Starting vehicle in parking lot and backing out of parking space. Brakes failed and truck continued to roll backwards almost hitting a pedestrian. I was able to stop hard on the pedal and stop the vehicle. This has happened several times. I have a steep driveway and backing down to the street the brake pedal will unexpectedly have little resistance and the truck will continue to roll into the street almost hitting oncoming traffic.
Brake pedal pivot nut came loose and fell off while driving.
I was driving pulling an empty small U-Haul trailer and attempted to pull in to a fuel station when my brake became impossible to depress. I barely was able to miss hitting gas pumps and ran down into a ditch before the truck stopped. I informed the dealership where I had just purchased this truck used. I took it to their service department and I was told there was no issues with the brakes. They had to have this recall bulletin in their computer system yet failed to make me aware or to perform this recall or report it to GM. The problem continues to worsen to the point I am scared to drive it. I almost rear ended another car at a stoplight yesterday because I was unable to depress the brake pedal. I stood on the brake and heard an electronic sound but finally came to a stop.
I've had problems with the brakes for several years, the pedal is very hard at low speed. I've seen a recall but not on my car???
"NHTSA campaign: 19V645000 AS the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash." Our vehicle was serviced and repaired for this problem under the recall on 9/6/2019, however, it is now happening again. Is there a second recall for this problem, and/or what can be done to remedy the defective equipment?
upon applying brake pedal at low speeds the brake is hard to depress and "choppy" in reacting. this seems same as N192268490 Increased Brake Pedal Effort yet the gmc denali is not apparently in the recall. This has happened on several occassions.
The brake system failed in a parking lot three times within a month. It’s related to the special policy and recall regarding the vacuum and the loss of brakes at slower speeds and in reverse. The first two accidents were very minor creating no damage. The third one was at 10mph when I lost my brakes and crashed into a concrete barrier in a parking structure causing significant damage to my truck. I did not get injured but I have a wife and two kids that I am so grateful were not in the truck for the third one with major damage. With that being said my son was in the truck the second time it happened when I crashed into a parked vehicle in a parking lot because I was unable to stop which made me very frustrated and worried for my families safety in my truck. The first accident was in a parking lot where I was backing up and lost the brakes and crashed into a building which is my veterinary office causing damage to the building. Therefore after the first crash due to this issue I have decided that driving with my family in the truck is not an option anymore. It is very disappointing that a truck I purchased for the functionality and safety of having my wife and kids in it is no longer safe for passengers or myself in it. This problem is very reproducible and is a major concern for my family and my safety. It was towed to a GMC dealership in Waukesha and is being inspected and they have stated it is reproducible. No warning lamps or messages were indicated for this issue. The truck will next need to get towed to Crash Champions auto body repair to ultimately get repaired which will take another month. All of this is a major inconvenience as I am a full time firefighter and in paramedic school as well. Not having a reliable safe vehicle for an extended period of time has caused great stress and inconvenience to my family. I’m hoping and praying that something can be done about this quickly and promptly to make this right. Thank you.
Brakes fail at low speeds
Intermittently with slow driving such as parking maneuvers or creeping slow traffic at stop lights the brake pedal becomes very soft and depresses much more than normal and the brake action is decreased. Sometimes with this soft pedal it sounds like ABS is engaging. Pumping pedal sometimes restores brake performance.

Rainy road, 60mph on the hw with my family. Truck decides to engage stabilitrak or something to that feel and locked up the brakes. Talk about a scary moment with an 18 wheeler coming in hot behind you. Obviously, in the moment, I had no clue what was happening other than something with the truck was malfunctioning. This scenario could have gone wrong in so many ways. I'm honestly in shock someone has not been killed because of this?
The brake vacuum pump is failing. When in a parking lot the brakes get very hard al.ist causing an accident. There is no vacuum when trying to park in parking lot. The 2015 GMC Sierra had a recall for this but my VIN did not. Not sure why as it's failing too. I need my truck so will have it fixed today, but want a recall.
Constant “service trailer brakes” warning on dash. I Haven’t done anything to cause it.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was firm while being depressed. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently while parking or while at a stop. The brake pedal failed to operate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The engine power reduced message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake booster pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 66,476.

Problem # 1At low speeds /parking I loose power that affects steering the radio and windows. I get a message on board stability warning message. Steering become hard and can’t control/turn the vehicle Problem #2 at low speeds /parking my brakes loose power I have to press brake really hard to stop truck.
In several occasions my brake when approaching stop sign or light and I hit my brakes more than once it goes to the floor and it become difficult to stop without having to push very hard on the brake pedal. It does it almost every time.

