I am the original owner of a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 (VIN: [XXX] ) and began experiencing serious mechanical and electrical issues while the vehicle was still under warranty around 40,000 miles. These included engine RPM fluctuations at idle, vibrations under acceleration above 65 MPH, and intermittent misfiring — all symptoms that are now believed to be early indicators of defective lifters or valve train components. I also experienced repeated electrical failures including a rear turn signal malfunction due to melting/corroded taillight sockets, a thumping rear-end noise, differential knocking, and body panel issues (hood lifting at highway speeds). These were reported multiple times to authorized GMC dealers (Mike Haggerty GMC and Rizza GMC), but I was told there was no issue or no repairs were made. GM refused to assist when I escalated the issue in 2017 via a detailed email, despite all problems occurring within the warranty period. I’m now dealing with a persistent ticking sound from the engine and loss of power, which matches widespread reports of lifter failure in GM’s 5.3L/6.2L V8 engines. These failures pose both a mechanical and safety risk due to stalling, misfiring, and potential electrical fires (in my case, from a failed taillight socket). A class action lawsuit ([XXX], et al. v. General Motors LLC) has been filed regarding these known defects, yet GM has not issued a recall. I’m filing this complaint to add my case to the record and urge NHTSA to investigate these issues. While driving, my wife and I heard a bang, and when she went to turn her head, she noticed that the vehicle was smoking from rear defroster, and the back windshield had smashed. we immediately pulled over and the vehicle did not stop smoking until we turned off the rear defroster. This put our safety at risk as the entire vehicle could’ve caught fire. When we went to check to see if it had been recalled, Our vehicle did not have any open recalls But we found that there were many other GMC Sierra trucks with this issue. We contacted our local dealer who confirmed that he had seen this happen to other GMC Sierra trucks. There was no warning light Or other indicator that this was going to happen. Unfortunately, Our vehicle was not included under recall N192265660 and we strongly recommend that another investigation is performed to include all 2014 GMC Sierra trucks. I have a video showing our vehicle smoking with a smashed, sliding Back windshield.

I am experiencing episodic loss of power steering assist without warning. This lasts for several seconds then power steering is restored. "StabiliTrak” message may be displayed during the event. On one occasion my radio also went off when my power steering failed. On one occasion my vehicle died shortly after losing power steering which almost resulted in me having a motor vehicle accident. I reported the problem to the GMC dealership and have scheduled the next available appointment to have it serviced.

The vehicle lost ALL power, completely shut off with no warning while driving. There were no warnings or anything. Was stuck for about 5 minutes and had to let cars go around me (no power and no warning lights, so could not even use hazard lights). I did some reading and it people have said this could be a problem with negative battery cable needs to replaced. The vehicle started about 5 minutes later with no issues and had to reset clock and date.

Electrical glitches happen at both, low speeds and while on the roadway. My steering wheel tightens up and I get a message on the dashboard “Stabilitrak” and another one “assisted steering reduced, drive with care”. My vehicle even shut off on me after pulling in to a parking space after turning steering wheel completely to one side

I know this is a well known issue with these trucks. Have had issues with power steering not working at low speeds which they claim it’s do to low voltage. This has happened numerous times and then on May 3rd I went to back into my driveway off a busy state route with hills on each end of the road. Put my hazard lights on let three vehicles pass and then I turned the wheel and gave it gas soon as the truck got into the middle of the road it shut off. Everything stopped working no hazard lights for about 10seconds and then I had to put the truck into park turn ignition key off and then back on to restart the truck. Again this is all do to low voltage from what everyone else has said with the same issue. There are no warnings what so every even the voltage meter is fine and the truck doesn’t hesitate at all it’s like someone disconnected the battery. I’m sure there is a way for GM to reprogram the pc for the voltage drop. At least have something like radio go out or ac, heat other than the engine and entire electrical shutting off. Something like this is going to get someone killed and GM should be held accountable for these problems.

Back up lights and Tail light problems My Back up lights turn on when the headlights are turned on and do not shut off unless the headlights are off. Also, recently, the rear tail lights were burning out early and would last only two weeks. The source of the problem seems to be in the fuse box. There is no short in the system. It appears to be in the fuse box of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Bulbs were replaced and burned out quickly. Replacement parts are expensive and this problem exists on other Chevrolet and GMC trucks.

