I have 125,000 miles on my truck. I was traveling with my grandkids in the back seat. We were going through a four way stop. My truck started tapping like a lifter issue. The next thing I know is the truck engine light started flashing and car started to shake. Then, my truck lost all power and a big cloud of blue smoke came out of the tail pipe. The truck could not be driven any further. The symptoms: engine tapping, low oil, engine light flashing, shaking, lost all movement, and a cloud of smoke We had to tow my truck to the dealer and they are still accessing the issue. All symptoms are identical to the current recall of the GMC engines.
2018 GMC Sierra started having shuddering/jerking/jumping problems at around 60k miles. This problem occurs while driving on straight aways, going uphill and while in drive at a stop sign/light. When the gas is accelerated the truck then hesitates and jerks/jumps. We have taken it to the GMC dealership and paid for the diagnostics and were informed “the problem wasn’t severe enough”. The truck has only been serviced by GMC dealership. So after failed attempts with GMC service department we have taken it to a local small auto shop and they automatically said it was the Drive Train and needed to be taken to a transmission shop. We have been GM owners for decades and are so disappointed in the service received from them.
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission vibrated. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failing torque converter. The contact was informed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact was informed of a Manufacturer's warranty. The contact was informed of a Manufacturer's warranty for the 2018 GMC vehicle's transmission failure due to the incorrect oil being used during production of the torque converter. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the manufacturer needed to approve the repair coverage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Repeated transmission issues with the 8 speed transmission due to the malfunctioning valve body. This has caused major safety issues and nearly killed my family with the vehicle locked up and wouldn’t shift on the interstate. The dealership did a warranty repair on the torque converter which made the symptoms slightly better until the vehicle was no longer covered by warranty, at which time all symptoms came back. GM knows their 8 speed transmission has an issue and hasn’t provided a solution. Now, due to the faulty valve body, I have to have my entire transmission replaced for $8000.
I purchased a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2 Denali new. I followed all service requirements including oil changes by GM dealerships. 2025 i noticed my truck power was decreasing. Than I started to hear knocking noses. I took it to a dealership for diagnosis but they couldn't identify anything. Finally it started to skip this is when a dealership diagnose it as being an issue with the active fuel management system. They said my lifters, camshaft, and various other parts was damaged and had to be replaced. Additionally, they said it was a recall on 6.2 engines with the same identical issue but my year wasn't included. The cost to repair approximately 10,000. I really need your attention to this matter! September 10, 2025 my truck placed me and others in danger when it lose engine power. Also my engine light was on for the first time.
Transmission shutters when going over 50mph

Transmission shutting and torque converter came apart destroying the transmission.
I have a 6.2 engine that had a number 4 cylinder failure due to a engine defect of the crankshaft. They have recalled the 6.2 motors on the 2021-2024 year models. The 2018 year models with the 6.2 engine should be recalled also bc they are having the same issue. Please help

