The brakes on my GMC Sierra 1500 lose braking power when operating at slow speeds. The brake pedal will lose braking power, causing the vehicle to not stop at slow speeds. This is particularly troubling when pulling into and out of parking spots, driveways, crosswalks, and other areas. I use my truck to pull a boat and when I back my boat into the water at a boat launch, the brakes will lose power when I am in reverse causing the truck to slid into the water.

I am experiencing an issue with a hard brake pedal on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. This same issue was previously addressed through a recall and special coverage program by GM, which I had performed. However, the hard brake pedal condition has returned, significantly impairing stopping power at low speeds. This poses a serious safety risk, especially when towing or parking. I can no longer park my trailer safely. The vehicle is difficult to stop, and braking distance has increased substantially. This is a known issue with this model and year. It appears the prior recall may not have adequately resolved the root cause. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether additional action or recall extensions are warranted.

This vehicle has the same issue as other recalled GMC Sierra vehicles - the brake booster pump is failing, causing braking difficulty, particularly at low RPM and after repeated presses of the brake pedal.

I was backing my boat down the ramp and the brakes were giving out. I know this was a recall issue, in the past, that I had repaired. Clearly, they repaired it with the same faulty part because it has happened again. When I took it to be repaired they said I had to pay for it this time. The issue wasn't resolved but only deferred until later, with a temporary fix. I could have ended up in the river and drowned. Paying the dealership to fix a safety issue caused by their defective parts is ridiculous.

When I am braking at low speed my brakes start locking up and eventually do not work. This has happened on multiple occasions. I have almost wrecked multiple times I rarely drive my truck now cause it is unsafe. There is a recall on the brake booster 2014 to 2018 gmc seria but my truck vin is not included on that recall and it’s doing the exact same thing. GM recalls 3.4 million pickups and SUVs over brake pump Sept. 12, 2019 1 The recall includes the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra (model years 2014-2018), and affects a vacuum pump defect that may make it more difficult to brake at low speeds.

Noticed that there was a recall on this vehicle NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000. My concern is that I took my vehicle in back in 2018/2019 for this repair. However my vehicle vacuum pump completely failed the other day where I cannot brake. My vehicle is only at 70,800 and fail to see that if a proper repair was completed back in 2018/2019 for it to fail again a couple of years later with low mileage. While I was able to get this vehicle home safely my concern is that if it failed earlier in the day on the highway I may have cause a serious incident.

Going under 15mph, applying the brake causes the pedal to become stiff and lock up and not work. This has caused me to almost hit someone in traffic. I immediately got off the road and got my vehicle to a safe location off the road . Communicating with a dealer today to confirm possible recall issue or potential repairs.

"Service Trailer Brake System" alert on dash. This is a safety concern for 2 reasons; the first being the chime made to warn the driver is distracting, persistent, and annoying. The second is the trailer brake system is apparently not functioning properly which is a danger while towing. This is not the first time this has happened and is a danger to me, my family, and other on the road.

Whenever driving I get a message stating that I need to service my trailer brake system. This is most likely due to cheap wiring installed by the manufacture. This has been going on for over a couple of months. Just recently, I was making a slow turn and my vehicle shut off on me and I lost control of my brakes and steering and all power to the vehicle which is a huge safety concern and I am unsure if they are related or not

Hello, I am driving a 2014 Sierra truck with 17,761 miles, my father’s work truck. The first week I had No problems, the 2nd week the Trailer Brake warning came on relentlessly. New truck, scary Warning sign! I took it to GMC to dislocate trailer brake, they sold me a $340 trailer brake control switch. Upon my return to where I live a loud sound came from when I was idling to wait for construction to accelerating. I noticed once I got home, my back wheels were hot and a burning smell! I hate when you take your car in for one warning sign and you get something so much worst and you paid outrageously for that! Karma!

I was driving my truck when the Brake assist light came on. When applied the brakes they started pulsing and grabbing. I took it in for service and was told that the Electronic Brake Control Module needed to be replaced and the brake fluid flushed.

