The contact owns a 1995 N/A GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that after parking, turning the vehicle off, and exiting, the vehicle suddenly rolled forward, down a slight incline, and crashed into another parked vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted regarding the failure. In addition, while making a left turn into an intersection, a second vehicle crashed into the front of the vehicle. During the crash, no air bags deployed. The contact sustained injuries to both the shoulder and the chest. No medical treatment was required. A police report was filed at the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. No further information was available. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 4,000.

THE NP246 TRANSFER CASE OIL PUMP PLATE WEARS A HOLE INTO THE CASE, CAUSING IT TO LEAK. THERE IS A SAVER PLATE THAT CAN BE INSTALLED THAT PREVENTS THIS PROBLEM.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK SINCE I BOUGHT IT 3 MONTHS AGO. I'VE FIXED ALMOST ALL OF THEM-ABS WAS ACTIVATING WHICH WAS PUSHING ME INTO TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING A WRECK SO I CHANGED THE ABS SPEED SENSOR AND HUB ASSEMBLY. FRONT SUSPENSION WAS GONE SO I REPLACED THAT; AS WELL AS STEERING PARTS, BRAKES, THE PARKING BRAKE DOESN'T WORK, FIXING IT NEXT. OIL SENDING UNIT, A/C BELT AND REFRIGERANT REPLACED. THE PROBLEMS LEFT ARE EVAP EMISSION VENT VALVE SOLENOID, THROTTLE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR, AND RANDOM/ MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE SOMETIMES AND CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE OTHER TIMES. IN 4X4 WHEN IT GETS UNDER A LOAD SOMETHING SOUNDS LIKE IT'S BINDING UP AND IT POPS BUT IT STILL WORKS. WHEN I SHIFT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE OR ACCELERATE FROM A STOP IT HAS A SHIFT FEELING IN THE REAR WITH A THUMP SOUND. SOMETIMES I CAN PUSH THE GAS AND IT WON'T DOWNSHIFT TO SPEED UP WHEN I'M ON THE HWY BUT THAT'S PROBABLY THE TPPS. I JUST WANT MY 4X4 WORKING AND MY SHIFT THUMP FROM A STOP TO GO AWAY. HELP. IN 4X4 THE NOISE HAPPENS IN FWD REVERSE AND WHEN TURNING AND WORSE IN 4LO BUT HAPPENS IN 4HI AND AUTO BUT NOT IN 2HI. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VEER TO THE RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER AND SPUN AROUND FROM THE FRONT AND CRASHED IN THE REAR. THE DRIVERS SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A DISLOCATED LEFT SHOULDER AND A FRACTURED RIGHT FOOT. THE CONTACT ALSO SUSTAINED WHIPLASH, NECK PAINS WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V005000 (POWER TRAIN) AND NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA04012 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 183,500.

WHILE TRYING TO SELL MY VEHICLE, AN AUTO SERVICE FACILITY DISCOVERED SERIOUS FRAME CORROSION WHICH COULD PROVE TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CORROSION SEEMS EXCESSIVE AND SUGGESTS DESIGN AND/OR MATERIAL DEFICIENCIES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES AND HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE FAILURE, ALL DUE TO RUST. ALSO, EXCESSIVE BODY RUST IN THE LOWER ROCKER PANELS HAS OCCURRED, MORE OF A COSMETIC PROBLEM, BUT INDICATIVE OF THE PERVASIVE RUST PROBLEM THAT EXISTS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE EXITING A RAMP AT 35 MPH HE LOST POWER STEERING. HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. UPON VEHICLE INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT FRACTURED. HE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF. HE WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL# 05V005000 (POWER TRAIN:DRIVE LINE:DRIVE SHAFT). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. TRUCK DRIVE TRAIN INTERMITTENTLY MAKES CLUNK NOISE WHEN I FIRST START OFF FROM A STOP. WHEN I STOP AT A RED LIGHT IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE JUST HIT ME FROM BEHIND GOING FROM FIRST INTO SECOND GEAR. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 88000 MILES / 4 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE ELECTRICAL OF SORTS. WHEN THE TRUCK STARTS ACTING UP WITH THIS PROBLEM I USUALLY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD & TURN OFF THE IGNITION...WAIT 20-30 SECONDS & RESTART THE IGNITION...98% OF THE TIME THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM & THE DEALERSHIPS GIVE ME NOTHING BUT THE RUNAROUND. THE TRUCK SERVES ME WELL WITH 238000 MILES ON HER BUT I MOST DEFIANTLY WOULD LIKE TO FIND THE CURE & FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