I own a $35,000 2018 gmc Sierra 1500 6.2l V8 4x4 Denali, which is currently down due to engine failure while I was driving down the road.. never had a check engine light on the dash. Haven't had the truck a year before it quit. Rods knocking, crankshaft bearings, loss of power, high rpm with little acceleration. I could have the peddle down to the floor and would barely get to 20 mph.. the motor would jump so bad, you would think it's going to jump out the truck. I have replaced several parts on the truck, including oil pump, filter, solenoid valve sensor, fuel pump, injectors, and sensors, battery, starter a couple times. Did all that replacing for it to get worse and finally quit while driving.. I was stranded in the middle of the road.. IV reported it to the Recall people, but nothing helped. I have taken my vehicle to Express Chevrolet and they did a diagnostic test, which I provided the list they gave me below. When I took it to them, I was using Endurance Warranty, but they denied my claim due to the issues and they didn't cover them. At the time, the motor was still jumping, but smoke was coming out the tailpipe extremely bad, the truck was jerking and jumping. After replacing everything I listed, the truck got worse, started screeching and knocking loudly, loss of engine power, little acceleration. The day the motor quit on me while driving, I got the mph up to about 55-60 and it just quit, and hasn't started back since.
I'm experiencing constant transmission shuddering at constant speed between 25 and 40 mph. This is a know issue, General Motors known issue, with the 8 speed transmission installed in this vehicle. TSB 18-NA-355 was issued in August of 2019 for this issue, but general motors refuses to recall all affected vehicles. Something needs to be done about this!
This 2018 GMC Sierra has 100,000 miles on it and in April 2025 the transmission went out and needed a new one. Now in July 2025 the engine has lifter failure leading to the need of a new engine.
Transmission has a shudder at lower speeds 1200 RMP area. Has been doing it since I bought the truck a few years ago. Took it back for warranty work and they claim this is a very common problem with this transmission. Claim that flushing the system would repair it, which it has not. Occasionally to will almost go out of gear, I have to try getting off the road safely to shut it off. After a few minutes, start it up and it will be back to normal. Also I’m on my 3rd starter. What appears to be another common issue with this model. Sometimes it fires right up, sometimes it’s very weak and others not at all and requires a jump start. All in all, recalls should’ve already been applied to these models. Pay way to much for junk!
When driving the transmission will shift hard almost jumping forward, especially from a stopped position into 1st.
I am the original owner of a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L L86 engine and 8-speed 8L90 transmission. I began experiencing severe transmission shuddering and harsh shifting, especially at lower speeds or under light acceleration. When the issue occurs, I press the gas and the engine revs up to 6,000 RPM without reaching 20 MPH, making it extremely difficult — and dangerous — to merge into traffic or cross intersections. This issue has worsened over time and is now a critical safety concern, especially with children in the vehicle. I have researched this issue and found that many owners report the same transmission defect, and there is an open class action lawsuit and a GM Technical Service Bulletin (TSB #18-NA-355) describing the exact symptoms. The vehicle has become unsafe to drive. GMC should issue a recall or mandatory repair program for this known defect before someone is injured or killed.
Engine lifters failed. Heard ticking noise first day truck was purchased that gradually got louder but was told by gmc service shop it was normal to hear the ticking noise. Also when cruise control is on and you are decending a hill the rpms raise and you lose engine compression this will cause your speed to drop to around 20 mph and has happened nunerous times.. as well when making a turn sometimes or just driving the vehicle turns off while in motion and you have to coast to the side of the road and turn the key off and back on to start driving agsin.. the loss of power is a complete blackout no dash.. no engine nothing. As result of the lifter issue the engine also hard shifts in and out of slow gears.. I have not driven my truck in about a year and still owe 22k on it. The issues with this vehicle are the same as the recalled 6.3 v8 engines.
GM has discontinued a critical engine belt on the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L eAssist. This makes the truck undrivable and unsafe to own, even though the vehicle is still under financing and only 7 years old. There is no available part, and no alternative has been offered by the manufacturer.
The transmission would purge forward when shifting gears. The shifting was very rough. This vehicle had recently been in accident.
I have taken it in due to engine mounts 4 different times, transmission replaced and in October 2024 I took it in for issues I was experiencing like I had before my transmission went out. I did not get my truck back until almost Dec 2024 and that was due to there employee backing into the front end of my truck. So after all that my warranty was up Dec 24 2024 and then on April 16th 2025 I was driving my 2018 GMC Sierra 6.2l 1500 Denali 129,600 miles at approx 30 mph it was late so the streets were empty and we started to hear a knocking or what I thought at the time was a very bad exhaust leak. We parked and then we started to try to make it home very slowly which we did and it was not making to much noise. The next day I called GMC and explained they said bring it in. I towed it there to be safe but it did start and still ran at very slow speed. They called me and said that the lift side rockers/ lifters 1 failed and it was stuck due to a misfire and that the engine would need to be rebuilt and sent me over some very vague break down which looked like a lump sum price. I requested and better break down and got a screen shoot and that when he said that’s the best they can do. There were no engine lights on or warnings nothing at all. It also just got serviced at GMC for an oil change on February 27th 2025 along with some air filters. Today is April 29th and still waiting for the service manage to call and see if they can do anything to help out instead of charging full price. I will Attach pictures of the cost break down if possible. Thank you
Transmission just would not go them all of a sudden it jersey really hard in second gear an start to pick up speed..cold starts it change gear really hard in second gearc often times slipping then going into gear really violently.. need fix asap dealer has service once with the issue, change fluid an stopped a while ago now issue is back an worst then before.. 44,785 vehicle should not operate this way.4×4 awd trans starts at 6500 to replace an go up to about 13200 to replace
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, and the transmission was repaired under warranty. The contact stated that a year after the repair was completed, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not repaired after the most recent failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,600.

When I first bought my 2018 GMC Sierra with the 8 speed transmission it would shift hard from first to second gear. Then at around 58,000 miles my truck also started to have a vibration coming through the steering wheel around 45-55 mph. I took it to the dealership and they changed the transmission fluid and did a software update. I am now at 80,000 miles and my truck still shifts hard from first to second gear and makes a grinding sound when accelerating sometimes. I am afraid to drive my any long distances for fear of the transmission malfunctioning. I have not been back to the dealership since my truck is no longer under warranty. So the problem has not been reconfirmed by a dealer or independent service center or inspected by the manufacturer. There have been no warning lamps or messages or other symptoms. I hope that GM is held accountable for putting a faulty 8 speed transmission in my truck.
My starter quit at 81,000 miles. It has always been a bit weak starting, but I have never had a starter go out on a vehicle at 81,000. I have replaced it, and the rebuilt starter is better than what was ever on this vehicle. I am also having problems with the transmission shuddering, shifting rough in low gear, and sometimes it reverses fast. Repair shops won't even touch the transmission. The dealership stated they couldn't get the problem to replicate the issues even though they know there are issues with the 8 speed transmissions.
Transmission malfunctioned while driving, causing no available power to move the vehicle. Had to coast in neutral and stopped in the road. Towed the truck to the dealer and they confirmed the transmission has failed. No warning lamps present or pre-indication of failure.
Vehicle jumps when shifting gears. When coming to a stop it jumps Forward. Hard shifting.
Knocking, stalling, shaking, lost of power and steering problems. Serviced transmission twice and I was advised to serve every 30000 miles!!! I owned several types of vehicles but I never heard such things before. Technician told me that apparently many GMC customers reported same problems.
Electrical system turns off power steering while driving Dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree service track service brake stability Had this service back in 2022 August the problems have resurfaced there are no recalls have spent lots of money and still failing Spent almost a year at the dealership fast forward to years later the same problem is occurring I am running out of money
When accelerating (at times) truck will shudder. Sometimes barely noticeable, sometimes violently. Was told by dealership that torque converter is going out and will be $4000 to replace but may not even fix issue. Looking online, appears that MANY (1,000’s) people are having same issue and that there is even a class action lawsuit about this issue. But no investigation by NHSTA yet, even though I can see many many complaints of similar issues
Shaking when accelerating. Sometimes so extreme it feels like you have been hit by another car. Random, inconsistent, and comes out of nowhere

