper harness 84733196. This problem has been recurring for several years and I have problem solved how to shut the car off. GMC customer care rep said it’s an issue with all 2017 Acadias and tried to help. The system deemed it complicated case & escalated it to a Supervisor. She read a “customer care” script. After talking, she admitted that realistically GMC would not help. Yesterday, she advised me to file a complaint with NHTSA. I read that 2 other states Ohio & Tennessee won class action lawsuits because of the hazardous shift to park issue. If GMC issued recalls for 2017 Acadia shift to park then my 2017 GMC Acadia should have been included. I have been waiting for the recall for several years. GMC admits the problem is prevalent in 2017 GMC Acadias. Would you please issue a recall associated with this issue and link it to my VIN. Thank you.

SHIFT TO PARK Warning comes on & you can't lock the vehicle nor will it shut off completely. I've had to start & reverse several times before it engages/recognizes that it is in park. OBVIOUSLY this is a KNOWN issue by reading all the other posts relating to this. Please issue a recall....

The transmission in my 2017 GMC Acadia needs to be replaced. According to an article from Qulll&Arrow, LLP, transmission problems affected the 2017, 2018, 2019 and some 2020 models, however, my VIN number is not included in this. I am reporting this so it can be documented in case other owners come forward and a pattern can be established.

Shift to park. Car will not register as in park. Have previously had issue fixed and has started again. Was told this is a common reoccurance and would likely happen again over time even if I pay to have it fixed again. Yesterday I spent 45 minutes trying to get the car to turn off. If it says shift to park the car will not shut completely down and there is nothing that can be done. I spoke with gmc for 30 min and was finally told to unhook the battery because they have no way to make it shut off without going to a dealership which was closed at the time.

Cannot shift out of park. AC stops blowing also. Electric seats stopped working. Replaced BCM modular, solenoid , entire shifter and more. It worked for two months. -Happening again. Cannot shift out of park and the AC stops working. Seat are working at moment. It’s all intermittent. Currently dealer will not help me. No warranty anymore. Im on a site where thousands of gmc’s have this same problem. Im gonna have to bring back to another dealer but no one can figure it out how to fix this. I sent my last bill. I also had one before that with the shifter assembly and solenoid replaced. I cannot find at moment

Shifting car into park and the car does not register that it is in park. Display reads "shift to park" and lights do not shut off. Car will sit for 15 or more minutes before the car registers it is actually in park. I try to start it, shut it off, of start it, put in gear and then switch back to park and shut it off but still reads "shift to park". Battery is going to die if this keeps happening. GMC should be responsible for doing a complete recall on this, especially since they are aware of the problem. I have been stranded in parking lots waiting for this car to correct itself. this has been going on for over 4 years.

After shifting to park and attempting to turn off my vehicle, I receive an “Action Required Shift to Park” error message. I’m assuming the vehicle is in park but I’m not certain and worry about it moving or rolling. It is difficult to get it to turn off by jiggling the shifter and turning the vehicle on and off. At times, I am not able to get it off and then the vehicle will not lock and the battery goes dead. According to my VIN there is not an active recall but brief internet search states there has been numerous reports, recalls, and lemon law returns due to this.

The vehicle keeps shaking specially at the first and second gear, up to 40miles/hr and at any up hills roads. I took it to the mechanic and he said that it’s an issue in the transmission and needs to be replaced. Also the engine fan randomly turns on automatically, and a warning message stating “Steering assist reduced. Drive with care”

Shift to park. Dash stating "Shift to Park" when vehicle has been put in park, this results in being unable to turn vehicle completely off. Have to continually move gear shift and hope that it recognizes that the car is in park, this lasted over 30 minutes of trying to get the car to recognize that it was in park. Shift to park. Vehicle does not turn off when in park. This recall is in effect on other 2017 Acadias but for some reason ours is not under the recall. Had this issue in 2020 and it was repaired at our cost. It is now doing the same thing.

When putting my car into park and turning the engine off. The car will not turn off and displays a shift to park error. The car has to be turned back on and shifted to a different position then put back in to park to try to turn engine off again. Often times this needs repeated several times before the engine will actually turn off.

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while in reverse occasionally the vehicles rearview cameras do not function properly as they should. The steering assist is not fully functional warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,900. The contact referenced an unknown NHTSA campaign number as probable cause for the failure.

Within a day of taking possession of the car, September 20, 2024, with odometer reading 76,352 , warning message in instrument cluster appears stating action required “steering assist is reduced, drive with care”. Following day, A/C stop working while driving. When park, I can hear radiator fan, running full speed (louder than normal). While driving at night, headlights are not bright, specially the high beam. On September 23, 2024, took it back to dealership I purchased the vehicle. They have the vehicle in the shop to fix the issues. Vehicle was ready for pick up September 27, 2024. September 29, 2024. Message in instrument cluster screen re-appear stating “Action required, steering assist reduced drive with care”; check engine light came on, remote start key not working, A/C stop working again, radiator fan running full speed and loud , Headlights are still not bright, Infotainment screen glitching, will not stay in home button and making clicking sound. Went back to dealership so that they can fix it. Diagnostic code : P0128. They were able to have A/C working when I left the shop. and no messages on the instrument cluster. Following day, I have all the same issues I have before. My appointment to come back in to the shop to fix the thermostat issue I was October 10, 2024, on October 9, additional problems occur on top of the issue I am having. While driving and accelerating multiple lights on the instrument cluster screen appears on top of other issues and car decelerates. The check engine light came on, steering assist reduced drive with care , parking brake, car stability comes on and message stating engine power is reduced. This happened while driving on a highway at night on my way to work. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership..