The independent mechanic determined that the vehicle had experienced an unknown failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. I tried to buy a car at car dealershipin lafayette oregon ( Pouya Auto sales) gmc sierra 2015 black . on the date 02/09/2023 . They soldme this car with ABS ,cruscontrol, presusre tires ligths on dashbord . the financial bank recomend me to bring the veicule back to the dealership to have them to fixed . . they didnt want to continue with the contract anymore and canseled . now they want to sell the truck to some one else . and is not safe to drive it with this isuuses

The Truck has something wrong with the Trailer braking system. with no notice it display "Service Trailer Braking system" in the DIC. This will cause loss of brakes to the trailer and make it very difficult to stop with the trailer. Everything functions properly and at a random moment they will just stop working.
Trailer brake system Warning
Purchased GMC Sierra C1500 new in 2015 from a dealership in Orange County, CA. Experienced multiple issues over the past 4 years with the "Trailer Brake System" Service light and loud beeping which has created multiple safety issues making the vehicle undrivable at times. The last incident was while on a cross country road trip through extreme heat in the Southwest from Texas to California in June and most recently while visiting Orange County. The beeping noise almost caused a couple of accidents as the hands free phone system was inoperable due to the loud warning beeping noise as it went on and off about 50 times. We were required to take several risky maneuvers to pull the vehicle off heavy highway traffic at high speeds to stop the engine and restart in an attempt to reset the warning beeping system without success. The truck was checked in for service on 07.20.2022 at Tustin Buick GMC. Mr. John Boozer, Service Advisor. 714.669.3699. The total cost of repairs is $465 plus car rental of $80. Additional costs in April of 2019 for the repairs included fuse replacement, check of wiring harness and attempt to stop the beeping noise was $150. The defective wiring harness originally installed by GMC when the truck was built will be preserved and is available should your agency request it. Total costs out of pocket to replace or fix this factory defective part is $695. GMC has made no effort to address this issue or offer any recall notices related the failure of the "Trailer Brake Warning System". Thank you for your attention to this matter.
On July 18, 2022 my trailer brakes suddenly stopped functioning ( a few hours from home) Not only did did the trailer brakes stop functioning, but this warning message didn't popped up just one time, it kept coming again and again and again and again, relentlessy chiming and distracting me from driving. it covered my speedometer readout. it prevented me from receiving or making voice commands. the service warning chime also prevented the turn signal from functioning. So for a full 4 hours I was constantly reminded and was unable to receive calls or make voice commands. i absolutely wont hesitate to say the vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. your vehicle's defect endangered my life. I will not hesitate to say your vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. Your vehicles defect endangered my life! Lastly, my vehicle did not want to start the next morning!!
My truck has just over 54,000 miles on it. I bought it new and have treated it well. It's my "Sunday" truck. Without warning, yesterday while carrying my wife to a doctor's appointment, as I pulled into a parking space to park ... I had almost no brakes. I actually jumped on the emergency brake to aid me in getting stopped. After my wife had gone in for her appointment, I slowly moved the truck around the open areas of the parking lot trying to figure out what the problem was. I checked the brake fluid, looked to make sure I hadn't lost a brake pad or something else weird and found that everything was good. What I did find though was that the only time the truck had any issue was when I was moving under maybe 4 or 5 mph. And in fairness ... I discovered the truck did have some tiny (but I do mean tiny) amount of braking ability at that low speed, but to say that the experience was unnerving would be a terrible understatement. Had someone been standing between me and the vehicle I was parking in front of when I experienced this, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would have pinned them between our vehicles, or God forbid, something worse. I don't know what's going on here, but there's definitely something going on with the brake system at low speed on this GMC.
Trailer brake service alarm. Replaced module under stair tire and dash board. Still in alarm, internet says it’s a common problem with wiring harness failure. Many others have some problem.
I keep getting a dashboard warning saying "service trailer brake system". from what i have found, this is due to an inexpensive wiring harness being used. It's very distracting and even if i dismiss the error, it keeps coming back up.
Was driving in a parking lot. When driving slow My brakes got stiff and I couldn’t stop it was so stiff it didn’t want to stop I had my kids and wife. Scary and unsafe. Told GMC there was a recall they said it was already fixed with my situation. But just cuz you see on the computer it doesn’t mean it’s fixed. So they said I got to pay but it’s in a recall already but properly not reboot right.