Drive train:The truck suddenly lurches forward as I'm accelerating and after I've stopped. It's very scary to stop behind a vehicle and suddenly lurch forward. Thankfully, I don't stop too close to another vehicle. The truck also shudders and experiences significant delays in acceleration after coming to a stop and going again. Automatic Emergency Braking: the automatic emergency braking system spontaneously brakes as I'm driving when there is nothing in front of me. Thankfully, nobody has been following behind me when this happens yet. I had to turn the automatic braking system off in order to avoid being hit.

We purchased our 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 z71 brand new at Fairway Buick GMC in Las Vegas, NV. Pretty much off the lot we noticed some hard shifting, but over the last year/around 60,000 miles it has become progressively worse. Come to find out GM is aware of a known defect in the transmission used in this make/model and several others by GM which causes hard shifting and jerking while upshifting and down shifting primarily between 1st and 2nd gear. This malfunction has caused the vehicle to activate "limp mode" which doesn't allow the vehicle to move out of 1st gear, while driving on the road, putting the safety of the occupants and others on the road at risk. This first happened in January 2024 while we were moving and towing a 6' U-Haul trailer. Luckily we were within a few miles of our destination and made it there safely. Upon taking it to Autonation Buick GMC, we were told they had seen this issue before and the only solution would be to replace the transmission and would cost roughly $6,000-$8,000, and that's with the generous 20% discount they were willing to offer. We opted to have the transmission flushed instead and it seemed to fix the problem temporarily. Then on [XXX] while decelerating and coming to a stop light it hard shifted from 2nd to 1st then the check engine light came on and limp mode was activated. It was 110 degrees on this day in Las Vegas when my husband was driving home from work, and again by the grace of God, he was only 5 minutes from home and made it there safely. However, what if this had occurred with our two young children in the vehicle and we were no where near home? We would have been stranded in dangerous conditions potentially putting our safety as risk. This KNOWN defect in GM transmissions is 100% a safety risk and this needs to be investigated and recalled immediately. There is an ongoing class action lawsuit against GM regarding this issue and I will be looking to get involved as well. 2018 gmc Seirra 1500 8 speed transmission. Making unsafe conditions while driving transmission tends to make hard shifts, jerks, hesitation when moved into gear, gets worse when stopping momentarily at stop lights and then trying to accelerate vehicle will not move. Makes hard shift and jerks then will accelerate in an unsafe manner.
My 2018 gmc 1500 transmission making noise grinding. It only has 75799 Miles on it. I just was told by Laura gmc that my transmission needs replacing. I think gm should cover that. Dealer charging 7800.00 to replace it. That's not right the truck doesn't have that many miles on it. Please help
Transmission started to shutter at 24000 miles. Dealer said couldn’t find anything. ABS and Stabilitrack light came on at about 40,000 miles off and on. Both these problems could result in a crash. On freeway or streets. The display information/ radio has a mind of its own. Connects to any phone number or start the on star call and etc. it takes your attention off the road and can result in a crash.
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra LD. The contact stated the vehicle experienced jerking and shaking. Hard changes with transmission like a car has hit you from behind. It has had a hit in the transmission changing gears since 15,000 miles but it has progressively gotten worse and at 67k it’s enough to knock you to change steering direction.
At 66,963 miles my transmission failed while driving. The check engine light came on and the car would not shift out of first gear. The car was towed into Gilchrist GMC in Tacoma WA. and I was informed I needed a transmission replacement, cost of $7552.24. Come to find out there is a class action lawsuit currently filed for GM owners of this transmission, claiming some 800,000 GM products contain a knowingly faulty transmission. A recall should be in place being that nearly a million vehicles are affected by this.
I have been experiencing ongoing issues with the transmission of the vehicle I purchased in 2018. Despite it being a brand new vehicle with only 10,000 miles, I have had to bring it back to the dealer multiple times for transmission-related problems. We have tried changing the transmission fluid periodically to address the issues with shifting and shuddering, but the problem has persisted throughout my ownership.
I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500, it is over 5 years. So we all know our warranties are either expired and meaning out of pocket expenses will come. I mainly drive back and forth to work so my vehicle only 43,924 miles to be exact. So tell me why GM allows us to purchase a vehicle with defect oil in the transmission knowing the Torque converter will start shuttering causing some of us to purchase a new transmission and if we lucky a transmission flush. So yes I took it to the dealership causing me over $850 to have a diagnosis, computer hook up, and a transmission oil flushed and replaced. I was told this is an 45000 miles issue and it's not considered a safety issue. Personally, if I didn't know better I could had gotten rear ended and yes this should be a safety issue. Our family would like this issue addressed and be reimbursed for my expenses. Thank you!
My 2018 Sierra began experiencing severe shuddering while driving down the road. The dealer said it was caused by moisture getting into the transmission fluid and contaminating it. In my ownership of dozens of vehicle's this has never happened before. This formerly inexpensive minor fluid change requirement morphed into a $618.00 major surgery just to fix a problem that should have never occured. If the fluid was contaminated by moisture as the dealer explained, it's a design defect which caused it and nothing I have ever done. I am still unsure as to if the transmission or torque converter may be damaged. The manufacturer should be liable for the cost to fix this not me!
The vehicle steering wheel shudders at speeds from 40-55mph. The steering wheel shudders at 2-second intervals and is constant between those speeds. At first, I thought it might be one of the safety systems. It is not. This is unsafe and GM should be held responsible.
Transmission shudder at different speeds while driving.
On approximately July 23, 2023, I noticed the vehicle transmission shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear and then during the following week, this began to occur every time I drove the vehicle. There were no warning indicators appearing on the vehicle for this problem during vehicle operation. Then at higher steady speeds, the engine RPMs began to suddenly and intermittently surge slightly higher, and the steering wheel would shudder for a few moments. This began to occur more frequently and I became concerned that the transmission would catastrophically fail, causing a crash and/or personal injury. At that point I called a local dealer to make an appointment for a transmission oil change and inspection. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on August 21, 2023 and they confirmed that there was a problem with the transmission, though at this time final diagnosis is pending. To my knowledge, the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others since I took it to the dealership on August 21, 2023.
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine revved but the vehicle hesitated to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission was slipping and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle started vibrating and shuddering. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to her nearby destination. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer Liberty Chevrolet (105 Cooley Way, Villa Rica, GA 30180) where it was diagnosed that the driver's side lifters had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to a third dealer, Prince Chevrolet Buick GMC of Albany (2701 Ledo Rd, Albany, GA 31707) where it was diagnosed that passenger's side lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that the warranty would cover a portion of the cost of the repair and she was responsible for the balance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,267.

