(1) THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF MY TRANSMISSION. (2) I CAME TO A DEAD END STREET AND HAD TO TURN AROUND, I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I MANAGED TO GET TURNED AROUND BY PUSHING THE TRUCK. THE TRANSMISSION WILL ALSO NOT SHIFT INTO THE SECOND OR OVERDRIVE GEARS. I CAN ONLY DRIVE IN FIRST AND THIRD GEARS. (3) I HAVEN'T REPAIRED THE VEHICLE.*AK

THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN RECALLS 01I018000 LOWER BALL JOINT; RECALL 03V159000 WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, AND TRANSMISSION. RECALL NUMBER UNKNOWN. DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR BECAUSE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE LEFT LOWER BALL JOINT DUE TO A CRACKING NOISE. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE SNOW, THE CONSUMER WASN'T ABLE TO USE THE 4WD BECAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE INTERMITTENT, A LOUD CRACKING NOISE HAD COME FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE TRANSMISSION WHICH HAD A LEAK AND THE IGNITION SWITCH. *SCC *JB
SECOND FAILURE OF BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER ON 1996 GMC JIMMY 4WD - ACTUAL MILAGE 38,910. THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE NEVER WORKED PROPERLY SINCE NEW. 4 YEAR OLD WAS ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS WITHOUT APPYLING BRAKES WHICH RESULTED IN A COLLISION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WE HAD THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGH REPAIRED 1 1/2 YEAR AGO, THEN IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGH AGAIN. A MALFUNCTION HAS OCCURRED WITHIN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WHICH HAS CAUSED VEHICLE NOT TO MOVE WHEN SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT SYSTEM WAS OPERATING. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
SEALS IN TRANSFER CASE HAD GONE OUT. THIS CAUSED FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. SEALS WERE NOT CORRODED OR RUSTY. HAD IT REPAIRED FIRST TIME. CURRENTLY, SECOND TIME MECHANIC INDICATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. *AK
I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT THE ENTIRE 1996 GMC- JIMMY SERIES MADE NEED TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THE OWNER HAS TO MANY REPAIRS TO BE DONE ON THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICES ENGINE LIGHT COMES VERY OFTEN TO INDICATE REPAIRS ON THE TRUCK AND THEIR ARE TO BE PROBLEMS WITH THIS 1996 JIMMY. I SUGGEST A TOTAL RECALL OF THIS VEHICLE AND THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. IT HAS A VERY BAD BRAKING SYSTEM ABS.*AK

SPEEDOMETER STICKS WHEN DRIVING WITH LIGHTS ON FOR 15 MINUTES OR MORE. DASH GETS VERY HOT UNLESS DASH LIGHTS ARE TURNED TO LOWEST SETTING. WHEN DASH LIGHTS ARE TURNED TO THE LOWEST SETTING, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGINS TO WORK NORMALLY.
THE REAR AXEL WENT IN THIS JIMMY IT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DIDN'T COMPLETELY FREEZE UP WHILE I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD IT COULD HAVE CREATED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
CLUTCH CABLE BROKE. *AK
LEFT REAR AXLE SHEARED WHILE DRIVING DOWN HWY AT 65 MPH, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ROLL 5 & 1/2 TIMES AND CAUSING INJURY TO PASSENGERS, DPS STATED DEFECTIVE AXLE ON REPORT
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WHEN TURNING A CORNER AT 15 MPH, APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE. ALSO, POWER BRAKE SYSTMEM WENT AND TRANSMISSION WENT FAILED. IN ADDITION, DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS. *AK
DIFFERENTIAL UNIT REPLACED FOUR OCCASIONS DUE TO FAILURE CAUSING LEAKAGE. MJS
TORN CV-BOOT RESULTING IN LEAKAGE. MJS
WHILE DRIVING FOR A HALF AN HOUR OR MORE THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONES, CAUSING ERRATIC READINGS. THE OCCUPANT CAN'T TELL HOW FAST VEHICLE IS GOING. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
RUSTED TRANSMISSION DIP STICK CONTAMINATES TRANSMISSION.
4-WHEEL DRIVE MODULE AND ENCODER MOTOR FAILED.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, PUMPED BRAKES, RETURNED TO NORMAL. FURTHER DOWN ROAD, PEDAL AGAIN WENT TO FLOOR, VEHICLE SPUN AROUND, COULD HAVE CAUSED CRASH, ACCORDING TO DEALER, WATER GOT INTO BRAKE LINE; ALSO ALL WHEEL DRIVESHAFT LOCKED, CAUSING FRONT TIRES TO LOCK UP. *AK CONSUMER STATES TIRES LOCKED UP ABOUT 4 OR 5 TIMES WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO VEER FROM LANE TO LANE. *SLC
RPM SENSOR FAILED.
FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED.
CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE IS A STRONG VIBRATION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT (65) MPH. NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM IS COMING FROM THE TIRES OR THE DRIVETRAIN.*AK