My Gmc although not listed on the recall list has been effected by the "shift to park" issues that plague these vehicles. I was out of town and was unable to shift my vehicle safely into park without warnings that my vehicle wasn't secured. I had to disconnect my battery when I had to park in order to prevent roll back and endangerment to other. I took my vehicle for repairs and was told it was a common problem and nothing can be done but pay out of pocket. Why? It has the same issues as the others? Why can't I be recompensated for a recall issue? I have records to show it was the gear shift control and all other.

Shift to park had this repaired in 2019 issue has popped up again. After a while my vehicle will not turn off I will be unable to walk away from my vehicle until it recognizes I’m in park. Today (29 August 2024) I arrived to work and went to turn off the vehicle and it gave the shift to park warning. This vehicle has needed the drive shaft (what was replaced during the last event of this matter), electronic control module, transmission, and thermostat have all needed to be replaced all in the first 5 years of owning it. Bought new in February of 2017.

Bought vehicle used/as is from dealer about a month after air bag recall announced in 2023. Found out it is apparently illegal to sell a vehicle with an open recall. Dealer did not disclose the recall and I did not research unfortunately. It's been over a year now since air bag was recalled and still no fix and I live in a very hot state. Should never take this long to fix something so dangerous - FATAL. Lives are possibly at stake!!! Also had to replace temp sensor which cost about $1,000. A/C wasn't working properly. Mechanic said they had to replace the temp sensor. Research shows this is a known issue. Also have had to replace O2 sensors and might have catalytic convertor issue.

Shifter shifts to park but park will not engage. The vehicle chimes a warning that the vehicle is not in park. This was replaced by a GMC dealership under warranty in 2019. The problem has now came back. One of the parts ladies has the same year vehicle and replaced her in 2019 and just had to replace her again last month. The vehicle is out of warranty now and the dealership has not looked at the vehicle yet because my daughter drives it but she’s in college 5 hours away. There is no warnings both times this has happened.

I believe my vehicle has a software issue, the temperature gauge will read cold, I will get a “Steering assist reduced drive with caution” message, my A/C stops working, and the radiator fans come on full blast the moment you start the car because the temperature can not be read. I have read online forums where others are having this same exact issue. Resetting the codes seems to temporarily fix the issue, but it comes back within roughly 2 weeks. This vehicle has not even reached 60k miles yet.

This vehicle has a severe water leak after rain event from body. Leaks into electrical, floor boards, roof. Dealership not able to locate water leak location. Have been working on it going on a month. We recently purchased the vehicle used.

The shifter does not always engage and the car will remain in gear and can't be turned off. The safety issue is the vehicle rolls forward and backwards at times. I have hit my riding lawnmower under my carport because it continued to roll when in park. I have reported an issue in 2018 and in August 2019 a repair was performed and again in 2019 a gear shift assembly was replaced, It has been confirmed there is an issue with the shifter by a tech servicing my car when he drove it. It is at the dealer now 07-24-2023 to determine the issue and repair. Shift to park will come on inconsistently, however it will roll forward without the message.

When shifting into park, getting a Shift to Park error. Have to jiggle the shifter to get the car to turn off. Sometimes it won’t turn off. About a month after purchasing used in 2020 my wife put the car into park in our drive way, the car rolled backwards with my son in it and the passenger side door open. The passenger side door hit a tree and folded the door backward toward the body. Door had to be replaced. Luckily no one was injured. At the time we did not know about the shifter issue. Secondly our transmission has now gone out with only 80k miles on the car. This is another reoccurring issue that GMC has ignored with a know manufacturer default in the transmission.

Vehicle transmission does not recognize what gear it is in, a potential danger. Warning light appears randomly "shift to park" and vehicle will not shut down. Vehicle does not recognize that it is in park. Requires multiple attempts to manually shift gears. Multiple complaints for this issue found online. Contacted GM Customer Assistance and they are unresponsive to this problem. Shift to park error code along with several other error codes including no remote detected that have continually and intermittentantly appeared since my car was at 16 K miles. My car has been in the shop over 10 times and these problems continue to return. my car won't shut off correctly, and this drains the battery. On 2 different occasions I was locked inside my car, unable to start it. Both of those times the outside temperature was over 100 degrees, and I almost had to break my window to exit and survive. I frantically pushed several buttons, trying to start the car, and luckily something tripped so I could open my car. The dealership replaced my battery twice before 31 K miles. They have replaced 2 different fobs when the car didn't recognize them. The dealership has replaced the transmission control assembly, the body control module, the fuel injector, the immobolizer control module, the brake control module, and my car has currently been in the shop for over 3 weeks as they may also need to replace the instrument control module and HVAC module due to those error codes. My car is at 46 K miles and has been in the shop 3 different times since 39 K (less than 10 K miles) all for similar problems. Thankfully I bought the extended warranty that will expire in 2 years. Something is draining the battery and GMC cannot or will not address the problem. Vehicle went on fire in or near the engine compartment - the entire front end was burned and car is a total loss. I was in the vehicle driving home with my children (a 5 min drive from their school) and we smelled what we assumed was a a fire pit or fireplace burning nearby; we got out of the vehicle, within 90 seconds there were flames coming out of the hood. Car was well maintained and received nearly all service at the RVC GMC dealership it was purchased from. Vehicle was also still under the warranty we purchased.