I’m having a trail break system warning every few minutes. It is constant and beeps consistently. To the point where I almost cannot drive it. It won’t go away after a little while and is constantly turning on and off. This just recently occurred and hasn’t stopped since. Likewise there was no other indication of this happening till about two days ago. It’s very distracting and persistent to the point where I feel like I can’t even drive with it on.

Driving at certain speeds the truck will just shut off while trying to turn or merge onto the highway. The electronic steering draws to much voltage on the vehicle and it just dies turning and braking after that is a very serious safety hazard and should be looked into I’m a mechanic myself and I’ve replaced grounds done everything I can and still nothing has fixed the issue

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SPANNING MULTIPLE YEARS THE TRUCK LOSES POWER WHILE BRAKING AND TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ON MORE RARE OCCASIONS, BUT STILL NUMEROUS, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS WITHOUT TURNING. THE TRUCK DASH LIGHTS, MEDIA SCREEN AND HEADLIGHTS ALL DIM OR FLICKER AS A TICKING OR POPPING NOISE IS HEARD BEHIND THE DASH MUCH LIKE AN ARCHING ELECTRICAL WIRE. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THESE SCENARIOS HAPPEN THE DISPLAY ON THE DRIVERS DISPLAY SCREEN READS STABILTRAK WARNING. ALSO WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE TURNING AND BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS THE TRUCK WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND POWER STEERING AS WELL AS ASSISTED BRAKING. ONCE THE TRUCK COMES TO A STOP THE IGNITION, AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. IN ORDER TO START THE TRUCK AGAIN, I HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK, OPEN THE ENGINE HOOD AND OSCILLATE BOTH THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLES. MOST OF THE TIME THE TRUCK WILL START UP AFTER DOING THIS. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO USE BOOSTER CABLES TO GET IT TO START. NEITHER THE CABLES OR THE TERMINAL CONNECTORS ARE LOOSE AS THEY HAVE BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER SERVICE TECH AND A LOCAL MECHANIC.

WAS IN DRIVEWAY, STARTED THE CAR AND THEN PUT FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. AS SOON AS I WAS IN DRIVE I BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE. I THEN HAD TO REALLY STEP ON THE BRAKE (IT WAS VERY HARD TO APPLY PRESSURE) TO GET IT TO STOP ROLLING. I THEN IMMEDIATELY PLACED IT IN PARK. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY, ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS, OR WHEN SWITCHING FROM THE PARKED POSITION TO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO PARK (CHILD COULD BE INJURED IN DRIVEWAY) OR SLOWING DOWN IN A PARKING LOT OR COULD CAUSE A COLLISION IN TRAFFIC!

SOME TIME TRAVELING BETWEEN 60-70 MPH THE TRUCK HAS A VIBRATION OR SOMETHING, BUT IF I TAP THE BREAK PEDAL IT STOPS. I'VE HAD THIS FOUR TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE. TOOK TRUCK TO THE DEALER, THEY FOUND NO CODE LISTED. JUST THIS WEEKEND AS I WAS EXITING THE INTERSTATE RAMP TO I-71 SOUTH THE TRUCK WAS SLOWING DOWN AND I HAD PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS AS IF THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS BEING APPLIED, TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE . BREAK PEDAL WAS VERY HARD TO PRESS. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTARTED, PEDAL WAS STILL VERY FIRM BUT AFTER PUMPING PEDAL, I HEARD THIS SOUND LIKE YOU WERE PASSING GSS YOURSELF AND THEN THE PETAL WAS BACK TO NORMAL. I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT CAUSE A WRECK AS MY SPEED WAS BEING REDUCED TO A SLOW SPEED HAVING TO PULL ON INTERSTATE.

