TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC JIMMY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR WOULD CONSISTENTLY ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE FREQUENTLY MISFIRED, WHICH CAUSED IT TO BE INOPERABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SCPI FUEL INJECTOR AND THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS AT THE COST OF $1,150. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR 1996 TO 2001 SUV'S, BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS NOT APPLICABLE FOR HIS STATE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,000.

REALLY BAD EXHAUST SMELL. NOT EGGS. NOT YOUR STANDARD STINK. BAD SMELL SINCE 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE IN 2001. KEEPS THE FOLLOWING TRAFFIC WAY BEHIND ME. HAD OXYGEN SENSOR CHECKED MANY TIMES. BUT I THINK ITS THE CAT. CONVERTER. *JB EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE, I REQUEST A FIX. STILL NOT FIXED. SERVICE CENTER CAN'T DUP PROBLEM, WHY? I SMELL IT !! ALSO FLUX GAS GAUGE MOVEMENT IN PARK. ALSO NO HORN. HAD FIXED ONCE IN SUMMER 2005, AND 5 MONTHS LATER IT DOESN'T WORK AGAIN. THE FUSE IS FINE. COULD HAVE USED IT THE OTHER DAY. :-(*JB

WAS TOLD BY STATE FARM THIS WAS A DESIGN DEFECT. THE OIL LINES LEAK FROM THE ENGINE DOWN TO THE FILTER THAT IS ON THE FRONT BUMPER INSTEAD OF ON THE ENGINE. *JB

SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES IN 8 WEEKS (ALL WITH IN 2 MONTHS). I WAS TOLD BY DEALER SECONDARY AIR PUMP WAS BAD. PART WAS REPLACED A NUMBER OF TIMES. I CALLED GM'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. THEY OFFERED NO HELP OTHER THAN TO CALL A GMC DEALER AND HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK. *AK

I PURCHASED A USED 2001 GMC JIMMY FROM PERFORMANCE (LEMON DEALER) PONTIAC IN SYRACUSE N.Y.. THE VEHICLE HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT AND 7 MONTHS LATER (PURCHASED 6/03) THE ENGINE IS SHOT. IT HAD A LEAK THROUGH EITHER A HEAD GASKET OR HEAD/BLOCK AND ANTIFREEZE HAD BEEN LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE OIL. MY VEHICLE NOW NEEDS ANOTHER ENGINE OR A COMPLETE REBUILD! *JB

MY VEHICLE HAS TWO PROBLEMS THAT I AM AWARE OF. THERE'S HEAT COMING FROM THE FLOOR HEATER WHILE THE HEATER IS OFF, AND IT BURNS MY FEET. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I ACTIVATE MY LEFT/RIGHT BLINKER MY DAY LIGHTS GO OUT, AND SOMETIMES WHEN I'M DRIVING MY DAY LIGHTS ARE NOT ACTIVATED. I HAVE TO PLAY WITH MY BLINKERS TO MAKE THEN COME ON. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE REFUSES TO FIX EITHER PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR IS DESIGNED THIS WAY. *LA

PROBLEMS WITH MY 2001 GMC JIMMY HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INCLUDING IGNITION SWITCH, WHEEL BEARINGS, CLANKING NOISE, ROARING NOISE, WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILURE, WINDSHIELD WIPER HOSE FAILURE, BATTERY, A/C, AND SO ON. CURRENTLY, MY VEHICLE CLANKS APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND MY A/C DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AT ALL TIMES. DEALERSHIP CONSISTENTLY SAYS "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG" HOWEVER I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2+ YEARS AND I KNOW MY CAR. *LA

VEHICLE HAS NON-ENGAGING TRANSMISSION AS AT TIMES IT WILL NOT SHIFT THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC AND SOMETIMES IT STARTS OUT IN 2ND AND THEN DROPS DOWN TO 1ST. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON 3 OCCASIONS AS THERE WERE EMISSIONS PROBLEMS. FRONT END MAKES CONSTANT POPPING NOISE. PROBLEM HAS BEEN LUBED ON 3 OR MORE OCCASIONS AS WELL AS COIL SPRINGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND LUBED. BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THERE WAS A RUPTURE IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