I own a 2017 Acadia Denali (purchased 10-4-17) We started having trouble with the vehicle in that a message appeared saying to shift the car into park. It would shut off but the lights and radio would stay on and you couldn't lock the vehicle. I took it to Ferman GMC in Wesley Chapel on May 28th of 2019. Supposedly they could not replicate the issue. The problem continued and we took it in again on May 31st of 2022. Again, they couldn't replicate what we were encountering. Now it's getting worse, happens almost every time we use the vehicle. So back to Ferman yet again (Oct 12th 2022). Now they are aware of said problem (code is b000a park switch circuit open). At this time they installed an SL-N-SWITCH and N-HARNESS at a cost of $63.13. Then labor, shop fees and taxes brought the total to $760.91, out of my pocket for a known problem. We have also come across a class action suit identifying this as a problem. And a TSB is also out there titled 'Vehicle displays shift to park message on DIC when in park. Vehicle may not shut off when put in park or may not start". There is a NHTSA ID number for this issue: 11353147

The side detection alarms kept beeping regardless of any location on the road or in my own driveway. Now I have a "service side detection module failure" warning on the dashboard. Estimates on repair have been in the $800 range and after having spoken to many GMC owners, several have had the same problem. Some have made the repairs, others have not due to the cost.

Previous complaint of Shift to Park on 06/13/19 VOQ 11219862 at mileage 36270. On 12/5/21, approx miles 62099 same problem with Shift to Park. Was scheduled for service on 12/06/21 at Adams Buick GMC in Richmond, KY and mentioned the problem and previous complaint. Was told that it had been over a year ago but that they could fix it and charge me $152 for part & $315 for labor. It was less that 26000 miles driven since the last issue. After last complaint, the dealer contacted GMC and the part was replaced at no cost under bulletin for concern # 5 145420 and they replaced the transmission control assembly. This is an ongoing problem with GMC and I don't think that every 26000 miles I should have to pay to replace the same part when GMC knows it is a problem by the numerous complaints. In fact while I was getting my vehicle serviced, I spoke to another lady there who had the same problem with her vehicle. Had I not caught the message, I probably would have had to replace my battery or my vehicle could have rolled into the house. There were no warning lamps or messages prior. GMC needs to step up to the plate and issue a recall because they have numerous vehicles with the same problem. My vehicle has undergone this malfunction twice and I find it unacceptable and know that I can't afford to pay $467 every 26000 miles for an issue that GMC is clearly aware of but won't address because no one has been killed by the issue as of this date to my knowledge, but it's going to happen sooner or later if the issue is not addressed properly.

Vehicle was purchased used in June 2020 ISSUE #1 After shifting car into park, display will indicate P for PARK , but also says vehicle is not in park. Since you are not sure if it actually in PARK and to eliminate this display, you need to restart the vehicle, go thru the gears again and then back into PARK. This happens several times a week with having to restart and PARK again up to 10 TIMES before the vehicle will register it is in park. I have read there is a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue as well as a case to get GMC to issue a RECALL. This is a serious issue because you are unaware if the vehicle transmission is actually in PARK. Having to restart and continually shift to park is time consuming and quite frankly a nuisance. At this point in time, the only way of correction, other than RESTARTING UP TO TEN TIMES, is to click the gear shift several times after placing in park. This will work 5/10 times. ISSUE #2 - Vehicle does not always detect remote. Have replaced battery in remote 5 times and will last approximately 8-10 weeks. At times, when the vehicle has been driven and is placed into park, the display will read NO REMOTE DETECTED. Have also placed remote into pocket into console and will still receive the same NO REMOTE DETECTED. Although there is never any indication battery is low or dead on remote, this is also the only possible correction we have found. However, we do believe there must be another correction for this issue.

When you put the car in park it often won’t recognize it and will display a message on the console stating “shift to park”. When it does this you’re not able to turn your car completely off so you just have to continue messing around with the shifter or turning the car back on again by pressing the break until it finally goes off. This happens at least once daily and can take upwards of 5 minutes sometimes to finally recognize the car is in park so you can turn the car off. We’ve tried leaving the car running before when this message is displayed when it’s been parked in our garage thinking it would eventually realize it’s in park and shutoff but after 10 minutes of running it still hadn’t recognized it was in park. We called our dealership about this and they told us that they get a lot of complaints about this issue.

THE VEHICLE GIVES A 'SHIFT TO PARK' WARNING ON DASHBOARD AFTER VEHICLE IGNITION BUTTON. THIS WARNING SHOWS UP EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS ACCEPTED TO SHUT OFF. IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES AND TRIES TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY AND THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE ONLY SUCCESSFUL WAY OF GETTING THE MESSAGE AND VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IS BY WIGGLING OR SHAKING THE GEAR SHIFTER UNTIL IT GOES AWAY. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE FOR CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL WITH THE VEHICLE NOT REGISTERING THAT IT IS IN PARK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLE ISSUE FURTHER IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVE HAD THE SAME SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AND HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLE ROLL ON IT'S OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED BUT UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED I AM BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

