Driving on highway at 60mph while towing a travel trailer and the rear tires briefly locked up, the check engine light came on with an explanation mark (!) and the dash displaying a major warning. The truck went into "limp mode." Computer code read P0747. Dealer confirmed issue and replaced valve body. Truck had 22,000 miles. Appears 2023 vehicles should be added to the original recall for long-term warranty protection.

Tailgate can open by switch located at storage area in console. It can be easily bumped then tailgate will o pen without driver receiving a warning light or dashboard message. If this occurs, and it did with this vehicle, any cargo could potentially fall out causing accident to vehicles following. Additionally, the powertrain (transmission) is a known problem for failure. If such a failure occurs the rear wheels can lock up causing accidents/injury to driver and others. NOTE- this has not happened to this vehicle yet but does cause concern for it happening and GM not doing a recall.

ECM - Engine System code P0700 and TCM - Transmission System code U0073. The truck went in to first gear and wouldn't go over 5 MPH on the highway. The dealer is saying it can't be replicated but it's happened multiple times to the vehicle in the past week. The truck was taken to the dealership and inspected but they claim nothing is wrong. The check engine light came on as well as the aforementioned codes.

At 12,018 miles on my 2024 gmc sierra 1500 I experienced a rear wheel lock up. I have 4wheel drive capability but I had the truck in rear wheel drive only. Thankfully I was not going fast at the time. I was going between 35-45 mph when experiencing the lock up. As I was going down a straight away, I experienced a rear wheel lock up of my 10L80 transmission. My tires were squealing like crazy. I pulled off onto the side of the road. After shifting to reverse and then park and then drive the problem corrected itself. When I brought it into the dealership, they could not find anything wrong with it. Additionally my trucks software was up to date and not lacking any updates. I don’t drive this truck very far and only drive about 150 miles a week. A rear wheel lock up of this magnitude at this low of miles is concerning. I’m not rough on the truck by any means. It’s more so a family vehicle than a hauler. I have got the truck serviced 3 times since I bought it for regular maintenance so that’s not an issue either. There were no warning indicators that this problem was occurring when I experienced the rear wheel lock up. This could have resulted in a collision with vehicles around me if I had not been aware of what was occurring.

Truck will down shift and transmission will slam, super hard. feels like i hit something. almost causing accident. dealership refuses to service my truck or even take a look at the transmission because "its not broken yet" in their words " it needs to fail before they can service it or even look at it, because they wont get paid." I have expressed my concerns about this safety issue and at this point they are being negligent. My truck is a 2023 gmc sierra 1500 with 3.0 duramax . still under warranty with only 35k miles.

The valve body in the transmission failed at 28,000 miles. My name is attached to an additional same exact vehicle where transmission failed. These transmissions should be recalled due to loss of propulsion. The dealership service lots are full of vehicles with the same failed transmission

While driving on the freeway, 65 MPH, I Went to accelerate as vehicle was slowing down with no response, looked at dash and noticed vehicle was in neutral, with a message saying “restart Vehicle to shift” thankfully I was able to get over a few lanes to pull over and restart vehicle. Very scary incident while on a busy early morning commute to work.

Vehicle was in for routine service, oil change and tire rotation. Per the published engine recall bulletin [Manufacturer Recall Number N252494000] the recall directs the technicians to check for a DTC and if not present to drain and replace filter and oil using 0-40W oil, to replace the oil filler cap with new oil specification labeling, and provide a corrected page for the owners operating manual. All very simple steps. There is absolutely no reason for this check and service not to be performed during routine maintenance. GM is dragging their feet on performing a critical recall and should be held accountable for slow walking this recall. Servicing dealer claims they had ZERO 0-40W oil in the entire dealership. I can go to Walmart and get cases of this oil. Replacement Filler Caps, which must be replaced can be quickly produced by the tens of thousands if desired, which apparently is a very low priority for GM. Servicing dealer was Heritage GMC, Rockwall, TX. Desired outcome is to require completion of all outstanding recalls if the vehicle is presented for servicing regardless of reason. Further, to specify a definitive timeline to complete any outstanding recalls and have that information communicated to each owner. Manufacturer Recall Number N252494000 has not been completed at this time.

My vehicle has the 10l80 transmission. It experienced shuddering as well as several rear wheel lock ups at highway speeds. The vehicle is now out of service, since May 19 2025. I have been told there is no answer to shipment of replacement parts.