When the transmission is making changes, there is a shaking noise.
Transmission failure - the GM manufactured Torque converter on my truck failed to cause the transmission to fail. The internet is rife with stories of the failure of these transmissions on 2018 and 2019 GMC and Chevy Trucks.
8 speed transmission jerking, the torque convertor has been replaced 1 time already and having same issues as before. This time while in parking lot at store, was pulling into parking space, truck lundge forward during hard downshift hitting cart of person walking in front of truck. No damage and luckly barely hit the cart and not the person. I have also had the truck lunge forward when parking in my garage and hitting the garage wall in front. My truck is back at dealer again after hitting the cart in the parking lot. The 8 speed transmission issue from GM is a safety issue. My truck has already had first torque converter replaced and now having same issue with the new torque convertor
noticed ongoing vibration sounds like you are running over rumble lines on road.
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission oil needed to be flushed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. Experienced heavy vibration or shudder through transmission once fluid got to around 145 degrees. Also transmission has rough shift on the first shift of a drive cycle. When I started to research I found many of the same issues reported with 8 speed transmissions. I’ve also read about the issues with the lifters not working for the active fuel management system though I haven’t experienced that yet. The replaced my transmission fluid at the dealership under the powertrain warranty. This issue showed up at around 35,000 miles, so I am very worried about the safety and reliability of this engine and transmission.
Transmission System, hard shifts and shaking causing vehicle to down shift hard and throw itself forward almost causing an accident when coming to a stop, when vehicle was taken into service they did not diagnose the vehicle for this problem, while driving vehicle shifted down so hard causing vehicle to be stuck in only 1st gear and would not shift out of 1st gear
Transmission slams into gear in drive and reverse while driving it will slam into gear. And occasionally at speeds under 5 going up a hill it will have no power and struggle. I have 59000 miles on it last year around 53000 miles they did a transmission flush and that fixed it for about 9 months. Just took it back in they reprogrammed the transmission and it no longer slams In drive and reverse but still knocks back-and-forth while driving.
I was stopped at a fast food drive thru and then I tried to go to the next window and the truck wouldn’t move at all it will just rev so I put it in parked turned off the truck and turn it back on put it on drive and was able to move for like 40 ft then it did it again so I had it towed to my home
I have a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali. I started having problems with the 8-speed transmission at 18,000 miles. The vehicle has been to the dealership for a transmission fluid flush, a transmission relearn, a 5-week valve body replacement, two more trips to the dealership where the truck did not malfunction for them. I have had issues with an air leak on the driver side front door as well. That issue has not been resolved as well. I spent over $60,000 for the truck and have had nothing but problems. I have brought it to General Motors attention and all I would do is get a run around and no results. I was told that there is nothing more that they can do. I am beside myself and just sick as I do not know what to do. I bought a brand new vehicle in order to not have problems compared to a used one.
Leak detected in the engine oil cooling lines, requiring replacement.
I was driving down the highway when my vehicle loss control of operation and check engine light came on. After taking it to the GMC dealership it was determined to be a bad lifter in the motor. The garage had to take the motor completely apart to repair a bent rod and cylinder in the motor. There are numerous reports and a pending class action lawsuit concerning this device in the GMC Sierra trucks and other GMC vehicles. The lifters in the cylinder of this motor are designed to switch the engine from V4 to V6 to save on gasoline. My vehicle has been repaired by the GMC garage but I've seen reports of this problem repeatedly happening in these vehicles and it causes me great concern because if there is a lot of traffic in the area I could get hit or cause an accident by not being able to operate the truck. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself and others is put at risk because the sudden equipment breakdown could cause an accident. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. No other parties have inspected the vehicle. No warning lamps went off prior to this happening and the vehicle is only a 2018 and only has 36,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced shifting while shifting into a lower gear, causing the vehicle to suddenly lurch forward. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000.

VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHAKES AT ALL SPEEDS. DEALER BLAMED TIRES, I HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED, STILL SHAKING. DEALER SAYS "NO PROBLEM FOUND, OPERATING AS DESIGNED" TRUCK IS A NUISANCE TO DRIVE, SHAKING BADLY
During down shifting in lower gears while reducing speed , transmission makes a loud noise followed by vehicle hard lounging forward . Occurance is intermittent and unpredictable . In city traffic this has potential to cause an accident because vehicle lounges forward when speed is reduced . Vehicle has 18900 miles . Made in 2017 .
TRANSMISSION IS SLAMMING VIOLENTLY DURING SHIFTING, TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DARK AND CONTAMINATED. DEALER SAYS-" OPERATING AS DESIGNED, NO ISSUE FOUND" ALSO TRUCK SHAKES AND VIBRATES VIOLENTLY WHILE DRIVING
Very very bad shudder vibration noticed mostly during light throttle acceleration of 30-64 mph (48-104 km/h) during steady state driving with the transmission not actively shifting gear..
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator, the vehicle shuddered while upshifting. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where they were unable to service the vehicle. The contact had also taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that there was a TSB placed on the vehicle. He explained that the incorrect type of transmission fluid had been placed in the transmission which would cause the failure that he had experienced. The contact then called Sewell Buick GMC of Dallas (7474 Lemmon Ave, Dallas, TX 75209) where he was informed that he would be charged a diagnostic fee prior to the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering assist causing the steering wheel to become firm. The steering wheel jerked while turning and the vehicle stalled on several occasions almost causing a collision. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to Technical Service Bulletin 18-NA-161. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer promised to provide a callback. The failure mileage was 47,184.

I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO TEMECULA VALLEY BUICK GMC ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS AFTER NOTICING MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD. I HAVE EXPERIENCE CLUNKING SHIFTS BOTH IN THE UP SHIFT AND DOWN SHIFT, TYPICALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS IT PROPELS THE VEHICLE FORWARD IN A JERKING FASHION, VERY SIMILAR TO A REAR END FENDER BENDER. THE LAST TIME I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTING AT NORMAL SPECS AND IF IT KEEPS ACTING UP, TO BRING IT BACK WHEN IT IS MORE CONSISTENT. THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN A FEW MONTHS.

AFTER COLD STARTS WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND THROWS YOUR BODY FORWARD. AFTER THAT FIRST GEAR CHANGE IT DOESN'T DO IT AGAIN UNTIL ANOTHER COLD START. AROUND 34000 MILES I AM GETTING A RUMBLING VIBRATION THROUGH THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL WHEN HOLDING SPEED BETWEEN 35-75 MPH. THE RPM GUAGE WILL JUMP SLIGHTLY AND IT WILL FEEL LIKE GOING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS. ACCELERATION IS VERY WEAK AT TIMES. SOMETIMES ITS OK. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING DONE WITH THESE TORQUE CONVERTERS AND TRANSMISSIONS BY GM. UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 40-50K DOLLAR TRUCK!

TRUCK SHIFTS HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND VICE VERSA. WHEN DOWN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 1ST IT FEELS AS IF YOU GET REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT SHIFTS HARD WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN DRIVE AND REVERSE WITH AN AUDIBLE "CLUNK" AND JERKING ON THE TRUCK.
Mileage: 10,000
HESITATION WHEN ENGINE IS COLD SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. SOME SHIFT IS SO HARD THAT IT FEELS LIKE BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY PERFORMED THE TSB 18-NA-355. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

THE FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THAT ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ON MY TRUCK WENT OUT AND MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START. IT FINALLY STARTED BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE FINALLY IT WOULD MOVE BUT VERY SLOWLY THIS HAPPENED ON 11/20/2019 I HAVE DOCUMENTATION THROUGH ONSTAR FOR THIS INCIDENT. MY BRAKES STARTED SLIPPING ON 07/01/2020 AND STILL DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. MY TRANSMISSION HAS NEVER SHIFTED CORRECTLY. WHEN I ACCELERATE OR WHEN I SLOW DOWN THERE IS A SHUDDER AND A JERKING SOUND. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE WHEN MY TRUCK IS PUT IN REVERSE IT HESITATES AND THEN SEEMS TO JUMP INTO GEAR.
Mileage: 27,000
HARD SHIFTING THAT STARTED AROUND 40000 MILES AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 AND AT 90000 MILES THAT VEHICLE'S #3 SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. IT APPEARS THIS VEHICLE IS ON THE SAME PATH. THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE VEHICLES ARE TRASH. IT HAPPENS IN LOWER GEARS.

THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 32,000 MILES SLIPPED SO BAD COULD HARDLY DRIVE IT HOME ON HIGHWAY I95 JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA. FINALLY GOT A DEALER APPOINTMENT AFTER OVER 2 WEEKS OF WAITING WITHOUT THE USE THE VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE FLUID AND SAID IT WAS NOW GOOD. STILL TENDS TO SLIP I ASKED WHY THEY WERE NOT REPLACING THE WHOLE UNIT SAID NO NEED AS MY WARRANTY IS ALMOST UP?