OUR CAR, A 2017 ACADIA, WILL NOT AUTO START, ALARMS GO OFF RANDOMLY, THEFT WARNING COMES ON AND HOOD OPEN WARNING COMES ON EVERY TIME CAR IS STARTED.. OUR DETERMINATION IS THE HOOD LATCH FROM OTHER FORUMS WHICH IS WHAT THE GARAGE ALSO DETERMINED. WE WERE TOLD ONLY TRUCKS WERE BEING REPLACED NOT THE CARS. WE DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD BE PAYING FOR SINCE IT IS OUT THERE THAT MANY HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE LATCH CAUSES THE THEFT PROBLEM WHICH EVENTUALLY CAUSES THE CAR NOT TO ADVANCE IN SPEED (CONNECTING TO THEFT) AND COULD CAUSE DEATH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ALL CARS ARE GOING 60 PLUS AND YOUR CAR WON'T MOVE. SOME PEOPLE WERE UNABLE TO START THEIR CARS. THIS IS MAJOR AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED WITH A RECALL. THIS MIGHT NOT SEEM MAJOR BUT IT CAN BE. WE BECAME LEERY IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A TEEN DRIVER AND THE HOOD OPEN WARNING COMES ON MANY TIMES THROUGHOUT A DRIVE. YOU CAN CLEAR IT AND IT REAPPEARS WHETHER MOVING OR NOT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH US FOR A GOOD MONTH. AGAIN, THIS HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING. IT CAN COME ON AT ANY SPEED WHICH IS THE SCARY PART. WE HAVE LIMITED OUR DRIVE AND DRIVE AT A CONTROLLABLE SPEED BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT SAFER. THE SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT SYSTEM FAILED LAST YEAR AND CAUSED THE CAR TO DIE AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND REPLACED THE MODULE AND SENSORS. A LITTLE OVER A YEAR LATER AND THE SYSTEM IS DOING THE SAME THING. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE MODULE AND SENSORS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE MY PROBLEM, GMC HAS CREATED A FAULTY SENSOR SYSTEM AND NOW CONSUMERS ARE HAVING TO DISH OUT 700 PLUS DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. THERE IS A 'BULLETIN' THAT CONVENIENTLY DOES NOT COVER AL VIN NUMBERS MINE INCLUDED! HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE IF IT'S THE SAME FAULTY SYSTEM? ON DECEMBER 29, 2020, I WAS GOING TO VISIT A FRIEND ABOUT 5:30PM. THEY HAVE A DRIVEWAY THAT IS A DOWNWARD SLOPE. I PUT MY CAR (2017 GMC ACADIA DENALI) IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I STEPPED OUT AND LOCKED THE DOORS. I WAS TALKING TO MY FRIEND'S HUSBAND FOR A COUPLE MINUTES, ASKING IF SHE WAS HOME AND IF MY CAR WAS OKAY WHERE IT WAS PARKED. I WANTED TO MAKE SURE HE WAS NOT LEAVING AND WAS BLOCKED IN. I THEN STARTED WALKING TO THE HOUSE. I WAS GOING TO WALK IN THE GRASS AND JUST GO TO THE FRONT DOOR, BUT SINCE IT STARTED TO SNOW, I WALKED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. MY VEHICLE THEN STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND KNOCKED ME OVER. IT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OVER ME. I KNOW I FELL ON MY STOMACH, AS MY HANDS AND KNEES ARE PRETTY BRUISED AND SCRAPED UP. AS THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO KEEP GOING, I WAS PUSHED ON MY BACK WITH THE TIRE RESTING ON MY RIGHT HIP. THE GENTLEMAN RAN UP AND TRIED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF OF ME, BUT COULD NOT PUSH IT UP HILL. LUCKILY THE KEYS AND MY PHONE FELL OUT OF MY POCKET AND HE WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT OFF OF ME. I KNOW AT SOME POINT I DID HIT MY HEAD, BECAUSE THE BACK IS REALLY TENDER TODAY. I DID GO TO URGENT CARE TO GET X-RAYS BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL WITH ALL THE COVID CASES HERE IN ST JOSEPH COUNTY. THEY DID SCRUB ALL THE ROCKS AND DIRT OUT OF MY BACK AND HIP AND CLEANED UP MY KNEES. MY EX RAYS CAME BACK WITH NO BROKEN BONES AND I DID NOT HAVE BLOOD IN MY URINE, BUT THEY STILL RECOMMENDED THAT I GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I AM NOT ABLE TO WALK VERY WELL AND MY HIP IS VERY SWOLLEN. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY CAR WAS JUST IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE SHIFT TO PARK LIGHT KEPT COMING ON IN OCTOBER AND I HAVE MY REPAIR ORDER THAT SAYS THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED ON OCTOBER 22, 2020, WHICH OBVIOUSLY IT WAS NOT.