THIS ISSUE RELATES WITH A RECENT RECALL WITH THE GM BRAKE SYSTEM (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 / GM RECALL NUMBER: N192268490). THE RECALL FIX BY GM FAILS TO FULLY FIX THE PROBLEM AS ADDITIONAL REPAIRS ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE THE VEHICLE SAFE AGAIN. THE INCIDENT BEGAN WHEN GOING DOWN A HILL AT LOW SPEED. A MESSAGE CAME ON THE DASH THAT SAID "SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST" AND THE BRAKES SEEMED TO LOSE POWER WHICH REQUIRED THE DRIVER THE USE BOTH FEET TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT A CRASH INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. THE BRAKES REGAINED NORMAL FUNCTION FOR A WHILE THEN A FEW MILES LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THIS WENT ON FOR FOR A WHILE LONGER UNTIL THE NEED TO USE BOTH FEET TO ACHIEVE FULL STOPPING POWER WAS PERMANENT. DRIVER PULLED OVER AND, THROUGH AN INTERNET SEARCH, DISCOVERED MANY OTHERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH A LOCAL GM DEALER AND THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF FOR REPAIR. THE GM DEALER CALLED THE DRIVER AND INFORMED HIM THAT ADDITIONAL REPAIRS, BEYOND THE RECALL INSTRUCTIONS, WERE REQUIRED FOR THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES TO FUNCTION ADEQUATELY AND SAFELY. THIS INCLUDED REPLACING THE BOOSTER PUMP, BRAKE PADS, TO "RELINE THE FRT BRAKES AS NEEDED."

THE VEHICLE SPUN 180 DEGREES AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL DISLODGED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 150 YARDS FROM THE CRASH SIGHT. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BRUISED NECK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: SPC32B7N80X WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT A 10-INCH SECTION OF THE BRAKE ROTOR WAS MISSING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY SERVICED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE MANUFACTURER AND HUDSON GMC (2023 SOUTH RD, POUGHKEEPSIE, NY) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE CONTACT'S WIFE DID SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE OTHER DRIVER SUSTAINED BRUISED LEG INJURIES NAD IT WAS UNKNOWN IF MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS SOUGHT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE COSMETIC DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CRASH WAS NOT IN RELATION TO ANY OPEN RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ABELOSS GMC (1169 NORTH 9TH ST, STROUGSBURG PA, 18360) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED IN THE SPRING OF 2018. I HAD EXITED THE HIGHWAY AFTER A 25 MINUTE DRIVE AND SAT IN A LONG LINE TO ENTER A BALLPARK. THE WAIT IN THIS SLOW MOVING LINE MAY HAVE BEEN A HALF HOUR. IN THIS HALF HOUR, I WOULD LET OFF THE BRAKE TO ROLL FORWARD AND REAPPLY THE BRAKE. IT WAS MOSTLY DOWN HILL SO THE GAS PEDAL WAS UNNECESSARY. WHEN WE PAYED FOR PARKING, WE WERE ASKED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, POINTING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION FOR PARKING. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK. AFTER ISSUES WERE RESOLVED, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND TURNED AROUND FOR PARKING. IT WAS HERE THAT I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO GET BACK IN LINE, BUT WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE AS I ENTERED MY SPOT, THE BRAKE REFUSED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE, BRACING MY BACK AGAINST THE SEAT BACK REST, AND COULD FEEL US SLOWING, BUT NOT TO THE DEGREE I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND THE SPEED I WAS SLOWING DOWN FROM COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 15 MPH. AS WE ENTERED THE PARKING LOT, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. I COULD ONLY SLOW THE VEHICLE BY BRACING AGAINST THE BRAKE PEDAL. I COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO SUDDEN STOP FROM A ROLLING SPEED. I REVERSED INTO MY PARKING SPOT, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE, AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I RETURNED FROM THE BALL GAME, I STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP, TOOK OFF THE PARKING BRAKE, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND TESTED THE BRAKES IN THE PARKING LOT. THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED LIKE NORMAL. DEPRESSING THE BRAKES HARD WOULD MAKE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOP. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE. I HAVE NOT RETURNED TO THE BALLPARK YET, BUT I HAVE BEEN IN TRAFFIC JAMS AND BEEN TO OTHER ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS WHICH WOULD SIMULATE THE SAME SITUATIONS.