I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A SHUDDER AND HARD SHIFTING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 30-60MPH AND I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT DUPLICAT THE ISSUES SO I TAKE IT BACK AND IT STARTED DOING IT MORE. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE SHOP AGAIN AND YET AGAIN THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. NO HERE I AM AT 17K MILES ON IS STILL DOING IT AND SHIFTTING HARD AND NOW THERE IS A KNOCKING NOISE. I TALKED TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY SAID ITS UNDER WARRANY STILL JUST DRIVE IT TELL IT GET WORSE.
WHILE UNDER POWER AND DRIVING, THE TRUCK EXPERIENCES NOTICEABLE VIBRATIONS THAT SEEM TO COME FROM THE DRIVETRAIN.

PURCHASED VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM DEALERSHIP AND FROM DAY ONE, I NOTICE THE POWER TRAIN SLOW TO SHIFTING FROM GEAR ONE TO TWO. THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND SOMETIMES SHIFTS HARD ONLY DURING COLD STARTS. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT IN FOR MY SCHEDULE SERVICE I REPORT THE SAME ISSUE TO MY SERVICE ADVISOR ALONG WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP. THEY SAY THAT IT IS A NORMAL PROBLEM AND THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. THE LAST SCHEDULE SERVICE I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM, THIS TIME HIS SERVICE TECH TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND SAID TORQUE CONVERTER WAS SHUDDERING CAUSING VIBRATION. THE SOLUTION HE SAID THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. TODAY I STILL NOTICE THE SAME ISSUE AND WILL REPORT TO THE DEALERSHIP NEXT TIME I TAKE IN FOR SERVICE. I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FROM THE MANUFACTURE SINCE PUTTING IN AN 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SOME DAY I MAY FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY LOCK UP ON ME AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

WHEN TRUCK IS IN MOTION SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO FIRST/SECOND GEAR IT JUMPS FORWARD INTO GEAR. THERE IS A HESITATION SHIFTING INTO GEAR. IT IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE DEALER BUT 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. THE KNOW THE PROBLEM AS DOES GMC. THEY ACTUALLY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL GMC SENDS OUT A TECHNICAL BULLETIN. THERE HAS BEEN AN UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS. I UNDERSTAND GMC IS HESITANT BECAUSE THEY MAY HAVE TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND OR TORQUE CONVERTER WHICH WOULD NATURALLY COST A LOT OF MONEY. BUT ALSO I UNDERSTAND CHANGING TO A DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION FLUID WILL HELP. BUT DEALER WILL NOT DO IT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND I ONLY HAVE 5700 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOT HAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. BUT CONCERNS ME WITH THE HESITATION AND JUMPING IN TO GEAR. ALSO IT DOES NOT DO IT EVERY SINGLE TIME. DEPENDS ON YOUR TAKE OFF SPEED. *TR
Mileage: 500
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM DAY ONE I NOTICED THE TRUCK WAS JERKING BETWEEN 2ND GEAR AND THIRD. ONLY WHEN COLD I FIGURED IT WAS NORMAL. I HAVE 11,000 MILES NOW AND THE JERKING IS WORSE AND DOES IT WHEN I HOLD A SPEED BETWEEN 45MPH AND 50MPH ALSO. WHEN I AM COMING TO A STOP IT HIT HARD INTO 1ST GEAR AND WHEN I TAKE OFF IT HITS HARD INTO 2ND GEAR. *TR

THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK HAS AN VERY NOTICEABLE INTERMITTENT RUMBLE AND SHAKE WHEN I'M HOLDING STEADY AROUND 1200 RPM AND 45 MPH. MY RPM GAUGE WILL SURGE ABOUT 50-100 RPMS WHEN IT RUMBLES. IF I SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN IT GOES AWAY. MY WHEELS AND TIRES ARE BALANCE SO THAT NOT THE ISSUE AND MY DRIVE IS SMOOTH OTHERWISE. *TR
I HAVE A 2018 GMC SIERRA DENALI, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD, USUALLY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, THE TRUCK STARTS OUT IN FIRST GEAR AND THEN FEELS LIKE IT LACKS POWER OR TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND THEN BANGS INTO 2ND GEAR.THE MORE I DROVE THE TRUCK THE WORSE IT GOT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THERE IS A VIBRATION WITHIN THE TRUCK. THE FASTER YOU GO THE MORE OF A VIBRATION YOU FEEL. DURING THE VIBRATION THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT SHAKING AND WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE WHEEL THE TRUCK STAYS STRAIGHT, SO IT'S NOT THE FRONT END. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED, PELLEGRINO GMC, WHICH IS A 30 MINUTE DRIVE AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS ADVISED PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT, THAT THE BANGING INTO GEAR ONLY HAPPENS WHEN ITS IS COLD. HE ADVISED ME THAT WHAT I WAS FEELING WAS A NORMAL SHIFT FOR MY TRUCK. I ADVISED HIM ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETINS AND HE STATED THAT IT DIDN'T PERTAIN TO MY TRUCK.THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE MY VEHICLE FOR 13 MILES AND DIDN'T FEEL THE VIBRATION. HE CHECKED THE ENGINE CODES AND FOUND NONE. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT HAS 6000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.

TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR WHEN IN MOTION. IT ALSO HAS A VIOLENT SHUDDER WHEN IT IS TRYING TO SELECT A DIFFERENT GEAR, MOST APPARENT AROUND 35MPH. IF BRAKE ISN'T PRESSED HARD ENOUGH, SHIFTING OUT OF PARK COULD CAUSE VEHICLE TO RUN INTO SOMETHING DUE TO THE HARD SHIFT WHEN STATIONARY.

I OWN A GMC SIERRA WHICH IS 14 MONTHS OLD, PURCHASED IN DUBAI UAE FROM ALGHANDI AUTO. THE LAST SERVICE FOR 40000 KMS WAS DONE ON AUGUST 8TH, 2019 AND NO PROBLEM WAS HIGHLIGHTED EXCEPT THE BATTERY THAT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY CHANGED. ON FRIDAY EARLY MORNING (SEP 27, 2019), WE HAVE ESCAPED A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD ON ACCOUNT OF THE FRONT WHEEL AXLE THAT JUST BROKE/CAME APART WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE, SUBSEQUENTLY SKIDDING TO THE RIGHT CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE SUSPENSION AND MANY OTHER PARTS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED EVEN DEATH OF MY SON WHO WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I WOULD APPRECIATE AN IMMEDIATE CALL FROM YOUR OFFICE TO RESOLVE THIS AS I AM NO LONGER INTERESTED IN DRIVING THIS CAR THAT CAN COST ME & MY FAMILY OUR LIVES. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY AS I WOULD OTHERWISE BE IN THE PROCESS OF SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE AGAINST GMC. *JB

I EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION TO SIFT UP OR DOWN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BETWEEN 11/01/2019 AND 11/11/2019. ON 11/08/2019 I WAS MONITORING THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE, AND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMP REACHED 164 DEG, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD STOP SHIFTING PROPERLY AT 25 TO 30 MPH, AND THE TRANS TEMP WOULD JUMP TO 192+ DEG. TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SLIP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. RPMS JUMPED TO 3K-4K RMS BUT SPEED WOULD NOT CHANGE UP OR DOWN. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 11/11. ON 11/11 I DROVE THE TO THE DEALER 10 MILES AWAY. I MONITORED THE TRANS TEMP AS I DROVE, AND NO SHIFTING ISSUES UNTIL JUST BEFORE REACHING THE DEALERSHIP (TRANS TEMP HAD REACHED 154 DEG). I ROAD WITH THE DEALER REP FOR A TEST DRIVE AND HE WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT 30-MPH AND TRANS TEMP QUICKLY ROSE AGAIN TO OVER 192-DEG. DEALER REP TRIED TO USE THE MANUAL SHIFT OPTION BUT EVEN USING THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE TRANSMISSON TO SHIFT PROPERLY ANS ENGINE RPMS EXCEEDED 5K AND STAYED THERE UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO GEAR. DEALER REP STATED THAT IS NOT GOOD DURING THE TEST DRIVE. ARRIVING BACK AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE DEALER REP THAT TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE TOLD THE SERVICE DEP AMANGER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE TORN DOWN TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND IT MIGHT BE AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR BEFORE THEY WOULD HAVE IT FIXED DUE ALACK OF PARTS DUE TO THE RECENT STRIKE, AND A BAG LOG OF VEHICLES ALREADY WAITING REPAIR PARTS. OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT SEEM TO MATCH MINE ARE NHTSA IDS: 11193281, 11230193, 11221668, AND 11205523. ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THE VEHICLE CANNOT ACCELERATE SAFELY TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC.

NO TRANSMISSION POWER REGARDLESS OF THE GEAR SHIFTER POSITION. I TURNED THE ENGINE ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET A SOLUTION, NO LUCK. I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE 5 MINUTES LATER AND DID GET IT TO MOVE,,,WOULD ONLY GO 25 MPH AT 3000 RPMS. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF WI NOT NEAR ANY MAJOR DEALERSHIP ON-STAR WAS USELESS SAYING I HAD A MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER WAS TRYING TO PROTECT THE ENGINE. I WAS DIRECTED ME TO A CHRYSLER DEALER SHIP, WHO TOLD THEY COULD NOT GET ME IN FOR 2 WEEKS, SUGGESTED ANOTHER BRANCH WHICH WAS OVER 45 MILES AWAY. I DROVE 5 MILES TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WAS ABLE TO FIND A DEALERSHIP IN JANESVILLE, WI (FAGAN). WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO JANESVILLE, THE TRANSMISSION DID WORK. FAGAN SPENT 2 HOURS WORKING ON IT, AND COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE FOR THE PROBLEMS, THEY CHECKED EVERY COMPUTER, COULD NOT DUPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED. THEY REPROGRAMMED ALL THE COMPUTERS. THEN IN CINCINNATI, OH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT "OFF", WHILE STAIONARY. I TRIED RESTARTING SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL, DROVE THE 3 MILES LEFT TO THE G'KIDS HOUSE, NO POWER STEERING, TRAILER PROBLEM LIGHJT ON, NO RPM OR MPH NEEDLES MOVING. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP (BORCHARDING) AND THEY SUGGESTED I DRIVE IT TO THEIR LOCATION 12 MILES AWAY. WHEN I STARTED IT, THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK ON, BUT THE UNIT WOULD NOT GET OUT OF 2ND GEAR, RAN 40 MPH AT 2500 RPM, WARNING LIGHTS ALL ON, ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. NEXT MORING I STARTED THE VEHICLE, EVERYTHING WAS OKAY INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, BUT STILL HAD THE "CHECK ENGINE ON", THE DEALERSHIP KEPT IT (2) DAYS, INVOLVED GMC ENGINEERS, COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS,INCLUDING LOSS OF "STEERING ASSIST". THEY DROVE IT OVER 50 MILES ON TWO TRIPS,COULD NOT DUPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS SOME KIND OF COMPUTER PROBLEM, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE, THEY RESET EVERYTHING AGAIN.