MY 2017 GMC ACADIA SHUT OFF LOST ALL POWER FOR A COUPLE MINS AT A BUSY INTERSECTION IN SEPTEMBER 2020. ALL POWER RESTORE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. I TOOK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. NOW ON THE 28TH OF DECEMBER 2020, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN AT THE SAME BUSY INTERSECTION! NO POWER AT ALL! COULD NOT EVEN TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO WARN TRAFFIC THAT WAS COMING UP BEHIND ME ON THE HIGHWAY! THE VEHICLE REMAINED LIKE THIS FOR 10-15 MINUTES! COULDN'T EVEN HAVE ANYONE PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE WE COULDN'T SHIFT IT TO NEUTRAL EITHER. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS GM ADVISED AND THEY STILL COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED BUT CANNOT MAKE SENSE OF WHY THIS KEEPS OCCURRING RANDOMLY. I HAD MY SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR THIS TIME AND WE ARE LUCKY WE DID NOT GET REAR ENDED! I FEAR THAT MY FAMILY IS NOT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS BUT NOT AS SEVERE AS THIS LAST TIME. VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED 11/2019, WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WITH 10,062 MILES FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN WHICH THE DEALER REPLACED A SHIFTER HARNESS. NOW, 9/21/20, 10 MONTHS LATER, AND 12,400 MILES, THE SAME PROBLEM HAS RE-EMERGED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING OR ENGINEERING DEFECT.

THIS HAS BEEN A HAZARD TO OUR FAMILY AND OUR FAMILIES HEALTH AS THE VEHICLE WILL THEN DIE EVENTUALLY BECAUSE THE BATTERY RUNS OUT. IT IS APPARENT THAT THERE IS A SEVERE MALFUNCTION IN THE ELECTRICAL/GEARBOX/COMPUTER SYSTEM NOT RECOGNIZING WHERE THE SHIFTER IS AT THE MOMENT. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD A PHOTO BUT IF I WERE TO TURN THE CAR ON TO TAKE THE PHOTO THE CAR LIKELY WILL NOT TURN OFF, AND THEN DIE ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH TO 6 WEEKS. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU EITHER CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND HAVE IT SAFELY STUCK OR IT WILL CONTINUE TO STAY ON AND POSSIBLE ROLL AWAY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FORUMS AND POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT 'FIXED' STILL HAVE ISSUES. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GMC NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT HOW TO FIX IT AND DO AN EMERGENCY RECALL IF THEY CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT THEN THEY NEED TO FULLY RECALL THE 17-18 ACADIAS AND PROVIDE REPLACEMENT VEHICLES AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY RISK. WHEN I PULL IN SOMEWHERE AND SHIFT MY CAR INTO PARK AND THEN GO TO PRESS THE BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF I GET AN ' ACTION REQUIRED MESSAGE' ON THE CLUSTER TO SHIFT TO PARK EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN PARK ALREADY AND IT SHOWS ON THE CLUSTER THAT IT IS IN PARK. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE RECALL AND HAVE IT SERVICED WHILE IT WAS THERE AND INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUE AND TO GET THEM TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS BUT IT KEPT THROWING A LOW VOLTAGE CODE. BUT WHEN THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED IT WAS FINE. THEY FOUND A BOLT LOOSE OR MISSING ON A BATTERY CABLE AT THE JUNCTION BOX AND REPLACED IT AND SAID THAT THEY THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNED A DAY LATER WHEN I WAS ON A TRIP TO NASHVILLE. WHILE IN NASHVILLE I AGAIN WENT TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE FOR MY DAUGHTER AND PULLED INTO PARK AND GOT THE SAME ' SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE WHEN I WAS ALREADY IN PARK. THE CLUSTER ON THE DASH SHOWED THAT I WAS IN PARK. I GOT OUT TO GO AHEAD AND RUN INTO THE STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT MY CAR HAD ROLLED BACKWARDS ACROSS THE PARKING LOT TO THE CURB. LUCKILY IT DID NOT HIT ANYTHING BUT THE CURB AND STOPPED. THIS PROBLEM IS SO DANGEROUS AND CONCERNING TO ME. IT IS GOING BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET CHECKED AGAIN . I DID FIND A YOUTUBE VIDEO EXPLAINING WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE SHIFTER AND WHY IT WAS NOT RECOGNIZING THAT THE CAR WAS IN PARK. LOOK IN THE SEARCH BAR FOR GMC ACADIA SHIFT TO PARK PROBLEMS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN JUNE 2017. FIRST, THE CAR CAME WITH THE WRONG DOOR HANDLE ON ONE OF THE DOORS THAT TOOK 3 MONTHS TO FIX BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP SCREWED UP THE PAINT ON THE DOOR AND HAD TO PAINT PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE CAR. AND INITIALLY THE DEALERSHIPS AND GMC CORPORATE GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND WITH WHO WAS PAYING FOR THE BILL WHICH THE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH. THEN THE CAR HAD A SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE IN JULY 2019 WHICH GMC WOULD NOT REPLACE AT THEIR COST EVEN THOUGH THEY RELEASED A NOTICE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS ABOUT IT BECAUSE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE BUT NEVER ISSUED A TRUE RECALL NOTICE BECAUSE THEY WANTED THE CONSUMER TO GET STUCK WITH THE BILL. AND SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY MIRRORS NOT STAYING PROGRAMMED AND THE AIR VENTING AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHING TO LETTING AIR IN FROM THE OUTSIDE WITHOUT ME CHANGING IT. THEN MY CAR BATTERY STARTED GOING OUT FEBRUARY 2020 WHICH SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS OF THIS CAR BEING PURCHASED. AND NOW MY RADIATOR (WHICH IS ESTIMATED AT CLOSE TO $1,000 TO REPLACE) IS LEAKING; AGAIN THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING THIS SOON UNLESS THIS CAR IS A LEMON. GMC WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY OF IT WITH THIS CAR AND THIS IS MORE PROBLEMS THAT ANYONE SHOULD EVER HAVE WITH A CAR WITHIN 3 YEARS OF PURCHASING IT BRAND NEW UNLESS IT IS A LEMON CAR WHICH AT THIS POINT, I THINK MINE IS.

THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ONGOING ISSUES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE OF 2017. THE 'SHIFT TO PARK' PROBLEM HAD TO BE FIXED TWICE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES ITSELF FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS, THE HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN NEEDED IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM IT'S DANGEROUS, THE BATTERY HAS DRAINED AND LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED 4 TIMES, AND THE VEHICLE HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND IT ALMOST STALLS OUT. I ATTEMPTED TO WORK WITH GM TO HAVE THEM TAKE THE CAR BACK EARLY (LEASE) AND THE REQUEST WAS RECENTLY DENIED. THIS IS MY 3RD ACADIA AND IT BY FAR IS THE MOST DANGEROUS CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. I AM NOW READING ABOUT A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE, A DRIVESHAFT THAT MAY SEPARATE WHILE DRIVING, AND A FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL BRAKING CAPABILITY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE HAVING MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR AND I AM REQUESTING YOUR ASSISTANCE TO HELP ME WORK WITH GM ON A RESOLUTION. A LAWSUIT IS CURRENTLY PENDING REGARDING THIS ISSUE. GMC HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP AUGUST 2018 DUE TO THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2019. WHEN WE CALLED ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THE PRIOR WORK WASN'T COVERED AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE "KNOWN DEFECT" REPAIRED AGAIN.

THIS IS THE GMC ISSUE WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION OR THEIR COMPUTER NO CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS FIX . THIS SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY PAID FOR BY GMC WHEN SOMEBODY IS LEASING THE VEHICLE .

THIS STARTED WHEN I HAD APPROXIMATELY 35,900 MILES ON THE VEHICLE BUT BY THE TIME I GOT AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER, I WAS OVER 36,000 MILES SO THEY SAY IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY ANYMORE. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING, BUT GMC STILL HASN'T INITIATED ANY KIND OF RECALL WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT I'M SURE THEY KNOW ABOUT.

WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AROUND A CENTER MEDIAN, WHEN THE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM BEGAN FLASHING IN THE HEADS UP DISPLAY, THE SEAT VIBRATED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO.AN ABRUPT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THERE WERE NO NEARBY VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS. THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES WERE LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT RELEASE UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN THE DRIVE THRU LANE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL GMC DEALER. STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD FIND WRONG. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 32,000 MILES AND THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY IS SET TO EXPIRE AT 36,000 MILES.

I EXPRESSED THE SAFETY CONCERNS I HAD, ESPECIALLY IF MY WIFE WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO USE THE HORN IN AN EMERGENCY, BUTH THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURE WARRANT IS SET TO EXPIRE IN LESS THEN 4000 MILES.

ON NOVEMBER 8TH, 2018 TOOK VEHICLE INTO CAPPELLINO GMC BUICK, FOR OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION AND INSPECTION EVEN THO INSPECTION WAS NOT DUE UNTIL DECEMBER..WAS TOLD TIRES ON THESE VEHICLES WERE WARING UNUSUALLY FAST..NOTICES WERE POSTED ALL OVER THE DEALERS FACILITY, TOLD WE COULD BUY NEW ONES FOR SLIGHTLY LESS THAN NEW PRICE BECAUSE THEY WERE PRO RATED..THIS 2017 ACADIA WAS LEASED NEW, LESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO..WE BELIEVE WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR FAULTY PRODUCT..AT THAT POINT CALLED DEALER WE HAD PURCHASED FROM AND QUESTIONED WHAT WAS GOING ON..WE WERE TOLD "IF IT PASSED INSPECTION, TIRES SHOULD BE GOOD FOR ANOTHER YEAR." ON 11/25/18, WHILE PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY, THE LEFT REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND WAS FLAT WITHIN A FEW SECONDS.. WE THEN CALLED DEALER BACK AGAIN AND WAS TOLD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE THEN BRING IN ASAP TP DEALER TO GET NEW TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE NOT SAFE. ON 11/27/18 WENT INTO DEALER WITH SPARE THAT WE WERE TOLD NOT TO GO OVER 40 MILES ON. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SPLIT PRICE OF 4 NEW TIRES..WE SAID OK. THEY THEN TRIED TO PUT 4 NEW FAULTY TIRES ON VEHICLE. WE REFUSED TO PURCHASE MORE OF THE BAD TIRES THEY THEN GAVE US THE OPTION OF BUYING A DIFFERENT TIRE THAT HAD TO BE ORDERED AND SENT US OFF WITH THE SPARE STILL ON CAR.. WE WERE TOLD IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST 3 TO 5 DAYS TO GET THE OTHER TIRES..WE HAVE USED 20 OF THE MILES JUST GETTING BACK AND FORTH FROM DEALER. WE DO NOT FEEL WE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT ON LEASED VEHICLE. THESE TIRES ARE NOT SAFE..THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THIS CAR ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS WEEKEND WE WERE TO BE AT A HOCKEY TOURN. FOR ONE OF THE CHILDREN, ROOMS HAVE BEEN BOOKED AND HE IS THE TEAMS' GOALIE. WE HAVE NO WAY TO GET THERE NOW. WE WERE NOT OFFERED A LOANER OR ANY KIND OF HELP. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY OF ANY KIND THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. WE HOPE YOU WILL CHECK INTO THIS ASAP

AFTER READING MULTIPLE FORUMS THERE ARE HUNDRED OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE FROM 100MILES TO 60K+ AND GM HAS REFUSED TO MAKE THIS A RECALL. SOMEONE DID STATE THAT THEY GOT THEIR SHIFT ASSEMBLY REPLACED AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH GM AND NOT STANDING BEHIND AN ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURE. THEY ALSO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH CADILLAC STEMMING FORM THEIR TENNESSEE PLANT. BUYERS BEWARE!