My 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 with the 6.2L L87 engine is showing signs of premature engine issues despite passing the recall inspection. I hear persistent lifter chatter, which is known to be a precursor to catastrophic failure in these engines. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle due to the known defect with the crankshaft, rods, and valvetrain. GM issued a recall, but it appears to be incomplete and does not address the underlying issue in many vehicles, including mine. I am worried about sudden engine failure and safety while driving.

Driving on the highway under normal driving condition, my check engine light came on and said service transmission. This then put the truck into "limp mode" and I was stuck going 60mph in a 75mph zone. Dealership scanned and found that the coolant sensor control flow valve is faulty. This part is in such demand for these vehicles that it is unknown when the part will be in.

Vehicle's 10 speed transmission on numerous occasions has locked the wheels at high rates of speed on the highway, causing the vehicle to veer across several lanes and almost crash. Vehicle will not always engage in drive selection causing a filed accident while trying to go from reverse to drive.

I was going camping and pulling a small 20 ft trailer with my spouse and 4 young kids in the car when the truck stopped accelerating and would not go over 30 mph on the freeway and the fan started running. There was no warning light on the dash. I was then stranded 2 hour from home with my kids in a gas station parking lot and had to have the truck and trailer hauled home.

Transmission Valve Body physical failure causing jerking and abruptly reducing speed to 30 MPH. Vehicle is available for inspection Safety of driver and passengers included abrupt deceleration changes risking physical injury to persons and sudden loss of control of vehicular speed/acceleration risking accident/collision with or by other vehicles. Vehicle has been inspected by dealership and is awaiting new part for 100+ days Warning indicator for service check illuminated but then reset and turned off without incident. Issue with driving occurred with second incidence of service check warning, and vehicle was taken in for inspection/service.

I was driving and without warning the engine stopped. Luckily I was on a neighborhood street and was just left in the middle of the road without incident. However, if I was turning on a left into traffic or on a major highway I would hate to think what would of happened. Again, this motor gave zero indication it was going to fail. It did not knock etc. Truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine. This recall will lead to fatalities if others fail in this manner.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 35-50 MPH, the message "Service Engine Soon" was displayed. Additionally, the power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the gear shift control module had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was then towed to Parkway Chevrolet (25500 TX-249, Tomball, TX 77375; where the gear shift control module was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the vehicle was sputtering. The contact was unaware of a warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the TCM needed to be updated, and an unknown part needed to be installed for transmission cleaning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

First GMC had my car 6 weeks for a problem with the coolant control valve which failed making the truck underivable. They couldn't fix it due to not being able to get the part with a national backorder. After a few weeks having the truck back I started having erratic bucking and shifting problems and once again the engine light came on and then truck went into limp mode. Felt like the truck got stuck in one gear and was dangerous to drive. I felt unsafe operating it even to limp back to the dealer. The incident with transmission happened at high speed on interstate 95. Kinda scary. They have told me they can't fix my truck for a minimum of 6-8 weeks, but I was told that would be a miracle. So service told me probably be 10-12 weeks if they can't get the parts. If they can!

I was driving down the highway on cruise control and all of the sudden i heard a squeal, banging noise with no power to accelerate so i pulled over to the side of the road and the engine said low oil pressure and shut down and would not restart. Multiple vehicles swerved to avoid hitting my vehicle creating a safety incident with possible injury and death. No symptoms prior to the failure and vehicle was maintained according to GMC specifications at the dealer with oil changes and tire rotations. Dealer has confirmed engine needs to be replaced but after several weeks they say they are unable to replace the engine because no parts are available and no estimated repair date. This is completely unacceptable and not a timely repair. I am without a truck and still paying for the loan of the truck with interest through GM financial.

Engine Cooling system We were stuck on side of freeway then told to drive to dealership but kept dying and saying it was overheating could only drive 7mph off freeway. Yes dealer confirmed with computer test that coolant flow control valve was malfunctioning. On approximately April 8th 2025 we were on vacation in Biloxi MS we got check engine light took to Dealership in Biloxi. Put on computer said it was coolant control valve they reset it but said parts on National back order but we were fine to finish our vacation and head home. Got to Albuquerque NM on April 22nd it overheated couldn’t go over 5 miles per hour got to Albuquerque dealership couldn’t go any farther they tried to reset but truck would drive more than 5 miles per hour. Told us we would have to leave it part was on back order no idea when it would be available. We had to rent a car to drive to our home in Az .

