The contact owns a 2013 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, she lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, the contact discovered that the vehicle had crashed into two vehicles and that the driver's side air bag had deployed. The police and paramedics arrived at the scene; however, no one involved in the accident needed immediate medical assistance. A police report was filed. About a week after the accident, the contact stated that they began to develop open sores on both arms as black metal fragments began to leak out of these sores. The contact went to the doctor and was treated for the injuries and was referred to a dermatologist for further assistance. Upon investigation, the contact linked her injuries to the Takata air bag recall. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and an independent mechanic was able to repair certain parts of the vehicle to make it drivable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a claim was filed. The contact was also informed that an inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 312,000.

DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AROUND PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG. THE PLASTIC IS SHARP AND BRITTLE, AND I'M CONCERNED THAT SHARP SHARDS OF PLASTIC WOULD GO EVERYWHERE IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY WELL-CARED FOR VEHICLE THAT COULD PASS FOR 'NEW CONDITION' OTHER THAN THIS DASHBOARD ISSUE.
Mileage: 60,000

DASH CRACKED TOP LEFT CORNER WHERE AIR BAG FITS INTO THE DASH
Mileage: 73,900
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING AN ERROR MESSAGE FLASHED ENGINE REDUCED POWER, STABILITY CONTROL LOSS. TRUCK STRUGGLED TO ACCELERATE. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE NOVEMBER 2015 ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. I HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE SYSTEM FROM THROTTLE BODY TO THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM THAT GM KNOWS ABOUT ALONG WITH THE CRACKS IN THE DASH AROUND AIR BAG ON PASSENGER SIDE AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND REFUSES TO RECALL AND FIX CRACKS IN AIR BAG HOUSING COULD POSE A SAFETY HAZARD ALONG WITH LOSS OF ENGINE POWER FROM FAULTY WIRING.

TAKATA RECALL - WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL BUT HAVE YET BEEN CONTACTED OR ABLE TO HAVE THE BAGS REPLACED. HEARING OF MULTIPLE DEATHS, IS MY CAR SAFE TO DRIVE?
AIRBAG RECALL
DASH HAS CRACKED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TO THE FRONT OF DASH CAP AND ALONG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO THE FRONT OF DASH CAP. THIS CAN EASILY CAUSE A PROBLEM SHOULD THE AIRBAG GO OFF. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE THE CENTER OF THE DASH WOULD SHATTER SENDING SHRAPNEL TO EVERY DIRECTION INSIDE THE TRUCK SHOULD THE AIRBAG GO OFF OR A COLLISION. FOR ME TO REPLACE THIS IS GOING TO COST $1000.00 THIS IS GMC'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR POOR ENGINEERING AND POOR QUALITY. THEY SHOULD FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED! I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND $1000.00 ON A $60,000.00 TRUCK BECAUSE THE DASH ISN'T SUPPORTED PROPERLY TO KEEP FROM FALLING APART. BESIDES, WHY SPEND $1000.00 ON A NEW ONE WHEN IT'S JUST GOING TO CRACK AGAIN. STRUCTURAL FLAW!!
DASHBOARD SURROUNDING AIRBAG AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS CRACKING AND ESSENTIALLY DISINTEGRATING. IF MY AIRBAG DEPLOYS OR I'M INVOLVED IN A COLLISION THESE SHARP PLASTIC FRAGMENTS WILL BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS TRUCK HAS 38K MILES AND IS IN OTHERWISE PRISTINE CONDITION WITH ZERO SCRATCHES ON THE INTERIOR PARTS ASIDE FROM THESE DASH CRACKS. THE PLASTIC IS PROTECTED EVERY THREE MONTHS AT LEAST WITH AEROSPACE 303 AND PROTECTED FROM SUNLIGHT WHEN NOT IN USE. THIS IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE, IT'S A STRUCTURAL DEFECT. THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED.