IN ADDITION, THE AUXILIARY POWER STAYS ON (INCLUDING THE HEADLIGHTS IF IN AUTO MODE) INDEFINITELY. MY DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR NEARLY TWO MONTHS AND HAS OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. GMC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE HAS PROVIDED NO HELP.

THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW AND IS BECOMING A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY AND I AND FOR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW IN MAY 2017 AND THE ISSUE OCCURED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON OCTOBER 02, 2017. SECOND TIME WAS FEBRUARY 15, 2018 AND THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED AROUND EARLY APRIL 2018. WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED (ENTERING A PARKING LOT, IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A GREEN LIGHT, AND WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AFTER GETTING GAS) THE CAR MADE A GRINDING/CLUNKING SOUND AND WAS BROUGHT TO A VERY ABRUPT STOP. I TRIED TO PRESS THE GAS BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I CHANGED THE GEAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND THEN DRIVE AGAIN AND WOULD STILL NOT MOVE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND STILL NOTHING. I ENDED UP FIGURING IT OUT BY PRESSING THE PARKING BREAK BUTTON 1-2 TIMES AND WAS THEN ABLE TO PROCEED TO DRIVE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH SOMETHING MAY HAVE TRIGGERED THE PARKING BRAKE BUT WHILE I WAS IN DRIVE AND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN THIS HAPPENED IN THE INTERSECTION AND ALSO DURING THE TIME I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE IN THE INTERSECTION, MY LIGHT HAD CHANGED TO YELLOW AND THEN RED AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS HONKING BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GO ON THEIR GREEN LIGHT DUE TO ME BEING STOPPED IN THE INTERSECTION. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS AS IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT 2 OUT OF THE 3 TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED. I TOLD SERVICE DEPT AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT TWICE. THEY HAVE "LOOKED INTO IT" ONE TIME BUT SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE (OBVIOUSLY), THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILIES SAFETY IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN LATE JANUARY 2018. THE CAR WAS A NEW 2017 GMC ACADIA. WE HAD THE CAR A FEW DAYS WHEN MY WIFE SAID THAT SHE COULD NOT GET THE HORN TO WORK. SHE SAID SHE LOOKED AT THE MANUAL AND FOUND WHERE TO PUSH BUT NOTHING. I TRIED AND COULD NOT GET THE HORN TO WORK EITHER I CALLED TO AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE DEALER SERVICE TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT NEEDED A NEW CONTACT. TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PART COMES IN. I STILL HAVEN'T HEAD FROM THEM AND CALLED A COUPLE OF TIME AND WAS TOLD AGAIN, WE'LL CALL AS SOON AS THE PART COMES IN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY PROBLEM AS SEVERAL TIME WE NEED THE HORN AND COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK.

HORN IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SOUND. IT TAKES STRONG PRESSURE ON ONLY ONE AREA OF THE SURFACE TO SOUND. MY WIFE HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO IT. WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SOUND IN AN EMERGENCY. THIS NEW WIRE HARNESS DID NOT IMPROVE THE CONDITION AT ALL - MAY EVEN BE WORSE THAN BEFORE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE - GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS EITHER DUE TO THE DRIVER AIRBAG CUSHION PACK HEIGHT OR WIRE HARNESS LIMITING HORN TRAVEL.

I WAS DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS IN THE INTERMITTENT POSTION. THERE WAS A LIGHT SNOW COMING DOWN. THE WIPERS WORKED UP TO THIS TIME. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING. THIS AFFECTED VIABILITY DRAMATICALLY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE WITH HEAVIER SNOW. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE SCREW HAD LOOSENED AND THE WIPER MOTOR AND WINDSHIELD WIPER WERE DISCONNECTED.

HORN IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. SO DIFFICULT IN FACT, THAT MOST OF THE TIME IT IS INOPERABLE IN NEEDED SITUATIONS. WE HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED US TO CONTACT GMC WHO THEN DIRECTED US BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SENT US BACK TO GMC. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF NO RESPONSE WE WERE FINALLY TOLD BY GMC THAT THE UNDERSTAND IT IS HARD TO PRESS BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY ARE PLANNING ON DOING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. I EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND WE ARE UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

TRUCK CONSTANTLY FAILS TO START. KEYFOB NOT RECOGNIZED. COMPUTER SYSTEM CRASHES, REAR AIR VENTS FALL OUT. FAULTY GAS TANK AND GAS LINE. CANNOT FILL UP GAS TANK PAST 1/2 A TANK. BEEN HAPPENING SINCE INCEPTION AND IS CONSTANTLY IN AND OUT OF SERVICE FOR THE SAME ISSUES OVER THE PAST YEAR. NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE TRUCK IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND MY FAMILY. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN ALTERNATE WAY TO START THE TRUCK SHOULD THE COMPUTER SYSTEM CRASH.