Multiple occasions where the dash lights up while driving, the vehicle will slow down to 40 miles per hour while driving and notes on the dash the truck acceleration will be reduced. It has almost caused accidents while I’ve been driving on the interstate. The truck will jerk and shake and jolt. Multiple sensors have been replaced including drive shaft, crank shaft components and cooling valve components. I’ve also been complained about burning smells and my engine started smoking recently which caused my family to evacuate the vehicle. I believe my vehicle has same issues as the other recall on GMC Sierra 2021-2024 with engine issues

Transmission locking up Was never notified about recall and my truck was never put on recall list they have gas lighted me and others with 23 models having same known issues Yes it is stuck at the dealer waiting on back ordered part but they arent aloud to inspect the gears in the transmission due to only replacing the control module Prior to this i had other failures between fuel control module to def fluid tank to shortened wire harness all of this issues make the vehicle go crazy between acceleration/ hard and no shifting which is a danger to drive and then there will be more wear and tear on other components that arent being addressed

My wife and I were traveling westbound on [XXX] just outside of Durkee Oregon, when while going up a hill with Cruse set to 72, the truck began to slow down drastically. When I looked down I was then going 60 and showing down fast. I was able to get to the side of the road and then the truck stopped, it shut off. At that point the truck has not be back on. It would not turn on and Onstar reported that there is an issue with the Engine and transmission. No warning lights came on until we stopped. Then the Engine light was on and the truck said that it was overheating but the oil temps were normal. I feel lucky that there was not much traffic. My wife and I were on the side of the road for 2 hours at dusk and in the dark with 65+ MPH traffic zooming by. Also had a impossible time tracking down a rental call just to continue to my wife's grandmother's funeral service. The system that is not working properly is the transmission. It is available for inspection upon request. The safety of the vehicle, and myself, was put at risk because the transmission (once warmed up / at least 30-60 minutes of driving takes place) downshifts hard, making a clunking noise, and has at worst given the vehicle a rough nudge/jolt forward upon downshifting particularly from 2nd to 1st gear (it is a 10 speed transmission). This issue, when it occurs, will require me (the driver) to apply extra force to the brake pedal due to the rough downshift / jolt upon shift. The issue is exacerbated when quickly stopping the vehicle causing the transmission to downshift more rapidly. The vehicle's transmission flaws, of which this happens to be one of them, were being looked into at a certified repair facility (dealership). After the vehicle was in their possession 3 days, they informed me that they could not replicated or reproduce the issue. I informed and reminded the following: (1) the vehicle has to be warm and operated for I would state at least 30-60 minutes of driving before the issue arises (2) I have recorded videos of the problematic sounds of the transmission. (3) I am willing to go for a test drive to try to replicate the issue with dealership staff, but the issue is infrequent and the vehicle must be warmed-up and/or driven more than the typical "test drive" for the issue to be observed. The vehicle component has been inspected by a certified repair facility (dealership), but not directly by a manufacturer's direct representative, police, insurance representatives, or others. The transmission is also problematic in another way (rattling at low rpm's during upshift), but pertaining to safety the downshift is most concerning as described above. There were/are no warning lamps or messages. The symptoms of the problem pertaining to the transmission began occurring around 11,800-12,000 miles in my estimation.

Rear axle locked up driving down the interstate at 65mph. Had I been towing, the incident could very well have caused an accident. Truck taken to dealer and was inspected. Gave an error code of P0747. Per the dealer it was caused by a faulty valve body in the transmission. Part is on back order for months to get fixed. Truck is not drivable as it will not go out of 5th gear. Was told that the problem was found in many models from 2020-2024.

While driving my truck shut off and went into neutral. Truck restarted after cranking for a long time. Did the same thing within a mile and then started making knocking noises, turned off and would not restart. Completely dead on the road. Truck was towed to nearest dealership.

I was driving at approximately 25-30 MPH, accelerating from a stop light and I felt a clunk, heard a grinding noise and my back wheels locked up. It was snowy/icy conditions so the back end of my pick-up slid out to the right a little bit before the wheels unlocked and I was able to regain control. I could have slid off the road or into another vehicle had the wheels remained locked. The computer system then alerted me to a transmission issue and to reduce speed immediately and call for service. The pickup was then unable to shift out of 1st gear. The vehicle has been towed to a dealer and I have been informed the valve body in the transmission has to be replaced which is 8-12 weeks backorder.