At slow speeds, multiple times, I have had the truck completely have an electrical failure and the engine shut off. I have replaced the negative battery cable and ensured all connections are good. This has happened on streets when turning and in parking lots. When this happens all of the screens in the truck flicker and the service stabilitrack light comes on and then everything goes out, to include the engine. Myself, my family, and other drivers have been out at risk when the truck completely shuts off on a street. The dealership has not been able to give me an answer. There are many forums online where the 2014-2018 year models of this and similar GM vehicles have had the same problem. We need a specific fix for this before someone gets seriously injured or killed.

Today I was driving on a residential road and my truck completely stopped while driving. My wheel locked up and I was unable to steer and almost hit another car. This has also happened a few weeks ago while driving on the highway at 70 miles per hour. My vehicle shuts off, I turn the key back and then restart it and I get the following 2 messages: 2 Keys programmed, and Open then close driver window. This is very dangerous and apparently a major problem with other vehicles as I have found the below additional details. This puts my family and others at major risk. I have asked to dealership to look at it but they state they have to keep it for several days and see the issue for themselves, and since it happens so sporadically I cannot be without my vehicle for that amount of time. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?: The truck just stalls and dies without warning, all lights go off inside and outside and all power is lost. From digging on the internet, I found out the problem is due to one or more rusty/defective connection to ground which stops current from flowing and therefore stalls the vehicle and turns everything off. When the truck stalls, power steering and power assisted breaks are not available and this makes the truck very difficult to guide/stop for most people, making it a significant safety risk to occupants as well as others as the likelyhood of a collision increases significantly. In addition, since all electric accessories are disconnected, warning/flashing lights can not be turned on to advise others that the truck has stopped. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem is hard to reproduce because it happens at random times, it has happened to me at least 5 times in the last month or so. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO warning messages or other symptom.

Whenever driving I get a message stating that I need to service my trailer brake system. This is most likely due to cheap wiring installed by the manufacture. This has been going on for over a couple of months. Just recently, I was making a slow turn and my vehicle shut off on me and I lost control of my brakes and steering and all power to the vehicle which is a huge safety concern and I am unsure if they are related or not

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 - 15 MPH with the rear defroster activated on the rear powered sliding window, there was a sizzling sound, and started smelling smoke inside the vehicle. The contact pulled over, stopped, exited the vehicle, started inspecting inside the rear of the vehicle; and saw smoke on the driver’s side rear of the vehicle, between the window and the seatback. While the contact was bent over trying to ascertain where the smoke was coming from, the driver’s side rear window exploded. The contact poured water on the window to put out the smoke. During the explosion the contact sustained a mild concussion and severe earache that lasted for two days; however, medical attention was not needed. The Fire Department and Police Department were contacted and notified of the failure. The contact was informed by the Fire Department that the cause was an electrical system fire. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer to be diagnosed however, the cause for the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

After driving vehicle for about 40 mins from last parked location, i slowed to take a left hand turn, engaged blinker, accelerated while proceeding to turn left. the steering wheel jerked to the Right and sounded an audible "ding" and door locks engaged. upon driving an additional estimated 100 feet, the entire system shut down. (i happened to be turning into a parking lot where there was a car parts store in town) no power at all, nothing on the display panel, all doors remained locked and i was locked inside the vehicle. i placed the gear shift into Park and tried unlocking the doors, which would not unlock due to no power. taking the key out of the ignition and reinserting it and tried to start did nothing. after a few more failed attempts, the interior lights and display screen flashed (glitchy blinking) and after a few more attempts, when the key was turned to the run position I finally had normal power. the doors finally unlocked. seemed as if the system rebooted itself and i had power and was able to start the vehicle. the dash panel showed a message to roll down the drivers side window, then showed a message to roll up the drivers side window. after i followed the prompts, everything returned to normal. i went into the parts store and had them hook up to a code scanner, which did not show any codes, the battery, alternator, and starter were also checked and were fine. i was able to drive home with no problem. I am afraid to drive my truck because i do not want this to happen when driving at a higher rate of speed. I was fortunate to be turning into a parking lot when the event happened. I am fearful of this happening again and causing an accident.