THE CONDITION PERSISTED WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY IN A LOOP AROUND THE PARKING LOT PUMPING THE BRAKES A COUPLE TIMES AND THE PEDAL FINALLY RETURNED TO NORMAL. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS CONDITION OCCURRED OR HAD I BEEN TOWING OUR 5K-LB TRAILER THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I LOCATED A COPY OF A SERVICE BULLETIN PUBLISHED INTERNALLY BY GM DISCUSSING THE ISSUE AND PRESCRIBING A REPAIR PROCEDURE. THE BULLETIN NOTED THAT IF ENGINE OIL ESCAPED PAST THE SEAL(S) OF THE FAILING VACUUM PUMP REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, AND VACUUM LINE MAY BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO THE PUMP. GIVEN THE APPEARANCE OF THIS AS A COMMON ISSUE, FEAR OF LOSING BRAKES AGAIN, AND FEARING THAT WAITING MAY NECESSITATE OTHER BRAKING COMPONENTS UNDER THE HOOD NEEDING REPLACEMENT IF THE OIL SEEPED THROUGH THE PUMP, I PROMPTLY REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP. FOLLOWING THE REPAIR PROCEDURE PRESCRIBED IN THE GM BULLETIN THERE WAS NO ENGINE OIL NOTED IN THE VACUUM LINE SO NO FURTHER PARTS WERE REPLACED OTHER THAN THE PUMP AND GASKET. CONDITION HAS NOT REPEATED AFTER REPLACING PUMP 1K MILES AGO. VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 65K MILES WHEN THIS CONDITION OCCURRED.

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN A COLLISION, DAMAGE AND/OR INJURY. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THIS TRUCK FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN 2017. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN PARKING, MOVING TRAILERS, AN MANEUVERING AT LOW VEHICLE SPEEDS. THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY BECOMES STIFF WHEN DEPRESSING AND HAS LIMITED OR NO BRAKING ACTION UNLESS APPLYING EXTREME AMOUNTS OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE DRIVEN VEHICLES WITHOUT POWER BRAKES AND THIS IS NOT THE SAME. IT IS AS IF THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS WORKING AGAINST THE INPUT OF THE PEDAL IN ADDITION TO THE LOSS OF POWER BRAKE ACTION. THE MOST CONCERNING EVENT WAS EXPERIENCED WHILE BACKING A BOAT TRAILER INTO THE WATER WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT, BUCKLED IN CHILD RESTRAINING CAR SEATS AND PUSHING WITH BOTH FEET USING ALL MY STRENGTH TO BARELY STOP THE TRUCK AND TRAILER FROM ROLLING ALL THE WAY INTO THE WATER. THIS WAS A TRUE NIGHTMARE, AND IS THE REASON I AM SUBMITTING THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT. HAD MY WIFE BEEN OPERATING THE TRUCK OR A PERSON WITH WEAKER LEGS IN THE SAME SITUATION, THE ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY TRAGIC. I CANNOT SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED. VACUUM SYSTEM ON THE BREAKS ARE LOOSING PRESSURE CAUSING THE BREAKS TO BECOME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DEPRESS. I HAVE RUN IN TO MY FENCE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. GM HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE VACUM PUMP FAILING ON THE 2014 AND UP 1500 SERIES TRUCKS. GM HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLENTIN PIT5361 FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN THE VACUM PUMP FAILS THE BRAKES BECOME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO APPLY. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM IT IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE THAT MANY HAVE HAD. MY GMC STARTED THIS AT ABOUT THE 49,500 MILE SPOT AND HAS CAUSED ME TO STRIKE A WALL AND ALMOST A PEDESTRIAN IN A PARKING LOT. THANKFULLY I WAS ON MY TOES AND AVOIDED HITTING THE PEDESTRIAN. IM A BIG MAN AT ABOUT 265LBS. WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL TO WORK I CANT PRESS THE PEDAL HARD ENOUGH WITH BOTH FEET TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IM CURRENTLY WAITING ON GM TO RETURN A CALL FOR ASSISTANCE IN FIXING THE PROBLEM AS THIS IS A COSTLY FIX. BRAKING IS A VITAL AND HIGH SAFETY FEATURE ON A VEHICLE. WHY THIS HASNT BEEN ADDRESSED BEFORE A FAMILY IS KILLED IS BEYOND ME. ISSUING A SERVICE BULLENTINE INSTEAD A RECALL FOR SUCH A VITAL PART A VEHICLE IS RECKLESS.