I had my 6.2 engine replaced at 26,000 miles and the transmission rebuilt. The engine was contaminated with metal shavings and the transmission rebuilt for internal defects. The new engine is running fine but the reliability is a concern after reading about other customers having the same problems. My name is [XXX] . While entering the highway from a downward slop exit ramp and towing a trailer, my truck shuddered hard and briefly locked up the rear axle. It immediately went into limp mode with a message that driving speed will be reduced. It also wouldn't shift past 5th gear. When the event took place, the OBD2 generated over 20 trouble codes. My local dealer advised I could drive it to them for repair. Upon dropping it off, they now advise it's NOT safe for driving and they have no eta on the parts to repair the issue. It's now been at the dealer for a week with no update. This is a well known issue that GM refuses to repair or provide a reasonable timeframe for repair. With out any warning the truck stop running at stoplight an would not start back up. We could not move the truck out of the road and blocked traffic for almost 1 hour waiting for the tow truck and getting it loaded on the tow truck (truck would not go in to neutral). The truck is now at the Dealer and they are saying that the engine seized up and will need replaced.

purchased a 2023 GMC Denali, 1500 on January 12, 2025. after about a week,Started to hear knocking ticking noises took the truck to the dealership with 20,362 miles . dealership diagnosed that the lifters on the driver side went bad dealership replace driver side bank , picked up my truck drove it a little over 500 miles and still heard knocking ticking noises. Send it back to the dealership and dropped it off dealership told me they would keep me an update on it.Emailed called have absolutely no idea what’s going on with my truck. The dealership did mention of a possible engine replacement. But did not confirm after many attempts. Trying to attempt to contact the dealership emails phone calls still no answer. Called General Motors. They informed me the dealership ordered a new engine for replacement. That definitely worried me and I asked for a vehicle replacement or refund General motors, declined my request. Now I am not so confident in my truck what else could go wrong since the engine is going to be replaced? What about the transmission? Could it affect it? I don’t know> The damage was significant in order for the engine to be replaced you just don’t replace an engine just because, there was no light indications that something was going wrong with my truck. I’m glad I wasn’t driving far when I was hearing these noises coming from the engine because the engine could have seized left me stranded who knows could have crashed if the engine came to abrupt stop because of the engine failure. I purchased this truck January 12, 2025 . The total of time that I have had my truck since January 12 has been 15 days. today is February 6 on Friday, February 7. My truck has been in the shop literally 30 days exactly. Still no update on when it will be ready. This is so frustrating and such a big inconvenience.

Valve Body. While driving the vehicle, hard shifts occurred; the vehicle check engine light came on and stayed on while the vehicle went into limp mode. I was able to link to the GMC dealer. The dealer was not and would not inspect the vehicle at that time. I was told I needed to leave or return in two for inspection. The left vehicle was inspected the next day and determined as a value body. The GMC dealer found the part in another state and has the part shipped. I installed the part, had the GMC dealer search it, and performed a recall update.

Transmission Light has been on & off for a month and half. Had it at dealer twice, dealer will not confirm a problem. Truck shifts and bucks between first and second gear. Makes stopping in traffic difficult as truck will surge and jump when down shifting while stopping. Took truck to AAMCO Transmission shop. Confirmed problem, no new transmission units or rebuild parts are available for the GM 8 Speed transmission. AAMCO is replacing unit with a used one. This is a company truck also have a second truck having the same issues with half the miles of this unit. In my opinion GM is aware of the issue in that with both trucks at dealer with same issue, they just send me off with no documentation so as to not have a paper trail. Also no new units available makes me believe that GM can not keep up with warranty replacements.

Driving truck at highway speed and went to pass a group of slower vehicles on my right. I increased speed to 75 mph and the engine stopped and I had no acceleration. Engine would not shift into Neutral and would not restart. I coasted off to an exit ramp and the truck stopped in the middle of it blocking traffic for about an hour. Highway Patrol was on site to help direct traffic through the intersection of the off ramp and side road. We sat for approximately an hour before a tow truck could get us out of the intersection. The truck transmission was locked tight and the tow truck had to put the back wheel on skates to move it. I had to pay $175.00 to this tow truck company to move me approximately 200 yards to a local restaurant where we waited for the GMC provided tow service to arrive. GMC provided tow truck would only tow to nearest dealership which was in Weimer, TX. At the time of failure there was no warning. The truck just shut down making loud wining noises since the transmission was still in gear. This was an extremely stressful event and I was worried that someone was going to strike us at highway speed from the rear. Traffic was heavy that day on [XXX] heading [XXX] towards San Antonio and most left lane speeds were 75-80 mph and bumper to bumper traffic. The GMC Dealer in Weimer was very professional and inspected the engine on Dec 2nd notifying me that is was a total failure and would need to be replaced under warranty. The dealer had a new engine in hand within a few days and the truck was repaired with two weeks. I had a couple other issues with the OnStar system and the wireless after I picked up the truck and drive it home. I returned it to the dealer and proper parts were ordered to replace a bad control module that had failed during the engine failure. It took some additional time on my own after this was replaced to get my OnStar account back up and running correctly. This truck also had "tailgate drop" issues that the dealer fixed. Complete engine failure while driving on interstate. Vehicle went into neutral. After rolling to a stop on highway. Vehicle would not go into gear. Tow was unable to put vehicle into saftey mode and had to drag vehicle onto tow bed. At dealership techs were also unable to get vehicle to turn on or go into gear. Dealer advised the engine was complete seized. This happened while traveling on the highway there was no warning or signs of something being wrong. Vehicle simply lost all power and went into neutral while traveling 70mph with 37k on the odometer.