I’m having a trail break system warning every few minutes. It is constant and beeps consistently. To the point where I almost cannot drive it. It won’t go away after a little while and is constantly turning on and off. This just recently occurred and hasn’t stopped since. Likewise there was no other indication of this happening till about two days ago. It’s very distracting and persistent to the point where I feel like I can’t even drive with it on.

Driving 5 mph, error came on and truck shut off completely while still driving, I was able to start it, drove to my destination, about 10 miles away. Parked and turned off truck, came back, the truck was completely dead. replaced the battery and was fine for a month. Yesterday while pulling up to destination on low gear going slow error showed up, the engine revved high then shut down completely. EPS recall and no dates to service yet.

While fixing an exhaust leak on this vehicle, the grounding cable that attaches to the engine block appeared to be chafed, partially crushed, and exposing some copper. The grounding cable runs down the firewall of the passenger side of the vehicle, runs briefly along the frame rail, and passes underneath the exhaust manifold. There is a potential for the cable to not properly ground over time, causing unknown issues. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or dealer as this vehicle is outside of bumper-to-bumper warranty. A support case was opened with GM, but as an individual, they will not allow me to report the issue with pictures. They require the dealer to be the reporter.

When you push on the break the vehicle’s power shuts down. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. When steering wheel is turned it dies. After this happens stabilizer light comes on and power steering assist comes on. No inspection has been done called dealership and they said the recall from 2014 had already been done. This is a very serious issue when driving in traffic and I do not want to be in or cause an accident

From time to time the vehicles power system will surge, blink, and generally act up. The priblem is intermittent. The check engine light will come in then go off, the engine has completely cut off several times while driving, the transmission acts up, radio will turn off, 120v outlet will turn off, occasionally the vehicle will fun for 5-15 seconds after being turned off and then sputter off. And 95% of the time the truck is absolutely fine.

While passing a vehicle I lost all electrical power which in turn caused the vehicle to lose power. This same thing has happened several times at low speeds. I have the vehicle scheduled for July 2 to get looked at. The engined revved extremly high and it seemed like the transmission went into neutral. It then restarted. I had to roll the driver's window down and got a stabili Trak light that came on after the incident.

Vehicle started having random electrical problems including dropping out of cruise when signaling a lane change, not starting due to antitheft system error, stabltrak error message, message to raise & lower drivers side window. Ultimately the engine, steering & brakes failed, fortunately at low speed, and we coasted to a stop after the truck ran over a curb. Our safety was at risk as we could have crashed into something. Others safety was at risk as we could have ended up in their vehicle path. The dealer replaced some ground wires, at great expense, and said that usually fixes it. Which tells me that this is a known problem. Can't believe that it isn't a safety recall!

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SPANNING MULTIPLE YEARS THE TRUCK LOSES POWER WHILE BRAKING AND TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ON MORE RARE OCCASIONS, BUT STILL NUMEROUS, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS WITHOUT TURNING. THE TRUCK DASH LIGHTS, MEDIA SCREEN AND HEADLIGHTS ALL DIM OR FLICKER AS A TICKING OR POPPING NOISE IS HEARD BEHIND THE DASH MUCH LIKE AN ARCHING ELECTRICAL WIRE. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THESE SCENARIOS HAPPEN THE DISPLAY ON THE DRIVERS DISPLAY SCREEN READS STABILTRAK WARNING. ALSO WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE TURNING AND BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS THE TRUCK WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND POWER STEERING AS WELL AS ASSISTED BRAKING. ONCE THE TRUCK COMES TO A STOP THE IGNITION, AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. IN ORDER TO START THE TRUCK AGAIN, I HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK, OPEN THE ENGINE HOOD AND OSCILLATE BOTH THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLES. MOST OF THE TIME THE TRUCK WILL START UP AFTER DOING THIS. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO USE BOOSTER CABLES TO GET IT TO START. NEITHER THE CABLES OR THE TERMINAL CONNECTORS ARE LOOSE AS THEY HAVE BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER SERVICE TECH AND A LOCAL MECHANIC.

AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING THERE WAS A 'BURNING PLASTIC' SMELL AND ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES AFTER THAT A LOUD BANG (ALMOST LIKE A GUNSHOT) AFTER PULLING OVER, I LOOKED AROUND TO FIND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BACK WINDOW WAS BLOWN OUT. LONG STORY SHORT, I CALLED THE DEALER TO SET UP SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM ON MY GMC.....I DON'T THINK IT WAS EITHER DONE OR THE FIX DIDN'T SOLVE IT. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES TOMORROW.....AND I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AND IN MOTION - THE STREET WAS NOT BUMPY, IN FACT IT WAS SNOW COVERED. I THINK THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FIRE HAZARD JUDGING BY THE HORRIFIC SMELL.

2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 4WD ~75K MILES. SOMETIMES WHEN I ROLL UP MY WINDOWS OR USE MY BLINKER AND IT SHUTS OFF CRUISE CONTROL (HWY). AND SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT MY BREAKS MY HEADLIGHTS WILL DIM (HWY, CITY STREETS, PARKING LOTS). WHEN I'M TURNING SLOWLY (IN PARKING LOTS) THE STEELING WILL OCCASIONALLY LOCK UP AND ONCE IT LOST POWER ENTIRELY. MY BATTERY WAS TESTED AT BIGO AND SAID IT WAS FINE. I'VE SEEN THIS ONLINE A LOT FOR THIS TRUCK AND SIMILAR YEARS, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A RESOLUTION. WITH SO MANY INCIDENTS I'M SHOCKED THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX OR ANY IDEA WHAT IS WRONG.

INTERMITTENTLY GETTING "SERVICE STABILITRAK" "ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST POWER REDUCED" MESSAGES WHILE TURNING LEFT AT SPEEDS 30MPH OR LESS. EACH TIME I RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES VERY HARD TO TURN AND JERKS. SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS DIED BUT RESTARTED ITSELF. ON 2 OCCASIONS ( THANKFULLY IN A PARKING LOT AWAY FROM TRAFFIC) THE VEHICLE DIED AFTER THESE MESSAGES AND WOULD NOT RESTART, NO SYSTEMS WOULD RESPOND TO TURNING THE KEY FOR SEVERAL CYCLES. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED I ALSO RECEIVED AN ANTI-THEFT MESSAGE AS WELL. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS BUT GM IS NOT LISTING MY VIN AS AN AFFECTED VEHICLE. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED

THE TRUCK SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING WHICH DISABLES THE POWER STEERING, ENGINE AND POWER BRAKING. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEEMS TO REBOOT AND TURN BACK ON AFTER A SECOND OR TWO. THIS ALSO HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL OR AFTER HITTING THE TURN SIGNAL. I HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DOING 50MPH ON THE HIGH JUST BECAUSE I TURNED MY TURN SIGNAL ON. THIS HAPPENS EVERY 4 WEEKS OR SO. YOU CAN TELL IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS START DEEMING WHEN TAPPING THE BRAKES OR USING THE TURN SIGNAL. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION. IT HAS HAPPENED IN ALL TEMPERATURES. AFTER IT HAPPENS THE CONSOLE STATES "STABLITRAK IS DISABLED".