The brake pedal gets hard to push down when slowing down and especially when backing up slowly. After looking into some things I'm pretty sure the problem is with the vacuum pump.
at first my brakes began locking up on the vehicle, almost as if they were pumped full and not able to press down any longer, shortly after that the stabilitrack light came on and white smoke began to come out of the exhaust as well as a slight shake in the engine, i immediately turned the vehicle off and parked it, mind you i bought the vehicle 1 day ago and it is already broke down, the issue is with gmc and these sensors they are using they are faulty engine reduces speed and it is not safe to say the least.not only that but had the exact same problems with my Gmc Acadia which i finally got the light to stop going off after replacing transmission, brake pedal position censor, as well as gas pedal position censor, also had the throttle body replaced, Do you all make products that are worth anything, nothing was ever done about the Acadia, the Gmc sierra is a 2015 with 70,000 miles on it this car should not be acting like this please contact me at [XXX] thank you so much for your time, also there are 14 recalls on this year truck yet mine shows that there are 0 recalls to be fixed I am wondering about this as well. Service Trailer Brake Brake System error keeps flashing.
The component that malfunctioned is the vehicle braking system at slow speeds. I first experienced the problem at a restaurant drive thru line. After several stops as the line advanced, the braking system failed (extremely hard pedal) and car kept advancing and if someone would have been directly in front of me ( at a normal distance for a drive thru ) I would have made contact with them at a slow speed. I checked with my dealer the next day and they said that there were no reported problems for this issue on my vehicle. No warning lamps or messages present but it seems to me to be similar to the recall ( N192268490 ) as it only happens at slow speed with repeated application of the brake. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to this incident and it took me completely by surprise. I took the vehicle in to a service facility and they test drove it and said that they did not recreate the failure but I believe that they didn't try repeated braking at slow speed as I requested. I feel that there is a problem and that it only shows up during the aforementioned driving conditions. I have checked your website and the manufacturers and my truck VIN doesn't show up for their computer reprogramming recall but think that maybe it should.
Trailer Brake system warning continues to pop up on my dash along with the chimes. Not sure if this will affect my braking or not, but I pull a 32' camper and am continually concerned about this warning. It happens randomly not just when towing a camper. It has been in to a GMC dealer and they say nothing can be done about it due to no recalls.
Alert of “service trailer brake system” keeps beeping and alerting many times while driving
The first issue is popping coming from the front end of the vehicle causing a steering issue. This has been "repaired" multiple times with no resolution. Every time the popping occurs which is almost every turn the steering wheel will not turn. The next issue is the radio is causing driver distraction by changing stations and screens not just on the display itself but the instrument cluster as well. The radio has been replaced once due to the fact it was on backorder for 6 months another attempt has not been made. The third issue is the brakes have failed at slow speeds no warning lights were on, they just stopped working in the Mcdonald's drive-through. I had to get out of line to keep from rear-ending the person in front of me. Now, after that experience, the ABS light has come on and the service StabiliTrak flashes on the dash as well as parking assist off, everytime I hit the brakes. .
Brakes do not work under slow speeds. Pumping breaks at slow speeds (parking lot speeds) causes break pedal to stiffen and the vehicle's breaks are not responsive. When this happens, I feel what seems to be ABS engaging (break pedal pulsates). The pulsating is only noticable in the break pedal. This behavior seems more prevalent in inclement weather.
BRAKES BECOMES HARD WHEN BACKING UP AT VERY LOW SPEED AND SOMETIMES IT FEEL LIKE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE IS ACTIVATED. USUALLY HAPPEN WHEN BACKING UP
Whenever I connect a trailer to my vehicle I will lose all brake pressure when in reverse. It only happens when in reverse and connected to a trailer. I will have to pump my brakes to the floor and there's no braking power. This does not happen when I do not have a trailer connected.
I was towing a camper down Rt 422 in Butler, PA in my GMC truck when it suddenly caught fire. My wife was following me and alerted me to pull over as quickly as possible. I had no brakes and the gear shifter went straight up without shifting. The doors would also not open while the truck was filling with smoke. I got out using the manual unlock knob and am lucky to be alive. We had about one minute to try to extinguish the flames before it fully engulfed both my truck and camper. I filed a complaint with GMC. By what I am reading online there are many instances of fires and GMC does not seem to provide assistance. This is very unnerving and scary to say the least. I am sad and angry for this situation. This happened through no fault of my own and I lost absolutely everything. I was in the middle of moving to start a new job and lost many work items in my truck as well. I had to delay my start date for work. Now I am responsible for deductables, insurance increases and other items not covered by my insurance. Now I have to buy a new vehicle and camper but what will GMC do to help me? Probably nothing.

