I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THE DESCRIBED PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS, 25-40MPH, AND GOOD ROAD CONDITIONS (DRY PAVEMENT). I HAVE RECENTLY HAD MAINTANCE WORK PREFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHEIRE I PURCHASED THE CAR. I REPORTED THE BRAKING PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGERAND ASKED THAT THE BRAKE AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BE INSPECTED. PRIOR TO VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM A TEST DRIVE WAS COMPLETED IN AN ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE BRAKING PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE "VIBRATION: WAS DUE TO A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT DID NOT POSE ANY SAFETY THREAT. I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT THE "VIBRATION" WAS NOT FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IN THE BRAKE SHOE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED AND REPORTED TO HAVE 80% WEAR ON THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE REAR BRAKE PADS HAD BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO AND STILL LOOKED GOOD. THERE WAS NO REPORTED PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. I REQUESTED TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. ALL MAINTANCE SERVICE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OIL AND FILTER CHANGES HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED.