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND TOOK A TURN THE DASHBOARD CHIMED AND SHOWED A "SERVICE STABILITRAK", AND REDCUTION IN POWER STEERING, AND HVAC WENT OFF AND CAME BACK ON AND I LOST POWER STEERING. EVERYTHING FLASHED AND FLICKERED. UPON FURTHER ASSESSMENT AT MY HOUSE STATIONARY TURNING THE WHEEL REACTIVATED THE PROBLEMS AND IT WAS ALSO NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER AND GO DIM ALONG WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED 4-5 TIMES OVER THE LAST WEEK DRIVING BETWEEN 25-40 MPH. WHILE DRIVING, A WARNING OR NOTIFICATION POPS UP ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN STATING STABILITRACK OFF OR STEERING ASSIST OFF, WHICH STIFFENS THE STEERING WHEEL AND I CAN'T TURN THE TRUCK AT ALL. AT ONE POINT, THE NOTIFICATIONS POPPED UP AND THEN MY A/C WENT OFF AND RADIO WENT OFF ALONG WITH MY ENTIRE VEHICLE. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES, PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND THEN RESTART AT WHICH POINT IT CAME BACK ON AND WORKED UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER AND ASSESS WHAT HAD OCCURRED. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE (800-996-9463) AND ADVISE THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED A RECALL (#17276 - LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST), BUT IT DIDN'T APPLY TO MY VIN#. IT ONLY APPLIED TO 2014 MODELS OF BOTH CHEVROLET SILVERADO LD AND GMC SIERRA LD VEHICLES, WHEREAS MY VEHICLE IS A 2014 GMC SIERRA LTD. THEY ADVISED THAT A GMC DEALER COULD "REPROGRAM THE EPS MODULE SOFTWARE", BUT THE COST WOULD COME OUT OF MY POCKET AND THEY WOULDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE ANY FAULT OR RECALL ISSUE. MY CONCERN IS OBVIOUSLY THE FACT I HAVE KIDS AND TRANSPORT THEM TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND SPORTING EVENTS. I COULDN'T EVEN IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE INJURIES TO PASSENGERS OR THE DRIVER. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS AROUND. THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALSO DIMMED WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THIS TRUCK HAD IT FIXED AT THAT TIME OR NOT. THE WEBSITE TELLS ME THERE IS ONLY ONE OPEN RECALL BUT FOR THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM NOT BRAKES. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING SLOW TURNS AS THE POWER STEERING GIVES OUT AND THE TRUCK INSTANTLY BECOMES NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE (UNCONTROLLABLE FOR MY WIFE) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG AND THE BEST THEY COULD DO WAS PERFORM A SERVICE BULLETIN. ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A NEW BULLETIN THAT HAD A FIX FOR THE G218 GROUND. I CUT BACK THE SOUND DEADENING FROM THE GROUND, YET THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE EITHER. THE TRUCK HAS DONE THIS DOZENS OF TIMES AND IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HOW CAN LOSING STEERING, AIRBAGS, STABILITY CONTROL, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. NOT BE A SAFETY CONCERN?

I HAVE ACCEPTED THE OCCASIONAL NO CRANK NO START, BUT THE IDEA THAT THIS HAPPENED IN DRIVE IS UNACCEPTABLE AND INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS!

THE DAY I RETRIEVED MY TRUCK FROM THE ELECTRICAL SHOP, I STOPPED IN WALMART FOR GROCERIES. MY KEY FOB WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS. I MANUALLY UNLOCKED THE TRUCK TO DETERMINE THAT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START AT ALL. NO PANEL/ INTERIOR LIGHTS, NO RESPONSE IN IGNITION,NO AUTOMATIC UNLOCKING, THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. ROADSIDE SERVICE CAME TO TOW IT, AND THE TRUCK WAS JUMPSTARTED FROM HIS BATTERY PACK. THE KEY FOB BEGAN TO WORK, UNLOCKING,ETC. I TOWED THE TRUCK HOME. I HAVE VIN CHECKED MY TRUCK AND THERE ARE NONE BUT I BELIEVE MY VEHICULAR FAILURE REFERS TO GM PART 573 SAFETY RECALL 17V-414 REGARDING THE LOSS OF EPS. A SECONDARY RECALL WHICH MAY APPLY IS GM# 14V26000 RE STEERING LINKAGES, TIE ROD ASSEMBLY.AS THE "STEER ASSIST' ALERT WAS WHAT I SAW. I HAVE THE WORK INVOICE FROM THE ELECTRICAL SHOP, IF NEEDED.

DURING DRIVING, THE STABILITY SENSORS WOULD GO OFF AND SHOW UP STATING STABILITY TURNED OFF, OR POWER STEERING TURNED OFF. THE VOLTAGE ON VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY DROP FROM 15 TO 9 AND THEN BACK UP. THIS WILL USUALLY TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND ELECTRONICS. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH OTHER 2014 SIERRA AND SILVERADO OWNERS AND THEY ALL ADVISED THIS WAS OCCURING ON THEIR VEHICLES. THERE IS A GROUND WIRE THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED UNDER THE DASH WHICH CAUSES HIGH RESISTANCE MATERIAL TO CAUSE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. DURING ONE OF MY DRIVES TO WORK GOING 60 MPH, THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WHILE COASTING ON NO POWER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD CONTINUE TO GO. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK WHILE STATIONARY AS WELL. AFTER MANY FORUM DISCUSSION THIS ALL RELATED BACK TO THE GROUND WIRE NOT BEING PROPERLY INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