SUPPOSEDLY THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN FIXED FOR THE RECALL, HOWEVER, IF I AM DRIVING AS LOW SPEEDS LIKE IN A PARKING LOT, THE ABS WILL KICK IN CAUSING ME TO NOT COME TO A STOP WHEN NEEDED. I HAVE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL VEHICLES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE RADIO WORKING, SPECIFICALLY BEING ABLE TO ADJUST THE SOUND LEVEL. I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE MIRRORS BEING ABLE TO MOVE LIKE THEY SHOULD. BOTH OF THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE PERMANENT, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I AM PARKED OR DRIVING, THEY DO NOT WORK AT ALL. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN OCCURRING FOR YEARS AND THERE WAS NO CHANGE WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR THE RECALL. THE MOST RECENT ISSUE IS NOW MY EVAP SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT THAT WILL COST TO FIX ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT. CAN'T WAIT TO GET THAT BILL!
BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE LIKE IT SHOULD. THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ALREADY ON IT FOR THE VACUUM PUMP FAILING CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. I GOT THE RECALL REMEDIED ( SUPPOSEDLY BY INCREASING THE VACUUM PRESSURE BUT NOW 6 TO 7 MONTHS LATER THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRIVING IN LOW SPEEDS DOWN RESIDENTIAL AREAS WITH KIDS PLAYING ETC AND YOUR BRAKES FAIL YOU THIS ULTIMATELY CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS INJURY IF NOT DEATH. AND TO KNOW THEY PUT A RECALL OUT THAT SUPPOSEDLY FIXES THE ISSUE AND IT DOSENT FIX ANYTHING MAKES IT WORSE BECAUSE YOUR CHEAP AND DONT WANT TO REPLACE A VACUUM PUMP IS UTTERLY DISTURBING AND DISGUSTING

I RECEIVED A SECOND LETTER AND TOOK IT BACK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE REPROGRAM HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED AND THAT WAS ALL THEY COULD DO. I HAD IT AT THE MECHANIC FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD I WAS GOING TO NEED A NEW BRAKE VACUUM. HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME HARD BREAKING ISSUE WHEN HE WAS TEST DRIVING IT. I TRAVEL AND DRIVE MY TRUCK A LOT AND MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

THIS HAPPENS AT LOW LOW SPEEDS - CRAWLING TRAFFIC, PARKING LOTS ETC.... I GOT TO TAP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW A BIT AND NOTHING OCCURS - OR THE PEDAL PUSHES BACK AT ME GIVING ME NO BRAKES. I HAVE TO COMPLETELY DISENGAGE THE PEDAL AND THEN FORCEFULLY ENGAGE THE PEDAL AGAIN TO GET ANY KIND OF BRAKING. I HAVE ONLY NOTICED THIS AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS PARKING MY TRUCK IN DRIVEWAY. I ROLLED ABOUT 6' TO 8' BEFORE STOPPING. I NEARLY HIT MY HOUSE. GM ISSUES A "SPECIAL WARRANTY" BUT THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE MILEAGE. THIS SAME ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED BY OTHER GM TRUCK OWNERS FOR 2014 TO 2018 MODEL YEARS.

BRAKE VACUUM PUMP: WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY FIRM AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REQUIRED A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO MAKE THE VEHICLE COME TO A STOP. IT WAS INTERMITTENT, BUT IT DID OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES ON THE DAY I FIRST NOTICED IT AND WAS OFTEN AT LOW SPEED. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND HAD IT REPAIRED THAT DAY. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND DETERMINED THE VACUUM PUMP TO BE DEFECTIVE AND REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED. ONCE REPLACING THE VACUUM PUMP, THE BRAKES PERFORMED AS EXPECTED. PRECEDED SLOWLY GOT SOME FUEL AND STILL HAD ABOUT ANOTHER HOUR DRIVE HOME AND NOW THE BRAKES WAS REALLY STIFF AND TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP UNLESS I PUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. FOLLOWING DAY BROUGHT THE TRUCK INTO THE LOCAL GMC DEALER AND VERIFIED THAT THE TRUCK HAS A BRAKING PROBLEM FOUND A LEAKING BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER.

NO RESOLUTION THROUGH DEALERSHIP.