WHEN 1ST CRANKING TRUCK AND PUT IN DRIVE MOTORS RREV UP AND SHIFTS HARD TO SECOND. OCCASIONALLY WHEN I OUT IN REVERSE IT WILL SIT THERE N NOT SHIFT IN. THEN WHEN IT DOES IT SHIFTS HARD. WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRUCK IT SOUNDS LIKE A CLATTERING SOUND UNDER DRIVERS SIDE UNDER HOOD. TRIED DIFFERENT TYPE OF GASOLINE AND NOTHING CHANGES. GMAC NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON BOTH OF THESE ITEMS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN MY GMC AND GMAC
DAILY THE TRANSMISSION HAS A HARD SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. POTENTIALLY CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IVE HAD IT IN THE GMC SHOP 3 TIMES AND GMC IS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION HAS SHUDDER AND NOW WONT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY WHILE DRIVING
DOCUMENT ID 4605342 #16-NA-361 : INFORMATION ON TRANSMISSION HARSH 1-2 SHIFT UPON FIRST START UP/SHIFT OF THE DAY UNDER LIGHT THROTTLE THIS GM BULLETIN WAS ISSUED JUL 21, 2017 ON NUMEROUS VEHICLES AND ACCORDING TO THIS BULLETIN THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAVE A RESOLUTION. THE BULLETIN CLEARLY STATES CHANGING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SOLVE THIS ISSUE. THIS IS AFFECTING MY GMC WITH THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NONE THE LESS SOLD THE VEHICLES TO CONSUMERS WITHOUT DISCLOSURE. NEITHER GM OR DARREL WALTRIP GMC IN FRANKLIN TN DISCLOSED THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO THE SALE. THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE DEALER ADMITTED THE ISSUE CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND TOLD ME GM IS UNWILLING TO DO A TRADE ASSISTANCE OR BUYBACK. GM CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR YET HAS A CLEAR DOCUMENT THAT SAYS OTHERWISE.
WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND WHEN ACCELERATING AROUND 15-20 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES "HUNT" FOR A GEAR CAUSING THE TRUCK TO NOT ACCELERATE. THIS RESULTS IN A MILD JERKING OF THE TRUCK WHEN IT IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING/SKIPPING. THIS IS MORE APPARENT WHEN GOING UP A GRADE VERSUS ON A FLAT SURFACE. SO I HAVE TO PUSH HARDER ON THE GAS PEDAL WAITING FOR THE TRUCK TO SHIFT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE WHEN NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC, AN ACCIDENT IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR. I SEE THAT THIS ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED IN ANOTHER INCIDENT ON YOUR WEBSITE. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK ON 02/2018 AND THE REASON I HAVE WAITED TO REPORT IS DUE TO THE DEALER STATING TO ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO UPDATE/LEARN YOUR DRIVING HABITS. I HAVE 11,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK NOW AND STILL EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE.

EXTREMELY HARD SHIFTING ON LOWER GEARS. WHEN SLOWING WHEN IT GOES FROM 2ND TO 1ST IT FEELS LIKE I GOT REAR-ENDED. NOT ALL THE TIME BUT ONCE A DAY AT LEAST. IT ALSO SHUDDERS WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, SOMETIMES THE RPM GOES WAY HIGH AND IT LURCHES FORWARD WHEN IT UPSHIFTS.

BRAND NEW 2018 SIERRA 1500 Z71. WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER SITTING FOR A NUMBER OF HOURS (6+HRS) THE TRUCK EXPERIENCES A "HARD" 1-2 SHIFT. THIS OCCURS 100% OF THE TIME WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK IN THE MORNING. SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED, THIS IS THE HARD SHIFT FEELING. OTHER TIMES THE TRUCK LOSES ACCELERATION, CUTS OUT, FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK HAS RAN OUT OF FUEL. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A LONG PERIOD. WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO HAVE THIS LOOKED INTO I WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITHOUT A RESOLUTION. IVE ATTACHED A SCAN'D COPY OF THE DOCUMENT THEY GAVE ME #16-NA-361.
SINCE DAY 1 OF PURCHASING NEW,TO CURRENT DATE, THERE IS VIBRATION AT IDLE. THERE IS VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60 MPH PLUS. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR TESTING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES. GM SAYS IT MEETS THEIR SPECIFICATIONS. THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES 3 TIMES, NO LUCK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRES, SAME ISSUE. I AM TOLD THE VIBRATION AT IDLE IS NORMAL. THIS PROBLEM IS DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH GM AND THE DEALER FOR 7 MONTHS WITH NO RESOLVE.