Valve Body failure. Truck rear wheels lockup during failure as transmission was unable to get past 6 gear, sending truck into limp mode at highway speeds. Codes P0700 & P0747, no issues before failure. Dealership has replaced the Valve Body, but the part number model MQC part# 24065353 has not been redesigned and feel this will be a continuous issues to saftey not knowing when it will fail again.

The trucks engine completely shut down while going approximately 60 MPH while merging onto the highway. The trucks dash flashed multiple times, a ticking noise was heard, it put itself in neutral, and shut the engine off. All power was lost. I did still have brakes. Safety was a concern as there was a vehicle behind me entering the highway too. Cars to my left as well passing at highway speeds. Once I got the vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the highway it put itself in park. It would not restart. The vehicle was towed to a local GMC dealer. There were no warning lights of any kind that came on. No indication that there was a problem. A couple days later I was informed that the truck would need an entire new engine upon inspection. I was also told by the dealer that the truck had no oil at all in it. The engine consumed it internally by their evaluation.

The engine failed with 15,000 miles on it. No warning lights ever came on. Had the oil changed several days prior. Lost power, but was able to drive to the dealer, but making weird noises.

On Wednesday December 4th 2024 at 5:45 am on my drive to work my engine shut down, truck electronically shifted into neutral, and notified me to restart my engine. After I rolled to a stop in a safe area off the main road i tried to restart my engine, with no success. I then called my local dealership to inform them of the issue, and they instructed me to call OnStar and have them setup a tow to their facility. Once the vehicle was delivered it took the dealership 24 hours to determine that the engine had locked up and a replacement was needed. It has now been almost 2 months with no update on my truck or the replacement engine.

While under light acceleration, the vehicle violently down shifts causing the rear wheels to briefly lock up around 45mph. The vehicle traction control activates on dry road way but no check engine light is displayed. The dealership claims the valve body in the transmission is to blame and has a three month back order due to several vehicles with the same failure. The safety issue could be when the rear wheels breifly lock up during wet or slippery conditions and could cause the vehicle to lose control causing a crash.

My check engine light came on so I stopped at a dealership to have it checked out. The dealership in Louisiana said it just needed to be updated. So I made the trip to Laredo, Texas to go to work. The next day the truck went into reduced acceleration and nearly caused me to wreck on the interstate. I had the vehichle towed to the closest GMV dealership. It turns out these vehicles have a faulty engine coolant control valve. The part is on national back order with no ETA. GMC is knowingly allow their customers to operate the trucks with this part that is know to fail. I am currently stranded in South Texas and I will have to purchase a rental vehicle to get back home to Louisiana. GMC will not help me at all with this situation.

While driving at about 70 mph, the screens in the vehicle went black and the truck had a complete loss of power. The vehicle inadvertently braked to approximately 30 mph and went into limp mode. The check engine warning light came on and the service power steering warning light, the service transmission warning light, the low tire pressure warning light, and the traction control warning light all illuminated. There were also messages displayed on the instrument panel to Service 4-WD and Reduce Acceleration and Drive with Care.”

after driving for a few minutes when down shifting vehicle will lock gears making the rear tires slide until a loud pop. May drive fine for a few miles again then reoccurring at any speed dealer said to drive it on SAFETY CONCERN but i did. truck has been at dealer for 2 months now. but am aware of more than mine with the same problem at the same dealership located at laura buick gmc in collinsville illinois

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to shake abnormally with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after arriving at a parking structure, the transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Leaking Diesel fuel, Leaking oil from the rear of the transfer case, making a claunking noise at the rear suspension, My safety is at risk for a possible fire and a crash from the Leaking oil. The vehicle was diagnosed with this problems on [XXX] at Caguas Chevrolet & GMC, also called United Collection Auto. parts were ordered on that date but not arrived. The truck jolts forward when approaching a complete stop. I have to prepare for it as I decelerate 10mph to 5mph to complete stop.