THE REALLY FRUSTRATING PART IS THAT AFTER I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED AND STATED THAT IT WAS A BATTERY CABLE OF SOME SORT THAT WAS MELTING OVER THE EXHAUST. THIS WAS PUBLISHED AS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITHIN THE COMPANY. HOWEVER, NOT A RECALL OR WARRANTY (47,000 MILES). HOW CAN A KNOWN DESIGN PROBLEM ON A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE THAT CAUSES A COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING NOT BE A RECALL OR SAFETY VIOLATION OF SOME SORT? WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR THE POWER CAME BACK ON. I CLOSED THE DOOR STARTED THE TRUCK AND HEADED TO MY HOUSE. I AM HAVING MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD RELEASE , JERK AND LOCK REPEATEDLY, IT HAPPENED ABOUT 4 TIMES WHILE TRYING TO REGAIN CONTROL. AT THE SAME TIME WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE I HAD VIRTUALLY NO BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. LOOKED FOR RECALLS AND ALL I FOUND WERE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, BUT NO SOLUTION OR RECALLS. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL, IT'S GROSS NEGLIGENCE... WHAT IF I WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR TOWING MY TRAILER AT THE TIME. GM AND NHTSA NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST. GOT A STEERING STABILITY INDICATION WHILE DRIVING ACROSS A BUMPY STRIP ON THE HIGHWAY. LATER, I WOULD GET THE INDICATOR, AND WHEN I DID A HARD TURN, I.E. 90 DEGREES, THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. THE DEALERSHIP ISOLATED THE PROBLEM TO A BROKEN GEAR IN THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST, AND REPLACED THE NEGATIVE POWER CABLE ON THE BATTERY. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT $3600.00, BUT GM PAID ABOUT 75%. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE NEGATIVE CABLE EVERY 50,000 MILES BY ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS. ANOTHER PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR AGO CONCERNING THE VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM. I GOT A CHECK ENGINE WARNING, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND THAT THE WHOLE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY COATED WITH FINE DUST. THEY REPLACED THE VAPOR COLLECTION CANISTER AND ASSOCIATED TUBES AND FILTERS AT A COST OF ABOUT $800.00. GM PICKED UP ABOUT 50%. I LATER CHANGED THE LOCATION OF THE VAPOR COLLECTION TUBE FROM THE (VERY DUSTY) WHEEL WELL, TO UNDER THE HOOD WHERE IT WAS PROTECTED FROM THE DUST. I DON'T BELIEVE EITHER OF THESE PROBLEMS TO BE LACK OF PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, BECAUSE NEITHER APPEAR TO BE ABLE TO BE CHECKED OR APPEAR ON REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE MAKING A TURN AT SLOW SPEEDS, AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AT DRIVING SPEEDS. RELOCATING THE INTAKE ON THE VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM APPEARS TO HAVE CURED OR DELAYED THE ONSET OF THE PROBLEM. (I ALSO REMOVE AND BLOW OUT THE FILTER AND THE INTAKE TUBE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR.)

MAYBE THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM? THE A/C THEN TURNED OFF AND THE RADIO VOLUME WENT SILENT. THE STABILITRACK SWITCH, A/C CONTROLS AND RADIO CONTROLS WERE ALL INEFFECTIVE. I NOTICED THE AMP GAUGE WAS BELOW 12 AS IT SEEMED AS IF THE TRUCK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS UNDERPOWERED. I DROVE TEN MILES HOME AND ALL SYSTEMS RESET BY TURNING TRUCK OFF AND STARTING IT UP AGAIN. THIS IS FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. TRUCK HAS 66K MILES ON IT.

USUALLY I GET A MESSAGE WHICH POPS UP ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FORWARD OF THE STEERING WHEEL THAT SAYS 'SERVICE STABILTRAC' OR 'ACTION REQUIRED, STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE.' IT SEEMS THERE IS A STEERING MALFUNCTION BECAUSE THIS ISSUE USUALLY OCCURS WHILE MAKING A TURN BUT THE TRUCK HAS HAD THIS SAME ERROR MESSAGE WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM UNSURE OF WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT I DO KNOW IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED.
