I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL MECHANICS ( AND CONFIDENTIALLY BY A SERVICE REP AT A DEALER) THAT THE DESIGN OF THE GMC AND CHEVROLET EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM IS POORLY DESIGNED AND WHETHER ENGAGED OR NOT , THE BRAKESHOES ARE CONTINOUSLY IN CONTACT W/THE DRUMS, CAUSING THEM TO WEAR OUT VERY QUICKLY - BECOMING COMPLETELY USELESS AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPARE AND REPLACE - NOT TO MENTION VERY DANGEROUS.