WHEN I FIRST GOT THE TRUCK THE BRAKES OPERATED PERFECTLY FINE AFTER ABOUT THREE DAYS THE BRAKES ON THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WOULD LOCK UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. AFTER TWO SETS OF CALIPERS TWO SETS OF BRAKE PADS A SET OF ROTORS A TWO WEEKS GO BY WITH THE MECHANIC TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK. THEY THEN REPLACE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT. TURNS OUT TO BE THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED ALONG WITH THE HYDRAULIC ABS CONTROL UNIT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON WHATSOEVER THE WHOLE ENTIRE TIME THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED UP THE ABS LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON UNTIL THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED INDICATING THAT THE ABS CONTROL UNIT WAS ALSO BAD. NOW I AM EXPERIENCING A TICKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE TICKING OCCURS AT IDLE END AS THE THROTTLE IS BEING ACTIVATED. HOWEVER THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION AS OF WHY IT COULD BE MAKING THIS TICKING NOISE OR IS JUST UNWILLING TO SAY ANYTHING .

MENTIONED DURING OIL CHANGE AT SERRA CHEVROLET, BUT SINCE BRAKES WERE WORKING THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE THIRD EVENT - NOVEMBER 16-- AT TAIL END OF 8 HOUR DRIVE RETURNING FROM DEER CAMP. EXIT FREEWAY AND IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC , ON A DOWNHILL PORTION OF ROAD, THE BRAKE WENT HARD . GOT VEHICLE STOPPED AND TURNED ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON, BRAKES RELEASED. I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE ON THE MORNING OF SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH AS I WAS BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT. AS I WAS BACKING IN, I NOTICED ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ON THE FLOOR AND I WAS ABOUT TO PLOW INTO A CURB AND THREW THE TRUCK IN PARK. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ONE DAY LATER AS MY FIANCE AND I HAD JUST COMPLETED A 200 MILE DRIVE HOME. I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT OUR TOWNHOUSE COMPLEX AND AS I WAS PULLING FORWARD TO BACK INTO THE SPACE, I NOTICED I HAD NO BRAKING POWER WHATSOEVER. I HAD TO THROW THE TRUCK IN PARK TO KEEP IT FROM HITTING A NEIGHBORS VEHICLE. I OPENED THE HOOD WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, AND NOTICED A TICKING NOISE I HADN'T HEARD BEFORE AND MY BRAKE PEDAL ONLY HAD ABOUT 1/4" OF TRAVEL LEFT. I COULD PULL THE PEDAL BACK TO WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE BUT IT WOULD JUST FALL BACK DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO VERY SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY PARK THE TRUCK USING PARK AND THE PARKING BRAKE. WITH THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE IN PARK, I DEPRESSED WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HELD IT TO THE FLOOR AND HEARD A MOANING NOISE COMING FROM THE AREA NEAR THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND COULD FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL SHUDDERING UNDER MY FOOT. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND I WAS GIVING NO WARNING OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. I AM HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO SEWELL BUICK GMC IN DALLAS AND WILL UPDATE WHEN THEY FIND CAUSE. I WILL ALSO BE CALLING GM CUSTOMER SUPPORT AS I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD.

THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO PERFORM AN EXISTING SAFETY RECALL FOR STEERING ANOMALIES (RECALL # 18289) AS WELL AS DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE BRAKE BOOST ISSUE. SERVICE BULLETIN PIT5361B WAS FOLLOWED AND THE VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED TO RESOLVE THE BRAKE BOOST ISSUE. THIS REPAIR OCCURRED AT 40728 MILES - JUST BEYOND WARRANTY COVERAGE TERMS. TOTAL COST OF REPAIR $686.56. THE BRAKE BOOST ISSUE HAS NOT REOCCURRED TO DATE SINCE THE REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ABUSED OR INVOLVED IN ANY RIGOROUS ACTIVITY. IT IS A GENERAL USE VEHICLE AND IS USED PRIMARILY FOR FAMILY ERRANDS AND ROAD TRIPS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO DEPRESS AND STOP THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. THE CONTACT DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER (GULF COAST CHEVROLET BUICK GMC, 1901 W. FM 523, ANGLETON, TX 77515, (800) 593-5226) STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TOO MANY MILES TO BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WATCHED MY HUSBAND SHOOT ACROSS THE ROAD INTO THE OTHER LANE AND ALMOST PUT THE VEHICLE OVER A BANK ONE NIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE JANUARY 2018 FOR US, WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THEM TO TELL US THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND NOTHING IS COMING UP IN THEIR SYSTEM FOR AN ERROR CODE. IT HAS CAUSED A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE FOR MY FAMILY, AS WE DON'T DARE PUT OUR CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK LEAVING THE RESPONSIBILITY SOLELY ON ONE PARENT TO TRANSPORT THE KIDS TO AND FROM DAYCARE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN I20 IN DALLAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY BUT MOVING AT 70 MILES AN HOUR. I SAW BRAKE LIGHTS IN FROM OF ME, WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD, I COULD NOT PRESS IT WITH ONE FOOT AND I COULD NOT SLOW DOWN. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BE UNABLE TO STOP.I DROVE ANOTHER 15 MINUTES GOING VERY SLOW AND SCARED. PARKED MY TRUCK IN THE DRIVE AND HAD A TOW TRUCK PULL IT TO THE DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO MY HOUSE. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 58,000. I REALLY WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE IF YOU HAVE EVER DRIVEN IN RUSH HOUR DALLAS TRAFFIC YOU UNDERSTAND . I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TODAY THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DOUBT GMC CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WAS A VACUUM PUMP ON THE BREAKS. I WAS BEHIND HER IN MY 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500, GOING APPROX. 2 MPH. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD AND I HIT THE REAR OF MY DAUGHTERS CAR, CRACKING THE REAR BUMPER. NO DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS ONLY GOING A COUPLE MPH, LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER HAD HER FOOT ON THE BREAK OF HER CAR, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE PUSHED HER RIGHT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE FACT THAT SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE IS WHAT STOPPED MY TRUCK. WE BOTH BACKED UP AND GOT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION, WHEN BACKING UP THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. THERE WASN'T A SPOT TO LEAVE THE TRUCK SO I HAD TO DRIVE 3 MILES BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE BRAKES WORKED PERFECTLY AFTER, NO ISSUES WHAT SO EVER. IT SEEMED LIKE AT THE SLOW SPEED THAT BRAKES DIDN'T HAVE ANY BOOST (OR PRESSURE), THE PEDAL WAS VERY VERY STIFF, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS PUSHING BACK AGAINST ME WHEN I HIT THE REAR OF MY DAUGHTERS CAR. BUT DRIVING HOME EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECT. I'M BRINGING THE TRUCK IN (APPROX. 72K MILES) TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT I'M CONCERNED THE DEALER WILL NOT KNOW WHAT TO FIX AS THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE INTERMITTENT. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION AND I COULD HAVE PUSHED MY DAUGHTER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MUCH WORSE. SOMETHING SEEMS TO BE SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND WHEN GOOGLING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND MANY SIMILAR ISSUES/COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE BRAKES.

BRAKE PEDAL NEVER WENT TO THE FLOOR, I PUSHED THE PEDAL AND THERE SEEMED TO BE MORE RESISTANCE THAN NORMAL. IT DIDN'T MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED, THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED WITH APPROXIMATELY 78,000 MILES. I WAS LATE FOR A MEETING SO I WENT INTO WORK AND LATER IN THE DAY I HAD A BREAK SO I CHECKED ON THE TRUCK. PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AND BACK IN AND BRAKES WORKED BOTH IN REVERSE AND IN FORWARD. SO NOW WHAT TO DO????????? AT WORK I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND SAW THIS SIMILAR ISSUE COME UP IN A LOT OF THE SEARCH RESPONSES- AND DECIDED TO LOG IT HERE. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AND VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS IN A CROWD OR PEOPLE OR AT AN INTERSECTION AND COULDN'T STOP. I WAS SURPRISED THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON 2014-2016 GM VEHICLES. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I'D HATE SOMEONE'S BRAKES FAILING AT HIGH SPEED AND SOMEONE GETS HURT.

AT 47,000 MILES. I NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END WHILE BRAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS THE VIBRATION BECAME CONSIDERABLE WORSE. IT FELT AS THOUGH THE ROTORS BECAME WARPED WHICH I HAVE EXPERIENCED DURING VEHICLE TESTING AT PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENTS. I REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. DURING REMOVAL OF THE OLD BRAKES, I QUICKLY NOTICED THAT 1 OF THE 4 PADS WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED THROUGH THE BACKING PLATE. BRAKE PAD CONTACT AREA WITH THE ROTOR WAS FINE, BUT THE BACKING PLATE HAD HOLES IN IT FROM THE LEVEL OF CORROSION. OTHER 3 BRAKE PADS WERE FINE, VERY MINOR SURFACE CORROSION AT WORST. SINCE REPLACING MY BRAKES THE VIBRATION HAS NEVER REPEATED.