HELLO, IS ANYONE INVESTIGATING THE HORN PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 GMC ACADIA THAT IS WELL-DOCUMENTED IN MANY PLACES, INCLUDING YOUR OWN NHTSA WEBSITE? THE SAME PROBLEM LIKELY EXISTS WITH THE 2018 MODELS AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE '17 MODELS WERE FIRST INTRODUCED IN 2016 AND GM SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX IT. A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY CAN'T FIX IT? THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR WORSE. GM DEALERS ARE STILL SELLING THESE VEHICLES TO UNINFORMED BUYERS AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE HORN IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACTIVATE. A PERSON MUST USE EXTREME WEIGHT AND PRESSURE TO GET THE HORN TO WORK. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT AS OF YET THERE IS NO REPAIR THAT THEY HAVE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS OCCURS NO MATTER WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR PARKED. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME I TRY TO ACTIVATE THE HORN.

THE 2017 GMC ACADIA HORN TAKES AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF FORCE TO ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN NOTED BY SEVERAL USERS. MY SPOUSE HAD A SEMI TRUCK COME INTO HER LANE A DAY AGO AND COULD NOT GET HORN TO SOUND TO WARN OTHER DRIVER. GMC DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED AND SAID ITS JUST THE WAY THE ASSEMBLY WORKS IN THIS MODEL. I BELIEVE THIS REPRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT MAKES THE HORN UNUSABLE WHEN YOU NEED IT QUICKLY AND WITHOUT TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. GM IS SAYING TO BAD.

POWER LIFTGATE MALFUNCTION- LIFTGATE WAS OPERATED FROM THE REAR SWITCH. UPON ACTIVATION IT ROSE ALMOST FULLY AND THEN SLAMMED DOWN ON A PERSON WHILE THEY WERE ACCESSING THE REAR CARGO AREA, INJURING THEIR NOSE AND FACE. LIFTGATE FAILED TO STOP AT OBSTRUCTION. FROM THAT POINT ON LIFTGATE FAILED TO OPEN OR CLOSE WITHOUT MANUAL INTERVENTION. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ENGINE RUNNING AND MOSTLY LEVEL STREET. WEATHER HAD BEEN RAINY BUT WAS NOT RAINING AT THE TIME, 63 DEGREE TEMP. NOT SURE IF IT WAS IN PARK OR DRIVE, BUT BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND OTHER PASSENGERS WERE ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT MORNING THE POWER LIFTGATE HAS OPERATED NORMALLY.

I CANNOT SEEM TO DETERMINE IF SUCH A CONFIGURATION DOES OR DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS. I CANNOT DETERMINE, THEREFORE, WHETHER I AM OR AM NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO CARRY A PASSENGER IN THE MIDDLE (INBOARD) SEAT.

THE HORN IS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH. MOST PEOPLE HAVE TO USE THE PALMS OF BOTH HANDS AND ARCH THEIR BACK AGAINST THE SEAT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO A GMC DEALER AND THEY WERE ALSO SHOCKED AT HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS TO PUSH THE HORN. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, GMC SAID THE HORN "WORKS AS CURRENTLY DESIGNED". THEY ALSO INDICATED THEY TRIED 3 OTHER 2017 ACADIA'S IN INVENTORY AND THEY WERE ALL VERY HARD TO PUSH. TO ME, THE PHRASE "WORKS AS CURRENTLY DESIGNED" IS INDICATIVE OF A PROBLEM. I AM UNABLE TO WARN PEDESTRIANS OR MOTORISTS OF AN IMPENDING DANGER. I HAVE TO WORK TOO HARD AND LONG TO PUSH THE HORN. A HORN SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE PUSHED VERY QUICKLY IN ORDER TO WARN OR ALERT OF A DANGER.

ON A RECENT TRIP. GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, 28 DEGREES OUTSIDE. WE CONSTANTLY HAD TO KEEP TURNING DOWN THE INSIDE TEMP. STARTED AT 72 DEGREES INSIDE AND FINALLY GOT TO A COMFORTABLE INSIDE TEMP AT 66 OR 67 DEGREES. ANYTHING ABOVE THAT WAS WAY TO HOT. WHEN YOU STOPPED OR SLOWED WAY DOWN, THE TEMP HAD TO BE TURNED UP. THIS IS WHILE THE SYSTEM WAS SET TO AUTO. THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO TAKE THERE EYES OFF OF THE ROAD TO MESS WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL.

2017 ACADIA 'DENALI' TRIM IS MISSING AFM INFORMATION FROM ITS DIC DISPLAY. AFM INFORMATION SHOWS WHEN THE ENGINE IS USING 6 V/S 4 CYLINDERS. OTHER TRIMS SEEM TO SHOW AFM INFORMATION WHEN EQUIPPED WITH V6 ENGINE. AFM IS AN IMPORTANT FEATURE AND DENALI BEING THE HIGHEST LEVEL TRIM SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE. GM SHOULD PROVIDE UPGRADED DISPLAY TO 2017 DENALI CUSTOMERS.

THE HORN TAKES A LOT OF FORCE TO HONK OR ENGAGE THE HORN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID, "IT WAS BY DESIGN". TO ME THIS IS A FLOW AND IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY.