2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 DENALI PICK-UP TRUCK WITH 67,900 MILES: EXPERIENCED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER BRAKES IN STOP-N-GO TRAFFIC SITUATION ON HIGHWAY. PROBLEM STARTED AS AN RARE ISSUE THAT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF AND PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE OVER A WEEK'S TIME. ISSUE OCCURRED WHEN IN TRAFFIC REQUIRING FREQUENT STOP-N-GO BRAKING. BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND STOPPING DISTANCES DRAMATICALLY INCREASED. HAD NO WAY TO MANUALLY APPLY THE BRAKES TO GET THEM FULLY ENGAGED. ULTIMATELY FORCED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLY PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND GM BULLETIN #PIT5361B REFERRING TO OTHER CUSTOMER PROBLEMS WITH WEAK VACUUM AT BRAKE BOOSTER. THAT PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED AND DIAGNOSED BY MY AUTOMOTIVE PROFESSIONAL. ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, VACUUM BOOSTER, VACUUM PUMP, VACUUM TUBE/PIPE AND 2 SERPENTINE BELTS FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $1626.00 IN REPAIR WORK (SIMILAR AMOUNT TO THE OTHERS I FOUND WHO EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE). TALKED TO MY GMC DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A RECOGNIZED ISSUE THAT HASN'T YET RISEN TO THE LEVEL OF A "SAFETY RECALL". HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD "STAY TUNED" BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF A RECALL ON THE POWER BRAKE SYSTEM WAS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER.

TAKATA RECALL. DRIVING THROUGH THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND DIDNT STOP. I RELEASED PEDAL AND PRESSED AGAIN AND IT WAS VERY FIRM AND HARD TO GET THE TRUCK TO SLOW DOWN/ STOP. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE SYSTEM SHOWED NO SIGNS OF SYSTEM FAILING. IF WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION WITH HAVING MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. IM VERY THANKFUL THAT IT DIDNT END A LOT WORSE LIKE IT COULD HAVE. ALL IN ALL I DROVE 4 HOURS TO GATLINBURG WITH NO SIGNS OF ISSUES AND FOR IT TO JUST GO OUT WITHOUT A WARNING SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ASSIST FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

INTERMITTENTLY, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE WANTS TO KEEP THE VEHICLE GOING AT THE SAME SPEED AND FIGHTS THE BRAKE SO THE VEHICLE CANNOT STOP. SHIFTING THE GEAR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL ALLOWS THE BRAKES TO WORK BUT THE ENGINE RPM REVS UP TO 2500 RPM FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS BEFORE DROPPING TO IDLE. IF THE DRIVER DIDN'T APPLY THE BRAKES HARD ENOUGH OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERPOWER THE BRAKES AND DRIVE INTO ANYTHING AHEAD. ANALOGY: IT ACTS AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON (AND IT'S NOT) AND TRIED TO KEEP THE SAME FORWARD SPEED NO MATTER THE BRAKE APPLICATION. DEALER CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, NO ALERT WARNING LIGHT. SOME TIMES, GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, TAKING FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND EXPECTING VEHICLE TO START SLOWING DOWN, IT STAYS AT SAME SPEED FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS BEFORE DROPPING RPMS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING, INTERMITTENTLY, FOR A FEW MONTHS.

DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER LARGE VACUUM LEAK, EXTRA PRESSURE IS NEEDED TO APPLY BRAKES. BRAKES ARE ESSENTIALLY NON EXISTENT IN VEHICLE. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BY DEALER. DEALER STATES THIS IS NOT A NORMAL PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AND THIS UNEXPECTEDLY HAPPENS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. I UNDERSTAND THIS WAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 MALIBU. REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE ON ORDER UNKNOWN WHEN EXPECTED DUE TO THIS NOT BEING A PART REGULARLY REPLACED (PER DEALER).

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A EXCESSIVE VOLTAGE DROP RESULTED IN A LOSS OF POWER WITH THE MANUAL TRAILER BRAKE, THE BCM, ELECTRONIC BCM, ECM, STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,416.