DASH HAS CRACKED AROUND PASSENGER SAFETY BAG.
Mileage: 51,000
THERE IS A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD RIGHT BESIDE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ON THE INBOARD SIDE. AS THE DRIVER, I AM WORRIED THAT A SHARD OF PLASTIC COULD EXPLOSIVELY TEAR THROUGH MY SKULL, KILLING ME, IN THE EVENT OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. GMC NEEDS TO FIX THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!!!!
Mileage: 84,000
$17,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE ON MY GMC ALL AIRBAGS WENT OFF MINUS THE DRIVER SIDE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG. WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 75 MILES PER HOUR FELL ASLEEP AT WHEEL RAN INTO THE BARRIER WIRES. DAMAGE ALL OVER THE TRUCK 360UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK LUCKILY NOBODY WAS INJURED EXCEPT FOR MY OWN BODY. I LOST CONSCIOUSNESS THE ONSTAR WOKE ME UP AND I CRAWLED OUT OF THE WRECKAGE MEETING THE HIGHWAY PATROL. IT'S BEEN JUST OVER FOUR YEARS I'M STILL FEELING THE EFFECTS OF THE INJURY.
Mileage: 1,600
THE DASH IS CRACKED, THERE ARE TWO CRACKS WHERE THE AIR-BAG IS, WHICH COULD POSSIBLY INTERFERE WITH THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR-BAG. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD AND INVOLVES SEVERAL MODELS AND SEVERAL YEARS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND ALSO GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. SEVERAL PEOPLE REPLACED THEIR DASHES AT THEIR EXPENSE ONLY TO HAVE THOSE CRACK ALSO.
Mileage: 30,000
DASHED CRACKED NEAR AIR BAG
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. IN A CRASH OR AIRBAG INFLATION, LOOSE SHARDS OF DASHBOARD PLASTIC MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS FLYING DEBRIS OR THEY MAY PUNCTURE AND/OR CUT THE AIRBAG PREVENTING PROPER AIRBAG INFLATION AND DECREASING THE AIRBAG'S EFFECTIVENESS.
Mileage: 91,200
TAKATA RECALL: A CRACK HAS APPEARED ON THE DASH LEADING TO THE AIR BAG ON PASSENGER SIDE! MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS MAY AFFECT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG, AND OR CAUSE PIECES OF DASH TO BECOME SHRAPNEL!
Mileage: 50,400
DASHBOARD CRACKING AROUND AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE AND INSTRUMENT PANEL ON DRIVER SIDE. THE THIN BRITTLE PLASTIC MAY BE A HAZZARD WITH AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
DASHBOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS CRACKING.
Mileage: 15,200
THERE ARE 4 CRACKS IN THE DASH OF THE TRUCK AND 1 ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MY CONCERN IS IF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED IT COULD POTENTIALLY SEND PLASTIC FLYING PROJECTILES AND CAUSE BODILY INJURY OR WORSE LOSS OF VISION. GM HAS NOT HAD A RECALL BECAUSE THEY CLAIM ITS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN BUT THERE MUST BE A TEST PERFORMED IN ORDER TO RAISE A SAFETY CONCERN OR WAIT TILL SOMEONE GETS HURT

DASH IS CRACKED AROUND PASSENGER AIR BAG
Mileage: 50,200
DASHBOARD CRACKED OVER INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AIRBAG SIDE.
Mileage: 73,000
THIS TRUCK IS FOUR YEARS OLD, HAS 30,000 MILES, IS GARAGE KEPT (NEVER PARKED IN THE SUN) AND THE DASH HAS CRACKED NEAR THE AIR BAG AREA. I AM CONCERNED THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG COULD BE AFFECTED BY THE CRACKED DASH.
Mileage: 30,000
I NOTICED GETTING INTO MY TRUCK TODAY THAT I HAD CRACKS IN MY DASH IN TWO SPOTS. ONE CRACK IS ABOVE MY INSTRUMENT PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE OTHER IS ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE, RUNNING TO WHERE MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYS FROM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A TREND THAT HAS AFFECTED OTHER GM OWNERS. I'M CONCERNED THAT IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY EITHER THEY'D CUT INTO THE BAGS CAUSING THEM TO NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY, AND/OR, SEND SHARDS OF SHARP PLASTIC FLYING THROUGH THE VEHICLES CABIN--BOTH SITUATIONS COULD HAVE SERIOUS/CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES.
Mileage: 51,000
INTERIOR UPPER DASH CRACKED AT 11,000. ALWAYS GARAGED. KNOWN ISSUE WITH '07-'13 GM TRUCKS. POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO PASSENGER AIR BAG UPON INFLATION. DUE TO SHARP CORNERS ON CRACK THE AIRBAG COULD BE DAMAGED OR BECOME INOPERATIVE DUE TO A PUNCTURE UPON INFLATION.
